LyraLovegood May 8th, 2009, 2:28 am I asked a Mod where to put this, but I'm still not absolutely sure it belongs in the Cloak.
If it's too much "fun-and-games" and not enough serious series investigation, please move it to the Quidditch Pitch.
I got this idea researching the timelines of the 60's, 70's, and 80's at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I wanted to see who was at Hogwarts with Bellatrix Lestrange.
Then I thought it would be even more interesting to find out who would have been at Howarts with my ownself. If I'd started at the age of 11, I'd have been a Hogwarts student in the 80's. Gwenog Jones, Captain of the Holyhead Harpies, would have been a classmate of mine, and Slughorn would have been my Potions Professor.
In my first year, Regulus Black and Dirk Cresswell would have been studying for their N.E.W.T.'s. At least, until Regulus met his untimely end in the Inferius Cave. Barty Crouch, Jr. would have been a sixth year, and the hostess of the popular radio program The Witching Hour, of which Molly Weasley was so fond, would have been studying for her O.W.L.'s.
Bill Weasley would have started when I was a fourth year, and Charlie Weasley and Nymphadora Tonks when I was in sixth year. Most of the members of The Weird Sisters band would have been younger students while I was there.
How about you? When would you have gone to Hogwarts, if you had gotten that wonderful letter by owl post on your eleventh birthday? Who would your classmates have been?
ally_xx May 8th, 2009, 3:06 am It was the year 2001 when I was 11 years old ... so I'm not sure! Maybe Harry's kids? I'm no good at math :(
LyraLovegood May 8th, 2009, 3:16 am No, we unfortunately don't have much information for this decade's Hogwarts events.
And the next generation's Hogwarts years are still in the future; Teddy Lupin is due to catch the Hogwarts express as a first year in three months, three weeks, and three days. Or 117 days.
But the two little witches who were riding around on toy broomsticks at the Quidditch World Cup would have been your classmates.
Anhelda May 8th, 2009, 3:25 am I would have started Hogwarts in 1982, having just missed the cutoff for the '81 class with my September birthday. That would have put my graduation year as 1989, so I would have been at Hogwarts with every Weasley kid except Ginny, Ron, and the twins, who would have started their first year in September after I left in June. I would have also presumably been there with Tonks. I would have been just 2-3 years behind Lyra (depending on her birthday), who started this thread.
LyraLovegood May 8th, 2009, 3:27 am Tonks & Charlie were in Hogwarts from 1984-1991. :tu:
Anhelda May 8th, 2009, 3:30 am After double-checking your profile, Lyra, I see that you are also a September baby and would have therefore started your Hogwarts years when you were 4 days shy of 12--that means you would have been two years in front of me, and both of us would have been enjoying the Ravenclaw common room during those nice peaceful years between the VoldWars.
ETA: Actually, it's three year ahead--Ravenclaw, I may be, but math is still my nemesis...:sigh:
LyraLovegood May 8th, 2009, 3:31 am I was bumped ahead due to being extra smart. ;)
merrymarge May 8th, 2009, 3:53 am I was eleven in 1966. James, Lily, Sirius, Snape and Lupin would be twelve in 1972, which would make them second years', while I would be in my seventh year. At least I think so. Don't know if Slughorn would still be teaching potions or not because I don't know when he retired. Dumbledore would be Headmaster, etc., etc. And I would be in Hufflepuff. I probably would have heard about the Mauraders' and their different adventures, but I wouldn't really spend time with them.
ActingDude17 May 8th, 2009, 4:08 am Lessee. My birthday is October 17, 1995. I would miss the 2006-2007 school year by a month and a half. I would begin my First Year September 1, 2007. At the very moment I'd be an older Second Year.
2007-2008 - Nothing (Harry is appointed Head of Auror Dept. though)
2008-2009 - Nothing
2009-2010 - Teddy Lupin's First Year at Hogwarts
2010-2011 - Nothing
2011-2012 - Victoire Weasley's First Year at Hogwarts
2012-2013 - The Muggle World apparently ends. Not too sure about The Wizarding World.
2013-2014 - Nothing
That's disappointing.
LyraLovegood May 8th, 2009, 4:12 am Sorry, ActingDude. Some people have a lot more information available than others; but that just means you have more freedom to write fanfic without worrying much about canon!
MerryMarge, you'd have been in Hogwarts with Lucius Malfoy, and Bellatrix, Andromeda and Narcissa Black! That would be fun to play with! Also Arthur Weasley and Molly Prewitt would have been upperclassmen, and Rita Skeeter as well.
merrymarge May 8th, 2009, 4:42 am Sorry, ActingDude.
Are you sure? You mean I wouldn't have been to school with the Marauders' at all? or maybe you are right and I can't do math.
wickedwickedboy May 8th, 2009, 4:46 am I would have been there while Harry and gang were there...I don't know the cut off months and such so...
Lady Elven May 8th, 2009, 6:27 am I think I would have gotten my letter in 1998. I would have left Hogwarts in 2005. so I think I just missed the trio, Ginny & luna would have been 7th Years. but I'm like everyone else, horrible at math.
Magi May 8th, 2009, 7:05 am I would have started Hogwarts in September of 1993, and would have been in the same year as Colin Creevey's younger brother, Dennis Creevey.
First Year, 1993-1994: Sirius Black escapes.
Second Year, 1994-1995: Tri-wizard Tournament.
Third Year, 1995-1996: Umbridge's reign of Hogwarts.
Fourth Year, 1996-1997: Voldemort declares himself, Dumbledore dies.
Fifth Year, 1997-1998: Voldemort takes over wizarding Britain. I'd probably have been shipped off to Azkaban for being a Muggle-born student.
Sixth Year, 1998-1999: Presuming I survive Azkaban, clean-up of the wizarding world. Kingsley is interim Minister. McGonagall is Acting Headmistress. Ginny and Luna graduate. Hermione finishes her NEWTs.
Seventh Year, 1999-2000: Graduation. Dennis Creevey graduates.
It's kinda depressing that I'd end up oppressed -- perhaps to the death -- by the DE and Dementors. :( However, the fact that both Colin Creevey manages to evade capture by the DE despite his being Muggle-born, gives me hope. ;)
skullangel May 8th, 2009, 8:43 am I would have been an exchange student around 1989, getting sorted Twins, A Gryfindor an unseen and unheard member of their ring, my specalialty would be messing around with muggle artifacts, my favorite ingridient is Gunpower.
I'd get into trouble with them until they left Hogwarts during Umbridge's time, I decided to stay and keep an eye on Umbridge for them, I would graduate 1996. And come back in 1997.
Paul_Collins May 8th, 2009, 11:00 am I would have started in 1980, though I live in the wrong country lol
Not sure who that would overlap with. Charlie and Bill just I think.
Jack5555 May 8th, 2009, 1:50 pm Um, no major people actually. I would coincide with Teddy for a very short time, but that is about it really.
LyraLovegood May 8th, 2009, 2:46 pm Are you sure? You mean I wouldn't have been to school with the Marauders' at all? or maybe you are right and I can't do math.
Yes yes, you were right about the Marauders, I just went to see who would be older than you but still at school when you began.
Pearl_Took May 8th, 2009, 3:01 pm Fun question. :D
I would be two years below James, Lily, Remus, Sirius, Peter and Severus.
So I am almost in the Marauder generation, but not quite. ;)
I would have graduated the year in which Harry was born.
arithmancer May 8th, 2009, 3:13 pm I would have started school in 1979, I would guess, the year I would have started middle school in Muggledom. So I would have just missed overlapping Snape, Lily, and Company.
Gwenog Jones, Captain of the Holyhead Harpies, would have been a classmate of mine, and Slughorn would have been my Potions Professor.
Severus Snape would have taken over for him early in our school career. He started teaching the year the Potters were killed, which was the 1981-82 academic year. I would sooo have had a crush on him!
cardinalguy May 8th, 2009, 3:21 pm OotP would have been my first year. The Ministry falls just in time for year 3 (what would that do for Hogsmeade privileges?). Aftermath in year 4.
Vita May 8th, 2009, 3:25 pm Well I was 11 in 1996 so I guess I would have just overlapped the Trio,. They would have been 6th years as I came in as a ickle firsty :) Wouldn't have been much help in the war against Voldemort I guess but I would have been there at least :D
arithmancer May 8th, 2009, 3:59 pm OotP would have been my first year. The Ministry falls just in time for year 3 (what would that do for Hogsmeade privileges?). Aftermath in year 4.
Hogsmeade privileges still existed under Voldemort, though Headmaster Snape revoked Ginny Weasley's. Though this might or might not affect you - if your parents happened to both be Muggles, you would not have been attending school at alll, during this year.
Bscorp May 8th, 2009, 4:06 pm I was 11 in late 1984. So I guess I would have started in 1985-1991. After James and before Harry. "The quiet years." :D In either Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw most likely.
Spacecadet May 8th, 2009, 4:59 pm I would have started in 1993 and been there through 2000 so I would have been two years behind the trio according to this timeline http://www.veritaserum.com/info/birthdays.shtml
Daggerstone May 8th, 2009, 6:34 pm I was 11 in 1988, which effectively means 'one Weasley or another ALL throughout your education', then Golden Trio in the Third year... *groans*
The only perks would've been Slytherins being house (and Quidditch) champions for most of my time there. :D
Though, now I really think about it... :hmm:
My letter would've probably had the Durmstrang crest on it instead of Hogwarts one - and would make me Viktor's classmate.
mactheknife May 8th, 2009, 8:17 pm going by this time line id have started in 1996, when Harry was starting his 6th year at Hogwarts!...incidentally....that summer id also have been sharing my birthday with a certain Harry Potter on July 31st ;) :D
AccioLumos May 8th, 2009, 9:08 pm i would have had front row tickets at the TriWizard Tournament!
Number41 May 9th, 2009, 12:02 am This is fun! Let's see, I was born in 1981, which would make my first year 1992, meaning I would be in Ginny's year. That would put me right in the thick of things, except I probably wouldn't be in Gryffindor, I'd be in Ravenclaw most likely. All I know is that I would've had a mad crush on Neville in my 6th year!!
Aurora_Yaxley May 9th, 2009, 12:11 am Hmmmm I would use a time turner and go back a few years so I could be in the thick of it all Wouldnt have minded being at school with Sirius, Remus and James ! oh and Beaky
LyraLovegood May 9th, 2009, 12:53 am I was 11 in late 1984. So I guess I would have started in 1985-1991. After James and before Harry. "The quiet years." :D In either Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw most likely.
You'd have had Charlie Weasley and Nymphadora Tonks as classmates!
_LoonyLovegood_ May 9th, 2009, 1:09 am I was born in 1992, making 2003 my first year. I would have missed all the excitement. :p
ignisia May 9th, 2009, 1:22 am How about you? When would you have gone to Hogwarts, if you had gotten that wonderful letter by owl post on your eleventh birthday? Who would your classmates have been?
I was 11 in 2000. I'd be in school with the likes of Dennis Creevey, Ewan Abercrombie, etc. They'd be much older than me, however.
snapes_witch May 9th, 2009, 1:41 am Fun question. :D
I would be two years below James, Lily, Remus, Sirius, Peter and Severus.
So I am almost in the Marauder generation, but not quite. ;)
I would have graduated the year in which Harry was born.
No, you're definitely in the Marauders' generation, which should include everyone who was in school the same time they were.
I'm afraid to figure out who I'd be at Hogwarts with!!:no:
Labrynth May 9th, 2009, 2:36 am I would have been 11 in 1986 so I guess I'd have been there with Tonks and Charlie Weasley. A rather quiet time I suppose.
Mrscole May 9th, 2009, 1:27 pm I'd be a first year when Tom Riddle was a sixth year, so I'd be there when Myrtle was killed. Probabley being in Hufflepuff.
skullangel May 9th, 2009, 2:05 pm I think I made a minor oopsie! in my first post!
I was born 1976 December so I would start my first year September 1988 Harry Potter would be in my 3rd year... I would have taken my owls during 1993 When the chamber of secrets open. I'd be leaving during Goblet of fire... At least I'd get to cast my name in the Goblet of Fire...
Coley May 9th, 2009, 4:01 pm I was born in 1994 so I would have started in 2005 , nothing too exciting for me :( .
lcbaseball22 May 9th, 2009, 4:23 pm I would have been starting Hogwarts the first year after Harry defeated Lord Voldemort...
SlytherinLocket May 9th, 2009, 5:15 pm I would be starting in 2003, in the Post-Second-Wizarding-War years, probably sorted in Slytherin although Ravenclaw stands a fair chance...
My seventh year would be Teddy Lupin's first year though, so I'd get to see the changes in the world after the war and meet Teddy!
Of course, this is all assuming that I'd go to Hogwarts instead of to the American Wizarding School...possibly Salem Witches Institute?
Kanavb May 9th, 2009, 5:40 pm Ok......I was born January 1995
That means I joined Hogwarts in September 2006
And THAT means i give my N.E.W.T.S. and graduate in July 2013
any idea who i would be with? Teddy?
LyraLovegood May 9th, 2009, 5:49 pm I would have been 11 in 1986 so I guess I'd have been there with Tonks and Charlie Weasley. A rather quiet time I suppose.
Until your sixth year, when Harry & co. get sorted! And then the Chamber of Secrets would have been opened during your N.E.W.T. year. Would you have been distracted, do you think?
Ok......I was born January 1995

