liquid_silver October 9th, 2007, 9:10 pm Any Evanescence fans out there?
If so:
What's your favorite song?
Favorite video?
Ben Moody's departure: are you mourning or celebrating?
Which is better, Fallen or The Open Door?
What, specifically, do you like about them?
What are some of your other favorite bands/musicians?
Any other comments on the band?
Fawkesfan1 October 9th, 2007, 9:36 pm I'm a fan of Evanescence myself :).
My favorite song by them is Call Me When You're Sober.
I like their music for the most part.
Raven_Girly October 9th, 2007, 10:13 pm I got Fallen for my birthday a few years ago and although I wasn't really a fan, I gave it a spin and found that some of their songs are really good. They're not a favourite band of mine but they are okay. I haven't listened to The Open Door yet mainly because I didn't really like the singles that came out from it.
lacrymosa92 November 24th, 2007, 2:10 am Favorite song: too many favorites
Favorite album: Open Door
What I like about Evanescence: the fact that there's a mixture of piano and rock
Other favorite bands: Hoobastank, System of a Down, Metallica, Korn, and more!
carino November 25th, 2007, 12:01 am Hmmm...fave song...Snow White Queen.
Not Complaining about the Ben Moody Thing.
I like TOD better
I love the piano and Amy Lee's voice.
They're one of my favorites.
4ever November 26th, 2007, 6:52 pm i dont like personality Eva. but their some sings are good for listening
Voldemorts8thHorcrux December 31st, 2007, 12:25 am Evanescence is awesome!!!!! I love the music and lyrics. Amy Lee's voice is really good, but it's kind of hard to understand at times. I really only just started liking them, so I haven't really hard all their songs. My favorite song is Going Under.
mugglesrock December 31st, 2007, 3:58 am I idolize Amy Lee. Evanescence is simply perfection. My favorite songs by them are My Immortal, Bring Me To Life, Solitude, Sweet Sacrifice... actually, I shouldn't list them all. Bring Me To Life has a cool video!
LoonyMagic December 31st, 2007, 9:30 pm Amy Lee's voice is absolutely amazing! I envy her ability to make it look so easy. Often when I can't get to sleep, I'll get my ipod out and listen to My Immortal - it's such a beautiful song!
Jedi_Girl January 3rd, 2008, 3:51 am Amy Lee is amazing. I'm sad that Ben left, but glad that he does have a couple of songs out, I've only heard two though...
imacheeto January 4th, 2008, 5:12 am I'm not a fan, but the band's pretty good...I don't like all their songs, but they're not bad.
Voldemorts8thHorcrux January 4th, 2008, 9:51 pm What I don't get is why my friend's mom wont let her go see them. It's not like their music is really inappropriate, and they don't wear anything revealing or inappropriate (i love amy lee's clothes though, especially her shirt in the Going Under when she's onstage). Her music is just amazing!!!!!!!
LeeAmyLee January 7th, 2008, 5:16 pm Evanescence Are The Best Band ever!
I Love amy Her Voice is soo Amazing ... They Are the best. I cant pick a favourite song or video i love them all :D
Voldemorts8thHorcrux January 7th, 2008, 8:15 pm Random Amy Lee thought: In Everybody's Fool, it was kind of about how some people are happy on the outside and sad on the inside. I wonder how Amy is in real life.
unmellowyellowz February 12th, 2008, 10:35 pm I love Evanescence. They're definitly my favourite band, and I've been a fan for quite some time now. I can relate with a lot of their songs, and they all (for the most part) hold a lot of meaning to me. I love their instrumentals.. and Amy's voice is, zomgz awesome. :D
I don't know if I have a favourite song really, it'd probably be between.. Whisper (Fallen version), Field of Innocence, Missing and Lacrymosa.
I definitly think TOD is the better album, but at the moment I am really starting to re-discover what made me fall in love with them in the first place (Which was Fallen)
I am kind of sad Ben left, but at the same time I am happy. I think with Ben, they would have ended up doing a lot of similar work to what they had already done.. and I think with him they wouldn't have had that time to mature their music. He was definitly a great writer, and an amazing guitarist.. but I don't think there would be much more Evanescence with him in the band still.
SparklingGray February 12th, 2008, 10:55 pm *waves hand frantically* Huge fan of Evanescence, RIGHT HERE! I am just absolutely in love with their music and Amy Lee's voice.
