Which Weasley wizard or witch is your favourite? Try not to choose Ron just because he gets the most time! My personal favourite would have to be George, he's funny and smart, but also strong (having lost his lifelong companion in DH). What's yours? :D

fred and george know you said one but their kind of the same reason being they remind me of my two cousins who are always up to no good even though it always ends in a laugh

I would have to say Arthur. I love how interested he is in Muggles and that he'd rather do a job that he loved with lower pay, than one that payed more but meant less.

I'm pretty boring but I love Ron! He's my favorite of the trio and think he get's a bad wrap sometimes. I love his loyalty and really enjoyed watching in grow through the series. Sure, he's a typical boy and did some idiotic things where Harry and Hermione are involved but he always found his way back and really showed he was worth is weight in the last few books.

For me it's:

1. Ron - the Trio are my favourite collective chracacter
2. Arthur
3. Percy
4. Charlie and Bill
5. Molly
6. Fred and George
7. Ginny

Bill is seriously, seriously cool. :agree:

Charlie is cool too, but too much in the background for me to really feel a connection with.

Having been irritated by Molly for most of the series, I fell in love with her when she killed Bella.

But I think I'd have to say Ron. He is such a typical bloke at times  but he has a good heart and I find him endearing. And he was, when push came to shove, a really good friend to Harry.

I'ts Arthur for me. I just loved his enthusiasm for all things Muggle. He was such a great family man, it was so obvious his family was the most important thing to him. Also, he was prepared to stand up for what he believed.

The order of my favourite Weasleys:

1. Ron- He's the comic relief, who is so much more than Harry's sidekick. To be honest, the books would have been boring to me, if not for Ron:) And besides, you need to appreciate a man who came back the way he did in 'The Silver Doe' chapter. So many people don't like him in that, but I love it:tu:

2. Bill- I'll miss him in the films. He's so cool and I love Fleur and Bill. A great couple, IMO:tu: I also love how he bounces back and works in full strength for the order , after Greyback bites him. He is SO cool:cool:

3.Arthur-He's such a great character with his fascination for muggles and plugs and eckeltricity:lol: Under-used, but great. I love it when he says to Harry in HBP, " Harry, you're talking to the man who raised Fred and George";)

4.Molly- I've always liked her and when she killed Bella, needless to say, I was overjoyed! I also love how affectionate to Harry she is, especially when she hugs him in the hospital wing in the end of GoF. Harry says he had no memory of being hug so tight by anyone, like they were his mother. That scene moved me:)

5. Charlie- I've always wanted to know more about him. Such a cool guy- dragons, quidditch..what more do you want? :eyebrows::p

6.Fred and George- I do like them. Some of their jokes are hilarious, but they sort of annoy me at times.

7. Percy- He's another extremely interesting character. His letter to Ron about 'severing ties' with Harry in OOTP has to be amongst my favourite ever moments in the series:rotfl:

8. Ginny- I've never been a fan of Ginny. Her character was just so..abrupt, IMO.

Molly because of her devotion to family and her maternal feelings for Harry. I think she was the closest he came to experiencing a mother's love and concern. Of course I was so proud of her when she fought Bellatrix and it also made me think about what she may have given up for her family. We don't really know much about her early years and I wonder if she could have been an auror but chose family instead.

I can't choose between them, so I have two favourites: Molly and Arthur.
Arthur because he is so funny, and he's fascinated og muggles the same way I'm fascinated by witches and wizards, and magic in general. And he is brave when it's needed, and a good father.
Molly I like because she seems to me as a great mother, defending her children when necessary, and rising them to be great persons all trying (mostly) to be friendly and kind and polite (especially when their mother is around ;)). Molly is my mother idol! :D

I like Arthur and the Twins.

Arthur because he has his funny moments, and also because he can be very protective of what he loves. He cares about his family a lot, plus he loves muggle junk.

The Twins because they are very smart even though not everyone thought that at first. They added a lighter tone to even the darkest moments.

(Well, Ron's my favorite Weasley, but I know the most about him, so I'll step away from him)

Fred and George never ceased to amuse me. The typical class clowns, but both are very strong in their characters. Like all the Weasleys, they are fiercely loyal and very dependable people. It's just really hard not to love them.

Well, the swamp scene in OotP just about sums up why I love these two so much.

Arthur is my favorite Weasley, and always has been, but Fred is not far behind. He was my favorite of the two twins (I don't think it's fair to think of them as the same person).

I always loved Arthur because of his obsession with Muggles, which I found very funny, but also that he would always do what's right for his family and the people, even when the Ministry became corrupt. My favorite line by him- when he finds out Ron and the twins picked up Harry in the flying car he asks, "Did you really? How did it go?" Molly glares at him, so he says "That was very wrong, boys, very wrong indeed."

