Reader

Congrats everyone, you all did a great job!

So here is how the member voting goes:

Just pick your favourite entry. You may vote for yourself, but it's more sportive to vote for someone else ;)

Judge the entries on the lyrics first and foremost.
The video's are an added bonus, but remember that due to technical abilities or problems with equipment not everyone was able to make a video themselves or sing their own song.

Take your time before you vote to watch all entries.

Comments are welcome!

Voting ends: Midnight May 9th-May 10th PST - timezone converter (http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc)

Afterwards the winner(s) will be revealed in due course. Hopefully everyone can understand that due to the number of entries, the results will not be revealed straight after the poll closes.

If a video/song doesn't work let us know and we will fix it.

(The song is based off of "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" by U2.)

Yes...

I can't abide the least delay
Fluffy close your eyes, and I'll be on my way
How long...
How long must I sing this song?
How long? How long...

'Cause tonight...I must have that Stone!
Tonight...

Hidden in chambers under children’s feet
The Philosopher’s Stone is really neat
But I don’t need a battle call
It brings the Dark Lord back
Brings the Dark Lord back to rule them all

Someday, Voldie, someday
Someday, Voldie, someday
Someday, Voldie, someday (Someday, Voldie, someday...)
(All right let’s go!)

My Lord’s plan has just begun
His body’s lost, but he’ll soon have another one
His reign will be a work of art
And Muggles, Order, Dumbles, Potter torn apart!

Someday, Voldie, someday
Someday, Voldie, someday

How long...
How long must I sing this song?
How long? How long...

‘Cause tonight...I must have that Stone
Tonight...
Tonight...

Someday, Voldie, someday (tonight)
Tonight
Someday, Voldie, someday (tonight)
(I'll get the Stone!)

Soon Lord Voldemort will rise
He’ll rise again today
He shall rise today
I’ve the will and the way
(Someday, Voldie, someday)
I love his blood red eyes
(Someday, Voldie, someday)

Someday, Voldie, someday (Someday, Voldie, someday)
Someday, Voldie, someday (Someday, Voldie, someday)
(Here I come!)

I think this beast likes my tune
He’s fast asleep and snoring heavily
And today the Mudbloods cry
With the Dark Lord back they’ll be next to die

His real battle yet begun (Someday, Voldie, someday)
To rid himself of the “Chosen One” (Someday, Voldie, someday)
Oh…

Someday, Voldie, someday
Someday, Voldie, someday…

(To the tune of Flightless bird, American Mouth by Iron and Wine)

Now close your three pairs of eyes
Lay your heads gently down
Quiet your menacing growls
Listen to my lullaby,
There on the dusty floor
Lies a secret trapdoor
That I must enter through
To stop the man I abhor

Chorus:
Have I lulled you
Fluffy Boy
Calming, snoring
Are you asleep?
Precious pup
Peacefully, dreaming

Safe through the Devil’s Snare
More charms lie up ahead
Caught a winged key in air
Played against live chessmen,
The with the troll on the floor
Made it to my next chore
Stepped through black burning flames
To save the stone of ancient lore

Chorus:
Have I lulled you
Fluffy Boy
Calming, snoring
Are you asleep?
Precious pup
Peacefully, dreaming

In front of the Erised glass
Seeing the stone Quirrell yearned
Removing his turban for help
My scar intensely burned,
Soon as I touched his skin
I heard a deafening roar
Mother’s blood saved again
Voldemort’s gone once more

Chorus:
Have I lulled you
Fluffy Boy
Calming, snoring
Are you asleep?
Precious pup
Peacefully, dreaming

Everyday
Nothing is possible for you to say
You're just a doggy
And then if I may
I'll call you Fluffy now for everything
I need the thing you guard in every way
The Philosopher's Stone
And as my mind begins to spread its wings
It's time to leave you, sleepin' 'cuz of me

I'm gonna turn this stone thing round and round
I'll find the things they say just can't be found
Make myself immortal purely just for fun
I'll get my gold and then when I am done
The stone with Dumbledore will stay

You might think
Voldemort will come because of me
You'd stay to guard the one so precious thing
It's time to leave you, sleepin' 'cuz of me

I'm gonna turn this stone thing round and round
I'll find the things they say just can't be found
Make myself immortal purely just for fun
I'll get my gold and then when I am done
The stone with Dumbledore will stay...

At Hogwarts there is a dog
Hagrid named him Fluffy
A more unsuitable name
There sure could never be
Three heads he has on him
And fearsome claws to match
And if you ever meet him
Just pray you’re not his catch

He stands there on the trap door
That leads down to the Stone
And if you want to get past him
He’ll soon gnaw on your bones
That did not however
Deter our young heroes
Harry, Ron, Hermione
They’re known as the Trio

One dark night down they went
A flute their lone weapon
They played this song to him
Soon Fluff was nodding on
The Trio then slid past him
Intent on their mission
Many tasks they got through
That taxed their brain and brawn
There was a magic game of chess
That left our brave Trio bereft and Ronald-less
Yes they braved many dangers
That would really raise your hairs
But courage always prevails
And the Stone soon became theirs
And now my song is done
It’s time for celebration!

If only I can get through this

I gotta get through this
I gotta get through this
I gotta make it, gotta make it, gotta make it through
Said I'm gonna get through this
Im gonna get through this
I gotta take my, take my mind off you

Give me just a second and I'll be alright
Surely one more moment couldn't break my heart
Give me 'til tomorrow then I'll be okay
Just another day and then I'll hold you tight

your love is pouring like the rain
I close my eyes and its gone again
When will I get the chance to say I love you
I pretend that you're already mine
and my heart ain't breaking every time
I look into your eyes

If only I could get through this
If only I could get through this
If only I could get through this

Sing to the tune of Frank Sinatra's FLY ME TO THE MOON
(Original score, music and words written and composed by Bart Howard)
Sheet Music (http://forpiano.com/FILEX/frank_sinatra--fly_me_to_the_moon.pdf)

Fly me on a broom,
Let me play... above the Pitch.
Let me see what it feels like to...
catch me the Snitch.
In other words...Hold on tight
In other words...Fluff, don't bite me!

Fill his dreams with song,
let Fluffy dream as I move-along.
The Stone is what I long for...
Because...I'm rotten to-the-core!
In other words...Please, be cooooool!
In other words...In other woooords...
Fluffy, please don't droooool...

Tonight. Tonight
Won't be just any night.
Tonight there will be no morning star.
Tonight. Tonight.
I'll see my love tonight
And for us, stars will stop where they are

Today
The minutes seem like hours...
The hours go so slowly
And still the sky is light.
Oh, moon, grow bright
And make this endless day
Endless night. Tonight.

Tonight, tonight
Will be adventure night
Tonight we will battle for the Stone
Tonight, tonight
We’ll pass Fluffy tonight
When he wakes, what he guards will be gone

Today
All day we went on planning
The three of us together
We came up with a scheme
With wands in hand
Through the trapdoor we’re going
And we’ll win. Tonight

And here’s my version…(sung as if by Voldemort)

The Philosopher’s Stone is a thing much desired.
But a wizard must sing to make guard-dog feel tired.

Look at me now,
Will I ever learn?
I don’t know how,
But I want the immortal life –
It is my one greatest strife!

Just one song and he’ll be snoozing at last,
One more song and I’ll be able to pass,
Whooah-ooah!

Fluffy, Fluffy, won’t you fall asleep?
My, my!
How can I sedate you?
Fluffy, Fluffy, please now go to sleep,
My, my!
Oh! how much I hate you!

Yes! The idea has thrilled me,
Since the day Potter killed me!
Why, why, did that little brat survive?

Fluffy, Fluffy, please get out my way!
My, my, I’ll get my body back today!

I was angry and sad when I was ripped from my body,
And my followers’ work has been nothing but shoddy!

And when I’m back,
When I’m whole again,
They’ll get the sack,
But I want the immortal life –
It is my one greatest strife!

Just one song and he’ll be dozing away,
One more song and I’ll be able to play,
Whooah-ooah!

Fluffy, Fluffy, won’t you fall asleep?
My, my!
How can I sedate you?
Fluffy, Fluffy, please now go to sleep,
My, my!
Oh! how much I hate you!

Yes! The idea has thrilled me,
Since the day Potter killed me!
Why, why, did that little brat survive?

Fluffy, Fluffy, please now let me pass!
My, my!
How I want that stone so!
Fluffy, Fluffy, won’t you let me pass?
My, my!
Yes, I want that stone so!

Fluffy, Fluffy, won’t you fall asleep?
My, my!
How can I sedate you?
Fluffy, Fluffy, please now go to sleep,
My, my!
Oh! how much I hate you!

Yes! I’ve been quite crest-fallen,
Since all my powers were stolen!
Why, why, didn’t little Potter die?

Fluffy, Fluffy, please get out my way!
My, my, I’ll get my body back today!

Oh, Fluffy, my three-headed doggy,
I am singing to lull you to sleep.
I’m just waiting until you’re unconscious,
Then past you on tiptoe I’ll creep.

I hope that you won’t mind me saying
You’re a bit of an ugly old brute,
A hideous, triplicate mongrel,
Though Hagrid, of course, thinks you’re cute.

You’ve six eyes and six ears and three faces,
Three noses, as well, (if you please!)
And presumably three lots of bogeys
Fly out of their ends when you sneeze.

Three mouths could prove quite a health hazard –
I’m sure I’ll be poisoned to death,
When out of your three gaping cakeholes
Come three lots of smelly bad breath.

But worse are your three sets of gnashers.
Believe me, I’m not very bright,
But even to me it seems patent
That your bark isn’t worse than your bite.

I confess it’s because of my greed, boy,
(A weakness to which I am prone)
That I’m trying to get through this trapdoor
To steal The Philosopher’s Stone.

It’s a wonderfully brilliant invention,
The brainchild of old Nick Flamel.
He has reached the ripe age of six hundred,
And, with luck, one day I will, as well.

But - alas! - I am not without rivals
In my quest to get hold of the Stone.
They’re hot on the trail of this object,
They simply can’t leave it alone.

There’s that funny Professor of DADA -
The students must s******, I fear,
At his tics and his quirks and his stammer,
And turbans are oh, so last year.

But Quirrell has got quite a problem –
A man whom we all thought was dead,
That darkest of wizards, Tom Riddle,
Sticking out of the back of his head.

And then there’s that pesky kid, Potter,
With Weasley and Granger in tow,
The latter as bright as a button,
A regular armchair Poirot.

So if I’m to get it before them,
I’m sorry, I really must fly.
So for now it’s sweet dreams, boy, night-nightie,
Auf wiedersehen, so long, goodbye.

[There y’ are,] good Fluffy
Right there on the trap door
Watchful forever more
You’re so good my Fluffy
But you have this weakness
That’ll be my ‘portunity
To get through, through the floor

I’m singing you to sleep, good Fluffy
So do close your eyes,
Make yourself comfy
So comfy, oh so sleepy
Oh Fluffy, sleep, Fluffy
So I can pass the trap door
On my way to the Stone
Don’t wake up till I’m done
Don’t wake up till I’m done

Hush little Fluffy, don’t you bark
Harry will give you a treacle tart

And when that little tart you eat
A little music will put you to sleep

And while you sleep the night away,
Our little Trio will be on their way

And on that bumpy way so far from home
Many obstacles they shall overcome

Devil’s Snare, flying keys, living chess pieces
Riddles, sacrifices, many hits and misses

At the end of that hard road they will
Face a more fearsome danger still.

