Vig October 6th, 2007, 4:06 pm The twenty-twenty cricket world cup which was held recently in South Africa, really took world by storm.Even purists like me who before the tournament were cynical about this format, got hooked to it. Fast and furiou cricket at its best.
mysterious October 7th, 2007, 1:29 pm I whole series was awesome and it really showed the potential of this form of the game. Its an excellent 3 hr entertainer. It was about time it was appreciated at the international level...for its already quite popular in the Caribbeans.
The time of the game having reduced considerably...I think it might even get introduced in the Olympics. ;)

That would be brilliant!!
I loved the twenty tewnty world cup too, it was really good! Sometimes i think its canging cricket and taking it away from the orgonal, but then i think its making cricket better...so i have no idea of what to think about twenty twenty.
I was watching some of the England vs Sri Lanka match today, it seemed so slow and no fun lol...i laughed!
Hysteria October 8th, 2007, 7:49 am Yeah I heard about the possibility of having 20/20 in the olympics. That would be great. 20/20 has got a lot more girls interested in cricket, my club has found. In this pre-season we've had about 10 additions to the womans' side of the club (we only have 3 teams so 10 is a good intake). I asked one of them (who is about 22 years old) why she deicded to start playing now and she said something like 'because 20/20 is being played now. I dont have time for a one day or longer game with work and everything, so 20/20 is prefect'.
Im not sure about the mens teams but its really helped us, especially considering how little media coverage and credit womans cricket is given.
The World Cup certainly was interesting. Looking forward to the next one (already)!
bloodtraitor13 October 8th, 2007, 8:08 am I agree! 20/20 is a lot more practical then long matches. I really hope it gets added to the olympics.
godrics hollow October 8th, 2007, 4:59 pm I highly enjoyed watching the one 20/20 game that i actually got to order on ppv, but i don't think it is quite olympic quality cricket yet... Right now 20/20 (imo of course) is all about who got luckier that day... wickets that shouldn't have been taken, get taken... etc etc..
One day after about 2 or 3 years, i feel it will be ready to be a full fledged competitive sport... but for now its still too immature for something like the olympics

It's a good length in terms of playing time for an Olympics. We'd have to team up with the Scots and Northern Irish if it happened, though - and if there was any sort of qualification necessary then we probably wouldn't be able to enter at all.

This is the same tournament that let in beach volleyball...
Nys November 15th, 2007, 12:13 am I too love my Cricket, and I'd previously been concerned about Twenty-Twenty cricket as to whether it would just be a slog fest and be souly batter based but its not, a good bowler can still have a great game.

It'd be interesting to see how it went, they had one-dayer's at the Commonwealth games a few years ago and most of the major teams didn't even go...
The_Green_Woods April 13th, 2008, 5:36 pm I love cricket. The test, the one dayer and the 20/20. The 20/20 is fast and requires intense concentration, because a single delivery missed, could cost heavily. It is exciting to watch and all the more so like the recent world cup, when India wins.
Chak De India indeed! :)
sugar_quill April 13th, 2008, 7:21 pm I used to love cricket, then slowly, I lost interest. But T20 is great. Lot of fun and very unpredictable. And it last as long as a movie or a little longer. :D
What do you think about IPL and ICL?
padfootrules April 15th, 2008, 3:06 pm I don't really like ICL. I think it is kinda boring but my home team (the team from Chennai) won both championships so I was excited about that. But I am crazy excited about IPL!!!! I have already purchased my season passes and I have the posters for the Kolkata Knight Riders in my room. I love their anthem and I love the team and I think it might be really a lot of fun. Plus it coincides with the summer vacation so it is perfect! I am a Kolkata fan but I am also going to support the Chennai Super Kings. I am excited how about you guys????
The_Green_Woods April 15th, 2008, 6:01 pm I like the ICL and the IPL but not that much; I also root for the Chennai team; it is all I can do to follow the India matches fully. Sometimes I don't get time for even that. :)
padfootrules April 16th, 2008, 9:25 am My two best friends actually work for the Chennai Super Kings website as journalists. They just got an all season pass for all the games!!!!! I am sooo not jealous

Hmm... Hyderabad won the last tournament. And India XI won the world series. :)

I'm excited about IPL too. I'll be supporting the Deccan Chargers. :) Their team looks good. I wish I could go watch the matches live. Watching it on TV is not as much fun.

See? I couldn't be bothered about ICL... Chennai Chepauk stadium has the costliest tickets but I am def going for three matches - The one against Kolkata, Mohali and Deccan Chargers. I may be the only Indian who is a huge fan of Symmonds
Hysteria April 18th, 2008, 8:47 am I am so pumped for IPL starting tonight :D I'm going for the Kolkata Knight Riders just.... cos. I would love to go to India for one or more games but unfortunately I'll just be up until 3am-ish every night watching it :p
Edit: looking at the two team line-ups I'd say we (Kolkata) have it in the bag!
sugar_quill April 18th, 2008, 1:35 pm The first match is starting in about two hours now. I'm excited!
Looks like I'm the only one here supporting the Deccan Chargers...
TypeZero April 18th, 2008, 3:41 pm Well, I love all cricket, so 20/20 is great. I'll never forget Yuvraj Singh hitting those huge consecutive sixes during the 20/20 World Cup. That was simply...well, I don't really have the words. The format itself is great, especially since it's geared towards the family. Anything that raises the profile of the game is a move in the right direction and 20/20 certainly does that.
Hysteria April 19th, 2008, 2:38 am WHAT a game! McCullum is certainly earning his money! Kolkata have a great mixture of powerful batters (though only McCullum made his mark last night) and great bowlers. I loved Sharma's wicket off his first bowl. Good stuff.
sugar_quill April 19th, 2008, 11:00 am Yeah, it was a great game. And McCullum was awesome. I missed the end of match though. There was a power cut as soon as Zaheer Khan got out. I hope the power cuts don't play spoil sport for the rest of the tournament.
I'm looking forward to the Kolkata Vs Deccan Chargers match. It should be a good one. :D
Hysteria April 20th, 2008, 8:17 am I'm looking forward to the Kolkata Vs Deccan Chargers match. It should be a good one.
Oh yes that'll be a great game! Definately looking forward to that. Mumbai Indians vs Deccan Chargers should be interesting too.
sugar_quill April 21st, 2008, 2:59 pm Deccan Chargers lost. :( But it was an interesting match. I kinda wish the lights didn't come back on, then it would've been a tie. Would they have had a bowl out in those conditions? I mean if you are stopping a match because of bad light, can you have a bowl out in bad light?
