anabel June 11th, 2007, 2:53 pm Topic, pretty please!
I'll soon start deleting all off topic chit chat, or close the thread if we can't keep it on Jo's website for even half a page anymore.
Our JKR scrapbook files are definitely on topic for this thread. They aren't really Technical Issues relating to CoS, so they don't belong in that thread. Or could you redirect us to another thread?
guad June 11th, 2007, 2:57 pm Because of the time a door opening for the WOMBAT needs (4 to 5 days for the test and another 3 to 4 days until the results are delivered) I think we can take for sure, that the last possibility before the release is Friday the 7th of July. Therefore I`m not convinced, that we`ll get the test before. But she could shorten our waiting time with a diary entry or a FAQ-poll, whos questions were answered after the release.
Oh meh, I thought we would get the third WOMBAT before the DH release. And I really hope we'll get all the correct answers to the WOMBATs after doing the last one :)
Nekoka June 11th, 2007, 6:43 pm ARE WE EVER GOING TO GET ANOTHER WOMBAT?
After the book is out, I can't imagine the site will be updated for awhile (as everyone will be reading).... And after the last book is out, there's as much reason to check her site anymore - what will be the point of a Wombat or poll question after the last book - hopefully we won't be left with TOO many questions after the last book. I'm so disappointed - I feel like Jo's forgotten about us now that the book is done and I am starting to wonder if there's no need for the site now that there's no shortage of publicity elsewhere. Jo, why? why? Give us SOMETHING!!!
She said the next Wombat would be "in due course." Well, the last year at Hogwarts is coming to an end in a month... c'mon!
Sheesh - sorry so jaded...first the Sopranos finale, now this... it's almost too much to bear. If Deathly Hallows ends by just cutting to black, I might explode!
Tantrum over - please continue with your discussion...
Schlubalybub June 11th, 2007, 6:44 pm I think that we will get the next WOMBAT after the release, I mean it could then include things that we could get clues from in the new book
Freaky June 11th, 2007, 8:37 pm Or at least by DH
I think that would be much too fast. We have experienced more door openings than FAQ Polls--it usually takes months to get the "answer" from Jo.
I thought unconvinced meant that the FAQ Poll would be answered by the actual book...not the timescale.
I can't believe that we're already on 11 June...only 3 weeks till the next WoTM (and we complain that our lives flash past our eyes!)
Chrido June 11th, 2007, 8:52 pm Oh meh, I thought we would get the third WOMBAT before the DH release. And I really hope we'll get all the correct answers to the WOMBATs after doing the last one
guad, I cannot imagine that weīre getting the wombat III after DH release. That would be boring, wouldnīt it? And what would be the charm of a wombat after DH? Iīm counting with a July release that will present us some chapter titles to play with. By the way I Love your sig line with Zidane and Materazzi!
anabel June 11th, 2007, 9:15 pm ARE WE EVER GOING TO GET ANOTHER WOMBAT?
Well, Jo did PROMISE us a third one. I don't know why it's delayed but I hope it comes soon. People will start to go off on their holidays soon, and many of us will be without computer access and will miss it entirely! :upset:

sorry very off topic - but you can vote in the second round of the ASA signature contest (http://www.cosforums.com/showthread.php?t=105855) guad has made it through to the second round with some other very talented people.
Tonks June 12th, 2007, 2:33 am At least you know you are off topic
I would love to see another WOMBAT. I think we need something to do while we wait for DH...
stunnedtina June 12th, 2007, 3:17 am I'm going on holiday from the 18th to 28th of June. You can all bet it's when the WOMBAT will be out. :sigh:
I've cleaned my cookies multipe times, but that's never made my scrapbook items disappear. The only thing that did that was when I cleaned out my flash file records using a program called CCleaner. (Cache cleaner). Now I know that when I use that, to uncheck the little box that says "Clear all macromedia flash records"
Thanks for the tip. I use CCleaner so that's why it cleared out the scrapbook items that I'd gotten. Next time I run CCleaner I'll uncheck that box. :D
Annett June 12th, 2007, 7:50 am And I really hope we'll get all the correct answers to the WOMBATs after doing the last one :)
I`m with you. Some answers would be very interesting to discuss and would give us a deeper insight in the Harry Potter world.

