Discussion of the Sagittarius star sign.

It is said that people who are born under Sagittarius are:

optimistic, wise, restless, genius, enthusiastic, adventurous, artistic, honest, outspoken, and independent.

Sagittarians have a positive outlook on life, are full of enterprise, energy, versatility, adventurousness & eagerness to extend experience beyond the physically familiar. They enjoy traveling and exploration, because their minds are constantly open to new dimensions of thought. They are basically ambitious and optimistic, and continue to be so even when their hopes are dashed. Their strongly idealistic natures can also suffer many disappointments without being affected. They are honorable, honest, trustworthy, truthful, generous and sincere, with a passion for justice. They may be on the side of the underdog in society they will fight for any cause they believe to be just, and they tend to be rebellious.

Although generally easygoing, Sagittarius is a fire sign, so Sagittarians typically have a quick temper, but they are usually quick to forget what got them angry in the first place. Sagittarians are forthright communicators, and restless, which can lead to them being reluctant to taking orders."

Sagittarians are known for spontaneous philosophical ramblings, and don’t seem to get bogged down in emotional complexities. They have both profound and wide-ranging minds, equipped with foresight and good judgment, and they can be witty conversationalists. They love to initiate new projects (they make excellent researchers), and have an urge to understand concepts that are new to them. They think at lightning speed and quickly make decisions. They are strong-willed and good at organizing, a combination that gives them the ability to bring any project they undertake to a successful conclusion. Their generosity can be balanced by their extreme care at handling their resources.

Sagittarians are usually held to have a strong love of freedom, and a disdain for routine. Often associated with frankness, Sagittarians do not hesitate to give an honest opinion, which can seem tactless at times – although rarely is their intention to be cruel. The same mind that shows tactlessness can be a beacon of light in confusing times. Leave it to a Sagittarius to step into a messy tangle and sum up the situation with blinding clarity. They’ll be willing to say the truth when all others hide in confusion. This makes them invaluable friends that can guide you back to the clear path when you need honesty rather than enablers.

Sagittarians may strive for maximum enjoyment in life, but too much of a good thing can be problematic, and prudence is difficult for most Sagittarians to acquire. Being overly spiritual or too philosophical, for example, can make them out of touch with the real world. They can also be kiddish and innocent. Though they are blessed with a dynamic mind of high standards, they often mistake love for friendship, and this is one of the most vulnerable areas of Sagittarius. They often find it hard to tell lies, and it's better if they tell the truth. As they are creative and innovative, they may develop an attitude of degrading anything that is old and traditional. Another negative point about Sagittarius is procrastination.

Are you a Sagittarius? Do any of the characteristics above describe you? Discuss

I'm about as close to the description as one could get. It's really kind of strange to read these things that describe you so well. I pretty much fit all of this, both the positive and negative qualities, especially the part about procrastination. And is it just me or does this seem to be a very accurate description of Luna's character??

Definitely describes me, though sometimes I doubt about the research abilities, but that's just me I think, and it comes with time. And it is true that I speak before I think. And my witticisms are sarcastic, which may seem hurtful, though I don't mean it that way. I am artistic, but I also have a love for science and discovering, one of the reasons I want to become a Marine Biologist's is because of the chance to travel and learn more of the world. Procrastination is definitely one of my short-comings, as is the quick temper, though I do tend to forget and say sorry.

Same here. I often just say something, only to realise, oh wait, I probably shouldn't have said that. Just like Hagrid, who so happens to be a Saggitarius as well! Though I have gotten better about stopping myself before I say things that could be hurtful. I have the occasional slip up, but I'm quick enough to fix it.

The description is me to a tee! Especially this part of it, I have always been a positive person no matter what the situation. Those who know me know how true this is. I am also a traveler, I get restless in one place and tend to want to move all the time. I hate the feeling of standing still.

The one thing I think is wrong is the quick temper. I am not an angry person at all.

Well I'm not an angry person either, but that doesn't mean that I don't have a temper if someone really riles me up, though I'm happy to say that rarely happens.

I wonder if that means we are quick to feelings and not just anger. I find that I can have wild mood swings...

I've got a bit of a temper, I'll admit. I used to be much worse about letting it go; I'm much less likely to freak out at the littlest things anymore. But still, if something or someone is really on my nerves...

This is really accurate! My sign is Sagittarius and my Rising Sign is Pisces (which just-so-happens to be my mom's sign). When my dad first told me about astrology he introduced it as a bunch of bologna, but I've always been fascinated by the idea of understanding people's personalities by looking up at the sky. And my horoscope has NEVER been wrong.

My horoscope has been very accurate lately. I am rather surprised. I do find so many similarities between me and my sign. One thing I have that they don't list is a romantic nature. That is one place I always differ. I love hearts and flowers and candles and all that sweet stuff.

It describes to my mom to a tee! She's a Sagittarius, and-what do you say in English...-'full of beans'? Yeah, she's talkative, charasmatic with a huge 'C', and she has more energy than people half her age. Honestly, my mom's the driving force in our family. But I don't really agree with the procrastination part, she's a real go-getter. She rocks really.

