Sirius_Bluish August 28th, 2009, 11:17 am OK i know theres a previous post about "The funniest quotes in the movies"(or something similar), but for this thread I wanted to know your favourite quotes from the movies, not necessarily the most humorous, but more like the best adapted quotes from the books or lines that are'nt in the books but work well in the movie. Im sure theres loads.
My all time favourite would have to be my sig. "It was foolish of you to come here tonight, Tom." and,
"Without you, would leave the fate of our world to chance", i know its kind of Cliche' but i like it.
Noldus August 28th, 2009, 3:20 pm "Without you, would leave the fate of our world to chance", i know its kind of Cliche' but i like it.
I may be wrong, but I think he said this in the trailer. In the final film it was: "Without it, we would leave the fate of our world to chance."
Krums_Girl August 28th, 2009, 5:00 pm My favorite quotes are in GoF, when Fred and George are about to drink their Aging Potions, and then Hermione says, "It's not going to work?"
and then they say, "and why would that be?" (or something to that effect)
and then Hermione says, "Because this is an Age Line (duh, we already knew that) Dumbledore drew it himself. It's much too advanced magic to be fooled by something as pathetically dimwitted as an Aging Potion"
the the twins say, "and that's why it so genius," "is because its so pathetically dim-witted"
:D I love the twins
Lennon August 28th, 2009, 5:09 pm There are loads of great quotes in all the movies.
The most recent one that I can recall at the moment was from HPB, DD in the nurses office after ron drank the poison. Havn't watched the older movies for some time only HPB a few good ones I remember are:
"Oh to be young and feel loves keen sting.." somthing along those lines..DD
" How much for this?" Ron
"5 Galleons." Twins
"How much for me?" Ron
"5 Galleons." Twins
"But i'm your brother?!" Ron
"10 Galleons" Twins
Both those sequences really stuck out for me and worked really well in the film.
snugglepot August 29th, 2009, 2:24 am Draco's;
"I didn't know you could read?"
is the quote I like best.
Also Hermione's;
"What an Idiot!"
Mr Weasley's;
"Well, how did it go?..... That was very wrong boys, very wrong."
Ron's;
"You're the Defense against the Dark Arts Teacher!"
That is all I can come up with now.
LumosSempra August 29th, 2009, 2:29 am Definitely, the best quote for me, by far, is the one in my signature. Brilliant addition by Steve Kloves!! It is now my mantra :)
"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."
xhanax315 August 29th, 2009, 5:02 am There's one from SS by Dumbledore; it's when they're taking about the Mirror of Erised and Dumbledore says, "And that's one of my more brilliant ideas" or something like that. I also like the 'fate of our world' from HBP that was mentioned above and the on about turning on the light. Which movie was that from? :hmm: Is that from HBP? Also, "Once again I must ask too much of you, Harry." Also:
"Did you know then, sir?"
"Did I know I had just met the greastest wizard of all time? No..." Or was it powerful? :hmm:
There's one other one from HBP, but I can't think of it.
thefirestorm August 29th, 2009, 5:59 am PoA:
For in dreams, we enter a world that is entirely our own. Let him swim in the deepest ocean or glide over the highest cloud
LindaZhu August 29th, 2009, 6:01 am PoA:
For in dreams, we enter a world that is entirely our own. Let him swim in the deepest ocean or glide over the highest cloud
i like this quote! and although it wasn't in the movies, i like your signature quote too.
thefirestorm August 29th, 2009, 6:14 am i like this quote! and although it wasn't in the movies, i like your signature quote too.
Thanks (:
Yeah I really like the way Gambon says it, and how it zooms up to the Great Hall's ceiling and it's all Space-like.
LindaZhu August 29th, 2009, 6:38 am Thanks (:
Yeah I really like the way Gambon says it, and how it zooms up to the Great Hall's ceiling and it's all Space-like.
yes, exactly. one of the cooler scenes in PoA IMO.
Sirius_Bluish August 29th, 2009, 9:22 am I may be wrong, but I think he said this in the trailer. In the final film it was: "Without it, we would leave the fate of our world to chance."
Right you are, it was just of the top of my head.
PeerlessKid August 29th, 2009, 4:23 pm One of the best line in my opinion in the movies thus far screaming out at me whilst reading this thread is the one from PoA.
Let me paint out the scene again for some of you with foggy memories... :p
It's right at the end during the Dementor scene when they all come down on Harry and Sirius. This is when Harry and Hermione have travelled back in time and are now watching the scene from across the other side of the lake. Harry is so sure that his dad is going to come and save him. He's positive.
'He's coming Hermione, he's coming, my dad!'
'There's no one here Harry'
Normal Harry tries to fight them off with a feeble patronus.