A true fan will visiting Jo`s site from time to time after the release of the last book. Therefore I see no reason why we couldn`t get the last WOMBAT after the release. At least it would give us new scrapps of the world we love.
Jo promised, that the site would be updatet after the release because she`s aware of that she can`t answer all the questions (at least the tiny ones of the hardcore fans) in the last book.
Runes June 12th, 2007, 12:47 pm And reading Mary GrandPre's recent interview isn't helping me there:
"I really do like book seven," she says. "I really, really did. Not that it was easy to read. There are some very sad things in there, and I can't say what they are. But I think it was really well done."
Eeep.
I read Grandpre's interview, but for the life of me, I can't find those lines in there... which one are you reading?
Freaky June 12th, 2007, 12:54 pm A true fan will visiting Jo`s site from time to time after the release of the last book.
That's not necessarily true! If DH answers ALL my questions, then I'll be satisfied and probably will never look at JK's site again (I'm wearing body armour so I can't be shot at and killed!).
I don't think I'd get as excited about a WOMBAT if it happened after DH had come out, than if it gave me something to do whilst waiting.
beth83 June 12th, 2007, 1:17 pm i don't even want to hazard a guess as to when the WOMBAT will be out but i don't think that we will get a whole wealth of info from the site a few weeks after july 21st.
olive632 June 12th, 2007, 1:23 pm I think JK is keeping it for an unusual time when we aren't expecting it.
Annett June 12th, 2007, 3:11 pm I think JK is keeping it for an unusual time when we aren't expecting it.
But we`re expecting something at any time. :rotfl:
Give us any date and within a day someone will come up with a great idea why exactly these day will be the one where Jo would give us an update.
Spritey June 12th, 2007, 6:47 pm I read Grandpre's interview, but for the life of me, I can't find those lines in there... which one are you reading?
This one (http://www.twincities.com/ci_6085616?source=rss), a few days back. She's done two recently, sorry, I should have linked.
As for the WOMBAT, meh, I have no idea anymore. June 21st works for me.
RiverIsis June 12th, 2007, 7:32 pm :hmm: maybe she is going to do the WOMBAT as a birthday present for herself and Harry?
Annett June 12th, 2007, 7:34 pm :hmm: maybe she is going to do the WOMBAT as a birthday present for herself and Harry?
Is it a Friday? :rotfl:
unconvinced June 12th, 2007, 7:36 pm As for the WOMBAT, meh, I have no idea anymore. June 21st works for me.
I think if she does give us one before the book (or any other up date) it will not fall on a day with any numerical importance because she has never shown an interest in doing that before especially as she ignored the 7.7.07 opportunity for the release date.

But didn't she give us the title on a solstice?
RiverIsis June 12th, 2007, 7:48 pm Is it a Friday? :rotfl:
:hmm: NO! but she might just be playing with us! :rotfl:

I don't think she ignored the opportunity, I think she was probably advised against it with the huge bombings in London on that date.
cassyopaya June 12th, 2007, 8:12 pm Hm, I haven't checked her website in a while. The door in the mirror is open. Has it been open for a while or is that new?
BurrowGhoul June 12th, 2007, 8:17 pm Hm, I haven't checked her website in a while. The door in the mirror is open. Has it been open for a while or is that new?
I think it's actually always open... except when the real door is open, then it is closed.
Annett June 12th, 2007, 8:22 pm Hm, I haven't checked her website in a while. The door in the mirror is open. Has it been open for a while or is that new?
The door is always open. Only on time you could close the door in the mirror to open the door to Jo`s office. If you`re interested in knowing if there was something important on Jo`s site, there is a thread (http://www.cosforums.com/showthread.php?t=104716) that only mentions them.
cassyopaya June 12th, 2007, 8:25 pm Thanks you two! :)
Freaky June 12th, 2007, 9:20 pm I think it's actually always open... except when the real door is open, then it is closed.
Never noticed that!
stunnedtina June 12th, 2007, 9:36 pm Someone may be able to answer this one for me, not really sure.
I had lost internet back when the first W.O.M.B.A.T test was put up and so I wasn't able to take it. By the way time I got back it was gone. So my question is, if you didn't take the first or weren't able to, then are you able to take any other ones? New ones?
The last one I was online for but the door continued to stay closed for me the entire time it was open for everyone else. Which thoroughly confused me.
So I thought maybe someone would be able to answer that for me.

