Jessica October 25th, 2008, 12:18 am It's finally here! This is the Official Election thread - the winner will be the CoS Minister for Magic and will preside over future Ministry type activities here on CoS as well as running the Ministry itself in the Wizarding World.
The poll is one vote per member and no one can see who you voted for. If you are part of a group you can link to it in your signature and encourage members to vote but please use some caution when promoting the elections - owls and profile messages telling members to vote for your candidate is too much.
That said Kingsley and I would like to thank all the teams for doing such a fabulous job in these elections. You all have worked so hard and the Ministry as well as the candidates are grateful for your time and energy.
Undecided voters can look at the following threads to learn more about the candidates and what they hope to achieve if elected:

What a surprise, really?
As much as a surprise as my vote for Cedric and George. :lol:
Oh, and undecided voters, on top of our Comprehensive Threads that Jessica gave a link to in her opening posts, you may check the Campaign Team's individual threads too, in the "non-sticky" part of this sub-forum.
The link to the Cedric & George team (where you can, among other things, read hpkid421's poems, for those of you who had trouble reading them in color in the Comprehensive thread), is: http://www.cosforums.com/showthread.php?t=117604

I do, but I already cast my vote for Severus and Molly. You might win other people over though. ;)
What a surprise, really?
As much as a surprise as my vote for Cedric and George. :lol:
Pretty much. :lol:
Den_muggle October 25th, 2008, 7:52 pm Is it just me, or are some of the links in our final thread not working correctly? All the links to the Tyneham project (post #7) are the same link, even though they have different numbers and get to know Hermione and get to know Neville links are the same links in post #14.
EDIT: In case anyone wants to look at the thread now, it's fixed. Thanks kala_way!!
Annielogic October 25th, 2008, 8:02 pm Best of luck to everyone, you've all worked so hard!
I voted for Severus and Molly!
Those pygmy puffs are cute!
FleurduJardin October 25th, 2008, 8:14 pm :(, voldy and lucius only have one vote :upset:
They have two now. Take heart. The polls only just opened a few hours ago, and we have until 7 November to vote. :)
I really like what your team did, V8th, you're a small but extremely talented bunch. Maybe you'll get a special award or something.

Congrats, Voldemort team!
You know, if you had chosen pictures of the young Tom Riddle, I may have been swayed to go your way... But I can't bring myself to vote for a red-eyed, noseless person, even if he's played by Ralph Fiennes. ;)
As it was, my vote went with the readers of Witch Weekly. That one is a seriously hotty dude! :drool:
Besides, I think his ticket's platform is a very cool one. Uniting worlds Muggle and Magic. Saving the Planet. Starting with children of all races. Those are worthy goals indeed. :tu:

Congrats to you of the Snape/Molly team. You have an impressive lead. :tu:

Larina October 26th, 2008, 3:51 pm Well, I just voted for Hermione/Neville. However I must say, that the thread of the Snape/Molly team and also the one of the Harry/Ron team nearly managed to change my mind. Congratulations to all the teams - I really enjoyed the campaigns. :tu:

PS
Boushh, you got ahead of me in posts. No fair!! :p
jordmundt6 October 26th, 2008, 4:01 pm Permit me to state the following--I like the idea of the campaigns and the candidates are intriguing. However, I feel that none truly serve. I will be voting--but, I think Wizard Britain is best served with a coalition government. The brains and compassion of Hermione Granger-Weasley who has already shown her flair for governmental work during her meteoric rise in the Ministry--and the tough hard-fought wisdom of the most celebrated veteran of the last war, Harry Potter. Let the thought processes that complemented one another so well in the late struggle work to build a better future for Britain and the wizarding world as a whole.
That said, I have all the confidence in the world in Neville Longbottom as a second for Mrs. Granger-Weasley. Hogwarts will miss its new Herbology Professor, but this is an important post at a crucial time.

Thank you so much for your vote of confidence. I will convey it to our candidates. As both are good friends with Harry and Ron, I'm sure they'll take a leaf from Ron's book and give them positions in the Granger-Weasley/ Longbottom administration. ;) (You have to have read the various threads to get the joke.)

I've already voted for Arthur and Filius and I'm pretty glad there doing this good.
If I wasn't a committed Arthur supporter, I'd have voted for Hermione and Neville. I think they did a great job on all the tasks I think they make a great pairing.

