Moriath May 17th, 2009, 12:09 am Welcome to the 16th version of the HBP movie thread!
Discuss trailers, clips, general news and other things related to the upcoming HBP film here!
[edit] The version 14 is here (http://www.cosforums.com/showthread.php?t=119224) and version 15 has been eaten by nargles. Fortunately, ArryGrotter just updated this thread yesterday morning: The All-Inclusive HBP List. (http://www.cosforums.com/showthread.php?t=117938)
Lately we've had some trouble with off-topic posts and snarkiness. Please read How to have a pleasant conversation on any topic (http://www.cosforums.com/showthread.php?t=104230) before posting in this thread. Off-topic posts are posts that do not discuss the HBP movie but other movies, thread logistics, the posting behaviour of other members etc. There won't be in-thread warnings on every page of this version of the thread. Repeat offenders will find themselves temporarily removed from Muggle Studies and off-topic posts will be deleted without previous warning.
It's not exciting from the point of view its a mix from previous posters. But, like boushh, I do really like the design and style of placement for the characters in relation to their actions and roles in film.
I quite like the idea of combining the characters in this way - it makes for a change for the stupid 'floating head' posters that are used for so many films (HP is generally a laudable exception)..... and the combination here is clever.
But I don't like the shots of Snape and especially Draco they used. Draco looks demented. It's quite possible that he is supposed to be demented in this shot, and it could be perfectly good in context - but it sort of doesn't work on a poster. IMHO.
And I wish they'd finally go easy on this green filter. Enough already!
'floating head' I agree that it's a good way of combining these characters. I like that Snape is hanging back yet featured in the middle... I also kind of like that it almost looks like he's looking at Harry here...
Really? I think it works, personally. That poster of Snape and Draco is one of my favorites so far. :) I think Draco looks like he's up to no good, which is true in the context of the film, even if he is struggling with it. Snape looks like he's keeping tabs or following Draco, and in this combo poster (whether it's real or not) it looks like Snape is keeping an eye on both of them, and I really like that because it's true.
Go on with the discussion. :)
ArryGrotter May 17th, 2009, 12:20 am Another thread :wow:
Ok, so is this new poster (link for convenience: http://www.shockya.com/news/2009/05/15/new-international-poster-from-harry-potter-and-the-half-blood-prince/) the same on that Okrim reported that should be coming this week? :hmm:
MasterOfDeath May 17th, 2009, 12:21 am Another thread :wow:
Ok, so is this new poster the same on that Okrim reported that should be coming this week? :hmm:
I hope not...I really don't think so. The international poster is usually different from the teaser and character posters..
Version 16! Wow...A year ago, we were at version 6!
We don't stop moving, do we?
ArryGrotter May 17th, 2009, 12:39 am Regarding the poster again. I can live with it - but I do think it could be better....
And also I'm guessing that the prediction TLC made of a new TV spot with GoF tonight was false? I think we'll get only 1 TV spot a week anyway...
Does anyone remember which version we were at on November 21?

IMO it just looks like a photoshopped poster. If that was legit, I would be pretty upset.
mexicant May 17th, 2009, 2:09 am Wow. First page and already several off-topic posts. Which I have deleted.
Please read the entirety of the opening post.
vampiricduck May 17th, 2009, 2:30 am While I agree with boushh from the last thread that the poster shows Draco as being up to no good, I can't say that I like the poster. I love the caption line, and in French it's just great because it sounds so mysterious,, but generally speaking I'm not sure that the dominance of Harry's face compared to Draco's entire body suits. Snape's lurking in the background, which is fair and foul in my opinion; it's correct generally, but he seems overshadowed by the imbalance of the other two people involved.
I suppose, you could say, that my gripe is with the lack of symmetry and the dispersal of light that doesn't quite fit the bill for me. But then, you know, I'm picky. :D
ArryGrotter May 17th, 2009, 2:47 am I love the caption line, and in French it's just great because it sounds so mysterious,
Can you read French? Can you translate please? :D
and... another TV spot! :wow: http://www.snitchseeker.com/harry-potter-news/third-half-blood-prince-tv-advert-airs-64431/
This one looks to have more new footage :tu:
vampiricduck May 17th, 2009, 3:00 am Sure thing. :)
In French it says, "Pour Connaitre le futur, il faut chercher dans la passe".
It means "To know the future, it is necessary to look into the past".
I suppose you could also say that "il faut" means "one must", but the message is nonetheless quite clear. :D I presume it refers to the memories Harry sees.
boushh May 17th, 2009, 3:02 am I saw what looked to be the first TV spot during Goblet of Fire earlier... around 9:15pm...
Maybe they'll show another one later? I should go back and keep watching...

Well, actually, it's the third, not the first
Hopefully this should be up soon (perhaps when people in later timezones are watching and know of it?) :tu:
Edit: I've just been reading some comments elsewhere and I think I understand you now: They played the first one earlier? Then they played a new one? :hmm:

And it spoils alot.
It seems Hagrid's line must have been cut out of the test screening. I'm glad they've included that.
MasterOfDeath May 17th, 2009, 3:18 am :wow: Don't tell me they show Dumbledore's death in the TV spot!
Harry getting hit by a bludger is in?! I thought there was only one Qudditch match in the film, hmmm..ALOT has obviously been added since the test-screening...I'm so happy about Hagrid's line from the end being in! This means, Hagrid just might be in or his near his hut when it is burning!
Btw, I'm watching GOF now. It's the third task. I've been watching since Harry asked Cho out to the ball and haven't seen any TV spot...

Wow, uhm...SPOILERS! I can't believe it! Are you serious?! They are showing Dumbledore's death and a line related to such in a TV Spot? Oh brother, I know almost the entire world probably already knew "Snape Kills Dumbledore" by now but still, it seems a bit much... :relax:
And that bit where Harry is hit by Cormac with a bludger is very interesting. That wasn't part of the leaked quidditch script so they didn't like combine scenes. Must have added in another game, hmm. And I'm very angry and sad to discover v15 was deleted... :upset: :grumble:
Well, regardless I hope this (and the AMC preview) show up online soon
MasterOfDeath May 17th, 2009, 3:46 am Ok, I saw a HBP TV spot during GOF, but it was just the truncated EPIC trailer one.
And I agree, LC. A spoiler that strong does not belong in a trailer/TV spot...don't they want to build up suspense for the audience that only watches the films?
ArryGrotter May 17th, 2009, 3:51 am I was starting to get skeptical: http://www.snitchseeker.com/harry-potter-news/third-half-blood-prince-tv-advert-airs-64431/#post8186122
no such spot was shown. We dont plan on starting the spots until the beginning if June.
:relax:
yeah, didn't think they'd be another one so soon...
Edit: .......Wait a second!
http://www.snitchseeker.com/harry-potter-news/third-half-blood-prince-tv-advert-airs-64431/#post8186128
BUT they did say that they do have a tv spot like that description in storage. Maybe the person in the recording room Accidently put it on?
*is very confused :hmm:*

And I agree, LC. A spoiler that strong does not belong in a trailer/TV spot...don't they want to build up suspense for the audience that only watches the films?
Yeah, there ARE still some that don't know of the major twist.
Do you think this will spoil it now for your mom, Vince? I suppose the REAL surprise though is in WHO kills Dumbledore. I mean one of the established "rules" of the epic hero's journey says like "the old man dies", right? I found with the book there was a bunch of minor "shocks" (for example- Death Eaters invade Hogwarts) though leading up to that (which have been spoiled in advertising as well)
boushh May 17th, 2009, 3:59 am Well they aired TV spot #1 and #2 during GoF. They did not air the third one, but since that one aired in Australia we may not see it in the US... and I seriously doubt they would show Dumbledore's death. I think they are just teasing the audience with the information that there will be a death of a major player in the film.
ArryGrotter May 17th, 2009, 4:01 am Uh, it aired in australia... I see nothing about it airing here in the US. :p
I think people are confusing this supposed "leaked" one with the old ones showing during GoF in US
MasterOfDeath May 17th, 2009, 4:02 am Yeah, there ARE still some that don't know of the major twist.