Yeah, you should, I think. You just have to sign up as a new student to get a code. I lost the code to my first test, but I was able to take the second by signing up as a new student. I'm not sure why the door would stay closed
Freaky June 12th, 2007, 9:47 pm Yes you can, I didn't take the first one but could take the second. (copied my code down incorrectly so never found out how I did...but I did do it!)
mugglesrock June 12th, 2007, 10:28 pm Yep, I wasn't here to take the first WOMBAT either but I did the second one. :D
I have decided that if we don't the WOMBAT this month, then we won't get it until after the release, but of course this is just my guess.

And I think she was aiming for 07/07/07 but simply didn't make it in time!
stunnedtina June 13th, 2007, 3:23 am Thanks so much for responding to me. Hopefully the next time around, the next W.O.M.B.A.T, I'll be able to take. I hope it comes soon because I haven't been able to experience it before.
StephyJ_83 June 13th, 2007, 3:24 am Whoa! It's been a long time since I've been on CoS! But, with book seven only 38 days away, I had to throw myself in with like-minded HP fanatics.
So, my biggest thing about Jo's site is the utter LACK of updates. I know she's been busy with the book, but with HBP, she opened the Door to give us the names of three chapters and she gave us the little excerpt that described the new Minister of Magic. They didn't give away any plot (so wouldn't give away any spoilers), and they helped hype us up more for the book, and gave us more theories to come up with. She hasn't done anything like that this time, and it makes me sad. I check her site at least three times a day, but nothing at all. She didn't even use the door to anounce the release date like she did with HBP. I miss the door!!!
I have noticed, however, that the Wizard of the Month has been showing us a couple of our Horcruxes, which is exciting. Last month we had Hufflepuff's cup, this month we have Slytherin's locket. I hope next month shows us Rowena Ravenclaw... might give us a clue about another Horcrux.

I think the door stayed close because of a problem with your cookies. Next time that happens, try to clear your cache without deleting the Flash files (or your scrapbook content is gone). If that doesn`t work, use an other adress to her site like .org; .com; .co.uk and I think there are more available in english language.

Welcome back!
I think we didn`t get as much as we got for HBP because Jo said at this point everything would give to much away. And we got something we didn`t get the, the very interesting WotM recently. The majority thinks we would get Gryffindor next, because Dumbledore guessed Voldemort was never successful in getting a relic of him to urn it into a Horcrux. Which means, he should be holding his sword. Ravenclaw`s relic on the other hand is unknown, it would give to much away, therefore I think Jo will save them for after the book, in August.

