The Hannah Montana Phenomenon

I'm in college and this is one of my favorite shows. I thought I was weird, until I spoke to various people about it (including males) and recieved their full agreement. My boyfriend's cousin has two kids and she buys the soundtracks and DVDs for herself. In short, no one I've spoken to doesn't like Hannah Montana.

Also, I knew that she did tours and stuff, but I had no idea it was such a huge industry. I saw on the news that tickets to her concert are being resold for thousands of dollars (for those of you that haven't heard: click here (http://www.turnto10.com/northeast/jar/news.apx.-content-articles-JAR-2007-10-05-0026.html)).
I can't imagine anyone paying that much for a ticket to see Hannah Montana!
Has anyone been to any of her concerts? What is your favorite character in the show? Favorite songs?

I love Hannah Montana! The show is awesome and so are the songs. One of my fave songs has to be "Nobody's Perfect" because it's so upbeat and has a good lesson in it. My fave character on the show has to be Jackson, although I like the others as well.

Yes, Miley Cyrus has an amazing voice and I love the show. You're right about older people liking it too, because my 15-year-old sister watches it more than I do!

Oh my word! i love her! Miley has a great voice and she is an amazing actress. I wanted to go to her concert so badly but i was camping when the tickets went on sale and they were sold out when i got home, which was only 3 days later! I was sooo sad!

My favorite song is one in a million from Hannah and G.N.O. from Miley. They are the ones that speak to me the most. My favorite character is Emily and Jake, just cause they are the funniest.

Nobody's Perfect, and Life's What You Make It have to be my favorite Season 2 Hannah songs. I also love One In A Million because it mirrors my relationship with my BF.

From season 1, i really liked if we were a movie. i didn't even know what episode it came from for a wile when i bought the CD but i loved it!

Hey, that's cool. I like Best of Both Worlds from season 1, but I like the season two songs a little bit more. I think it's because they have more of a variety than the season 1 songs, which were all about the double life of Miley and Hannah.

i agree. Thats why i liked we were a movie best, bacause it wasn't about the double life. But i really like the 2nd season. its great. I also really like the episode where billy ray wrote a song for miley. That is great. especially the duet version.

i don't mind it, but it's not my favorite show ever. she's supposed to be here, and a lot of the radio stations are doing contests so parents can win the tickets for their kids (example: Kiss Our Hiney for Hannah, where you have to suck up to the DJs and if you do well enough, you go on to the next round where you have a chance to win tickets). seriously, it's as big as the world series tickets (i live in denver, btw)

On the way to work this morning, I listed to a man who called in on a radio show and said that he purchased 10 tickets to a local Hannah Montana show for his daughters and their friends. Two of the friends ended up having to back out so the man sold his tickets on eBay. He got $1200 a piece for them! He had originally only paid $50 for each ticket. Now that is fan devotion at its extreme!

I'm think they edit her voice on the cds, because on the shows, her voice is a bit fuzzy. It's not that she isn't talented, its just that age problem. Once her voice changes a bit, she'll be way better.

Its not in concerts, its on small things, like talk shows and that sort of thing. Like there was this one episode, where Hannah pretends to date Jackson, where she sings if we were a movie on some talk show, and her voice was kind of fuzzy

I'm really not getting this fuzzy voice thing. I'm watching Hannah Montana right now, trying to pick it out, but i'm not getting it.

I also just listened to G.N.O. on the radio and i couldn't find the fuzzyness in that either.

Yeah, I remember that episode. Yeah, it did sound different in that. I also agree that Life's What You Make It does sound different when she sings it live, but it could be because of the microphone or something.

I think it's the way the microphone is. They want her to kinda sound like a robot when she sings it, but on the CD it sounds good.

is jackson actually thirty? that isn't creepy and wierd or anything. and we were talking about how the hp actors might be too old to play their roles...

personally, i like the show a bit, it can be funny, but there are better shows. her songs are good, but not great, and she doesn't have a great voice or anything. i don't like the blonde wig at all, it annoys me to no end, she has such pretty reddish brown hair. im sure miley in real life is a lovely person but sometimes her tv character gets on my nerves.

I am 24 and I love Hannah Montana! My little sister watches it and is obsessed! We have a good time. I love the song If we were a movie, and I also love Billy Ray's Ready, set, don't go. Makes my eyes well up :)

My sister was so bummed when the tickets sold out. It was like in 10 minutes because I was going to buy some so we could go. Honestly how can you reconcile spending thousands of dollars on a concert ticket. I don't care if Elvis came back to life for one show, I wouldn't pay that much to see him (and I happen to love the King, thank you very much:)) I am just going to (regretfully) take her to see the 3-D movie of the concert. Won't be as fun but she is desperate.

