Skillet - if you don't listen to anything else you've got to try their newest CD, came out about a year ago called Comatose, greatest cd ever, or at least one of them ,lol.

Hmmm, that's the ones I'm currently listening to a lot, but I love a lot of Christian Music

On that list I've heard one song by MercyMe (I can only imagine...great song!) and I LOVE Skillet!!!!! I didn't actually know they were a Christian group until a week or so ago. They are really good!

ohhh, if you like I can Only Imagine, you've got to hear some of MercyMe's other stuff, that's just the tip of the iceberg.

So far, my fave album overall is Undone, but as far as songs, I love Spoken For, Word of God Speak, Undone, Homesick, umm and I think it's called Bring it On from their last album.

They have a Christmas album that's great too

I'm not into mercyme so much, because they get played a lot, but i really love...

Oh, I like Relient K too! Hahaha, most of these I haven't heard of but some I have. I didn't know sixpence none the richer were christian rock.

Has anyone listened to Jericho Road? Technically they are Mormon, but it still counts cause Mormon is Christian too. My favorite song of theirs is Every Single Tear! (That one that goes...He sees every single tear, feels everything you're feeling, wants to hold you close and dry your eyes. Your heart is what he hears when the world just hears you crying. No matter what the pain, he cares about every single tear) And For the Love of A Woman. :blush:

I'm all excited, I have fourth row tickets to see Casting Crowns in two weeks, I'm taking my mom. I was suppose to go and see Toby again a few weeks ago but that didn't pan out.

Does anyone listen to Kenneth Cope? He's a singer/songwriter...he wrote the very popular song His Hands. I randomly found one of his cds in a music store and bought it on a whim because one of the song titles was Andrea, my name. ;) I hadn't even heard of him before I found the cd, but now I love it! I really like the song Eden's Garden, about his daughter. :love:

Skillet is amazing! I love Pillar too! Tobymac, Mercyme, The Newsboys (saw them in concert!), Hawk Nelson (saw them in concert!), Relient K, Switchfoot, Casting Crowns, Reel Big Fish, Nicole Nordeman, Krystal Meyers, Barlow Girl, Jeremy Camp, and Superchick (saw them in concert!) are just some of my other favorites :lol:

I like Third Day, Rebecca St. James, Bethany Dillon, and Casting Crowns.

I don't listen to Christian because I am Christian (even though I am), I listen to it because I know that it will be clean. I don't have to worry about bad language or lyrics that disscuss inappropriate subjects. Barlow Girl is definitely my favorite Christian group. I have their album Another Journal Entry, and it's probably the CD that I listen to the most out of all my music. I first heard their song I Need You to Love Me on YouTube, and I loved it, so I found out who the artist was. That has to be my favorite song on the CD, but I also love Never Alone, Porcelin Heart, and Enough.

So many great artists and some I havent heard of that I am going to check out. I wanted to add Michael W. Smith... Our God is an awesome God.

I listen to Christian music because NO matter how sad I am, it always makes me feel better, & it helps me stay on track to be a good Christian. I should listen to Christian music AHLOT moree than I do.

Not heard of half this stuff. :lol: I'm not massively into the Christian music scene, although I do like contemporary worship.

I have heard of Casting Crowns and Jars of Clay.

I really like delirious? -- very U2 in their style, musically excellent, and with beautiful lyrics.

I love a lot of Matt Redman's songs, although not every single one. (I love The Father's Song, Blessed be your name and You never let go.)

You can't really go wrong with Stuart Townend/Keith Getty ...

Or Michael W. Smith.

I like the New Irish Hymns albums, featuring many new hymns by Stuart Townend/Keith Getty and the voices of Kristin Getty, Moya Brennan (of Clannad), Joanne Hogg (of Iona) and Margaret Becker.

But my favourite Christian band, hands down, even more than the excellent delirious?, is the fabulous Iona. http://www.iona.uk.com/newindex/homepage.html

Their music is a fusion of folk, rock, jazz and ambient, and very informed by Celtic Christianity. They're a wee bit like a Christian version of the great Irish group Clannad, except that Clannad are more folk-y, I suppose (at least in their early stuff).