Against the Dark Lord himself Harry will stand
But it’s Quirrell who will burn his hands

At the end, though, all will be well
That's why they’re here now to tell the tale

Now lis’en to me my Fluffy
I wan’ ya to do sumthin’ fo’ me
Lie on top of this trap door
Don’t let anyone pass,
Professor, student, bonny lass
Not anyone ‘xcept Dumbledore
And those I showed you afore
On’y they can cross the trapdoor
Don’t let anyone else in at all, no one else at all,
Nobody else can pass, hear me?

So said Hagrid, Keeper of the Keys
Trusting on his ever faithful Fluffy
But he could not foresee ever
Our three heroes none could deter
Harry and his two good friends
One night stealthily they went
Soon Fluffy began to slumber
A magic spell he was under
Music he couldn’t resist came over
From a harp hanging in the air, the air

They defeated the Devil’s Snare
Caught the key, gave the chessmen a scare
They solved riddles, went through fire
Endured the Dark Lord’s ire
Then Harry beat Voldemort/Quirrell
Thanks to his mother’s love spell
The Philosopher Stone he secured
Because his intent was pure
Thus they achieved a great victory
And that’s the end of this story, hear ye!

Fluffy
We maybe loony
Under this full moon
But it’ll be over soon.

Fluffy
It’s time to fall asleep,
While we creep,
We hope we never again meet.

Fluffy
Close your eyes,
As we sneak on by,
There’s nothing to spy.

Fluffy
Just listen to this melodic tone,
And we’ll leave you alone,
While we go and save the stone.

(repeat the last line 3x)

Well I heard there was a secret chord
That Hagrid played and it made Fluffy snore
But you don’t really understand, let me tell you
Well you can play a harp, or a guitar
As long as you play it with some heart
Then you’d be able to get through the trap door

Through the Trapdoor
Through the Trapdoor
Through the Trapdoor
Through the Trapdoor

Well you felt so brave until you walked
Into the room on the third floor
And saw that giant beast staring at you
He had three heads and barked aloud
You quickly rummaged through your sack
Pulled out your flute and played a tune to get through

Through the Trapdoor
Through the Trapdoor
Through the Trapdoor
Through the Trapdoor

You closed your eyes and prayed it worked
Then heard nothing and had a look
The dog was lying down and fast asleep
You magically enchanted the flute to
Continuously play that enchanting tune
So you could get the Philosopher’s Stone that was through

Through the Trapdoor
Through the Trapdoor
Through the Trapdoor
Through the Trapdoor

(This years’ ‘Oscar-Winning’ song will surely put him/her to sleep. Is Fluffy a he or a she? Yes think about it after all that’s what will get you through the trap door. Right, I have to sing him/her a song to put him/her to sleep. Ok, here I go.

Jai Ho from ‘Slumdog Millionaire’

Oh-O...Oh-O!

Fluffy, Fluffy, be a dear, and let us through,
We have lots of things in common with the, heady you.

Oh-O…Oh-O!

Fluffy, Fluffy, you justify every plaudit, you get,
So let us through the trap-door and take a deserved rest.

Oh-O…Oh-O!

Fluffffyyyyyy- Fluffffeeee ….Fluffffyyyyy- Fluffffeeee ….…Flufffyyyy-Fluffffeeee… Flufffyyyy-Fluffffeeee…

(Fluffy starts to growl and I gulp and take a step back. Oops, wrong song! Ok, here I go again. Hotel California by the Eagles. The guitar plays for 2 minutes and 8 seconds and Fluffy is almost asleep. Good! I begin again..)

Fluffy, you are a great dog,
Could you help us, out of this bind,
On the other side of the trap door,
Lies a stone, one of a kind.

I promise, you lots of cookies,
And all the meat, I can conjure,
Will even to talk Professor Hagrid,
To help you with your Lady Love, for sure.

As I stand on the threshold, that is door-way,
Singing this poem solely for you,
And I think,
I could help save the World once again,
If you would only, let me through.

So Fluffy, have a good leisure time,
And, do have an afternoon catnap,
Dream about the wonderful time,
You won’t have, if you wake up with a snap.

(Fluffy starts to growl again. My, is he/she hyperactive today. Maybe, Professor Hagrid fed Fluffy with too many chocolates. He/She is sure acting like a person on sugar-high, only it’s menacing teeth makes it ten times worse. Ok, change of plans (Should work for IBM). Numb from Linkin Park)

Every little thing that I want you, to feel,
Feeling very senseless and summoned to be a carcass,
I know, am pulling a lot of emotional sap,
But under the pressure, of getting, to the stone.

Listen to my musical undertone,
Just, listen to my undertone.

Am feeling pretty helpless,
So,you better help me, very soon!

Listen to my musical undertone,
Just, listen to my undertone.

I, have become, so nervous,
Am shaking here,
Please be so kind,
There’s not much more, I can take,
I will be indebted to you,
For my entire life,
If you could, just this once,
Please, give me a little break.

(Hey, I said the magic word. No, it didn’t work for Harry with Dudley and it is certainly not working for me with Fluffy. Maybe he likes *rap err..rap. Ok, here goes nothing. ‘Lose Yourself’ by Eminem.)

What am I to do, to think, is so pre programmed,
Still confused, to me it helped or harmed.
But now that I know, I stand alarmed,
Against the thoughts, I shall retort, I am armed!

I'm tired, I am the kink,
Here I am standing on the brink,
Do I jump or do I stumble,
Or does it even matter I think I fumble.

Do I go back home, is it worth it,
Or may be I like this place and I like this dingy pit.
Now is the time I should give up, I should quit,
Forever breathe this sickening heat or just brood and sit.

Came that smile like sadistic rain in a drowning flood,
And that mocking laughter gushed my blood.
I knelt on the gritty floor with a roaring thud,
The way I'm thinking is just not me, its so absurd!

Come Fluffy! Lets playfully fight,
I will hand wrestle you and revenge my plight,
In that shall lie my masochist pride,
Cuz sitting and brooding and letting things happen just doesn't come in my stride...!

(Hmm, it’s still not working. Maybe, Fluffy is hypnotized by my attractiveness. If that’s the case then Fluffy, most definitely won’t be the first. Ok, what about 'Faint’ by Linkin Park)

I came,
With lot of brashness,
A little bit of disregard,
To the rules that govern this tournament,
That magic folks call Triwizard.

I came,
I will do whatever you want,
And I want you to believe,
Because, no matter what you make me do,
I assure you, that it will be a big relieve.

So,
I bend on my knees and ask you,
Cos’ turning the back, is not a thing to do,
Whether you accept this request or not,
This is the only shot, I have got.

I can’t fail,
To get through this task,
Don’t let it happen to me,
I can’t, take this all.

I won’t fail,
Because you know what,
There’s a stubborn side in me,
That will stand out, mighty high and tall.

(I have strained my throat and Fluffy is as awake as ever. I close my eyes and say a quite prayer. When I open my eyes, I find Fluffy asleep. I had forgotten to turn-off the music in the background, which was playing the instrumental track ‘Latika’s Theme’. Who knew that an instrumental song would put the mighty dog to sleep! So much for the lyrics, I slaved over…..Or maybe just maybe, it was just the choice of songs.)

Looks like it'll be long night,
dealing with a three-headed dog.
I'm blocking out its growls,
getting over the initial shock.

Gotta go through the backdoor,
save the Philosopher's Stone
and time is running out.

Hagrid said "To calm him down
would be nothing but a piece of cake."
Luckily, he got this right
or else we'll become it's prey

Harry Potter played the flute.
I wanna rock out this tune.
Hope he is not a Beatles fan.

Fluffy, ooh
Three drooling mouths with yellow fangs.
Let me sooth your beasty soul
while you dream and take a nap.

We’re pressed for time.
Nothing feels like it did before.
Whether we lose House points
doesn’t matter anymore.

That bloody thief must be stop!
McGonagall doesn’t budge
and Dumbledore’s not around.

Gotta go through the trapdoor,
save the Philosopher’s Stone.
Hopefully he will doze out.

Fluffy, ooh
Three drooling mouths with yellow fangs.
Let me sooth your beasty soul
while you dream and take a nap.

Looks like it'll be long night,
starting with a three-headed dog.
But once I played this out loud,
he should be sleeping like a rock.

Harry Potter played the flute.
I wanna rock out this tune.
Hope he is not a Beatles fan
and starts to dance around.

Soon he ... (Sleep Fluffy!)
will pass out ... (Sleep Fluffy!)
Those who snooze don't bite (Sleep Fluffy!)
and it'll be alright.

This is a lullaby
To put you to sleep Fluffy
Rest your three heads by
That nice little trapdoor, aye
This little lullaby
I wrote especially for you
‘Cause I have to pass you by
There’s something that I must do

The Philosopher’s Stone lies down there
Protected in so many ways
Ay, ay, ay, ay
But I’ll pass you like the air
You won’t even know I’m there
Er, er, er, er

My fearsome Fluffy
Please go on sleeping
I can’t let Voldy
Get his hands on that thing
That thing is the Stone
The Philosopher’s Stone
Eternal life it grants
That’s what he so much wants

Oh what a task we’ve taken on
Will we three ever get through
Ooh, ooh, ooh ooh
But with my friends Ron and Hermion’
We are so sure to overcome
All obstacles

Albus Dumbledore
With his faithful staff and all
Made passing that door
A challenge to try the soul
That immense challenge
We’ll soon put behind us
Many count on us
And we will not fail them
And we will not fail them
And we will not fail them
And we will not fail them
And we will not fail them…

I have this Sorcerer’s Stone belonging to me
It makes me oh so powerful
No one could e’er beat me
Death itself can’t touch me
I can live forever more
Time just flows around me
Like waves lapping at the shore

Guard the door well, Fluffy, Fluffy
Guard the door well, Fluffy, Fluffy
Guard the door well, Fluffy, Fluffy
We have to save the Stone

For now I have decided
To put an end to this
But before I can be rested
I have to be at peace
I have to make good’n sure
No one will misuse it
Only one whose soul is pure
Can put his hands on it

Guard the door well, Fluffy, Fluffy
Guard the door well, Fluffy, Fluffy
Guard the door well, Fluffy, Fluffy
We have to save the Stone

Singing starts at 1.35.

The situation is at follows: finding out that Quirrell's singing is horrible, Voldemort decides to bring Fluffy to sleep himself and express his long-repressed feelings about Harry.

Potter, Harry Potter,
Just a baby, the easiest job of my whole life!
How could everything turn out at last so bad?
How could I be thus defeated by a child?

Potter, Harry Potter,
it's a nightmare seeing you every day in class...
so alive, so healthy, with that stupid smile
while I'm half the skull of this slave of mine.

Oh, I'm fed up with this Quirrell
and the unicorns half-bled;
smell of garlic, herds of centaurs,
and the stuttering all day.

What a painful humiliation,
I'm You-Know-Who, the Dark Lord!
But the text books say you vanquished me,
you stinky Potter boy.

Wait for me!
Wait that I have the Stone!
My body back,
my powers whole, then...

Potter, Harry Potter,
you and I will have a talk about revenge.
I'll explain you what it means with all detail...
if this Fluffy dog just gets out of the way!

When I look into your six Brown eyes,
I realise, I am very scared,
You terrorise with your voice
Fluffy dog, scary dog!

You’re not a flower bending in the breeze,
Paws in front, baring teeth,
You snarl at me with loud and angry growls,
Stay away from me, Fluffy dog!

Other people could get scared of you
I’m scared even though I’ve a flute
For you have the strength to tear
My hair on my head!