Of course, many of us have commitments, but it is a great honour for our team to see members of other teams express their trust in our candidates. :)
We all worked very hard, and your appreciation really means a lot. :)

Voldemorts8thHorcrux October 26th, 2008, 10:03 pm Doesn't Voldemort/Lucius at least get some pity votes? :(
storyteller October 26th, 2008, 11:36 pm I voted for Ron and Harry, of course. Now is the time to let little things like team members being alive influence your vote. All the teams did a great job and deserve tons of praise, but only one team can win.
I do know Ron and Harry will be generous with cabinent positions though, if elected.
eaglestreasure October 26th, 2008, 11:51 pm Not telling with whom my vote resides...
...
OK, fine, if you must know! Obama/Palin
:lol: (Yeah, just so that you know that spoiler box is a joke. As if they would even be running together!)

meesha1971 October 27th, 2008, 12:04 am Well, it wasn't too hard to decide. All the dead people are automatically eliminated as far as I'm concerned - dead people do not make good leaders! :p So there really are only three viable choices to choose from. I went with Arthur and Filius because I think Harry and Ron would prefer to be out there catching dark wizards rather than sitting behind a desk and I don't think Hermione - as much as I love her - really would not make a good Minister.

I realize you have already voted and I can't change that, but I would be interested in hearing why you think Hermione wouldn't make a good co-Minister with Neville.
storyteller October 27th, 2008, 12:28 am I want to remind people to read the campaign threads and pay attention to where some of the public questions are from. There is one comment that I "quoted" from a previous post. Then I replied to it. I did not make the original statemement.
PureBloodGirl October 27th, 2008, 1:28 am Doesn't Voldemort/Lucius at least get some pity votes? :(
Pity votes? We are voting for a capable Minister not out of pity. :lol:
I voted for Snape/Weasley of course. I'm very glad to see that we are ahead already.
I have a question. How long does the voting go till and when will the Minister be announced?
Morning_Star October 27th, 2008, 1:39 am Doesn't Voldemort/Lucius at least get some pity votes? :(
I think I might have voted Voldemort/Lucius if I had some more votes... Really, all teams - and the Moderators, if that was possible - should have gotten my vote, because everyone have worked really hard! :tu:
Den_muggle October 27th, 2008, 2:28 am Someone in our group mentioned the notice on the front page of CoS about the election, but I couldn't find it. Then I looked at it in IE and saw the nice notice. I know there are a lot of people here who use FireFox, as I do. Is there any way you can put it up so that everyone sees it?

Hmm, I use FF, and I got the notice. It does not show up every time, though. I think it does if you log out and then log in again.

I can't see it when I'm logged in, either. I can only when I'm viewing as a guest, and I don't use Firefox.

Same with me. Either that or if I log out and log back in.
wickedwickedboy October 27th, 2008, 2:56 am I get the message every time. But I checked "challenged user" when I originally set up my computer, so you know - it does everything for me figuring I am severely in need. :rotfl:
Den_muggle October 27th, 2008, 2:58 am I hope the marvelous staff can figure out what's wrong and get it fixed so it shows up more consistently. We certainly want to get out the vote and that's a great way. If Ali could have the fireworks showing up on every screen in the top corner, I'm sure he can put the notice up the same way so everyone sees it and gets the opportunity to make their voice be heard and for for the team they think will do the best job for the wizarding world. (Hermione & Neville, of course!;))
freelantzer October 27th, 2008, 2:59 am I hadn't been to CoS for several days. The voting started while I was gone. The first time I got on today, I could see the announcement but not after that. I just assumed it would be visible to those who hadn't been here since it was posted--once you've seen it, it's not stuck at the top of your page anymore.
vampiricduck October 27th, 2008, 3:03 am I get the message every time. But I checked "challenged user" when I originally set up my computer, so you know - it does everything for me figuring I am severely in need. :rotfl:
That is honestly the funniest thing I've ever heard.
Mine comes up every now and again, but it's neither consistent nor predictable, so I guess that would explain it. And it was a wonderful announcement, but I've not seen it in a day or so now!
boushh October 27th, 2008, 3:14 am It comes up when you first show up and when you log back in. It doesn't sit there as you browse around. I use Firefox.
I just figured that its purpose was to make the announcement and then go away until you log out and log back in, and then it makes the announcement again. It might be annoying for people to have it sitting there on top of their browser the whole time. I was surprised and glad to see that we had as good of an announcement as we did. I thought it was going to be in some sort of "announcements" section and not as a notice at the top of the board like that.
vampiricduck October 27th, 2008, 3:23 am That would explain why I don't see it so often. I only signed out once yesterday, and that was because I deleted the settings that made me permanently signed in. I'm also on Firefox! So I've seen the announcement twice, which makes sense with your explanation. I also see that if you're right, that would be the best way of going about things. :agree: Most people are sensible enough to log out, I just shut down my computer and when I restart, I'm signed in without the effort, if you know what I mean.
boushh October 27th, 2008, 3:30 am Oh yeah... the way it is set up it doesn't take into account people who stay logged in. I don't. I always try to log out.
arithmancer October 27th, 2008, 3:33 am Oh yeah... the way it is set up it doesn't take into account people who stay logged in. I don't. I always try to log out.
A reasonable setup, it seems to me. Those members who never log out of CoS (like me :D ) may have noticed that there is an election going on already. :lol:

I went with Arthur and Filius because I think Harry and Ron would prefer to be out there catching dark wizards rather than sitting behind a desk and I don't think Hermione - as much as I love her - really would not make a good Minister.We are proud to have such a great member of CoS supporting our campaign!
freelantzer October 27th, 2008, 3:57 am A reasonable setup, it seems to me. Those members who never log out of CoS (like me :D ) may have noticed that there is an election going on already. :lol:
I never log out, either, but it was up at the top of my page the first time I opened this site today. As I said, before today I haven't been here since the voting began. So I think it shows on the top of your page the first time you visit after the announcement was posted. Just like with regular announcements--once a new announcement is posted, the little announcement icon flashes at you the first time you visit the site after that post was made.
LilyLunaPotter October 27th, 2008, 4:06 am I voted for Sirius and Bill. Who says the minister has to be living??? And besides, it safer if the arent the cant be assasinated!!! Mwhahaha
arithmancer October 27th, 2008, 4:09 am I voted for Harry and Ron...because while Sanpe and Molly have a great campaign thing going on...I'd like my minister and their running mate to BOTH be alive !
In real life, a dead person cannot lead because, if they do indeed continue to exist, they do not appear to be easily able to communicate. In Rowling's world, this is no barrier. They do continue to exist, and they can communicate through various means - as ghosts, through portraits, and when wizards use magical devices such as the Resurrection Stone or wands to summon them. The most prominent example of this is of course the portrait of Headmaster Dumbledore, which in DH is still managing his own plan to defeat Voldemort as a portrait. He gives Snape advice on events that had not yet happened when he died. He also spoke to Harry in the "King's Cross" chapter in a different form, and in the last chapter, again in portrait form.
I voted for Sirius and Bill. Who says the minister has to be living??? And besides, it safer if the arent the cant be assasinated!!! Mwhahaha
An excellent argument I had not considered! :elaugh:
boushh October 27th, 2008, 4:17 am ^^ Good points, zgirnius and LilyLunaPotter. :)
In addition, it seems to me that voters should consider all of the teams based on their candidates and how their campaign teams presented them for the election. Everyone has worked hard, and that includes those teams with dead candidates. They actually make up the bulk of the teams, so lots of members considered the dead candidates capable enough to sign up to work on their campaigns for two months. :)
Dead candidates were allowed to run from the beginning, and as far as I'm concerned that means that they were considered to be capable of attending to the duties required of them, even if it is in an unconventional fashion. There are lots of possibilities in the Wizarding World. For the purposes of the CoS Minister of Magic, I don't see dead candidates being less capable than those that are alive. They can both attend to the duties here in the same way.
JMHO. :)
wickedwickedboy October 27th, 2008, 4:22 am Well all of the views are respectable. If someone doesn't want to vote for a person who has died in the wizard world and exists on a different plane, that is fine. If they don't want to vote for those still trotting around the wizard world alive, that is fine too. If they only want to vote for those who played Quidditch or who darned socks for elves, or who rode flying motorbikes, or who faced or killed Nagini and survived, miraculously survived death as a mini-me head, etc., well we have someone for everyone, don't we? :rotfl:
twinsrule26 October 27th, 2008, 4:26 am I see that someone with the power to change things has moved the voting notice thingy to the top of the main page :clap: YAY!! and thank you person in power .

