Welcome to the Twelth Edition of LIMS!
You will find a list of participants below. The icon makers will remain annnymous unless they choose to reveal themselves.
1) Anyone with a graphics program may join. You don’t not have to be a regular participant in the Graphics Contest thread to participate in this one.
2) Each contestant will have a "free pass" which they'll be able to use any time during the competition, except when we're down to the last four contestants. To use this pass, all you have to do is owl Vita before voting starts, telling her so.
3) Once you enter you must commit fully to the competition. If you fail to submit your graphic for the week, and you don't make use of your pass, or you have already used it on a different week but you fail to submit an entry, you are automatically “voted off the island”.
4) During the competition we will have two special challenges, in which those voted off will have the opportunity to win a place back in.
5) Please, do not enter if you are easily offended or if you cannot take constructive criticism. Just remember eventually everyone but one contestant is going to have to 'leave the island'.
6) Please submit only your original work. Make new graphics each week as well and do not post them anywhere on COS until after the weeks round is over. If you use fanart for one of your graphics, be sure to ask for permission first, and send a link to the artist on your owl.
7) Each week the maintainers of the LIMS thread will come up with a topic. It is then your job to submit you entry to Vita by owl. Please in your subject line put the week of the contest we are on. Do not post your entries in the thread or they will be disqualified.
8) Your graphics along with the other contestant’s will posted anonymously on a table to assure that people are voting for the graphic rather then the person. You will then vote for the one you like the least or would “vote off the island”. You must state why you chose this one and offer some constructive criticism. I wish to make this competition a learning experience as well. Votes without a reason will not be counted.
9) Anyone may vote at any time even if you were voted out of the competition, except when we're down to the final three contestants.
Submissions start at Sunday, 18 GMT, and go until Saturday 18 GMT. This is a full six days to submit entries to Vita via owl.
Each submission period is one week.
A notice will be posted in this thread when submissions open or close.
• From Saturday to Sunday, we will be voting. This gives us a full 24 hours each week to vote. All the entries will be displayed in a single post.
Voting starts when the tables are posted and will run for the next 24 hours after that.

LAST ICON MAKER STANDING XII - CHALLENGE ONE!
Topic: House graphics!
Restrictions: You much create a banner that represents the house you've been sorted into. If you have not been sorted I invite you to check it out here (http://www.cosforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=250). However if you do not feel incline to, make an educated guess on what house you would fit in. You much represent it by using an animal that is not it's mascot. That means NO LIONS, SNAKES, BADGERS, OR RAVENS or similar animals. Ravenclaws, don't be tricky and try using a crow or blackbird :p Any text, animation, textures and images are allowed.
Size: Banner
Due: May 31st 18 GMT
flimseycauldron May 25th, 2009, 1:31 am Oooh, Vita, great challenge. I answered the questions for the sorting. Could people help me out by voting here (http://www.cosforums.com/showthread.php?p=5310693#post5310693)?
_LoonyLovegood_ May 25th, 2009, 1:32 am ZOMG! SOOO EXCITED! AND I LOVELOVELOVE THE FIRST CHALLENGE! Even though the animal thing is slightly evil - and by the way, the mascot of Ravenclaw is an eagle, not a raven (go figure).
Vita May 25th, 2009, 1:36 am It is?? I am so rusty on my canon HP is ridiculous! No crows or ravens or blackbirds or eagles for Ravenclaw!
*zooms off to sorts flimsey*
wickedwickedboy May 25th, 2009, 2:22 am So this has to have an animal, just one unrelated to any of the houses? Or if you are a Gryffindor can you use any animal that is not a lion (like a Snake)?
Vita May 25th, 2009, 2:29 am Yes, if you are a Gryffindor you can use any animal as long as it is not their mascot the lion. (you could use a snake if you wanted)
Hysteria May 25th, 2009, 3:59 am Eeeeevil  But I like it...
Vita May 25th, 2009, 4:01 am Really, my evil meter must be broke because I thought this was the easiest challenge I have on my list for this round :\ Be happy I decided against the house color banning. Imagine a 'Puff sig with no yellow or black OR a badger
That may scare you all doesn't it? :elaugh:
Hysteria May 25th, 2009, 4:26 am *is scared*
No it's not that hard, I'm just not a big 'house' person so it's way out of my realm of what I'd usually make. So basically, I'm just being a whiny little so and so :D
Klio May 25th, 2009, 3:16 pm One thing I wondder about is whether it'll be a lot easier to guess who made which one if we have to pick our own houses. Couldn't we do any house, as long as the rules are fulfilled?
Vita May 25th, 2009, 4:38 pm Well, I did this as the first challenge so there would be many more entries (hopefully) and trusting people would judge in an unbias matter. It's ok to guess internally, we all do, it but really when it comes to judging the point is to be honest and not worry about saving friends. :)
leah49 May 25th, 2009, 8:43 pm Hm...what do you mean by unrelated animal? Say I was in Slytherin, could I not do a lizard because that is related to a snake?
flimseycauldron May 25th, 2009, 9:30 pm :eeep: I made a banner for Hufflepuff but I might be put in Gryffindor. I have an idea for Gryffindor, though, but I'm in love with this Hufflepuff banner now. :grumble: :D
Beatifically May 25th, 2009, 9:37 pm I actually like this challenge! :D Might as well enjoy this while the non-evilness lasts . . .
Klio May 25th, 2009, 11:50 pm People... please head over to the Non-HP LIMS and vote!!
Thanks! :)
xnataliex May 27th, 2009, 3:05 am You really are evil evita!!
BTW in regards to my "house" I just googled a hogwarts sorting hat (lol - im lazy) I have the print screen incase anyone thinks i mighta fudged a result :P
I'm actually quite happy with mine :D
Hysteria May 27th, 2009, 3:40 am I'm actually really into this now :D I'm quite happy with what I've done, hopefully others like it too :)
Lord Godric May 29th, 2009, 7:13 am  I didn't see this til now. Good thing there is a few more days.
Lisa_Turpin May 29th, 2009, 7:52 pm  I didn't see this til now. Good thing there is a few more days.
Me neither... hopefully I have time to get something done.
Vita May 30th, 2009, 5:02 pm It's going to be a great table this week! You all really stepped it up this challenge :)
Klio May 30th, 2009, 8:20 pm Can't wait to see it!
_LoonyLovegood_ May 30th, 2009, 8:39 pm Oooh, table goes up tonight! I'm so, so excited (and nervous) to see it!! :D
Klio May 30th, 2009, 8:42 pm Yes, I am nervous, too. I am not sure what to think about my own entry
_LoonyLovegood_ May 30th, 2009, 8:53 pm I really don't think you have anything to worry about, Klio. ;)
Klio May 30th, 2009, 9:04 pm You haven't seen the wretched thing. But then, what do I know.
_LoonyLovegood_ May 30th, 2009, 9:16 pm You're right, I haven't; I just have difficulty believing you could make anything wretched. :huggles:
Klio May 31st, 2009, 2:36 am Well, thanks for the compliment.
We shall see....