Ron is definitely my favourite Weasley. He seems like such a real person. He's funny, easily annoyed, averagely smart, and basically pulls a girl's hair when he likes her. He just seems like the type of person that I would be friends with.

After Ron I like the twins. They are so funny, and clever, and inventive. Plus there's two of them!

I love them all for different reasons too!
Mr. Weasley: He's really nice, and a laid back kind of guy. I also love his fascination with Muggle objects.
Mrs. Weasley: I love how she's such a loving mother character, and how that always means something to Harry.
Bill: He's really cool, and I think it's neat how he was one of the code breakers for Gringotts. He's also very laid back like his father.
Charlie: His job is also very cool, and he just seems like a nice person.
Percy: Well....not exactly my favorite character, but I like how he finally realizes how he was wrong at the end of the series.
Fred and George: The most comical of the family, and I like hearing about all the mischief they get in to, and how they make a career out of it.
Ron: Well, he's always great about Harry being famous, except for a few parts of the series, and just a good friend to Harry.
Ginny: Very self sufficient, and really funny, in her own way. She's also amazing at Quidditch.

I like all the Weasleys (well, maybe not Percy so much), they are a realistic and devoted family. It's fun to imagine being part of the clan in the Burrow. I picture lots of laughter and some teasing, but a group that really pulls together if one of their members is threatened.

But I think I have to agree with those who have chosen Arthur as their favorite. He's an ethical man, a talented wizard and just eccentric enough to be interesting. He seems like a great Dad and a good husband, which can't be easy with all those kids and money problems. Unlike Molly sometimes, he seems to be able to relate to his adult children as adults and I admire that in him as well. Arthur is an all around great Weasley.

I find myself really hating Molly at most times. She's a good mother and all, but her language is very predictable and not in a good way. She is also very disruptive at most times. Although she does have her moments, I have to say she's my least favourite Weasley.

Ginny. She's got nerve, probably more than any of her brothers (Fred and George break school rules; she joins the Battle of the Department of Mysteriesjust, tries to steal Griffindor's sword and keeps the DA alive with the Death Eaters at school). She's cheeky, bold and quite just. I love the way she lectures Harry about Voldemort's possession in OotP and how she takes his leaving her at the end of HBP. Very adult for a girl of 15.

I love all of the Weasleys forever and a day...seriously. (Except Percy. I wish he would just snuff it already and save everyone a lot of grief.)

...I'm in love with Ron & Fred. Simultaneously. I cannot fix this and I cannot ever decide because at different times I feel like I have fallen for one more than the other.

You could argue that Fred is dead and that it would be pointless for me to love him. I say: rip out that page like any ridiculous love bird would and go somewhere and be quiet. =)

Ron & Fred are my favorites, forever. But after them I think it would go like this: George, Bill, Arthur, Ginny, Molly, & Charlie. I hate Percy and I hate Auntie Muriel. :)

Isn't Auntie Muriel a Prewett though? Not that I didn't love her. Speaking of Prewetts, I wish we could have seen the infamous Mafalda Prewett, she sounded fascinating! The daughter of Squib and Muggle, sorted in Slytherin, an intellectual match for Hermione and a mini-Rita Skeeter.

I love her just by her description!

Ronald Weasley... a fragile guy he seems, coming from a poor family and taunted by some of his family and class mates. Plus, he's an average student it appears at first. But, he's a darling friend who does have sweet intelligence no matter how irrational his aspects are at times. In the trio, he's the funniest with silly assertions to sticky situations. Secondly, i favor Fred or George. They're up to inducing the same tantrum on their fascinating ideas of mischief. It's sweet how evasively they were in brittle response from others. Though, they didn't put any indifference to anybody. They've had a specialty of smartness, that are not equivalent to others. They grab what they want with no reflection of other's opinions.

LyraLovegood
February 26th, 2009, 6:51 pm
How could Fred be hotter looking than George when they're identical twins?

The only way would be if he had a better personality (and their personalities seem the same in canon), or if he carries himself differently (more self-confidence, for example).

I guess the way he asks Angelina to the dance in GoF shows that he carries himself with great self-confidence, but we have no way to show that George has any less.

So I still don't get how one could pick Fred over George, except in the case of liking Fred's lines better.

I would have to say that my favorite Weasely is Ginny. She screams woman's empowerment and she is a Quidditch player. She is stepping up and doing it better than the boys I might add. I love Ginny also because she reminds me so much of my friend who kicks butt and takes names.

Ron's definitly my favorite. He's not perfect, he can be jealous, hot-tempered and insecure (well,he's human) but he's also brave and faithful, caring a lot for those he loves. I love him much more since the Silver Doe chapter, and DH in general, he showed himself a worthy companion.

I also love Arthur, his curiosity for muggle things (and the fact that Molly, who's a great mother figure for Harry and a great Bellatrix' killer, is not fond of it ) is a funny aspect of his personality. I really like the fact that he doesn't care about what other people say about it.

