Coming 'soon' might be a bit optimistic. The movie to the also 'Tripods' called BBC TV series (based on the books by Samuel Youd) is planned for 2009 (http://imdb.com/title/tt0441811/). So not too many information known right now, but since I loved (and feared) the series as kid and still today very much I'd like to start a thread on it already anyway.
Post any information, hopes, speculation about the Tripods Movie here. :)

This is great news! I loved the books and the BBC series. A movie version could be spectacular...with the proper budget and special effects.
I see on IMDb that Gregor Jordan is set to direct. The only movie of his that I have seen is 'Ned Kelly'. I wonder who they'll get to play Will, Beanpole and Henry?

Woohoo! Fans of the Tripods! I re-read the series probably every couple years and love it to this day. I had heard about this film project for a while and I hope it will happen as it is 2009 and I have heard nothing about it...
I bought some of the BBC series off of EBay on VHS when I was in high school and wasn't a fan...books were much better.
Man I hope this happens!
EDIT: Upon doing an internet search, looks like we might see this in 2012 with Touchstone making it.