Hopefully, my mom won't see this TV spot when watching TV...
She's not familiar with the mythic cycle (not everyone is), she's not really into these types of stories (she can't even sit through LOTR, she finds it too boring and drawn-out). HP is the exception for her. She suspects Dumbledore will die as he is old and that Harry will be the next Dumbledore in terms of power, but you know...speculating is one thing...actually knowing is another.
ArryGrotter May 17th, 2009, 4:06 am the tv spot probably wont have it be that the non-fan can tell who has fallen off the tower and it never actually says it was dumbledore who died...
I doubt we'll see this spot for a few weeks anyway - it was shown hours ago in Australia and probably not again () - the spots'll be showing one new one a week in the US from now one I think... Edit: Snitchseeker just deleted their news post :hmm:

Jeez, I am so confuzzled right now  That link (which I was just viewing minutes ago) has now vanished... :hmm:
Sounds like one hell of a TV spot though. Lots of new stuff, which is always good, IMO. I wonder if and when this will be shown in the US. If I'm understanding right this was leaked in Australia...wasn't meant to be shown until June. I don't know, seems something is fishy here.
MasterOfDeath May 17th, 2009, 4:24 am I found this HBP music video on youtube and wanted to share it with all of you.

It's easily the greatest HP music video I have ever seen. It's beautiful and so emotional, IMO.

snapes_witch May 17th, 2009, 4:32 am the tv spot probably wont have it be that the non-fan can tell who has fallen off the tower and it never actually says it was dumbledore who died...
The only scene relating to Dumbledore's death was Snape saying 'It's over' without the cut of him casting AK. No spoiler IMO.

We're refering to a different TV spot :):
"It stared of with the announcer saying 'This Year on July 15th' and an ariel shot of Hogwarts. It than showed Harry in the Great Hall talking to Hermione saying, 'Ignore her Hermione.' Then it showed Harry and Dumbledore in the cave in the boat sailing across and the announcer saying 'Darkness Will be Everywhere'. Then it had Cormac hitting Harry with the Bludger in Quidditch and Harry falling of his broom. After that it had Death Eaters coming out of the Cupboard. Than it cut to Dumbledore flying of the Astronomy tower. Than we had Hagrid saying 'No he can't be dead Harry, He can't be'. Then it cut to the Half-Blood Prince Logo. Then it had Ron Saying 'Who Won?' Than it said July 15th."
decarus May 17th, 2009, 4:52 am So did i miss a new tv spot and it has now vanished? It sounds exciting too. Does anyone have a different link?
boushh May 17th, 2009, 4:53 am So did i miss a new tv spot and it has now vanished? It sounds exciting too. Does anyone have a different link?
A description was posted, but not the actual TV spot. There is some debate on whether it actually aired or not, apparently.
merrymarge May 17th, 2009, 5:13 am Are there any HBP posters available for sale in stores? I was able to get an OotP poster at my local K-Mart either before the movie came out or shortly afterwars. Right now, I have two posters: GOF and the OotP one.

It might be too early for that stuff... I haven't seen those types of things in the regular stores yet.
AccioHP May 17th, 2009, 5:24 am Wow, I can't believe they would show Dumbledore flying off the Astronomy tower! And then having Hagrid say that line. People who don't know the story will obviously know what is happening now. Im shocked they would show that.
I mean, they could have Hagrid saying that line in the tv spot, and not show Dumbledore flying off the tower. Even though viewers would find out someone may die or died, it would keep them guessing who it is.
I think they showed too much in this
Edit: The poster looks good too.
Can't believe this is the 16th version of the thread. But 15 is lost

What I was trying to say before is that they probably had a shot of someone flying of a tower and since the reporter was a fan they knew it was Dumbledore, but people who don't know wouldn't know, so I think it's fine.

Great find, MoD! :tu: This rivals the fan vid I found of Star Wars months ago. Love the song lyrics, I think they're so fitting
And that vid (along with Arry's as-of vids) does strangely increase my anticipation for this film. There sure are some creative fans...the effects did make me a bit "cross-eyed" though, as they said mentioned it might  I'd caution anyone with epilepsy to not watch that ;)

OK, I saw a commercial on Grey's Anatomy Thursday night and two on the GoF movie on ABC and that wasn't one of them. At least I don't remember it!!
Yeah, that does give a lot away.
Kanksha May 17th, 2009, 8:38 am Saw the All_inclusive List again, and I'm more excited for this movie now than I've been for the last five put together! Which is really saying a lot 'cause I wasn't any less excited for the previous movies
I'm very intrigued by the Virgin Media preview:
If you thought that you knew everything about Harry Potter then think again, producers have hinted that some new revelations about the boy wizard will be revealed in the closing minutes of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! Ooooh...
What could this be? Something they've added after the test screenings? Something we thought they had cut but they secretly let it be in?
I wouldn't have thought it possible but this makes me even more excited!! :D
Hysteria May 17th, 2009, 11:59 am Wait this latest TV spot supposedly was aired in Australia? I find that extremely hard to believe (being someone who lives in Aust.)
ThaiHPFan May 17th, 2009, 2:00 pm This new TV spot description sounds kinda fake. Too many new scenes (especially ones fans want to see, but I doubt they would actually spoil everything just like that), things that are NOT likely to be included, and the narration also sounds really weird. Not to mention that Snitchseeker has deleted the news already.
Perhaps it's just some fans having too much free time (again).:relax:
Sacred_Memories May 17th, 2009, 2:20 pm As we all know, Dumbledore's funeral has been cut and they have created another scene for his death. To the people who know what it is, do you like it?
Personally, I was surprised at how poetic and beautiful the scene was. I'm satisfied.
ThaiHPFan May 17th, 2009, 5:16 pm I still think that the funeral will be included (perhaps as flashback or an opening scene) somehow in DH since they need to explain where Dumbledore's tomb is. Also, when David Heyman was asked at the test screening about why the funeral is cut, he just said that "I think we've come up with the right ending for the film", but did not give any specific reason (like he did with other scenes such as the Hogwarts battle). So I'm not that disappointed with them cutting the funeral (NOT YET anyway:p).
Anyway, I like the idea of this new scene they've added, but I think that the quality of this kind of scene will depend mostly on the music, acting, and editing (well the cinematography too, but I'm sure that will be amazing :p), so I'll have to wait until I see the finished version of this scene in order to judge it.
lcbaseball22 May 18th, 2009, 2:21 am Well, I am still confused about this TV spot that supposedly aired in Australia...but there are reports of a 3rd TV spot here in the US
During Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on ABC and The Simpsons on FOX this evening, a third TV spot for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince aired.
In the new commercial, MuggleNet reader Maggie tells us they "showed some new clips with Draco and Bellatrix. It was pretty short, but there was one really cool part were Bellatrix whispers into Draco's ear 'Finish the deed'." MuggleNet reader Danny saw the same commercial, and he said it included new shots of Draco running down a hall.
Two other MuggleNet readers, Babbity Rabbity and Joel, tell us they saw presumably the same commercial during The Simpsons.
http://www.mugglenet.com/app/news/full_story/2399
Another brand new TV ad for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has just aired during the Simpsons tonight on FOX. TLC readers Ashley and Sarah write the ad featured Bellatrix (Helena Bonham Carter) whispering to Draco (Tom Felton) "Do the Deed." Other scenes include Snape (Alan Rickman) leading a group of people through the dark hallways, Draco taking his coat off, and Dumbledore speaking to Harry atop the Astronomy tower, noting he is 'the chosen one.'
http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/2009/5/18/new-half-blood-prince-tv-spot-on-fox-do-the-deed
EDIT:
According to Snitchseeker, they will have the video available in a few minutes
No mistakes this time, a third TV advert for Half-Blood Prince WAS aired earlier this evening on both ABC and Fox networks in the US. The focus of the advert was Draco and Bellatrix, which showed:
Quote:
It had a few new scenes. It kind of focused on Draco. Him walking through the halls all scared and Bellatrix telling him to carry out the deed. I could be wrong but it also looked like it showed more the of the Harry/Ginny kiss.
We will have the video up in a few minutes (it is currently being processed).