Welcome back also stephy. Yes we have lots of major discussions on the founders and their relics especially as Salazar Slytherin's locket is silver in the picture on the site but in HBP it is gold. Have you any thoughts yourself on why this is.
silver ink pot June 13th, 2007, 10:04 am I've been thinking about Ravenclaw's Relic, and in looking through some old pictures from the PoA movie, something jumped out at me. This was a picture from Lupin's Office on the DVD. At the time I saved it, I thought it was odd the way the eagle statue was displayed so prominently, and maybe it doesn't mean anything, but here it is - I've got nothing to lose while speculating! :) It looks alot like the Maltese Falcon from the old movie with Humphrey Bogart, but I'm pretty sure it's an eagle.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v624/sip44/EagleDetail.jpg
We'll see what Rowena is holding when we finally see her! :tu:
Edited to fix the size of the picture.
olive632 June 13th, 2007, 10:16 am I'm not sure about this SIP. I know we can't really use canon on the films as there aren't always true to the book. The link is the animal which is true to the book so it may be worth considering.
The Do no Disturb sign is gone.
Annett June 13th, 2007, 10:37 am The Do no Disturb sign is gone.
Thank you so much for the information!
And now I`m gone - to Jo`s site!
silver ink pot June 13th, 2007, 10:48 am Whoo-Hoo!
:) Do this:
Click on the Fly, and a key appears. Drag it to the keyhole, release it and it will open the door . . . . . . . .
And, um, your wildest dreams will come true, or something.
Is it a spoiler to say that behind the door is something that starts with a "W"?
gertiekeddle June 13th, 2007, 10:51 am Great!
Please put the solutions how to get there in spoiler tags for now. Some members may want to try out theirselves. :)
*goes to make own WOMBAT test*
olive632 June 13th, 2007, 11:12 am Yes I have the done the test. Thank you JK
Here is how it goes
1st you click on the Fly and a key will appear then you drag it over to the keyhole and place it there
The door should then open and the WOMBAT paper will appear on her desk with the 3 symbols seperate.
the traingle is the first clue then the line inside the traingle then the circle. You need to jiggle it around a bit
This thread will be busy today. She has defied our friday theory though and it is to me an unexpected date
beth83 June 13th, 2007, 11:59 am yay so are we allowed to sing the song now!???
for the first time ever i have managed to get in to the study all by myself!
i thought this one was a bit harder than the others.
olive632 June 13th, 2007, 12:01 pm Yes me too beth. It took me a few minutes though
IMissPadfoot June 13th, 2007, 12:06 pm Woo! I cracked the puzzle all on my own! First time ever!
Feeling a bit smug now! :rotfl:
I have no idea how well I did, but all will be revealed!
Chrido June 13th, 2007, 12:07 pm Merlinīs beard, I didnīt think to get the Wombat today! I think it was a difficult one, what do you think? I did the last one (I missed the first one) quite well to my own surprise. I will be dissapointed this time, I fear. I feel that I made a horrible thing.
olive632 June 13th, 2007, 12:07 pm Try the WOMBAT thread that annett has started
HGHPRW June 13th, 2007, 12:09 pm I'm going as fast as possible, but my computer's way too slow.
LyviniaBump June 13th, 2007, 12:11 pm Yay! this is my first Wombat test! I'm quite chuffed to have found it before it was posted on Mugglenet. Do the questions offer any hints to what we may find in the DH? When are we able to discuss??? I'm all twitchy and keen to thoerize! :err:
HGHPRW June 13th, 2007, 12:12 pm Getting it. How long is the test?
olive632 June 13th, 2007, 12:14 pm Getting it. How long is the test?
35 Minutes a bit longer
Annett June 13th, 2007, 12:15 pm Getting it. How long is the test?
15 questions, but some of them have smaller questions in it.
beth83 June 13th, 2007, 12:16 pm Getting it. How long is the test?
it gives you 35 minutes but i did it in about 15 and then went back through it to check answers.
i would have thought that it would depend on how fast a reader you are.
Annett June 13th, 2007, 12:16 pm For everyone who is interested in discussing the questions feel free to do it here (http://www.cosforums.com/showthread.php?p=4565320#post4565320).
HGHPRW June 13th, 2007, 12:25 pm I'm finally done. Now I'm going to re-take it. What do you do with the student ID code, to save it?
How long is the test usually open for? How many times can you take it?
meesha1971 June 13th, 2007, 12:31 pm Yay! Wombat 3! Woo Hoo!
The history was hard! I think I did okay on the rest though.

I was never brilliant on the other but this is supposed to be the hardest according to the test paper. If I scrape an acceptable I will be happy.

Mail/owl it to yourself. So you couldn`t loose it.
SusanBones June 13th, 2007, 12:41 pm I finished the WOMBAT. I didn't think we would ever see it before the book came out. Now we have lots to discuss.
Warning:
the WOMBATS usually only stay open a few days - maybe 5 days. Don't wait too long.
LoveWeasleys June 13th, 2007, 12:44 pm I need help with getting in the door. I did this clicked on the fly and it didn't turn into a key. I clicked and held and nothing... Does it matter if I have a laptop? I also heard something about cookies but I don't know what to do...

i clicked on the fly, then held down the mouse button will dragging it to the key hole
i doubt that using a laptop would effect anything. try plugging in a mouse.
Chrido June 13th, 2007, 1:04 pm Donīt you think that it is an unusual day to give us the last wombat? Or do we read too much in, expecting door-openings to be at the seventh of a month or at solstice or seven weeks before... I canīt see a special signification in giving it today, besides you count that we got the 13th today.

Yes I was just thinking that the only thing I can think of is it is something to do with the wizard of the month being founders plus the fact the July may not be a good idea because of people's holidays.
SusanBones June 13th, 2007, 1:09 pm I think she waited to give us the WOMBAT until after the deluxe cover came out for a reason. I think there may be clues in the test that tie to the cover.
olive632 June 13th, 2007, 1:11 pm I only looked at that briefly with the dragon on was there anything else.
Shamash June 13th, 2007, 1:15 pm how long does the door remain open I have to get to Work...?
olive632 June 13th, 2007, 1:18 pm You should be ok for a few days to take the test.