'No! my dad is coming Hermione! Right there! He'll be right there!' *pointing at the edge of the lake*
All the dementors are swooping down and 'sucking the soul' out of Harry and Sirius as they're getting closer and closer.
'Harry... you're dying'
Sirius finally loses consciousness and you see his soul coming out of his mouth...
'He's coming...'
'You're dying Harry... you're both, dying...'
We see Sirius' soul escaping him, and we know it's now or never! Suddenly, the music just stops, and Harry runs down to the edge of the lake and bellows 'EXPECTO. PATRONUMMMMMMM!!!!!'
*WHOOSHHHHH MASSIVE EXPLOSION OF EMOTION*
... and Harry produces a massive patronus that takes out ALL the Dementors! Cue perfect music which adds to the sheer brilliance and emotion of this scene as we see all the Dementors forced away!
I'm always just left stunned watching that moment. :)
eaglestreasure August 29th, 2009, 5:12 pm PoA: *just after time-turner sequence*"That's us!... -- ..This is NOT NORMAL...!!!"
haha lol:lol:
eireogabu August 29th, 2009, 9:21 pm "Er-My-Nee .. Er-My-Nee .."
Perfection :D
Also, the whole Lavender/Ron thing in HBP, just hilarious.
Nearly forgot this one .. "But I am the Chosen One!"
Lennon August 29th, 2009, 11:07 pm Just saw PoA yesterday, another line I liked a lot.
"I usually have a very sweet disposition, in fact on more than one occasion James suggested I make the change permanatley. The tail I can handle but the fleas...they're murder."
Sirius
dchristen03 August 30th, 2009, 1:03 am "Don't worry, Hermione. I'll go easy on you."
"Don't forget the pincers... -makes pincer noises-"
"Harry!"
"SIR!"
Wow, most of my favorite quotes are from HBP and I don't think I can name them all!
eireogabu August 30th, 2009, 11:14 pm "Don't forget the pincers... -makes pincer noises-"
"Harry!"
"SIR!"
Both of those are brilliant, laughed so hard when i first heard them
"So if you don't mind, Professor, I will be going now."
The whole FF scene is fantastic.
whodude August 30th, 2009, 11:29 pm One of the quotes i like is towards the end of PoA, after the final dementor scene when Harry and Hermione are on there way to break Sirius out and Harry is explaining how he could conjure the Patronus and Hermione doesn't understand it at all.
Also, in HBP
Ron: "Did you and Ginny do it then?"
Its classic Ron, saying something a little inappropriate without realising what he is saying
Phendrona August 31st, 2009, 1:17 am "This is the most important memory I've collected. ... It is also a lie." - A.B
I loved this one. It stood out to me.
padfoot__lives August 31st, 2009, 9:11 pm I was thinking about it last night, and I really love Ron's line in Order of the Phoenix
"Because You-Know-Who's back, you tosspot"
Brilliant.
Sirius_Weasley March 24th, 2010, 11:10 am "It's the end of the world, Harry. You must learn to live independantly..."
Anybodu noticed Dumbledore mutter this under his breath in the 5th movie?
SoulSyster March 24th, 2010, 10:15 pm In OotP, after the Dumbledore and Voldemort fight, and Harry is writhing on the ground having flashbacks and thoughts being put into his head by Voldemort. One thing he sees is when he is looking in the mirror, and Voldemort is staring back, saying, "Look at me." The way he says it send chills up my spine, and I love it lol.
Slartibartfast March 25th, 2010, 12:33 am THAT one, SoulSyster is a huge amount of forshadowing in my opinion. I really didnt notice it until last time i saw that movie. I was like "Whoa dude, no way, he did not just say that...eerie."
Umbridge: "You first applied for the post of Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher?"
Snape: Yeeesss..."
Umbridge: "And you were unsuccessful?"
Snape: "Ob...viously..."
Umbridge: "Hm!"
Umbridge leaves and Ron chortles. Cue this: http://i43.tinypic.com/2dhs10w.jpg
Hehe.
Anhelda March 25th, 2010, 12:53 am Not a fun line, but Amos Diggory's "That's My Boy" wail at the end of GOF is heart-wrenching.
I like Ron's "Who are you and what have you done with Hermione Granger?" line in OOTP.
PotterFanDuh March 25th, 2010, 1:00 am GoF: "Oh my God! I've killed Harry Potter!" from Neville Longbottom after giving Harry the gillyweed. I don't know why it's funny. It just is.
Slartibartfast March 25th, 2010, 1:19 am Not a fun line, but Amos Diggory's "That's My Boy" wail at the end of GOF is heart-wrenching.
omg i hate that line because it makes me close to crying everytime i see it. D: Its just so horribly sad!
"I confess myself...disappointed."
theboywholived8 March 25th, 2010, 2:31 am Definitely, the best quote for me, by far, is the one in my signature. Brilliant addition by Steve Kloves!! It is now my mantra :)
"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."