I don't really get why some people sort of see miley and hannah as different people. Miley has two different identities in the rockstar world too! I loved Miley's latest songthough, start all over (by the way, why do people say she's an avril poser? there are a lotof other ppl like avril lavigne, and miley just does not seem like an avril).

And about the whole "no nonblondes thing", avril lavigne was so popular and loved by her fans when she still had brown hair. Some see her as trying to strive and "fit in" with all the other blondes and not being different and stuff after she dyed it.

Have you guys seen the music video for "Start all over" It is so weird yet really cool. They have Miley wear a wig as hannah because that is the point of the show. The point was to be about a pop star that is secret because she wants to have a normal life and not have to deal with all the famey poperatsi (sp?) ****. thats why seh wears the wig. And even though every one knows they are the same, it doesn't matter because the blond wig is the hannah image.

I really like "as i am" and "GNO" personally. I also like "See you Again" and that one is even playing on Z100 now. I don't know if that is just a portland station or not, but that is a station that pretty much only plays rap and **** like that.

My dad came home and he was amazed because the movie tickets are sold out and he was amazed that on the classic rock station he was listening to, was giving away movie tickets for the 3-D movie. It was really funny.

I'm not a huge fan, I actually think the show is sort of lame....i've watched it a few times since my sister loves the show,and only found like a couple things funny (who writes it?:huh:). I think the obsession is getting a bit too big, I can't go in a store without seeing something that isn't Hanna Montana in every single aisle....I can't deny her voice isn't bad (i've heard better though), but I hate how every single song is pretty much pop. Really? she's that popular :huh:? No one really likes her that much in my grade though some younger kids do at my school. It really bothers me when my friend talks about how awesome she is. She does look better as Miley. I think the only reason she has the blond wig though is because of the show. It is all about her trying to hide her double life, so she had to have a disguise.

I think it is refreshing that her voice is different. I mean its not the best, but it is still really good. She has a really pretty, husky sounding vioce that is way different from alot of popstars.

The best thing about her though is that she IS a good role model for young girls. I mean with everything girls see in the media nowadays, its nice to have a girl who is so wholesome. I mean yes her show can be corny, and yes her songs can be too, but at least its not all about sex with her. Its just feel good music young girls can get a good message from.

I don't get the appeal of Hannah Montana or Miley Cirus. I watched the show a few times when it first started, and it bored me to tears. She isn't even that good of a singer. When she performed on Idol Gives Back last Wednesday I left the room. She is very pretty but I don't care for her TV show or music at all.

I have major issues with the whole Hannah Montana Phenomenon. (I actually have major issues with lots of Hollywood :lol:) I really think that she is too young to be involved in so much of Hollywood. I think Hollywood forces teens to grow up so quickly and also makes them focus more on things like image and such. Plus all that money she makes that could be going to worthwhile causes. Okay, mini-rant over.

I completely agree with all of this. For some reason she rubs me the wrong way...maybe it's jealousy (because she's slightly younger than me and a pretty good singer) or whatever. I really don't like most of her music, with the exception of "See You Again", which I would probably adore if it were by someone else and she didn't stick her name in there. ;) I like the show enough to watch it when I'm bored. I think what really bothers me about her is how selfish and stuck-up her character can be on the show. I'm not sure if this is meant to be a replication of her and her values but if it is I'm glad I haven't met her. She seems superficial and materialistic, which I really can't stand. But as far as role models for young girls go, she's an acceptable choice seeing as she hasn't been running around naked and doing drugs and getting pregnant.

So that's how I feel. :lol:

I am getting really annoyed now. There were some photos of her on some magazine where she is half naked except for a blanket and people are making such a big deal out of it!!!! I mean really, it's only showing her back, even rated G stuff has stuff worse than that. the media is just waiting for her to slip up and in the meantime, they're making a big deal out of tiny things. I hope she never has to really worry about them coming after her. I'm not her biggest fan, but no one deserves this. I can't see why the media can't handle that she's got basically no dirt on her and stuff like that.

if only there was a really extreme smiley for what I'm feeling right now.... Anyways, what's wrong with people!!! Why can't they just accept that she's...miley? They're basically punishing her for being innocent! I'm not the biggest Miley fan, at least with singing, but I really am starting to admire her in that she still is innocent and a great role model for kids and her fans and haven't done something dumbwith her career yet.

I really dont like Mylie Cyrus, or Hannah Montana. But I will admit when my sister turns it on, I actually watch it and enjoy myself. I mean her show is soooo funny, it always makes me laugh. And I like her song "Rockstar" and "True Friend". Those are actually really nice songs in my opnion. But I can not stand, "See You Again" "GNO" or "Fly On the Wall", those are the only songs of hers that I truly dislike.

