Neptune July 6th, 2007, 7:19 pm Anyone else a fan of the Discovery Channel show Mythbusters?
It's one of my favrite shows and I always make sure to catch the new episodes every Wednesday.
I would love to do what the Mythbusters do, and actually get paid for it!!!!
Who's your favorite Mythbuster? Adam and Tory are my favorites although I like them all.
LordJackSparrow July 6th, 2007, 7:50 pm I'd watch it, if i got the discovery channel. We watch it in my science class sometimes.Preety good show.
DeathlyHabitue July 6th, 2007, 7:57 pm I too am a fan of the Mythbusters! Whoever came up for the concept of this show's a genius. In the back of my head I have this fear that they will run out of myths but so far that doesn't seemed to have happened. Has anyone seen the "death ray" episode? I saw it last night and its one of my all time favorites.
Neptune July 6th, 2007, 8:19 pm I too have a fear they'll run out of Myths, but I think they have enough for many more episodes...
Has anyone seen the "death ray" episode? I saw it last night and its one of my all time favorites.
I loved the "death ray" episode. Did you see the episode where they revisited the Myth? I know they've worked on the death ray twice.
Flameow July 6th, 2007, 8:51 pm Haha, I love Mythbusters! It's really helped to dispel a lot of these myths that people normally spew out as facts to act like they're smart. I mostly like it for the personalities of the people on there, without that the show would be meaningless.
Neptune July 6th, 2007, 9:21 pm I mostly like it for the personalities of the people on there, without that the show would be meaningless.
I love the interaction between Adam and Jamie. Adam cracks me up and I love when he makes fun of Jamie, normally by picking on him for always being right. They're all so smart on that show, but I find it so funny that Adam is almost always wrong and Jamie is almost always right.
Flameow July 6th, 2007, 9:33 pm I love the interaction between Adam and Jamie. Adam cracks me up and I love when he makes fun of Jamie, normally by picking on him for always being right. They're all so smart on that show, but I find it so funny that Adam is almost always wrong and Jamie is almost always right.
Hahaha, yeah.
Something interesting that I read in a magazine though - apparently Adam and Jamie don't actually hang out or anything, they do nothing together besides the show. They treat each other more as coworkers, and aren't that close at all. It's surprising, because they seem to be really good friends on the show, except for the heated arguments they get in (which I hear are not dramatized/emphasized in any way, those are completely real)
But they sort of are very different people, even though they have the same interests and job, Jamie is more serious about what he does, while Adam is mostly laughs.
MattyI July 6th, 2007, 9:42 pm Argh! I was so disappointed wednesday, since I didn't get to finish the Mythbusters episode I was watching vefore heading out to my fourth of July party.
It was the one where they try smashingtwo tractor-trailors together, matrix-style, but with a compact car in between.

GemmaP July 7th, 2007, 4:12 am We get Mythbusters Down Under!! I absolutly love it, though I believe we are like a series behind you guys. It is so cool!! Currently my favourite episode is the cement truck one!! So much fun!! I love Grant and all his cool mechanical setups!! And the fact that he worked on things like Star Wars and LOTR rocks!!
General_Maximus July 7th, 2007, 4:43 am Kari is the best, then again im an adult male, so there you go.
Hysteria July 7th, 2007, 8:59 am I love Mythbusters, shame it isnt on at the moment.
My favourite myth was the one where they tested if dynamite could remove all of the concrete inside a concrete mixer and they ended up blowing up the whole thing. Great stuff.
OldLupin July 7th, 2007, 1:36 pm How smart are these huys? They took a concept that allows them to break things, blow things up and pretty much do all sorts of cool, yet fairly meaningless experiments, and they get paid for it and financed. Wish I had thought of it!
hermy_weasley2 July 7th, 2007, 2:16 pm How smart are these huys? They took a concept that allows them to break things, blow things up and pretty much do all sorts of cool, yet fairly meaningless experiments, and they get paid for it and financed. Wish I had thought of it!
