This is the place where you can talk about your latest spurges when it comes to sunglasses!
SunglassesKimmetje January 4th, 2008, 6:26 pm This is the place where you can talk about your latest spurges when it comes to sunglasses! pints January 4th, 2008, 11:34 pm I never splurge on sunglasses (nothing more than $30). I make sure the ones I get have the proper sun protection. I go through at least 2 pairs every summer, I either sit on them, drop them, or forget them somewhere. Half the time I forget my regular glasses and I need those for seeing. Desraelda January 5th, 2008, 1:32 am I don't spend a lot of money on sunglasses either. Since I live in South Florida, I just have to have the best UV protection and that usually comes in at $20 or less. One of my daughters thinks nothing of spending $100+ on sunglasses. Since she has a tendency to lose them, this seems wasteful to me. Since I don't lose my sunglasses, I could probably spend a lot more. Or maybe if I spent more, my bad luck would kick in and I'd lose them anyway. mac_attack January 5th, 2008, 3:16 am I like sunglasses, but I never buy them. If I did, it wouldn't be more that $25...I just can't justify spending that much on glasses, that's almost as much as it takes to fill up my car! I do like the big sunglasses though, but everytime I find some, my little sister makes me put them back because she says they make me look like a bug. :grumble: hard_boiled January 5th, 2008, 7:03 am I've never worn sunglasses. Sometimes I go mad and spend loads on a pair, but I always feel like I look stupid in them :S And because I'm so fair and afraid of the sun, I stay in the shade mostly anyway so I don't really need them haha. Kimmetje January 5th, 2008, 1:32 pm I got new prescription sunglasses which I love! I wanted the Chanel ones, but I already have Chanel eyeglasses so I got Emporio Armani sunglasses. :) http://www.tiendadegafas.es/images/catalogo/226188_______L2.jpg (I did choose darker glasses) YellowPoofBall January 7th, 2008, 7:47 pm Most expensive sunglasses have warranties, so if you break them, they'll send you another pair free, or at a very discounted price. It's the way to go once you find a pair that fit you very well. I mean, why spend $30 on a cheap pair that will probably break, forcing you to spend another $30 a month later for a pair that didn't look as wonderful as the first pair did? If I add up all the $30s I spent on cheap sunglasses, it'd exceed the price of the Versace shades that I still have. The only problem is when you start really loving expensive sunglasses and must have more than one  Wab January 8th, 2008, 1:37 am I've a pair of tortoise shell Ray-Ban Wayfarers (very '80s) which I've had forever (although I can't find them at the moment). No desire to change because they're prescription and I usually only wear them when driving. AchelRay January 9th, 2008, 12:18 am I've only got a cheap $7 pair that I got at a little shop in the mall when I needed a pair this summer. Gratefully (or maybe not, because then I'd have an excuse to splurge) I don't have to wear regular glasses so sunglasses aren't a problem. AmeliaPotter January 9th, 2008, 1:55 am Ooh, I love sunglasses; the ones that are flat at the top seem to be all the rage lately, but I'm not really a fan. I don't go for a particular brand, but my friends call the ones I wear 'bug glasses' lol. They're brown, and there was a special so you could get two different pairs for $20, so I also got a pair that looks like this (http://www.blavish.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/02/Kenneth%20Cole%20Sunglasses%202006.jpg). I also have another pair that's big like the first, only they're red and cost around $30. I only really wear the brown ones, but it's good to have a couple of spares, and the ones I buy are cheap anyway. kuroi_shi January 11th, 2008, 4:31 am I don't think I've ever worn a pair of sunglasses ^^;; staringatthesun January 23rd, 2008, 9:45 am I have a pair of black rayban wayfarers. Liselle January 23rd, 2008, 10:22 am I bought a very nice pair of Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses before going on holidays in December. I figured that I might as well get a decent pair and these ones actually suit me ~ I have trouble finding glasses that I like and that suit me. It's a minefield! Hysteria January 23rd, 2008, 11:15 