Last Icon Maker Standing - Week 2 Challenge
Challenge: Headmasters of Hogwarts
Restrictions: You must make a signature sized graphic featuring a Headmaster of Hogwarts. You may use any images you like (HP, stock etc). Textures, animation allowed. However this must be in black and white with 2 spots of coloring (different colors!).
Size: Signature
Due: June 7th
leah49 May 31st, 2009, 8:16 pm 1. I like the shade of yellow used. I like the horses on the sides. It feels like the text isn't centered in the icon, but that might just be and it might really be. I really like the background. Overall it's a pretty good graphic.
2. I like the use of the Slytherin colors in the text. I like the fox peering between the grass. The border is really nice. It does oversharp, but again it is a good graphic.
3. I think the owl should be colored or more of the icon should be less colored for the owl to blend in more. I love the blue background. I like the R being so big but then again it kind of feels like it's taking over the graphic.
4. I like the checkerboard border. I like the cat used for Gryffindor, though I don't really see the connection to the house itself, but many Gryffindors have cats and/or are cat animagus and/or have cat Patronuses. I like the font used for the text, but it seems oversharp. That could just be me. This icon just appears too plain to me.
5. Too washed out. I'm not a fan of washed out graphics though I think many are. I like the tiger representing courage. I do think, though, there is too much water.
6. I love the image of the fox, is it? (sorry, but it kind of looks like a wolf to me). I like the background. I like the text, but I would have left off the apostrophe and put "clever like a fox" on one line. I would have never thought to put a fox in Ravenclaw, but that's awesome.
7. I don't understand the blue lines at the bottom of the unicorn and I don't like the tiny text. It looks drippy. I love the background. I like the placement of the unicorn and the text. I do like how the unicorn is brighter at the top.
8. Nice play on words. I don't know how I feel about the border. I don't know if it is necessary. It seems drippy in some places. I like the red being the basic color for the graphic and the placement of the dog.
9. I think the icon is too bright in too many places. I do like the dog representing loyalty and I'm guessing Hufflepuff. That is awesome. I like the font used.
Fav: 1 and 2
Vote off: 4
RemusLupinFan May 31st, 2009, 9:59 pm Awesome stuff here!
My favorites are 3 (great composition overall and nice choice of fonts) and 5 (beautiful coloring and very clearly Gryffindor)
Voting: 4 - I like the checkerboard border on either side, but I'm not fond of the placement of the cat or the bright red background.
flimseycauldron May 31st, 2009, 10:09 pm 1)Yes, the graphic does look off center. The colors are really nice. I like the horses coats, they look like curtains.
2)I really like this icon. Foxes are associated with many of the Slytherin characteristics. The redness of the fox belies the intent of the banner but he rest of coloring is stellar.
3)I like the owl chosen for Ravenclaw. It gives that birdlike feel. The coloring is nice although the I would have dropped the red and gone with silver for Ravenclaw. Also the type of fonts, in this instance, don't really wok well together. Perhaps you were trying to soften the banner but the sharpness of the smaller font works with the metal feel of the owl better, imho.
4) I like everything about the banner except for the cat. If you know how to cut out the cat it would have been better to do that and maybe desturate him. If you can't do that yet or have program restrictions perhaps having a border around the cat to create an inset look would have eliminated the cut and paste look?
5)I like this icon as a stand alone graphic but it doesn't scream Gryffindor to me. So many house have a form of courage that I would need to see other symbols to complete the intent of the graphic. But the picture, coloring, and layout, are all beautiful.
6)This is a beautiful icon! I love the celtic knot in the back and the coloring is exquisite. Raveclaw is such a hard house to portray alternately because "raven" immediately conjures up a birdlike image. But this icon does so nicely.
7)This is a beautiful icon as well. I would have either eliminated the reflection on the font or removed the tiny text as it is busy. I love the magical quality and the coloring.
8)I really love the concept of this icon. Over all it's a little blurry and washed out. The text is awkwardly placed.
9)Like 5 the picture is wonderful but other than the coloring it doesn't scream Hufflepuff to me. I think a more playful, lighter font would have added more dimension.
Voting 8 Sorry :(
Lord Godric May 31st, 2009, 10:26 pm 1. This is a nice graphic overall. However, I don't feel that the font and the bullets work well with the images represented. Other than that the image itself is nice.
2. Quite an amazing graphic. I love the color scheme, the font, and the image location itself. The fox appears a bit too saturated, but it is still a very nice image.
3. Cute image, the owl perfectly represents Ravenclaw house. Overall though the image doesn't go well with the background color, and the background doens't go well with the font. Perhaps using one solid color scheme to give the whole graphic a feeling of cohesiveness would be better.
4. Well the colors and the animal fit well, but the picture of the cat and the text seems a little too cut and paste, and isn't blended that well.
5. Nice image, nice text, nice animal, just too bright and washed out overall. Besides that I really like it.
6. Very nice. I love the font and the background pattern, and the picture of the animal is blended in very nicely :tu:
7. Quite an awesome idea and really love the image overall. The only thing I am not sure about is why a unicorn represents Ravenclaw. But that doesn't change how great the image is.
8. Nice idea, and nice pun. I think more could have been done to manipulate the image itself -- it's not the highest quality image. And I think it could have done without the border.
9. Without a doubt my favorite! Love the font and the underglow to it, love the image itself and the placement of the text and picture. Just really, really love this one!
Favorite: 9 :tu:

Klio June 1st, 2009, 2:09 am 1. took me quite some time to decipher this image - both to work out that those were horses, and to read the text. I think there isn't enough contrast and the colours are a bit washed out. However, I think the idea, and the chivalrous theme are great!
2. NICE idea and the way the picture is framed is excellent. I also like the caption. The green is a bit oversaturated, I think... but the overall look is great!
3. An owl certainly suits Ravenclaw perfectly, and the choice of that particular silver owl is neat! Not sure what I make of the choice of red for the font... and something in the combination of fonts is a bit off, though I am not sure what. I like how the owl sits on the initial.
4. Neat idea. The cat picture is cropped in an odd way - with just a few pixels missing at top and bottom that crop looks accidental rather than deliberate. The picture could have been placed better - that empty red zone beneath it looks odd. I like the checker border.
5. Nice picture, good caption (font and placement). I think the picture is too washed out - I would gave coloured at least part of it more strongly darker, more saturated), and perhaps just left part of it brighter, or added a light texture.
6. Like the fox picture, although would have been good not to crop the tips of its ears. NIce caption and background. I love the texture you used for the frame.
7. This is magical! I simply like everything about it. Even the small font (I am not usually a fan of tiny text)! To be honest, I don't like that weird Ravenclaw motto JKR gave us, so seeing it in illegibel font is just right.
8. Excellent idea. Great choice of picture, although it looks a bit blurred. I like the way you framed the picture - I just wonder whether it would have ;looked even better with a frame that's darker than the red background?
9. Beautiful... this is such a good chpice - and I like the colouring, the strong contrast and saturation, and the texture. great stuff!