Finally, Bill is so cool, Fred and George too, and it's a pity we don't know much more about Charlie.
I also like Percy, he's not that bad, he was taking his job far much too seriously but he finally realized that he was wrong, and that's what matters to me. Auntie Muriel made me laugh with her remark about Xeno Lovegood .

1. the twins - they were just hilarious! I mean, who wouldn't want to be in their class/house at school? And really, when they flew out of Hogwarts on OotP it was just SO. GREAT.
2. Ron - he gets a lot of the comic relief but also a lot development at the same time, which i found to be very well done.
3. Arthur - his obsession with Muggle stuff is very funny, and he's just a good guy.
4. Molly - Ok, in HBP when she was like "Mollywobbles" all embarassed I cracked up. and then when she killed Bellatrix... which was AWESOME.
5. Bill - He's just a cool guy, and seems like a very good brother, especially in DH, which is where we see most of him. And if he could get a Veela he must be something special
6. Charlie - also seems pretty cool, but doesn't get enough page time to be a favorite.
7. Percy - he went from arrogant to awful to awesome. I actually cheered really loudly when he came back at the end of DH. It was just a great moment.
8. Ginny - haven't liked her since HBP, beccause I felt the start of the H/G relationship was a tad too sudden. I felt that she was the only character that was almost a Mary Stu, and call me biased but when she snapped at Hermione (who was the character I related to the most) I just completely disliked her.

Hmm...It's a toss up from Arthur, Molly, or Percy.

Arthur is very supportive and kind, but can hold his own both in a duel and an argument. He's also quite fair at times...a very calming presence most of the time.

Molly is also great because I can imagine how tough it must be to raise so many kids on limited resources-- especially since many of her kids are rambunctious little trouble-makers. Plus, she's very protective and very tough.

Percy is by far my favorite Weasley kid. I was never really as mad at him over his choices in OotP, since his troubles are not only quite understandable, but they were really years in the making. He's probably the only Weasley who really took his studies seriously and always had high goals in mind for his future. I can completely imagine how isolated he must have felt with no kindred spirit among his own family. Obviously, they loved him, but I don't think any of them ever really understood him. And the treatment he got from the twins was really uncalled-for and only contributed to what later happened. I think Percy really got a raw deal sometimes, both from fandom and from other characters.
I really commend Percy for wanting to make something of himself, even if he briefly misplaced his loyalties and forgot that his family are also important. It's an easy mistake for any young man to make, and he learned his lesson. That's what really matters in the end.

Naturally, I can also relate to Percy far more to the other Weasley kids. I'm not the prankster type. I prefer my books. ;)

Fred, no question. I threw DH across the room and stopped reading it for 2 hours when she(JK) killed him off. then I threw again during the epilogue. I digress. Fred just seemed to be the mastermind of all the schemes.

Excellent post. :tu: Despite my instinct to hate Percy, I always try to see his side of the situation, and that was a wonderful insight into how he must have been feeling and what sparked some of his decisions. :D

Favorite Weasley has always been an impossible decision for me; I love them tremendously as a family, and I believe they each have unique qualities that make them wonderful characters individually. :tu:

I see Arthur as a very laid back guy who can keep a level head in any situation. He also has very strong values that he passes on to his children, and he's simply hilarious with his Muggle obsession. :rotfl:

Molly is a wonderful mother, and I can't even imagine how difficult her job of raising seven children must be. Even if she comes across as overbearing at times, you know it's always out of nothing but love for her children and Harry.

Ginny is...feisty. :D She's a pretty cool girl, and I think, as Harry says, having older brothers helped a lot. I respect the way she deals with her brothers, because I can't even handle one older brother nearly as well as she handles six.

Ron, Fred, and George are hilarious, and always able to lighten the mood, no matter what's happening, with a joke. I believe they helped everyone a great deal to get through all the terrible things that happened - both the characters in the story, and the readers.

We don't know much about Bill and Charlie, but they definitely seem like cool guys.

I love the twins--Fred, especially. I like his lines better...when he died, it was one of only about two or three times in the whole book where I really cried. He was just brilliant.

And I also love Ron and Molly, Ron because he's just....Ron. XD Y'know? And I adore Molly, because she's this great mum, willing to do everything possible for her family--and Harry--and I love how she switches between nurturing and scolding the kids--like in COS when Ron and the twins return from the Dursleys' with Harry in tow, and Molly starts screaming, and two minutes later she's sweet as pie to Harry. I love that.

I really like Ginny, but i think the twins are a close second. I always love reading what the twins are up to, but i love that Ginny is the only girl and she definitely holds her own, she's probably even better than half of her brothers. But all in all i enjoy the entire Weasley family, they are a good example of what a good wizarding family should be all about.

