Does anyone make jewellery?

I make wire-wrapped stuff but am slowly expanding my skills with more metal working techniques.

I made jewelry for awhile. A couple of friends and I had a small business for a project in High School. We gave all of our proceeds to Special Olympics. I wasn't that good at most of it. I mostly made braceletts. I was much better at the money stuff, but my friends were really good at it. We made a few thousand dollars in a couple of years. It was great.

I like making jewlery....I haven't done it in a while, but when I did, I had a lot of fun and felt more relaxed...If i could get the time I might make something new...

I don't, but I want to! I used to make jewelry and small metal sculpture. It was my focus in art school. Now I'm an art teacher and that takes up all my time.
I used to make a lot more, now I have a two-year-old son... so I can sympathize!

I make jewlery ^^;; Mine's all beaded though.. I don't really know how to work with metal... A few people in my class have taken an interest in my bead jewelery, and want to buy some ^^;;

This is a puzzle ring I made. I received a materials scholarship in school to design a series of puzzle rings.

Wow, how did you made that?

Same here with me, I generally make beaded necklaces and bracelets every now and then. I like to see what I can come up with, using different colored beads and that sort of thing :).

I love making jewlery!!!!!:love::love:I usually always make braclets though. The problem is that I use string and then I have to tie it. Then I have this knot and two strings sticking out of the back of my bracelet. Does anyone have any suggestions on some good clasps to use for braclets and necklesses? Also does anyone have suggestions on making good cute rings? I'm hopeless at making rings!:grumble::no:

Gorgeous puzzle ring Jasper! I hope you find time to make more pieces. I'm at uni so I only really get time during semester breaks but I'm having a stall at a design fair and I'm making some affordable jewellery - mainly from copper and aluminium but also some sterling pieces with agate and aventurine in them. I'll have to post some pics when I finish them.

I'm somewhat of a jewellery designer, I've never made my own pieces but two jewellers in town have made them for me. They know me quite well now because of that.
All I have designed and have had made so far are all HP related in some way, the next piece which is being made right now is a brooch in honour of PotterCast, the show's logo in silver and set with 4 gemstones. I hope to show them that eventually.

Ok, finally found a pic of some of my stuff. I don't actually have any of these pieces anymore - all given away as gifts. Still haven't got around to making myself any pieces, I sell or give away most of my stuff.

In this pic: S/S pink tourmaline ring, S/S aquamarine ring, S/S moonstone ring, S/S smoky quartz and garnet pendant.

I find a lot of nice findings on artbeads.com (http://www.artbeads.com) and no, they didn't pay for my endorsement :p The nice thing about them is that they have a wide price range, from base metal to sterling to gold-filled. Plus, they don't charge shipping for any size order in the continental US. For bracelets, you would need to be able to fasten it with one hand, so a largish lobster claw clasp might be appropriate. If you use toggle clasps, it's important to check and make sure that you take the thickness of the chain or beaded strand into consideration when you pick out a size for the clasp, or the bar might not fit through the ring. Hope that helped some!

I mostly make chain necklaces and bracelets out of chainmaille armor patterns.

I now have a picture of my new brooch (http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m229/HPFanNZ/DSCF2818.jpg).
It was quite expensive and I also got a compliment from Sue Upton, one of the PotterCasters, about it yesterday after posting it on the comments over at the PC site.

Jessica, your brooch is sooo beautiful and very very cool! Great job! Thanks so much for showing us :)

I postively squeed in my head when I saw that comment, the piece may warrant a mention on the show one day.

It can be a bit boring, but I like to put music on while I work. I always feel like I need to be doing two things at the same time xD

I mostly bead, but I'm into the really complicated beading stuff with the fancy clasps, and the special stuff to make those five-string chokers, and using jump rings to attach stuff to hair clips, and stuff like that. I do a bit of wire working, mostly for chain-type things, but I'm currently trying to find something that will soften the sharp wire edge. I have a fear of being poked by a stray bit of wire. I use a beeswax right now, just a little bit on the end, and it sticks it together well to to disguise the gap in the beads and stuff as well, but does anyone have any other recommendations?

My favorite thing to do with designing jewelry is do a theme, in sets. My current plan is to make four sets of jewelry, (Pair of earrings, two bracelets, one necklace, and an anklet, two rings, is what I call a 'set'), with each one themed to a Hogwarts house. And then I can mix-and-match them if I want, wear a Slytherin bracelet one day, with my Ravenclaw earrings or something.

You know, for bracelets, I like to use a elastic cord, bead it, then tie both ends together in a knot (Square knots work best), and then secure the knot with a tiny bit of strong glue, then cut off the extra ends. That way you don't have to worry about bracelet clasps, because they're impossible to do. Just be careful with the glue, and don't get it all over the beads. It's okay if it sticks to the ones right next to the knot (accidentally, don't do it on purpose.), but you don't want it all over the rest of the bracelet.

You can actually do the same with rings as well. Beaded rings. Cut a bit of the elastic cord (You'll want a thin one), to fit around your finger, plus an inch or two on each side, bead it with very very small seed beads, pick a biggish one to go in the middle, tie, and tiny drop of glue. Tada, instant ring.

I used to make jewelry and I loved it! However, other than repairs, I haven't made any jewelry in 2-3 years.

I make some jewelry, mostly earrings and pins.

None of it's very serious...

...and some of it is outright geeky. But I love it.

Well thanks, that's very kind! Not to be too crassly commercial, but they are available (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=70099&section_id=5990324)... :)

My niece also makes earrings. She's not half bad for a twelve-year-old.

I do make some jewelry, mostly slide bracelets. Below is the latest bracelet I've made. I'm debating on if I should sell it or keep it.