I can hear the sound of fear in me,
As you step, very near,
Please let me go to the Stone,
While you sway to my song.

Fluffy! Make me
Help me! Let me!
Twisting and falling
Trough the trap door you guard!

Fluffy!
Let me!

Others may come and ask you the same,
Don’t let them into the trap,
You have the magic to stop,
All of them as we speak!
As we speak!

I can hear the sound of fear in me,
As you step very near
Please let me go to the Stone,
While you sway to my song
Please let me go to the Stone,
While you sway to my song.

Please let me go to the Stone,
While you sway to my song.

Let me!
Let me!
Let me Now!

Lay down your triple slobbering heads
The trio's coming with an evil plot to end
Fluffy, sleep, as you let Quirrel through before
Let Ron and Hermione and Harry through that old trap door

Why do you snarl? What is this drool upon your face?
Soon you will sleep; all of your rage will pass away
Safe through the door, the trio is coming

What will they see beyond the trap door?
What is this, Devil’s Snare?
The flying keys, the giant chess game
A sleeping troll, already knocked out

A logic game, with potions and poisons
The mirror of Erised, The Philosopher’s Stone!

Hopes fade if Voldemort returns
Death Eaters rising, the wizard’s world will burn
Don’t say The Boy Who Lived has come now to his end
Quirrel can’t touch him; his reflection’s got it planned!

The Philosopher’s stone in his hand
Just grinning

What will they see beneath the trap door?
What is this, Devil’s Snare?
The flying keys, the giant chess game
A sleeping troll, already knocked out

A logic game, with potions and poisons
The mirror of Erised, The Philosopher’s Stone!

Let the trio pass Through the Trap Door!

Fluffy, it's time,
You've earned your keep.
You've been a fabulous guard;
Now you can sleep
And start to dream.

Guarding the Stone
Is quite a task.
Fluffy, you're such a good dog;
Lay down and bask
In happy dreams,
Now start to dream.

I need to get
The Sorcerer's Stone--
Not for Lord Voldemort, no, I want it for my own.
Please be a good dog now, Fluffy, let me through the door.
Lay down your heads
And start to snore.

With Flammel's Stone,
I'll soon be rich
And that would make a most pleasant
And welcome switch!
This is my dream,
My sweetest dream--
I'm a rich witch!

Fluffy, it's time,
Have a good snooze.
You must fall victim to my
Melodic ruse.
Now start to dream
Your favorite dream...
Don't drool on my shoes.

Hey
I'm your life
I'm the one who takes you there
Hey
I'm your life
I'm the one who cares
They
They betray
I'm your only true friend now
They
They'll betray
I'm forever there

I'm your dream, make you real
I'm your eyes when you must steal
I'm your pain when you can't feel
Sad but true

I'm your dream, mind astray
I'm your eyes while you're away
I'm your pain while you repay
You know it's sad but true

Yeah
Want that Stone
Live forever with that Stone
Yeah
Want that Stone
Gonna make it mine

Whoa
A big dog
And it's got three heads too
Whoa
Real big dog
Please please don't eat me

Fluffy boy, hear my appeal
I don't want to be your meal
This is a nasty ordeal
Too much drool!

Shake your heads, sure can spray
Why won't you just obey?
My nerves are starting to fray
Just way too much drool!

I sit by the trapdoor
The Stone calls to me
I must make this dog snore
Or I'm history

You're a ferocious dog Fluffy
standing in the way
I am a gallant witch Fluffy,
a dragon's egg has found me the way to calm you
now if you'll just go to sleep

You're heads are on the ground
You're eyelids are drooping
I will climb down
The trapdoor I'll open

You're a ferocious dog Fluffy
standing in the way
I am a gallant witch Fluffy,
a dragon's egg has found me the way to calm you
now if you'll just go to sleep

You're a ferocious dog Fluffy
standing in the way
I am a gallant witch Fluffy,
a dragon's egg has found me the way to calm you

Take me out of the con-test.
I'm em-barr-assed to sing.
Mention the Stone and the Fluffy guard.
Why did they have to make it so hard?

It's a fright, fright, fright
to write lyr-ics.
If I don't win, I'm to blame.
For it's 1 now 2 weeks I've stalled
at this cra-zy game.

Fluffy, the three-headed dog,
Lived happily
In the third floor corridor,
At Hogwarts School he be.

Hagrid the half-giant
Loved that Fluffy dog
And sung him songs aplenty
To cease his snarling growl.

Chorus:

Fluffy, the three-headed dog,
Lived happily
In the third floor corridor,
At Hogwarts School he be.

Fluffy, the three-headed dog,
Lived happily
In the third floor corridor,
At Hogwarts School he be.

Fluffy came to Hagrid
From a German peddler,
Hagrid kept him close to home,
‘Til he lent him to Dumbledore

To, guard the Sorcerer’s Stone,
From the threat of Voldemort.
No one knew Fluffy’s secret
Save Hagrid and Dumbledore.

Chorus

But, one night came Quirinus Quirrell,
Followed by Harry Potter
Both knew how to put Fluffy asleep
To save themselves from slaughter.

From the first note of the flute,
Fluffy’s loud growls ceased.
His six eyes began to droop
Before he fell asleep.

After the Stone was destroyed,
Fluffy left the corridor
To romp around the forest,
Where none could hear his roar.

Now Fluffy is back
To guard another stone,
But he’s now obsolete
Because I sing this song.

Chorus

Ron and Hermione and I ran along
Toward the end of the dark corridor.
Trying to hide from Old Norris and Filch
And got much more than we bargained for.
Yes, we’ve wandered much further down here than we should
But we’ve got to find out what is under that wood.

Chorus:
So, sleep now, won’t you please, we’ve got to get
Through the trap door to the Sorcerer’s Stone
You’d be surprised all the tests we’ll get through:
Ron will help us win at chess
Hermione will solve all the clues
I’ll find my way to the Sorcerer’s Stone right past you.

Quirrell, the fool, didn’t know what to do
How to safely pass Fluffy the dog
He went to Hagrid for help and advice
And the two shared some gallons of grog.
That’s when Hagrid let slip, “All you need is a song.
Just play Fluffy some notes and you cannot go wrong.”

Growls are cutting through the air
They’re kind of scary – I hope I don’t mess up
I really want to do this right and get
Through the trap doooor
Years of patience, weeks of planning
Soon I will achieve my goal
Regaining my full strength

I don’t want to be eaten, ohhhh
I just need Fluffy to sleep
I just need Fluffy to sleep
I just need Fluffy to sleep
I just need Fluffy to sleep

Shining golden orbs are hovering
Above my covered head
They start to flicker shut so I can slip
Through the trap doooor
Unicorn blood doesn’t work
So now I have to get Fluffy
To sleep so I can make my way
Through the trap doooor

I don’t want to be eaten, ohhhh
I just need Fluffy to sleep
I just need Fluffy to sleep
I just need Fluffy to sleep
I just need Fluffy to sleep

So now I need to get the stone
Philosopher or sorcerer; it doesn’t matter
What you call it, it’s the same thing:
I think I’ve done it; he’s asleep so now I creep across the floor-
eww his breath stinks, now I continue on
Through the trap doooor

I don’t want to be eaten, ohhhh
I just need Fluffy to sleep
I just need Fluffy to sleep
I just need Fluffy to sleep
I just need Fluffy to sleep
I don’t want to be eaten
I don’t want to be eaten

Fluffy big
I need you to sleep
I want to come through the trapdoor
Fluffy big
I need you to sleep
I want to come through the trapdoor
So said the Professor
Called stuttering Quirrel
His intentions were bad and evil.

Fluffy beast
You shall go to sleep
I’m going down through the trapdoor
Fluffy beast
You shall go to sleep
I’m going down through the trapdoor
In the back of Quirrel’s head
Was evil Voldemort
The Stone he was out to get.

Fluffy there
You must go to sleep
I need to come through the trapdoor
Fluffy there
You must go to sleep
I need to come through the trapdoor
One more Professor came
He was Snape the brave
The double agent to the rescue.

Fluffy kind
We need you to sleep
We have to come through the trapdoor
Fluffy kind
We need you to sleep
We have to come through the trapdoor
The Trio pleaded so
“Oh, sweet Fluffy let us go
To save the Stone from the evil.”

Fluffy good
So long he slept
While five went down through the trapdoor
Fluffy good
So long he slept
While five went down through the trapdoor
Two evil came through first
One kind did not pass through
But three to defeat the evil.

Fluffy dear
You must move your paw
I have to come through the trapdoor
Fluffy dear
You must move your paw
I have to come through the trapdoor
It was the Headmaster
He came to save the tree
Too late, the evil was gone.

Fluffy sweet
Can you please go to sleep
My path goes down through the trapdoor
Fluffy sweet
Can you please go to sleep
My path goes down through the trapdoor
It was a young woman
Sweet Fluffy let her in
Down there she found all of her friends.

Verse 1
Here comes the sandman. Close your eyes
Rest your head. Play dead.
Start to snore. Just ignore the hardcore Gryffindor
Tugging at the trapdoor by your feet.
Go to sleep. Count sheep to beat. (breathe)
Don’t try to fight it because you can’t deny it.
I know you can’t hide it when I see your sagging eyelids.
Post hoc, gonna unplug your alarm clock.
Put on my sneakin shoes and pilfer that magic rock.
So hold my microphone and loan me that Philosopher’s Stone,
I’m gonna take it back home and strengthen my bones.
Gonna level up my hp. Increase my longevity,
And put an end to my brevity. So next time you see me
I guarantee I’ll be doing death defying feats
And making it look easy.
So don’t do me like a zero. Take a trip like Little Nemo.
I’m on fire like Nero. Antihero not a bad man.
Just a motivated American. Got the right tools like batman,
And a beat by pelicaine. Hard Charger’s the nom de plume
That I use for my tunes.
Major airplay on all the little kiddies ipods and zunes.
Mad rhymes in the room to get you high like fumes.
But don’t look now Fluffy puppy because the sandman’s in the queue.

Verse 2
Nod off yo Fluffy the Three-Headed Dog
I tell you to sleep so that we can grab the stone and then we'll be off
You know that Hagrid gave us the trick to go and give you the slip
Cerberus flea ridden is up in our way, but I ain't gonna trip
Spit some magical rap gonna slip past this trap
To get back down the track slam the Darklord back
In fact you really ain't that scary for a giant pooch
And in a few minutes you'll be able to hit the snooze
If you choose, I know you're dreamin' about runnin' around
Instead of bein' stuck down here in this tunnel just like a clown
I found that all my words carry a certain potency
To soothe the savage beast to get the eyelids droppin' so they can't see
So get to sleepin' punch the clock get off the overtime
Lay your head on down and get started up with the beddy-by
The Loki man, Hogwarts rapper nerdiest extraordinaire
Got this dog nodding off and his snorin' fills up the air
Droppin' on the beat, yo this here's the chorus see
Hardcharger and the one and only MC_Loki
I beat up microphones and leave them cryin' for their mamas
Just like this big ol' pooch snorin' on for hours and hours
Droppin' on the beat, yo this here's the chorus see
But it's time that I stop hitting up the button to repeat
You see, it's time again for Charger to spit some raps
Hey Charger, why dontcha show this beasty where you be at?