AliceLongbottom June 1st, 2009, 2:39 am Oooooo, I get to vote for two different contests in one day! :D
1: I like the levels that you used in this banner. However, while I like the horses that you used, I feel like they're not really the main focus, and they're just there to add to the text. I do like the background, though.
2: I love the fox picture, and the green looks really great with it. I also love how you did the text, and I think that it all works really well together. The fox is a bit on the light/bright side, but otherwise, great job. :D
3: The idea behind this is neat. However, I'm not a huge fan of the owl picture, just because it looks kind of pixelated. I like how you have the owl perced on the "R" in Ravenclaw. I'm not sure how I feel about the white text in the corner. I maybe would have tried to incorporate more of the actual Ravenclaw colors, but that's just my personal opinion.
4: I like the choice of font for "Gryffindor." I'm not a huge fan of the cat picture you chose, because it seems like you just put it on the front of the banner and didn't do anything to the actual animal. The borders on the side are a bit bright, as well.
5: I like the picture you chose of the tiger, and how all the levels are light, but not too bright. I also like what you did on the text with the side. Overall, it just seems a bit bland, but I like the idea.
6: I love the background and text that you used. The star-like (for lack of a better adjective) thing in the background is really neat behind the font. The blending on the outside of the fox picture is a little off, but otherwise, it looks nice. I also really love the navy border on the edges.
7: Love, love, love the picture of the unicorn. It looks very cool, and the blending is really well done. I also like how the firebolt-like things are coming down on the unicorn and the unicorn looks like it's kicking up dust. The Ravenclaw text line is just slightly blurry (this might be my computer). I didn't really originally think the tiny text was tiny text, and I thought that I was meant to read it, but that just might be me being my dumb self. Maybe a different font might have looked better, but otherwise I really like it. I'm not exactly sure how unicorns being hit by lighting bolts fits into the scheme of Ravenclaw, but you managed to get the house colors in and make the banner look really awesome, so great job. (Again, the interpretation of unicorn to Ravenclaw house might be really obvious, and I just don't get it the first time around, because that's me a lot of the time anway.)
8: I like the tribute to fire dogs, and how they are brave, which relates to Gryffindor. I also like how you added "dog" to the end of Gryffindor. I just think that's really clever. The dog is bright, which is nice, but the truck is almost just as bright, so maybe you could have played around with different levels on the background, although I'm sure that probably would have taken an extremely large amount of time. The border is nice, but again, it is a little bright. Overall, I like the concept. It just seems like the truck stands out in brightness almost as much as the dog.
9: At first I was trying to figure out what house this stood for, but that was just me being slow, because then I realized that the text is black and shines yellow. I love how the dog stands out against the ground (how the ground is really bright, and then the dog's colors are extremely saturated). I also like how it's comparing the house's best quality of being loyal with man's best friend. Overall, very nice job.
With all of this in mind, my vote is going to have to go to 4 for the reasons above. Great job to everyone this week. This in one of the best first week tables I've seen. :D
Hysteria June 1st, 2009, 3:33 am I think that's the best first round table I've seen in HP LIMS since I've been involved! Beautiful work.
Fave: 2. I love the textures you've used and a wonderful image choice. The text fits in perfectly.
Vote: 4. I think it's a nice idea and if you'd got rid of the background behind the cat it would have been far more effective. Also the colours are a bit strong. It looks like you had a good idea, just needed some more time to perfect it.
Vita June 1st, 2009, 4:51 am Because I've been rather flighty the past few weeks I accidentally missed an entry this week! It is a stunning graphic I thought it was only fair to share it!
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p136/lrunion/LIMS%20XII/Week1.png
Again, sorry to the maker of this graphic that I missed it :(
Hysteria June 1st, 2009, 5:02 am Wow that one is beautiful! I think that'd be my second favourite. Wonderful colours and great composition.
wickedwickedboy June 1st, 2009, 6:19 am 1. This is a nice representation of Gryffindor. I feel like it is a little spacious in the middle giving a bit too much of a vaccuous feel. But it has that royal feel to it that the lion seems to portray in the actual logo. Nice work.
2. The fox is kick - really sweet job on that. The coloring is great, I really dig what you did with the surrounding grass and that bright eye is cool. I think the message is great - and the text makes for a cool contrast - I would have left the 'cunning' white too, or maybe a bit brighter. But overall excellent.
3. The owl is a great substitute for Ravenclaw's eagle. I like the colors you chose, it all works well, as well as the silver effect on the owl. The owl itself is a little too statuesque to me for the text chosen (or the other way around ). Nonetheless, Good job.
4. I like this. It is like Quidditch, Minerva with the Gryffindor overall feel. I think the separation lines could be removed for an overall smoother feel, but it is a pretty nice little graphic idea the way it is also. Good job.
5. This is awesome - magazine matt - which I used to hate, but have since come to think makes some of the best looking graphics out there. I would have liked this anyway though, it is just brilliantly done - the coloring, cropping, etc. is just perfect, excellent job.
6. That is sure to win all the 'awwwwws' in the room.. Very nice picture selection and I like the snowiness of his coat against the matted background. Nice work. I really like the font you chose for 'clever like a fox' - I think it is 'clever'..
7. Well this is freaky flippy - I dig it! The color spritz and smoky fade is brilliant. I think he got a tad blanched about the face for the graphic, but overall a very nice effect. I can't read the smaller text (maybe a tad bigger would be nice), but I like what you chose for Ravenclaw. Great job.
8. This is funny . Good choice of text. The cropping on the firetruck could maybe have been a bit closer in so that it could be a bit better defined, but the overall idea is great. Nice work.
9. This one cracked me up - but not your fault, my neighbor back home had a dog like that, and he looked just the same. He'd fetch just fine, but then you'd never see him again for hours as he ran with the stick to who knows where. Funny stuff. But back to the graphic...it is nicely colored although a little high on the contrast to my eye. It kind of fades the crop and since the background is blurred, it renders it a little denuded about the edges. I like the splashes of color - is that speed? And the words are nice - Hufflepuff? If so, the dog is huffing and puffing so it works.. Nice work.
I thought they were all well done, but I would have to vote off #1.