Dumbledore had some brilliant lines in PoA.
Also, "For in dreams, we enter a world that is entirely our own. Let him swim in the deepest ocean or glide over the highest cloud," is great too (sorry it's been mentioned already.)
mexicant March 25th, 2010, 3:06 am Not a fun line, but Amos Diggory's "That's My Boy" wail at the end of GOF is heart-wrenching. Oh, that is a wonderful bit of acting. It never fails to make me tear up; I can't help but put myself in his place and think of how I would feel if it were one of my boys. :agree: Absolutely brilliant line, with such a moving delivery.
CurseCruciatus March 25th, 2010, 9:20 pm Umbridge: "You first applied for the post of Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher?"
Snape: Yeeesss..."
Umbridge: "And you were unsuccessful?"
Snape: "Ob...viously..."
Umbridge: "Hm!"
Umbridge leaves and Ron chortles. Cue this: http://i43.tinypic.com/2dhs10w.jpg
Hehe.
Definitely one of my favourite scenes!
Slytherin_12 March 25th, 2010, 9:29 pm THAT one, SoulSyster is a huge amount of forshadowing in my opinion. I really didnt notice it until last time i saw that movie. I was like "Whoa dude, no way, he did not just say that...eerie."

Hehe.
That definitely is one of the best quotes/scenes ever in the films/books. :rotfl:
Also, Draco's quote about Goyle in the films:
"I didn't know you could read..."
another :rotfl: moment!
ALX2112 April 6th, 2010, 4:09 am In CoS when they take the Polyjuice potion:
Draco: "Why are you wearing glasses?"
Harry/Goyle: "Er....Reading"
Draco: "Reading?! I didn't know you could read!"
pigtheadhdowl April 6th, 2010, 4:44 am in ootp, hermionie "just because you have the emotional capacity of a teaspoon."
or something along those lines.
and i don't remember if this was in the movie, but i dont think so. in chamber of secrets, or maybe sorcerers stone, when theyre all getting their sweaters and fred and george walk in.
ron: why do you get letters on yours?
twins: so we can remember who we are.
george: yeah, im gred...
fred:...and he's forge.
chaosman April 6th, 2010, 5:38 am It's not a quote but a look. I have two favorites.
In GOF when DD says "Now we know who has been stealing from your stores Severus." the look Harry gives Snape is pure awesome. It says clearly without words "I told you so!"
Also in HBP when McClaggen spews onto Snape's shoes the look on Harry's face is priceless. He is trying mightily not to laugh and tries to just slide off without being noticed.
MinervasCat April 6th, 2010, 5:51 am In CoS when they take the Polyjuice potion:
Draco: "Why are you wearing glasses?"
Harry/Goyle: "Er....Reading"
Draco: "Reading?! I didn't know you could read!"
This is one of my favorites as well.
Also, when they're seeing Harry off at the train station and Sirius goes along in dog form. Moody looks at him and says, "Sirius, are you barking mad?"
When Umbridge is doing her "evaluations" and says she understands he's been applying for the DADA position, he answers "yes." Then, when she says that he's been turned down for it each time he says,"OB-viously," with such distain. Beautiful.
Another one is when they are burying Aragog and Hagrid is describing why some people don't like spiders, Harry is on the side doing the little "pinchers" thing. That was one of the best parts of HBP.
pigtheadhdowl April 6th, 2010, 5:49 pm Also in HBP when McClaggen spews onto Snape's shoes the look on Harry's face is priceless. He is trying mightily not to laugh and tries to just slide off without being noticed.
i dont remember that part. i have to watch it again. and look for the pincer things that harry makes.
Teghan9559 April 6th, 2010, 10:34 pm I love it in COS when ron says, "Follow the spiders! Why couldn't it be follow the butterflies?"
Slartibartfast April 7th, 2010, 5:31 am Also in HBP when McClaggen spews onto Snape's shoes the look on Harry's face is priceless. He is trying mightily not to laugh and tries to just slide off without being noticed.
Omg, thats so hilarious!
McClaggen: "What are these?"
Harry: "Dragon balls..."
Snape appears and says something like "Potter." and Cormac: "HAWRRRGGHHHJPHHH!"
Snape looks down and then looks up: "You've just earned yourself a month's detention, McClaggen..." :rotfl:
MistressofRaven April 7th, 2010, 6:40 am Omg, thats so hilarious!
I love that part. I also like right after that when Harry asks where Dumbledore's travelling and Snape just looks at him and walks away. I know it's not a line, but the silence is funny.
ALX2112 April 16th, 2010, 4:42 am Omg, thats so hilarious!
Oh man that was just cinematic gold!
Bella_Crucio_U April 21st, 2010, 4:44 am I love that part. I also like right after that when Harry asks where Dumbledore's travelling and Snape just looks at him and walks away. I know it's not a line, but the silence is funny.
