Sugino3 October 26th, 2007, 7:36 pm Sooo... First off, my apologies if a thread like this has been created for the Pendragon novels, but I searched and nothing came up. Anyway, discuss the series and its twist and turns, your favorite character, and favorite book etc.
Favorite Character: Hmm.... Tough. I think I will say... Siry. We only saw him briefly, but he was a great guy.
Favorite Book: Since Siry was introduced in it, and because of all the action, I'm gonna say Pilgrims of Rayne.
I can't wait for Book Nine! I really want to find out what happens to Bobby next!
(No COMPLETE spoiling here.)
And sorry for the title mishap. I'll fix that once I feel like it.
In other words, not anytime soon.
Or this decade.
Voldemorts8thHorcrux November 17th, 2007, 6:48 pm I love them, but i havent been able to get Quillian games or any after that. They're realy good, but i havent been able to read them in a while
HGHPRW December 2nd, 2007, 10:24 pm When does the next one come out? Does anyone know what the title will be? I read all of them, so far. I have to say that I liked the one on First Earth best. How are they going to get back? How is it going to take place on another territory if he blocked the flume?

Well, Nevva was on First Earth during the last book, and then she suddenly appeared on Veelox. That led me to believe that the walls between terretories have officially been broken down, and you can now travel without using the flumes. Bobby will probably discover that sometime during the next book. Unfortunately, I don't know when that's coming out.
Does anyone know if Nevva was disguised as Telleo the whole time on Veelox/Ibara, or just at the end? I'd put my vote for just at the end, because she was supposed to be on First Earth then with Mark. I know, time isn't relative between territories, but unless she teleported to the flume from the boat and immediately went to Veelox, then the walls are broken. :hmm:
EDIT: I just realized this, and it poses an interesting question. The book was very unclear about whether Ibara was one of the ten territories UNcle Press mentioned. Why did the flume activate when Bobby said Ibara if it wasn't a territory? I wish there could have been a very clear explanation. BUT, if Ibara isn't a territory, then we only know of nine: 1-3. Earths, 4. Denduron, 5. Cloral, 6. Veelox/Ibara, 7. Eelong, 8. Zadaa, 9. Quillan. I believe this unknown tenth territory holds the key to Halla. I'm hoping that this one is Saint Dane's home territory, and it will answer all the big questions.
Next book is called Raven Rise. Looks interesting. I always get my information for these books from D.J. Machale's official site (http://www.thependragonadventure.com). The new cover looks really good.
Purpledog100 February 9th, 2008, 6:48 pm I love the Pendragon books. I picked the first one up and thought it sounded dumb, but decided to read it anyway. I'm glad I did. Now I've read all of them and can't wait until book 9 comes out. Though since there's a big gap between the release of the books, I'll have to re-read book 8 to remember what is going on.
Fave Character: Spader
Fave book: Black Water, with Quillan Games coming in second.

I felt the same way. I really like the books, but it's been so long since I've read them, and I have no time to reread anything else. Even so, I read new ones when they come out, so I have a vague idea of what's going on. My favorite has to be "The Lost City of Faar" because Cloral was my favorite planet. Ironic that I don't own the book, though.
DeathlyH February 9th, 2008, 8:27 pm Woohoo, this thread is alive!
What do you all think about the new book to be released May 20th, Raven Rise? I really don't know what to expect in this one, because of the ending events in The Pilgrims of Rayne. I can't wait to find out how Saint Dane will get back in the war after the flume on Ibara was destroyed. I think the title may refer to Saint Dane rising. because he is always a raven after all.
BTW, D.J. Machale addressed the ten territories thing. Ibara counts as one, so we now know about all of them. The next and final two books will take place on Third and Second Earth, though I don't know which order. If I had to take a bet, I'd say Third Earth first, because we always knew it would come back to Bobby's home in the end.
HGHPRW March 16th, 2008, 8:09 pm So where is Saint Dane from, it doesn't really seem that he's from any of our 10 known territories? Raven Rise looks interesting, I hadn't seen that, thanks.

That's something being debated among readers nowadays. Some say that he is really the old Traveler from Second Earth, and Press wasonly safe going to other territories because he was always with Bobby. I don't buy that, personally. The other theory, the one I like, is that he is not from a territory at all, and he is simply the Traveler of Halla. Now, how one goes about being a Traveler of Halla I have no idea, but it sounds logical doesn't it?