Tenshi June 1st, 2009, 10:02 am Voting off: #4
The idea with the grid is not bad, but the placement of the cat is awkward. Should have cut out the cat and blended it in or something like that. The cat itself is not a good image either.
Favs: Butterfly above. Sweet done. Like everything there.
Lisa_Turpin June 1st, 2009, 4:26 pm Voting: 4. The cat image seems to be poor quality, and the way it's positioned on the icon feels a bit awkward. I agree with Tenshi that you should probably have erased the background and blended the image in a bit better.

Due: June 7th
leah49 June 1st, 2009, 6:23 pm I was #8 the Gryffindog one. I love the feedback I recieved. I hadn't thought about toning down the firetruck but I like that suggestion and I might try doing that just to see how it works. I agree about the border. I'm a border person. I put borders on m graphics and I tried playing with the border I created so it wouldn't be the same old plain border, but maybe it was a little too much.
Hysteria June 1st, 2009, 6:45 pm I liked the boarder on yours Leah :) I think it just should have been more even all the way around. Mine was:
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a188/monty3590/HPLIMSROUND1-1.png
Quite happy with the feedback I got and very happy with how it worked out :D
Vita June 1st, 2009, 7:04 pm Mine was number #9 (the dog with the stick) I had planned on doing dramatic black and white but because of the contrast I couldnt make it work. I was going for a somewhat dreamy look. Don't know if I achieved it but I was relatively ok with the graphic. I appreciate the feedback I received and agree with most if not all of it :D I think it should have been toned down a touch :agree:
Leah - I thought your graphic was great! I think it looked very polished and the layout of it was great :D
Hysteria June 1st, 2009, 7:47 pm I thought yours was brilliant Vita :) Great composition, colours and image choice.
flimseycauldron June 1st, 2009, 8:44 pm So this was me.
http://www.cosforums.com/images/img/1442404a22ad950897f.jpg
I'm probably going to sound like a chump :p but I was kind of perplexed by the comments I recieved. Usually the comments help me in the long run but in this instance I'm not sure what I can apply different. Had a lot of comments on the color. Some said they were bright and nice. Others washed out. So if I used more contrast the second group would have been happier but the first would've disliked it as over saturated. Some said the icon was blank and someone else said the font was wrong but I felt that a bigger different font would have overcrowded the icon. I think a few more specifics would have helped I guess. :D At any rate it was a beautiful table.
Hysteria, yours was definately my fave! :)
_LoonyLovegood_ June 1st, 2009, 9:16 pm I'm probably going to sound like a chump :p but I was kind of perplexed by the comments I recieved. Usually the comments help me in the long run but in this instance I'm not sure what I can apply different. Had a lot of comments on the color. Some said they were bright and nice. Others washed out. So if I used more contrast the second group would have been happier but the first would've disliked it as over saturated. I've definitely had that experience - I did this week to an extent. I think it just goes to show that everyone has different opinions and preferences with graphics, and while listening to other people's comments/criticism can be very helpful, in the end you have to go with what you like best. Anyway, I thought yours was very well done! This week definitely had an amazing table, so great job everyone who submitted something!

Pretty happy with the feedback <3
I know the choice of the unicorn mighta seemed weird lol but I think of the people in ravenclaw i/e cho chang, luna lovegood, rowena ravenclaw and they seemed to have a mysterious, magical glamourous air to them, like the unicorn
Tenshi June 2nd, 2009, 1:31 am Mine was 2. I am satisfied with the comments I got and I totally agree that it's too oversaturated. Silly me did an icon first and then had to change it to a banner in a hurry. I should learn to read posts properly.

If you want another opinion on this - I think I'd make the background behind the horses darker and/or less busy - you want to really emphasize the silhouette of those horses - because that's very dramatic, and you are not using it to best effect. IMHO.
I still love the idea!!!
Here is mine:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/Elwen2/XII_1A.jpg
I still like the owl. I knew immediately when I saw the task that I wanted THAT owl. The owl, complete with the olive branch, is the device on the coins of ancient Athens (http://americanhistory.si.edu/collections/numismatics/demarete/images/athowdorw.jpg). And as Athena's owl, it is obviously a symbol of wisdom. The Athenian silver owl is also a symbol of wealth (or at least it was in those times I care so much about). I guess it's a personal thing - an icon full of symbols that aren't generally clear, but that mean a lot to me.
A number of people (including myself) commented on the colour of the caption. I really wanted it silver, but it made the icon look awfully boring. I am still not very pleased with the whole composition, and I just lost the will to do anything about it after a while!
Hysteria June 2nd, 2009, 9:07 am So this was me.

Oh I know that feeling  Happened to me every other week last round. I guess in instances like that it's best just to go with your gut and what you like and what you think looks good, and it looks like that's what you did :tu:
And thank you :D As soon as I saw that picture of the fox I knew I had to use it. I thin it was Klio who said that I should have included the fox's ears? I did try that but then it looked like he was too small or cut off and the negative space was too much.

Yes, it was me. Never mind - it's often easy to say stuff when you critique an image, and it might even be right, but there simply isn't a solution.
I know that, like you, I have often had criticism for a certain detail which I has actually tried to fix, but couldn't without making it look worse. (like this week with the suggestion that my caption should have been silver, not red).
RemusLupinFan June 2nd, 2009, 2:57 pm (like this week with the suggestion that my caption should have been silver, not red).I liked the red. It may not be a Ravenclaw color, but I think it offsets the blue really nicely. :tu:
I liked yours too flimsey. :agree:
Hysteria June 2nd, 2009, 3:07 pm I liked the red too. It contrasts nicely with the other colours.
AliceLongbottom June 2nd, 2009, 8:29 pm Because I've been rather flighty the past few weeks I accidentally missed an entry this week! It is a stunning graphic I thought it was only fair to share it!

Again, sorry to the maker of this graphic that I missed it :(
I love how you did this, with the butterfly incorporating the Ravenclaw colors. Very nice and bright, but somehow calming at the same time. I also love the text. Vita, will the maker still get to come back next week without a pass, even though they weren't on the table? Great job to the maker.
RemusLupinFan June 2nd, 2009, 8:40 pm ^Wow, that's a beautiful entry! It definitely would have been among my favorites. :agree:

I think I was the one to comment about the font, I can elaborate if you'd like:
I just thought with that almost medieval looking graphic, the horses, colors etc. A pixelated, 21st Century font such as the one you chose didn't fit. I think more of a periodic font would have suited the image. Also I think the same with the bullets. The 21st Century text/bullets mixed with the 16th Century pictures/colors just didn't go well together for me.
Mine was number #9 (the dog with the stick) I had planned on doing dramatic black and white but because of the contrast I couldnt make it work. I was going for a somewhat dreamy look. Don't know if I achieved it but I was relatively ok with the graphic. I appreciate the feedback I received and agree with most if not all of it :D I think it should have been toned down a touch :agree:
I really, really thought your entry was amazing. It was by far my favorite! Great job!