I don't know I like them all Ginny is one of my favorites because she's ends up married to Harry and she's silly. But Fred and George are funny, and so is Ron, and Ron is part of the trio and no one can not like Ron and NO ONE can't like the Weasley twins and NO ONE can't like the Weasleys at all. :p

My favorite? The twins, definitely.

They're the only ones who took everything in stride, and remained true to themselves whatever they did.

"Hogsmeade weekend? Cool. We're game."
"Battle for Hogwarts? No problem. Right up our alley."

Sadly, the "Which Weasley character you identify with the most?" would warrant a different answer - I'm so Bill it's sickening. I'd probably end up with Fleur, too... :grumble:

Yeah, I loved his line on Cos (the movie, not the forum!), when he first met Harry. Something about a rubber duck. And he could say it with a straight face! BTW, Julie was made for Molly Weasley's role, she was SO perfect.

Julie and Mark rock as the Weasley p's. (Sorry for the off-topicness)

I believe the line you're looking for is "So, Harry, you must know all about Muggles. Tell me, what exactly is the function of a rubber duck?"
I agree, that line is amazing. I love how he says it so seriously, and the emphasis he puts on "rubber duck" is amazing.

It's a tough one so I'd have to say it's between Molly and Ginny. Molly because she's such a strong, caring woman, a great mother and she really amazed me in the battle at Hogwarts, I mean...that woman can DUAL and Ginny just because, I don't really know why but I adore her.

It depends what mood I'm in. I adore Ron, but sometimes he really gets on my nerves. Ginny's sweet, but gutsy with it, but I wasn't overkeen on her dating other guys when she was obviously still hung up on Harry- it wasn't really fair on them. The twins are great, but I think that sometimes they go a little too far. I actually liked Percy before the whole argument with the rest of the family. Bill is cool, but him falling for Fleur was a bit strange. Charlie I thought was amazing but too involved in his animals, and Arthur and Molly are great, they've brought up a truly mixed family, which is good for all of their children :D

I think the twins,Fred and George are my favorite! I love their sense of humor , their rebelliousness(although, sometimes they take these too far some times), and their hilarious pranks. They turn depressing situations(like George losing his ear) into something to laugh about.
Ron would be second favorite because he seemed to lighten the mood of the book also. He was an authentic character(not saying the others weren't) and his presence really helped the trio stay strong. I only wish he wouldn't have deserted his friends for a period(yeah, i know it was mainly due to the horcrux.)
Ginny and Ron were hard to decide upon in order of favorites. Ginny, I don't know as much about her character as I do with Ron. She seemed brave and kind. However, I wish she would have played a bigger part in the Hogwarts battle. It also would have been cool to see some distinct powers in her being the seventh child.
Both Bill and Charlie are cool decent guys who are willing to stand up to danger.
Molly and Arthur are amazing parents who care greatly about their children.

I know he isn't very popular, but I always have liked Percy. I usually base my preference on characters on how much I can relate to them, and I relate to Percy very well. He is basically the oddball of his family who is very ambitious and studious, which are all qualities I see in myself. Sure he makes a major mistake, but then again, who doesn't? I've done many things I regret, but its the outcome that I find most important, and in the end, Percy realized his wrong and fixed it.

I also enjoy the twins purely for their humorous antics and creations.

I like Ron. The twins would be the obvious choice and I love their humor but my favorite humor moments in the HP series mostly belong to Ron. Ron is my favorite. He's a character I can relate to in a lot of ways and I love his sense of humor and how he held the trio together. I loved how, even though there were ups and downs and they argued, Ron was always there when the chips are down and Harry needed him most. I loved watching Ron grow up and his relationship with Hermione develop from friendship to romance with all the ups and downs there as well - and I really loved it when they finally kissed.

Then I would go with Ginny. I like her sense of humor as well and I love how feisty she is and the fact that she stands up for herself as well as her friends and family. I also liked that she didn't sit around twiddling her thumbs and waiting for Harry to notice her, but instead took Hermione's advice and tried to move on with her life. But I liked it even better when Harry finally did notice her. ;)

Then it would be the twins. I love their sense of fun and how they were able to take something they loved and enjoyed and turn it into a profitable business. I always liked George a bit more - he always struck me as the more sensitive of the two for some reason, but it was a very close margin because he and Fred were so much alike.

And then Molly - she's a combination of everything I love about my mother and my grandmothers. She could be overprotective and stubborn about it, but her love for her family shone through. She took Harry in and loved him as one of her own children and stretched their meager budget to make sure he got Christmas presents - I really admired that. She's tough and I loved how she took Bellatrix down - that was just awesome.

And then Arthur of course. I just love everything about him. He comes across as this completely affable, slightly goofy guy, but there was a lot more to him than that. He didn't back down when it counted.

Bill was not as prominent, but I really liked his character. He showed that you could have brains and still be cool and have an interesting personality. He got 12 OWLs, was a prefect and Head Boy, but he wasn't stuffy or pompous. He was very down to earth and had a good sense of humor.