Hahaha I loove that part! I crack up every time it comes on. The way Snape just totally ignores Harry and walks away is priceless.
I also like the part when Draco says 'I didn't know you could read".
Then in the Shrieking Shack during PoA Sirius says "Why don't you run along and play with your chemistry set" I think that's really funny. Later when Remus and Sirius are arguing Snape says something like "Look at the two of you bickering like an old married couple." hehe I just love any part with Sirius.
Another line I love is "Get away from my godson" said by Sirius right before he punches Lucius.
MistressofRaven April 21st, 2010, 6:00 am Speaking of Draco I like when he says "You two shoppng for your dream hope? It's a bit grand for you isn't it Weasley? Don't you family all, uh, sleep in one room?" I just want to smack him sometimes but he has great lines.
Slartibartfast April 21st, 2010, 7:50 am Sirius in OotP: "Nice one, James!" I dunno why, but it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside when he says that to Harry.
Snape: "Turn to page three hundred and ninety four..." hehe...also:
Snape: "That is the second time you have spoken out of turn, Miss Granger. Are you not able to control yourself, or do you take pride in being an insufferable Know-It-All?"
willfitz April 21st, 2010, 9:28 am Fudge- "He's back!"
Harry- "Well then, by all means, sir, come with me!"
MoodysMagicEye April 21st, 2010, 2:35 pm Kingsley Shacklebolt :- "you may not like much minister, but you can't deny, Dumbledore's got style".
gelowo93 April 21st, 2010, 4:03 pm Loads of great quotes have already been mentioned :tu:
I love the part in PS when Harry and Ron are playing chess before Hermione goes home for Christmas:
"That's totally barbaric!"
"That's Wizard's Chess"
Malfoy's line in GoF is awesome as well:
"My father and I have a bet, you see. I think you won't last ten minutes in the tournament. He disagrees - he thinks you won't last five"
Oh, and Ron's classic line from CoS:
"Follow the spiders, why couldn't it be follow the butterflies?"
Those lines crack me up and the delivery is perfect
DorrisTheClock April 21st, 2010, 5:27 pm "She's only interested in you because she thinks your 'The Chosen One'."
"Hermione, I am The Chosen One."
Bella_Crucio_U April 24th, 2010, 2:08 am "You two shoppng for your dream hope? It's a bit grand for you isn't it Weasley? Don't you family all, uh, sleep in one room?"
Hahahaha
Another by Draco after he gets attacked by Buckbeak and he calls Buckbeak a bloody chicken. hehe
Also the whole Christmas scene in OotP where Mr. Weasley just gets back from St. Mungo's is really funny to me. The way Molly is talking is what cracks me up! Also when Ron has the vest on and Hermione says-"I don't understand why you dont want wear it Ronald." Then he says-"Cause I'll look like a bloody idiot, that's why." Ha
CurseCruciatus April 24th, 2010, 4:25 am For some reason, I also really liked when Sirius said "Nice one, James." He just sounded 20 years younger and it just kind of slipped off his tongue. That line was jaw-dropping, literally.
caitsQuill June 15th, 2010, 11:14 pm I love when Hagrid gives Harry his birthday cake in the first film "Baked it myself, words an' all!" It just makes me smile.
And Ollivander is creepy and awesome when he says "I wondered when I'd be seeing you, Mr Potter."
Fudge- "He's back!"
I freaking hate that! Mostly because everyone ends up laughing when he says it. That is not the moment for comic relief in my opinion, Harry was just possessed!
nattyweasley June 16th, 2010, 12:32 am "It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."
this quote was my words of wisdom in my yearbook for hall of fame =)
winky45 June 16th, 2010, 1:35 am I like the part in CoS when Harry and Ron took polyjuice to become Crabbe and Goyle.
Draco said: Father said Dumbledore is the worst thing that happens to Hogwarts...
Harry: NO!
And in order to cover his mistake, when Draco asked then who else is the worse thing that happens to Hogwarts, Harry himself answered, "Harry Potter".:D
Winky45
Bella_Crucio_U June 16th, 2010, 1:41 am Harry- "Well then, by all means, sir, come with me!"
Haha the delivery and the way Harry does his little arm motion while saying that makes him look like a creeper. I love that!
I like the part in CoS when Harry and Ron took polyjuice to become Crabbe and Goyle.
Draco said: Father said Dumbledore is the worst thing that happens to Hogwarts...
Harry: NO!
And in order to cover his mistake, when Draco asked then who else is the worse thing that happens to Hogwarts, Harry himself answered, "Harry Potter".
Yeah and when Harry says "You're wrong" Draco says in a really funny voice "What you think there's someone who's worse than Dumbledore? Huh? Do you!?" So funny!
