zelinskas July 24th, 2009, 6:02 am I reread Goblet of Fire and the amount of worrying Ron and Harry put into getting dates for the Yule Ball got me thinking who I would ask were I there.
I came to the conclusion that in all likelyhood I would have asked Luna Lovegood to the ball. Rather than a turn-off I find her awkward personality and brutal honesty endearing, and she is kinda cute.
DH_epicwin July 26th, 2009, 3:30 am Did Luna really exist as a character at that point though? I guess it doesn't matter at least she existed to someone...
I'd have asked Millicent Bullstrode...I like me a nice firm headlock
You think I'm kidding...
usaquidditch July 26th, 2009, 2:44 pm i agree, i would have asked Luna
SevrusSnape July 26th, 2009, 4:07 pm Hermione Granger. Hermione Granger. Hermione Granger. Hermione Granger. Hermione Granger. Hermione Granger. Hermione Granger. Hermione Granger. Hermione Granger. Hermione Granger. Hermione Granger. Hermione Granger.
GriseldatheGood July 26th, 2009, 4:11 pm I am amused at the early concordance of men in this thread.
Either Neville (who is awesome with sauce on) or Colin Creevy. Colin would be a fun date if you could calm him down a little.
Dinkydudydums July 26th, 2009, 5:52 pm Ginny Weasley
alexiares July 26th, 2009, 6:13 pm Viktor Krum
or
one of the Weasley twins
Albino_Thestral July 26th, 2009, 7:03 pm Hm.... Severus Snape.... Or Draco Malfoy.... Neville.... Perhaps Hagrid.... I'm not sure. If Oliver Wood was still at Hogwarts at the time I would ask him most definatly.
leah49 July 26th, 2009, 7:57 pm I'm too shy so I would have waited for the guy to ask me. If I was in Hufflepuff I'd be dreaming of Cedric asking me and then be jealous of Cho. If I was in Gryffindor I'd want Ron to ask me. He didn't ask anyone until Harry got him a date, so when I heard the rumor that Hermione had a date I'd probably write Ron a note asking him. He'd say yes because I'm a nice (but shy) girl and he has no one else to go with (this would be before Harry gets him a date with Padma).
Dinkydudydums July 26th, 2009, 8:25 pm Who did Ginny go with, anyway? Or was she too young?
leah49 July 26th, 2009, 9:03 pm She was too young so she went with Neville. He needed a date and she wanted to go.
potterstinks123 July 29th, 2009, 6:27 am I'd ask Neville.
germanseeker July 29th, 2009, 9:28 pm hm, Ginny or Hermione
echo1034 July 29th, 2009, 9:35 pm Definitely Hermione. ^ ^
padfoot__lives August 2nd, 2009, 5:11 am Oooh. I'd have asked Fred for sure. And if he declined, Draco Malfoy would be my second.
QuackAttack August 2nd, 2009, 5:48 am Probably Neville. I like the Weasley twins, but I'd feel uncomfortable asking them 'cause I can be kinda shy.
GryffindorGirl5 August 5th, 2009, 8:20 pm I would have asked Harry....then if declined Ron then if declined again Malfoy!
Jezabel August 9th, 2009, 2:56 am I'd like to have gone with Fred or George. To me a sense of humor and a fun personality are the best qualities in a guy :D
MyHeroIsLuna August 9th, 2009, 3:01 am Fleur if she wanted, but probably she would turn me down in a heartbeat. Besides her, Luna. She is quirky, and I like that. JKR really didn't flesh out many female characters actually... Parvati is mean, Lavender is crazy. I can't think of many that aren't terrible and are described in detail.
LoonyForMoony August 9th, 2009, 3:11 pm I would have said Harry, but he was no fun at the ball. :P So one of the twins, or Cedric.
fredgirl August 9th, 2009, 3:23 pm I would have asked Fred.
HollieWeasley August 17th, 2009, 3:24 am I'd of asked Dobby.<3
or Ron... mmm Ron<3
ActingDude17 August 17th, 2009, 4:36 am Hermione or Ginny.