AccioHP May 18th, 2009, 3:12 am Wow! Looks really good. I like the Draco parts
At about 14 seconds there is this part where it looks like Draco's hair is blowing in the wind. I wonder whatpart that could be? Maybe when the Death Eaters come out of the cabinet? I don't know why it would look like a gust of wind just came through but maybe to add an effect? lol

I think that is just draco trying to get the cabinet fixed. He is wearing his black suite that he wears when he gets caught for the slugclub party. I think this is the first time we see the cabinet in the film.
It does look like we see more of the Harry/Ginny kiss. They get a little closer each time.
I also saw the last trailer on television during survivor today.
PS. Bellatrix saying 'carry out the deed' is creepy there.
MasterOfDeath May 18th, 2009, 3:40 am Excellent! :tu:
In these short little clips, I can sense the fear, pressure, paranoia and angst that Draco is going through. So so intense and suspenseful! I love Bella whispering into his ear. So devil-like! Dumbledore looks so weak and vulnerable, it's frightening... Tom Felton's performance looks so good, he might move me to tears! I never expected to cry over Draco...but that shot of him walking down the hallway..... :wow: Do you think this is Harry following him to the bathroom before Secumsempra? Then there's another shot of an angst ridden Draco later in the spot, but I can't tell where in the movie it might be. The shot of Dumbledore with the line "you're the chosen one, Harry" has obviously been dubbed as Dumbledore is clearly up on the tower and I doubt he's saying this line there.
I love how we see Hagrid's hut burning, harry running through the weeds, necklace attack, seucmsemptra fight and the bridge collapsing and then the shot of Tom Riddle screaming and the morph into Voldemort. Puts everything in perceptive.
I can't get over this movie, I don't know what it is about it. Every new trailer and spot, I see, there's always something new to gush over.
Magnificent TV spot! :tu:
EDIT: and yes, deacrus, I noticed Harry and Ginny are getting closer with every new trailer/preview/TV spot! We actually see the beginning of the kiss! Getting pretty steamy now ;)
EDIT 2: oh and we now see the camera panning upwards as Bella casts the dark mark! It looks to be slightly in slow motion before the crane...or it might be just me..
AccioHP May 18th, 2009, 3:52 am Excellent! :tu:

I can't get over this movie, I don't know what it is about it. Every new trailer and spot, I see, there's always something new to gush over.
Magnificent TV spot! :tu:
EDIT: and yes, deacrus, I noticed Harry and Ginny are getting closer with every new trailer/preview/TV spot! We actually see the beginning of the kiss! Getting pretty steamy now ;)
EDIT 2: oh and we now see the camera panning upwards as Bella casts the dark mark! It looks to be slightly in slow motion!
Yeah, I think I'm really going to love Draco in this movie. Tom Felton looks like he portrayed him perfectly. I also love the shot of him walking down the hallway and he pulls at his tie. It really shows how scared and paranoid he is. It also looks like there is someone following behinf him so I'm also thinking that that is Harry and I bet Draco is going into the bathroom and that's where he goes to wash his face in the sink. Well we've seen a shot of him looking in the mirror so I;m guessing that's the bathroom. And then after that the Sectumsempra scene will Happen.
Wow, also Bellatrix whispering into his ear 'carry out the deed'... She seems so creepy there. It kind of reminds me of Order of the Phoenix towards the end of the ministry of magic scene where I think it's Voldemort or just an image of voldemort whispering into Harry's ear to use the curse on Bellatrix (I think that's what it was lol i don't remember)
And we definitely saw more of the kiss too.
Now I really still wanna see the latest movie preview.
Also I;m interested in seeing if that other tv spot from Austrailia is actually real.
Phrozenone May 18th, 2009, 3:54 am The shot of Dumbledore on the tower sent a shiver down my spine. At first I thought he was mouthing 'please' but I watched it again and was wrong..I would've really freaked out if he did.
And I get a pan up of sorts with the Dark Mark!!!! It's not THE pan up I've always wanted but close enough lol.
It's so surreal seeing Bellatrix on the tower...I've always imagined her there but never that close to Draco.
It looks like they're going an intense route with him. Good spot!
lcbaseball22 May 18th, 2009, 3:57 am Well, not the best quality yet...hopefully a better version appears which isn't a filming of the television set by video camera
Anyways, not bad. Hard to hear and only a couple new shots far as I can tell, but pretty exciting. Bella's line to Draco is pretty creepy.
I'm still hoping that darn AMC preview surfaces online here soon, despite originally voicing my desire to avoid seeing it.