Well, I would hope so! I think the entry got only very positive comments. Would be a pity if the maker of that icon couldn't stay in the race! :)

Oh, absolutly :D I'm not heartless  It was completely my fault so she'll just pick up next week like normal, keeping her pass and everything.
Hysteria June 3rd, 2009, 4:04 pm This week's task. Can we use text? Does 'two spots of colour' mean that the whole image is in b+w and then two parts of it can be in colour or literally two spots of colour..?
Vita June 3rd, 2009, 4:37 pm This week's task. Can we use text? Does 'two spots of colour' mean that the whole image is in b+w and then two parts of it can be in colour or literally two spots of colour..?
Yes you can use text.
Two things must be colored (whole things) Hope that makes sense!
Hysteria June 3rd, 2009, 5:04 pm ^ Thanks Vita :D Just wanted to double check.
_LoonyLovegood_ June 4th, 2009, 8:55 pm Yes you can use text.

May the text be colored, and if so, would that count as a colored thing? And can the two colors be similar but different shades, or should they be completely different? Sorry for the annoying pickiness.
Vita June 5th, 2009, 3:49 am They can be two shades :)
And you're really making me think here!
I'd say no on the colored text counting for one of your colored thing. :) Though if you already have it done like that I suppose I'd accept it
leah49 June 5th, 2009, 8:33 pm Thanks for the compliment, Vita. Maybe I am getting better at this. Good luck to everyone still in the contest.

Klio June 7th, 2009, 2:35 pm Deadline was (or will be?) today, I think? So I think it'll be a while!
Hysteria June 8th, 2009, 12:28 pm I have to re-evaluate my time zone. It's Monday night here (9pm) I didn't know we were that far behind!
Klio June 8th, 2009, 1:39 pm Well, the deadline was sometime yesterday - anything ebtween 24 and 12 hours ago (a time of day wasn't specified, just a date).
Not sure what's up. I just hope that the NEXT deadline won't be Saturday or SUnday, because that would make things a little difficult!

Please vote for the one you think is least effective in this challenge

Good luck!
I understand people are very busy this time of year finishing up with school and wanting to do things other than graphics and such as it is summer for some of us and all. SO- that's why the table is up late, wanted to give people extra time to get entries in. Just to clear up confusion, the due dates are on Sunday's rather than Saturdays :) After this round I think LIMS is going to take a solid 3 or 4 month hiatus to give people a break :)
LAST ICON MAKER STANDING - WEEK 3 CHALLENGE
Challenge: Broadway Musical lyrics!
Restrictions/Rules: You must create a banner sized graphic featuring a character from Harry Potter and at least 7 words from a song of one of the following famous Broadway musicals
RENT (http://www.metrolyrics.com/rent-lyrics.html)
Wicked (http://www.metrolyrics.com/wicked-lyrics.html)
Songs for a New World (http://www.lyricsondemand.com/soundtracks/s/songsforanewworldlyrics/)
The graphic must have a prominent color scheme of red, green and orange. (Any hue of these colors and saturation allowed. One color can be more prominent than the others but all colors must be present in some form )
Size: Signature
Due: June 14th
*prepares for questions*
Klio June 8th, 2009, 3:33 pm Well, two icons on this table only seem to have one colour, rather than two, or am I missing something?
Vita June 8th, 2009, 3:35 pm They are suppose to be two shades of the same color... At least I'm seeing the shades :\ I did say above it was ok.
Hysteria June 8th, 2009, 3:37 pm Fave- 2. I love the green! It looks beautiful. Great choice of picture too. The background works nicely... everything about this is great imo :tu: good job.
Vote- 3. I think the problem with this one is the text. If it looked a bit more magical and smooth it would match the image more. Turning the contrast in the black and white up would look good and would make the candles stand out more. I like the idea though.
Edit. I missed a couple on the first viewing
flimseycauldron June 8th, 2009, 4:11 pm 001: I totally forgot about Umbridge. The choice of pic and font is lovely but it does seem a little pixelly. Also I think I would have used pink instead of maroon but that is just personal taste.
002: Unsure of the glow and background but I really like the coloring.
003: This picture of Dumbledore is infernally hard to work with. It really could use more contrast in the black and white area although the flames are colored nicely.
004: Perhaps the art you used was a watercolor? Because it looks blurry. The font and coloring are nice.
005: I was hoping that someone would do Armando. This is a lovely painting. (Isn't it famous?) I really like the gold coloring of his hat and the flowiness of the font although I'm not keen on the glow around it.
Voting off 3 sorry :(
_LoonyLovegood_ June 8th, 2009, 6:29 pm *prepares for questions*
 Sorry. Can the banner have more than one character?
(Also, this challenge is brilliant! I'm definitely making something even if I'm eliminated this round.)
Vita June 8th, 2009, 6:39 pm Oh yeah :) You can have more than one character. Just make sure the lyrics fit at least one character. Thanks!
leah49 June 8th, 2009, 8:43 pm Voting off: 1: It looks like a black and white photocopy, not very clear. It's hard on my eyes. I like the text and I do like the image, just not in it's black and white state. The two pieces of color just appear randomly chosen to me as opposed to the color chosen in the other graphics.
Fav: 3 I like the flames. I think the image could have positioned better and the text placed differently, but overall it is a decent graphic to look at.
After this round I think LIMS is going to take a solid 3 or 4 month hiatus to give people a break No, I don't want to! :whine:
Beatifically June 9th, 2009, 12:11 am This is difficult ...
Vote: 03 - This is a good image and I liked how you colored the flame, but I don't like the text. (Also, it's not much of a critique, but what is the second spot color? Just asking. :)) A better font could have been chosen and there should be varying sizes/fonts/decorations.
EmmyRocks June 9th, 2009, 12:32 am Fav: 4
Off: 2- Although I found the color cool, I didn't really like the colors together. I also found it a bit plain.