And THAT means i give my N.E.W.T.S. and graduate in July 2013
any idea who i would be with? Teddy?
Yes, Teddy will begin when you're in fourth year, and Victoire in your sixth year. You get to be in Professor Neville Longbottom's first Herbology classes.
deansboy May 9th, 2009, 7:43 pm Considering the lateness of my birthday (November 1983) I would not have started till 1995, when I was nearly 12, freakin' OoTP, and graduated in 2002. I would've missed all the funnier stuff and essentially have a year before plunging into a Wizards war. I would've been at school with all the major characters and most of the minor ones, except for Percy, for at least a year.
Vig May 9th, 2009, 7:50 pm Ok, I was born in the year September 14th, 1988. So, I would start Hogwarts in the year 2000. I would probably come across Teddy at some point I suppose, though I am not entirely sure. I am very muddled up with respect to timelines. So when (the year?) does the pre-epilogue of DH actually conclude?
LyraLovegood May 9th, 2009, 8:08 pm Ok, I was born in the year September 14th, 1988. So, I would start Hogwarts in the year 2000. 2017.
Teddy will attend Hogwarts from 2009 to 2016, and if you started in 2000 you had your N.E.W.T.'s in 2007. So you will miss Teddy. :(
Vig May 9th, 2009, 8:16 pm 2017.
Teddy will attend Hogwarts from 2009 to 2016, and if you started in 2000 you had your N.E.W.T.'s in 2007. So you will miss Teddy. :(
Oh. :grumble:
I will probably attend Hogwarts during the rehabilitation phase which would probably be interesting in itself, I guess.
deansboy May 9th, 2009, 9:43 pm I am very muddled up with respect to timelines. So when (the year?) does the pre-epilogue of DH actually conclude?
Pre-Epilogue as in the end of the battle of Hogwarts? June 1998.
snapes_witch May 9th, 2009, 9:44 pm I'd be a first year when Tom Riddle was a sixth year, so I'd be there when Myrtle was killed. Probabley being in Hufflepuff.
Near as I can figure -- using the [supposed] age [and original owner] of the HBP's book for reference -- I'd probably have been in school with Eileen Prince and in Slytherin.
Gaian May 9th, 2009, 10:10 pm I was born on march,1 1979, so I would be the same year as Cho Chang I think and graduated in 1997, after Dumbledore's death .
TreacleTartlet May 9th, 2009, 11:07 pm As I was 11 in June 1970, I would have started school in the September of that year. This means that I would have been in my second year when Severus, Lily and the Marauders all started school. :D
Fun question. :D
I would be two years below James, Lily, Remus, Sirius, Peter and Severus.
Hey, we would have been there at the same time!:D I'd have been in my fourth year when you started school.
jenntonic May 17th, 2009, 5:35 pm Hmmm...this is one of the first threads that have actually made me think! Just not fair to do to someone as old and, well, nevermind. I'd have started in 1986, so maybe Slughorn would have been my Potions teacher and I might've gotten to meet Gwenog Jones. Congrats - the first question that made me feel OLD :-)
Kanksha May 17th, 2009, 5:46 pm Hmmm I'm born November 1987 and I get my letter once I've already turned 11 right? So I start Hogwarts in September 1999, having missed Ginny and Hermione. I give my NEWTs in 2007, so I'm gone by the time Teddy arrives.
Oh well, I guess I get to see Neville become Herbology professor?
I'll finally see what a normal Hogwarts year is like :)
NickHeartsMat May 17th, 2009, 9:23 pm I would have started in 1994 so I think I would have been in the same year as Dennis Creevy and been at school with all the characters we know and love just way behind them :D
snapes_witch May 17th, 2009, 9:42 pm Hmmm...this is one of the first threads that have actually made me think! Just not fair to do to someone as old and, well, nevermind. I'd have started in 1986, so maybe Slughorn would have been my Potions teacher and I might've gotten to meet Gwenog Jones. Congrats - the first question that made me feel OLD :-)
Well, no, you'd have the pleasure of being taught by Severus Snape who became the Hogwarts' potions master in Sept. 1981. By 1986 I would imagine he would have settled into the teaching personna we know and love so much!! :err: Don't envy you in the least!
dobby_rocks May 18th, 2009, 11:04 am This is an interesting topic -
I was born spring of 1983 so that would have put me in the class that entered September 1, 1994 and leaving June 2001. That’s if I survived the Battle of Hogwarts because I too would have stayed and participated even though I’d been a day from turning 15 and not of age.
I would have been three years behind the Trio and their classmates.
Two years behind Ginny, Colin and Luna.
Fred and George would have been 6th years when I started
People in my year Dennis Creevey, Natalie MacDonald and Jimmy Peakes (G)
Malcolm Baddock, Graham Pritchard (S)
Stewart Ackerley, Orla Quirke (R)
Laura Madley, Owen Cauldwell , Eleanor Branstone (H)
I’d be in hufflepuff and my first year would have been exciting since the Triwizard Tournament took place, the good looking Cedric Diggory would have been in my house and I’d probably have had a crush on him. I’d be sitting in the corner doing my Transfiguration homework and talking to my mates. Quil in hand I’d look up to see Cedric surrounded by older girls fawning over him and sighing to myself that a wee little first year like myself would never have a shot at a 7th year. Of course since he died it wouldn't have worked out anyways.
Then in my second year I would have joined the DA. In my third year well its sort of the calm before the storm, Snape becomes the DADA professor and I now get Slughhorn as the potions professor. Professor Dumbledore dies at the end of the year. In my 4th year I'd either be on the run hiding out if I was muggle born or my wizarding blood could not be proofed. If I was pureblood or half blood and my wizarding blood could be proved then I’d be at Hogwarts helping out Luna, Ginny, Neville and the other students.
If I survived the BOH my 5th – 7th years would have been rather mundane. Though a plus I suppose is that I get to complete my owls and newts undisturbed. Maybe I’d try out for the Quidditch team. I'd start a club for multiracial students at Hogwarts.
I’d have left in June 01. I either would have gotten a job at the Ministry working in the Department for the Regulation and control of magical creatures starting off in the Beast Division. Thirteen years later in 2014 I would have been promoted to Head of that Department. Or I would have had a more hands on job like Charlie has though not working with dragons.
I like to think I would have been friends with Luna seeing that I think we are a lot of alike and have similar interests
I get my letter once I've already turned 11 right? )
I think you could have gotten it a little before that probably the month of your birthday. Though Harry did get the letter the very early morning of his 11 birthday they had been trying to get it to him for probably a few weeks.
LyraLovegood May 18th, 2009, 5:44 pm Hmmm...this is one of the first threads that have actually made me think! Just not fair to do to someone as old and, well, nevermind. I'd have started in 1986, so maybe Slughorn would have been my Potions teacher and I might've gotten to meet Gwenog Jones. Congrats - the first question that made me feel OLD :-)
I have to find this funny as I leave Hogwarts in 1986 and you just started! Which makes me seven years older than you, so don't feel old. You're only as old as you let yourself think you are.
But Gwenog and I would have been seventh years when you started, so we might have met you, or we might have ignored you. I tend to remember that when I was seventeen I almost regarded eleven-year-olds as a different species entirely!
Anhelda May 18th, 2009, 9:53 pm I just realized that I would have come to Hogwarts in the year just after Bill and just before Charlie--I wonder if I could have gotten me a Weasley boy? ;)
LyraLovegood May 18th, 2009, 10:31 pm Charlie's still up for grabs, as far as I know Anhelda!
Labrynth May 19th, 2009, 12:56 am Until your sixth year, when Harry & co. get sorted! And then the Chamber of Secrets would have been opened during your N.E.W.T. year. Would you have been distracted, do you think?.
LOL it's possible. Of course, depending on what sorting quiz etc you use, I'd have been either in Hufflepuff (Which I still don't get) or Ravenclaw... and as a Ravenclaw I refuse to be distracted so easily *G*
Anhelda May 19th, 2009, 2:18 am Charlie's still up for grabs, as far as I know Anhelda!
Charlie's good--I could deal with a Charlie.:) Of course I'd have to tell Molly to back off about my man's hair...do you think that would go over well?
cardinalguy May 19th, 2009, 2:26 am Charlie's good--I could deal with a Charlie.:) Of course I'd have to tell Molly to back off about my man's hair...do you think that would go over well?
Make sure you tell her you're getting married first.
Labrynth May 19th, 2009, 2:27 am If you promised grandchildren you'd have leverage I think *G*
Rush May 19th, 2009, 3:29 am Ahh, I would have missed everything as I would have been in Hogwarts between the epilogue and Harry's seventh year.
I would have started my first year in 2004 and would finish in 2010.
tyro May 19th, 2009, 3:35 am What a fantastic thread.
I was born in May 1985, so would have entered Hogwarts in September 1996, left in July 2003.
Did Harry and co start in 1991? Is there are resource where people are getting the dates from?
I'd hopefully have been in Ravenclaw, but still have taken part in the Hogwarts Battle in my 3rd year I believe - bring it on!
merrymarge May 19th, 2009, 4:06 am I really enjoyed reading all the posts. I didn't see anyone attending school with Molly and Arthur, yet. Or even when Umbridge went to school. I guess she attended Hogwarts, because when she made that speech in OoTP, she mentioned she was glad to be back at Hogwarts.
snapes_witch May 19th, 2009, 6:18 am Did Harry and co start in 1991? Is there are resource where people are getting the dates from?
Yeah, 1991.
Fans pretty much worked it out from bits and pieces in the books, but I think the timeline is pretty complete here:
http://www.hp-lexicon.info/timeline.html
dobby_rocks May 19th, 2009, 7:12 am If you promised grandchildren you'd have leverage I think *G*
Yep adding more grandkids to her brood probably make her happy:p. Some people do marry later in life. My Aunt and her husband were both in their mid 40's when they tied the knot first marrige for both. So you never know ol Charlie might end up finding the right girl.
Well Rush Teddy would been at school with you would have been in your last year and he would have been in his first.
I was just thinking of that anyone in school with Molly and Arthur and their siblings?
People pretty much took it from COS Nick’s deathday party that was one of the few times a date was given in the books he died in 1492 and it was his 500 death day = 1992. Trio were in their second years so their first year would have been the 1991 – 1992 school year.
LyraLovegood May 19th, 2009, 6:12 pm I've been getting the dates from the harry potter wiki.
As to marrying late in life, my fiance will be 53 in June, and I will be his first wife (though he'll be my second husband). Charlie is comparatively young, being 37.
dobby_rocks May 21st, 2009, 4:32 pm Very true and even more so probably for a wizard. I assume when you say Charlie is 37 that were talking about his age now as in 2009. Charlie got to be in his mid 40s during the events of the epilogue.
I just realized that my cousins daughter will be in Lily Potters class (2026).
LyraLovegood May 21st, 2009, 6:15 pm Yeah, generally I'm talking about now unless I'm talking to kids who are currently in or about to enter their Hogwarts years, talking about which of the next generation will be in their class.
Now, this year, Teddy Lupin is awaiting his first trip on the Hogwarts express on September 1. He has yet to snog Victoire. The younger Potter & Weasley children are still too little for Hogwarts.
Yuna_Leonhart May 21st, 2009, 6:31 pm I would have started in Hogwarts in 2002 and would end my school days in June 2009, which would mean I wouldn't be with anyone from the books in Hogwarts. When Teddy Lupin starts Hogwarts I'd be gone, except when I have to do a year again. Pity, I would have liked to go to Hogwarts with Harry and co.
RonsGryfBaby May 21st, 2009, 6:53 pm Well, I was born in 1990 so I was a wee one still when the trio was at Hogwarts. My 11th birthday was May 14th, 2001 so I would have started that September.
2001-2002: nothing...
2002-2003: "
2003-2004: "
2004-2005: "
2005-2006: "
2006-2007: "
2007-2008: '
That was rather depressing though it does give me a lot to work with as far as fan fiction is concerned if I decided to write again.
LyraLovegood May 21st, 2009, 7:06 pm Don't forget the two little witches. The two little witches who were riding toy broomsticks at the Quidditch World Cup were also old enough to start Hogwarts in 2001 according to the wiki I've been using for this thread. You can give them names and have them and Ally be your best friends, and be this decade's version of the Marauderettes.
RonsGryfBaby May 21st, 2009, 7:11 pm That's true. Okay, so there's some people Hmm, I very well may start writing again, just cuz this idea is really tickling my fancy! =]
Green_Arrow May 21st, 2009, 9:33 pm I'd be 11 in 99... where would that land me?? Probably in trouble because Peeves will still be there!
Morning_Star May 21st, 2009, 9:39 pm Hmm... *thinks* 1993+11=2004, plus one more year for being a September child... I would've started in 2005. I guess I would meet Teddy after a while, but apart from that, I think little is happening during my education at Hogwarts. All this assuming I didn't start in a Scandinavian school. :D
halfbloodsnape May 21st, 2009, 10:11 pm Hmm, I was eleven in '93 but being a september baby (on the 4th, honestly, those three days...) I'd have started in 94, so in the year of the Triwizard Tournament. Great. I'd love to join the DA in my second year, but not too happy years following that...
sarahlvinpotter May 21st, 2009, 11:03 pm It was the year 2001 when I was 11 years old ... so I'm not sure! Maybe Harry's kids? I'm no good at math :(
Im same as you really. it would have been 2002 when i started hogwarts. Shame we dont know much about that generation. Hopefully if J.K does her encyclopedia that will enlighten us.
LyraLovegood May 21st, 2009, 11:15 pm Hmm, I was eleven in '93 but being a september baby (on the 4th, honestly, those three days...) I'd have started in 94, so in the year of the Triwizard Tournament. Great. I'd love to join the DA in my second year, but not too happy years following that...
*shares a birthday with halfbloodsnape* That makes us birthday buds! Woot!
We have so little to go on between 1998 and 2017; everyone who's been to Hogwarts over the most recent decade pretty much has to make up their own classmates and events, with the only canon being that McGonagall is Headmistress and Neville starts teaching Herbology by the time Teddy begins in 2009. Apologies to Green Arrow, Morning Star and sarahlvinpotter! JKR didn't give you much to work with!
ally_xx May 22nd, 2009, 1:43 am Im same as you really. it would have been 2002 when i started hogwarts. Shame we dont know much about that generation. Hopefully if J.K does her encyclopedia that will enlighten us.
Well I am still confused. I think I have done this before but oh well. I was born on 16th July 1989. HELP ME!!
cardinalguy May 22nd, 2009, 2:08 am Well I am still confused. I think I have done this before but oh well. I was born on 16th July 1989. HELP ME!!
You started Hogwarts in 2000.
ally_xx May 22nd, 2009, 2:11 am You started Hogwarts in 2000.
Yeah thats about as much as I knew. Sorry I should have been clearer - classmate wise, who would I have been with. Someone did tell me the little girls from Quidditch, but is there anyone else? I would have Graduated in 07.
LyraLovegood May 22nd, 2009, 2:23 am Well I am still confused. I think I have done this before but oh well. I was born on 16th July 1989. HELP ME!!
So you would get your owl on 16th July 2000, and board the Hogwarts express on 1 September 2000. You'd be in the quiet years after the VWII. You get your O.W.L. exams in 2005, and your N.E.W.T.s in 2007. So there's nothing really exciting in the official timeline during your years at Hogwarts, but there are so many CoS members attending this decade, y'all can make your own super exciting fan fictions. You can speculate about McGonagall as Headmistress, who's teaching Potions, Transfiguration, and DADA, when McGonagall retires and who becomes Head afters, and who takes over the new Head's classes. I like the theory in Hogwarts Staff 19 Years Later that Professor Sprout is available to become Headmistress when Neville Longbottom starts teaching Herbology. :tu:

Thanks!! What a boring 7 years at Hogwarts hahaha, no action! No one I know! Nah it wouldn't be boring, it would be so awesome! :)
Gaian May 22nd, 2009, 9:31 am Thanks!! What a boring 7 years at Hogwarts hahaha, no action! No one I know! Nah it wouldn't be boring, it would be so awesome! :)
 I couldn't say the same! I'd have started Hogwarts one year before Harry, ron and Hermione and one year after the twins, and being sorted into Gryffindor, it should have been pretty exciting :D.
byrdibi23 May 26th, 2009, 8:11 pm I don't think I'd get anybody really. I'd start in 2006 and end in 2010. Woot. Where would I find said timeline in order to be sure of my boringness of school at HSWW?
LyraLovegood May 27th, 2009, 12:35 am So you'd only attend four years, and never take your O.W.L.'s? Why?
The timeline for the years between Deathly Hallows and the Epilogue are here, (http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Between_1998_and_2017) in the Harry Potter wiki. Other decades can be researched by clicking on "20th Century" in the box near the bottom of the page.
If you did start in 2006, byrdiby, Teddy Lupin would be a contemporary, just three years below you, and Victoire Weasley would be five years below you, if you stayed for seven years instead of four.
byrdibi23 May 28th, 2009, 7:42 pm I think i was trapped in some strange mode-for some bizzare reason, I thought I started 6th grade in 06. It was actually 9th...my brain just died. its almost summer. Sorry. and thanks.
excusemydust May 28th, 2009, 7:43 pm I was born in September 8 and would just barely miss starting in September of 2000, unless of course they make exceptions for those born just after the cut-off, like the muggle word. ;) So, I guess I'd start in 2001, a comfortable distance away from the trio and their children, but at least I'd have McGonagall as my headmistress, and maybe Neville Longbottom as a professor.
DeathlyH May 28th, 2009, 8:57 pm I would be in Hogwarts right now! Like Harry, I would be one of the youngest students in my class. So I have no idea who I would have had for teachers, since we don't know anything about who teaches at Hogwarts from 1998-2017, besides Professor Longbottom for Herbology and Professor McGonagall as Headmistress.
L1keAstaRRxx May 28th, 2009, 9:18 pm OMG YES! I would actually be in Hogwarts right now, because I was born in 1994, and I'm 15 now so yep, I would be a fifth year.
If I went to Hogwarts, I think my life would be complete.
I would have started in....2005, and I would end in 2011. I don't think I would be in with any of Harry's kids right?
excusemydust May 28th, 2009, 9:47 pm I don't think I would be in with any of Harry's kids right?
No, sadly. :( The first wouldn't start until a few years after you leave. But, you'd be there with Teddy Lupin! :D
snapes_witch May 28th, 2009, 9:56 pm I was born in September 8 and would just barely miss starting in September of 2000, unless of course they make exceptions for those born just after the cut-off, like the muggle word. ;) So, I guess I'd start in 2001, a comfortable distance away from the trio and their children, but at least I'd have McGonagall as my headmistress, and maybe Neville Longbottom as a professor.
No, no exceptions so you'll have to be a year older than your classmates . . . just like Hermione Granger!!
boushh May 28th, 2009, 10:42 pm What a fun idea for a thread! :) I've enjoyed reading through all of the posts. I see a few people around here who'd be at Hogwarts the same time as me... Though I'd have to move to the UK first before I'd be allowed to go. ;)
So I was born in Feb. 1973 so I think I'd start in 1984 because I'd be 11 at that point. So that would be the quiet time of Hogwarts, for the most part.
I'd be in school with a lot of the Weasleys though none would be in my year. I'd be there with Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George and even Ron since I think I would graduate the year that Harry, Ron, Hermione and co would have started school. So the trio, Neville, Ron and Draco would be little first years while I'd be in my seventh. I think I'd be seeing Tonks and Cedric too.
Not sure if I'd be actually sorted into Slytherin like I am here, but for the sake of being consistent let's say I was... then my house would be winning a whole lot of House and Quidditch Cups while I was there. Take that! :p ;)
I'd have had Quirrel as a DADA teacher for that last year and whatever subject he taught before then, was it DADA or something else? Can't remember.
I'm guessing most of the other core subjects would be taught by the same people as Harry's time... same with the House Heads... And lucky me... Snape would be my Potions teacher and my Head of House... Hopefully, I'd be useful and get Slytherin some points. :p
Don't know of any Slytherins that would be in my year...
SandyKinns May 29th, 2009, 12:33 am My birthday is August 30, 1991, and so I JUST make the cutoff that allows me to go to school without being nearly a year older than everyone else. (For those of you who didn't know, those who attend Hogwarst must have turned 11 by August 31.)
I would start in 2002 and I would have just graduated this past term. Yay for me passing my NEWTs!
I assume that I would be there with Teddy Lupin, but I am unsure of his age and I don't have the books to check it with at the moment.
Spirit May 29th, 2009, 12:58 am If I had gone to Hogwarts.... I would have first gone in the fall of 2001, and would have graduated in spring 2008. Nothing interesting, shame.
ally_xx May 29th, 2009, 1:00 am If I had gone to Hogwarts.... I would have first gone in the fall of 2001, and would have graduated in spring 2008. Nothing interesting, shame.
You would have been a year below me, we could have been friends :)
Spirit May 29th, 2009, 1:04 am You would have been a year below me, we could have been friends :)
Well, that's good :)
It looks like there are a lot of people here born in the late 80s/early 90s.
ally_xx May 29th, 2009, 1:05 am Well, that's good :)