Thats very interesting. One thing I noticed was out the window (next to the door) the houses look very much like the ones on the front cover of the Delux edition. But, that has nothing to do with the test.
Runes June 13th, 2007, 1:31 pm Was I the only one who was a bit sad that this was probably the last door opening ever, and yet it was so very very easy to open? Nothing at all! I wanted to spend hours trying to get it to open.
And the symbol on the spine of the book!! :eyebrows:
Shamash June 13th, 2007, 1:32 pm You should be ok for a few days to take the test.
Thanks heading to the office now, I live in Mexico City so with traffic a good 45 and  Ill put the Do Not Disturb Sign on my door and have a very pleasant morning. Cheers!

And the symbol on the spine of the book!! :eyebrows:
Whoever said it wouldn`t be important is now coverted, I think.
olive632 June 13th, 2007, 1:35 pm What does anyone think the significance of the symbols are.
Dawa Lhamo June 13th, 2007, 1:37 pm w00t! This just made my day!
Annett June 13th, 2007, 1:37 pm What does anyone think the significance of the symbols are.
There was a thread about that symbol. I think it was merged with the cover thread (not the deluxe one).
Tenshi June 13th, 2007, 1:38 pm And the symbol on the spine of the book!!
What book? I see no book. :(
Runes June 13th, 2007, 1:44 pm What book? I see no book.
I meant that the symbol tha's on the spine of the UK children's cover was featured behind the door..
beth83 June 13th, 2007, 1:47 pm Whoever said it wouldn`t be important is now coverted, I think.
i think the fact that it's on the spine suggests that it's important.
does anyone else get the feeling that this is it now until the book is released? (not counting wotm)
Tenshi June 13th, 2007, 1:48 pm I meant that the symbol tha's on the spine of the UK children's cover was featured behind the door..
Oh that! I didn't recognised it on the cover. But I try to find out the meaning behind it since minutes.
Annett June 13th, 2007, 1:56 pm My first impression when I saw the symbol on the spine of the book was, that the triangle stands for the trio, the circle for begin and ending fitting together and the line for two halfts or good and bad, generally the two sites of something.
There (http://www.symbols.com/) is a site with explanations about symbols, very interesting.
Tenshi June 13th, 2007, 2:03 pm My first impression when I saw the symbol on the spine of the book was, that the triangle stands for the trio, the circle for begin and ending fitting together and the line for two halfts or good and bad, generally the two sites of something.
On a website they say that the
Circle: prefection, absolutness and devine"
Triangle: Trinity of Nature/universe ... heaven, earth, human ... father, mother, child ... body, soul and spirit
Just can't find anything for the bar.
Edit: thanks to Annett
The vertical line, | http://www.symbols.com/pics/small/10/1001b.gif (http://www.symbols.com/encyclopedia/10/101.html), signifying oneness, unique being, and authority, is combined with http://www.symbols.com/pics/small/22/2201.gif (http://www.symbols.com/encyclopedia/22/221.html) for power and divinity.
LoveWeasleys June 13th, 2007, 2:05 pm Whoever said it wouldn`t be important is now coverted, I think.
Exactly what I was thinking too! I mean that was a BIG hint that it is important somehow. I know there is a lot of discussion going on about what it might allude to. But, I think that the fact that the WOMBAT was released before DH and that the symbol was used to get to the book is pretty telling. I think I might have to join that discussion!

For people who aren't familiar with this "shape," it is on the spine of the British Cover, at the top - it's grey and white and hard to see.

lindaluna June 13th, 2007, 4:04 pm Just did the Wombat 3!
Very happy day for me - my birthday and I got a wombat! Yippee!
Apparently that triangle/line/circle symbol is going to be relevant given it's the key to the wombat start of exam.
Interesting exam - can't wait to discuss!
PS - I can't get results yet - is that a common experience - I get in but no answer is produced.
Alorra Spinnet June 13th, 2007, 4:11 pm yippee! I got in all by myself.
I have a feeling I did terrible, until the last set of questions though. :p
I got an Oustanding on the first test, an Exceeds Expectations on the second test, and I hope I managed to scrape an Acceptable out of this one.
Annett June 13th, 2007, 4:11 pm Congratulations!
The discussion takes place here (http://www.cosforums.com/showthread.php?t=106293).

I do it with the button 'print screen sysrq' and then I paste into microsoft paint. However, you can't resize with that.