Verse 3
Now Fluffy take pause, rest your head on your paws.
MC Loki on my left he’s a B-36 dropping bars like bombs
Like the boy with the scar dropping spells on the head
Of the dark wizard you dread. That’s right,
Voldemort get clowned and mobbed
Cause me and Loki got the aplomb to finish the job.
And that Stone is the tool that we need for our fuel.
So while you’re snoozing in your drool, I’m breaking every rule.
This is my strategy, scheme and plot and I gave it more thought
Than John Locke cooking up a big pot of Enlightenment stew.
My aim is true and I’m turning the screws
Putting pressure on the villains with my remarkable brews.
My wand like a laser going pew, pew, pew make a bang, bang, bang.
Putting Death Eaters on a one-way pain train to Failure Land.
Take them straight to Azkaban while I’m chillin on the Caspian in Azerbaijan.
PSA to all the bad guys, I see through you like Mad Eye.
Skills so hot that they burn you like lye.
Burn villains like Quirrel without an epidural.
My rhymes are like a neural toxin in their brains.
Gonna drive them insane cause I’m irate like John McCain.
I’ve got the battle plan against the Death Eater clan.
I’ll chew them up raisin bran and spit them out in the Sudan
So just close your eyes now doggy and succumb to the sandman

Harry needs the Sorcerer's Stone...
the Sorcerer's Stone...
the Sorcerer's Stone...
Harry needs the Sorcerer's Stone...
but he needs to get past Fluffy...

How does he go and do that...
do that...
do that...
How does he go and do that...
with help from Ron and Hermione...

Now they go and get a flute...
get a flute...
get a flute...
Now they go and get a flute...
to soothe the savage Fluffy...

Harry starts to play the flute...
play the flute...
play the flute...
Harry starts to play the flute...
and Fluffy starts to slumber...

Now they can go and get the stone...
get the stone...
get the stone...
Now they can go and get the stone...
since Fluffy's sound asleep...

Have a nice sleep Fluffy
Lay down you are so sleepy
See you are yawning
For sweet dreams you are craving

Have a nice sleep Fluffy
Close your eyes and breathe calmly
Think about a good meal
Please don't care about the chill

Do you remember
The precious stone you protected so fiercely
Na na na na
That Harry Potter
Finally saved from that evil enemy
Na na na na

Have a nice sleep Fluffy

Three heads are better than one
Just ask Hagrid
Putting them all to sleep is little fun
But now its bedtime
Time to rest your eyes

Your dinner left you stuffy
Your tired out being a toughie
Your eyes are feeling puffy
There’s no reason to be huffy

Sleep fluffy sleep
Sleep fluffy

Rock, rock a bye baby
If your claw slips
Its okay maybe
If you slobber, don’t worry
Ron will keep you clean

Your dinner left you stuffy
Your tired out being a toughie
Your eyes are feeling puffy
There’s no reason to be huffy

Sleep fluffy sleep
Sleep fluffy

Turn out the lights
Shut the door and start to snore
Sweet dreams
Of things you did today
Close your eyes
And free your mind of robbers and thieves
We’ll spin them round and round and round
We won’t let them leave

We won’t let them take
Let them take
The Sorcerer’s Stone

Fluffy please go to sleep
‘cause you’re really quite beat
We will give you a treat
If you just go to sleep

If you let us go through
We will get the stone too
Then Voldy we´ll beat
Which´ll really be neat

We will get past plant
And do a happy dance
Then we´ll come to the keys
Which Harry will seize

The Troll it will smell
And the chess set as well
Then the potions will freeze
past the fire with ease

Oh, it's Slytherin time again, soon you'll be sleeping
I can see that far away look in your eyes
And already one of your heads's snoring, Fluffy
So it won't be long before it's Slytherin time

Dumby claims that love is magic of all strongest (strongest)
Spells and potions not the way great wizard goes
But he gets the last laugh he who lives the longest (longest)
So I'll filch the Sorcerer Stone under his nose

Oh, it's Slytherin time again, soon you'll be sleeping
I can see that far away look in your eyes
And with two of your heads softly snoring, Fluffy
No it won't be long before it's Slytherin time

I brought Hagrid magic egg and got him talking (talking)
So he told me everything that lies in store
And as sure as Snape will hex Iggy for stalking (stalking)
You will fall asleep and I'll walk through that door

Oh, it's Slytherin time again, you're finally sleeping
I just saw that far away look in your eyes
And with all three heads now softly snoring, Fluffy
Trap door opens and I know it's Slytherin time

The door opens and it's finally Slytherin time

Hello Fluffy, we brought you a bone
Must be boring to guard Flamel’s stone
We’ve come to entertain you
so you won’t be alone

Oh, poor doggy your days must be long,
Listen now to your own special song
It’s time for a little break now,
Just rest, there’s nothing wrong!

Now let’s count little fluffy white sheep
One, two, three, see how nicely they leap
Four, five, six, seven
There’s a good doggy - fast asleep!

Note from the maker: I played this on a real Ocarina, not a recorder or anything. Real life Ocarina. It had a triforce on it and everything.

Lyrics: (To be sung as if improvised on the spur of the moment as you slowly cross the room and descend through the trapdoor. If you have friends with you, try it as a duet or the ever popular trio.)

Gentle dog, sleepy one,
Close your eyes and let sleep come.
Rest your head upon the floor,
Please ignore the open trapdoor.

Dear little Fluffy, three-headed puppy,
Forget to guard the philosophers stone.

Gentle dog, sleepy one,
Close your eyes and let sleep come,
Dream of eating lot of bones,
Awaken later when I am long gone.

I see you sitting
On that trapdoor
three headed Fluffy
will drool some more
ooon, oon, on Ron
I tried walking past you,
but with no such luck
I see the harp
is still playing
thank merlin for that charm
I know the stone
is beyond that trapdoor
I'll run right past you this time
Now the door is open, hop right in,
Devils Snare
Don't Panic, it'll kill you Ron
Hermione's here and
she'll cast some spells
get past the keys, logic and chess
Voldemort may be ahead of us
But I have the stone in my pocket.

Hagrid's pet, Fluffy.
I'd like to turn my back and flee,
But I gotta get through that door.
Fluffy, snore!

Severus Snape, that git.
Sorc'rer's Stone--he's after it.
I'll get it first and keep it safe for
Dumbledore.

Hermione and Ron have helped me get to
The Mirror of Erised, but I'm not sure what to do.

Professor Quirrell, it's you!
I cannot believe it's true!
What your turban did conceal--
It's unreal!

Vold A, Vold B, Vold C, Vold D, Vold EEEEEE!

We all thought that you were dead not on the back of Quirrel's head.
That must be why he always reeked totally of gaaaaarliiiiiic!

Voldemort, you're through!
I'll keep the Stone away from you.
You'll be Vapormort once again.
Harry wins!

Harr A, Harr B, Harr C, Harr D, HarrYYYYYY!

Sing to the tune of the traditional American lullaby, "All the Pretty Little Horses"

Hush-you-by.
Don't you whine.
Go to sleepy little Fluffy.
When you wake,
you shall have
all the pretty little horses.

Thestrals and Aethonans,
Abraxans and Granians,
sliced with hypogriffy gravy.
Thestrals and Aethonans,
Abraxans and Granians;
all the yummy flying horses.

Hush-y-poo.
Don't you drool.
Go to sleepy little Fluffy.
When you wake,
you'll have rock cake
and all the pretty little children.

Potter you'll mangle,
Weasley with Grainger;
you'll just love those little children.
Potter you'll mangle,
Weasley with Grainger;
yummy, tasty little children.
____
* Please note that I've tried to keep the horse colors, as represented in "Fantastic Beasts", in the order of the original lyric. Of course, a palimino is not dappled but might be called brown. A chestnut is not quite the same as a bay, but I've done the best I can with the available options. Also, the kids are almost in order of hair color (black [omit grey] brown and bay, reversed) . That was an accident!

Fluffy, good doggie
Go to sleep oh my Fluffy
Fluffy, don’t you see
We have to slip by ye

The Stone, that great Stone
Lies beneath that trapdoor, see?
His friends and Harry
Have to keep it from Voldy

So sleep, good Fluffy
Listen to that lullaby
Don’t wake, nice doggie
Not until we have passed by

We will get the Stone
We’ll thwart the Dark Lord once more
And when that is done
Things will be good as before

Who let the Troll in?
(Who, who, who, who, who)
(who, who, who, who, who)
who, who, who, who, who)

Who let the Troll in? (Who, who, who, who, who)
Who let Troll in? (Who, who, who, who, who)
(Who, who, who, who, who)

The students were frightened. The teachers were worried. (My evil plan)
The troll was roaming the halls. (Big, dumb &ugly)
I see Fluffy and I start singin’(singin this song.)
Then he’s closin’ his eyes.

Don’t wake the dogs up (woof, woof, woof, woof, woof)
Don’t wake the dogs up (woof, woof, woof, woof, woof )
Don’t wake the dogs up (woof, woof, woof, woof, woof)
Don’t wake the dogs up (woof, woof, woof, woof, woof )

I see my chance, I can’t fail now.
I think it’s safe to go in now.
Stay asleep Fluffy, good puppy.
Let me steal the philosopher’s stone.

(woof, woof, woof, woof, woof)
(woof, woof, woof, woof, woof)

The entrance is clear now, hey that was easy. (No yappin’ dogs)
Walk to the door, must be quiet. (good little dogs)
I Tell myself “Hey keep on singin’.” (don’t wake the dogs)
The stone ahead, the dogs behind. (good bye dogs.)

Stealing the stone (stone, stone, stone, stone, stone)
Stealing the stone (stone, stone, stone, stone, stone)
Stealing the stone (stone, stone, stone, stone, stone)
Stealing the stone (stone, stone, stone, stone, stone)

The doggie is nothing if he goes to sleep.
Oh doggie stay asleep, oh doggie sleep.
The doggie is nothing if he goes to sleep.
Oh doggie stay asleep, oh doggie sleep.

[fieldset=Sweet Dreams Fluffy]

The life you once had was so perfect, so free
You romped through the forest, your heart full of glee
But they needed your help to guard some stupid stone
So they shut you in here and you sit all alone
No one could be happy here, no wonder you're mad
You're just misunderstood, doesn't mean that you're bad
They feed you and all, but it's just not enough
What you really need is some good puppy love.

Sweet dreams Fluffy, your bedtime is here
You'd better let someone in or you'll be stuck here all year
It can't be fun to live here, you'd rather run and play
Just take a nap, there's nothing better to do anyway
So shut your eyes, fold your paws, nod your heads,
Sleep where you sit, that dusty floor for a bed
Just sleep, let me pass, and the Stone'll soon be gone
And you will once more see the light of day dawn.

Giggly little children wander in the night
Interrupting your sleep, they shriek at the sight of your
teeth and your heads and your eyes open wide as you
try to decide which to bite and they run and they
hide in their beds and they think of your heads as they
dream in their sleep but they keep waking you up. They
creep through the school in the dark just to break all the
rules and here you serve your time all day and all night

Sweet dreams Fluffy, your bedtime is here
You'd better let someone in or you'll be stuck here all year
It can't be fun to live here, you'd rather run and play
Just take a nap, there's nothing better to do anyway
So shut your eyes, fold your paws, nod your heads,
Sleep where you sit, that dusty floor for a bed
Just sleep, let me pass, and the Stone'll soon be gone
And you will once more see the light of day dawn.

Sweet dreams Fluffy, your bedtime is here
You'd better let someone in or you'll be stuck here all year
It can't be fun to live here, you'd rather run and play
So take a nap and let me in and soon you will be seeing brighter days
Soon you will be seeing brighter days
Soon you will be seeing brighter days
Soon you will be seeing brighter days
Here's hoping you'll be seeing brighter days.

Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and the witch, Hermione.
Severus Snape, down the trapdoor, got to follow him.

The stone’s not safe, Professor M., Snape will steal it, you must stop him
How do you know?, Hagrid told us, that loquacious fool.

Dumbledore, not here, Ministry, business trip
Oh no, this is a trick, watch out Snape is right behind you.

What will we do?, stop him, get the stone before him
Three-headed dog, challenges, we will face them all

CHORUS
We didn't fight old Fluffy
He was simply sleeping
As we came a sneaking
We didn't fight old Fluffy
No we didn't fight it
We just kept real quiet

Hagrid speaks up, dragon’s egg, stranger in the Hog’s Head
Let it slip out, now Snape knows it, Fluffy’s weakness

Read books, wooden flute, time to go now, come on
Grab your wand and get your father’s cloak

Neville, don’t go, you’ll get us into trouble
Sorry Neville, wave a wand, say a quick spell, moving on

Fourth floor, forbidden, sneak in softly, Fluffy
Play the flute, Fluffy sleeps, jumping through the floor

CHORUS
We didn't fight old Fluffy
He was simply sleeping
As we came a sneaking
We didn't fight old Fluffy
No we didn't fight it
We just kept real quiet

Falling down, Hit the ground, What is that there?, Devil’s Snare
Choking, Hermione, Are you a witch or not?

Moving on, Flying keys, Look, silver, broken wing
Grab the key, check the lock, come let’s see what is inside

Giant chess board, white, black, can’t pass it, we must play
Take your place, Ron leads, white moves first so let’s go

E4, move the piece, Ron is facing down the Queen
The Queen attacks, checkmate, Ron is knocked unconscious.

CHORUS
We didn't fight old Fluffy
He was simply sleeping
As we came a sneaking
We didn't fight old Fluffy
No we didn't fight it
We just kept real quiet

Past the troll, Fire, It’s a logic puzzle
Poison, Potion, Only one can pass through

Harry is now moving on, there’s a man who’s standing there
Quirrell, Not Snape, Mirror of Erised

Tied up, Quirrell asks, How do I get the stone out?
Reaching up, turban off, Holy #@!% it’s Voldemort!

CHORUS
We didn't fight old Fluffy
He was simply sleeping
As we came a sneaking
We didn't fight old Fluffy
No we didn't fight it
We just kept real quiet

Scar burning, So much pain, can’t escape now, trapped again
Pale-face, snake-like, nostril slits, red-eyed
Speaking, hissing, “The boy lies”, Tell the truth or you’ll die
Looking through the Erised, “What do you see?” Voldy said

Quidditch House cup , “No you lie”, Harry looks hard, Where’s the stone?
Sees himself, holding it, Wink, Smile, In pocket
Quirrell leaps out to attack, Harry fights him off with love
Voldemort flees once again, Harry wins and that’s the end!

CHORUS
We didn't fight old Fluffy
He was simply sleeping
As we came a sneaking
We didn't fight old Fluffy
No we didn't fight it
But when we are gone
Will he still sleep on, and on, and on, and on...

We didn't fight old Fluffy
He was simply sleeping
As we came a sneaking
We didn't fight old Fluffy
No we didn't fight it
We just kept real quiet

We didn't fight old Fluffy
He was simply sleeping
As we came a sneaking
We didn't fight old Fluffy
No we didn't fight it
We just kept real quiet

We didn't fight old Fluffy
He was simply sleeping
As we came a sneaking
We didn't fight old Fluffy
No we didn't fight it
We just kept real quiet

rockabye fluffy and don't kill me
Cuz I can sing better than Harry Potty
I can't think of any lyrics but he couldn't think of any at all
so let me pass through and don't kill me
I want to go through to the devil's snare
and the wing room and the chessboard too
I can't sing but harry played flute
and i have a violin too
let me through?

Fluffy's Song
Lullaby and good night
Sweet dreams I hope find you
Do not dream of scary things
Peaceful thoughts come to you.

Fluffy dog, three-headed beast
Let the trio pass by you
They’ve some tasks to undertake
The Wizarding World is at stake.
Harry will win the day
When in his pocket he finds
The valuable Sorcerer’s Stone
Thanks to the Mirror.

Your eyes are closed, your breath is heavy
Deep sleep sure has found you
Ron will sacrifice himself
Hermione will find the potions

Heads of House, Hogwarts School
Put up the roadblocks
Devil’s Snare, flying keys,
And the chess board set
Riddled potions to move and
Three-Headed beast guarding the door
Who is now fast asleep
Not doing his job.

Lullaby and good night
Good night!

I am just glad I have a head phone jack on my speakers, so I can listen this weekend instead of having to wait until Monday.
I actually think it might be more honest if the results were private until after the voting. That way no ones vote is going to be influenced by the other voters.

Everyone did such a great job. Some are serious, some are funny, but almost all show that a lot of effort went into it.

I thought by voting blocks, WWB meant rounds or categories, not organized groups to vote for someone. It would be nice to be able to vote as categories: funniest, best fitting the tune, best fitting the theme, most unusual, etc. I was hoping we'd get to "score" each one in several categories or something: 1-5 on originality, 1-5 on how words fit the tune, 1-5 on how words fit the theme, 1-5 on video (the extra points available for doing a video), etc. Then add up all the points from everyone to get the winner(s). Ah, well. :sigh:

I'm having to make notes on all of them to keep them straight and it'll be awhile before I vote. How so many have already made up their minds, I don't know.

Thanks to everyone who put in so much time and effort: both mods and contestants. These were great to watch. Back to reading/listening/note-taking. :D

Everything is soooo awesome, but I'm having some sort of technical issue with the last four entries(44-45). I can't get the sound to play on any of them. If I go back up the list, I get sound back, so I know it's not my laptop that's flipped out. Does this make any sense?

Anyway, I wish we could slowly narrow this down, instead of having 45 wonderful entries and three lousy ones (jk) dumped in our laps and having to pick one. I would like to vote for at least twelve of these, but I suppose I'll have to pick the one that made me laugh out loud most. Actually, there were only about half a dozen that I liked so much I let them play to the end, full of wonderment. I would love to cast a vote for everyone who was brave enough to actually record their own voice, even a-capella for some; bravo.

But, if we can only vote for one, we can only vote for one. *sigh*

I had the same problem. Just close your browser and reopen the website again to continue. It worked for me. Good luck.

Yeah Den, that is what I was thinking of - or at least rounds so we could pick more than one. There are a lot of good ones.

Okay, I have written a full (long) critique of the whole list. I'm not sure if I should post it here, though, as some of my comments are Simon-Cowell-level cruel. Well, maybe not as crushingly cruel as the real Simon, but they would probably break or at least bend the CoS forum rules on "how to have a pleasant conversation on any topic." ;)

FleurduJardin
May 2nd, 2009, 8:26 pm
Aaaaargh, I had written this long post, and then when I clicked on post, the thread had been closed! :grumble: Fortunately, I had saved my post.

It's impossible for me for the moment to vote, there are too many good ones, and I'm not going to vote for myself, so, more viewing, note-taking and personal grading in store. :sigh:

I'm having fun, though, trying to guess who did what, and I think I guessed right for about three or four people (one, I recognized the voice from the Holiday Calendar entry ;) ), not counting of course a couple of songs whose author I already knew.

So, for the moment, I'm going to address some technical questions.

For #4, please follow the link to the video, since I can't figure out how to embed it.
I had no trouble watching the video by clicking on the link. It's worth the effort, that one is really good (and no, it's not mine, so I say this in all objectivity.)

Sorry I forgot to ask an Admin to switch on html :grumble:

Hope when they do, that will solve the problem! I really think # 4 is one of the best efforts, and putting the lyrics just under the appropriate picture, with the appropriate stretch of music, is the next best thing to singing it oneself like some people did.

On # 16, I've had YouTube do that to me once, muting the sound, which is very annoying. The thing to do next time, Author of # 16, is go to another video-hosting site. I transferred my muted YouTube videos to Vimeo. Just for info and later reference. :)

On # 48, it seems to me that the word "Stone" isn't in the lyrics, and that was one of the requirements, wasn't it? Unless I missed it, my eyesight wasn't too clear after looking through 47 other sets of lyrics, but if one of the requirement isn't fulfilled, isn't that a problem? :hmm:

I thought by voting blocks, WWB meant rounds or categories, not organized groups to vote for someone. It would be nice to be able to vote as categories: funniest, best fitting the tune, best fitting the theme, most unusual, etc. I was hoping we'd get to "score" each one in several categories or something: 1-5 on originality, 1-5 on how words fit the tune, 1-5 on how words fit the theme, 1-5 on video (the extra points available for doing a video), etc. Then add up all the points from everyone to get the winner(s). Ah, well. :sigh:
Yes, I'd have liked to be able to do that too. Because I like several songs, but for different reasons. Most original, most exotic, best-fitting, best synchronization, best choice of pictures, funniest, zaniest, cutest, most poetic, etc.

Can't we at least vote for, say 5, in order of preference? Or just our five favourites? :hmm:

Lyra, we'd all be interested to see your critique. May I suggest though that you put it between expansion tabs? :)

I'll look at the 49th entry later, have to run now.

LyraLovegood
May 2nd, 2009, 8:38 pm
You're right, #48 doesn't have the word "Stone" actually in it. I'm afraid I'm going to have to cry "foul," as the moderater to whom I sent my entry insisted that I put the word "Fluffy" in my song somewhere, though it didn't have it as I originally had it written. Just descriptive terms of it. I thought it scroggled the lyrical flow of my song a bit to force the word "Fluffy" into it, but I did it to meet the requirements of the contest.

Too bad, as #48 was very brave to actually record her own voice singing her song.

Fleur, since as I said some of my critique is a little harsh, I'm going to wait and see what a mod or two might say about it before I post it (good idea, using "expand" tags). I don't want to step on any toes without permission...

Look guys, logistic wise this already has been a major operation which has taken me several days. If we let you vote for several categories, this would cost us a lot of time to sort everything out after the voting closes.

Besides staff might still have something up their sleeve.

Gah - so many great entries, and I can only pic one! I have a few favourites, but I'll have to look one more time and listen to all the songs a bitvmore. (I'm not at home, staying at my grandmother's, and right now visiting my cousin so I could look at all the entries, and it's really late, gotta get home. Any spelling mistakes comes from me being unused to this pc...) I wish I had 48 votes, so that I could vote on them all (except mine)! ;) Good luck, everyone!:D

I suppose I could put the favorable critiques of my top fifteen. I'm sure they would neither break the rules nor hurt anyone's feelings.

I'm so amped about this contest I forgot about the Kentucky Derby until now.

I'm off to watch it, though I will be checking this thread during every commercial first to see if I get votes for my entry, second to see if the mods have anything to say about me posting my less complimentary critiques.

I am finished with the songs. I am going to mull it over before I vote though. So many good songs. I know I don't have a chance at winning. It was fun to do though and I hope it made everyone laugh.
I wrote some of my own notes, but I think I will go through and say sonething about all the songs after a while.

We understand that, Hes, and are really really appreciative of your and the other Mods' hard work on this. But would it be possible to vote for at least 2 or 3 entries? It's almost impossible to choose, they're all so good for different reasons.

I already cast my vote though so any decision on that will not affect me, unless the Mods set up the voting all over again.

I checked # 48 and it does lack the word "Stone". It's a pity no one told the poster that that made it an invalid entry. All that work, and it's not eligible, as per the posted rules. :(

I also saw that someone had a cold when recording their song. I kinda have an inkling who that could be.