Yeah thats true! I'm an 89 baby :)
SandyKinns May 29th, 2009, 1:12 am I would be with all of you guys too :) Though a little younger.
We'd all be friends.
ally_xx May 29th, 2009, 1:17 am I would be with all of you guys too :) Though a little younger.
We'd all be friends.
Lol, yay! :tu:
Man, I so totally wish I was at Hogwarts right now. I could so go for a feast, and sit in the squashy armchairs infront of the common room fire
I wonder if any relatives of anyone from the series would have been with us while we were there :hmm: There is something to think about.
SandyKinns May 29th, 2009, 1:22 am I say there would have to be some...I mean, there are so many HP characters. Yeah Harry's kids would have been too young, but what about George's kids? Or some of the older Weasleys? Hogwarts is a really big school, there definitely had to be kids there that we would recognize at least the last name.
A few minutes earlier I whined to my boyfriend, "I want Hogwarts to be real wahhh." He just laughed and called me a nerd. It would be amazing though.
ally_xx May 29th, 2009, 1:24 am I say there would have to be some...I mean, there are so many HP characters. Yeah Harry's kids would have been too young, but what about George's kids? Yeah thats true. We should start investigationing.
Haha, my boyfriend does the same thing. He hides my books sometimes too, under my pillow or in drawers
wizard_master May 29th, 2009, 2:13 am Yeah thats true! I'm an 89 baby :)
Im 88
that meens you would have been a year below me
ally_xx May 29th, 2009, 2:30 am Im 88
that meens you would have been a year below me
Well then!
Daggerstone May 29th, 2009, 9:57 am I see a few people around here who'd be at Hogwarts the same time as me... Though I'd have to move to the UK first before I'd be allowed to go. ;)
Providing I didn't end up in Durmstrang (which I probably would ;) ), I'd start making your life complicated in your fourth year.
my house would be winning a whole lot of House and Quidditch Cups while I was there. Take that! :p ;)
In all the years I'd spend at Hogwarts, 1994 would be the only one we don't bag the Quidditch cup - when it's actually awarded.
Yoana May 29th, 2009, 11:08 am I'd be in the year after Ginny, so I suppose I'd know most of the HP kid characters. I'd study under the Professors we meet in the books and I'd be a 5th year under Snape's rule and at the time of the war (so I guess no OWLs for me).
Gaian May 29th, 2009, 1:57 pm What a fun idea for a thread! :) Though I'd have to move to the UK first before I'd be allowed to go. ;)
I didn't consider that. Then, living in the French-speaking area of Switzerland, I'd have been a Beauxbâtons Academy of Magic student, not in Fleur's year, but still with Madame Maxime as Headmistress. :D
meesha1971 May 29th, 2009, 9:41 pm I would have been starting Hogwarts the first year after Harry defeated Lord Voldemort...
How ironic. So would I - the first time Harry defeated Voldemort as a baby that is. ;)
I would have been at Hogwarts from 1982 to 1989 - the same as Bill Weasley. I would have been in third year when Charlie started in 1984 and sixth year when Percy started in 1987. I'd probably have been sorted into Gryffindor and Dumbledore would have been my headmaster.
I think 1982 would have been an interesting year because it was the first full school year after Voldemort fell. People would probably still be talking about it and there would be a lot of curiosity as to what had happened to "The Boy Who Lived".
MandyB May 29th, 2009, 11:25 pm I would have turned 11 in 1998. But my birthday is in October, so I'd assume my first year would be 99-00.
Nobody of real significance graduates the year I start.
Dennis Creevey would graduate when I'm a Second Year.
Abercrombie and Zeller would graduate when I'm a Third Year.
Everything else is pretty much up in the air after that. I'd assume that someone's kids would also be around in the next four years (my last year would be 05-06), but I don't know.
LysandersGirl May 30th, 2009, 3:10 am Well, sadly. If I was at Hogwarts, they'd be filming the movies. But maybe I'd get to be an extra in some scenes!
Puppet_Master May 30th, 2009, 3:21 am Yay
Harry, Ron and Hermione are close to my age, and I have probably the same age than the twins Fred and George?
So I would have been class mate of the twins Fred and George, two years or three years after Harry, Ron and Hermione.
I would have had the same professors, Snape (urrg) Umbridge (urrg), Lupin, McGonagall, all that.
Probably met Harry, Ron and Hermione in the Great Hall or Quiditch games.
If I am good in Math XD I am not mistaken.
Mr_P_N_Gwyne June 1st, 2009, 10:27 am I was 11 in 1991 so I guess I'm one of Harry's contemporaries. I would have been sorted into Ravenclaw (I'm witty and smart) which is why you don't hear about me in the books. LOL . I kept my head down, studied hard, and just tried to stay alive.