We don't see much of Charlie and he wasn't as well developed as the rest of the Weasleys, but what we did learn about him, I liked. Prefect - from what Molly says in OOTP - and Quidditch captain, but like Bill, he comes across as very down to earth. He chooses to pursue a career doing something he loves rather than going for the potential fame he could get playing Quidditch. And he knows Hagrid well enough to count the dragon eggs.

Percy was always my least favorite of the Weasleys - even before his horrible behavior in OOTP. I never hated him as a character or anything that extreme, but the way he was always trying to separate himself from his family bothered me. Even in the first book, the twins had to force him to eat dinner with the rest of the family at Christmas and he demonstrated that pompous "I'm better than you" attitude from the beginning. I see what others have said about Percy not fitting in or not being like the rest of his family, but I can't say I agree with that completely. Bill was also smart - and Percy getting 12 OWLs and being made Head Boy was compared to Bill. What Percy lacked was an interesting personality - or any sense of humor. When it came right down to it, Percy was just stuffy and dull and I could never really relate to him as a character like I could with the rest of the Weasleys. But I do like him as a character - just not as much. I liked him best at those times when he forgot himself and wasn't so stuffy and pompous - like when Gryffindor won the Quidditch cup in POA or when he ran out to check on Ron after the second task in GOF. Things like that made me wonder why he put such effort into suppressing any sign of an interesting personality. He would have been so much more likable if he hadn't done that. But I was really happy when he showed up at Hogwarts in DH and admitted how wrong he had been and made amends with his family. And his reaction to Fred's death was heartbreaking - right after they'd made up. :(

Up until DH, apart from ron it would have to be fred and george for their all round personality. However, when Molly killed bellatrix she then became my favourite (not that i didnt like her before). Bill.

Dependent, considerate, trustworthy, trusting and brave. He's a responsible son and a good brother as seen when he takes Ron in after he abandons Harry and Hermione. Of all the Weasley's he seems to be the most popular between the siblings and I liked the reason why. He's just simply cool... and kind.

I always thought his rock star appearance was a little misleading. He's such a down to earth bloke and his behviour at times when at the Burrow and Shell Cottage suggest to me a bit of a family man lurking underneath.

Now this is a reallllly tough question. I'd probably say Ginny, but Fred and George are hillarious!

Ginny is one of my favorite characters. She's funny and sensible!

Fred and George filled the series with humor and without them, a lot of the scenes in OotP would have been pointless (I love when they leave hogwarts right in front of Umbridge! She's the worst!)

Ron is my upmost favorite because I just love his personality and humour throughout the series. Especially whenever he gets mad, I think his temper is ridiculous. It always makes me smile.

My second favorite would have to be Percy. There's just something about his pompousness that makes me laugh everytime he sees Harry. The way he shakes Harry's hand makes me imagine that he is already Minister of Magic by the time. Even though Percy had some misleading thoughts about Harry back when Harry was fifth year, I still think Percy is a really good person, pompous as he is!

And of course, who could ever forget the Weasley twins? I love them so much! They helped Harry in so many ways, from giving him the Marauder's Map, to fighting for him at the last battle. I love their humor and their cheeriness! I've never read about them being sad or anything, it's amazing!

Last, my fourth favorite would have to be Arthur. I love that he's just so obsessed with Muggles and is fascinated by even the smallest thing, like a rubber duck or parking meters. I would love to meet him and tell him all about computers -- to see his expression would be unforgettable! :D

I'm going to rank the Weasley's with my opinions...

Ron is my favorites because he's loyal, brave, funny and a good friend. He may have some faults, but when it came down to it, he was always there when Harry and Hermione needed him most.

Bill is my second favorite. Being the oldest Weasley, Bill didn't really have it easy. He had to set a good example for his younger siblings. Bill's also a very cool guy and he was head boy and is probably pretty smart since he's a curse-breaker for Gringotts. Bill sacrificed himself in battle and got mauled by Greyback but he didn't let that get him down. Bill's just an all-around cool guy.

Arthur is my third favorite. Arthur is a strong family man. Even though he gets a lot of slack for his job, he loves doing what he does. Arthur loves his children and knows when they are old enough to fight when Molly would prefer them not to.

George comes after Arthur. I've always loved George a bit more than Fred in the series. George was just as funny as his twin, but he seemed to be more of the quite one and he was serious when he had to be. He seemed to have more of a respect for the law than Fred did (he was afraid of sending those letters to Bagman in GOF saying that it was blackmail). He also had to face life after he lost his twin brother and anyone that suffers that lose has to be strong.

Fred is after George. Fred, out of the two twins, is the loud, outspoken one of the two. He brought laughter to people in times when they needed it most. You could tell how close he was to his twin (particuarly when he was so worried about George when he had his ear cut off in DH) and he fought in the final battle, risking himself and ultimitly and sadly dying for the light side. Fred was a brave wizard and helped bring the end to Voldemort.