BRILLIANT observation, Accio! :tu: I thought I was the only one who makes these connections from film to film.
In the last film, it was Voldemort tempting Harry to kill his enemy Bella for killing Sirius.
In HBP, it is Bella encouraging Draco to murder his enemy Dumbledore to keep his family safe.
Ultimately, neither of them are able to do it.
I like it. :tu:
Phrozenone May 18th, 2009, 3:59 am Eh that AMC thing sounds to spoilerific for me. I honestly have no desire to see it and I mean it this time  The trailer and these tv spots have suprisingly satisfied my hunger for HBP.
Besides anything else is probably just going to annoy me and I really don't want to see the couch transformation until the film. I didn't want to see the Inferi but that's been ruined so I'm def not going to see the couch thing if I can help it.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Same here, I prefer those visual surprises un-spoiled but I've already seen the Inferi and other CGI effects
Wouldn't be surprised if BOTH of us are eating our words IF this preview ever shows up. :p You know how that worked out last time ;)
Phrozenone May 18th, 2009, 4:14 am Nah I'll be strong this time...we're only 2 months away so I can def wait.
And WOW Bellatrix sounds creepy.
The Astronomy Tower sequence is looking intense. More intense then even I imagined. I mean look at Micheal Gambon. Seeing him in movement (And the wind blowing) in that scene is just breathtaking.
IenjoyAcidPops May 18th, 2009, 4:59 am I saw the new TV spot earlier tonight during The Simpsons, so that was a great surprise. This one just looks better and better; I mean, I don't expect a perfect movie, nor is that fair, but Tom Felton in particular seems to have stepped it up in a big way, which is exactly what's needed.
ETA: Also, I went to see Star Trek in IMAX the other day, and I have to say, I was pretty disappointed that there was no HBP trailer before it.
decarus May 18th, 2009, 5:03 am I agree. The tower scene is looking intense. I didn't think they could really make it creepy, yet sad, yet disturbing, but what we have seen looks amazing. All the characters really seem on form, Snape, Dumbledore, Draco, Bellatrix, they all look great in that scene.

Makes you wonder what movie the test-screeners saw, doesn't it?
Everything I've seen sounds ten times better than what was described by some of the test-screeners...
More and more, I'm starting to think Eric of Mugglenet wasn't just being political with his gushing of the film...

Yeah, I was about to say: most of the test screeners. And my first thought reading this wasn't so much about the quality as the rating. I still don't see evidence of a PG movie here, at least not by comparison to the previous PG-13 efforts.
MasterOfDeath May 18th, 2009, 5:17 am Yeah, it's really jarring and almost comical to hear the narrator announce "RATED PG" at the end of this spot.

I echo everything you just said except that I saw it during Survivor. It was the best trailer yet I think. Had the "fight back" line and Snape on the tower and Draco. Really fab!
Does anyone know who that is talking in the middle, "dark times, they bring people together" or something similar? I couldn't figure out who it was. None of the main characters, I don't think, but it wasn't the narrator. Was it Lupin?

I suppose, but still isn't as INTENSE as it could be. For instance, it doesn't include that ultra creepy and downright disturbing exchange with Fenrir Greyback. You know, the dialogue about ripping out kids throats...something I'm quite sure wouldn't have been allowed for PG
Also, remember MoD that this (along with Flight of the Prince) were supposedly the most unfinished portions of the film. So I think that is likely the reason the test screen viewers were un-impressed with that sequence. Looks pretty good so far though, from what we've seen :tu:

That would be Arthur Weasley, and it's a line from one of the script leaks :)
MR. WEASLEY (CONT'D)
Harry. You know, I went through all this before--the last time around. Times like these--dark times--do funny things to people. It can bring them together and it can tear them apart. Things...speed up. It's what happens when you don't know if today will be your last.
freelantzer May 18th, 2009, 6:13 am Also, I went to see Star Trek in IMAX the other day, and I have to say, I was pretty disappointed that there was no HBP trailer before it.Bummer. They showed the HBP trailer at the Star Trek IMAX here.
I just saw the C trailer today and was completely slack-jawed at how amazing it looks. Definitely getting more and more excited for the movie. Anyone know what Draco is holding in front of his face right after he removes the cover from the vanishing cabinet? I couldn't make out what was in his hand, but his gesture reminded me of communion--an unholy communion.
ArryGrotter May 18th, 2009, 6:26 am Wow, just - wow!
I loved that shot of Draco - he looks so nervous :D
My first thought when I saw the "carry out the deed" scene was that Bellatrix looks photoshopped in :rotfl: - its a chilling scene nonetheless...
And wait, Dumbledore says "you're the chosen one harry" on the tower? :hmm:

Draco, "I'm going to kill you, old man!"
Dumbledore, "You're not an assassin, Draco."
Draco, "You don't know what I've done!"
Dumbledore, "You're the chosen one, Harry!"
Draco, "...what?"
Dumbledore, "Oh...I just saw the new trailer for this movie last night, it was awesome!"
Draco, "...uh..really? In HD quality?" *begins to lower his wand*
Dumbledore, "No...The computer at Hogwarts doesn't work that well with all the magic in the air...but I did catch me saying that line up here for some reason..."
Draco, "Oh, man, the movie looks like it's gonna be awesome!"
Dumbledore, "Didn't you have a job to do, Draco?"
Draco, "huh? Oh yeah! uh...you're the dead one, Dumbledore!"
Dumbledore, "Ok, that line was NOT in any script leak or trailer...have you even read the all-inclusive HBP list?!"
Draco, "Do I look like a total dork?!"
Dumbledore, "Standing there pointing a wand at me..yeah, kinda."
Draco, "....you're mean! I'm no dork!" *quickly puts wand away*
*death eaters arrive*
Photoshopped Bella whispers into Draco's ear, "Carry out the deed!"
Draco, *angst-ridden expression* "but...I want to see the new trailer!"
Dumbledore, "Bellatrix, it was foolish of you to come here tonight...the purists are on their way...."

That was awesome...I've missed your witty remarks and sarcasm, MoD :tu:
Haven't seen this side of you in a while. Being serious though, we really don't know much about just how well that scene was kept intact or not. Rachel seemed to have a bit of a fuzzy memory of that part and none of the other test screen viewers really gave much detail about it. There was quite a LOT of dialogue in the book and I'm curious what Kloves decided to keep. I imagine some of the discussion about the use of the cabinet and such won't be necessary cause the audience (and Dumbledore) will be assumed to already know all that...you think? :hmm:

BTW, I can see how Arry was confused...even in HD it does kinda look like Dumbledore is saying that line on the tower  :p
MasterOfDeath May 18th, 2009, 8:18 am I meant the movie itself.
I noticed they are really making this film epic and biblical..
"The plans have been drawn, the powers have aligned, the end has begun." You're the chosen one, Harry" with the music and cinemtography..
It's got that apocalyptic, end of the world feel.
Even the title has that feeling. The Half-Blood Prince. It's got this messianic vibe.

Ah, ok. Cause personally I found this TV spot quite mediocre. I don't know, perhaps that's cause I have such high expections now from the previous trailers and such. It was good to see a little bit of new material though unlike the 2nd TV spot, which showed us nothing new.
KlausBaudelaire May 18th, 2009, 8:41 am It's nice :) nothing more, nor less.
The nicest thing is HBC's line, honestly more Bellatrix and more interest for me!

Two more months... just two more months...
AccioHP May 18th, 2009, 4:57 pm Thanks for the HQ version! Much better!
Still looks like DUmbledore isn't saying 'You're the Chosen One' on the tower. Just a little off with the audio and video. I tried watching it with no sound to see if I could see what Dumbledore was saying but I couldn't, it was too fast.
MoD, that was hilarious!!

boushh May 18th, 2009, 7:09 pm I realized something from watching TV spot #3... That's Lupin that says the line about Voldemort having given Draco a special job to do... or however it is worded. It is different then the book. In the book when Harry asks Arthur and Lupin about Draco they don't know anything. In the book, Harry speaks to Arthur about it as he is about to board the train and Arthur then raids the malfoy's house to look for dark objects. Harry speaks to Arthur again during chrismas and Lupin listens in and comments. They say they don't know anything, but that they have to trust Dumbledore and Snape.
In the film, the order is aware that Draco is up to something, but they don't know what. I think they tell Harry about the cabinet during christmas which is different then the book.