hestiajones June 1st, 2009, 12:34 pm I would have been at Hogwarts from 1997-2004. Sir I would have got the letter when the war was either going on or had got over. Wow! I would have missed all the action but i would have attended school in more peaceful times...
(quite an overdose of "would have" there)
ally_xx June 2nd, 2009, 1:02 am I would have been at Hogwarts from 1997-2004. Sir I would have got the letter when the war was either going on or had got over. Wow! I would have missed all the action but i would have attended school in more peaceful times...

I think when you first started it would have been an very emotional first year with everything that had happened previously.
Sheree June 2nd, 2009, 3:36 am I would have started in 1997, which means I'd have been sent to Azkaban until Harry and the others managed to clean up the Ministry and get my fellow students and myself out.
Then, I probably would have completely given up magic and refused to have anything to do with those crazy nutcases ever again. It's really tragic when you think of all those innocent little kids who were treated so badly for just being born the way they were.
dobby_rocks June 2nd, 2009, 3:49 am That’s another thing we really don’t know how old the other Weasley Grandchildren are as far as we know Bill and Fleur's eldest daughter is the first grandchild. Where the other grandkids are age wise in relation to Harry and Ginny / Hermione and Ron’s children we don’t really know. It certainly possible that say when Al and Rose are starting school that maybe Dominique is 5th or 6th year. Louis 3rd or 4th year, Fred is 2nd year etc.
Hestiajones if you did start in 1997 then you would have been there during the year that took place in DH 1997 – 1998 school year. It certainly would have been a rather exciting and probably even scary first year. What with death eaters as teachers, having the kids use the two of the unforgivable curses on fellow students. If you were muggle born or could not proof your wizaridng blood you’d be on the run.
hestiajones June 2nd, 2009, 5:01 am
I think when you first started it would have been an very emotional first year with everything that had happened previously.
i agree it would have been more emotional, but the fear of voldemort would have gone away. and the whole thing about locking up muggle-born students would be no longer there. so, well, "peaceful". but i think i could have caught a glimpse of hermione! she did go back to complete her studies, didn't she?