Molly comes after the twins. She is the mother of the series and has always treated Harry like one of her children. In GOF Harry notes when Molly hugged him, that's the first time he can remember being hugged by a mother. Molly loved all of her children dearly, even when they were being stupid (she still loved Percy even though he left the family for a while). And I have to say, you don't mess with her children!

Ginny is next after Molly. Ginny probably had a tough time growing up with all boys. She was probably left out of a lot of stuff that her brothers did when they were all growing up. Ginny started out school as a shy, timid, first-year and grew into a confident, head-strong teenager. Ginny isn't afraid to stand up for what she wants (and she's got a mean bat-bogey hex!)

Charlie is far down the list just because we don't know him as well as the others. Charlie, however, does seem like a great older brother. He really does seem to care for his younger siblings and he was concerned for Harry when he was in the Triwizard Tournament. Charlie also fights dragons and was one of the best seekers Gryffindor had ever had. He seems to be a pretty cool guy!

Percy is my least favorite of the Weasleys. Although, I have to admit, I liked him a lot better in DH when he came back to the family after he realized how wrong he was. Percy is very ambitious and knows what he wants. But he's also very loyal to whichever side he's on.

Ahh, it's tough to pick just one!

I don't dislike any of them but I think my favorite would have to be the twins. And of them, I always had a particular passion for Fred (though I doubt I'd be able to tell them apart before George got his ear blown off XD). I don't even really know why I was more drawn to him, but his quotes had a tendancy to literally make me laugh out loud while I was reading. I was so upset when he died, :(

In the movies my favourite Weasley would definitly be Arthur! He's hilarious , and was extremely well cast IMO! :)

In the books it would probably be Ginny! She's a cool cat ;)

(I also found Auntie Muriel soooooooo funny )

Hmmm... Personally, I would choose someone like Bill or the twins (they're inseperable ). Bill is just... cool (as described in GOF :D), and the twins are really funny :D

I didn't like Percy until the very end when he was joking with Fred, and I felt his anger at the death eaters for what they did to his family. In order, here are my favorite Weasleys:

1. The twins (they can't be thought of as two seperate people to me)- Fred and George were the life of the party and made the books funny
2. Ginny- I think she was one of the most sensible people in the story and her charachter was fun and happy!
3. Ron- He was just a great person and it's hard to imagine the story without him. If it weren't for him, Harry might have died too. I also enjoyed his sense of humor... it was a lot like mine.
4. Mrs. Weasley- Even though she was strict, she made me laugh and was the most loving character in the book next to Dumbledore and Harry.
5. Mr. Weasley- His irresposibility and love for muggles is was made me enjoy his character
6. Bill- I was happy with the fact that he ended up with Fleur and he always added a support.
7. Percy- He might have been uptight and a hardworker, but I can relate to his anger in a way and he did the right thing in the end and came back to his family.
8. Charlie- Sorry charlie, your character was brave and exciting, but I didn't know you well.

Each Weasley added their own sense of humor to the book and they always made me chuckle. Harry Potter without this loving family would be another world to me (even though it already is).

I second that, but I wouldn't say that she was my favourite.

The think the [main] Weasley family was really well written and protrayed in the book. They're a loving family, with their own issues which even muggle families face - money. There's the basic dysfunction which all families have: the 'Percies' and the 'troublesomes'.

From the way JK has written the characters, it's sort of difficult to hate any of them (inclding Percy, though he's just a temporary douch) but trying to pick a favourite is difficult.

I can't say favourite, but the ones I like the most are the twins and probably Charlie. He seems like a ladies man  and the long hair and tatoos and working with dragons has a heavy "rebel" sign written on his forhead. :tu:

Agreed

However my favourit would have to be Molly closefuly followed by Ginny
Molly - because she is the first person that Harry considered to be a mother to him, she always seems to have a solution for all situations, caring, thoughtful, fair and if her anyone hurts her children they have no hope

Ginny - well she is just brilant, the silent but deadly type

Ginny - well she is just brilant, the silent but deadly type Like the fart? :rotfl:

I also agree with what you said about Molly. I usually prefer characters that make me laugh or have an oddity to them (eg Mr Weasley) but Mrs Weasey is a very warm hearted person, you can actually fell some of the warmth when reading the book, and also some of that guilt Harry feels at times.

With Ginny, she didn't really make a good first impression on me, but later in the books she got better.

Ron, hands down favourite! :)

But more than individual Weasleys I like their group dynamic. Such as moments when they're all making fun of Percy.

Another favourite moment: Mr. Weasley's reaction to the flying Ford Anglia in CoS "Really, you did? How did it go?.............I mean, that was very wrong boys, very wrong indeed."