Personally, this one is very good too: Saint Dane is not a Traveler at all. He is trying to bring chaos to Halla by traveling through the flumes and causing damage to them.
HGHPRW March 16th, 2008, 11:26 pm But how would he have gotten the powers and stuff? Maybe he's an older traveller, before the current one or something. Or maybe he's a demon of some type...we won't know for a while, will we? Maybe he's the traveller for Halla, or something? Or, he could be an old traveller who got kicked out of the bunch for what he's been doing, ect...
GrangerHermione April 9th, 2008, 7:26 pm :hmm: I think I've heard of this series before, but I can't put my finger on it...can anyone tell me what it's about? I might want to read it if it sounds good.
DeathlyH April 22nd, 2008, 7:18 pm :hmm: I think I've heard of this series before, but I can't put my finger on it...can anyone tell me what it's about? I might want to read it if it sounds good.
It's about a fourteen year old kid named Bobby who is whisked off by his Uncle to a flume (wormhole, basically). There are different territories, which are like planets, which can only be accessed through the flumes by Travelers. There is one Traveler for each territory. At this point, we still don't know why the flumes work, who built them, or how the Travelers get chosen. There is one Traveler (and we don't know which territory he's from) named Saint Dane, who's goal is to bring chaos to the territories and bring them down. Bobby and the other Travelers have to stop him. Saint dane always talks about "the Convergance," the nature of which remains unknown but is coming closer. Check out the official site (thependragonadventure.com). Hope that helps! :)
Anyone else read the Raven Rise excerpt yet? Sounds really weird. Before, the only POVs we've heard from are Bobby's, Saint Dane's, and Courtney/Mark's. I wonder what happened on Denduron that possibly set the Bedoowan back at war with the Milago again. Well, less than a month to go!
Almost a month later: meh, I wish someone else would post here. I feel like an idiot talking to myself about Raven Rise. Anyways I'm about 100 pages into it and it's very good. A bit of a slow start (Denduron, so predictable) but it's heating up quickly. :D
DeathlyH May 23rd, 2008, 9:56 pm Yay, Loque is alive! I really loved him throughout the beginning of Pilgrims of Rayne, and now he's back. The fact that Telleo didn't want Bobby to talk to him at all, and the mysterious medicine overdose he was given, is a bug of a clue as any that she is really Nevva. so it's official, the walls are broken down because Nevva was on First Earth and Ibara. Of course Bobby won't stay on Ibara, so there must be another way besides the flume. It's annoying the heck out of me, though, wondering who the Travelers really are.
What is with the star on Second Earth, and this whole Raviana thing? It's mystery. I have a feeling that whatever happens at Madison Square Garden is what's being depicted on the cover. :) Maybe everyone is like Saint Dan'e minion now . Well, I have to keep reading! :D
silverstarz July 7th, 2008, 9:36 pm MY FAVORITE SERIES EVER!
Yes, I love Pendragon even more than Harry Potter.
I cried at the ending of Raven Rise, just because, you know the end of the book. . [i don't wanna spoil anyone & i don't know how to do the spoiler tags, i forgot lol] but yeaah. I cannot not wait for the last book to come out, but I'm gonna be sad that it's over with :(
I want Bobby & Loor to get together in the end soooo bad!
Oh, & Raven Rise was sooo slow in the beginning! It was really boring!! & I just wasn't into it, but then it got good! I hope the tenth one is like soo action packed & stuff! I wonder how long it's gonna be & what it's gonna be called & what the book art is gonna look like!?!?!
thegreatlake August 8th, 2008, 12:29 am Ohh i love the Pendragon series!! One of my favorites! The books are soo amazing. They keep me hooked almost more than Harry Potter does (the first time, atleast :P). Everytime I get a new one, I LITERALLY cannot put it down... I read Rivers of Zadaa and the Quillan Games within three days (which is crazy, because they're sooo long!) I don't think I did anything else that weekend :D. I only own the first two and Raven Rise, so I haven't been able to reread the series, but I'm really hoping I'll be able to before the last one comes out (:( last one... so sad). They are just so complicated, and with so many characters that I have trouble remembering exactly what happens.