If I remember correctly, JK said that Hermione did go back and finish her studies :)

Of course she needed her Newts :p
celtics543 June 3rd, 2009, 4:16 am I was eleven by Sept. 1st of 1999, which I believe would put in the very first year after the battle. I would've been a first year for Ginny, Luna, etcs. last year. So pretty much everyone we met in the series that was younger than the trio would have gone to school with me. But other than that, I don't think any of the next generation would be there with me. I bet the tales of harry, ron, and hermione would have been amazing.
cardinalguy June 3rd, 2009, 4:34 am I was eleven by Sept. 1st of 1999, which I believe would put in the very first year after the battle. You're off by a year. The battle was in May 1998, so you just missed them.
dobby_rocks June 13th, 2009, 10:35 am So you’d been the class that replaced the class of 1999 which included Luna, Ginny , Hermione etc. Dennis Creevy would have been in his 5th year when you entered. Its possible Draco wife would have been there with you.
Smartwitch15 June 14th, 2009, 6:24 pm It was the year 2001 when I was 11 years old ... so I'm not sure! Maybe Harry's kids? I'm no good at math :(
I probably would go to school with Teddy Lupin, but I think he would be a year younger than me.... sorry... that was quick math so it might not be correct.
LyraLovegood June 14th, 2009, 6:53 pm I keep mentioning the two little witches on toy broomsticks and the boy who engorged the slug at the World Quidditch Match to these kids who went to Hogwarts from 2001 to 2007, but they seem consistently unimpressed!
fuzzyfeet123 June 24th, 2009, 2:48 am I dunno who I'd be with, I'd start 2008/2009 and graduate 2015/2016. I know I missed the trio's kids by a year.
KDrake June 24th, 2009, 3:05 am Hm, let's see now....I turned 11 in October of 2000, meaning that I wouldn't have left for Hogwarts until September 2001. So I would have showed up on the 3rd September after The Battle of Hogwarts. That makes me pretty sad...I'd never have had Snape. :'( Now I kind of wish I hadn't even figured that out....woe is me.
eatus_Benevol1 June 24th, 2009, 3:57 am This is a fascinating and fun thing to research. I would have started Hogwarts in 1969 - the year Arthur Weasley and Molly Prewett eloped. I would have been one year ahead ( and thus older) than Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Lily Evans and Severus Snape. Charley Weasley was born in my 4th year and Nymphadora Tonks would have been born my 5th year. My final year would have been the year James Potter humiliated Severus Snape by dangling him upside down. I most likely would have been in Gryffindor but would have found James Potter rather boorish. I probably would have been friends with Lily Evans, even though she was a year behind me.
magic_is_might June 24th, 2009, 4:31 am I would've been at Hogwarts from 2003-2010 I think (i turned 11 in Feb, 2003).
I missed all of the exciting stuff :(
It makes me sad when I think about where I was when Harry Potter started his adventures. I was just born when Harry was in his 2nd year, so I would've missed anything that went on in his life when I compare it to myself.
Montse June 25th, 2009, 11:33 pm Nice thread!
I dont know, YOu tell me, cause I absolutely suck at math.
I guess at least one weasley would have been around and maybe even Harry. I would have started 1987.
cardinalguy June 25th, 2009, 11:56 pm Nice thread!
I dont know, YOu tell me, cause I absolutely suck at math.
I guess at least one weasley would have been around and maybe even Harry. I would have started 1987.
Born between Sept. 1975 and Aug. 1976, I presume. Same year as Percy Weasley.
There's an easy method to finding your year; find your 11th birthday, then skip ahead to the following Sept.
Example: I was born Nov. 1983. My 11th birthday was Nov. 1994. The following Sept. would be Sept. 1995. Thus, I would have started Hogwarts in 1995 (stuck with Umbridge for DADA, :grumble:)
My roommate was born April 1983. His 11th birthday was April 1994. The following Sept was Sept 1994. Thus, he started Hogwarts in 1994 (same as Dennis Creevey).
AlexisMalfoy June 26th, 2009, 12:02 am I would've begun Hogwarts in 2000, so none of my classmates would've been anyone we know of. Womp.
Montse June 26th, 2009, 2:33 am Born between Sept. 1975 and Aug. 1976, I presume. Same year as Percy Weasley
Same year, same day. I had forgotten about him.
This means I would have been in Percy´s year and I might have even known Harry and Hermione and Ron. They would have entered Hogwarts when I entered my 5th year.
Cool!:)
dobby_rocks June 26th, 2009, 6:51 am Well Fuzzyfeet you’d be there with Teddy though you would be a year ahead of him. You would be two years ahead of Victoria. If you left in 2015 or 2016 you would see some more of the second generation. It’s possible you’d be a 6th or 7th year during James Potter’s first year. Even possible some of the other Weasley grandchildren seeing that we don’t really know how old the others are at the time of the epilogue.
If I am correct Montse you would been in your 4th year when Harry and gang started and your last year would have been 1994(GOF) Percy would have been in your year and the twins would have been two years behind you.
cardinalguy June 26th, 2009, 9:02 pm If I am correct Montse you would been in your 4th year when Harry and gang started and your last year would have been 1994(GOF) Percy would have been in your year and the twins would have been two years behind you.
Last year would have been PoA, not GoF. Percy was working for the ministry in GoF (Weatherby, anyone?)
halfbloodsnape June 26th, 2009, 10:54 pm *shares a birthday with halfbloodsnape* That makes us birthday buds! Woot!
:clap::clap::clap:
Great!
You're a Ravenclaw if I'm not mistaken. I almost ended up one:whistle:, I was deemed a Gryffinclaw.
However, I believe we'd meet in Dumbledore's Army anyways.:eyebrows:
Freak of nature June 27th, 2009, 9:20 pm Heh, this is fun. I was 11 in 1996. And I am a little math challenged. :D So I am never too sure what happened and when.

Before or after September? Before puts you starting during DH; after puts you in the first class after the final battle.
Freak of nature June 27th, 2009, 9:44 pm I am born in August the third, so Snape would have been my headmaster. Wicked.
ElfTail June 27th, 2009, 10:04 pm Not really a lot of people for me, I would have started in the 2005/06 year. I think that then when I'm in my fifth year Teddy Lupin would join and maybe in my seventh year Victoire Weasley joins. Overall though, I'm a bit too old for the next generation.

Fourth and sixth year, I think, actually; Teddy starts in 2009 and Victoire in 2011.
eaglestreasure June 28th, 2009, 12:53 am I asked a Mod where to put this, but I'm still not absolutely sure it belongs in the Cloak.
I despise math so much!!!
All I know is that I would be WAY after the Trio, so speculation about Professors, etc. would be necessary :)
(P.S. For all you awesome really nice people, a calculator for this kind of think would be awesome:cool::tu:)

