Do you zoom in on a shot? I mean, is it possible there are people in the shot, but you've trimmed it down to show just part of the shot?

Is picture 4 from Goblet of fire - when Hagrid is edging over to "ask" Madam Maxime to dance?

Ok, well, I'm terrible at this, but here goes.... Number 1 is obviously from PoA, though what exactly, I'm not sure. Not quite sure if it's allowed, and if not, I'm sorry, but I adjusted the image to see it more clearly since previously, it was just black. I know that's kinda the point, but it was just too darn hard. Anyway, it seems to be kind of a wall, and there's writing on it, like a 'R' off to the left, and in the middle middle what looks like 'eye', and maybe an 's'. I could see this all before, it was just hard. Possibly it's in the Shrieking Shack, but I'm very un-100% sure about that. Or, it's possibly after Harry and Hermione save Sirius and they're all in the courtyard place talking right before he leaves again. I'm rambling, aren't I??

And the fourth one is the Yule Ball from GoF, I think.

That one is correct. And trust me you're not annoying.

EDIT: I should mention that I hardly zoom in or zoom out the shot unless it's from a screencap that I did not personally take. So what you see is the size relative to the rest of the screen. I should put up a test screencap for reference so you can imagine how small of a crop/cut I make from the image so it makes it a bit easier.

i'm not guessing here but it doesn't neccesarily have to be Draco. It is a Slytherin..could be any Slytherin. And to mention..in the part when Draco is slashed by the Hippogriff, he iswearing a school jumper over his shirt and under his cloak. Therfore it is perhaps that scene but another Slytherin in the background or a completely different scene...however it is outside. Just thought i'd mention that....have fun guesing.. i'm keeping a low profile for a while.....:lol:

If it's not that, its def. form the scene i think. That uniform is in the 3rd movie, and I think the 4th and 5th too, but not the 1st and 2nd, and we're still not using stuff from the 5th, right? Also, it looks like the Slytherin is outside, so I'm going to agree with popcornzyum. I think it's from the first Care of Magical Creatures class. Plus, whatever's in his hand could be The Monster Book of Monsters

Well that's the problem. Unless you have someone actually take charge of the thread, you really won't know when to act or when to post. I always considered the idea of letting the winner choose the next pic, but problem stems from that is that you'll have to wait for the next person to do it, and chances everyone's concept of what is hard and what is easy difficulty is different. It'd be nice to at least have someone with the primary responsiblity over the thread so they can at least step in if winners don't have the time or skill to produce a new screenshot.

While the thread has gotten to the point where I suppose most people who'd like to participate are involved anywas and will go right to the latest post to find out the new picture. But me personally I do like the idea of the point system because it is a bit more rewarding than just allowing people to pick a new picture for the next screenshot plus it keeps people on their toes for guessing. Not to mention the person who will continue with this thread will be able to make it *very* clear as to what the next screenshot is about and what the point tally is.

But really that's just my thoughts, after a few days I don't really give a care in the world how it turns out. I'd just like to imagine that the success of this thread is based upon a clear and consistent format as opposed to just people doing whatever the heck they want.

Alright, then, what if, I sort of combined our ideas.

You say that someone needs to be in charge of the thread. I could do that if no one protests to that.

I said that the winners could post a new picture, but you say that wouldn't work because of the reliability of the person putting up a picture. So, what if we had the winners post new pics, but if they cant, the thread-runner will. And if they are capable, but they just don't, the thread-runner would post a picture after a given amount of time.

There's always going to be a difference of difficulty opinion no matter what you do, because some people are beginners, and some are not. There's really nothing to change that.

So, the thread would pretty much be like the caption contest, except that it would be guessing the screenshots, just like always.

But, no one died and put me in charge, so do whatever you're gonna do.

I was very dissapointed to see this thread die. It was quite likely my most favourite in the Quidditch Pitch, so I feel it's time it's reborn.