I can't even being to describe how I feel about Evanescence! Their music has just helped me through so much and was the reason for me getting into music in the first place. xD
I consider myself a fairly recent fan compared to alot of the others, who've been around since "Fallen", "Origin" or even the Ev EP! I first saw the BMTL music video at my babysitter's back when I was younger, but I didn't pay much attention. I later rented the "Daredevil" movie years later and heard BMTL again but didn't realise I had heard it before. I was in love with the song, but I didn't bother searching up who it was or what it was called. I believe it was in either July or August of 2006 that I really paid attention to them. I was randomly browsing through YouTube and then I ran into an AMV that had the song "Taking Over Me" from their major-label debut. I was blown away. The piano intro, the instruments, the relatable lyrics and that voice. The song was just so different from all those songs that I was surrounded by on TV, radio, etc. I later heard "Where Will You Go" and wasn't as blown away, but thought it was great all the same. I decided to search Evanescence up on RadioBlog and was shocked to discover Evanescence (whom, I thought was just Amy Lee at the time) was the one who played that song I had fallen in love with years before.
A few weeks later I learned they were set to release their second album "The Open Door", and after a few listens on RadioBlog I decided to go and buy it. I was a bit iffy on "The Open Door" at first, but then after several listens I fell in love with it and decided it trumped "Fallen". I later bought an actual physical copy of "Fallen" and "Anywhere But Home" not long after purchasing TOD. I later went and discovered their older stuff and, of course, fell in love with those too. I played Evanescence non-stop for months!
So, yeah, there's my little story about how I discovered and fell in love with Evanescence. Almost two years later I still love them all the same (although, I'm currently iffy about Amy Lee's character, but it's not like I know her anyway) and they've opened the window for me discovering and falling in love with several other aritsts/band also.
carino February 21st, 2008, 1:52 am Well, I guess I can't really pick a favorite song. They're all pretty fantastic. I like Bring Me to Life, Imaginary, My Last Breath, Tourniquet, Missing, Sweet Sacrifice, Snow White Queen, Good Enough...There's so many.
Why I like them...well, the lyrics are amazing, as is Amy Lee's voice. I think she has the best voice I have ever heard.
Bio_Android March 5th, 2008, 5:46 am I got into Evanescence because at the time it seemed like a nice change from other music, I liked Amy's voice. My favourite song would have to be either Imaginary or Going Under. I liked the video for Going Under because of what Amy wore (I like different fashions). However, I prefer Fallen over The Open Door and have gotten more into the band Nightwish.
GrangerHermione April 4th, 2008, 6:04 pm I'm not a fan, but I've heard of Evanescence. :) Are they the ones who do My Immortal? I love that song..it's so beautiful. I might look into buying an album if I check them out a little bit more. :)
mugglesrock April 4th, 2008, 8:59 pm Yes. My Immortal is a beautiful song, isn't it.
Voldemorts8thHorcrux April 4th, 2008, 9:22 pm their slow songs and gothic metal songs are all amazing
GrangerHermione April 25th, 2008, 3:17 am My piano teacher just gave me the sheet music for My Immortal recently. :) I've tried it out, and it sounds beautiful. Although it'll probably take me a while to get it all right. :D
LoonyMagic April 25th, 2008, 6:26 pm My piano teacher just gave me the sheet music for My Immortal recently. :) I've tried it out, and it sounds beautiful. Although it'll probably take me a while to get it all right. :D
Wow! I'd love to be able to play that - it's such a beautiful song!
samianther June 4th, 2008, 4:18 am I love all of there songs. I espesuly love the vidio for 'Call me when your sober' and 'My Immortal' has to be the one song that really strikes a cord in my heart. They are good tunes to belt out as well. You can put so much passion into them. =)
PureBloodGirl October 7th, 2008, 4:07 am I've only heard one of their songs and that's Going Under, but Amy Lee can sing! I love that song!
boushh October 7th, 2008, 6:17 am I love this band too. :) I've seen them live a few time also. They're really good live, once Amy Lee gets her voice warmed up a bit. :)
I think the second album is my favorite, but it's hard to choose. :)
Voldemorts8thHorcrux October 8th, 2008, 1:04 am My piano teacher just gave me the sheet music for My Immortal recently. :) I've tried it out, and it sounds beautiful. Although it'll probably take me a while to get it all right. :D
I really want to try that!!!!!Ok yes...I quit piano more than a year ago...but evanescence is awesome :p
PureBloodGirl October 8th, 2008, 3:31 am Everybody's Fool and My Immortal are awesome!
ilayDa October 11th, 2008, 11:41 am I like this group because they are explain my sensation.my favourite song is "my immortal" and "broken" .
samianther October 13th, 2008, 2:04 am My piano teacher just gave me the sheet music for My Immortal recently. :) I've tried it out, and it sounds beautiful. Although it'll probably take me a while to get it all right. :D
I would love to be able to play that. It would be so amazing!