I saw that the Mods have solved the embedding problem for # 4, good for the person who posted it. For # 16, could an exception be made if that person uploaded their song onto another site? Just one song shouldn't take that much more work. (Easy for me to say, I know.) :p

People who listed categories, you forgot "longest", "shortest" and "most sleep-inducing" (thus most efficient for the purpose!) ;)

OK, here's my review of the first 10:
1. Fits the song really well...sounds like a DE song (which is a good thing).
2. Love the lyrics - good job fitting them to the rhythm of the song.
3. Nice singing...and nice view. ;)
4. Nice video and flute - it works really well with the song. [Side note: I was listening to this through headphones with my sister in the room. A few seconds in I stopped it for some reason and she said, "Wow, I could have sworn I heard the ice cream truck..."]
5. Awesome video! Lyrics fit the song perfectly.
6. Can't say I really get the lyrics, but they fit the song nicely. Nice ending. ;)
7. I'm biased because I adore the song and the piano playing! (I'm assuming that's not you...if it is you win!) Love the lyrics.
8. Awesome lyrics! "How can I sedate you?" :rotfl: They go great with the song.
9. :rotfl: Lyrics are AMAZING. I really wish you'd sung it, even though it doesn't need it. I'm actually really tempted to record myself singing it for fun (do you mind?). It's catchy.
10. Again, AMAZING lyrics! Absolutely hilarious. I like that sounds kind of like a lullaby. I love "triplicate".

More to come - because I'm sure you're all waiting for it. ;)

Great entries everyone. Voting was very difficult. I finally chose #24 because it seemed like the lyrics fit the tune and the theme very well...and because I really like Send in the Clowns. :D Here's the rest of my notes if anyone cares. (Green means they made my shortlist. Sorry if that's hard for some to read, but that was how I did it to remember green goes on. :D)

1. Sunday, Bloody Sunday – Good job, words fit the melody
2. Flightless Bird – A little hard to follow, especially the chorus. Words were good.
3. Upside down – Singing helped me follow it, but some places the rhythm didn’t fit.
4. Yellow Rose of Texas – Nice video (when I found it). Words didn’t always fit the rhythm.
5. Gotta Get Through This – Nice video, song was a bit repetitive
6. Fly me to the Moon – The first verse seems out of place (what’s that got to do with Fluffy?)
7. Tonight, Tonight – Great job!! I like it. Definite contender.
8. Mamma Mia – Not bad. Words didn’t fit in places
9. Poker Face – Didn’t seem to fit and hard to follow.
10. Kitty – Too funny! Words fit the tune well.
11. Vietnamese Lullaby – Very, very hard for me to follow how the words fit the tune.
12. Hush Little Baby – Words don’t seem to fit the tune in many places
13. A Little Night Music (Mozart) – Bold choice of songs. A bit hard to follow in a few places, though.
14. Come as You Are – Nice job. Liked the words. Wish we’d had a vocal version to help follow where the words go. I think it fit the tune, though.
15. Halleujah – Couldn’t follow the tune because I couldn’t pick out the melody and didn’t know the song. Good words, though.
16. Multiple songs – Didn’t like how it jumped around and did several songs. Might have worked if we’d heard the sound on the video, though, which looked very promising. As is, it didn’t do it for me.
17. Hard Day’s Night – Hilarious romp! Though the words didn’t always fit perfectly, you singing it helped. Very good job; very funny.
18. Le loup, la biche et le chevalier – Easier to follow than most of the other, non-English songs. Good job.
19. Cindy, Cindy – It was a little hard to figure out who is supposed to be singing this. The 2nd verse doesn’t seem to have much to do with the rest.
20. Dancing Cheek to Cheek – Good job fitting the words to the tune. Doesn’t seem to have much to do with getting through the trapdoor, but it is a good job.
21. Sway – It’s harder to fit and follow songs with a faster tempo, but this is pretty good.
22. Grassy Grass Grass – Uhhh, there’s not a sentence in the whole thing. My prejudice, perhaps, but I really think songs should make sense. (To be fair, it’s as good as the original song.)
23. Into The West – I tried several times, but couldn’t follow how the words should fit into that song with the video provided, so I found another where it was sung and found you did a pretty good job. Not knowing the song made it a little hard to follow, still, but the words are very good. (I had never heard it before, but I loved the song, by the way.) A definite contender.
24. Send in the Clowns – Loved this entry! Love the song and your words fit in perfectly. This one is a serious contender.
25. Sad But True – Not a fan of Metallica, but you did a good job on fitting the lyrics.
26. Martha’s Harbour – Good singing voice. Good job on the lyrics. Great entry
27. Take Me Out to the Ball Game – Very original and unique. Short but fit the requirements and task.
28. Puff The Magic Dragon – Great song choice. The words were a bit repetitive, but good. I liked this entry.
29. House at Pooh Corner – Too long of an intro on the video. Some of the words flashed on or off the screen too fast or slow, making it a little difficult to follow if you didn’t know the song. Still, I liked it as I did know the song.
30. Across the Universe – As with some of the others, it was a bit hard to follow if you didn’t know the song well because of the quick tempo. Good job on the words, though.
31. Byssan Lull – One of the better jobs on a non-English song. (I had never heard it before, but I loved the song, by the way.) Good entry
32. Hardcharger – Despite the choices, I couldn’t get the song to play, so I have to judge based solely on the words. I didn’t find that the words made sense and again, I’m a bit prejudiced in that I want words to make sense. (Post hoc, gonna unplug your alarm clock.?????) Also, not generally a rap fan. Sorry.
33. Mary Had a Little Lamb – Good lyrics, but they don’t always fit the tune. Kind of a stretch in places.
34. Une Chanson Douce – Good job here. Words fit the tune and you did a great job singing a capella.
35. Batman Beyond – Uh...sounded, and in places the video looked, like someone had been...uh, impaired. Good job, I suppose, but not my cup of tea.
36. Happy Birthday to You – Good job, but felt...unfinished. Great job on the singing!
37. It’s Crying Time – Very good fit to Crying Time. Good job singing!
38. Abendstille Ueberall – Wacky romp that was lots of fun. Words were very fitting, too. Great job singing.
39. Zelda’s Lullaby – Great job with the ocarina (though I don’t know what a triforce is & will have to google that). The words fit the tune well. Great entry.
40. Needle & Damage is Done – Sorry, but the song you chose turned me off so badly that I couldn’t enjoy your words. I also couldn’t match the lyrics you wrote to the tune.
41. Johnny Depp – Hilarious!! Loved the funny original song (which I had never before heard) and your words fit quite well in most places. Great entry.
42. Little Horses – Great most of the places, but when it speeds up so quickly, it’s really hard to follow and get all the horses in. That’s true of several of the songs, not just this one.
43. Do Do l’enfant do – Good job using a non-English song. Words seemed to fit the tune. Good entry.
44. Who Let the Dogs Out – Would have been better without the attempts at stuttering, as they mess up the rhythm so it no longer fits the tune.
45. Summertime – Nice melody, but I got lost trying to follow the words to the tune. Maybe it was just me, but I tried more than once and kept getting lost.
46. Sweet Dreams Fluffy – Great job singing and drawing all that yourself. Words were certainly appropriate and fitting. A definite contender.
47. We Didn’t Start The Fire – Very ambitious. Fast songs are much harder to follow, but you did a good job with this one. It’s a long song, too. One problem: third floor, not fourth. Still, very good entry.
48. Rockabye Baby – Sorry, but this looked like you decided you wanted to enter, so you turned on the video camera and made it up as you went along. No mention of the stone, which was a requirement. Can’t vote for this one.
49. Brahm’s Lullaby – Good job singing, nice artwork. Loved the “credits” at the end. Some of the words seemed to be shoehorned in, but not too bad.

Great job everyone and thanks to all the mods who worked so hard behind the scenes to get this together.

I did listen to the original song on all of them whenever it was possible to do so. Some that were just instrumentals, if I didn't know them, I searched on YouTube for a song with singing so I could better judge.

The ones that I like a lot:

2, 4, 7, 10, 12, 16, 17, 24, 27, 28, 29, 30, 32, 33, 38, 40, 44, 45, 46, 47, 49. Ughhh....To choose, to choose....

They are all wonderful, I am choosing my favourites based on: difference (in lyrics) from original song, creativity, bonus points if you made up your own tune, lack of repetition, sort of your choice in music (but only if I know the song so it caught my attention), and how funny your song is. =)

I too completed some notes on all of these amazing entries! :D

1: Someday, Voldie, Someday: This was a great sound for the first entry. Good lyrics. Ironic how the songs meant to be anti-war, and the new songs from Voldie’s supporters perspective :p
2: Fluffy’s Lullably: Sweet song, good lyrics. Just I personally didn’t like that you went into further events than Fluffy. Is that you on the piano? If so, it’s great :)
3: Round and Round: Love the cupboard  Good singing :tu: Good attempt at the lyrics, but I felt they were a bit messy
4: The Fluffy Song: Love the flute! :D Good lyrics. :tu: And the video too is well done :)
5: I Gotta Get Through This: Great video :tu: And good attempt at singing too. Lyrics were well done, but was a bit repetitive at the end.
6: Fly me on a broom: I liked the second verse, but I felt the first one didn’t make sense....
7: Tonight: This was a good one too :) If that’s you on the piano, bravo! :D
8: Fluffy, Fluffy: OMG! I LOVE THIS ONE! This was my second choice, and such a shame I couldn’t vote for two :(
9: Three Faces: Great song, but some of the lyrics weren’t the best :) It’s catchy though
10: Fluffy: These were great lyrics :) Unfortunately, it was a bit slow for me to get into it
11. A Lullaby for Fluffy: I’m very sorry to say that your song choice didn’t complement your lyrics that well, and it was hard to follow the song  Your lyrics look good though :tu:
12. Hush Little Fluffy:  Very interesting. Good job :tu:
13: Fluffy’s Little Night Music: I love how you made a new song using a song without lyrics :D This was definitely one of my favourites, though it took a couple of tries to follow .
14: Come as you are: Shame about the embed issue. :( I personally couldn’t follow this one, and thought it lacked a little: shrug:
15: Through the Trapdoor: Good job :tu: I had this listed as a possibility, so I must have liked it! :D
16: The song based on too many songs: I really do feel sorry for you :( Maybe if the video did work, I’d appreciate it? But I didn’t sorry. I felt it was too messy changing songs all the time (not just cos I had to change links)
17: Sleep Fluffy: This was another good one, but personally, I think mentioning the Beatles ruined it :p Good singing! :)
18: A Lullaby for Fluffy: Good job, especially using a song from a different language :)
19: Fluffy, Fluffy: Good lyrics, but nothing stood out (this was the problem with most of them...)