Birthday before September 1--11th birthday
Birthday after September 1--12th birthday
eaglestreasure June 28th, 2009, 1:05 am Birthday before September 1--11th birthday
Birthday after September 1--12th birthday
Thanks, you're awesome:D
I was actually talking about finding out the Professors you would have had, canon characters you'd have gone to school with, etc.
LyraLovegood June 28th, 2009, 1:39 am Calculators don't show that kind of thing, though; timelines do.
I got my timeline from the Harry Potter wiki, which is easy to look up by googling "harry potter wiki 1990's" to get the 1990 timeling.
It's rather busy, as the series takes place from July 1991 to May 1998, but the 1980's, 1970's, and 1960's ones are easy to read.
And the 2000's are kind of bare, as those are the years between the Final Battle of Hogwarts, VWII, and the Epilogue, which takes place in 2017.
Lily_L_Potter June 28th, 2009, 2:54 am I think that in 2006 I would have been a first year and I'd be either 2 or 3 older than Teddy Lupin. Not much else really...
Ginny_Spinner June 28th, 2009, 4:41 am I turned 11 on Jan 3 2002 so i wud have been there from 2002-2008 ...last year would have been my last :(
i feel SO much younger than Harry was when he defeated Voldy
LyraLovegood June 28th, 2009, 3:28 pm Since EaglesTreasure asked, and since so many people who've posted here went to school after the Trio left but before their kids started, here's the (overly vague) timeling from the wiki I've been using:
June, 1999 - Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood probably leave Hogwarts at this time. Hermione Granger also would have graduated from Hogwarts during this time because her seventh and final year was delayed by the quest for the Horcruxes and the situation at Hogwarts during the 1997-1998 school term. Hermione also took her N.E.W.T.s at this time.
Late '90s or early '00s - Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley are married.
Late '90s or early '00s - Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger are married.
Late '90s or early '00s - George Weasley and Angelina Johnson are married.
Late '90s or early '00s - Percy Weasley marries Audrey.
Late '90s or early '00s - Draco Malfoy and Astoria Greengrass are married.
Late '90s or early '00s - Neville Longbottom and Hannah Abbott are married.
Late '90s or early '00s - Cho Chang marries a Muggle man.
Early or late '00s - Luna Lovegood and Rolf Scamander are married, "rather later" than her friends' marriages.[1]
Late '90s-'10s - Ron Weasley leaves Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes to work as an Auror.
Late '90s-'10s - Hermione Granger transfers from the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
Early '00s - Ginny Weasley retires from playing Quidditch for the Holyhead Harpies to have a family and work for the Daily Prophet.
2007 - Harry Potter becomes head of the Auror Office.
September 1, 2009 - Teddy Lupin starts his education at Hogwarts.
c. 2011-2012 - Victoire Weasley starts her education at Hogwarts.
'00s or '10s - Neville Longbottom becomes Professor of Herbology at Hogwarts.
June, 2016 - Teddy finishes his education at Hogwarts.
More about weddings than about Hogwarts, you see, and it doesn't even tell when Neville became Herbology Professor. :(
LordThingy June 28th, 2009, 7:52 pm I would have started in the 2002/2003 school year... so i don't think i would have been with any of the characters. I would have missed Teddy Lupin by one year.
JJFinch June 29th, 2009, 3:22 pm I'd be almost finished in the sixth year right now. Teddy Lupin would, if my mental maths is correct, be a first year right now. None of the other Next Generation kids would have started yet. If Victoire is in the year below Teddy, she'll be starting next year, when I'm a seventh year. :)

Hold on - you're 18 so you must be in the year group above me, which means you are currently a seventh year at Hogwarts. If the above part of my post is correct then you will have this one year with him (the academic year which is coming to an end). :)

Thanks a billion:lol:
I would have started, err, 2005?
Or maybe 2006. I can't do math -- but I was born September 15, 1994, so I'm probably past the deadline:relax:
Raffaello June 29th, 2009, 4:42 pm I was 11 in 1982...soo..I dunno
phishychan June 29th, 2009, 4:47 pm I would've started in 2006 (My birthday is after the start of the school year) Though i turned 11 in 2005
If my math is correct (Advanced Math courses, don't fail me now!) I'd be in my third year of Hogwarts:D
... To think, I might've been in Hogsmeade enjoying a Butterbeer yesterday, instead of doing MUGGLE stuff... :sigh:
I was 11 in 1982...soo..I dunno
It depends on if you were eleven before or after September 1st...
Before, you'd have started in 1983, 3 years after Harry was born
After, you'd have started in 1982, you guessed it, 2 years after Harry was born.
Regardless, You've graduated
LyraLovegood June 29th, 2009, 10:18 pm I'd be almost finished in the sixth year right now. Teddy Lupin would, if my mental maths is correct, be a first year right now. Nah, Teddy starts his first year on Sept. 1, 2009, and Victoire is two years below him.
malfoy96 June 30th, 2009, 9:06 am I would've started in 2007 so I attend from 2007-2013 since I'm born on 5th April 1996.
Ren Shacklebot June 30th, 2009, 2:42 pm What an interesting topic! I was 11 in 1996 so I would have been a 1st year when Harry and company were in their 6th years at Hogwarts. That means I would have been there for the first Death Eater attack on Hogwarts! I would have been a 2nd year during the events of Deathly Hallows -- my poor 12 year old self would have probably been absolutely terrified!
imacheeto June 30th, 2009, 5:15 pm k well im 14 so id be there right now going into my fourth year. so idk who would be in my class or who'd be teaching except neville would maybe be my herbology proffesor. so if harry was born in 1980 he defeated voldy in DH in 1997 when i was 2. so i guess right now harry would be 29 and married to Ginny with his kids. but if the epilogue takes place 19 years after the end of the series then i guess theyre pretty small. Albus would be 4 right now and lily would be 2. so id definitly have graduated by the time james joined and since thh's the oldest of all the next generation id be before any of the new potters or weasleys. but teddy would be 2 years younger than me so he'd be going into his 2nd year.
LyraLovegood June 30th, 2009, 5:42 pm If you're going to Fourth Year in September, you get to see Teddy Lupin Sorted at the next Feast.
And you'll see Victoire Weasley sorted a couple years later.
Neville Longbottom is Herbology Professor, but the rest are pretty much up to speculation. I'm sure at least a few of the Professors Harry had are still there; they couldn't all have hit retirement age at the same time! Trelawny I always assumed was fairly young, so she's probably still there, and I don't think we have any hint of how old Professors Vector, Sinistra or the Ancient Runes professor are. I can't even remember even hearing a name for the A. R. teacher, come to that.
Oh, and Binns the ghost teacher is probably still droning on in History of Magic.
Unless McGonagall had the sense to sack him and get one of those rare and wonderful teachers who know how to make history interesting even for teenagers!
dumbledores1fan June 30th, 2009, 7:20 pm I believe I would've started in 2006. Curses, I'm not quite sure who I would be with. :grumble: I only know that I would be in Gryffindor. Maybe I'd be with Harry and Ginny's kids. Maybe Ron and Hermione's too.
darkruler101 June 30th, 2009, 8:03 pm I would be a 7th year and since the year is 2009. It would be about 12 years after the defeat of voldemort, so that would mean none of Harry's kids would be there yet. But teddy would be only 12 and in his second year. Ah, nothing like the last year of Hogwarts.
LyraLovegood June 30th, 2009, 8:40 pm I believe I would've started in 2006. Curses, I'm not quite sure who I would be with. :grumble: I only know that I would be in Gryffindor. Maybe I'd be with Harry and Ginny's kids. Maybe Ron and Hermione's too.
Not a chance, as the kids we see starting Hogwarts in the epilogue were born in 2006, and start Hogwarts in 2017.
Moar dates from the wiki, as births are a separate category from the "events" I quoted previously:
Ron and Hermione Weasley's Children
Rose Weasley is born c. 2006.
Hugo Weasley is born c. 2008.
Harry and Ginny Potter's Children
James Sirius Potter is born between 2002 and 2005.
Albus Severus Potter is born c. 2006.
Lily Luna Potter is born c. 2008.
Draco and Astoria Malfoy's Child
Scorpius Malfoy is born c. 2006.

Thanks! Darn, now I wonder who I would have gone to Hogwarts with! :grumble:
Emmarific July 1st, 2009, 4:01 pm I would have started in 1999 I believe. This math is more difficult than I originally envisioned! XD So I would have gone to school with the likes of... Romilda Vane, maybe? Those who were first years when Harry was a first year?
Now if I could CHOOSE when...it would definitely be in the same time period as Bellatrix / Tom Riddle. I'm fascinated. :D
GinevraWPotter July 1st, 2009, 4:24 pm Lol, awesome......I would have started attending Hogwarts in Sept 1997, well maybe not even, as I'm not aware of any other witches or wizards in my family, so my muggle born self probably would have missed that year :(
imacheeto July 2nd, 2009, 3:56 am If you're going to Fourth Year in September, you get to see Teddy Lupin Sorted at the next Feast.

awesome! the only flaw is that im american so id go to some US school. i doubt any school, even in the awesome country of america could be as awesome as hogwarts.
Outnitwit July 2nd, 2009, 4:11 am The way I understand it works, I was born in September so I would have been in the same place as Hermione, only a couple weeks away from being twelve when I went (how unfair that we basically have to wait a whole extra year!).....so I would have began Hogwarts in September 2000.
And still at Hogwarts then.....might be Dennis Creevy? Anyone else still in fourth year or below in Deathly Hallows.
LyraLovegood July 2nd, 2009, 5:37 pm No, I think Dennis was in Hogwarts from 09/1993-05/2000.
Unless he had to repeat his fifth year due to the Death-Eater takeover of Hogwarts in 1997. I still want to know exactly what happened to the Muggleborn wizards who actually signed the register instead of trying to invent pure bloodlines. Killed, imprisoned, or just oppressed?
Dirigible_plums July 2nd, 2009, 6:47 pm I'm going into my sixth year...
that means I started in 2004 (I think) so I might overlap with Teddys first few years.
Karleecakes July 2nd, 2009, 7:37 pm I would have started in 2003, I'm terribad at math so I have no idea who I'd go to school with.
If I could choose though, I'd definitely have wanted to go to school with the Marauders. I love me some Remus Lupin ;3
YellowBrickRoad July 2nd, 2009, 7:55 pm I would have started in 2001, unfortunatly, I wouldn'y be attending with anyone.
Callicantzari July 2nd, 2009, 8:16 pm I was born in December '81 so I guess I'd have come in the year after Harry and company. (Depending on how they do cut-off dates). I wonder who I'd have been friends with.
cardinalguy July 2nd, 2009, 11:41 pm No, I think Dennis was in Hogwarts from 09/1993-05/2000.