GinnysPygmyPuff August 18th, 2009, 11:57 pm oh this is easy.. ginny!! :)
Sydney_ August 19th, 2009, 12:15 am Hm, Oliver Wood :D except he was out of school by then.
SiriusBrown August 21st, 2009, 3:12 am Hermione
MC2456 August 22nd, 2009, 4:38 pm Draco Malfoy
Elphie_Rose_13 August 22nd, 2009, 8:49 pm George takes the cake for me... *swoons* He would have danced, rather than be boring like Ron and Harry...
TM_WandStick August 22nd, 2009, 9:35 pm I am way too shy to actually ever ask anyone to a dance, but I would wish that I could go with Victor Krum. I like him because he doesn't seem to need to talk all the time like most people, and because he doesn't get a big head from all his fame.
aishah August 28th, 2009, 6:08 pm George Weasley :D
Dancing_Blade September 12th, 2009, 3:48 pm Not sure...Harry wanted to choose the girl by himself. And the twins would choose faster than me.
I'd probably end up with Crum or by myself-back at that age I was the bookworm that spends all her day in the library.
Oh, wait, I still am. :p
And Crum did some actual effort to dance and be fun :D
IMissPadfoot September 12th, 2009, 8:23 pm Seamus Finnegan - it's the Irish accent ;)
guitarwitch16 October 9th, 2009, 6:26 pm I would have asked either Neville or Ginny, which is funny because they ended up going together. They are both awesome and would probably be really fun dates. I'm not much of a dancer so Neville's clumsiness wouldn't have been a problem.
CowsRSkary October 9th, 2009, 6:28 pm Ron.
Tonks_Animagus October 9th, 2009, 7:13 pm Um...That one is difficult...I suppose nobody. I would rather wait to be asked by someone else. :D
Love4Luna October 10th, 2009, 12:35 am Fred or Cedric
ronweasleysgrl November 1st, 2009, 9:38 pm Ron, Fred, Cedric, or Draco  And Sirius if he had still been a teen :)
Smitts November 7th, 2009, 7:16 am Hermione Granger or Luna lovegood.
Whichever was available.
Both are funny and smart. I love there hair too.
carunderwater November 14th, 2009, 2:00 am Hm.
If Wood were there at that time, most likely him.
If not him, one of the twins.
lovelyluna77 November 14th, 2009, 7:56 pm Fred or Draco :) fred is halarious and I would love to get to know draco
Cassiopeia November 20th, 2009, 2:32 am George... the book doesn't mention a date for him... and he totally deserves one...
Clockworthy November 20th, 2009, 1:53 pm Fred, George, or Ron.
Hooray for Weaselys!
Lunatic November 20th, 2009, 2:26 pm George... the book doesn't mention a date for him... and he totally deserves one...
I thought it was Katie Bell?
For me, Luna or whatever cute Ravenclaw caught my eye.
weasleychild November 27th, 2009, 7:37 am Harry! Except at the ball he wasn't very exciting, so second choice would be Cedirc!
weasleychild. (:
janis_joplin November 27th, 2009, 3:41 pm Harry, Fred & George, Sirius, James
RavenLH December 3rd, 2009, 7:14 pm Hmmm... so many options, not that I'd ever have the courage to ask anyone. Much more fun to go to those things with a group so everyone dances with everyone, and there is no pressure. I've always loved George, but if it were a date, maybe someone more serious, but fun to be with. Definately not a Slytherin, hmmm, so I think George or many Neville. :)
captain Sparrow December 9th, 2009, 4:48 pm Lets see...If I could choose anyone from all the books and from any time, I would ask Wood, Cedric, the Weasley twins or Sirius(when he was younger).
biscuitsforall December 9th, 2009, 9:17 pm I'd have asked Alicia, or Demelza or Katie or Angelina
Basically any of the females on the quidditch team (but not Ginny, she was always off limits)
MistressofRaven December 10th, 2009, 12:55 am Hermione or Draco.
oceanborn December 15th, 2009, 11:43 pm I would never ask anyone. Just like in real life. Would be too scared. But I'd hope Ron would ask me.
merrymarge December 26th, 2009, 6:02 pm I just wouldn't go to the ball. I can't dance. And I am too shy to talk to any boys.