PureBloodGirl October 13th, 2008, 3:58 am Wow! I just relized that I heard one of there songs a while ago without even knowing that it was Evanescence. I heard Bring Me To Life. I think that was the first song I ever heard from them. I was on youtube yesterday and was looking at all of their videos and I was like I know this song when Bring Me To Life was on.
My Immortal is so beautiful. The lyrics are fantastic and the piano in that song sounds so nice.
banksy800 October 13th, 2008, 11:58 am Saw them live and they were pretty good, not really a fan but shes definatly a good singer!
Voldemorts8thHorcrux October 13th, 2008, 5:21 pm I love Amy Lee's voice . Some other singers sound awful in real life, but even her acoustics are amazing!
PureBloodGirl November 2nd, 2008, 3:35 am I love Amy Lee's voice . Some other singers sound awful in real life, but even her acoustics are amazing!
I know! I mean I didn't see them live or anything, but I watching youtube videos of their concerts and she is amazing! I've fallen in love with their song Everybody's Fool. I don't know why, but I just love it so much.
Edit: Does anyone know if they are coming out with a new CD soon?
Patryk November 9th, 2008, 8:03 am Edit: Does anyone know if they are coming out with a new CD soon?
I don't think so... I nothing hear about this.
This band was good only when Ben Moody was a member.
I listen "Fallen" and "The Open Door" and "Fallen" is much much better !!!
And sorry fof my English
Voldemorts8thHorcrux November 9th, 2008, 4:41 pm I think they're all really good. The thing about acoustics is that if you can't find one on youtube, chances are the singer can't actually sing really really good.
PureBloodGirl November 11th, 2008, 9:48 pm Has anyone heard their song Missing? The lyrics are so sad, but at the same time so beautiful. The violens in that song are so beautiful.
eaglestreasure November 12th, 2008, 12:50 am Evanescence makes some great songs, but some of them are kinda dark...
What was the first song of theirs that YOU heard?
(Posts left: 4)
Voldemorts8thHorcrux November 12th, 2008, 12:55 am My first was Going Under and my first thought was "They rock!" Then I listened to a lot of other stuff and thought more, "Their music is beautiful." I personally like both their styles are great.
GrangerHermione November 12th, 2008, 1:58 am I really want to buy their album Fallen; there are so many beautiful songs on it! But I'm afraid I'll have to do some more babystting first. ;)
PureBloodGirl November 12th, 2008, 4:10 am The first song I ever heard from them was I think Going Under.
GrangerHermione March 6th, 2009, 11:29 pm I've got pretty much all of The Open Door and Fallen on my iPod now. I love themp; they're awesome. The slower songs are so beautiful! And the harder ones really rock! my favorites are "My Immortal," "Bring Me to Life," and "Sweet Sacrifice."
Aidyan March 10th, 2009, 7:32 pm Anywhere is my favorite song by them. Amy has a great voice, she doesn't just stand there and scream. The lyrics are thoughtful. I love the darkness of LIke You. To me, its the way a lot of people feel when they lose a loved one.
xFluerDelacourx March 10th, 2009, 8:52 pm I like a lot of songs by Evanescence. My all time favorite would be "Going Under."
Grymmditch March 10th, 2009, 10:01 pm I used to like them, big time. I liked the first main album, but the second album killed them, IMO.
Besides losing a founding member and guitar player (Ben) , they lost their original bassist too.
Amy has a good voice but she needs to shut up now and then, to breathe, and let the rest of the band have a moment up front.
It's too over-produced now, it's aaall about her, and it's getting too "Disney" for me.
Few people (except hard core fans) know of "Field of Innocence", from their Origins EP, but that's one of their best songs ever.
With so many comparisons to "Lacuna Coil", I had to try them out and fell in love with that band!
Though, for what it's worth, I don't think Lacuna Coil and Evanescence sound anything alike, really.

