sticky February 2nd, 2008, 9:19 pm So, we have another cast update. Scarlett Byrne is to play Pansy Parkinson. Here is a picuture of our newest casting the link from the Mugglenet page:

So what does everyone think??? It is good that they are casting smaller characters like this i think, it shows they are thinkign mroe about the castign and such...i quite liked the Pansy portrayed in the third movie though, she had the attitude of a slytherin, however this girl looks okay for the part. :)
Mad_Druid February 3rd, 2008, 7:10 am She looks fine for the role :)
I think that she'll have one or two lines tops.
Lisa_Turpin February 3rd, 2008, 8:26 am I doubt she will have a huge role in the film, but I think it is a good idea that they are giving the part officially to someone now. This may be an indication that she'll return in DH, too.
And I think she looks like she could fit the part. I wonder what they'll do with her hair though, and if it will look anything like Pansy's in PoA.
MAGICicalMUggle February 3rd, 2008, 8:30 am She looks alright....Here's her myspace page which she had recently set it on private.

Hysteria February 3rd, 2008, 11:16 am She looks alright I suppose. I'm sure wearing the right costume they could make her look like an evil Slytherin. I dont want to sound harsh but to me she has quite evil eyes  which I guess is great. If she wasnt smiling in that photo she could look quite intimidating!
dobbylikesme February 4th, 2008, 8:44 am She looks alot like I pictured her, so that's great. Jo always described Pansy as "pug-faced", and you can definitely see that, yet she makes pug look cute.
PhoenixLuna February 4th, 2008, 6:47 pm I think she'll do a good job. I think she looks the part too.
X_luna_x February 4th, 2008, 7:26 pm she looks good...bu ti thought the ohter girl looked a little better...well i guess this new girl rocks too! i love her eyes!
sunshinehannah April 5th, 2008, 8:49 pm She looks quite sweet there but I'm sure she'll make a good Pansy. She looks quite young for seventeen. Also, I don't remember Pansy being in the third film :/
firefly20angel May 1st, 2008, 11:38 pm I'm glad they decided to cast small roles like this, and I think she looks good. I don't think they'll bother her having any similarities to Pansy from movie 3, I doubt many people would see that they are supposed to be the same character unless they pause on the credits or hardcore HP fans. Think about it, Movie3!Lavender and Movie6!Lavender have nothing in common, appearence wise and she only appears as an extra in Movie 3. If I hadn't seen certain HP music vids, I wouldn't have realised they even had cast Pansy or Lavender in that film.
Lucybird May 25th, 2008, 3:59 pm hmmm maybe a bit too pretty, I think we hear Pansy described as 'Pug-faced'? She would probably be ok though, if she can act 'ugly'
IMissPadfoot May 25th, 2008, 4:12 pm She is very cute! I am sure she can be made to look "Slytherin" though, and I doubt her role will be very big anyway.
Raven_Girly May 30th, 2008, 3:19 am I can definitely see her as Pansy. She looks cute and pretty in that photo but I am sure they can make her look like a Slytherin. I doubt her role will be very big in this film though.
Ecstatic June 23rd, 2008, 11:11 am Hmm, I think I preferred the other Pansy, just for the reason that she was there first.
potterposse June 23rd, 2008, 3:16 pm Wow. She looks like she could play her. For some reason I pictured Pansy to be blonde (was that in the books? I dont remember), but overall, I can really see the resemblence.
LoonyMagic June 23rd, 2008, 3:30 pm I think she looks like she'll be a good Pansy. She's very pretty, and not at all like I imagined Pansy, but I think she'll do a good job. She will probably only get one or two lines, maybe not even that if her lines get cut.
_LoonyLovegood_ June 23rd, 2008, 3:42 pm I think Scarlett will make the perfect Pansy; she just seems to have the right look. She's pretty, and I can definitely see her in the part. Great casting, in my opinion. :tu:
inkling7 June 23rd, 2008, 3:56 pm Mmmmm! Perhaps slightly pug but not pug enough? I think the previous Pansy had a nasty enough attitude so why re-cast unless Genevieve Gaunt didn't want to do be in the other films due to study or other acting commitments - or something?
Potter_fan July 4th, 2008, 11:58 pm wow she's pretty. She should make a good Pansy and will probably return for DH.
teardrops17 July 6th, 2008, 5:41 am I am not saying that she's not good to be Pansy. It's just that when reading the book, Genevieve Gaunt aged with the books. It's like I imagined her all along until the very end whenever I read and that would make me want her over Scarlett.
Anyways, let's see how good she act, and how Slytherin can the make-up department can make her.
Good luck to her anyway.
AccioHP July 6th, 2008, 5:50 am Thanks for posting. Im also glad that they are casting these parts.
She looks like a good Pansy to me.
lily_potter73 July 30th, 2008, 11:27 am Did Scarlett act in any movie? Which one? i thought it's Genevieve Gaunt.
inkling7 July 31st, 2008, 11:52 am It was but she's been replaced. Perhaps she didn't want to do it anymore or they decided to get someone else. I didn't mind Genevieve Gaunt - I thought she made a good Pansy - but there you go.... I don't think Scarlett has been in any HP films before.
L1keAstaRRxx July 31st, 2008, 6:47 pm I think I could imagine her having that evil look in her eye.
Kashman August 16th, 2008, 4:11 pm hmmm maybe a bit too pretty, I think we hear Pansy described as 'Pug-faced'? She would probably be ok though, if she can act 'ugly'
I totally agree with your coment, I think she's a bit too pretty!!! But typical of film studios execs, JK sad she was pug-faced, Scarlett doesn't look pug faced to me!
bellatrix93 September 9th, 2008, 6:55 pm I think she'll be perfect, she has a Pansy-ish look on her face . I think she'll make a great Pansy. But I wonder why they replaced Genevieve Gaunt, I think she was perfect for Pansy.
TheShley October 14th, 2008, 9:27 am She's a bit too pretty for my liking. I have never imagined Pansy as a pretty girl. Is she meant to be?
birdi86 October 14th, 2008, 9:41 am People - do we really think Draco would date an ugly girl? C'mon now.
charli2205 October 14th, 2008, 5:40 pm People - do we really think Draco would date an ugly girl? C'mon now.
Exactly. And when they were casting Pansy, they were hardly going to say "wanted: ugly girl to play the part of Pansy Parkinson in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince." That would have been a bit harsh if they chose a girl just because she was ugly. They just need a girl that looks obnoxious and snooty. I rekon she could probably pull it off.