Uh.. wick? Wick? "Miraculously survived death as a mini-me head"... :D
:lol: You make a good point about the variety of candidates.
As for the person with a tiny head who somehow survived (correct me if I'm wrong on this front...), Molly will send them a jumper and I'm sure Hermione would knit them a hat.. So I do see what you mean! :)
leah49 October 27th, 2008, 4:37 am I think the only criteria people should take into account is if the candidate has been an Auror or not.

Voldy in GoF...he was pretty much just a head in Wormy's pocket. A miraculous survival if ever there was one.
I think the only criteria people should take into account is if the candidate has been an Auror or not.

Beatifically October 27th, 2008, 4:41 am Well, that only leaves one option! :whistle:

Shameless. Shameless advertising, you guys!
Good job of doing it though!!! :D

Hey, touché! I was wondering was it the Quirrell scenario, but had forgotten that part. :agree: It was still fun to read though!:D
meesha1971 October 27th, 2008, 4:49 am I realize you have already voted and I can't change that, but I would be interested in hearing why you think Hermione wouldn't make a good co-Minister with Neville.
Hermione is one of my favorite characters - just getting that out there cause I don't wanna be called a "Hermione-hater" :lol: - but I think she has too great of a tendency to disregard any opinion that does not coincide with her own and it's extremely difficult for her to admit when she is wrong. A good leader should be willing to listen to all ideas and options and consider that they might be better than their own. I just don't see Hermione ever really overcoming that flaw in her personality. It's one of the things that makes her such a great character in the books, but it also makes her ill suited for a political career with leadership goals.
We are proud to have such a great member of CoS supporting our campaign!
Aww, shucks. :blush:

Good correction! :tu:
Beatifically October 27th, 2008, 4:59 am :D Thanks!
To me, anyone who has a creature in his or her chest should be Minister by default.
leah49 October 27th, 2008, 4:59 am Definitely! That's like getting two Ministers in one.
ArryGrotter October 27th, 2008, 5:01 am To me, anyone who has a creature in his or her chest should be Minister by default.
Wouldn't that creature try to take over the Ministry? :p
leah49 October 27th, 2008, 5:01 am Wouldn't that creature try to take over the Ministry? :p
Oh, no, no, no, no, no. :no:
Lord Godric October 27th, 2008, 5:09 am I think the only qualification should be how long one has been in the Ministry. We are looking at 11+ years at least. You know that whole experience arguement. ;)
Beatifically October 27th, 2008, 5:12 am Well, I wouldn't mind ten years in the Ministry. :whistle:
leah49 October 27th, 2008, 5:14 am Well, I wouldn't mind ten years in the Ministry. :whistle:
Does having both candidates in for ten years each count as 20 years experience?
Lord Godric October 27th, 2008, 5:14 am Most certainly not!
leah49 October 27th, 2008, 5:16 am :p .
arithmancer October 27th, 2008, 5:21 am Yes, but executive experience at the highest level surely matters more than years of service. The choice for relevant Ministry experience is clear - Lord Voldemort. ;)
Lord Godric October 27th, 2008, 5:28 am ;).
leah49 October 27th, 2008, 5:32 am Yes, but executive experience at the highest level surely matters more than years of service. The choice for relevant Ministry experience is clear - Lord Voldemort. ;)
highest level of what?
silver ink pot October 27th, 2008, 5:34 am Yes, but executive experience at the highest level surely matters more than years of service. The choice for relevant Ministry experience is clear - Lord Voldemort. ;)
Living as multiple horcruxes, he's certainly the oldest candidate, too. :whistle: Age and experience!
wickedwickedboy October 27th, 2008, 5:38 am Oh come on, everyone knows the only sure bet for a fantastic Minister is a dark haired guy whose hair sticks up at the back and has green eyes! I mean historically, all the great Ministers fit that description. It is so relevant and material to the position. :D
twinsrule26 October 27th, 2008, 5:42 am Kindly reminds everyone that Hermione has many years of experience in the Ministry and that Neville was a Auror before becomming a respected Professor at Hogwarts so there is a great many very highly experienced Candidates for the voter to choose from.