am My sister went to MElbourne and came back with 4 pairs of sunglasses... cant work that out. I cant find a single pair I like (ie. not covering my entire face, and no sparkly things). staringatthesun January 23rd, 2008, 11:19 am Sunglasses are one of those painful items to buy. Tonks January 23rd, 2008, 11:18 pm I don't have too much of a problem with finding them, it is keeping them :( I seem to always damage my sunglasses until they are scratched beyond repair then I can no longer wear them. It is sad because I have found some really cute pairs but I can no longer see out of many :( 8m57w6 January 24th, 2008, 1:50 am My mom is the worst with sunglasses. She has 4 or 5 pairs, and all of them are broken or damaged in some way. One has a big scratch on the lens, another is missing the left arm completely, several have little stones that have fallen out, they've al been sat on multiple times, and she can never find them when she really needs them. But they were all fairly cheap. I really like sunglasses, and I'm sure I'd have many pairs, however I have normal glasses, with the transitions in them, so I don't ever buy any. Tonks January 30th, 2008, 3:31 am How do you like those Transitions? My dad has them and they always seem grey to me. 8m57w6 January 30th, 2008, 3:43 am They're pretty convinent, since it's hard to wear normal sunglasses. They don't get quite as dark, but they still work pretty well, and sometimes they take long to chage back (not like the commercials where it's instant), but overall I like them a lot. gipro2003 January 30th, 2008, 4:28 am I love sunglasses as well, but also wear normal glasses. In the past I've always had a pair of extra dark sunglasses to go along with my normal glasses, but now I just have a pair of dark lenses that magnetically clip on to my regular glassses. Its actually really nice. Hysteria January 30th, 2008, 6:34 am How do you like those Transitions? My dad has them and they always seem grey to me. My friend has those and he looks very very creepy with them on. He got them when he was 17 and never wears them. He says they dont transition very well at all and he has trouble seeing with them on *shrug* gipro2003 January 30th, 2008, 8:09 pm I've always wondered about getting Transitions, but the eye doc. always says they wont get dark enough. Hmm... Emma January 30th, 2008, 11:53 pm I need the polarized lenses other wise my eyes hurt from the sun. 'm thinking of ordering glassed from Brighton...does anyone have experience with this brand? http://www.brightonretail.com/store/images/products_full/qia11252.jpg pints January 31st, 2008, 7:14 am How do you like those Transitions? My dad has them and they always seem grey to me. I got transitions for driving. It's nice because I don't have to worry about carrying my glasses and a pair of prescription sunglasses as well. They go dark pretty fast but it does take forever for them to go clear again, so I look like a dork wearing sunglasses in a dark building for about 10 minutes. griffiegrrl February 2nd, 2008, 1:27 am You're all going to laugh at me for this, but the only sunglasses I've worn are a $2 pair I bought at a craft store. These were VERY good looking however, my friends and family all thought I spent around $30 dollars for them. They were my fav, and I lost them. I haven't found a pair I've liked since. HPmegafreak February 18th, 2008, 2:52 pm I bought a reeeeally nice pair of sunglasses for like £4.50 at a vintage shop the other week, but I broke them within like 2 days. I'm sad to say that I just superglued them together again! I'm going to Barcelona tomorrow and I NEED those sunglasses! I can hardly ever find any to suit me normally. Emma February 18th, 2008, 3:00 pm I was once told a tip on buying sunglasses.....When trying them on, if you can see your eyes through the lenses...then put them back and find a different pair. This was some years ago, but I still go by this and I've no problems. sllagnire February 18th, 2008, 11:20 pm I'm not a big fan of sunglasses. Plus, I have glasses. They are actually transition lenses, but they get on my nerves some times. They take too long to change back to regular glasses. Wab February 19th, 2008, 5:29 am The thing to be careful of with cheap sunglasses is that many just tint the light without blocking any UV and doing more harm than good as your