OK, I wasn't sure if I just forgot Lupin's involvement or what. From what I was remembering the only players that knew and/or suspected what Draco was up to were Harry, Dumbledore and Snape... obviously some of which is detailed in DH....
So I just thought I'd share that a couple of reviewers (Ben Lyons and someone else) were on Bonnie Hunt today and did a little bit of talking about HBP. Some nice words there saying that it appeals to everyone, the movies are getting darker and more mature. They also said it's the most anticipated 'family' film of the summer... And they also mentioned that OotP made over 900 million worldwide so "There's some money in these movies". They kind of joked around about the profits. As for footage... they just aired a clip from the last trailer.

Really? I dont believe they know anything still. The line COULD have just been altered for the trailer (you'll remeber they did this to one of Hermione's lines in the Japanese Trailer, they changed "The only reson SHE is interested in you, is because SHE thinks you the chosen one". The changed all the "She's" to "He's" So it'd sound like she was talking about Slughorn) I think it VERY likely that Lupin's line could've been messed with, it could end up being "Harry, I do not believe Voldemort has given Draco Malfoy a mission. I've been underground with the werwolves and hadn't heard anything" or something like that. So, i still think it's a possibily that Lupin (or the Order) knows what he's doing, or IF he's doing anything. I hope i'm right and they stay close to the book, but hey you never know. We won't know for sure until the film comes out will we? I don't think Harry will learn about the cabinet at chirstmas though, that'd make the Order seem pretty stupid if they knew exactly what he was doing and aren't doing a thing about it.
In other news,
MovieBox.net's Youtube channel has a fourth tv spot up, it has NO new footage, and seems to be just a 1 minute version of the final trailer. I don't suspect any fan-editing here though, some of the sound effects are louder and sound differently as well as some of the lines, it looks (and sounds) legit, and considering that it's from MovieBox.net, i'd say it safe to say it's legit.
If anyone wants to see the 4th Tv Spot (even though there is NO new footage) it's here at this link:

He's there too! Is that little bit with him talking to Harry new? I don't remember it from the other trailers or the TV spots.
Please remind me, is Tonks in this movie and is she going to be in DH 1 and 2?

They do mess with the lines in the trailers, but i think that they did change this fact in the film. I think that the people who saw the test screening said that the order was aware that Draco is up to something. I am not sure if they are aware at the beginning of the film or if they become aware because Harry, Ron and Hermione follow Draco to Borgin and Burkes and see him there with Greyback threatening Borgin and the trio tips the order off. I think they do tell Harry that the thing Draco bought and was talking about at Borgin and Burkes was the cabinet. I think i remember Racheeze saying this or if not her then someone else who was at the screening.
PS. Tonks is in HBP. She is at the burrow attack. I am not sure if she is in any other scenes or not.

Yeah I like Tonks too, and doesn't it seem just a bit ... convenient that Luna finds Harry because of Wrackspurts? Aren't Wrackspurts not real creatures? I'm so confused by all this!

Ok so if Wrackspurts aren't real, then how did Luna know Harry was under the cloak? She said his head is full of (non-existant) Wrackspurts?
snapes_witch May 19th, 2009, 1:33 am What was the point in cutting Tonks from the scene when she rescues Harry? Why did they change it to Luna?
There is absolutely no point in changing it, except now there was no reason for the scene with Snape.

Wait a minute, Luna finds him in the train? I thought they changed it to Snape.
decarus May 19th, 2009, 1:42 am Luna finds him on the train frozen under the cloak then they walk up to the gate together and Harry meets Snape at the gate like he does in the book.
DML1991 May 19th, 2009, 2:11 am What was the point in cutting Tonks from the scene when she rescues Harry? Why did they change it to Luna?Because Tonks was barely developed in OOTP, and considering as audiences loved Luna and she was developed well, but has barely any notable scenes in HBP, they decided to change it to her.
I consider this a smart decision on Yates and Kloves' part. Why include a character in a scene we barely know and have never felt any investment in at this point? Part of why this scene works in the book is because of how well developed she was in OOTP, but that hasn't happened in the films... so include a character that we've felt invested in.
There is absolutely no point in changing it, except now there was no reason for the scene with Snape. :no:The change should have no effect whatsoever on Snape's presence.
There was a clear and obvious point in changing the scene with Tonks.
ally_xx May 19th, 2009, 2:33 am But it's still so convenient that Luna knew Harry was there. Atleast Tonks looked at everything logically and figured out that Harry was in the carriage with the cloak on. But Luna just opens the door, with her Spectrespecs on, and knows Harry is there because his head is full of Wrackspurts. How on earth did she know that?
And IMO, it's the directors own fault for not including Tonks more, she was a huge part in OoTP and they should have stayed true to the books for that movie.

I don't see how her figuring Harry is on the carriage with the cloak on fits at all with her on the train finding him.
Luna's specs, the references to nargles in OOTP... it fits rather well here. And it gives a favorite character from the previous film some much needed notable screentime. And IMO, it's the directors own fault for not including Tonks more, she was a huge part in OoTP and they should have stayed true to the books for that movie. It's the studio's fault for asking a director to cut almost a entire third out of the film he made because the audience prefers a shorter length, despite the highest grossing film of that year being almost three hours long. The director does what he can do with what he has to work with, seeing as Tonk's role in OOTP wasn't so major that they absolutely needed to add her to the film and cut something else that was more important to the point of the story out, the cuts made on her character were rather a unfortunate circumstance than anything else.

Each to their own I guess :relax:
It's just disappointing when they replace characters, leave things out and move things around, and I'm sure some people will agree with me on that.

Well, the primary reason that Tonks was in that scene was to add to the subplot of her being depressed over Lupin rejecting her. Since they cut that and will be presenting Tonks and Lupin as already being a couple, there really wasn't any need to have Tonks be the one to find Harry.
However, I think it would have been a better choice for them to have Ginny be the one to find Harry rather than Luna. They've put too much emphasis on Luna - particularly in OOTP - and I think that is misleading for people who haven't read the books because it appears that they're working towards Harry and Luna getting together instead of Harry and Ginny. I love Luna as a character, but they really needed to work on developing Ginny as a character as well as her relationship with Harry. Having Ginny find Harry on the train would have been a good way to do both.

meesha1971 May 19th, 2009, 7:48 am And how exactly would Ginny have been able to find Harry?
I think that would have been simple actually. Ginny forgets something in the compartment and goes back and, as she's exiting, she spots Draco leaving his compartment with a smug glance towards it. She decides to check it out, wondering why he was looking so smug, and finds Harry. The Invisibility Cloak didn't stop him from being solid and he's laying in the middle of the floor there so she'd pretty much trip over him as soon as she entered the compartment - which would have been a great opportunity for one of those awkward "romantic" moments.
That would have made more sense than Luna finding him and it would have been a good way to further the Harry/Ginny subplot so it would have been more logical in terms of plot structure and character development.