20: Potter to Potter: I felt this was too much about Harry and not Fluffy
21: Fluffy: Again, good! All of them were good!
22: Doggie Dog Dog:  Like how you spoke to each head :tu:
23: The song: Again, just good (can you tell I’m getting tired of writing notes and this is only half way?)
24: Now Start to Dream: I personally didn’t see anything remarkable, and that might be cos I don’t know the original song :p
25: Too Much Drool: Good Job :)
26: Go to Sleep: Good singing :) Good lyrics too :tu:
27: Take me out of the (CoS) contest: :err: um... If that’s you on the piano, bravo!
28: Fluffy the Three Headed Dog: Good Singing! :D Great lyrics too :)
29: Fluffy’s Lullaby: Good job, and good video too :tu:
30: I just need Fluffy to sleep: Have to say that by this time, I was just taking a minute looking at each entry, and this one didn’t impress me enough...
31: Through the Trapdoor: This is another good job of using a song of a different language :)
32: Sandman: Didn’t really understand most of it
33: The Journey to the Stone: I actually felt this didn’t fit the tune right
34: Have a nice sleep Fluffy: Good singing and video! :D lyrics were good too :)
35: Sleep fluffy sleep: This one made me spend more time watching it, so I really considered voting for this one too. Great job! :D

36: Fluffy’s Lullaby: Great singing :)
37: Slytherin Time: good job, but I’m Anti-Slytherin :p
38: In Fluffy’s Head: Ok, I loved all of this! Great video!!! :D Lyrics were short, but the whole thing just one me over, especially the sheep! So I voted for it :p
39: The-Song-You-Make-Up-Because-You-Don’t-Want-To-Die-A-Very-Painful-Death: Nice title  :tu: And great Ocarina playing :) Lyrics are short and sweet.
40: The Song: Good job :)
41: The Fluffy Song: Hana, was that you!!!! Oh wait, you didn’t enter  This was a pretty funny original song, and the lyrics were good too :)
42: All the Yummy Flying Horses: Does Fluffy eat horses? :err:  :tu:
43: Sleep Fluffy Sleep: Good job :)
44: Who let the troll in: :rotfl: I felt it didn’t keep with the chronology we were working with, though  Good work! :tu:
45: Sleepy Time: Good job, great song :tu: :)
46: Sweet Dreams Fluffy: Loved the video! :D Good singing!! Lots of good work for the lyrics too. :)
47: We didn’t fight old Fluffy: Good Job, I didn’t really get it that well, though  :)
48: Rockabye Fluffy: I have a feeling I know who this is :p Good job, but as someone pointed out – no mention of the stone! :wow:
49: Fluffy’s Song: Great last entry! :D

19. Cindy, Cindy – It was a little hard to figure out who is supposed to be singing this. The 2nd verse doesn’t seem to have much to do with the rest.
I have it on good authority (the author, with whom I was discussing the entries) that it was Nicholas Flamel who was supposed to be singing, how he got eternal life and got tired of it, but wanted the Stone to stay in hands that were pure, or words to that effect. He doesn't want to come in himself, to preserve anonymity, so I'm the messenger.

It was not my entry  , that I can tell you.

These are my notes after listening to the songs at least twice. You'll see why I have to think it over some more.

1. to the tune of Bloody Sunday-I liked your lyrics better than the original. Most of the words matched up very well, but not quite all.
2. Flightless bird, American Mouth by Iron and Wine-Great job on the Verses, but I just could not getthe music to match with the chorus.
3. "Upside Down". You did a great job singing, but there were a few places that matched up better when you listened to the sound clip. Love this song. I think of "Meet the Robinson's Every time I hear it.
4. The Yellow Rose of Texas Love the Flute. As it got towards the end though, I had a harder time matching the words to the tune, it is late though so ot could just be me.
5. I gotta get through this-love the way it has sound of a "sneaking" sound at the beginning. You should have cut it short though since the second half it a bit repetative.
6. FLY ME TO THE MOON, Very classy choice. My only problem is that the first verse goes from the quiditch pitch to the third floor in mid verse. It was a hard verse to match though, so Fluff don't bite me was excellent.
7. Tonight, Tonight-good job with the matching the words to the tune. I had a bit of trouble going from the first to the second, because I thought there would be a bridge though.
8. Mamma Mia -very upbeat and it is like he is singing to each head.
9.Poker Face - Lady Gaga-love the Th Th Th Three faces.
10. Kitty-I've never heard this song before, but the words match great and it is like a lullibye.
11. A Vietnamese lullaby- the words are nice, but I just can't get the words to match the tune.
12. Hush little Baby. Very cute. I love how you had to correct the grammer in the first verse.
13. A Little Night Music- This is amazing. To put words to a song that doesn't have any and have them match the beat so perfectly. Awesome.
14. Come As You Are- a bit short, but I really like the tune and most of the words seem to match up.
15. Hallelujah -I really like this song, but I wish you had had it with words to make it easier to follow. The words to seem to match pretty well though.
16. This song looks like it took a lot of hard work but moving from song to song breaks up the continuity of the song and I think that would be true even if we didn't have to go to the different links. I wish we could hear it the way you ment for us to hear it.
17. A Hard Day's Night-I love the Beatles and you did a great job, makes me remember a conversation in the shack about the "beetles".
18. Le loup, la biche et le chevalier -excellant job. I was able to easily follow the words and tune. Excellent words.
19. Cindy, Cindy. I love the way it makes Voldy sound cheerful. You used another great song.
20. Cheek to cheek- This is a classic song. The words work well.
21. Sway with Me- My hair on my head! I am not very familiar with this song, but I can make the words fit the music.
22. Grassy Grass Grass- I love how everything is repeated three times. Not much in the way of a cohesive story though.
23. Into the West- The lyrics are very nice, but since I am not familiar with the song, I can only just keep the tune.
24. Send in the Clowns-Amazing and such a lovley song.
25. Sad But True- One of the Greatest Rock songs ever. I love Metallica and there is the added benifit of it remending me of Enter Sandman.
26. Martha's Harbour-great job singing and accapella too. So good.
27. Take me out to the ball game-it is short, but cute. Any length is better than no length.
28. Puff the Magic Dragon-I love this song. It is all inoccent and about childhood and is great for describing Fluffy. One of my favorites.
29. House at Pooh Corner- Truely one of my favorite songs. Words matched the tune brilliantly. One of my favorites.
30. Across the Universe-I'm not as familiar with this song as othe Beatles songs, but the story you tell with it is very good and matches the tune very well.
31. Byssan Lull- I am not familiar with this song, but it seems to fit the tune very well and tells an interesting story.
32. I could not get any of the links to work.
33. Mary had a little lamb, cute but some of the beats were a stretch
34. une chanson douce-very sweet. Another accapella done very well.
35. Batman Beyond- Very cool effect on the voice. It does make the words not quite fit in places though.
36. Lullibye and goodnight-Very good singing, the sords are right on with the beat.
37. Very good attempt at singing a very hard song. I love the way the heads fall asleep one at a time.
38. Abendstille ueberall -adorible. Love the sheep
39. Zelda's Lullaby- I love the flute.
40. Needle And The Damage Done -it started good, but i couldn't keep the tune with the words, which could be because I am not familiar withthe tune.
41. Johnny Depp- So funny. I never heard this song before, but The words just worked. Love the Vold E and HArry. Hilarious/
42. The Little Horses- Sick mind to make such a cute song into something so evil.  I loved it.
43. Do do l'enfant do- Justthe typw of song to put Fluffy to sleep. Very Sweet and well written.
44. Some of the words don't quite match with the tun because of the studder, but that would be the point. The beginning is Like Quirrel at the beginning of the book, with Voldy just in his mind, the end is like the end with Voldy in control.
45. Summertime- The tune and words matched up pretty well the first time I heard it, but notthis time, could be that it is late or that I am not familiar withthe song.
46.Sweet Dreams Fluffy-so much work in this. Cute pictures and nice job singing.
47. We Didn't Start the Fire-Love Billy Joel. Great Job, but you should have cut it off with one final chorus, instead of four.
48. Rockabye Baby- cute. Love the violin, but some of the words don't quite fit.
49. Lullaby and good night- Very cute, nice storytelling.

It will take Rob (WanderingPrince) and me all weekend to really go through 49 entries. From the few we've seen, most are extraordinarily well made, well thought out and imaginative. Lots of talents around here, but we knew that. ;)

Is there any way to petition the Mods so we can vote for more than one entry? It's so difficult to choose, we were joking we'd end up voting for each other just so we don't show a dismal "zero" each, because we can't hold a candle to the other contestants   - though of course we subjectively think that our true love's entry is the best of them all. ;)

We're glad we have a whole week to make up our minds.

This is what Hes said earlier, I think it would be too tough for them to sort out a winner if we were all voting for more than one. :)

Look guys, logistic wise this already has been a major operation which has taken me several days. If we let you vote for several categories, this would cost us a lot of time to sort everything out after the voting closes.

Besides staff might still have something up their sleeve.

To clarify what I asked earlier about the results: I didn't mean the feedback/critiques that some folks have made. Those are great! What I was mostly referring to was mentioning which entry is currently in the lead and so forth, since those of us who have voted can see the poll results, but those who haven't cannot. :)

From the above quote, what she said was "several categories", not "several entries". It wouldn't be that different for the Mods as far as tallying the votes is concerned, would it? :hmm:

At some points during the elections last year, we could vote for two teams in certain tasks, it should be feasible for us to vote for several entries in this poll - except that now a number of people have voted, so it may be difficult to change the setup.

Still, Mimosa and I will wait a few days in the hope they may change their minds and allow us multiple votes. It's really too hard to pick just one among so many great entries. :sigh:

I'm curious, however, what they have up their sleeves. Something devilish, no doubt. (J/K!!)

They can't change it to being able to vote for more than one, because people have already voted and if they changed it, those people would be disadvantaged or they'd all have to vote again!

Just take your time to pick one - you'll come to a decision :)

Not that many people have voted, it shouldn't be a big problem, but I guess the Mods are exhausted after all this work, so they're taking a well-deserved break.

Anyway, since I'm on the road and not sure when I'll be able to log in again, I cast my vote. It was a hard choice between the entry I voted for and several others, but I had to make a decision, and I didn't want to get past the deadline and not have voted.

Many thanks to the lone person who voted for me. You have good taste!

13. A Little Night Music- This is amazing. To put words to a song that doesn't have any and have them match the beat so perfectly. Awesome
I agree completely. Lots of imagination and sense of rhythm. Nice pictures, too. That is one of the best.

I wouldn't be so hard on 4 as you are, actually it's one of my favorites. I didn't have a problem matching words and music. But I agree with you on 12, 18, 19, 34, 43 and 45.

11 was a tough job. The author may have thought that lyrics in a foreign language would work the same as plain music, but unlike French, Vietnamese is too different for non-speakers to follow. Pity, because the lyrics are very good.

Upon thinking about 16 more, now that I am more awake, I realize that the discontinuity is the point. The dog has different personalities, so the singer is trying to find the song that fits the personality. Very bold and risky decision. Someone not liking one song could make them not like the whole thing.

That's what I thought. Thanks. I'm not taking anything like that into account in my personal decision - I figure if its in, it is gold.

It is hard to decide on one still though, even though I had initial favorites, I didn't limit my decisions to those; I went through them all again. Unfortunately, I keep adding more in rather than eliminating. I may never reach a decision. :rotfl:

I went through them all giving them a mark out of 100, and then saw which one had the highest mark, if that helps. I still ended up with a two-way tie at the end, but that was some serious narrowing down. :)

To my thinking, and don't expect Hes to confirm or deny this, we are only voting on the best over all and there will be at least three places and some Honorable mentions is a few different catigoties, decided upon by the mods.

Let me just say that this is the best break from studying for AP exams. Ever.

