Who would you have asked to the Yule Ball?

I reread Goblet of Fire and the amount of worrying Ron and Harry put into getting dates for the Yule Ball got me thinking who I would ask were I there.
I came to the conclusion that in all likelyhood I would have asked Luna Lovegood to the ball. Rather than a turn-off I find her awkward personality and brutal honesty endearing, and she is kinda cute.

Did Luna really exist as a character at that point though? I guess it doesn't matter at least she existed to someone...

Hm.... Severus Snape.... Or Draco Malfoy.... Neville.... Perhaps Hagrid.... I'm not sure. If Oliver Wood was still at Hogwarts at the time I would ask him most definatly.

I'm too shy so I would have waited for the guy to ask me. If I was in Hufflepuff I'd be dreaming of Cedric asking me and then be jealous of Cho. If I was in Gryffindor I'd want Ron to ask me. He didn't ask anyone until Harry got him a date, so when I heard the rumor that Hermione had a date I'd probably write Ron a note asking him. He'd say yes because I'm a nice (but shy) girl and he has no one else to go with (this would be before Harry gets him a date with Padma).

Who did Ginny go with, anyway? Or was she too young?

She was too young so she went with Neville. He needed a date and she wanted to go.

Fleur if she wanted, but probably she would turn me down in a heartbeat. Besides her, Luna. She is quirky, and I like that. JKR really didn't flesh out many female characters actually... Parvati is mean, Lavender is crazy. I can't think of many that aren't terrible and are described in detail.

I am way too shy to actually ever ask anyone to a dance, but I would wish that I could go with Victor Krum. I like him because he doesn't seem to need to talk all the time like most people, and because he doesn't get a big head from all his fame.

Not sure...Harry wanted to choose the girl by himself. And the twins would choose faster than me.

I'd probably end up with Crum or by myself-back at that age I was the bookworm that spends all her day in the library.

I would have asked either Neville or Ginny, which is funny because they ended up going together. They are both awesome and would probably be really fun dates. I'm not much of a dancer so Neville's clumsiness wouldn't have been a problem.

Hmmm... so many options, not that I'd ever have the courage to ask anyone. Much more fun to go to those things with a group so everyone dances with everyone, and there is no pressure. I've always loved George, but if it were a date, maybe someone more serious, but fun to be with. Definately not a Slytherin, hmmm, so I think George or many Neville. :)

Lets see...If I could choose anyone from all the books and from any time, I would ask Wood, Cedric, the Weasley twins or Sirius(when he was younger).

Hey, did you see her dancing in the GoF film with Filch? She looked bored, and yet was a relatively cooperative partner. One of the most agreeable in the room, in fact. Also, she wasn't loud enough to give anybody a headache. And since she was purring, she very clearly appreciated her partner. Also, kittahs are cute, and it's my life goal to one day hold a cat that doesn't try to claw its way out of your arms half the time you pick it up.

If I had been a teacher, I'd have invited Snape -- who would have begged off witht he excuse that he had to chaperone. But, it would have been worth it to see him in dress robes.

I still can't figure out why Harry didn't automatically think of either Hermoine or Ginny, since they were all friends. But, he was too busy pining over Cho and trying to get her to go with him. The most logical one for Ron, absolutely, would have been Hermoine. I don't know why he was so thick!

Twenty minutes later, after getting a thorough and razor-sharp tongue-lashing, I'd ask Neville, because he's unbearably sweet and wouldn't want to dance much. We'd just be two nerds, sitting on the sidelines, chillin'. I'd probably learn a ton about Herbology. :cool:

And I could always squeal and hug Snape later anyway, once the business of surprising him was over, and provided I could make a quick getaway before being assigned cleaning duty with Filch.

I am older than many of you, and a teacher. I guess I would be on chaperone duty, so I would definitley ask Snape. Always had a thing for a guy who pretends to be hard to figure out!

I would have asked Harry... he seems like my type of guy, also he can't dance and I can't dance so it wouldn't be embarrassing. I wouldn't have minded sitting at the edge and not joining in the dancing if he talked to me. Although the likelihood is that Harry would have rejected me straight out like he did to many girls and then I probably ask Neville or someone... actually in reality I wouldn't ask anyone, I would let the guy come to me.

Me too, Harry. But I would be too shy to ask him. On top of that, if I am bold enough to ask, he might say no. But if I have a choice of guys who asked me to go for the Yule Ball, and I could go with anyone, and if Harry was one of them, I would choose Harry.

I would probably ask Proffessor Binns. Even though he drones on, if I asked him questions, I am sure he would tell me some pretty interesting things, like when they asked about the CoS and if he was boaring, I could always leave and he wouldn't notice.