Morghen January 14th, 2010, 8:02 pm If he was alive, Regulus would have been the first guy I would think about going with.
But if I didn't go with Regulus, I'd choose George or Draco.
lightreading June 26th, 2010, 10:02 pm Oliver Wood even though he probably would have talked about Quidditch the whole time. If not, Harry! I don't think Parvati really wanted to go with him and anyway, i would ask him early!
ThestralGirl418 June 27th, 2010, 11:54 pm Definitely Fred. He is amazing.
RIP, FRED D=
APolaris June 28th, 2010, 12:47 am I would have just sat around failing to even approach anybody with the impression that I wanted to ask them. However, were I forced to go, then I think the best choice would very clearly be Mrs. Norris.
AldeberanBlack June 28th, 2010, 3:19 am I would gone with Daphne Greengrass
Whom I imagine would have looked like Kristen Stewart
:elaugh::evil::love:
lightreading June 29th, 2010, 1:49 am I would have just sat around failing to even approach anybody with the impression that I wanted to ask them. However, were I forced to go, then I think the best choice would very clearly be Mrs. Norris.
Uh. Okay. :err:
APolaris June 29th, 2010, 2:34 am Uh. Okay. :err:
Hey, did you see her dancing in the GoF film with Filch? She looked bored, and yet was a relatively cooperative partner. One of the most agreeable in the room, in fact. Also, she wasn't loud enough to give anybody a headache. And since she was purring, she very clearly appreciated her partner. Also, kittahs are cute, and it's my life goal to one day hold a cat that doesn't try to claw its way out of your arms half the time you pick it up.
Montse June 29th, 2010, 3:16 am me? a ball? no way , I am such a geek , and I bet if I had been a witch , I would have been a geeky witch , no chance I would attend such a thing as a ball.
1. No one would have invited me
2. I would have never dreamed of inviting someone...
3. I am the kind who gets bored at dances or balls. so...
quicksilver92 June 30th, 2010, 1:40 am I would have gone with my best friend. *coughs* *face reddens*She's a girl.
winky45 June 30th, 2010, 12:34 pm Neville. He is shy and he is geniune. He is a nice enough guy. Not the coolest, but nice and gentle.
elursoboh July 6th, 2010, 1:36 am ron...but if he said no then id ask Seamus.
MeasleySweasley July 8th, 2010, 6:32 am I totally would have asked Ron..I love him :I
mugglebrnwitch July 21st, 2010, 10:57 pm Blaise Zabini.....yumm...but i would of put a silencing charm on him
LilyDreamsOn July 21st, 2010, 11:17 pm One of the Weasley twins. George, probably. Plus, Fred took Angelina.
sev_snapegirl July 21st, 2010, 11:43 pm Draco Malfoy! i love him!! if not then Neville
MinervasCat July 24th, 2010, 1:27 am If I had been a teacher, I'd have invited Snape -- who would have begged off witht he excuse that he had to chaperone. But, it would have been worth it to see him in dress robes.
I still can't figure out why Harry didn't automatically think of either Hermoine or Ginny, since they were all friends. But, he was too busy pining over Cho and trying to get her to go with him. The most logical one for Ron, absolutely, would have been Hermoine. I don't know why he was so thick!
If I was just a student myself, I would have asked one of those Bulgarian hunks. I love a man in uniform!
EvelynSnape1073 July 27th, 2010, 1:10 am Would you believe me if I said Severus Snape? No matter if I'm a student or teacher.
East July 29th, 2010, 12:47 am I would have asked Seamus. He's not my favorite character, but I think we'd have fun lol.
ignisia July 29th, 2010, 1:48 am ...I would have asked Snape first, to see the look on his face. And because he's made of amazing. If I played my cards right, and held back the intense urge to squeal loudly and hug him, I could probably get the chance to see him looking gobsmacked! http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/052/0/1/0151fcb6540ae829803e5519833e5a90.gif Obviously, I would be rejected, but it would be worth it. :tu:
I think I might also ask him to sign the inside covers of my books.