Dennis actually started in 1994.
I was born in December '81 so I guess I'd have come in the year after Harry and company. (Depending on how they do cut-off dates). I wonder who I'd have been friends with.
The cut-off date is September 1, so you would have been 2 years behind Harry (dementors first year, yay).
red_fairy July 3rd, 2009, 6:29 am I would have started in 1997, so my first year would have been the year the Carrows ran Hogwarts :( which would probably be intimidating and scary for a little kid to go through. I would have gone with everyone in Harry's year and below in the books. I think I would have either been in Hufflepuff or Slytherin.
9th_Wonder July 3rd, 2009, 6:33 am I would have left my own legacy at Hogwarts from 2003 to 2010  ;)
ally_xx July 3rd, 2009, 6:36 am I would have been there from 2000 to 2007, pretty sure nothing too spectacular happened during that time lol. But it would have been fun all the same :)
Hes July 3rd, 2009, 12:25 pm I've deleted a considerable number of posts. Please remember that this is not a thread for chatting. If you discuss your possible years at Hogwarts some canon should feature in the discussion.
If you want to chat you can either visit the chat threads in the Quidditch Pitch or go to the Hogwarts Common Room.
GinnyBibble42 July 7th, 2009, 8:00 pm Let's see...I was born in December '93, so I would have started in September '05. I would finish my seventh year in May '12. I think I would see Teddy Lupin sorted at the beginning of my fifth year. I would possibly see Victoire Weasley in my sixth or seventh year. I think I would miss anyone Harry would have known at Hogwarts by a year or two. This math gets more complicated than I thought!
theprince18 July 7th, 2009, 8:24 pm I was born in January 1991 so my first year would have been in 2002. That would be 4 years after the fall of Voldemort. I would have been sorted into Gryffindor and get very good grades in DADA(my favorite class), Charms, History of Magic(if I'm not bored to death by Binns), Potions, Herbology(Professor Longbottom would be my favorite teacher) and Transfiguration. Professor Slughorn would recognize my talents and put me in the Slug Club. By my third year, I would be in the classes of Arithmancy(I love math), Care of Magical Creatures(interesting), and Muggle Studies. By my 5th year, I would have 10 OWLS (5 Outstanding, 5 Exceeds Expectations) and be a Prefect for Gryffindor house. In my seventh year, I would have 7 NEWTS (6 Outstanding, 1 Exceeds Expectations), but would miss out by a year on the sorting of Teddy Lupin.
Siriusly_C July 8th, 2009, 1:15 am Well i'd be an exchange student from the US, and I would've gone to Hogwarts in 2005. Teddy Lupin would be a first year when I was a fourth year, and Victoire Weasly would be a first year when I was in sixth year. I would be in seventh year in 2012.
Raffaello July 8th, 2009, 3:06 am I would've started in 2006 (My birthday is after the start of the school year) Though i turned 11 in 2005

Yeah I'd be long gone outta there. Ummm after Sept. so 1983 I'd have started. no clue which house I'd have ended up in, probably hufflepuff...
today..im evil...
CARROLiZER July 8th, 2009, 12:42 pm Well, my first year would started 2001 and end 2008, and I would be in Slytherin.
That's everything I know.
BubblyShell22 July 17th, 2009, 10:00 pm I was born on February 2, 1983, which would make me start Hogwarts in 1994. That means I would see the Triwizard Tournament in my first year, see Umbridge's horrible reign of terror in my second year, deal with Dumbledore's death at the end of my third year, have to endure the terror of the events of DH in my fourth year, and then peace and quiet for my fifth, sixth and seventh years.
I'd be with the Trio up until my fourth year, but still be with Ginny and Neville, so I'd probably help with the resistance. Other than that, I'm not sure what I'd do after Voldy's downfall except relax.
Badgers_Rule July 18th, 2009, 10:20 pm I would have started in the Mauraders last year and graduated in Bills second year.
Spinners_End7 July 18th, 2009, 10:42 pm Born in 1993.
So I would have started in 2004, end in 2010...
So I'd be in... 6th year when Teddy Lupin starts.
I think.
envisionlfe July 18th, 2009, 11:37 pm I was born in mid September of 1989, so I would have missed the cut off for 2000. Thus I would have started in '01. I would have finished last year, '08.
nina__ August 3rd, 2009, 4:19 pm I was eleven in 2004. I would have missed all the exciting stuff
echo1034 August 3rd, 2009, 4:49 pm Let's see... my birthday is near the later end of September so I probably would have to wait an additional year before attending. That being said, I started school early here in the US because of where my birthday lies, so I will go with the hope of starting at Hogwarts early as well. xD
I would have started in the September of 1996 under that idea, then. At least I hope so. xD I would have started during Harry's sixth year, during the events of the HBP, Voldy declaring himself, and only having Dumbledore as headmaster for a year. Sadly he dies at the end of my first year at Hogwarts. D: Noooo!!
But! I would be a second year during Voldy's reign over the wizarding world of Britain. I would hope I don't get sent to Azkaban for being a muggle born wizard... but I can safely say that I would have joined and helped the DA in any way possible, despite my age. :P Hey, Harry was doing battle with giant man-eating snakes in his second year. Why can't I fight Death Eaters and ridiculous amounts of homework? ;) hehe
Sadly, the last several years won't be nearly as epic as my first two, but they should be fun nonetheless. :D I would graduate in 2003, just when I graduated high school.
Rachelleah August 3rd, 2009, 5:34 pm I'd have started in 2006 . . . and ended in 2013 . . . oh, why . . . .
captain_mills August 3rd, 2009, 5:44 pm I was born in 1975, so I'd have been 11 in 1986 and finished in 1994...
y'all sorted me into Ravenclaw, and I don't know who else would have been in Ravenclaw during that time... but I know that Bill, Charlie, and Percy would have been there, and it was mentioned that Tonks would have been as well.
I also would have been at school with the "trio" for my last three years...
Who else would have been there that we know of?
CMills
Ilysia August 3rd, 2009, 6:33 pm I would have started same year as Harry, Hermione and Ron
lovehedwig August 3rd, 2009, 10:32 pm I would have started my first year in 2004 and end in 2011 (coincidentally the year I would graduate high school).
Hm...not much going on. Too bad. No exciting stuff. :( hahaha
Sorafune August 4th, 2009, 12:45 am I was born September 23 1986 so I would have started Hogwarts in 1998 and missed out on all the fun :grumble:
Unless people from Sweden are sent off to Durmstrang or any other school that's out there.

Also I Would Like To Know More About Dumbledore And His History At Hogwarts .. If i Was At Hogwarts I Would Be In Gryffindor . I Would Be One Of Those Students That Does Not Study That Much I Would Be Like The Twins Wesleys For The 1996 And On Years
LoonyLoonyLupin August 4th, 2009, 11:10 pm In 1997, I was eleven years old. So I guess I'd be going to Hogwarts with Harry and co. Go me!
Jezabel August 6th, 2009, 7:27 am Oh to be at Hogwarts... :D
I was 11 in 1997 so I would have been in Fred and George's year :D and 2 years ahead of Harry and co. :)
I'm pretty sure I would have been in Ravenclaw because I love to read and learn and if it was magic I was learn I would no doubt study to no end. Nut I also like to go on adventures, cause some mischief and have some fun so I've got that Gryffindor daring nerve ;)