Ron.
I relate him to the most. He seems the most real to me. I understand where he's coming from with his issues like his insecurity. We get to watch him mature. He's a loyal friend who just needed to figure himself out. We watch Harry grow, but I think we see Ron grow the most and that's fun to watch. He's always got the best lines as well, especially in books six and seven. I'd post some here, but I don't have the books handy and I don't feel like searching... but let's just say the trio's not hunting down Voldemort in a mobile library. His sense of humor is so much like him.

I like Ginny best, I think she was smart and quite attractive, I was surprised it took Harry five years to notice her and fall in love with her, she was a talented witch, the way she fought death eaters in Ootp, Hbp and Dh proved that, I think Ginny was brave and daring too, which is natural seeing that she's a Gryffindor, I liked her when she insisted on going to save Sirius with Harry and when she sneaked in the Hogwarts' battle and went to fight with the others.
Fred and George Imo are impossible not to like, their jokes are just irresistable, they turned stress into fun which was sometimes quite necessary like when the chamber of secrets was opened.
As for the rest of the Weasleys, they were all good to the core, -I think it was comforting to Harry that he knew such a great wizarding family-, even Percy turned out to be loyal, brave and even funny, he couldnt help doing the right thing in the end, if anything was impossible to believe in the series it was Percy's behavioure in the final battle, he crossed all his lines, (i.e joking and fighting his boss  ).

Fred and George are my favorite Weasleys. We do not know about Charlie and Bill that much, some, but not much. Percy is just annoying in my book. Ron...he annoys me more than Percy. I cannot stand people who turn their back at their friends when that friends needs them. And he has done this, last time in DH. Even when he came back and saved Harry. If I were Harry, I wouldn't be able to trust him. But this is not a Ron = headache thread. Ginny, well she is cool in the later books, she's okay. Molly is funny and a bit scary. I like her. Arthur is funny too and I like him. But Fred and George, they are pranksters, fun to be around with and loyal to boot.

I completely disagree with you on this one, I think Ron showed his loyalty to Harry so many times, and I also think Harry has abandoned Ron many times, just not as clearly and STTP as Ron did. Harry at one point abandoned everyone around him, and no matter how many times Ron left Harry physically, i believe Harry left him way more times emotionally.

Anyway, back to the point.
I think Ginny is my favorite Weasley, she's an incredibly strong character. She comforts a stranger, when her own brother was just found dead. Voldemort posseses her in her first year at Hogwarts only, but she got over it and went passed it, as apose to some students that could have never returned or done incredibly wrong things with the attention that went with the occasion. She's strong and independent. She just sort of does her thing and doesn't get bothered by stupid little happenings that most girls of her age would. I think that shows great personality!

It was so nice seeing him reunite with his family finally, sans Fred's untimely death. And he even told a joke! :tu:That's one of my favourite scenes! I instantly loved Percy in that moment.

I'd have to say my favourite Weasley is Ginny- she started out in the shadows and as a "follower" but she grew into a very independent person. I love that by Half-Blood Prince she doesn't take **** (why is this censored? it's not a bad word.....) from anyone, and I would have loved to see more of her, Neville, and Luna rebelling in Deathly Hallows.

I've noticed that a common opinion among readers is that her jump to Miss Popularity was too sudden/undeveloped, but I think it makes a lot of sense. With the books being from Harry's perspective, he wouldn't have noticed this character shift much in PoA through OotP, so the sudden realization about how popular she is in HBP would come as a surprise to him, and by extension the reader.

And I'm also a big Ron fan.

First is definitely Fred ang George! They are hilarious, and I think it's really cool how they stood up to Umbridge on OotP. Also, I think it's really cool how they have their on store.

Second, is Mrs. Weasley. She's is the most amazing mother in HP, what with having 7 children, and losing one of them. She doesn't even care when Bill gets bit by Greyback. And of course, it was amazing when she dueled Bellatrix like that!

Other than Ron and the twins, I did like Percy. I really thought it was funny in GoF when he got a job at the Ministry and saw Barty Crouch at the World Cup and he calls him a different last name, LOL. I thought it was funny how Percy carried himself because he was a prefect and then Head Boy.

I'd have to say my favorite Weasley is Mr. Weasley. Although the twins are really funny, I just love when he talks about sayings that muggles have and most of the time they don't make sense. He also is like a father to Harry and Ive always found that very touching...I'm glad that J.K. Rowling decided not to kill him off seeing as she had originally wrote it like that but she immediately started sobbing for over a half hour and decided she couldn't do it and changed it back

This is a very tough question. I love them all, except for Percy, although his reconciliation with his family lowers the dislike a little.

Regardless, my favorite would be Mr. Weasley. He loves his family more than anything, but his love also stretches to those who aren't, like Harry and Hermione. He's an honest guy, not caring for money or petty objects, instead doing what he loves. He also must be pretty tough, for surviving a vicious attack by Nagini, despite Snape dying in minutes (granted, they must have been different kinds of attacks, but still, Arthur is tough).