I particularly love Iona's earlier albums: Iona (1990), The Book of Kells (their amazing concept album of 1992) and Journey into the Morn (1995).


As is clear, I prefer the contemplative end of the spectrum. :cool:

But I can rock it down to delirious? too. ;) I do find their music very worshipful, actually. :)

I'm not religious by any stretch of the imagination but listening to their songs could just about convert me :lol: Stephen Christian is a wonderful lyricist. So uplifting and beautiful.

Due I just hear spanish (because I'm Latin American) christian music then I shall answer with those artists who really caught my attention in the Spanish kingdom.

Reliant K-I love their variety of songs. I saw them in concert, it was so cool listening to them!
Superchick-Their lyrics to their songs, really lift me up.
Barlowgirl- I like listening to their music because I can relate to a lot of their songs.
Hawk Nelson-I saw them(personally) play some songs live and it was amazing!
Toby Mac-His songs are upbeat, and fun to listen to.

Relient K and David Crowder Band are my favorites. :) I also really like The Fray and Red. I grew up listening to dcTalk and I was uber upset when they broke up.

Well, that's a difficult question... There are many Christian bands that I like (though I suspect that most people don't know the bands that I'm going to mention...)

1. Hilastherion (christian melodic death metal)
2. HB (could be seen as 'gothic metal')
3. Seventh Avenue (power metal)
4. Immortal Souls (melodic death metal)
5. Fireflight (gothic rock or something.) It's nice to see that there are other fireflight fans on this forum ;).

Hillsong United. Healer, The Stand, To Know Your Name, What The World Will Never Take... all great songs, and only a few of their best.

David Crowder is pretty good.

Like a few Kutless songs. All Who Are Thirsty is my recent favorite of theirs.

I can guarantee they are. Having met them several times, and... in fact, just read the CD booklets, that should clear it up :lol: They're still one of my favourite bands of all time and probably always will be. Lovely guys, very talented, great lyrics.
And yes, they're quite hardcore Christian.

Yeah, I heard that as well. I guess that what Anberlin was trying to do was not label or have anyone else label them as a "christian" band even though they might be Christians. They just want to be a good band without any labels. Just thought it was funny me and my boyfriends discussion every single time an Anberlin song plays, we'll go back and forth. :D

Yeah. I mean, there are plenty of bands who are Christians themselves but they don't want to be labeled as a christian band, or have their personal religious views in their lyrics, which is understandable. They don't want people to hear, "christian band" and have those people not listen to their music just because of that label. Those people wouldn't matter to me, IMO though. I just always thought they were because their cd was in a christian book store where I live. Like the band Thrice. They say the same things as Anberlin but some of their lyrics say otherwise. I don't care if a band is christian, Christians or not, if I think the band is good and the lyrics are meaningful and good, then it doesn't matter to me. :D

Well, I wouldn't say she's contemporary or alternative, more praise/worship, but I've been listening to Kim Walker's music (she's part of Jesus Culture). She has, honestly, the most beautiful voice I've ever heard.

4. Kutless (These guys are just becoming popular with "What Faith Can Do" but their old stuff is good too. Check out Sea of Faces.)

Newsboys have a new lead singer. It's Michael Tait. He used to sing for DC Talk. So technically they did break up, but they got back together and are even more awesome than ever before!

The point is it's not really Newsboys anymore, without Peter Furler and Phil Joel and all the other chaps :( I do admit, though, the 'new' Newsboys is excellent as well.

1. Meaghan Smith (I love the sound, reminds me of The Puppini Sisters)
2. Mindy Gledhill (Her voice is amazing, like a mix between Regina Spektor and Imogen Heap, and her songs are just whimsical and lovely)
3. Needtobreathe (I'm slightly embarrassed to admit I love them. They're a bit too country for me, but tthe lyrics are just so pretty!)
4. Alex Boye (Homeless child turned pop star turned gospel singer. I love his voice and the passion in his songs. Also I've met him 3 times and he's an all-around awesome, hilarious, genuinely wonderful guy)

In general, my favorites are Hillsong, Hillsong United, Rascal Flatts, Steven Curtis Chapman, Jars of Clay.