Whenever the phone rings and it's some recording or a person doesn't respond we say that Draco line in the funny voice like him XD
Celedor June 16th, 2010, 3:01 am "Sir?!" - Harry stage whispering back to Professor Slughorn in the sixth film, after Slughorn catches Harry outside the castle and stage whispers, "Harry?!" God I love Dan's delivery of that line.
Fury June 19th, 2010, 1:46 am My favorite quote will always be "Never Better" by Hermione in SS/PS. When I first heard that, I swear my heart skipped a beat.
I also love:
The "Er-My-Nee" line: Just perfect!
And when Hermione goes "Oh shut up," after that scene.
snapes_witch June 19th, 2010, 1:52 am For some reason, I also really liked when Sirius said "Nice one, James." He just sounded 20 years younger and it just kind of slipped off his tongue. That line was jaw-dropping, literally.
Really rather sad too, since it wasn't James, but Harry (if I'm remembering the same scene).
HirallyFloo June 22nd, 2010, 5:40 am "The binding is fragile." - Harry
For some reason, that always cracks me up. Every time. I think it's a combo of the pitiful choice of an excuse and Dan Radcliffe's defensive body language as he backs away from Hermione.
Lady Elven June 23rd, 2010, 5:18 am In CoS
If he ever gets out of Azkaban, I'll kill him! -Ron
It got cut but the twins bit about Harry "he's a seriously evil wizard"
GoF
the twins in the tent both before and after the game "dumb krum" and the singing!
Slartibartfast June 23rd, 2010, 9:04 pm It got cut but the twins bit about Harry "he's a seriously evil wizard"
Yeah they should have put that in the film! "Make way for the Heir of Slytherin! Seriously evil wizard coming though!" lol
RemusPotter June 24th, 2010, 3:56 pm In OOTP, Harry to Umbridge:
Harry: ''I'm sorry professor, but I must not tell lies''
heathurrr June 24th, 2010, 4:05 pm ^ definitely one of THE best lines!
mexicant June 24th, 2010, 5:37 pm Ooh, that's a favorite line of mine, as well! I absolutely loved the delivery of it, and the smug sentiment behind it. Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside every time I watch it.
Bella_Crucio_U June 24th, 2010, 7:31 pm Ooh, that's a favorite line of mine, as well! I absolutely loved the delivery of it, and the smug sentiment behind it. Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside every time I watch it.
Definitely agree! I still remember seeing OotP in theaters at midnight and everyone cheered when he said that. Great line!
merzi July 13th, 2010, 1:40 am In OOTP when they take Umbridge away ... and I don't remember what she said exactly but I love when Harry said : "Sorry, Professor(I'm still not so sure it's like that)...but I must not tell lies."
I LOVE IT!
And for the upcoming DH last film I really hope to listen to that "Not my daughter you *****!"
TheHeadBoy July 13th, 2010, 3:30 am My kids and I constantly quote GoF:
Ron: "Hermoine...you're a girl."
Hermione: "Oh, well spotted Ron!"
melissa62442 July 13th, 2010, 3:34 am I loved in hbp when Harry said to Hermione "It feels like this." in regards to seeing Ginny with Dean. I could really feel the emotional connection between the two and it almost had me in tears.
lovexpotter15 July 13th, 2010, 3:36 am Hermione in Goblet of Fire at the Yule Ball to Ron
"Next time there is a ball, Puck up the courage to ask me before somebody else does and not as a last resort"
It was in the book too:)
APolaris July 13th, 2010, 4:22 am I'm still going with "Why do they have to travel in... packs?" I know exactly how he feels, even while considerably older.
Also, most of Dumbledore's lines in the first three films would do nicely, despite my personal lack of preference for the first two films in general.
Oh yeah, and Ron's wand in CoS. "Say it... I'm doomed." Harry: "........ *nods* You're doomed."
lightreading July 13th, 2010, 6:13 pm IMO, it was "Viktor's more of a physical being," and Harry's :err:
MagicHeart July 13th, 2010, 6:59 pm "It's the choices that show us who we really are." - Sirius Black, but Dumbledore also touches upon a similar phrase.
FutureAuthor13 July 13th, 2010, 7:08 pm This has probably been said before, but I love this little comical dialogue exchange in Order of the Phoenix:
Umbridge: You applied first for the Defence Against The Dark Arts Post, is that correct?
Snape: ...Yes.
Umbridge: But you were unsuccessful?
Snape: ...Obviously.
Ron: *snorts*
Umbridge exits.
*Snape hits Ron on head with book*
:rotfl: Cracks me up everytime!
lightreading July 13th, 2010, 7:12 pm My god yes. That's awesome! :clap:Snape ROCKS!!!
FutureAuthor13 July 13th, 2010, 7:27 pm My god yes. That's awesome! :clap:Snape ROCKS!!!
