The Third Task

Ludo Bagman was standing in the middle of the field with Krum and Fleur. Harry and Cedric made their way toward them, climbing over the hedges. Fleur beamed at Harry as he came nearer. Her attitude toward him had changed completely since he had saved her sister from the lake. "Well, what d'you think?" said Bagman happily as Harry and Cedric climbed over the last hedge. "Growing nicely, aren't they? Give them a month and Hagrid'll have them twenty feet high. Don't worry," he added, grinning, spotting the less-than-happy expressions on Harrys and Cedric's faces, "you'll have your Quidditch field back to normal once the task is over! Now, I imagine you can guess what we're making here?" No one spoke for a moment. Then - "Maze," grunted Krum. "There will be obstacles," said Bagman happily, bouncing on the balls of his feet. "Hagrid is providing a number of creatures . . . then there will be spells that must be broken ... all that sort of thing, you know. . . . Should be fun, eh?"

And now onto the Third Task. The Maze. There will be obstacles, as Bagman says, there will be challenges. We will not tell you what they are. On April 15, the Maze will open. You can enter the Maze by owling any staff member for final instructions. Once you begin you will have 20 minutes to complete the Maze. Champions can complete the Task any time between April 15 and April 22. Once the Champions have all completed the Maze, it will be open for non-Champions to try their luck.

The Third Task will go live in half an hour (midnight GMT on April 15th). Once it is live, it will be a subforum of The Cloak. It is password protected. You can owl any member of staff (except the non-me Admins) for the password. Make sure you pick someone who is online when you want to do it. If they don't respond, you are allowed to owl another staff member.

Your twenty minutes begins when you enter the task NOT when you owl the staff member so don't worry that a slow response will slow you down.

Once you have completed the Task, we expect you to keep its contents to yourself until the 22nd. You can say, "I just finished" or "Wow that was cool" but any references to specifics will disqualify you from the entire Tournament.

If you have questions for staff or have technical difficulties there will be a thread in the Task forum or you can owl any staff member you see online. Technical problems will not count towards your overall time.