But unlike mainstream overproduced people, I still know people that have never heard of Evanescence ;). And really, I would WAY rather have evanescence be overproduced than Miley Cyrus.... Amy needs to stop chasing away her band members. If she wants it to be all about her, she should just become a solo artist or something. I notice that in all the other bands the guitar players and drummers and everyone at least get camera time in the music videos . I still wouldn't consider them Disney though. First of all, amy lee can sing, and second of all, well, the first one seals the deal . Ok, on a more seroius note, they're just way better and their music isn't just meaningless nonsense (well, i don't really listen to their lyrics, but i do like knowing it's there )
Few people (except hard core fans) know of "Field of Innocence", from their Origins EP, but that's one of their best songs ever.
I'm not a "hard core fan" but i have listened to field of innocence (i do forget if i downloaded it though :hmm:). I haven't listened to it much, but it is amazing.
With so many comparisons to "Lacuna Coil", I had to try them out and fell in love with that band!
Though, for what it's worth, I don't think Lacuna Coil and Evanescence sound anything alike, really.
I haven't listened to Lacuna Coil much and somehow, i've heard a lot of comparisons about lacuna Coil to Evanescence and very few about evanescence compared to Lacuna Coil . I definitely Lacuna Coil is very good, but I still think Evanescence is better.
Aidyan March 13th, 2009, 10:26 am I like Lacuna Coil, but Amy's voice is better than Christina's. I don't see a lot of comparison between the two. I don't know where people get that really.
Voldemorts8thHorcrux March 13th, 2009, 9:16 pm i don't really even think they're comparable, they're just completely different for me. I personally don't like Christina's voice too much, it kind of gets on my nerves, but she can definitely sing just as well as Amy , but the style is just so different. I think they get that from the style of music the play really
PureBloodGirl April 21st, 2009, 9:12 pm You can't compare Christina's voice with Amy Lee's. They are both really good singers, but they sound a lot different. At least to me. IMO, Amy Lee has the better voice of the two and Evanescence is the better band.
Voldemorts8thHorcrux April 21st, 2009, 11:04 pm nah, im starting to really like Lacuna Coil, and sure the two are somewhat similar, but they still have different styles
Green_Arrow April 23rd, 2009, 10:03 pm The lyrics are thoughtful.
:tu: I agree.
Have you heard "Fields of Innocence"?
:)
Voldemorts8thHorcrux June 13th, 2009, 1:01 am :tu: I agree.
Have you heard "Fields of Innocence"?
:)
yep, love that song :D
by the way, is it true that Amy Lee might be releasing a solo album?
PureBloodGirl June 13th, 2009, 1:13 am yep, love that song :D
by the way, is it true that Amy Lee might be releasing a solo album?
I thought she already did. On Lastfm, it lists her as a solo artist with songs that only she did.
I got their newest CD, The Open Door and it's pretty good. Not my favorite, though, because they have much better songs on their other CD's. My favorite songs on the CD are Like You and Snow White Queen.
Voldemorts8thHorcrux June 13th, 2009, 2:48 am could you post a link?
PureBloodGirl June 13th, 2009, 3:17 am http://www.last.fm/music/Amy+Lee There's your link. I really don't know if she does, though, now because I hadn't really looked at this page much before. Because at the top there, it says that there are multiple artists with that name.
Voldemorts8thHorcrux June 13th, 2009, 3:31 am i dont think its amy, first of all completely not her style and i couldn't find it on youtube anyways
Voldemorts8thHorcrux June 19th, 2009, 1:17 am normally i wouldn't double post but:
http://music-mix.ew.com/2009/06/carly-smithson-evanescence-fallen-yes-.html
LilyDreamsOn June 19th, 2009, 2:06 am I used to be obsessed with this band. I saw the video for Bring Me To Life on TV and fell in love with Amy Lee's voice so I went out to get the album. I'm not sure how many times I listened to that album, but it was constantly in my CD player (yes, back in the days of walkmen). I used to know everything about the band, down to the fact that Amy has an allergy to lobster. I can't believe I remember that. I still have their DVD, with the amusing behind the scenes footage and all.
It's a shame, because when I transferred my music from my old computer to my new laptop, I lost a lot of their songs from the album Origin, though now I suppose it may be easier to find the songs than they were when the band started out. I remember loving a song called Away From Me that transitioned into the song Eternal, which was a really cool electronica/piano instrumental. I think I'll go listen to that for "old times" sake.