"Historically all the great Ministers fit that description"? Could we have some examples of that extraordinary assertion, Wick? I can't for the life of me remember a single green-eyed Minister... :D
However, dead Wizards make great Ministers. If you doubt it, read Cedric's interview posted by Minisinoo in our Final Thread. He makes a very convincing case. :cool:
vampiricduck October 27th, 2008, 5:50 am I prefer dark eyes and a silky voice. Surely many voters do also! :evil:
I sure do... :eyebrows:
AHEM!
LilyLunaPotter October 27th, 2008, 5:53 am Oh come on!!! Any Sirius supporters out there!!!
Only Sirius can be Serious about being Minister!!!
leah49 October 27th, 2008, 5:54 am I prefer all my Ministers wearing glasses and having cool looking scars, but that's just me.
boushh October 27th, 2008, 5:55 am Oh no no no noooooo, black hair and grey eyes is the way to go, and the whole being able to morph into a giant dog helps to! :p
While I'm definitely of the dark hair, dark eyes and silky voice camp, I do have to say that the morphing into a dog thing is pretty cool. :)
Beatifically October 27th, 2008, 5:57 am I prefer all my Ministers wearing glasses and having cool looking scars, but that's just me.
Especially if the Minister had a tattoo of a Hungarian Horntail on his chest! :cool:
HedwigOwl October 27th, 2008, 5:58 am Harry is my favorite.....but I'd hate to stick him in an administrative job, it'd ruin him, and both he & Ron would be bored out of their minds.
Hermione's perfect for that sort of thing, & Neville is a good sidekick because he thinks differently that she does.
LilyLunaPotter October 27th, 2008, 6:00 am Hmpf, come on Sirius supporters help me out!!!!
Sirius was smart enough to escape Azkaban, how many of your canidates have done that???
Sirius supporters help me out!!
Sirius Black was smart and brave enough to escape Azkaban, how many of you're canidates have done that??
Beatifically October 27th, 2008, 6:01 am *represses Sirius fangirling tendencies*
Well, I would support a candidate that broke out of Gringotts! :lol:
vampiricduck October 27th, 2008, 6:05 am I don't think I'd support one who broke in... ;)
(Best conversation all campaign, by the way!! :D)
LilyLunaPotter October 27th, 2008, 6:05 am Ya but does Gringotts have dementors??? I think not!
Beatifically October 27th, 2008, 6:06 am I don't think I'd support one who broke in...
It was for righteous reasons! :p
:rotfl: This is the weirdest conversation.
LilyLunaPotter October 27th, 2008, 6:09 am Yes but it was still breaking and entering! Punishable by law y'know?
I agree silliest convo ever!
vampiricduck October 27th, 2008, 6:10 am Yes but it was still breaking and entering! Punishable by law y'know?
So's breaking out of Azkaban... :whistle:
;)
Beatifically October 27th, 2008, 6:11 am Yes but it was still breaking and entering! Punishable by law y'know?
But it was the only way to get rid of the most evil wizard of all time. ;) Plus I wouldn't really trust how the government was run then considering how it was infiltrated. (And even after I'm sure Kingsley would have pardoned him if he needed to.)
LilyLunaPotter October 27th, 2008, 6:12 am Well, ripping off a goblin was mean!!!
Breaking out Azkaban might be, but he was innocent! And it took some mad skills to do it, may i add!
Beatifically October 27th, 2008, 6:13 am Well, ripping off a goblin was mean!!!
The goblin tricked poor Harry and was telling the Death Eaters he was there. :(
LilyLunaPotter October 27th, 2008, 6:16 am Well maybe the goblin was angry that Harry was trying to rip him off, maybe the goblin knew he was gonna get ripped off, so he did what he could do to make sure he got paid what he rightfully deserved.
LOL this is fun!
leah49 October 27th, 2008, 6:24 am Especially if the Minister had a tattoo of a Hungarian Horntail on his chest! :cool:You'll have to ask the red headed wife about that one.
LilyLunaPotter October 27th, 2008, 6:25 am Well I gotta go, i have school in 8 hrs, sleep is sadly nessacry, by!
wickedwickedboy October 27th, 2008, 6:25 am "Historically all the great Ministers fit that description"? Could we have some examples of that extraordinary assertion, Wick? I can't for the life of me remember a single green-eyed Minister... :D
~~~History Lesson~~~~~
Well there was Otgagonous Fidilpool; granted he had 18 green eyes because he was an ocularian octopus, but his dark hair stuck up all over the place! The first octopus Minister. :agree:. And then the whole line of Camiliouses (I, II, III, IV, and V), green eyed by birth, and they slept in curlers to ensure their hair would stick nicely up at the back. In fact Camilious VI was booted out of office because he had the gumption to be born with brown eyes and blonde hair. The Ministry hasn't been the same since!