It makes more sense for Ginny to find Harry rather than Luna, I will agree with that, but I was really looking forward to seeing Tonks in that scene.
stumps101 May 19th, 2009, 8:52 am I don't like the Luna finding Harry on the train part either.
I get that Luna was a crowd favourite from OoTP but I just think it's really stupid how Luna is able to see Harry with her glasses when he's in his invisible cloak. And in the next movie they are going to say that Harry has the best invisibility cloak out there, one that ensuresthat the wearer is never seen. Er ok. Gross contradiction right there isn't it ?
The way I've read the scene it really comes across like the validity of the hollow has been compromised and I'm not a fan of that at all. So all the death eaters need are the specs ?

Personally, I would find that whole situation you suggested too cheesy and cliche
I know that I disliked this change at first, and probably would have preferred Ginny instead, but I do like the reason they made up for Luna and I don't know if they could make a better one for any other character...

Luna can only see Wrackspurts floating around Harry's head with the Spectrespecs on.
She can not see Harry at all, because he has the invisibility cloak on, obviously...

Wrackspurts, not nargles ;)
MasterOfDeath May 19th, 2009, 9:08 am It really should have been Aragog. His death gets absolutely no set-up in this film. :grumble:

Moody's magical eye can also see through the cloak. I can quite easily see a Lovegood's invention (accidentally) having the same quality.
stumps101 May 19th, 2009, 11:32 am Ah ok then my mistake. I'm fine with that then - if it's something she sees around something invisible and not an invisible Harry, then I see no problem with it. Evanna plays Luna really well and I see no harm with her getting at least something to do in the movie.

Honestly, I would prefer that to them being misleading by using Luna. I love Luna's character, but they're putting too much emphasis on her in the films and making it appear that it will be Luna and Harry getting together. And the films have essentially ignored Ginny - with the exception of COS. She's had little to no character development and a lot of people didn't even know who she was in OOTP because of that. They should have used OOTP and HBP to do more with developing Ginny as a character as well as her relationship with Harry.
Having Ginny find Harry would have made more sense in the context of the story. I don't think her spotting Draco leaving the compartment with a smug look back towards it and checking it out would be cheesy at all - it would be logical for her to check it out.
Taking advantage of the opportunity to have an awkward romantic moment there could be cheesy, but that's potentially true for any awkward romantic moment they put in - I expect the "shoelace" bit they added to be very cheesy to be honest. I think accidentally falling on Harry in this situation would actually be more natural than Ginny trying to tie his shoe.

Interesting thought, but Harry's cloak is so powerful remember, it is one of the Hallows! No one would be able to sense Harry under it.

Aaaah now i distinctly remember that they could swear that mrs norris could see them under the cloak.
Not forgeting mad eye moody who could see them using his magical eye. Oh and Dumbeldore could always tell when they were in the room with it on.
This is were the basis of my theory for Luna being able to see/sence them under the cloak.

Yes, the eye could see through the cloak because it's a highly magical object. And Dumbledore was a very learned and wise wizard.
But I don't think I can agree that Luna can sense people under cloaks.
wizard_master May 20th, 2009, 2:25 am Aah indeed. Mrs Norris may not of been able to see them persay, but they did have to "shoo" her away because she was staring right at them. This would give the impresion that she could at least sence a presence
Dumbledore may of been wise but, the line (if memeory serves) goes something like this, Dumbledor kept glancing in the direction of where harry was standing...
As the cloak was a Hallow Mad Eye shouldnt of been able to see them under it.

wizard_master May 20th, 2009, 2:39 am Look on it as she is able to see the Thestrals and has some form of conection whith magical creatures.
As her mother died in an experimental magical explosion she may have gained a 6th sence from her mothers early experiments
*scratches heed* quite a few possible explinations there ;)

Hmmm yes, but Harry and Neville and a few others can see Thestrals too.
My brain is hurting now, trying to think about all of this
I don't think we really need to speculate and dig deep into the reasons why Luna could sense Harry under the cloak. But then again, she didn't sense him, she said she could see the Wrackspurts in his head. And IIRC, there is pic of Harry on the floor half concealed under the cloak and there are little golden dots surrounding his head. Are these the Wrackspurts? If they are, why did they add them if they aren't real?

Then this would be the most sencible conclusion to draw from this.
Maybe it is her second sence that enables her to see magical properties in hair ;)

Id now say that the most plausable explination for it would be that it was a result from one of her mothers experiments ;)

I don't think you are the only one to find Luna so interesting. I mean she has to be smart, but her way of thinking is different and maybe that is what makes her so smart. She can think about things in a different way.
JamesPotter17 May 20th, 2009, 5:13 am Interesting thought, but Harry's cloak is so powerful remember, it is one of the Hallows! No one would be able to sense Harry under it.
This is correct of the cloak, it was so powerful a magical object that it was hard to see through, I'm sure that even the Dementors would not have been able to see Harry or them under it because of its magical attuned powers(IMO). But still maybe it is like the Elder wand that it has a "backfire claus" I shall call it. For instance the Elder wand could not be used against its true master in battle. If it was it would back fire and use the spell it was casting on the holder(if they weren't the true master) as seen by Voldemort.
So maybe the cloak could also be like this where if it came up against a magical object that was equal to it in uniqueness or strength that it would lose some of it's ability and slightly show what it was covering. Only guessing here but none the less this could be a case?
Ahh yes, but they weren't certain that Mrs Norris could see them!
Yes, the eye could see through the cloak because it's a highly magical object. And Dumbledore was a very learned and wise wizard.
But I don't think I can agree that Luna can sense people under cloaks.
I think in Mrs. Norris' case was that she had her cat senses as well, meaning that she could smell them though she couldn't see them. This may have added to how she may have been able to see them(speaking if she wasn't a special cat that had all seeing eyes).
As with Mad Eye, perhaps as I said he could him(or them) because his eye (as has been said) was a highly magically endowed object and so it may have been able to see through the cloak. Then (having just thought of it) perhaps it works this way to where others can sense it, and Mad Eye can see them, because in the story its main purpose was to hide the youngest brother from the sight of death. So perhaps Mad Eye can see it because of his eye and it magical enhancements, because the youngest brother would not have thought into the future and the further advancements of magic. And since at times with magic you have to be exact in your wording(as shown by Hermione teaching Ron about Wingardium Leviosa excuse my misspelling if it is a case) then perhaps this could case? yet again we dont' exactly know.
Who knows then - but Luna sensing Harry under the cloak just doesn't fit for me, IMO.
For me either because their is really nothing about her that gives an air of her having any capability of that sort. But still it could be that she has become attune to senseing the unseen or the weird because of her life and her mother. But to me this is a very big IF.

Ok, I watched it, nothing special or spoiling, just ron talking to be in love with romilda vane.
AccioHP May 20th, 2009, 4:55 pm OMG! An actual clip!!!! :)
Rupert is hysterical!
CrazyMuggle May 20th, 2009, 5:13 pm Wow ANOTHER clip has just surfaced, only now it's in the form of a featurette:drool: Check it out at the link below.