More reviews:
11. I love the music, although the words are a bit hard to follow.
12. Good lyrics, and definitely a good lullaby. [Am I the only one who finds this video creepy? :rotfl:]
13. Nice video! Went with the lyrics very well. Personally I found it a bit hard to match the lyrics with the instrumental music.
14. I like the simplicity of the lyrics, and they go well with the sax. Again, I found it hard to match the lyrics with the music, though.
15. Love the song! It was probably difficult to follow for those who didn't know the song, so I'd recommend that they look up a version with the original lyrics - your lyrics match very well. Lyrics all make sense, so nicely done. ;)
16. Awesome video! I love the calming images...I can't say I'm not a little confused about the switching songs all the time, but all the lyrics are awesome! Very creative way of approaching it too, with the narration and all. A lot of work went into that, so nicely done!
17. I absolutely love it! Awesome lyrics, awesome video, AMAZING singing and playing! The photo at 2:10 makes me so happy. :D Also, good job fitting the lyrics to the song.
18. Lovely video and music...I could pretty much follow it even though know no French. Nice job.
19. Very creative idea, to do the song from Flamel's point of view. Good lyrics. [I love the video! :D]
20. Such a weird contrast, this lovely romantic song and...Voldemort. Creative idea for a song. Lyrics fit nicely.
21. Good lyrics, and good matching them to the song. It's a kind of hypnotic song...nice choice.
22. Another hypnotic song! I love it. GREAT lyrics. :rotfl:
23. I had trouble matching the lyrics to the music...I have a feeling they do match up, I'm just not getting it. Good lyrics though. :)

This is taking foreverrrr...in a good way.

I wouldn't have thought so, because Hagrid's requirements were very clear:

"Create a song which would put Fluffy to sleep.
Requirements:
1. The song must have original lyrics created by yourself. You can create a song based on an existing tune. Good examples can be found here
2. Should be Harry Potter themed and mention Fluffy and the Philosopher's Stone (only stone allowed too) at least once."

On the other hand, if a Mod says:
All video's are eligible for voting at this point.
Well, I guess the word of a Mod is law, just as if the President says something is legal, it's legal.

However, according to my lawyer father, it sets an unfortunate precedent if a contestant fails to fulfill a clearly stated requirement and gets away with it. Who knows what will happen in further contests? :hmm:

When there are so many good entries, what you look for is an eye-catchy, innovative one. And there were two entries that jump right out, in this category:

Entry number 16: This entry was amazing. The lyrics, videos and songs all are wonderful and must have taken loads of work. I loved the parodical humor that it had.

Entry number 46: The drawings, video and singing were as awesome as the lyrics and had a very serene charm to it.

The rest were good as well. In fact very good. They just lacked the X-factor that these two did in IMHO.

Great job, everyone. :)

When people only listen to about half the songs, most of them jump around and only listen to the ones that have been vote for.
I hope that everyone remembers that they have a whole week to listen to them all though, so they don't have to rush thru. Listen to a few and write down your favorite. Listen to the next few and write down your favorite. Then go back and relisten to your favorites to pick a winner.

I am going to vote for the song whose tune is stuck in my head, I think. Having it in Fluffy's head would keep him sleeping and they wouldn't have to worry about him waking up.

Hmm... That does sound like double standard, doesn't it? Maybe the Mods could clear it up in the rules in the next challenge. Like in this case it's OK to omit "stone" but it's not OK to omit "Fluffy". I admit to being nonplussed. Who has to follow all the rules and who is exempted, and how do they know they're exempted, which rules apply and which don't? :hmm:

From what I read, it doesn't look like people make it a matter of life and death, Hes. :)

Simply, it's confusing to have rules, and then some rules don't seem to apply, so it's kinda hard to understand. And seeming double standards do take the fun out of it. People are not complaining, they're trying to get things clarified, that's how I see it.

So many to choose from, I don't know how I'm going to decide! :wow:

I'm a little frustrated though, because I had been working on a music video that would make it easier to follow the lyrics, because the song I chose is hard to follow unless you're familiar with it, but I wasn't able to finish it in time. :(

These all look great so far! I'm taking them in a little at a time, and I'm really excited to see the rest! :)

I was wondering whether, next time we have these many entries to a contest, we could do a French-style, two-round svote? First round to determine, say the top 5, then the second round to vote for the overall winner? Just an idea that came through my mind, it may not be feasible, too much work for the Mods who have already done an absolutely awesome job. :tu: So, if it's not possible, please don't jump on me... It was just something I thought of and thought I'd share.

I was just listening to the song to the tune of "Night Music" and it was in a TV commercial in the other room.

I don't know what is wrong with me. There are so many songs that were very easy for me to get to match the music the first time I listened to them, but know I am having trouble and I know it is just me.

I didn't have any problem, actually I thought it was remarkably well done. Several members said the same thing earlier, how difficult it must have been to write lyrics to a piece of music that never had any words to it, and to make it match so well. I was in awe myself. (No, it isn't mine.)

I wouldn't say it was "winning" just yet, though. It's leading, but only by one vote, plus there are still 3 days and a number people haven't voted. Things can change.

They certainly are! I'm amazed! No wonder I got zero votes, with such competition!

It was very, very hard to make up my mind.

I want the following entrants to know that they were on my short list and that I'm very very sorry I couldn't vote for more than one person:
# 2, I liked your lyrics, the way they fit the music, and the way you put them on screen to make it easier to follow.

# 4, not only you posted the lyrics on screen, but you added appropriate pictures. You were really my second choice.

# 7 that was an awesome rewriting of "Tonight", and it fit the rhythm of the original perfectly. Are you a piano virtuoso too?

# 11 was that you singing the lullaby? The lyrics didn't fit too well IMO but you got points for exotism.

# 13, how you managed to put words to Mozart is beyond me, you did a stupendous job. :tu:

# 18 and # 34, funny you chose the same song under different titles. I thought # 18 did a good job rewriting the lyrics in English, they meshed very well with the melody. # 34, I take it that was you singing? I'll bet you sang the originals to your children, am I right? You did a good adaptation too!

# 27, your lyrics were so funny!!

All the entries were awesome, and it's obvious everyone put their hearts in the task. Their wit, too, for some of those which are hilarious. So much creativity all around.

I wish I could have voted for at least half a dozen. :sigh:

The thing is that the pictures match up and that made it easy the first time. I finally gave up and just sang it out loud. Then the words fit.

I also found that on 44 if you listen to the original song, Who let the Dogs out, there is a very different "tone" to the song. Not that everyone doesn't love singing that would make any dog other than Fluffy howl in pain. Though it is funny to listen to the first couple of times.

Yes, singing along while looking at the pictures (they do help a lot) is the thing to do on that one.

For the others, where the original songs had lyrics (even when only the instrumental version was played on the video, like on # 4 and # 7 among others), and especially if those lyrics are well known, it's much easier to follow.

It must have stood out as extra special, to be on that many people's lists! The one drawback of a poll like this is that it doesn't show the popularity of a song which is absolutely everybody's second or third choice (but no-one's no. 1 favourite). That's why it's nice to read the comments.

That is why I am waiting. I don't want to vote and then change my mind. I changed my mind the second time I listened to the songs, realizing I was voting for the song mostly because I like the original. There was too much work put into these to vote without considering how much work went into them and the story they tell and how well the words fit with the tune.

I am also pretty sure I know who did some of the songs and it kind of lets me "see into the head" of the writers.

Personally, I think it's a good suggestion. Someone who hasn't voted yet told me they were wavering between one of the leaders and another which has got just a few votes, and feels that voting for the one with no chance to win would be "wasting a vote"... so maybe they'll vote to break the tie. They don't know which way they'll go yet.

That's why earlier I was making the comparison with the French two-rounds voting system. In one round, people vote "according to their hearts", i.e. even for people they think have no chance to win (I mean in the political arena, more specifically the French one, like voting for a Black woman just because she's Black and a woman, but from such a minor party that she has no chance whatsoever of making it to the run-off.) On the second round, people vote more according to their brains and political inclination than their hearts.

This is just a comment. I know it's been stated in no uncertain terms that the voting system here won't change, though I do think Rox's suggestion has merit. But then it would be a headache for the Mods, so, back to square One.

That's funny, but I was completely the opposite. I was really torn between 2 songs. I didn't press "View Poll results" before I voted , because I didn't want to be influenced by others' choices, but when I found out afterwards that the song I'd ended up voting for was one of the front runners and the song I nearly voted for had nul points, I wished I'd voted for my second choice, as the writer needed my vote more.

But, actually, it's worrying if people are already acting as if the die's been cast, when there are still a few days to go and loads more people may yet vote. Everything could change in that time!

It's my guess that this is where the Mods come in. IMO they'll give out prizes for different categories. And consolation prizes to the many who didn't get any vote though they, like everyone else, gave their best efforts, took the time to come up with ideas, lyrics, etc.

All the contestants are really really good, there's no doubt about it. Ah well. A little less than two days before the polls close, and maybe a couple more days until the contestants and their supporters can stop biting their nails. (Maybe some will just go jump in the river... Joking!!!!)

The last people to vote, if they vote for one of the leaders, will be the ones to determine the final outcome. Scary, isn't it? And I haven't voted yet.

I haven't voted yet too... It's so hard to decide that I think I'll do am, stram, gram too :D.

I was trying to get a chance to let my kids listen to them and tell me what they think too.
Even when I tried to get them to sing my song Amanda did not try very hard.

You mean you haven't voted yet either - ;)

So at least three of you still to vote, Heaven only knows how many others. Do you realize how cruel that is for people who are waiting on tenterhooks to know the results? Even if, like Anhelda said, they're not in the lead.

I've voted days ago. I didn't vote for myself, and making a choice was hard, but I wanted to have it done with. Now I'll go lie down with a good book and try to forget about this contest for a while. :)

Second-to-last post of reviews. ALMOST DONE!

32. SO creative! Love the lyrics! Charger could have done better staying with the beat, but overall it was great. Really fun to listen to, and I guess that's the important thing, right? Hard work went into that, so nicely done.
33. Cute lyrics. :) I don't know what else I can say, really.
34. You have a beautiful voice! I don't understand the lyrics in the last stanza, but other than that it was great. Nice video too!
35. Awesome video! That must have taken so much work! Good lyrics, and however you did the singing, it worked really well. Nice job!
36. Nice lyrics - thanks for putting them in the video! And good job singing.
37. Great lyrics; they fit perfectly with the song. Very creative idea for the song!
38. If this were a video contest, out of the ones I've seen, yours wins hands down. It's extremely well done! And actually entertaining! Great lyrics also!
39. I love this one because it sounds like a song you actually would use to put Fluffy to sleep. Like what Harry would have played if he were musically inclined. ;) Nice lyrics, even though it's short.
40. Nice job fitting the lyrics to the song!
41. What the heck is this song?!! :rotfl: Lyrics are amazing, and they fit perfectly. I appreciate the successful rhyming!
42. Wow, interesting...I like the lyrics a lot. :)

When I tried to register yesterday, I had to wait about 10 hours before my account was validated, so I started looking around the site. I stumbled on this contest quite by chance, and I started to look at the entries and got totally hooked. Went practically nowhere else except the Sorting Hat.

Whatever else they are, the Potterfans on this site are an awesomely talented group. :tu:

I voted after a bit of hesitation. I'm curious to see who will win. The three leaders are very different in approach and tone, I'll learn a lot when I see the final results. :)

Thanks for correcting me, Fleur, I'm getting tired .
I think I made up my mind, it's time for me to vote. It was sooo difficult to choose only one.
Can't wait to see the results. And to know what the next challenge is :D.

Of course, if enough people vote last-minute for a song that isn't in the lead, then we could have an unexpected winner in the popular vote...

Why is it that as soon as someone's leading, everyone acts like it's set in stone that that one's going to win? I mean, really, the leader only has 11 votes right now.

It is really hard to decide still. I like the send in the clowns song because it would be very easy to get a music box with that tune on it. They are all over the place.