That description is 99% accurate for me, especially the last paragraph. I hate traditions, routines, rules, social mores and all that stuff that stops good hearted people from being free and happy. What other purpose is there to life than to be happy? And I've been keeping notebooks filled with my philosophical ramblings since I was 11. I would not say I'm tactless though, I'm reserved. I'm certainly very sarcastic, but I don't unleash it on underserving people. I don't know what else I can say. Everything listed describes me.

ETA: I think it would be interesting to find out what houses people of different Zodiac signs were sorted into. I think a lot of Sags (who fit the above description) would be Ravenclaws.

I am a Sagittarius, but there was only one component that truly fit my personality. It is as follows:

Sagittarians are known for spontaneous philosophical ramblings, and don’t seem to get bogged down in emotional complexities. They have both profound and wide-ranging minds, equipped with foresight and good judgment, and they can be witty conversationalists.

The philosophical ramblings encompass my daily lifestyle. While they make little sense, I do believe that philosophy is merely a myth to follow or reject. And, of course, the procrastination aspect associated with the sign is only too accurate :rotfl:. But everything else...well, I suppose I could blame it on my laziness, as I do not have a wish to explore, simply because I am content with watching something on a screen, not understanding that a picture is biased to the eyes of the photographer, rather than the viewer. And, well, it would take effort to rebel, and of course, it would take effort to get angry :rotfl:. In addition, I am fine with a static lifestyle. I find comfort in familiarity, as I am cautious, and I do not approach new surroundings without prior analysis. In other words, I'm pretty boring :rotfl:.

To be honest, I mostly identify with the Scorpio sign. Though I was not born on the cusp, I, for some reason, find a more accurate reading of my general appearance, with regards to others, within the details attributed to the Scorpios.

Discussion of the Sagittarius star sign.

[i]optimistic, wise, restless, genius, enthusiastic, adventurous, artistic, honest, outspoken, and independent.[QUOTE]

Optimistic, yes.
Restless, yes.
Wise... perhaps but I'm not the best judge of how wise I am.
Genius, certainly not :)
Enthusiastic, absolutely.
Adventurous, at times.
Artistic, maybe, I certainly often feel a need to be creative and that creative burst usually comes out in some art from or other.
Honest, to a fault sometimes.
Outspoken, sometimes. I try to keep my opinion to myself when I disagree with people who I know are very passionate about the topic under discussion and I know all I'd be doing by speaking up is to stir the pot.
Independent, to a fault sometimes. I often feel smothered in relationships because of my huge desire for autonomy.

[QUOTE]They love to initiate new projects (they make excellent researchers), and have an urge to understand concepts that are new to them.

I've always heard Sagittarians are great at starting things, enthusiastic about them in the beginning stages but have a big problem following the project through to the end which describes me to a tee. It's funny that this statement in is this thread because it's usually the research that bogs me down because I end up getting lost in the research and am then not really able to move on.

Sagittarians are usually held to have a strong love of freedom, and a disdain for routine. Often associated with frankness, Sagittarians do not hesitate to give an honest opinion, which can seem tactless at times – although rarely is their intention to be cruel.

I'm very into my routine and really hate when it's broken or when something suddenly comes up to change what I think are the order of operations. I am sort of tactless at times, though.

They’ll be willing to say the truth when all others hide in confusion. This makes them invaluable friends that can guide you back to the clear path when you need honesty rather than enablers.

This is going to get me in trouble with my best friend one of these days because she is constantly looking for people who enable her self-image of being the victim and has this poor-pitiful-me mentality that I just don't put up with. I live in fear of the day my temper gets the better of me and I go off on her about this in particular because she's not the forgiving kind and it would probably end our friendship. I could get over it if she said these kinds of things to me but I don't think she would at all. Sometimes it sucks being a Sagittarian.

I suppose I could blame it on my laziness, as I do not have a wish to explore, simply because I am content with watching something on a screen, not understanding that a picture is biased to the eyes of the photographer, rather than the viewer.

Dude, you're speaking my language. :D I find great comfort in the familiar unless I'm the one to initiate the spontaneity or have the opportunity to acclimate to it in advance like receiving and invitation to dinner or a sporting event in advance so I can decide if I want to do it. I'm also pretty lazy - if I don't have to get dressed on the weekends I tend not to :D I'm not a rebel in the sense that I rebel against social norms but I do sort of rebel against the fact that I'm supposed to live my life in a certain way, follow the formula of the American Dream (go to college, fall in love, get married, have kids, buy a house and a dog and do it all by certain ages - I'll do that stuff in my own time thanks very much) and if someone tells me I have to do something I tend to immediately not want to do it.

I do love traveling, though complete spontaneous exploration terrifies me as I know too many people who volunteer for human trafficking awareness groups to want to do anything too spontaneous. I make a plan and stick to it for my own piece of mind and safety and for the piece of mind of my family knowing where I am.

I'm probably like a 50-60% Sagittarian. A lot of the descriptions I've read (not necessarily this one) describes me but at the same time some of it just doesn't at all.