He also says one of my favorite Harry Potter quotes ever, when Mrs. Weasley asks him what his dearest ambition is, and he replies, "To find out how airplanes stay up."

I love the Weasley family as a whole--they all work so well together, except for Percy (and I have a feeling that changed post-DH). I hate to have to pick a favorite, but I'm going to have to say Ron and Ginny are my favorites, not because they get more face time in the books, but because I can usually relate to the two of them better than the rest. Yes, Fred and George are always good for a laugh, but I relate to Ginny's whole thing with Harry (liking him for ages and him not realizing it) and Ron's issue with having friends that are more popular/smarter/etc. than him. They're both just so real for me.

Mr. and Mrs. Weasly. I love Mr. Weasly's personality, his love for muggles, and his love for his family. Mrs. Weasly is the mother i've always wanted in so many ways, and I think she's just a great character, and a very much believable mother.

Also: Fred and George, or should I say Gred and Feorge. They obviously have a great sense of humor, and common who doesn't love 'em?

First of all, I read a few pages of the thread and I love how different everybody's answers are - how every member of the family has fans, and for so many different reasons.

My personal favourite is Molly. She represents not just the significance of unselfish, motherly figures and of putting your family before yourself, but the strength of character and integrity it actually takes to truly be one of those people. Plus, after the "NOT MY DAUGHTER -" line, it's very hard not to love her.

I really like Molly as well, between her and Arthur they are basically Harrys 2nd parents, actually they could just be considered Harrys parents because of the way they take him in as if he was one of their own.

Fred. I don't know why I prefer him over George, but I do. Both of the twins are brilliant, they're so devil-may-care and unique, not afraid to stand out at all, not afraid to ruffle a few feathers. They're not just one-dimensional pranksters though, they also have a more serious, loyal, protective side which I love.

I love all of the Weasleys for different reasons:

Mr. Weasely (Arthur): [/COLOR]His facination with Muggle tecnology is hystarical.
Mrs. Weasely (Molly): A sweet and kind mother (and mother figure). Loves Harry like a son. But when she's angry watch out! "FRED.....GEORGE......!"
Bill: Got some interesting wolfish qualities after being attacked by Greyback.
Charlie: Don't hear much about him, really. He works with dragons, thats pretty neat.
Percy: Every family has their black sheep. But he does love his family and came back to them when they really needed him.
Fred: A funny, quick witted, laugh-a-minute jokster.
George: Idenical to his twin in more than looks, but he's got to be pretty strong too, as he looses his life partner when Fred dies in The DH.
Ron: Not as strong and brave as Harry, not as smart and witty as Hermione, but a realiable and interesting sidekick.
Ginny: Let's just say that having six older brothers certainly turns you in to a stong and independant young woman who can do things for yourself!

I was hopping that would help me make up my mind! Oh well.

I have to say Ron and Ginny. I love his loyalty, his humor that truly lights up the books, his constant bickering with Hermione which always amuses me and the great chemistry he shares with her and Harry. Gosh dang, this one is hard. My favorite could be Ron, because he's stuck with Harry through and through (even with that minor set-back when he left, but he also came back). He's best friends with Harry and has always been, not because he's the Boy-Who-Lived, but because he's just Harry. We've grown up so much with Ron, who is one of the main characters, and it's hard for me to say what I don't like about him, except that he didn't tell Hermione how he feels earlier (but I do love the kiss, so I shouldn't really say that. :D). He's a bit temperamental at times, but he's also caring, adorable, funny, and the best friend Harry could have.
THEN, the twins. Fred & George. There isn't a reason NOT to like them. They pretty much lighten up the mood any time, even when George loses his ear. They are hilarious, brave, cunning, and hilarious.
I love Bill for some reason. Well, there are reasons, like how he is brave, caring, and cool. And he's gorgeous in looks, so he's the one I swoon for. But I think he and Fleur make a great couple.
And lastly, I really love Arthur & Molly. They both care for Harry like he was their own son and risk their lives to protect him and their family, and anyone, actually. They're just so caring it's heart-warming. They're great parents and just great people in general.
wow...this whole thing is just so cheesy. hahaha
I love the Weasleys. :D

Fred and George Weasley are my all time favorite characters. They are hilarious! I don't know how some people can pick one over the other, because in my opinion, the Weasley twins are like Lay's potato chips. You can't have just one.

"The Ministry's providing us with cars," said Mr. Weasley.
Everyone looked up at him.
"Why?" said Percy curiously.
"It's because of you, Perce," said George seriously. "And there'll be little flags on the hood, with HB on them -"
"- for Humongous Bighead," said Fred.

Good thinking. Think that might be my choice as well. But if we're just going by the books (and not counting the last chapter) I have to say that in the books it's the twins. In the movies it's Ron though. His funny side outweights his grumpy side by far. Arthur deserves a mention as well.