Of course. :D
I do also love that scene in Goblet of Fire when he keeps on hitting Harry and Ron on the head when they are talking about how on earth are they going to get dates for the Yule Ball instead of studying. :rotfl:
BlackCatScott July 13th, 2010, 7:32 pm I like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIWuPh1y0u8
:)
lightreading July 13th, 2010, 8:17 pm Oh, no wait. I know my favorite.
"Snape--he trusted you!"
Fawkesfan1 July 13th, 2010, 9:48 pm My god yes. That's awesome! :clap:Snape ROCKS!!!
Yep he is :D ... I also loved the 'you don't have to call me sir, professor...' conversation in HBP. That one was just priceless :rotfl:.
lightreading July 13th, 2010, 9:54 pm It truly was.
Bella_Crucio_U July 13th, 2010, 10:16 pm "Snape--he trusted you!"
The delivery was great. I got the chills when Dan said this because it's so sad. Love this line!
lightreading July 14th, 2010, 2:37 am I cried...so did quicksilver. He was sitting near me.
quicksilver92 July 14th, 2010, 2:39 am L I G H T R E A D I N G!
merzi July 14th, 2010, 3:22 am I do also love that scene in Goblet of Fire when he keeps on hitting Harry and Ron on the head when they are talking about how on earth are they going to get dates for the Yule Ball instead of studying. :rotfl:
I always laugh at that scene whenever watching GoF. Specially when Ron makes a pathetic effort to invite Hermione after watching Fred (right?) inviting Angelina.
lightreading July 14th, 2010, 4:05 am Yeah, it was Fred.
 Ron was so pathetic in GoF...I felt sorry for Hermione.
merzi July 14th, 2010, 4:46 am Yeah, it was Fred.
 Ron was so pathetic in GoF...I felt sorry for Hermione.
Yeah. he's so...lame? :err: And I laughed as hard as I could when I saw for the first time what he dressed like for the ball.
Sordane July 14th, 2010, 5:23 am "There is no good or evil, only power, and those too weak to seek it..."
-Lord Voldemort
mugglebrnwitch July 14th, 2010, 6:43 am i absolutely love this quote from Dumbledore in CoS:
"It is not our abilities that show what we truly are. It is our choices."
in HBP where Harry, ron and Hermione are at the 3 broomsticks and Ron catches Ginny snogging Dean and he tells everyone to leave- but Hermione says something along the lines of "what if ginny saw me and you snogging...would she get up and leave?" LOL...i love that part it was really cute...especially seeing ron's face
and ofcourse...rons "bloody hell" haha..
jackson86 July 14th, 2010, 3:34 pm my favourite quotes which is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Dumbledore: It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to your enemies, but a great deal more to stand up to your friends.
Lemongrass July 14th, 2010, 3:59 pm One of my all time favourite quotes, is when Hermione says to Ron, in Philosopher's Stone, "You've got dirt on your nose, by the way... Did you know? Just there..."
Taryn9394 July 14th, 2010, 5:28 pm I liked the "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU B***H!" Line from Mrs. Weasley!
lightreading July 14th, 2010, 5:51 pm That one rocked.
62442MAGIC July 15th, 2010, 2:51 am Since I just re-watched GoF last night, I have to say Ralph Fiennes delivers a line that gives me the chills every single time!
"After tonight, no one will ever again question my powers. After tonight, if they speak of you, they will speak only of how you.. begged for death...and I, being the merciful lord...obliged."
Geez...this makes me even more excited for November! :D
lightreading July 15th, 2010, 4:39 am OMG, that one is so scary.:scared:
APolaris July 15th, 2010, 6:28 am Nah, the Voldemort line that gives me chills is "I want to see the lights leave your eyes!"
FutureAuthor13 July 15th, 2010, 8:35 am Nah, the Voldemort line that gives me chills is "I want to see the lights leave your eyes!"
:eeep: Yes, that gave me the chills, too. And, even though this is not exactly a quote, the part when Voldemort touches Harry's scar and feels nothing but Harry himself screams in agony and Voldemort imitates his screams mockingly, that scares me, aswell.
lightreading July 15th, 2010, 3:26 pm I think we can all agree that Voldemort is scary, in general.
Jonny7003 July 15th, 2010, 4:15 pm "The Chinese Fireball oooooooooooooooo."
- Barty Crouch
Love that line. He's just a weird old man :D
lightreading July 15th, 2010, 4:54 pm He really is.
queenofsugar July 15th, 2010, 5:25 pm "But, I am the chosen one." *smack*
Perfect! :D
And Ron after the poison mead scene: "These girls...they're gonna kill me Harry!" or something like that...
FutureAuthor13 July 15th, 2010, 5:38 pm "But, I am the chosen one." *smack*
Perfect! :D
And Ron after the poison mead scene: "These girls...they're gonna kill me Harry!" or something like that...