You need to provide constructive criticism for the graphic you vote off - explain what you didn't like about it. :) Otherwise, you're fine. :D
Klio June 9th, 2009, 1:20 am 1. I like the image you chose and the crop - great use of the colour spots, and the font is good. I think the contrast is a bit too much, though - or something like that@ the picture looks like it has been manipulated so much it has lost a bit too much quality. Still, I like the general set-up of it.
2. This is an excellent image, and I like how you used the colours. I think you should hgave done something differrent with the background - I love the white glow around him - but I think a darker backgroud with a more interesting texture could have brought out the image even better - and a more imaginative design of the caption (the full stop is distracting!).
3. I can't see that there are two colours here. This is a nice Dumbledore image. I think I'd have made it a bit darker and turned up the contrast a bit, to bring out rhe candlelight better. Not convinced about the plain font.
4. Took me a while to see that you used two distinct shades of green but yes, there they are. I like the picture you used and the crop. The background texture is lovely. I like the way you designed the 'hero' bit, but I think the other bit of the caption should have been designed differently - I am not quite sure... perhaps a font mix, or another font. Certainly in a way that you don't have half a line stuck there at the end. Still - I really like this.
5. This feels very 'wizardy' somehow. Dippet by Rembrandt, if I am not mistaken  I like the use of dark and light there (not too hard with THAT painter!)... not sure whether the colouring of the shirt works entirely - the edges are a bit sharp. Love the caption.
Fav: 4

_LoonyLovegood_ June 9th, 2009, 6:32 am One. The image seems to be of bad quality, but I like the choice in pictures and the text.
Two. Beautiful. I love the coloring, background, text, everything.
Three. I think this idea (the light) is extremely clever. The image isn't the best quality though. Have you looked at the B&W tutorial in the tutorials thread in this forum? I know I found it really helpful personally. The text is also a bit plain - a different font or color could have helped.
Four. Very well done. I think the choice of coloring is really cool, and the text looks great.
Five. This is a really cool choice in pictures. The coloring is awesome, love the text, the whole thing has a great look overall.
Vote: Three - sorry :(
Lisa_Turpin June 9th, 2009, 7:31 am Vote: 3. The crop feels awkward to me; I think you could do with some more space to the left of the image so Dumbledore doesn't look cut off and crammed in to the frame. Right now the graphic seems smushed together. Also, the font really does not fit the graphic. I would have chosen something else.
Favorite: 2.
And can I say how excited I am for this week's challenge?? I LOVE those shows, and I've been working on a piece from Songs for a New World so I already have my lyrics picked and a graphic planned. :D
Vita June 9th, 2009, 7:44 am You have no idea how happy it makes me to know someone else knows Songs for a New World! *glomps* seriously, you are my new favorite person!

I love Songs for a New World (and the others, of course)! I'm so excited for this challenge - it's going to be impossible to decide on a song, there are so many I love.
Hysteria June 9th, 2009, 8:20 am I've never had any experience with any of the shows at all  Should be interesting.
EmmyRocks June 9th, 2009, 7:00 pm You need to provide constructive criticism for the graphic you vote off - explain what you didn't like about it. :) Otherwise, you're fine. :D
Okay! I'll edit it. :D
wickedwickedboy June 9th, 2009, 7:41 pm 1. Nice use of the colors. The BW here gives the picture an overall old fashion look that goes well with Umbridge. I am not so fond of the white behind the lettering, but nice job overall.
2. This is really, really well done. I really like the photo chosen, the coloring, the matt background and the lettering is perfect. Great work.
3. I like this magazine BW. I think the candle lighting on the right candle is a little unfinished looking, whereas the other is quite nicely done. Love the way you lightened the lettering as you moved through the words, very creative. I am not sure if the blurriness of some of the art apart from Dumbledore was purposely done, but it rather works here. Nice job.
4. Is this supposed to be Regulus? I can't place the picture. I think it would have been better to clarify as it would give more meaning of the artistic intent here. The blotchy rendering is well done to create shadows - but I am unsure how the bush in the background is supposed to apply to the overall graphic. I like the lettering chosen though.
5. I really like this rendering. It is very well done - like a picture of an oil . I think the lettering is a little overbearing, despite it being black (which helps immensely actually), but in a way it works also - I am ambivalent about it I guess. But the overall effect is crazy cool.
Voting #4.
ETA: The clarity and near photographic effect of BW's like those in the tutorial is only one of many (and they are dynamic and awesome, I try fruitlessly to emulate them!). However, I think the matt, magazine and old fashioned BW effects also have their own bit of awesomeness. I just thought I'd put in a word of support for what I feel is one of the merits of graphics - their wide variety and variability. :D

Vita June 10th, 2009, 6:29 pm lol, well if it is any consolation Leah it was only by one vote. The voting was really close this week :D
Ok people who are involved with the GGC - please go comment on the table ---- please! If you have time! Please? Have a cookie if you do! Please?!
leah49 June 10th, 2009, 6:40 pm Really? Only one vote? When I last checked yesterday I thought it was more. Can I please come back and just forget that last week even happened? Please? Please? Please?
<--- Someone who really wants to participate.
flimseycauldron June 10th, 2009, 6:43 pm I expect a special challenge will be coming soon....:huggles:
leah49 June 10th, 2009, 6:54 pm :(
Lord Godric June 10th, 2009, 6:58 pm Speaking of the special challenge, since I originally signed up, but missed the first week, could I still enter? Or is that kinda a cop-out?
leah49 June 10th, 2009, 6:59 pm Well, you got a reprieve and were allowed to enter this week. A lot of people missed the first week, so Vita let them back in.
Vita June 10th, 2009, 6:59 pm Well since participation is down in both LIMS perhaps to extend it we can think of something like double elimination or something for the next round. Will ponder and see what I can come up with :D
Yep, as long as you signed up you more than welcome to participate in the special challenge
leah49 June 10th, 2009, 7:05 pm :( I wanna be in now! I only lost by one vote. I made a good icon. Why can't I get past the second round in this contest? I actually try. I don't use my pass. I don't forget about the contest. I participate. I make good icons. I know you all don't know which icon is mine when you vote, but it makes me wonder if I'm blind or something because I truly cannot see how my 2nd round icon is always the worst. I wasn't going to let this bother me this time. I expected it since it always happens. But, when I looked at the table I thought I'd made a pretty decent icon in comparison to the rest. I don't even see how being on a different computer could change that. Why couldn't there have been a tie so you could bend the rules like you did with the last round?
(I do like this competition. I think it's fun. It just leaves me confused).
ETA: I'm not hurt, just confused, and whining like a little kid. :sigh: Maybe I'll grow up tomorrow...
ETA2: I love edits. I am not going to give up (I mean I'm going to still sign up for future rounds). I am determined. If I submit an entry this week will you accept it? http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/begging.gif
ETA3: All the banners were good this last time which did make voting hard, so I'm not saying I was the best (I just favorited mine because I couldn't decide which one to favorite--a copout I know). When I saw the topic for this week I really wanted to make one. Anyway...:sigh: Maybe I'll shut up now.
browneyedkat June 11th, 2009, 12:03 am Okay, I must be missing something, because three of these don't seem to have lyrics...and one of the others has only four words. I'm very confused....What am I missing?
Vita June 11th, 2009, 3:05 am I just gave the challenge :) On Sunday I will post the graphics with they lyrics on them :D What you saw was last weeks entries. :D
Go ahead and make something Leah. I can put it on the table but I'll have to tell people it's not eligible for voting :D We would love to see what you come up with
browneyedkat June 11th, 2009, 4:01 am Ohhhhh!!! Haha, I understand now!!! Sorry, I'm kinda slow sometimes...=P