It's Sunday here and it's going to be Sunday everywhere else soon, so we'll start of with something called Sunday Madness.
Sunday Madness

In an effort to give some people to place on the board, I've added a new feature, Sunday Madness where I'll post up 4 different screenshots for people to guess. The rules are as follows


Since this is to get more people involved (and thus more points) you can only pick 1 screenshot to guess at. If you guess correctly, that's it; you get the points for that screenshot and that's it. However if you guess wrong on the screenshot you can choose another screenshot to guess at.


The only exception to Rule #1 is that if 24 hours (1 day) has passed since me posting the pictures and there are remaining pictures that no one has identified correctly; even if you have guessed correctly on a previous screenshot you can now start guessing on any remaining ones left unsolved.


This is a singular effort, so if you choose or accidentally hint at screenshot's answer when you've already won a screenshot, you will be penalized 1 point. That 1 point will be added to the screenshot reward thus making a 3 point win into a 4 point win for anyone one who is allowed to guess for that screenshot. If you're going to help someone, you might as well donate some points to it.


Please label your guesses correctly. I will make sure to make each screenshot be labelled as clearly as possible; so please return the favour with your involvement of making this smooth.


New Rule. I've gotten rid of the 5 screenshots and made them 4. However this time around each screenshot corresponds with each installment. Basically, one screenshot each from PS, CoS, PoA and GoF will be in the collection of 4 screenshots. This makes it easier because now it'll only come down to a process of elimination to guessing which screenshot is which. (i.e. if someone guessed a PS screenshot correctly, only CoS, PoA and GoF remain.


Since OotP is now out Sunday madness with have 5 screenshots, one from each movie.

I don't like Sunday Madness :(. It goes on until some days after if no one guesses them all on Sunday, so that leaves off normal days to play until they are all right :(. I'm just waiting until they're all here to guess for and we can change the image because then we all can continue to guess! :lol:

Um.. your picture was of the deleted scene in GoF where the discuss Crouch's death, and you were also hinting at the deleted scen in PoA when they are all in their pyjamas after Sirius comes into the tower with a knife (sir Cadagon)

Prisoner of Azkaban, and it looks like it is in the Gryffindor Common Room......but when!!!!!? Erm, how bout when I don't know. I would say GoF just because I remember them being in the common room when the camra is going around the room and it was the first time we see Harry and Seamus speak together and he says his mum saw Harry in the Daily Prophet.... That's my guess I guess.

No to all above times(:p) and I thought it'd be really easy to pinpoint the movie just by by seeing its a ROUND lamp (Like those millions of other ROUND things that break... we get a lot of foreshadowing in this movie if you haven't noticed. EVERY lamp is round in this movie)

This makes it easier because it'll only come down to a process of elimination to guessing which screenshot is which. (i.e. if someone guessed a PS screenshot correctly, only CoS, PoA, GoF and OotP remain. You can only pick 1 screenshot to guess at. If you guess correctly, that's it; you get the points for that screenshot and that's it. However if you guess wrong on the screenshot you can choose another screenshot to guess at.

You may only guess once per post.
For each wrong answer, 1 point will be deducted from your talley. For every correct answer, you will receive 3 points
Sunday Madness Rules (Only applicable during Sunday Madness)
The 5 screenshots correspond to each instalment. Basically, one screenshot each from PS, CoS, PoA, GoF and OotP will be in the collection of 5 screenshots. This makes it easier because it'll only come down to a process of elimination to guessing which screenshot is which. (i.e. if someone guessed a PS screenshot correctly, only CoS, PoA, GoF and OotP remain. You can only pick 1 screenshot to guess at. If you guess correctly, that's it; you get the points for that screenshot and that's it. However if you guess wrong on the screenshot you can choose another screenshot to guess at.
The only exception to Rule #2 is that if 24 hours (1 day) has passed since me posting the pictures and there are remaining pictures that no one has identified correctly; even if you have guessed correctly on a previous screenshot you can now start guessing on any remaining ones left unsolved.