SallyTSKD October 27th, 2008, 1:06 pm Hey, is the poll still open for voting, even though the results (so far?) are up, and if so, how long have I got before it closes?
I haven't yet read all the candidates' election addresses, and I feel that in all fairness I should do that before I vote, rather than judging on the somewhat more superficial grounds of prettiest eyes or sexiest motorbike - even though rather too many RL elections are decided on such grounds. ;) Particularly since it'll be the manifesto writers who'll be carrying out the ministerial duties on behalf of the winning team of candidates
Hi, Sally! :wave: I'm glad you want to look over the material for all the candidates, and I hope you will consider Severus Snape/Molly Weasley for your vote.
You have until November 7th next week to vote.
Elections will open on October 25 and will stay open through November 7. The election thread will not be multiple choice and voter choice will not be visible.
SallyTSKD October 27th, 2008, 2:02 pm and I hope you will consider Severus Snape/Molly Weasley for your vote.
Of course. Along with all the others, I hasten to add.:) No-one will be dismissed out of hand, even Voldemort/Lucius, without my first considering what they have to say. I've got a lot of reading to do still, so I'm delighted to learn there's still plenty of time to complete it in. I see that your candidates are currently lying in first place, and I have to say I'm not surprised, judging purely on the level of activity, and the organisational skills, of their team, insofar as I've had a chance to observe it during my very limited time so far on these forums. Plus added inducements such as your throwing magnificent parties for all and sundry! Let's hope you're not accused of bribery and corruption.;)
I hope not. We earned that thread by winning the Charity Challenge for "A Jumper for Every Child (http://www.cosforums.com/showpost.php?p=5165254&postcount=10). Instead of using the thread as an extra Spotlight, we decided to do something fun for all the teams who have worked so hard. :)
vampiricduck October 27th, 2008, 3:58 pm Let's hope you're not accused of bribery and corruption.;)
:wow:!! All teams are guilty of bribery perhaps! ;)
You should see all the sweets everyone has put in there!! :D
Go and have some if you haven't already!
Have fun deciding how to vote, if you've any questions, any of the teams will be happy to help.:tu:
leah49 October 27th, 2008, 5:41 pm And just when have Harry and Ron resorted to bribery? Hm?
leah49 October 27th, 2008, 5:59 pm That's bribery?
vampiricduck October 27th, 2008, 6:11 pm Well, jokingly, perhaps!
But we do have a policy against that in the thread, so I don't think it counts at all! :D There's no campaigning in there, just eating! :)
Evik October 27th, 2008, 8:33 pm Hermione/Neville got my vote. I think they'd do the a great job as Co-Ministers (I really like the idea of co-ministers:tu:).
Well, I'm not just doing this because I was part of a small campaign group, but the small groups were at a disadvantage and i of course haven't seen the votes, but i have a feeling that snape Molly supporters voted for themselves ;), just like our team did. If I were toget a second vote, I would put it with Luna Dobby who have also done extremely well despite their small numbers.
wickedwickedboy October 27th, 2008, 11:17 pm Well the outcome says nothing at all about the fun you had participating in the challenges or what you and your team thought/think of your efforts - that is all personal and no one can take that away from you. :tu:
Severus_Snape77 October 28th, 2008, 12:07 am Dang, Hermione and Neville are awfully close to Snape and Molly.
Klio October 28th, 2008, 12:12 am Nothing aweful about it.... :)
I hope our candidates have shown that they'd do a reasonable job. :)
GodricHollow October 28th, 2008, 12:18 am Dang, Hermione and Neville are awfully close to Snape and Molly.
From our point of view there's nothing awful about it. Besides which, make for a more interesting finale.
Voldemorts8thHorcrux October 28th, 2008, 12:20 am It would be awfully dull if Severus and Molly were at 100 and the rest of us only had 10 votes ;)
GodricHollow October 28th, 2008, 12:28 am Again, from your viewpoint it would be, as no-one likes to see their team being given a hiding.
**MODS: Feel free to edit/delete/what have you if this contravenes anything. I don't think it does (certainly there's no sign of any "No Overt Campaigning In This Thread rule), but if it does, go ahead**
CALLING ALL WHO HAVE NOT VOTED IN THE MOM ELECTIONS:
Vote Hermione/Neville.
This is your chance to have your say in your country. Stand up and speak out. Speak up. Stand and be counted.
