Spirited Away
Princes Mononoke
Howl's Moving Castle

I think so too. I think though, that Kiki's Delivery Service started me off on Miyazaki's movies.
goldenlight December 27th, 2007, 11:42 pm Kiki ! Kiki ! Kik's Delivery Service was my first and still favorite anime movie, and Spirited Away is very good too
canismajoris January 15th, 2008, 8:33 pm I'd like to mention the Ghost in the Shell movies, of which there are now three. The original is a classic, of course, but the recent sequel Ghost in the Shell: Innocence has some of the most stunning animation I've seen, period. Of course it all depends on individual taste, but for those of you interested in a techno-thriller about the ever-shrinking line between man and machine, I recommend them. The latest movie is not a sequel to the original movie, but a feature-length treatment of the Stand Alone Complex series, following some time (two years) after the conclusion of the 2nd Gig SAC series. It has a different flavor, involving some characters we never get to know well from the movies, but are quite familiar with and fond of following the conclusion of the Stand Alone Complex storylines, which develop each of the primary members of the Section 9 team, or at least explore them.
I highly recommend these films to anyone who likes great animation, but who also is not afraid of some philosophy, politics, and technobabble mixed in with their action sequences.
KelticKurse February 29th, 2008, 10:45 pm Not seen the other two but I would have to agree on the first Ghost in the Shell movie, I was made to watch it in a media studies class and thats what first got me hooked on anime.
Other than that I can only repeat other's recommendations;
Spirited Away, Howls Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa of the valley of the wind, and Laputa - castle in the sky.
Another one i've recently bought was Tales from Earthsea by Goro Miyazaki, who seems to be following in his fathers outstanding footsteps with an original story based on Ursula Le Guin's stories. Also a very good film. :tu:
orangedementor March 3rd, 2008, 7:11 pm i actually like all the digimon movies but the best is Earthsea i bought it at HMV straight away, spirited away is good but so... so ancient :lol:
PureBloodGirl March 28th, 2008, 9:18 pm The only anime movie that I really liked was spirited away. I got my friend hooked on it when we watched it at my sleepover. Now it's both our favorite anime movie ever.
Drusilla May 19th, 2008, 5:07 pm Pretty much anything by Studio Ghibli/Miyazaki, really (in that, I agree with most of the posters here!). Starting with Kiki's Delivery Service which I saw when I was about six, to Howl's Moving Castle, I've loved them all.
I don't know if OVAs count as movies, but I thought Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations was beautifully done, among things in that category.
Raven_Girly May 21st, 2008, 2:38 pm I don't watch a lot of anime but I did really like Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. I have them both on DVD.
WitchHunter September 14th, 2008, 8:45 am The Clannad movie was good, and the Slayers movies weren't bad either (although the new voice actors for the dubs were a bit annoying) And like a few people have already said, anything from Miyazaki, and of course the FMA movie.
EDIT: Not sure how I forgot these, but Akira and the Cowboy Bebop movie Knockin' on Heaven's Door were among the best.
mexicant September 14th, 2008, 10:40 pm Oh, movie recs! :D I can pimp Perfect Blue here!
Being a bit more serious, it really is a good movie. It's a psychological thriller-type, and I found the way it was done kept me guessing. It follows a girl who was a member of a pop singing group who decides to leave it for acting, and the ramifications her choice brings her.
Also, not quite sure if it fits here, but I would recommend watching Final Fantasy VII's Advent Children. Technically it is a continuation of the story from the PS game, but even if you've never played the game I would say to give it a chance. There is even a recap of the game on the DVD if you're curious or need a refresher for those who have played the game.
Princess Mononoke was a good movie. I had no idea what to expect the first tie my husband sat me down to watch it, but I was instantly in love with it. Spirited Away is good, too, but I thought Princess Mononoke was infinitely better.
Drusilla September 17th, 2008, 5:20 pm If anyone here likes Studio Ghibli/Miyazaki films, I strongly recommend Only Yesterday- one of their lesser-known films, but it's an absolute gem about growing up (I won't say more because I don't want to spoil).
TrueRavenclaw April 12th, 2011, 3:58 am I watched spirited away before I even knew what the term anime was and I love it XD
I highly recommend watching the movie Arashi No Yoru Ni. It is absolutely beautiful and might make you cry ;A;
Kireana October 12th, 2011, 1:13 am I'm not a big fan of anime, but I liked Mushishi series very much. And of course I like Miyazaki movies, too, they are very special.
cynusalisa October 31st, 2011, 6:10 am Mine favorite anime movies are-
Kung Fu Panda 2
The Lion King
Barbie
Snow white
Tangled

I'm sure I'm missing some, but these are the ones that stick out most in my mind. I could watch these all the time if I had the chance. :)
Mars_Li December 4th, 2011, 10:10 am The one I've seen recently that I really liked was The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. I saw Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva and Colourful as well. Those were pretty good too. ~