I started losing a bit of interest in them in the long gap between albums. When Ben Moody left I knew it really wouldn't be as good anymore, because Evanescence was really a duo of him and Amy. When the newest album came out I listened the whole way through and hardly liked a song. It's sad, because Amy has a phenomenal voice.
Voldemorts8thHorcrux June 20th, 2009, 7:39 pm i think i actually prefer amy's style more than Moody's. His guitar playing is great and i'm sure that he'll do great with Fallen, but i do like the Open Door and i'm looking forward to her solo album if she does release it
blackrose13 June 27th, 2009, 10:49 pm I abosolutely LOVE their music. I think thats theres a little something for everyone. Bring to Life was my fav song. Its how i got into Evanescence. But now i blast thier Fallen cd all day. i personall think that Fallen is better than The Open Door but thats my own opion. Still love them!
Insomniatic August 13th, 2009, 10:10 am What's your favorite song? Call Me When You're Sober
Favorite video? Everybody's Fool
Ben Moody's departure: are you mourning or celebrating? Celebrating, the guy was a genious but I love The Open Door that much better because he's not there
Which is better, Fallen or The Open Door? The Open Door, BECAUSE it's more dramatic and slightly more positive and empowering, I also enjoy the more symphonic sound and the lyrics are more interesting, also I listen to Like You, which counts towards it, because I don't listen to Hello, it's just that much more my style then Fallen, which is more depressing, especially to me, I like Fallen, but not as much as The Open Door, by a lot!
What, specifically, do you like about them? Their relatable lyrics and they keep me sane.
Fave Songs? Sweet Sacrifice, Call Me When You're.., Lacrymosa, Snow White Queen, All That I'm Living For, Lose Control, Weight Of The World, Everybody's Fool, Taking Over Me, Missing, Bring Me To Life, Imaginary, Whisper.
Any other comments on the band?
I don't see how Amy can be seen as such as controlling snob and leader of the band, she seems so unlike that, she once faught for the other people in her band to get their credit and that to me speaks more about her personality and how she DOEN"T lead the band and that it is a group experience rather then her own little thing, Amy to me seems alot nicer then people portray her to be and I believe she is an honestly good person who is not mad with power, even though it appears she leads the group....
I do think she doesn't let the guitars have enough room and holds her notes abit longer then they have to be to prove a point though, Bring Me To Life and Sweet Sacrifice feature this annoying
though I do completely dislike the whole sacking of the people who did The Open Door, I love that album so much, why'd she have to kick that band out, WHY!
I love their cover of Thoughtless, that cover is AMAZING!
MC2456 June 10th, 2010, 5:08 pm Bring me to Life and My Immortal!
Lauzzy July 6th, 2010, 3:23 pm What's your favorite song?
There are far too many, but Breathe No More is well up there.
Favorite video?
Probably Lithium
Ben Moody's departure: are you mourning or celebrating?
I was into the band just after Moody left actually. But I think the music was better when he was in the band
Which is better, Fallen or The Open Door?
Fallen
What, specifically, do you like about them?
At the time, Amy Lee had the most beautiful voice i'd ever heard
What are some of your other favorite bands/musicians?
Slipknot, Rage Against the Machine, Muse etc.
Any other comments on the band?
I heard they may have new music out soon, according to the Evanescence/Amy Lee Twitter account
craiggles July 15th, 2010, 6:59 am I love Evanescence! They have a new album coming out soon, don't they? I can't wait :)
What's your favorite song? Understanding, Tourniquet and Imaginary.
Favorite video? My Immortal, it's gorgeous.
Ben Moody's departure: are you mourning or celebrating? Personally, I think The Open Door is a lot better than Fallen, so...
Which is better, Fallen or The Open Door? The Open Door, definitely.
What, specifically, do you like about them? I love their guitar and string arrangements, the strings especially add so much to the music, I think that's what sets them apart for me. And of course, Amy's voice is gorgeous.
What are some of your other favorite bands/musicians? Garbage, Hole, Bjork, Deftones, Placebo, Soundgarden...
Any other comments on the band? Can't wait for new stuff!
MuggleGirl09 August 7th, 2010, 1:30 pm What's your favorite song? My Immortal, Bring Me To Life, Lithium, Lacrymosa.
Favorite video? My Immortal.
Ben Moody's departure: are you mourning or celebrating? Lol, don't care too much.
Which is better, Fallen or The Open Door? I think The Open Door. :D

What are some of your other favorite bands/musicians? All That Remains, Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, Disturbed, Sonic Syndicate...