Try to clear your cache without deleting the FLASH files or chose an other ending like .org or .com or .co.uk

There will be no results until the test is over and the door closes again. It took a few days after that to start seeing the results show up. After the door closes, check the WOMBAT site (accessed by your WOMBAT card/code on the keyboard) and it will tell you the status of the results. This is the way it happened for the last two WOMBATs
Chrido June 13th, 2007, 4:41 pm do you have got the internet explorer? Then you will have to open (now it is getting difficult, because Iīm german) the "extras", then choose the "internet options" there you should find a button to delete cookies and temporary - er, things.

You only have to
click the fly and then its changed into something
Is the Do-Not-Disturb sign gone? If not try an other ending of Jo`s adress.
Fawkesfan1 June 13th, 2007, 5:12 pm I was just in JK's site and I tried to go and take the Wombat, but every time that I put in my number, it said it wasn't valid... :(.
Also...
Ok I was just on JK's official site and this month's wizard is Salazar Slytherin ... I shivered a little bit myself after seeing that ...
How about you guys?
Aguamenti June 13th, 2007, 5:13 pm Yes it's gone. But nothing happens when I click on the fly. Same with the pen (for drawing lightning bolt) in extra stuff.

That happened to me at first. I think I forgot a letter or number. Also, if your code has zeros and O's it can be confusing.

Make sure you got the number and letters right. small, big letters etc.
Yes it's gone. But nothing happens when I click on the fly. Same with the pen (for drawing lightning bolt) in extra stuff.
Click and hold the mouse key and drag the key to the hole. Same goes for the pen. Click and hold and then draw on the paper.

Hmm... is it the user number from COS forums that you have to input? That's what I did and I double checked it to make sure that I put it in correctly.
Aguamenti June 13th, 2007, 5:22 pm I tried the other sites and it still didn't work, and click and holding doesn't work either. My cache is cleared, too.

The code you got after you made the last test.
For example: 3k5Ogs73TTYYCjIjVyoEA
When it's your first WOMBAT. Just click on "No" when it ask you for the code. YOu will receive a new one at the end.
Annett June 13th, 2007, 5:25 pm Hmm... is it the user number from COS forums that you have to input? That's what I did and I double checked it to make sure that I put it in correctly.
Have you taken one of the former two WOMBATS? Then you got an ID at the end. If not chose that you haven`t an idea and you will get one at the end of the test.

No it's not from the forums. It's the code you get at the end of the each of the Wombats. If you don't have an ID code, you can still take the test.

Oh I see... thanks :).
Btw, awesome Avatar - Voldy in a suit :p ...
*edit*: I went and clicked on the Wombat card again and all it had on it, as far as I could tell was a submit button, so there was no way that I could have said that I haven't taken it... unless I have to find hidden items or something on the main page :hmm:...
RinkyDink June 13th, 2007, 6:02 pm There was a lot of guess work involved in that test. Are we allowed to talk about the questions?

The WOMBAT card is for when the results are delivered.
Today you must solve the riddle in front of the door, than the one behind, than solve the test on the desk within the door. At the end you get a code. Save it!
BublGumPnkHar June 13th, 2007, 6:05 pm Oh I see... thanks :).

You need to click on the eraser on Jo's desk to get to the room that usually has the "Do not Disturb" sign. The WOMBAT is inside that room. The card on the keyboard is only for receiving results of said test.
Annett June 13th, 2007, 6:06 pm There was a lot of guess work involved in that test. Are we allowed to talk about the questions?

If you have difficulties with the riddle, try this solution:
Here is how it goes
1st you click on the Fly and a key will appear then you drag it over to the keyhole and place it there
The door should then open and the WOMBAT paper will appear on her desk with the 3 symbols seperate.
the traingle is the first clue then the line inside the traingle then the circle. You need to jiggle it around a bit
Shamash June 13th, 2007, 6:18 pm when do results come out?
Annett June 13th, 2007, 6:21 pm when do results come out?
Only a few days after the sign is back at the door. Last time the door stayed open 4 or 5 days and the results came 2 or 3 days later, I think.
Fawkesfan1 June 13th, 2007, 6:25 pm If you have difficulties with the riddle, try this solution:
Thanks, I tried it and it didn't work... do you have to right click the fly? If you do, then I can't do the Wombat, can't right click on a library comp :(...

No, left click.

Do you remember on one door opening were there was a wall behind that door? That was difficult!

It did seem easier to solve the puzzle. I remember being very nervous about the second one, I think there were more things to do to get the test.