Wouldn't be awesome?!
I don't watch the show religiously, but I'll stop what I'm doing and watch whenever I catch it on.
I have to say, my favorite MythBuster has to be Buster :agree:.
Nicole July 7th, 2007, 2:20 pm my favorite MythBuster has to be Buster . Poor Buster. :( He's like a Humpty Dumpty that can be put back together again!
Psyche3 July 7th, 2007, 2:31 pm My family and I love MythBusters - we've been watching it forever. I'd say years, but I'm really bad with the whole time thing, and don't know if it's been on for "years."
We like most of the crew - Adam, Jamie, Tory, Grant and Kari, for the most part.
One of my favorite episodes is where they try to set the boat on fire with mirrors, or when Adam and Jamie have their little contest to see who can make the best crossbow with their limited materials - and Adam actually wins!
Honestly though, any episode where they blow stuff up is awesome!
Mad_Druid July 7th, 2007, 2:34 pm Mythubusters is a great show, entertaining and informative. I don't know that I have a favourite...the interaction between Adam and Jamie is what makes it special though I think.
I like the fact that alot of the crew are Australian (or at least used to be). I think that they've rubbed off on Adam a bit too, I've noticed him saying 'bloody' a few times
monkeeshrines July 7th, 2007, 2:53 pm Nah, they won't ever run out. People will always have some sort of seemingly logical, but really irrational fear that spawns tales to prove they were right.
Favorite? Probably Adam, and I agree that the interactions between him and Jamie are... amusing. He keeps making T-shirts of things he says on the show, too, and I think that's pretty funny.
Poor Buster. :( He's like a Humpty Dumpty that can be put back together again!
Over and over and over again, even if it means rebuilding him from scratch!
Gil Galvanti July 7th, 2007, 4:57 pm I love Mythbusters, one of my favorite shows. Don't know if I have a favorite episode. I don't really have a favorite actor either, Adam is hilarious though, and he does his evil sounding laugh everytime something blows up :).
hedwig_3180 July 7th, 2007, 4:59 pm Mythbusters is one of my favorite shows!! I loooove it when they blow stuff up! My favorite episodes are probably the one when Adam and Jamie blow up a "French train station", and when Grant, Tory and Kari blow up lava lamps!!!
lilyseyes July 7th, 2007, 5:09 pm Discovery Channel is getting soooooooooooooooo good. MYTHBUSTERS is so amazing. Id say Adam and Grant are my two favorites. Tho the whole lot of them make me laugh. So far one of my favorite episodes has been the one about dogs. Teaching and old dog new tricks, the attack dog , and my fav the blood hound. Love the show!!! RIght up there with Deadliest Catch!
Danwa July 7th, 2007, 5:12 pm Kari is the best, then again im an adult male, so there you go.
I'm inclined to agree.
IntricateLogic July 7th, 2007, 6:50 pm This show is awesome. They do incredible stuff. I liked the Jaws special, mostly because it was about the 1st movie, which was the best.
gradstudent08 July 7th, 2007, 7:10 pm I love Mythbusters! I'm watching it right now! I love the interactions between Jamie and Adam. The pirate episode and the ninja episode were really great. Especially the part in the ninja show where Adam tries to walk on water with these bizarre wooden paddle shoes. So funny. The build team is great too. And I love Grant. He's great.
hermy_weasley2 July 7th, 2007, 11:48 pm Since we were talking about how great their jobs would be, I'm watching it now and Adam just said "For all of you out there who talk about how great our jobs are, think again." They had just gotten sprayed by a skunk and were taking a shower in tomatoe juice.
flowerchild July 9th, 2007, 6:12 pm Mythbusters is awesome. I only started watching it a few monthes ago but it's so brilliant and it's so interesting because when else would you be able to fing out about water-skiing with rowing boats etc?