Honestly I really didn't like it and was certain I'd be out this week. But instead got a few faves and one vote. wickedwickedboy you asked who it was. I thought it was obvious but I guess I was wrong  It's young Snape. I used fanart because I couldn't find any good photos of him.
Leah your icons have improved a lot since you joined the competition. I don't know what programs you're using but many people in this competition (not all of course) are using software such as Photoshop which has more or less endless possibilities. It wouldn't surprise me if we also had a few artists or people who had done design work either (for instance I'm a design student and if I remember correctly so is someone else). I really hope you do submit something this week (even if it's not eligible) :)
Klio (you commented on the first bit of text) I actually made the second line of text intentionally. I know it looks a bit weird but I went with my gut and felt it worked but you're right I probably could have done it better.
Klio June 11th, 2009, 9:39 am Klio (you commented on the first bit of text) I actually made the second line of text intentionally. I know it looks a bit weird but I went with my gut and felt it worked but you're right I probably could have done it better.
Well, if I can claim any art background at all, it would be calligraphy, of which I have done quite a lot, also on commission.
I think it shows in my own way of dealing with writing - e.g. I rarely just use a font without adapting sizes for different letters or spacing between different letters. I am sure it doesn't always achieve the right effect, but I try! Took me a long time to learn how I can control fonts in photoshop as I do when I draw them by hand or create the layout with pen and ink.
I think the effect here didn't work mainly because that font isn't very good - unless you really want to create a sort of primary school writing impression - but even for that it looks a little bit too tidy and mechanical to look convincing.
IF you play with irregular lines (which IMHO is a great idea) you have to make it look intentional. A font mix helps - the spacing between lines could be made wider to make the whole thing look more deliberately designed. Also make sure that it doesn't look justified/aligned left by the computer. Make it look deliberate.
This font also needs to have the long 'ends' of the e and u removed where they are at the end of words (the font has those to join them to other letters in the middle of the word, but it looks unnatural at the end).
As I say - fonts often need adjusting by hand if you want them to look professional - I think this is ESPECIALLY crucial with anything 'handwritten'.
BTW: I think every graphic designer should learn calligraphy, and, if possible, oldfashioned typography: I learned a lot from a friend of mine who was a retired typesetter!.
Of course, I am not a professional, and one problem I have is that I don't usually get it right unless I spend quite a lot of time on it. Time a professional probably wouldn't have.