So, does anyone else
think that Mark and Courtney aren't dead? It never really says in Raven Rise that they are necessarily DEAD... I'd be really sad if that were true, I love Mark. And is anyone else unsure of what side Nevva is on? I mean, near the end of Raven Rise, when Bobby, Saint Dane, and she are in the helicopter with Naymeer, and Bobby is about to throw him out (basically kill him), she says something like "it doesn't have to be this way" to Bobby. However, it seems like this is what Saint Dane wants, so shouldn't she want it too? I'm kind of confused by that...
I absolutely LOVED the ending of Raven Rise... I cried pretty much through the whole Traveler reunion! It was so beautiful :). I can't wait for the last one (though I really wish it wasn't the last :(... does anyone know anything about? Name, release date... anything like that?
I really want to reread the whole series, but the books are just so LONG (I don't really have a problem with that... it's a good thing :P but they take forever to read) that I don't think I will have time before the last one comes out... it's probably going to come out sometime during the school year. I really want the whole set, so I don't have to go to the library every few weeks to get the next one in the series that I'm going to read... huh
Edit: strange that this series isn't as popluar as HP, I think it's just as good... but that might be a good thing, because there isn't as big a danger of being spoiled before the next book comes out since the fanbase is much smaller... :)
RemusLupinFan August 8th, 2008, 3:55 am This sounds like an interesting series, I will have to put it on my list to read in the future. The whole time travel concept sounds really cool.
YellowPoofBall August 26th, 2008, 8:35 pm I checked the first book out from the library and barely made it to the end. Actually, I kind of skimmed over most of the book because I just couldn't get into it. I didn't like the style of writing and it seemed like nothing was happening very often, and when something did happen, it took way too long to explain what it was that was happening. I don't know if I should bother checking out the second book since I couldn't get into the first one at all.
thegreatlake September 6th, 2008, 9:41 pm This board kinda died... why?? Why isn't Pendragon as popular as Harry Potter? Or atleast more popular than this... I think it's such a great series!!
ElishevaSavela April 29th, 2009, 12:46 am I like the series too. It was intriguing and page turning.... been awhile since I've read it..... I really should reread it......
Voldemorts8thHorcrux April 29th, 2009, 2:32 am i liked the series but i haven't followed it in ages, and apparently its been 2 years....i should check them out again sometimes, but i barely remmber the main characters names
DeathlyH June 6th, 2009, 3:44 pm *pokes*
What did you think of Soldiers of Halla? I finished the other day, and loved it. It's only been out for a month or so, though, so I won't say too much.
The only part I didn't like was Saint Dane's death scene- I was expecting a better battle between him and the Travelers, instead of just disappearing. Oh well. Having the Ravinians turn against him was actually pretty cool, and very unpredictable. The whole concept of Solara was a little confusing at first but I'm pretty certain I get it now.
I loved the epilogue, too. It was nice that after going through all that, Bobby got to live the life he would have had if Uncle Press hadn't shown up. And even better, he couldn't remember any of his experiences as a Traveler, because that would surely just weigh down on him, and I'm guessing he wouldn't want to think about it. Something I think is a plothole, though- some of Bobby's adventures were never recorded, like the entire end of the battle for Eelong. We saw that whole thing from the third person. So he and Courtney wouldn't read about that part in the hospital room. Oh well.
featherfish81 December 6th, 2009, 4:42 am I didn't start this series until after DH, so I've been avoiding any discussion boards so that I would avoid spoilers. But now I've finished it, so I want to discuss it, and hopefully others are still reading this board.
Overall I liked this series. The characters were interesting, and the plot was pretty good. Sometimes it did get a little plodding, though. Even though it was longer, I don't think it was as intricate as HP. The series built on itself, of course, but there weren't all of the little clues that turned out to be important later on like there was in HP.
I didn't agree with the underlying message of the Pendragon series as much as I agreed with HP. In HP the main theme was that love is the strongest thing, and it ends up saving the characters in the end. In Pendragon, the theme seems to be that there is no right or wrong, things just are. And I disagree, I think that ultimately there is a right and wrong, though you might not always know what it is.
And I wondered about the epilogue, too. How will they know what happened to Mark and Courtney, since they didn't keep journals? And some of the stuff in the journals assumes knowledge of what happened on Second Earth, so won't they get confused? Once the Travelers die in their full lives, will that timeline end, or will both timelines continue?