 Yeah, and don't forget:
Lavender: What's she doing here?!
Hermione: I might ask you the same question!
Lavender: I happen to be his girlfriend!
Hermione: I happen to be his... friend.
Lavender: Oh, don't make me laugh! You two haven't spoken in weeks. I suppose you want to go out with him now that he's suddenly all interesting!
Hermione: He's been poisoned you daft dimbo! ...And for the record, I've always found him interesting!
:rotfl:
Fawkesfan1 July 15th, 2010, 10:13 pm "The Chinese Fireball oooooooooooooooo."
- Barty Crouch
Love that line. He's just a weird old man :D
:rotfl: Thanks for reminding me of that line. He certainly was random, that's for sure.
mexicant July 16th, 2010, 12:11 am "But, I am the chosen one." *smack*
Perfect! :D
And Ron after the poison mead scene: "These girls...they're gonna kill me Harry!" or something like that... A lot of people hate this quote, but I agree with you - I think it's hilarious, and it is so completely teenage boy to me. It's a great little moment for Harry to show that despite the fact that he is destined to face Voldemort yet again, that he has so much resting on his shoulders, he is still a 16-year-old kid who is interested in girls.
Slartibartfast July 16th, 2010, 12:36 am "The Chinese Fireball oooooooooooooooo."
- Barty Crouch
Love that line. He's just a weird old man :D
Oh yeah! I love that one! I love the look on his face. Like that Chinese Fireball is supposed to be scarier than a rampaging Horntail.

I like that quote too.
This one jumped to my mind.
"If I didn't know any better DRACO, I'd say you were afraid."
PeerlessKid July 16th, 2010, 1:15 am "The Chinese Fireball oooooooooooooooo."
- Barty Crouch
Love that line. He's just a weird old man :D
:rotfl: OMG Thanks for making me laugh, I absolutly love that line! Even more so the one that he follows up to that when Harry realises that the Hungarian Horntail is the last one left and mutters it underneath his breath and Barty Crouch snaps back, 'What's that boy!'
I like that quote too.
This one jumped to my mind.
"If I didn't know any better DRACO, I'd say you were afraid."
That was in the first movie when they were in the Forbidden Forest wasn't it? That reminds me of, although I know it's not a quote but Draco's face when he sees the flying hooded figure! :rotfl: His scream is priceless and then you see a snap shot of him running away in the background lamp bobbing along in his hand :p
merzi July 18th, 2010, 5:41 am Oh! I recently watched HBP! (FINALLY!)
And there's the scene where the trio is with McGonagall after the Katie Bell incident:
McGonagall: "Why is it, that whenever anything happens, it's always you three?"
Ron: "Believe me, Professor. I've been asking myself that same question for the past six years."
Oh! I simply LOVE Ron's answer! :)
And Harry's "Poof!" when talking about Slughorn's fish!
FloydianSlip July 18th, 2010, 5:42 am Ron: "Spiders...the spiders...they want me to tap dance"
Harry: "You tell those spiders, Ron"
Probably my favorite comedic moment in the film series that wasn't in the books (either this, or McLaggen puking on Snape in HBP)
ProtegoTotalum July 18th, 2010, 5:55 am "Dragon balls."

*snorts loudly, knocking the cat off her knees and onto the floor*
jimmalougrigsby July 19th, 2010, 9:18 am One of my favorites is in PS/SS after the Trio and Neville encounter Fluffy.
Hermione says something along the line of, "I'm going to bed before you come up with a plan to get us killed, or worse, expelled". Ron replies, "She has got to get her priorities straight."
Brilliant! Only Hermione would consider getting expelled from Hogwarts a fate worse than death.
FutureAuthor13 July 19th, 2010, 9:29 am "Dragon balls."
'Nuff said.
Snape: *slowly and menacingly looks up* You've just earned yourselves a month's detention McLaggen. *Harry tries to sneak away* Not so quick Potter.
And also, when Snape gives Harry Dumbledore's message in Halfblood Prince:
Harry: Travelling? Travelling where?
Snape: *pause* *Blatantly ignores Harry and walks away*
:rotfl: As always, his expression is priceless as he walks off screen! :D
lightreading July 19th, 2010, 2:56 pm Tee hee, yes.
Snape ROCKS.
Juandicimo July 19th, 2010, 7:22 pm OoP, for Alan Rickman's perfect delivery:
[when Umbridge confirms that Snape did not get the DADA job]
Snape: Obviously.
gelowo93 July 19th, 2010, 7:28 pm  Yeah, and don't forget:
Lavender: What's she doing here?!
Hermione: I might ask you the same question!
Lavender: I happen to be his girlfriend!
Hermione: I happen to be his... friend.
Lavender: Oh, don't make me laugh! You two haven't spoken in weeks. I suppose you want to go out with him now that he's suddenly all interesting!