Schlubalybub June 13th, 2007, 7:22 pm *sigh* my first ever WOMBAT
ronjalina June 13th, 2007, 7:45 pm Wow, I was actually able to get the door open and solve the puzzle all on my own. And very quickly at that. I am so proud of myself.
My very first WOMBAT. Will it really be my last?
It is possible there will be a fourth WOMBAT after DH came out, isnīt it? I mean there are so many questions that could still be asked. This must not be the last time, musnīt it?
TonytheTerrible June 13th, 2007, 7:47 pm You do realize that we are on pace to receive our results (and possibly a reward) on the 21st (the Summer Solstice). Maybe thats why she released it today!
Did anyone ever figure out what Olive was talking about on Jo's desk, that could only be seen by Vista users?
mexicant June 13th, 2007, 7:49 pm I took it! Yay!
but I think I did horribly...

Hip Hip Hooray!
Is that what appears in Vista only?
SusanBones June 13th, 2007, 7:59 pm I have Vista at home - how does it appear? I can't look until I go home.
ronjalina June 13th, 2007, 8:01 pm Thanks, Olive. :tu: What caught my eyes immediately is that it says at the bottom: New book in 23 days. Well, we know the new book comes in 37 days. On the left side above, it says: Results delivered. When we do our maths, that would mean we will be getting our WOMBAT results on June, 28th.
snapegirl June 13th, 2007, 8:16 pm Thanks, Olive. :tu: What caught my eyes immediately is that it says at the bottom: New book in 23 days. Well, we know the new book comes in 37 days. What the heck does 23 days mean?
Aguamenti June 13th, 2007, 8:21 pm Hm....I tried again after about 2 hourse or so and it still doesn't work. I've been to all the other website addresses too and none of them work either.
TonytheTerrible June 13th, 2007, 8:23 pm So no one thinks it could be significant that the results could potentially be delivered on June 21st (which happens to be the summer solstice)? If the door stays open 7 days (6/13-6/19), then 2 days (in the past, the "papers" were "being marked" the day the door closed, would change to "results in post" the next day, then "results delivered" on the 2nd day) for marking, they could be delivered on the 21st (maybe with a prize). :)
Thoughts?
Tenshi June 13th, 2007, 8:23 pm What the heck does 23 days mean?
I wonder the same. Maybe another book will be released.
unconvinced June 13th, 2007, 8:26 pm I wonder the same. Maybe another book will be released.
Harry Potter number 6.5?
Annett June 13th, 2007, 8:27 pm Thanks, Olive. :tu: What caught my eyes immediately is that it says at the bottom: New book in 23 days. Well, we know the new book comes in 37 days. On the left side above, it says: Results delivered. When we do our maths, that would mean we will be getting our WOMBAT results on June, 28th.
The other two times we got a WOMBAT, the door stayed open between 4 and 6 days only, and the results came within a week. If your suggestion is right, this means that we we have a much longer opening this time or we have to wait much longer for our results.
anabel June 13th, 2007, 8:27 pm Thanks so much for responding to me. Hopefully the next time around, the next W.O.M.B.A.T, I'll be able to take. I hope it comes soon because I haven't been able to experience it before.
 Is today soon enough for you? :D

Has anyone besides Olive seen this?

Yeah, but we already know that "this time" is completely unlike the other two times. Why should this be any different? :D
Tenshi June 13th, 2007, 8:29 pm I haven't. Maybe another Vista user could check it out.
Harry Potter number 6.5?
:rotfl:
snapegirl June 13th, 2007, 8:29 pm Harry Potter number 6.5?
This is bugging me so much! I looked on the calendar and 23 days is July 6. I'm at a loss of what is important about July 6.
TonytheTerrible June 13th, 2007, 8:31 pm WAIT!!! Its 23 days (and some odd hours) until 7/7/07. Maybe something will happen then?
unconvinced June 13th, 2007, 8:32 pm Hey, its 23 days (and some odd hours) until 7/7/07. Maybe something will happen then?
How amazing would it be if with all this security surrounding the release of DH the published date was fake and they brought it out early!

Maybe. I wasn't sure if it's July 6th or 7th, depending on the different time zones.
TonytheTerrible June 13th, 2007, 8:34 pm How amazing would it be if with all this security surrounding the release of DH the published date was fake and they brought it out early!
I don't think my heart could handle that...:D
Aguamenti June 13th, 2007, 8:39 pm OH YES! I was on the accessible version...no wonder it didn't work! Now it does!
TonytheTerrible June 13th, 2007, 8:40 pm Where I live, it is 23 days, 8 hours, and 20 minutes until 7/7/07, and that means it is 23 days, 3 hours, and 20 minutes in the UK. This can't just be a coincidence.