I cannot stand Hannah Montana anymore. Luckily, this may be the end of her. There's supposed to be some Hannah Montana movie coming out soon and it is going to be the end of all things Hannah Montana. The thing that annoys me most about the Hanna Montana phenomenon are the amount of fully grown adults who seem to be enthusiastically hoping that Miley Cyrus crashes and burns.

She seems like a perfectly nice person, yet there is so much hostility against her.

I just heard this song on country radio the other day and I was thinking, "oh God, Miley Cyrus is continuing to invade country?!" but I was wrong...it just sounded a lot like her, that manly voice you know? :lol: :relax: And the song is called "Skinny Dipping", so I thought that was disturbing considering she's not even 18 yet. Thank God it wasn't really her and I hope she stays away from country music from now on.

The song she did as a duet with her dad Billy Ray Cyrus (who's gone so downhill) was alright, but her solo "country" single called The Climb just sounded awful. I have to say that her new single sounds even worse though. It's called "Party in the USA" and it's sooo synthesized...

The only song I care to listen to by her is Party In the USA. It's just a very happy and catchy song; at first I hated it, but then when my sister and mom continued listening to it, it kind of grew on me. :lol:

Ok, it wasn't the cleverest thing she has done, but every teenager I know does this. They just aren't famous so they aren't worried that their pics will spread through the internet. They keep them for themselves. Also, I suppose every other famous, including famous Hollywood stars have done a lot more worse photos. Miley just posed naughty in a swimsuit with a friend and with her own camera.

Oh, come on, have you seen Lady Gaga on stage? :lol: Miley's performance wasn't that bad, and she's more famous than Gaga. Also, I know Miley's a very good person, the image she gave in the choise awards wasn't her original image. Her original image is how she is on the Climb video-clip. I know that, because I have seen all of her interviews and she's really sweet and kind with all everyone. Plus, from the "Hannah Montana" movie and from some concerts she had gave, all the money she took she gave it to the poor.

Trust me, I wouldn't like someone who has a bad personality. I always first do a research before I decide I'm an official fan of a singer or actor/actress. I used to like Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears very much until they started being so bad people. :)

Yes, Miley and Gaga really can't be compared. Have you seen the Paparazzi music video? It is not very appropriate for anyone younger than the age of 13, and I don't even like it for some of it's content.

Though I do like Gaga's music, hopefully Miley will never become like her. She should really stay pure and not get caught up in all the pressures of Hollywood and start to do reckless things and become someone liky say, Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears.

Yes, Miley and Gaga really can't be compared. Have you seen the Paparazzi music video? It is not very appropriate for anyone younger than the age of 13, and I don't even like it for some of it's content..

And I just found out that she was voted "The Worst Celeb Influence of 2009" beating out Britney Spears, Kanye West, Vanessa Hudgens, and Shia Labeouf for the top spot (see below)...although it's probably something you don't want to win :lol: Personally I think Kanye is actually more deserving of this un-wanted title, but whatever... :shrug:

I love Hannah and Miley! Yes, I know some of you may hate me for this, but it's true. Miley is a GREAT singer, WAAAY better than Lady Gaga or Brittany Spears. I've admired her since she got her start in Hannah Montana, and i've watched the show ever since. And sure, she did some bad things, but don't we all? She's my role model!

I still think she sings beautiful. :) And it's live. I just love this song!

Also, she's both a great actress and singer. And me, including everyone I know, has never seen nude pictures of her on the Internet. AS for that performance in the Awards, I think people should stop judging her, because she's now a legal adult and can wear and do whatever she wants without being afraid that some people will call her a "bad role-model". That's silly. She never said: "Hey little kids! Do whatever I do, and follow my steps, because I'm a role-model!" Maybe Hannah Montana is a role-model, but Miley not IMO. In addition, haven't you heard about celebrities just as famous as her who have done much more worst things? Illegal things and stuff. I think Miley is a good person compared to them.

I'm divided how I feel about her sexy appeal. I do believe her edgy style is her true side & she's only getting flack because of her age but for her age & her status to influence is a concern. But then again, she's not responsible for the parent's child. Whatever. I just love her :)

I don't know why people hate her. They don't even know her. I believe she's just a girl who is hated by people because she managed to make a huge career from her 16. (And no, not due to her dad.:huh:)

Can I just say that I completely agree :) Miley is great, and she has done so well for being so famous at an age so young.

I don't hate her, but I don't like her music or show at all. I don't think she is a good actress. And I mean, she isn't the worst singer but definitely not good..at least not to me. I do like the lyrics of "The Climb" and "7 Things" although I don't like the video for it. Like, 12 year old girls saying "love"? Eh.

I have to ask, does she have sort of a speech impediment or lispy thing or something? I have never quite been able to put my finger on it.