pupils are dilated allowing your retinas to be bombarded by the rays. Mad_Druid February 19th, 2008, 7:47 am Can anybody reccommend some good brands? I don't care if they're fashionable or not, I just need good protection :) PureBloodGirl April 4th, 2008, 1:21 am Can anybody reccommend some good brands? I don't care if they're fashionable or not, I just need good protection :) Relic is pretty good. I've owned a couple pairs of those and there nice. You can get them at Fossil or Khols. I acutally think you can get them at more stores than that, but that's all I can think of. potterposse June 15th, 2008, 2:52 am I wear Transitions, and I tell you they work great! :D I went back to regular glasses temporarily and my eyes when going outside HURT. If I keep glasses, I keep transitions. :p  mac_attack June 19th, 2008, 4:09 am My biggest problem with sunglasses is that I hate how dark everything is with them on. I prefer to see my world in bright colors...the glasses tone everything down til it's a greyish shade. And it makes it hard for me to really see. :hmm: Does anyone else have that problem? LoveWeasleys June 19th, 2008, 7:52 pm OMG!!! My favorite pair of sunglasses broke recently *the agony*. Seriously these were the best pair and unfortunately I won't be able to get to the store for alllloooonnggg time to replace them. By then the style will be out. They were big black ones, many around here have seen the picture of me holding my daughter and wearing them. Are those still in style? Are their any new styles out there that I am unaware of? sunshinehannah July 18th, 2008, 7:45 pm I really want some heartshaped sunnies! I've seen them around a lot lately and I think they look really cool and different :D xx Rebel December 19th, 2008, 1:35 am I want some Robert Pattinson sunglasses, or some 80s plastic sunglasses. Vita December 29th, 2008, 5:58 pm I own a pair similar to this http://www.nichenation.com/collection/funk-sunglasses.jpg Though I dont wear them often. Sunglasses, unless there is a horrible glare when driving seem a bit frivolous to me. My mom is still rocking her pair for orange lensed military sunglasses from the 80's. Growing up I thought they were dreadfully out of style but now that I think of it, they are the hight of fashion once again. Funny how fashion comes around after 20 years or so. KeepItDark January 13th, 2009, 10:45 pm i usually purchase either very early in the season or at the end of the season, when it is cheap. i usually spend $10-$20 US dollars on about 4- 8 pairs, so i wont loose them. they generally are in my car or my bookcase or computer desk, where i loose them.... PotionA January 31st, 2009, 10:02 pm I own way too many sunglasses. My favorites are a pair of huge, purple bug-like shades from Versace, another large pair, brown in color, from Chanel, and a light blue transparent pair (and very large) from Gucci. I'm very careless with my shades - they have scratches or dents or small cracks all over - and I tend to lose the cases all the time. I love sunglass shopping. I'm getting a new one with pink rims and brown glass. Very retro :D And one of my favorite pairs of shades is one that my mom owns from the 70s. It's a real classic - large, light brown, transparent-ish. She's preserved it for so long and she doesn't let anyone wear it. LillyPotter13 February 2nd, 2009, 5:20 am i luv sunglasses! i always wear them whenever i go out somewhere! PureBloodGirl February 3rd, 2009, 10:30 pm I want some Robert Pattinson sunglasses, or some 80s plastic sunglasses. :rotfl: I love Baby Phat sunglasses. I want these (http://www.babyphat.com/nshop/product.php?view=detail&dept=accessories&productid[]=BP-2047&startColor[]=Black&category=accessories) really badly. I don't really like Chanel sunglasses, but these (http://www.chanel.com/fashion/8#8-sunglasses-inspired-by-jewelery-acetate-frames-hand-embroidered-with-maison-lesage-pearls-and-stones--5,4,8,8) are so cute! Luna_Luvr55 May 27th, 2009, 4:00 pm :rotfl: I love Baby Phat sunglasses. I want these (http://www.babyphat.com/nshop/product.php?view=detail&dept=accessories&productid[]=BP-2047&startColor[]=Black&category=accessories) really badly. I don't really like Chanel sunglasses, but these (http://www.chanel.com/fashion/8#8-sunglasses-inspired-by-jewelery-acetate-frames-hand-embroidered-with-maison-lesage-pearls-and-stones--5,4,8,8) are