There are lots of good music festivals around the world, here you can share your past experiences and the future music events you plan to attend :)

I have been to :

Big Day Out-
2004 (Muse, The Strokes, Metallica)
2005 (System Of A Down, Slipknot)
2006 (Franz Ferdinand)
2007 (Muse, My Chemical Romance, Tool, The Killers)
2008 (Rage Against The Machine)

Soundwave-
2008 (The Offspring, Alexisonfire, Mindless Self Indulgence, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Thursday + others)

Taste Of Chaos (not exactly a festival but close enough)-
2007 (Rise Against, Drop Dead Gorgeous, The Bled, Gallows)

Plan on attending:

Soundwave-
2009 (Anberlin, Lacuna Coil, Nine Inch Nails, Alkaline Trio, Underoath, Dillinger Escape Plan, DevilDriver, In Flames, Unearth, Everytime I Die, Funeral For A Friend, From FIrst To Last, Alice In Chains, 36 Crazyfists + more)- I might have to go in two states to see all the bands I like :D

The best ones are a toss up between Big Day Out 2007 (I met MCR who I loved at the time plus Muse were awesome) and Soundwave 2008 (Despite the tremendous heat and large amount of dust it was a great day. Got to meet MSI :D)

I would love to go tow Warped one day or Inferno (Metal festival in Norway), Metal For The Brain, Tuska Open Air Metal Festival, Monsters Of Rock, Meltdown Festival and Bloodstock. (If anybody has been to any of these festivals I'd love to hear about it :))

Anybody care to share their festival experiences, hopes and dreams?

Hmm...

I'm not much of a one for festivals, to be honest. They usually cost too much and getting off a job or anything like it is a total nightmare.

However, in 2005 I did go to Slane Castle for the music festival that goes ahead there. The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Feeder, and Queens of the Stone Age played.. there were more, but I can't recall them at this stage!!

And in 2008, I went to Oxegen, which has incidentally, just been voted best European Festival. I saw about 14 acts over three days, which was pretty good going to be honest, so I liked it.

I'm planning on going back there next year, for sure. And I have some plans in place for Glastonbury, but it depends on a friend of mine in Dublin and his availability.

This all also depends on money!!!!

And btw, Hysteria- love the sig. ;)

Seven people asked for the Soundwave date off at my work this year  I know it can be tough and festivals can be expensive (Big Day Out is up to about $130 for one day now! And the line ups are getting more pathetic ) but they're good fun :)

And yay I'm glad I have your approval :D

That's the other thing. Getting days of work in this country for something like a music festival is too difficult. Most people just quit their jobs and get others ones when they come back, which is mental really.

And yes, that's a lot for one day!! A ticket for Oxegen 2009 (three day camping ticket) costs something over €300, which is rather an unfriendly amount. I could pay less to sleep in a bed in a hotel!!!

Wow 300! That would be like... almost $600 where I live :wow:

I went to a couple of music festivals this summer, and seeing as how I am a very lucky person, they managed to fall on probably the two wettest weekends of the summer! Gatecrasher Summer Soundsystem was at the end of May, and The Sanctuary Festival was in August. Despite the weather and the inevitable mudbath both sites turned into, I had a great time at both festivals. I will definitely be doing The Sanctuary Festival again next year. I'm not sure about Gatecrasher. It depends on the line up as it was about £120 for a weekend camping ticket, compared to £45 for a camping ticket for Sanctuary!

Well as mentioned in my first post I went to Soundwave this year (well at that point I was 'planning' on attending) and that is hands down my favourite festival I've been to. Got to meet one of my top 3 favourite bands (Anberlin) as well as see them and other incredible bands play. It wasn't too hot like last year and the line up was just as strong.

Oh and I didn't end up going to Soundwave in 2 states but I did go interstate for the Anberlin sideshow :D

I went to my first one last night. May Madness! It was the best!
I saw Yesterday Chases Tomorrow, and got Lucas, Cody, and Arturo to sigh my shirt. :D They are really good, and Lucas made me laugh with his weird comments. His hand is so soft...it's weird...
I also got Brendy from Vice the Monster to sign it. He spells funny, "Brendy wuz hurr"
And I met Christofer Drew. *swoons*

I had fun