I don't think it's a coincidence either. I'm really excited to find out what's going to happen. I hope something happends.
olive632 June 13th, 2007, 8:46 pm There was some writing with it but I could only get the clock with it. I will go and check the writing. I wondered about the days too.

Why is it only Vista users can see it? That doesn't make any sense...:hmm:
Spritey June 13th, 2007, 8:47 pm I don't think my heart could handle that...:D
And I'm too young to die! D: Though I can't actually see Olive's screenshot... what are we looking at? Can someone post it again? I want to see whether I have something else to count down to! (My calender, she is a mess!)
Good luck, Spritey. And everyone else who has yet to take the test. It is indeed the last time we'll be taking a Wombat.. I think.
I actually posted that the minute I finished the test (I typed it out beforehand... I do things backwards, yeah), but thanks! I think I'm going to be a T this time, though - w00t for breaking my Exceeds Expectations pattern!
Annett June 13th, 2007, 8:48 pm Yeah, but we already know that "this time" is completely unlike the other two times. Why should this be any different? :D
Good point.:tu:

owlpostgirl June 13th, 2007, 8:55 pm WOMBAT question: Do I fill out the registration card with my old code first? or later?
Annett June 13th, 2007, 8:58 pm WOMBAT question: Do I fill out the registration card with my old code first? or later?
The Card is for when the results are delivered.
Open the test and you will be asked if you have an ID code. put it in.

Spritey June 13th, 2007, 9:03 pm Its in Olive's sig now.
Turning off signatures to cut loading times was a lame idea, wasn't it? Get better internet, Spritey!
Anyway, okay, wow... "new book released in 23 days." They must've gotten it wrong... it's a mistake, right? I can't take any more suspense.
Freaky June 13th, 2007, 9:03 pm WOMBAT question: Do I fill out the registration card with my old code first? or later?
It prompts you to fill in any existing student ID you have when you start to take the test...so you'll know when to fill it in if you already have one.
Annett - your signature has always been that picture...hasn't it?
I'm very curious about Olive's finding. There having been about 6 pages of posts since I came on here yesterday it's very hard to read everyone's so I have no real idea of what she's talking about...so would be intrigued to hear if we are any clearer to finding out what the countdown is actually for!
As for the WOMBAT. My goodness. It's a long time since I was in school and I just found the wording for the questions really difficult. I had trouble understanding the phrasing...so even if I actually knew the answers, I doubt I got them right because I just guessed on many occasions.
Oh well, time will tell. At least I took 2 out of 3 WOMBATS (even if I did copy down the code incorrectly the last time and couldn't access my grade - copy pasted it this time!)
Yoana June 13th, 2007, 9:06 pm 23 days? Could it mean that in 23 days we'll get an encyclepeadia or something, with all the WOMBAT answers?? I know it's a very slim chance, but... That would be just awesome!
TonytheTerrible June 13th, 2007, 9:08 pm so would be intrigued to hear if we are any clearer to finding out what the countdown is actually for!
The countdown says "New Book Released 23 days", which just happens to fall at 12:01 am 7/7/07.

Yes, but I donīt think we will have a surprise and get the book two weeks early. What about all the surrounding acitivities planned like the release parties, JKR interviews, the moonlight signing...
Freaky June 13th, 2007, 9:14 pm Oh and by the way...thank you to everyone who gave the way through to the WOMBAT - I'm no good at scavenger hunt type things, so I'm very happy that you spoon feed me!
Schlubalybub June 13th, 2007, 9:18 pm I'm glad I managed to work it out...by accident mind you...
TonytheTerrible June 13th, 2007, 9:19 pm Yes, but I donīt think we will have a surprise and get the book two weeks early. What about all the surrounding acitivities planned like the release parties, JKR interviews, the moonlight signing...
I was not saying that DH would come out early, but is seems very suspicious that something may happen on that day.

You`re welcome!
Annett - your signature has always been that picture...hasn't it?
Yes it`s always the same since the day after we got the cover with that symbol on it. I was immidiately convinced it has a bigger meaning but I couldn`t convince many at that time. I think that changed today.

I think you probably helped people work out the answer!

Yes I agree Annett. I looked at it whilst I was trying to get it right for the test.