 I never imagined Pansy as ugly, just an ugly personality.
lilyrose October 16th, 2008, 9:25 am She's perfect for Pansy...I wonder what interactions they let her have with Draco..apart from the train one...
She sure can look evil when required:lol:
Jack5555 July 27th, 2009, 4:24 am She looks fine for the role :)
I think that she'll have one or two lines tops.
Now that the movie is out, I am pretty sure she had 3 :p
I liked her more than the previous ones, but I really don't get why they recast her for every movie. In OotP, she was played by a different actor than PoA. She was not in GoF at all.
Hasn't she been confirmed to return in DH?
TheWestTower July 27th, 2009, 4:55 am She was fine in HBP, but truthfully I wanted to see the same girl from Order of the Phoenix' come back:
http://magicfans17.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/pansyparkinson2.jpeg
Admittedly, we never really saw her act the part, but she looked more "Pansy Parkinson" to me. On appearance alone, Scarlett Byrne came off a bit nice.
lilamedusa August 10th, 2009, 8:21 am I've never thought of Pansy as 'ugly', so Scarlett's fine. She did well in the movie, nothing spectacular, but it was a small role. And as someone said, Draco wouldn't date an ugly girl. HEr looks were obviously a bit mocked because we get HArry's POV of things. Peoplee we hate use to look ugly to us.
xclaudine August 10th, 2009, 10:40 am Scarlett would make the perfect Pansy!!
JR637 August 11th, 2009, 4:17 pm I can't remember from the book, does Draco end up marrying Pansy? I know he had a kid, did we see the mother?
Mad_Druid August 11th, 2009, 4:53 pm I can't remember from the book, does Draco end up marrying Pansy? I know he had a kid, did we see the mother?
Draco ends up marrying Asteria/Astoria Greengrass.
I thought that Scarlett Byrne was fine with the little she had to do.
Annielogic August 11th, 2009, 5:08 pm I thought that Scarlett Byrne was fine with the little she had to do.
Yes, unfortunately Scarlett Byrne had little screen time/lines. I agree, she did a good job with what she had.
JR637 August 11th, 2009, 5:25 pm From Harry Potter Wiki:
J.K. Rowling has said that she chose to have Draco marry someone other than Pansy Parkinson, who seems to have been his girlfriend during his adolescence, because she always hated Pansy, who represented "the girls who teased me when I was at school". She has referred to Pansy as "the anti-Hermione".
Too bad for Scarlett unless they decide to change it in the movie.
Mad_Druid August 11th, 2009, 5:29 pm From Harry Potter Wiki:

We never see Draco and Asteria together anyway so it doesn't really have much impact.
dchristen03 August 14th, 2009, 11:03 am Well, I think she's okay, she definitely has that pug-face kind of look (no offense, she's pretty and all, but perfect for the pug-face role), but I imagined her to have short black hair as in like in PoA. She's great though!