Size: Signature
Due: June 14th
*prepares for questions*
What now, sig or banner? :p
And the 7 words must be consecutive?
Hysteria June 11th, 2009, 12:35 pm Well, if I can claim any art background at all, it would be calligraphy, of which I have done quite a lot, also on commission.
I think the effect here didn't work mainly because that font isn't very good - unless you really want to create a sort of primary school writing impression - but even for that it looks a little bit too tidy and mechanical to look convincing.
You sounded like a spokesperson for my uni course in this post  But it's all true, I know. Over the past few weeks at uni we've been manually developing type (starting with Universal, cutting out the letters and doing letter spacing, word spacing and line spacing all by hand. Words cannot describe how excruciatingly painful that is) so I have developed an appreciation for the art but in these early stages of the competition am far too lazy to go into detail with that. To be honest, the type was the least of my concerns, I was more worried about the picture.
I'm glad you notice and point out things like this- otherwise I probably wouldn't give it a second thought :)
Vita June 11th, 2009, 3:08 pm What now, sig or banner? :p
And the 7 words must be consecutive?
Signature! Sorry Ill go edit that now!
Lady Elven June 11th, 2009, 5:05 pm :( I wanna be in now!
Anyway...:sigh: Maybe I'll shut up now.
it was one vote leah, compared to my practically unanimous vote out the first week, it means your icon was great but there were some that were just a step above it.
leah49 June 11th, 2009, 5:54 pm Go ahead and make something Leah. I can put it on the table but I'll have to tell people it's not eligible for voting :D We would love to see what you come up withDang it. ;) Can't blame a girl for trying. I'm okay with being voted out. Thems the rules. I just can't walk away quietly for some reason.
Thanks, elven, I really do think I'm cursed.
Thanks, Hysteria. I use Gimp. I actually thought about getting Photoshop when I purchased my computer a few months ago, but I don't like spending money.
Hysteria June 11th, 2009, 6:01 pm Leah if you know any friends with Photoshop maybe they'd be so kind as to loan it to you? I know with my Mac version I can load it on to two computers. Worth a shot.
leah49 June 11th, 2009, 6:02 pm Thanks, I hadn't thought of that.
Vita June 13th, 2009, 6:23 pm Since I was late last week I will extend the due date if need be but so far I have no entries besides my own. :)
leah49 June 13th, 2009, 6:36 pm See, Vita, this is what happens when I get voted out. :p
Klio June 13th, 2009, 9:01 pm Working on it. I thought the deadline was tomorrow evening?
Trawling through WHOLE musical scripts does take a lot of time, you know? And that's before the image making can start.... I like the colour restrictions. That's been fun so far. :)
AliceLongbottom June 13th, 2009, 10:45 pm But, when I looked at the table I thought I'd made a pretty decent icon in comparison to the rest. I don't even see how being on a different computer could change that. Why couldn't there have been a tie so you could bend the rules like you did with the last round?
I'm not sure what kind of computer you have, but I know that in my house we have a couple of different monitors that I look at the tables on. Depending on if you have an HD screen or just a regular monitor, it can make a difference in what the icons look like. I know that if I'm on a different computer and vote and then I switch to a different computer and look at the table again, I see things I didn't see before on the previous computer. Color saturations may look different, and levels can also look more (or less) contrasting. So, yes, I think that the kind of monitor and computer you have can definately show more or less on the icons that may change the votes.
leah49 June 13th, 2009, 11:41 pm That's true. It's something I've been trying to ignore, but I really need to take it into consideration. Thank you.
flimseycauldron June 14th, 2009, 3:37 am Since I was late last week I will extend the due date if need be but so far I have no entries besides my own. :)
Sent mine in. The pic I chose was crazy hard to work with (it took me forver just to get a decent crop) but I like it alot. Which means, of course, that I'll bomb. :p
Vita June 14th, 2009, 6:06 am Yeah it's due tomorroow but if I'm missing a load of entries I'll probably extend it another day or possibly a whole week depending on how everyone is doing.
Klio June 14th, 2009, 9:16 am I can't say that I wouldn't be grateful to get another week..... I am right in the middle of one of the craziest weeks in the academic year (at least in my corner of the world)... and that is at the end of a crazy year.
I have got the image which took a long time to get into the right shape, but I don't know yet how to get the text into the image - so I'll certainly be grateful to have a bit more time.
Hysteria June 14th, 2009, 9:30 am My laptop isn't working so I cant use Photoshop so I would have to pass if we didn't have another week but having said that it wouldn't be fair to other people who have finished to extend it unless everybody wasn't ready.
Klio June 14th, 2009, 10:23 am Well, I'll be waiting for Vita's verdict. If it's due in later today I'll fiddle something together - otherwise I'll take more time over it.
Lisa_Turpin June 14th, 2009, 8:07 pm I've got mine finished and sent in! This challenge was lots of fun. :)
Klio June 14th, 2009, 9:29 pm OK. I sent mine in. It's rushed, but I guess I have to learn how to make icons more quickly.... :)
leah49 June 14th, 2009, 9:34 pm Maybe if I took as much time with my icons as you do, Klio, I'd make it out of the second round. You make wonderful icons, so don't change a thing.b
Klio June 16th, 2009, 8:53 am Vita, could you perhaps call in and let us know what you have decided?
Vita June 18th, 2009, 5:00 am Hi all, sorry Ive been going through some family issues right now. Going to extend the challenge (or rather prospone) to this Sunday (June 21st, 1800 GMT) If you owled and said you used your pass you can always take that back and submit something for this last challenge.
Im so sorry for kind of going AWOL but I will get my head back on straight here now and get back on a proper schedule :D
Lisa_Turpin June 24th, 2009, 3:58 am I keep checking back and noticed the table hasn't made it up yet so I hope everything's ok on your end, Vita! :huggles:
8m57w6 June 24th, 2009, 7:14 pm Vita's had some family things recently, so she's taking a bit of a hiatus for the moment.
Klio June 30th, 2009, 10:48 pm I hope Vita's situation is better soon.
I'd just like to post here that I'll be away (and probably entirely unable to do any icons!) until 17th July.
I'd like to use my pass for any competition between then and now. Obviously, if there are suddenly two I'd have to drop out, but perhaps, after such a long break, we could make a slow start?
browneyedkat July 7th, 2009, 2:28 am I hope everything turns out alright, Vita!
Lisa_Turpin July 20th, 2009, 4:23 am Hey, Vita, I hope everything is going all right on your end. I noticed you've been on-line again recently; do you think we might be able to resume the contest soon?
pottermaina July 26th, 2009, 6:53 am So, I haven't been on this site and posted something since DH came out. I so remember doing this! Back when I had my paint shop pro, now I have photoshop and I don't know how to use it. :P
I'm definitely looking forward to this weeks. I LOVEEEEE broadway. Absolutely love broadway. In fact, I'm listening to it right now! Glad I saw this today. :)
Hope I remember to come back and vote!
Klio July 26th, 2009, 3:10 pm pottermaina,
This has been on hold for several weeks now. We don't quite know when the next round will be happening - if it happens at all.
I have to say, I sent a picture in and would like to see the next round at some stage, but Vita's RL clearly takes precedence.
I hope things are going OK, Vita....
pottermaina July 29th, 2009, 11:16 pm Oh, man. I didn't even realize that (I usually just skip to the tables to see the icons and whatnot) I hope everything is okay!!
Vita August 5th, 2009, 3:33 am Ok my lovies! I am back. First of all, thank you all SO SO SO much for your support and patience with me these past few months. Real life has been hectic and depressing to say the least and my heart just was not into graphics or running a competition for the time. Now, things have been on a steady upswing and I am ready to relaunch LIMS :) I am going to be posting the entries from the Broadway Show Tunes challenge (in a couple of hours, Im at work and don't have access to photobucket right now). They were all fantastic.
However, since it's been such a long time for everyone I think I am going to start LIMS XII all over again. So, consider this post sign ups for LIMS XII.2  Any and everyone is welcome to join.
Hysteria August 5th, 2009, 4:09 am Thanks Vita :) Glad you're back.
You're posting the broadway entries but since we're starting over I assume they don't count for the actual competition?
Vita August 5th, 2009, 4:46 am No, I don't think so... I don't know who was still in or who used passes or what so it would be too much of a headache to try and raise that competition from the dead. I know it's not the ideal solution but oh well.
Klio August 5th, 2009, 7:04 am Good to see you back, Vita.
But it's a real pity to just throw away the contest that was already running....
Perhaps we could reconstruct the situation together?
I know I was still in and hadn't used a pass.
Do you still have the owls from the last round? It should be failry easy to reconstruct who is still in from those - namely those who submitted icons and those who submitted a pass. Can't be too many left, to tell from the round before that.
You could just stop the use of any further passes and finish off LIMS XII. How about that?
Hysteria August 5th, 2009, 9:21 am This is only the third round though isn't it? We hadn't got far... maybe if it was kept just the people who were left in anyway and either reset everybody's pass or have nobody with a pass. Whatever is easiest I suppose.
flimseycauldron August 5th, 2009, 3:18 pm I'd be happy with starting fresh. However it would be lovely to see see the table all nice and pretty.
Glad you're back, Vita! :huggles: We missed you.
So if we start anew I'M IN!
leah49 August 5th, 2009, 7:17 pm Glad to have you back, Vita. I was worried you might not return! So are we going to start a new round or just continue with this one? Consider this me signing up if we do a new round.
P.S. Everyone don't forget the Graphics Contest is back up and running, so please submit something if you want.
Klio August 5th, 2009, 7:37 pm Actually, I just noticed that we had just been on round 3! I thought we'd been a lot further along....
Anyway, whatever we do, I'll be in.
Lisa_Turpin August 7th, 2009, 3:57 am I agree with Klio, I'd like to keep going from where we were if that's possible. If we don't, couldn't we just use the Broadway challenge as the first round of the new competition? I know I worked quite hard on my entry, and I'd love to use it for an actual voting round so I can get feedback.
Either way, I'm in.
Vita August 7th, 2009, 6:10 am Yes hello! I think that would be the best solution having the broadway challenge as the first challenge of the next round. I am still going to give sign ups a week or so then set the challenge.
Hysteria August 7th, 2009, 6:21 am SO we're signing up again and the first task is the same broadway one? Ok sounds good. I'm in.
Klio August 7th, 2009, 5:50 pm Sounds good!
My entry is already in, so I am obviously in the next round, too! :)
wickedwickedboy August 9th, 2009, 4:28 am I'm game. sign me up :)
Litium_femme August 12th, 2009, 12:41 am me too..if I can..
Vita August 12th, 2009, 4:18 am Ohh a new member! Welcome! You are absolutely welcome to join!
MyHeroIsLuna August 12th, 2009, 4:53 am I dabble in graphics. Sign me up if it's restarted.
Beatifically August 19th, 2009, 1:30 am I'm in!
It's been so long since we've done graphics. :sigh:
Lisa_Turpin August 28th, 2009, 6:10 am Any chance we'll be starting the new round soon? :)
Voldemorts8thHorcrux August 28th, 2009, 6:45 pm sign me up :D