Alteclan July 9th, 2007, 10:49 pm omg, more fans of Mythbusters!! yay =D
It's pure enjoyment to watch Jamie and Adam's exchange, though I have to say that some of the myths might be better done with assistance off people who actually know what they're doing (think "concrete glider" episode, wouldn't it turn out a lot better if they have one of the NASA guys helping out on each team instead?)
Nyphadora_Lupin July 9th, 2007, 10:54 pm I adore Mythbusters!
In responce to the post above me, i love that they have no idea what they're doing half the time. To me that just adds to the show. You get the feeling that before they got the show, they were just a bunch of guys hanging out in a basement who were like "so, what strange thing can we come up with today? ooo, lets blow something up."
Alteclan July 9th, 2007, 11:01 pm I adore Mythbusters!

That is true. I have to say that I rather enjoy their cluelessness while watching it in the "watch for entertainment" mindset, but considering the amount of influence they have on people all over the world, it might be desirable to obtain a more concrete result before pronouncing the myth busted or not. With that said, I was happy when they introduced the "plausible" verdict in season 2 (I think) for myths that they cannot reproduce but has confirmed record of such incidents happening.
sorting_socks July 9th, 2007, 11:02 pm Myth Busters...so great...
Sometimes, when I turn on the Discovery Channel, they'll show episode after episode of Myth Busters and I'll watch around four in a row. Myth Busters is perfect because anytime my brother uses some half-baked myth to support one of his arguments, I can say, "Myth Busters proved that wasn't true!" I also like how they respond to feedback viewers give. If a lot of viewers are unhappy with the way they tested a myth, sometimes they'll go and test it again in another episode.
Hysteria July 10th, 2007, 8:35 am I havent met anybody who has seen Mythbusters and doesnt like it. Whats not to like? They blow stuff up :wow: actually... I got told to watch MB by a friend of mine. I was complaining about my TV being a total waste of space... she said I should send it to Mythbusters because "they'd enjoy blowing it up"
I like the special where they tested out all the movie myths like jumping through glass and such.
Schlubalybub July 10th, 2007, 9:20 am Oh I LOVE Mythbusters! I can't watch it anymore because I used to watch it on Sky at my mum and dad's house, but as they have split up and neither of them now have Sky, I can't see it. I haven't seen it on any other channel apart from Discovery, any help?
DarthSkywalker July 10th, 2007, 10:27 am There is one problem with Mythbusters. I can't watch it unless it is in a few hour blocks. The episodes feel to short.
Schlubalybub July 10th, 2007, 10:53 am I feel like that with most programmes
AngelicaSkye July 10th, 2007, 1:14 pm I have never seen this show before as I don't get the discovery channel, ******, is it not ony any other channels? i.e. normal tv or the free channels on Sky?
Alteclan July 10th, 2007, 3:31 pm I don't think you'll be able to find Mythbusters on any channel other than discovery, same reason you don't usually find a si-fi channel original series on another channel. But there are places online where you can find back episodes, tv-link would be a good place to start (apparently it's a legal site).
frag12 August 17th, 2007, 7:42 am Hahaha, yeah.

all of the previous posts have already stated what i wanted to say-so,what i can say is that though i kinda like watching the episodes twice ,i DO NOT LIKE
WATCHING THE SAME EPISODE 6 TIMES!!!:grumble:
its absolutely frustrating-the people at discovery keep showing the same episodes-the cement mixer, jumping in water will save you from a bullet, methods of fooling alcohol brath tests,blah,blah.........
i mean, they air these old episodes all the time everyday(i used to enjoy it when i first began to watch the show but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH) and the only time they show the new episodes is at eleven o clock on saturdays (my regional standard time).:grumble::grumble:
by the way, adam and tori are my favourites too.
ayashe December 3rd, 2007, 3:56 am When I first saw MythBusters, I only saw one scene from it and I thought the two guys I saw were so obnoxious. But my friend Amber kept going on and on about it, and the whole concept is interesting, so I finally sat down and watched an episode all the way through. Now I love it, the only probably I have with it is that it's on the same time as Gossip Girl and I usually end up having to choose between them.