so cute! You're right, the Baby Phat sunglasses are so cute! The Chanel sunglasses aren't my favorite, though. I've only ever had one pair of sunglasses. :D A while ago, I got a cute pair of "bug-eyed" (that's what my older cousin calls them) sunglasses from (yes, everyone's favorite store) Walmart. They were $10. I persuaded my dad to get them for me, on the promise that I would actually wear them. And I do get a lot of use out of them. I even wear them in our pool (during which I forbid my friends from splashing at all ) amanduhrae July 23rd, 2009, 8:14 am I recently acquired contacts. When I had to wear glasses, I could never wear sunglasses, but now I'm going crazy over the sunglasses. My mom gave me two pairs, but I had in mind something else. It was pink and orange lenses with silver hooks for the ears, and there was no frame around the lenses. I drew it and I showed them to my sister. "Weird," she said, and then she ditched me to go into her room. Then she came back wearing sunglasses that were almost exactly like the ones I drew. "Are these like the ones you had in mind?" she asked, and I was like, "Yeah." She then gave me the sunglasses and now I wear them all the time! ally_xx July 23rd, 2009, 8:24 am I just wear my good old aviators. LysandersGirl November 14th, 2009, 11:19 pm Raybans = love of my life. Tonks_Animagus November 15th, 2009, 4:37 pm The picture speaks for me: http://idn.efashionsolutions.com/asset/image/format/BP-ex/id/BP-2047_Black_front StarbucksGirl January 4th, 2010, 8:18 pm I bought big Dior sunglasses a few years ago, and I love them. The lenses are dark, almost black, and the frames are purple. MuggleGirl09 August 23rd, 2010, 7:45 pm I am not into any fancy or brand name sunglasses. I usually buy the cheap 5 dollar ones at places like Forever 21. I also like those big sunglasses. :D improvkari March 29th, 2011, 10:44 pm Raybans = love of my life. Yup. I just inherited my uncle's vintage brown wayfarers. dobbydear15 March 29th, 2011, 10:55 pm I currently sport a pair of Oakleys (my most prized pair!:D) and a pair of Arquette's. My aspiration for sunglasses this summer tho, is to get a pair of Aviators....:D phoenix45 October 2nd, 2011, 7:11 pm I absolutely love sunglasses and always want to buy some more but I usually stick with 2 or 3 pairs--my "old faithfuls". I have a round face so I have a pair that are basic, square, plastic black that were about $20 at Rue 21 or somewhere like that. I've had them about 5 years and they are all scratched up but I can't seem to part with them. They fit well and sit perfectly on my head. My other love is a pair of Steve Madden aviators. This type I am very particular about. They have to be just the right size, the right metal color, not too light. I don't buy them if I can see my eyes through them. I really want a pair of Rayban Wayfarers, but not sure if I can sacrifice $150+ for them. They'd have to be really awesome. Does anyone have any advice on whether you like yours or not and are they worth it? Wab October 3rd, 2011, 12:28 am Because I have to wear prescription lenses when driving I stick to good quality frames and change the lenses. I've had one pair of Wayfarers for about 20 years and picked up a pair of New Wayfarers earlier this year which are a bit smaller and much lighter. ashleysnape August 24th, 2012, 4:24 am i find for me the best sunglasses are those that are stylish yet provide protection from the sun with their UV lenses. i like oval rather than round shapes and the best sunglass i bought so far is from zalora (http://www.zalora.sg/) 1BellaLestrange August 24th, 2012, 10:08 pm I love sunglasses. I have two different sunglasses. One I keep in my house that I take if I am going somewhere with friends, and the other I keep in my car. I have one from Costco and they are the brand Kenneth Cole (aviator style). They do have better protection than my pair from Forever21. My Dad bought me the forever21 sea foam green sunglasses for a little birthday gift a year ago. I wear those more often though (long story). CheddarTrek August 28th, 2012, 2:34 am Recently nabbed a pair of prescription sunglasses (my first!) because there was a 2 for 1 deal on at the place where I get my eyeglasses. I went for plastic turtleshell frames that wrap around the head just a tad -- very happy with the purchase! |