AccioLumos May 20th, 2009, 5:32 pm Maybe it is her second sence that enables her to see magical properties in hair ;)
i think the second sense is smell. maybe harry stank a little! .
AccioHP May 20th, 2009, 5:38 pm I'm about to comment on the featurette so if you haven't seen it yet don't read further lol

I love when Dumbledore is telling Harry to obey every command he gives him, and if he has to leave him behind to save himself, and asks for his word. Both Gambon and Dan delivered the lines really well there.
Then we have Dumbledore's owl on the podium spreading its wings. And they also show Harry looking up at it. It looks like his nose is all bloody there.
The shot of the glasses and eye we saw in one of the other trailers seems to be Harry's when they are leaving the Ministry and people are taking photos of him.
"At times I still see the small boy from the cupboard" I love that line and the look on Harry's face. He looks like a young boy again with the smile he had on his face.
"I don't need luck, I'll be with Dumbledore" :) Is that a line directly from the book? I can't remember.
Slughorn coming out of the chair  "Merlin's beard!" I like the way he says that. He looks very promising in this movie. Can't wait to see more scenes with him.
"Whatever happens, trust me"-Dumbledore on the tower. Im assuming before they leave?
I like how they ended it with Dumbledore saying "the tale is thrilling if i must say so myself"
deansboy May 20th, 2009, 5:48 pm "It stared of with the announcer saying 'This Year on July 15th' and an ariel shot of Hogwarts.
Sounds fake to me. I can only find that same description in another Potter forum and the three real videos, a third TV spot including Bella telling Draco to do the dead. The scene of Harry being hit with the bludger, the body and the Hagrid line are the hardest to swallow.
Willz May 20th, 2009, 6:42 pm The new clip and the featurette is brilliant I cannot wait for this film, it seems to of stuck more to the book than OOTP did anyway.
SybillOnWheels May 20th, 2009, 6:52 pm Ok, that featurette has done me in...this movie looks amazing.
decarus May 20th, 2009, 7:11 pm The ring. Dumbledore showing Harry the ring. I am still hopeful for a scene where Dumbledore discusses what he thinks the horcruxes are. That looked awesome.
Also Dumbledore saying 'Whatever happens, trust me.' They then show a shot of Harry with wet hair. I think this is after the cave scene. After they have returned from getting the fake locket. This is Dumbledore telling Harry to hide under the floorboards.
PS. Rupert looks like he has gone crazy in that clip. That looks very funny.
Gaian May 20th, 2009, 7:51 pm Wow ANOTHER clip has just surfaced, only now it's in the form of a featurette:drool: Check it out at the link below.

Wow! That's amazing! :tu: Thanks for the link. I can't wait to see this movie, it seems very good. Still 2 months (a bit less :D) to wait, but there's already the poster at the cinema here (the one you all discussed before).
decarus May 20th, 2009, 9:12 pm I am actually watching Ellen now just to see the short clip of Harry Potter.
DML1991 May 20th, 2009, 9:17 pm Not much to say that hasn't already been said... but I love the shots of the Ministry from OOTP, the lack of blue filtering makes the scene look rather beautiful.
CrazyMuggle May 20th, 2009, 9:29 pm HOLY QUIDDITCH!!! New TV spots! One even shows a certain character falling....

We are getting so many clips today!
PureBloodGirl May 20th, 2009, 9:44 pm I love the first and last TV spots that you linked CrazyMuggle. Brand new footage and audio in those. I love how Dumbledore is warning Harry and telling him to obey everything he says. That's the part when they're about to go to the cave!
DML1991 May 20th, 2009, 9:49 pm One even shows a certain character falling....Uh, I watched all of them and none showed it...
CrazyMuggle May 20th, 2009, 9:52 pm Uh, I watched all of them and none showed it...
It's incredibly brief but it's in the spot "Challenge" at around the 25 second mark.
SybillOnWheels May 20th, 2009, 9:56 pm Is that Dumbledore falling from the Astronomy Tower? :(
I feel like I'm really going to fall in love with Gambon's DD this time around, he appears to have finally gotten it.
skullangel May 20th, 2009, 10:10 pm Gambons Dumbledore is getting better and better...
Bscorp May 20th, 2009, 10:12 pm Challenge: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuhK9UGFwfc
We are getting so many clips today!
15 seconds into this one you can hear Snape's voice saying "You ask too much.."
AccioHP May 20th, 2009, 10:19 pm :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
WOW!! I can't believe all the stuff that came out today!!! I'm sooooo excited!!!
decarus May 20th, 2009, 10:38 pm Are they releasing the entire film today? I think we have now had six new clips. That is insane.
In one of those harry says something like 'if you destory it' and dumbledore says 'you can destroy voldemort'.
AccioHP May 20th, 2009, 10:38 pm My comments on the new TV Spots.
1)Together
I like that they have Harry asking 'But you could destroy it.." Probably talking about the horcrux. I hope they go into it. And Dumbledore says "...destroys Voldemort" :tu: We see Snape shushing Harry again and see Harry this time.
2) Battle Has Begun
At :02 sec there is a shot at the trio. Harry turns around and Ron and Hermione look where he is looking. I wonder what they are looking at?
At :04 sec Snape looks like he's at a Slug Club party.
Aww...Harry comforting Hermione at 17 sec :) I think after she throws the birds at Ron.
At :24 sec there is a shot of Harry. His face looks sort of bloody. Im wondering if thats from the train from Malfoy or if it's at the beginning of the film after the fight at the Ministry.
3)Challenge
At 4 seconds it looks like 2 people are guarding the Great Hall and then theres someone in the center of the door. I can't tell who it could be
It looks like there are 3 rings around Snape and Narcissa's hand when they do the vow :) :tu:
Sounds like Ginny screams Harry, possibly at the Burrow attack?
Also the kis, when she says 'close your eyes' it sounds different than we've heard before. More soft. I like this way better :tu:
At 21 seconds we can see Dumbledore in the cave and there looks like there are tons of Inferi around him.
and at 25 seconds him falling! And you can clearly tell its him. It is ver very quick so I think people seeing it on tv might not notice or they might not know what is going on if they haven't read the book.
4)Activities
We've seen this one before.
5)Answers
Glad to see young Tom again :)
It looks like the Death Eaters go right through a brick wall in Diagon Alley!
Hermione, Ron, and Harry possibly spying on Malfoy at 19 sec.
More of the Burrow attack! We see Harry jump in front of Ginny to protect her from Greyback! :)
Thanks CrazyMuggle for all the links today! :)
decarus May 20th, 2009, 10:43 pm Snape saying 'you ask too much'. Dumbledore falling off the tower. Wow.
Willz May 20th, 2009, 11:14 pm We are definatley being spoiled today :D. One question though, where Harry says 'If we destroy it we can kill Voldemort', what does he mean by it, shouldn't he mean them?
decarus May 20th, 2009, 11:29 pm I wondered the same thing. Why did Harry say 'it' instead of 'them'? I am having trouble deciding when this is in the film based on what Harry is wearing. This could be around Christmas time before they have seen the final horcrux memory and they could still think that there is only one horcrux.

