Well, the title really speaks for itself....

What is your favorite channel and why? (say the channel name and number) and if there isn't already a thread for it, your favorite show on it.

Hmm -- I like PBS the most, ch. 28, where I'm at. I usually like to watch Antiques Roadshow on it along with some other shows :).

Nick is awesome, i love drake and josh and icarly and ned's declassified and zoey 101 and especially avatar. But there are almost never new ned's declassified shows, and zoey 101 isn't playing anymore, i think, since she moved and jamie lynn cant do it anymore

I used to like A&E until they canceled Dog the Bounty Hunter because they're afraid of Al Sharpton.

I like Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, History Channel, Comedy Central, Big Ten Network, NFL Network, Fox News Channel, Fox, and BBC to name a few. Occasionally when I want a trip down memory lane I'll tune into Nicktoons Network (where they still show the good Nicktoons) or Nickelodeon Games and Sports, especially when Legends of the Hidden Temple is on. That was my favorite show when I was a kid. Won't go into the channel numbers as they're different everywhere. (and I don't even know them as they are preprogrammed on my system)

I've got a couple of favorites:
- PBS: I love to watch "NOVA"; and they've got some neat things in HD
- Ch7: it's got "Law and Order" and "Heroes"
- The science channel (802 I think): they've got great science segments

ESPN. That's all I can say. About 90% of the TV I watch is on ESPN. Sportscenter is the best. Besides that, I watch Fox a lot because 24 and American Idol are on there, about the only non-sports that I watch. I watch CBS for the Pats games, and my local cable (NESN) for Red Sox games. Basically, I usually only watch sports TV.

Hmm...seriously, I don't watch much TV...I watch American Idol in the winter/spring and So You Think You Can Dance in the summer...so I guess Fox. But only their reality TV...people like Bill O'Reilly are rather irritating.

I really like Discovery (55), because it has really great shows now. I watch Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters, dog shows (maybe that's Animal Planet, but it's the same company), Cash Cab, and How It's Made a lot.

My favorites are Discovery Channel (not sure on the channel number) and Nick (channel 31). Discovery Channel has a lot of cool and interesting shows and Nick plays re-runs at night of my favorite older shows and plus, Spongebob and Avatar.

I watch kind of a lot of TV. My fave channels include:

Discovery--I'm particularly addicted to The Deadliest Catch, but I also like Mythbusters and occasionally, Time Warp
I also watch Hallmark, USA, and TNT a lot because they show marathons of some of my fave shows like The Golden Girls, House, and Bones, respectively.
On major networks, I watch a little bit of NBC, ABC, and Fox to see The Office, Lost, House, and Bones, respectively. I pretty much never watch CBS.
And I also really like REELs channel. I watch At the Movies and Movie Mob every week. I never heard of REELs until I got DirecTV. Do you guys know if this channel is on other services, or is it exclusive to DirecTV?

HBO, Star World are the channels that supply me with all the English films I want. Especially because some English films haven't released here in India or I've missed it, so I have to wait for one of these channels to telecast the films and its usually worth the wait :)

Discovery Travel and Living, Fox History are some of my favourite channels too. They have some awesome programmes and great documentaries.

ESPN, Star Sports and Star Cricket are great too :tu:

I only have free-to-air TV and watch it very rarely. I usually only watch One HD (sport channel) and ABC on occasion. Every so often I'll watch something on Ten or SBS but those times are few and far between.

Well my family on had CBS and occaisionally NBC through antenna, but we haven't hooked up the new digital recorder thing yet, so no channels at the moment. When I was away for college, I really enjoyed watching the Travel Channel, Food Network, Fox Family, TLC, and the WB. Having only CBS is okay though, since I rarely have time for TV anyway.

Well since I do not have cable, we got an antenna, and a dtv box thing, so my fav channel out of those is Fox because most shows I watch are on that channel, Fringe is my number one...

Out of all the others...hum....idk...I liked the Food Network Ace of Cakes:D(47 I think), then I liked Spike TV(43) cause it was always playing CSI..it is to hard too choose:lol: Then Comedy Central (Reno 911!:D:D:D) which is 52 or 53, it was changed I think.

Spike, mainly because of the CSI reruns. I used to watch TNT because they used to play about 6 hours of X-Files reruns at night. I used to always watch the Disney channel (now I can't stand any of thier current shows) and Nick (like the Disney channel, I can't stnd anymore). I sometimes watch Cartoon Network when they play some of the classics like the original Scooby-Doo. I used to love MTV, when they used to play music (I feel that it's only reality shows now :( )

Right now I have cable... and so far I'm not too impressed with it. I generally like Spike, AMC, Lifetime, Hallmark, FX and that kind of thing, since they show good stuff every now and then. But for the most part -- a lot of stuff that's on tv these days is just commercials and infomercials :sigh:...

And on a side note -- anyone else going to boycott the Sci Fi channel on the 7th of July? I sure am -- even though there's nothing that we can do to stop the name change over to SyFy... I'll make darn sure not to watch the channel that day -- just to show them how much I DO not like the new name  ...

I haven't heard about this. Why in the world are they changing to 'SyFy'??? Looks ridiculous.

I suppose my favorite channel would be Turner Classic Movies; it's basically right up my alley, I've discovered some great films there I may not have seen otherwise, there are often interesting themes and marathons held, and the lack of commercial interruption certainly doesn't hurt.

Oh, I'm so glad you asked! Supposedly it has something to do with wanting to open up and broaden the channel's audience beyond...the sort you might think would usually watch Sci-Fi. So naturally an arbitrary name change to SyFy (which is...clearer?) is called for.

:rotfl: It's brilliantly stupid.

I hardly watch TV anymore, as I just buy the shows I like on DVD. The only two channels I ever visit are Discovery (channel 42, quite appropriately!) and Space (channel 50). I'll sometimes drop by the comedy network to see if Futurama is playing.

I haven't been watching as much tv as I used to. There's just too much junk on there now... not really worth having it persay . I'd go and do that myself if I could -- buy the shows that I like on DVD... but they (the networks and stuff) tend to charge way too much for them :sigh:...

I noticed the SYFY channel name change and but I haven't had time to watch much TV. I wondered if the name was different because I moved to a new area. (But that didn't seem right) I don't like the change.

I guess my favorite channels are Comedy Central just because of the Daily Show, Cartoon Network for it's [adult swim] shows and channels like Discovery, The Science Channel, G4.

Well my family recently and I find myself still watching my usual channels: TLC, Food Network, The Travel Channel, and ABC Family. I've also found some good shows on The Hallmark Channel, CMT, The N, and Oxygen.