Twenty minutes later, after getting a thorough and razor-sharp tongue-lashing, I'd ask Neville, because he's unbearably sweet and wouldn't want to dance much. We'd just be two nerds, sitting on the sidelines, chillin'. I'd probably learn a ton about Herbology.
And I could always squeal and hug Snape later anyway, once the business of surprising him was over, and provided I could make a quick getaway before being assigned cleaning duty with Filch.
ThestralSong13 July 31st, 2010, 1:24 am DRACO MALFOY!!!
Without a shadow of a doubt!
merrymarge July 31st, 2010, 3:05 am Ludo Bagman. Oh, but I wouldn't dance. I just want to check out the Great Hall.
Numenorian July 31st, 2010, 2:55 pm Katie Bell. :D
LordVoldkins August 2nd, 2010, 10:58 pm i would asked Lily Evans if she was still at hogwarts.
secret_x_keeper August 2nd, 2010, 11:38 pm one of the twins, or draco <3
katie_scarlett August 19th, 2010, 3:31 am I would've asked Cedric or one of the twins.
PhoenixGirl111 August 19th, 2010, 9:09 am I probably would have gone with whoever asked me, unless I really hated them! But if I had the choice, probably fred (he's so funny!) or neville (he's sweet).
winky45 August 20th, 2010, 5:29 am Maybe I would ask Prof. Snape... do you think he will give me detention for that?
miss_pureblood August 28th, 2010, 1:03 am I would have asked Draco, Blaise or Luna
jnette August 28th, 2010, 6:15 pm I am older than many of you, and a teacher. I guess I would be on chaperone duty, so I would definitley ask Snape. Always had a thing for a guy who pretends to be hard to figure out!
ShireMagic August 30th, 2010, 7:09 pm I would have asked Harry... he seems like my type of guy, also he can't dance and I can't dance so it wouldn't be embarrassing. I wouldn't have minded sitting at the edge and not joining in the dancing if he talked to me. Although the likelihood is that Harry would have rejected me straight out like he did to many girls and then I probably ask Neville or someone... actually in reality I wouldn't ask anyone, I would let the guy come to me.
winky45 September 1st, 2010, 1:05 pm Me too, Harry. But I would be too shy to ask him. On top of that, if I am bold enough to ask, he might say no. But if I have a choice of guys who asked me to go for the Yule Ball, and I could go with anyone, and if Harry was one of them, I would choose Harry.
Winky45
Potter_fan September 1st, 2010, 8:21 pm Ginny Weasley Fiery hear and the personality to match :)
Verena October 20th, 2012, 9:18 pm Harry.
storyteller October 20th, 2012, 9:44 pm I would probably ask Proffessor Binns. Even though he drones on, if I asked him questions, I am sure he would tell me some pretty interesting things, like when they asked about the CoS and if he was boaring, I could always leave and he wouldn't notice.
Rew October 20th, 2012, 9:56 pm Katie Bell.
Seriously, why did no one ask her to the ball? She's perfect. <3
(Interesting side note: Born in late 1980, I would've been the same age as Ginny Weasley's class, making Katie two years ahead of me. I'd still have asked her anyway.)
Macindaw October 21st, 2012, 10:29 pm Fred or George for sure. Their sence of humor is hillarious an it would be so fun!
WelkinCooper October 22nd, 2012, 12:30 am Professor Snape, of course. I wouldn't have bought him a corsage though. Unless he wanted one.
SirDobster October 22nd, 2012, 3:58 am Sir Nicholas. And just listen to him talk.
merrymarge October 22nd, 2012, 5:03 am Ron, just because.
BrightestWitch November 17th, 2012, 4:40 pm Oliver Wood (if he was still there) or Fred or George.
elloran March 12th, 2013, 1:33 pm Not sure if I'd have asked anyone at all... not that I wouldn't have wanted to go, but most people would have said no towards people like me.
HRW March 12th, 2013, 3:28 pm Probably Hermione. I have a thing for short women with wild hair and a big mouth