Kari is the best, then again im an adult male, so there you go.
I'm a girl and she's my favorite too, along with Adam. But I also like Tory and Grant too. Jamie... he's so unexpressive. Mind you Adam did get on my nerves a lot the last episode when he kept talking like a pirate... badly.
twinsrule26 December 3rd, 2007, 5:35 am I love the Show some of my favs. are the Spam Rocket and the Civil war Rocket shows . I liked the show where they tried to cut a sword with another sword . the spliting arrows show was cool too. one of my favs was when Jamie & Adam were shooting each other with paint ball guns and Jamie kept hitting the same spot on Adams body with every shot .
For Science I like Grant for funny buffoonery I like Adam .
twins:p
Colonel_Fubster December 3rd, 2007, 6:10 am For Science I like Grant for funny buffoonery I like Adam .
Fully in agreement there, it's so funny when Adam hurts himself!
My favourite moment of all the shows was the huge concrete truck explosion. That was impressive!
I also enjoy the shows where they cover environmental myths, like whether you use more gas driving with the windows down, or with the AC on, and whether it saves power to leave lights on when you leave the room for just a few minutes.
This is a great site that recaps the results of all the experiments they've done: mythbustersresults (http://mythbustersresults.com/)
Desraelda December 3rd, 2007, 9:46 pm For Science I like Grant for funny buffoonery I like Adam .
Grant really knows his stuff and Adam is a lot of fun. But they all amaze me with the complicated machines they build and the lengths to which they will go to test a myth.
I think one of my favorite shows was the ninja myths. Adam was so funny trying to walk across water.
mac_attack December 4th, 2007, 2:06 am I love MythBusters! The one that stands out most clearly in my mind is the one where they tried the myth that the term "son of a gun" came from the civil(?) war when a man was shot and the bullet went through him, got his sperm on it, and then went on to hit a woman, who ended up pregnant from it. Lots of work went into re-creating that one.
They have a few MythBusters episodes on YouTube that they weren't allowed to show on tv for some reason. Most of them are about farts, that might be why?
It would be a cool job to have, definitely! I'm somewhat a pyro, and I shot a rifle(?) once and was barely off the target and ever since I've wanted to go shooting again, so when I see them getting to do cool stuff like that everyday I get jealous. I'm sure it's not all fun though, like the time they put dead pigs in the car and sealed it up for 3 months and then had to come back and clean the whole car out. That would make me beyond sick.
Half_Blood26 December 16th, 2007, 4:50 pm I love MythBusters, I am always quoting them and their Myths in school, it's fun to correct a teacher who thinks they are right:)Anyway, Adam is so funny, and Jamie has his moments, I especially love his laugh.Anyway, I got to go and watch it lol see you later!
Fury December 26th, 2007, 5:25 pm For anyone who wants to know, there is a Mythbusters marathon on Discovery Channel today.
Voldemorts8thHorcrux December 27th, 2007, 11:43 pm It's the only show i really watch on discovery, and it's awesome! It's so cool that they get to do all that stuff, and get paid and famous for it!!!! It's like the perfect dream job!
My favorite mythbuster is probably kari or adam. By the way, why isn't scottie a mythbuster anymore? i see the old episodes, and she's a mythbuster, but the new ones dont have her anymore. I have no idea for my favorite episode though, so many to choose from! One of my favs is the one about Benjamen Franklin and flying a kite in a lighting storm. We actualy watched it in social studies class. Way better than the documentaries :D. It was really funny when they showed him getting electrecuted
Hysteria December 28th, 2007, 5:34 am My favourites are when Adam tries to walk on water like a ninja (that whole ninja episode was great!), testing movie myths like diving through a glass window, and when they blew up a concrete truck! Priceless.