Rise, fellow Witches, Wizards, and Magical Beings, and make your voices heard.
We'll Listen. We'll Work Hard. We'll Be There For You.
Mrs_D_Malfoy October 28th, 2008, 12:28 am *fidgits with anticipation* so when does the voting end? hermione and neville are moving too close to sev and molly :scared:
Voldemorts8thHorcrux October 28th, 2008, 12:32 am Again, from your viewpoint it would be, as no-one likes to see their team being given a hiding.
I didn't mean that. Like right now, it's pretty interesting because Hermione/Neville seem to have a reasonable chance of overtaking Severus/Molly, but if you guys weren't there at a fairly close margin, I really wouldn't bother checking this thread. Personally, I would like Severus/Molly to win, I just think they're a slightly better pair, but it's more exciting to see someone else closely behind
GodricHollow October 28th, 2008, 12:38 am But you see, because it's so close, people are checking this thread and they are voting, thus making it closer. If one team took a big lead, no-one would bother voting as they would think that it's a foregone conclusion, or if they did vote they would vote for the leading team, just so they could jump on the bandwagon (sad but true).
Voldemorts8thHorcrux October 28th, 2008, 12:41 am Yeah, that's exactly what i was saying.
Den_muggle October 28th, 2008, 12:43 am I didn't mean that. Like right now, it's pretty interesting because Hermione/Neville seem to have a reasonable chance of overtaking Severus/Molly, but if you guys weren't there at a fairly close margin, I really wouldn't bother checking this thread. Hermione and Neville and their dedicated team will do their best to oblige you when it comes to making it exciting! :) Of course, we don't intend to oblige you far enough to allow Severus/Molly to actually win. (Not if we can help it, that is. ;))
I do agree that it's been fun and no one can take that away even if we don't win. :cool:
Muggle_Magic October 28th, 2008, 3:33 am Well, I'm not just doing this because I was part of a small campaign group, but the small groups were at a disadvantage and i of course haven't seen the votes, but i have a feeling that snape Molly supporters voted for themselves ;), just like our team did. If I were toget a second vote, I would put it with Luna Dobby who have also done extremely well despite their small numbers.
Of course every campaign worker voted for their own team. It's to be expected. :shrug:
But you're right, the bigger teams have a big advantage from the starting point. It'd be interesting if you could count, not the actual number of votes (teams with 60 members will end up with at least sixty votes) but the total number of votes as compared to the actual number of a given team's active members. The Voldie team and our own have less than five active members each, and yet we managed to get over twice that number of votes. It should count for something. IMHO. Just an idea. :D
And V8th, we only trail the Luna team by two votes right now... I'd say we're doing pretty well, all things considered. ;) Besides, it's early yet. Hopefully, absentee members will show up, crashed computers will get repaired, etc. As long as the polls aren't closed, there's hope. Winning for our team never has been a real possibility. But last time we managed to end up fourth in the exit polls. We're keeping the faith. http://www.avenueviet.com/forums/images/smiles/angel.gif
Cedric/George team, rally round the Triwizard Cup!!! http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg211/Bilybear/Harry%20Potter/TriwizardCup.png
Cedric won it fair and square. Who knows what would have happened if both he and Harry hadn't been so noble? Just remember how and why Cedric died. And remember Dumbledore's words. :)
twinsrule26 October 28th, 2008, 5:28 am *fidgits with anticipation* so when does the voting end? hermione and neville are moving too close to sev and molly :scared:
I believe that the Polls close on the 7th. of Nov. So there is still plenty of time left to get the vote out for your Fav. Team.
Count us in too..we have less than 5 active members..but we've been doing a pretty good job so far...:)
Beatifically October 28th, 2008, 5:51 am I think most teams have around five people who actively participate.
:agree:
Klio October 28th, 2008, 8:42 am Yes, I think this is a little bit comparing two different figures. We all look at the Snape/Molly team and see 60 members on the list. I suspect they had a few more people than most teams to actually chip in, but still - it's obvious that they didn't have *60* active members.
If you want to compare the figures, you have to go by that list of people signed up for your social group.
Still, the differences are of course significant.....