Yeah I think that could be it.
ally_xx May 21st, 2009, 12:10 am Even though this link has been posted, have you guys watched the featurette underneath the trailer? It's so cool! You see Slughorn's head pop out of the chair he is trying to disguise himself as and he goes "Merlins Beard!" then he transforms

I agree with you 99%. (I don't love Luna, at all)
I think it is pathetic that so much emphasis is placed by the movie makers on Luna and Luna/Harry, whilst Ginny is so under-developed.
I think Luna finding Harry on the train and talking about seeing Wrackspurts is totally stupid!

I agree with this - but what say do we have, it's the movie makers decision, and will just have to wait and see how it turns out.

even though we dont have any say in the matter of the movie, as it is someone elses decision. That still dosnt stop ones wanting it to be a different way to what the movie maker has made it
Although I do seing others perceptions on the book... even if it is the movie makers perception ;)

Phrozenone May 21st, 2009, 12:39 am MoD, Arry, and LC are going to freak out when they get online
I watched the clip and the spots. Dont' want to see Slughorn's transformation so not sure on the featurette yet. To anyone who has seen it..can you tell when it's about to happen? Maybe I can close my eyes
Either way the clips look nice. Looks like the Death Eaters try to break into Hogwarts somewhere in the film and the protection stops them which is cool and it also looks like there are people standing guard outside of the Great Hall!
I'm so glad they've kept in Dumbledore telling Harry to obey everything he says and I love how Gambon says it.
Speaking of...it seems alot of Gambon haters are starting to convert  His performance is def the one I'm most excited to see and it looks like (as usual with me) that he doesn't disappoint. The shot of him falling...well...I felt a chill. I was wondering if they were actually going to show it or just show him going over the edge.
The clip was funny. I mean I laughed. It was awkward and Rupert plays 'drugged up' Ron very well. I love the banter between the two. One clip down...one more to go..then I'm done with clips.
We're getting close everyone and the clips are going to start pouring out and I don't lots of you don't mind being spoiled but remember we've waiting 2 years for this movie..don't spoil it to much for yourselves! 2 more months!

I agree with people wanting to see what the books say is going to happen.
I don't agree with the movie makers changing their minds and adding different things.
Did that clear that up? Because now I'm confusing myself! Maybe I should word things differently ... I never think before I speak!

I agree with you, I don't think it will be a disappointment, I'm just eager to see how the train scene at the start and Dumbledores funeral turn out.

55 days if your in Australia, 56 for most of the other countries :tu:
Congrats on second year :D
tyro May 21st, 2009, 2:40 am These new spots are all rather exciting!
I have to say, Harris' Dumbledore was *exactly* as I imagined him - white hair, old and seemingly frail, an air of incredible wiseness. I really didn't like Gambon when PoA, Gof and OotP came out, but from the look of the trailers, Gambon is now playing the part perfectly.
Perhaps it's just because we know what's going to happen, but there really is an undertone of a farewell to Harry in all his lines, and a tremendous amount of sadness for what he's going to put him through.
My main beef with OotP (probably the best made film of all, so far) was that it didn't focus/build the relationship up enough between Harry and Sirius for the climax to have a real effect. However, again only going on the spots, they seem to have got Harry and Dumbledore's relationship right. I like what David Heyman says in the featurette about their relationship becoming a friendship, or something.
Anyway, for people worrying over the line "So if we destroy it... we destroy Voldermort", re: the "it" as opposed to "them" (the Horcuxes, we're talking about) please please please bear in mind how much a scene is shredded for a trailer, let alone a TV spot. The actual scene could very well be something like:
"So if we destroy it, there's only 3 left" (or whatever) "and then once they're gone..."
"...We can destroy Voldermort"
Also, wizard_master - do you really think John Simm (the Master from Doctor Who) would be a good Slughorn? Or do you mean someone who played him in the older series? Or the actor who played him for a very short time before he regenerated into Simm? If so that was Derek Jacobi I believe, and IMO too slim and small.
I think my step-Grandad is the perfect Slughorn, he has the speech, the figure, the look - too bad he's not a British thespian!

I was thinking the newly regenerated Master. If John Simm is the older one (the professor before the regeneration) then on second thought... yes him
BTW im not great with names
MasterOfDeath May 21st, 2009, 2:52 am *is blown away yet again...*
I'm so so so so so happy they put those lines in there! "If I tell you to abandon me and save yourself, you will obey." etc because it's ESPECIALLY important in the film since Harry will not be stunned under the cloak on the tower, Dumbledore really will tell Harry to hide and Harry obeys, so that was ESSENTIAL.
There was no "I'm okay, harry. I'm with you." on this...not sure what those reporters were talking about. Thank God! :tu:
It looks like the death eaters DO try to penetrate the protection of Hogwarts but fail in the beginning of the movie! Such a good idea! :tu:
Harry and Dumbledore's relationship is being developed SO SO perfectly!!!! "sometimes you still remind me of that little boy in cupboard." wow.
Harry DOES question Dumbledore about his withered hand in the beginning of the movie! Thus Dumbledore's line "I think it's quite a thrilling tale."
Gambon is so witty, ironic and just plain bad-*** as Dumbledore in this movie!
The shots of Harry and Dumbledore in the ministry flashback look really good!
We also heard a bit of Snape and Dumbledore's argument up on the tower before Harry shows up! "You ask too much." I got CHILLS!!
The Ellen clip was hilarious and so CANON! That was like WORD for WORD from the book! :wow:
Slughon-chair transformation looks so weird and funny! :rotfl: It's definitely going to make non-book readers JUMP. ;)
And OMG: "Good Luck, mate." "I won't need luck. I'll be with Dumbledore."
I'm going to be honest when I say this movie looks like it was worth every single SECOND i waited for it..
xhanax315 May 21st, 2009, 3:17 am The new clip was amazing, just like the ones before it. Getting really excited about this movie. :D  But I really wanted to mention, that about an hour ago I see the HBP trailer for the first time on the tv, and being on the big screen it looked amazing! I can't imagine what it'll look like in the theatre. I know its the same trailer we've seen many times, but to see it on the tv, made it some much more thrilling! :D
JustAnIllusion May 21st, 2009, 3:35 am I watched the clip and the spots. Dont' want to see Slughorn's transformation so not sure on the featurette yet. To anyone who has seen it..can you tell when it's about to happen? Maybe I can close my eyes
It wasn't that great, IMHO. I don't think you should worry about being spoiled. If you're worried about it, though... maybe you could just wait until you see them walk into Sluggy's house?

I especially liked when he said 'Merlin's beard!'
MasterOfDeath May 21st, 2009, 5:53 am There is a line in one of the spots where Harry is in Dumbledore's office and going by his clothes, I know it's after they view the real horcrux memory. Harry says something like, "Be brave!" to Dumbledore and I'm wondering what the context of this line is...is Dumbledore despairing and Harry is telling him to be brave? Or is this possibly that conversation in the book where Harry and Dumbledore are talking about the prophecy and the difference between being dragged into an arena to fight and walking in with your head held up high?
Hmmm..