I really like Grant, he's probably my favourite. Hes so nerdy and well... I dont know, he can build such awesome gadgets.
mac_attack December 28th, 2007, 10:15 pm I just saw the one where they tried to bury Jamie (I think it was Jamie) alive. I would've been so scared! And they tried out lots of myths about Coke. I made my sister watch with me.
My only complaint is that the Discovery Channel had some disturbing commercials playing during show breaks! I really didn't need to see the guy eating a live frog or a dead zebra or any of the other things it showed him eating!!! Yuck.
Raine December 28th, 2007, 11:04 pm Haha, I really like this show. They're all so funny sometimes. One of my favorite episodes was the Pirates one. Adam is hilarious. XD Well, they all have their moments. It's a very enjoyable show.
Fury December 29th, 2007, 3:57 pm My only complaint is that the Discovery Channel had some disturbing commercials playing during show breaks! I really didn't need to see the guy eating a live frog or a dead zebra or any of the other things it showed him eating!!! Yuck.
Haha... Man vs. Wild commercials :p
That's Discovery Channel for ya
Voldemorts8thHorcrux December 31st, 2007, 6:41 pm I just saw the one where they tried to bury Jamie (I think it was Jamie) alive. I would've been so scared! And they tried out lots of myths about Coke. I made my sister watch with me.

I thought it was tory and grant.
I dont really know aboutthe Discovery Channel commercials, im usually using that time to do random stuff.
permafrost January 22nd, 2008, 4:07 am What did you think of the James Bond one? It seems to me, at least, like the show's getting a little... showy, if that makes any sense at all. They're all in costumes and making skits, which is a bit odd when you look at the earlier seasons, but I guess it's okay.
LuckyGalleon January 22nd, 2008, 4:43 am It's on right now and as always when I spot it on while flipping channels I leave it on and enjoy!!!
*watches Adam and Jaime exploding jaw breakers*

I just wish Adam would stop with his impersonations/voices... they are so bloody annoying and sometimes it looks like Jamie wants to punch him
Voldemorts8thHorcrux January 22nd, 2008, 10:08 pm I think they're pretty funny and make the show different from normal shows about science. It is getting a bit showy though. I think it's nice, but it's just so different from before
by the way, does anyone know what happened to scotty? I forgot....I've only really watched some of the recent ones and whatever reruns they have.
It's so sad, because mythbusters is now on at 11 at night where i live, and my mom makes me go to bed at like 9 or 9:30.
twinsrule26 January 10th, 2009, 11:56 pm by the way, does anyone know what happened to scotty? I forgot....I've only really watched some of the recent ones and whatever reruns they have.
They had her come bace for the Rocket car episode it said that she has her own welding/metal working business now .
I just watched the show on driving angry V calm and the drinking makes people look better shows they are so cool .
I just love it when Adam falls or does something stupid and gets hurt .
PureBloodGirl January 11th, 2009, 3:19 am I watch MythBusters occasionally. I'm not a fan of the show, but some of the episodes are pretty interesting to watch. I really hate their reactions to what they do though. They just start laughing and being all weird. It annoys the heck out of me.
Luna_Luvr55 May 16th, 2009, 4:41 pm  My family has a Netflix account, and they have MythBusters on Instant Play, so we can watch whatever episode whenever :) Right now, we're watching Diet Coke and Mentos, which is really good. I think my favorite, though, wouls be the episode where they test a bunch of Hollywood myths.
DarkLord7 September 8th, 2009, 9:59 pm I love this show! It's so awesome! It's pretty interesting. I like to watch them blow stuff up too!
twinsrule26 October 4th, 2010, 7:25 am I'm watching the Duct tape 2 show right now .Its fantastic what they're doing with just duct tape .
flimseycauldron December 8th, 2011, 2:13 pm Remember, they're what you would call professionals. Oops.
http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/12/07/mythbusters-cannonball-statement/#disqus_thread
I really am a fan of the show, and I know they were taking precautions its just that that would be a little scary. Lawsuit scary? Maybe not but Discovery and Mythbusters insurance is going to go up that's for sure.
