Anyway, mine's Scorpio:

My rising sign is apparently Gemini. There are a few things that sound like me such as doing new things, like to read, write and talk, appearing younger than I actually am. But that's about it. Funnily enough, I read your Scorpio Rising one and feel that sounds more like me :shrug:

I always wondered how you get your ascendant and what it means.

I am Scorpio too and that what's written above is mostly me. I am surprised how accurate it it. The most other things mentioned on the site were right too.

Rising Sign is in 19 Degrees Virgo

Well, I'm actually kind of still a newbie to all this, but my understanding is that to calculate a full natal chart (which is what the link I gave is), you need your date of birth, the location and the time you were born. It's not all for the rising sign - the time bit does that :]

See, what I love is that there's so much more to astrology than your Sun sign (which is what we talk about when we say "star sign"); in reality, the top three parts of your chart are the Sun sign, the Moon sign, and the Ascendant. I was going to make a thread for Moon signs, too, but I wanted to see whether this one was useful first. There's also lots of fun parts to your chart that explain things like how you communicate (the Mercury bit), but that all gets a bit complicated for one thread...

Yeah, I get that. For me, I've often been told I'm a bit moody-looking when you first meet me, when really underneath I'm just the biggest dork there is who is pathetically desperate to make friends with everyone. I'm also pretty terrible for my sarcasm when I feel threatened. Scorpio rising is hard! :rolleyes:

My ascendant is Aries, my sun is Leo, my moon is Aquarius and my Mercury is Leo! :lol: All positive signs. Pretty interesting.

I wonder what it means to have all of those together. I act a bit like an Aries - I'm spontaneous, independent and I get restless easily. But isn't an ascendant what other people see? I might come off as a bit shy to others I don't know. Hm . . . .

No, Scorpio and Taurus are the opposites. My Sun is Scorpio and my Rising is Taurus. My Scorpio says ... Yeah, let's do it!!! And my Tuarus says ... Now, now, now, let's think about it. Makes it hard for me to make decisions.

Yes, they all apply. Each planet means something, and the house in which it is placed means something. For example, if you have Mars (conflict, wounds, scars) in your sixth house (health, employment, servants) it could mean that you will undergo surgery at some point.

Also, the angles of the planets mean something. If two planets are within 6 degrees of each other, they are conjunct. There's also opposition (180 degrees), square (90 degrees) and trine (60 degrees).

There are a lot of details to consider when reading a chart and many things, while based on objective factors, are open to subjective interpretation.

And if you read your daily horoscope, be sure to read your rising sign as well as your sun sign.

I've got a Libra Rising, an astrologer friend told me years ago. It's mostly true.

I'm not really a social butterfly, I'm actually very very shy and don't make friends all that easily. I am very lazy though. I think my Mercury sign is pretty spot on actually. Actually, reading through them all...I'm a bit of a walking contridiction.

I would have to agree that my rising sign is very true. I can't accept change, so much so that even the changing of seasons hits me dramatically. I like security and so far my bedroom is my only secure place. I don't have a secure lifestyle.

Problem is... i'm not caring much for my health and cleanliness and never really have considering my parents didn't teach me how to bathe properly.. blah blah. Sorry Nora. It really only means that you were born around dawn. Think of the Ascendant as being the horizon, and every 2 hours the sun passes though another sign on it's way around the circle. If you were born at sunset your ascendant would be opposite your sun. My husband's a double Libra he was born close to dawn.

Also your ascendent will be colored by any planets near it, or conjunct within 10 degrees (above and below) which is probably more information than this discussion needs.

I've been studying astrology for a few years and I think you really have to take into account how the planets in the signs and houses work or don't work for you.

I'm a Libra rising same a a few here that have already been posted, with the sun in Leo. I think that when people first meet me that it's the Leo that comes through which doesn't surprise me as it is most elevated in my chart (it's nearest the top of it) and in its natural sign (the sun rules Leo). But that my nature is more wishy-washy, or rather airy-fairy as Libra is an air sign. I can't even choose a favorite movie. I'm a graphic artist by trade which also fits better with my rising sign than my sun sign (though I'm not sure what Leos do for a living besides lay around and be royal, which I wouldn't mind if someone would support me.):lol:

It's quite weird, I was born right in between Aries and Pisces. I have some of the Arian and Piscesian qualities, but in looks I'm a Pisces, and 90% of the Pisces thing is true. As for the Aries, I am competitive, full of power, fire and desire, also ready for battle. Everything else is Pisces.

Pisces ascendant on the outside: They are people of medium or shorter size, can easily gain weight, especially in mature age. Round head, light skin, fatter cheeks. Hair is wavy or very dense, black or darker color. Eyes are either black/dark or blue. Full, sensual lips. Small fists and feet, slow and unusual walk. I was surprised to find planets exactly on both at my time of birth, rather uncommon, I'm sure. I'm a cancerian sunsign, with Uranus smack on the ascendant, and Mars dead right on the midheaven.
