Still the king of all anime movies and began to launch the major anime craze in the 90's. A nice complex story with excellent animation, graphic violence, unique music and of course it's a once in a lifetime experience.

I loved Akira. It's not the nicest movie for your parents to catch you watching (at least at my age) but its really detailed and has a really good theme. It was one of the first anime movies i have ever seen.

It's definitely watch worthy and I think for that time a good animation.

I like the story line and the characters, especially Kei, Kaneda and Tetsuo (not when he turned into the monster though).

At first it was kinda hard to get used to the psycho kids, but after watching it a several time, did they kinda grow on me.

Yes it is but the Manga is probably better, i adored this movie since i was 15 in 1996 and it got me hooked into the genre.

Akira was awesome. A landmark in cel animation for the day, considering that they didn't have any computers to assist them at that time.

The last movie the creator made was Steam Boy, which was also good for animation too.

I love this anime. Stayed up late one night for no reason at all last year, found it, thought it was awesome. Months later I hear about it again and I look for it on youtube. Watch it again. Once again fall in love with it. :D Has to be one of my favorite anime movies.

Inb4 Hollywood makes a cringe-worthy adaptation of Akira to rival Dragonball: Evolution D:

I haven't seen it, but I own it! It was at a book sale (I know, a DVD at a book sale) for one dollar. I'm sure I'll watch it someday.

A part of me wants to say that I have seen it but I can't remember....