Hermione: He's been poisoned you daft dimbo! ...And for the record, I've always found him interesting!
:rotfl:
:rotfl: I love the "daft dimbo" bit
In COS when Harry and Ron have taken the polyjuice potion and they run into Malfoy, Harry still has his glasses on and he says they're for reading and Malfoy replies "Reading? I didn't know you could read."
Oh and in OotP:
Luna: I hope they have pudding
It's just a perfect Luna line IMO :)

Snape is the man! It was BRILLIANT casting him as Severus Snape; J.K. Rowling wanted him to portray her character and once again, she made the perfect choice!:tu:
My favorite quote/scene from the movies comes from PoA, and of course, it involves Snape:
When Snape enters the DADA classroom, slams the door, whips out his wand and closes the windows, and brings down the projector screen, all with such indifference. He whips around to the class, and in that commanding, yet chilling voice says, "Open your textbooks to page three hundred and ninety-four!" I LOVE THAT SCENE!
It goes on with:
Snape: "This is the second time you have spoken out of turn, Miss Granger. Are you unable to restrain yourself, or do you take pride in being an insufferable know-it-all?"
Ron to Harry: "He's got a point, you know."
Snape: "Five points from Griffyndor. (Murmuring from class) And as an antidote to your ignorance, on my desk by Monday morning, 2 rolls of parchment on the werewolf, with emphasis on recognizing it." (Class groans)
Harry: "But sir, it's Quidditch tomorrow!"
Snape: "Then I suggest you take extra care, Potter. Loss of limb will not excuse you. Page three hundred and ninety-four!"
SNAPE IS THE MAN!!!!!!!
Lady Elven July 21st, 2010, 6:12 am oh I forgot one: in SS/PS when hermione does the full body bind (its late and I don't remember the spell) on neville and ron goes:
You're a little scary sometimes you know that, brilliant but scary.
MuggleGirl09 July 21st, 2010, 3:12 pm Probably any comment that comes out of Ron's mouth in response to Hermione, and any of Snape's comments. I also love this quote from Sirius Black: "We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are."
minimart1995 July 21st, 2010, 4:55 pm Horace Slughorn: What about you, Miss Granger? What do your parents do in the muggle world?
Hermione Granger: Ah, my parents are dentists.
Horace Slughorn: And is that considered a dangerous profession?
Love that one! :) From HBP I'm fairly sure.
PeerlessKid July 22nd, 2010, 10:51 pm Snape is the man! It was BRILLIANT casting him as Severus Snape; J.K. Rowling wanted him to portray her character and once again, she made the perfect choice!:tu:

Ah the imperious Alan Rickman  I love everything he says, he's so brilliant. That scene is done so well, one my favourite :tu:
oh I forgot one: in SS/PS when hermione does the full body bind (its late and I don't remember the spell) on neville and ron goes:
You're a little scary sometimes you know that, brilliant but scary.
It's so funny when Ron walks over Neville after that and tells him 'It's for your own good you know' The nerve to tell someone who's just been hexed :p
This thread is fast becoming my favourite on here, keep it coming people!
merzi July 23rd, 2010, 1:11 am You know ... I just remembered other scenes in HBP.
When Harry meets Slughorn trying to steal from Sprout's and he goes away :
Slughorn : "Harry!"
Harry : "Sir!" Oh I love the effect of his voice over the Felix Felicis.
Also at the Slughorn party when Harry tries to sneak from Snape after the McLaggen incident:
Harry : "Sorry, sir, but I really should be getting back to the party. My date...
Snape: "Can surely survive another minute without you."
SNAPE IS THE MAN! And there could not be better actor for the character but Alan Rickman! :)
And when Ron gets ridiculously "in love" with Romilda Vane :
Ron : "It's no joke! I'm in love with her!"
Harry : "Alright, fine, you're in love with her! Have you ever actually met her?"
Ron : "No... Can you introduce me?"
And one of Luna's lovely quotes : "I've never been to this part of the castle. Well, not awake. I sleepwalk, you see. That's why I wear shoes to bed.":)
Nyjets4004 July 27th, 2010, 6:14 pm Severus Snape: Do you remember me telling you we were practicising non-verbal spells, Potter?
Harry Potter: Yes.
Snape: Yes, Sir.
Potter: There's no need to call me 'sir,' Professor.
I realized Harry REALLY is the Chosen one after this
EDIT:Be brave, Professor. Be brave like my mother... Otherwise, you disgrace her. Otherwise, she died for nothing.
I also found that quote and i reallly really liked it.
rainbowapplefiz July 27th, 2010, 8:20 pm One of my favorite quotes was from HBP when Ron and Harry were in their dormitory discussing Ginny and Harry goes "Ya know, she's got nice skin."
Another one from HBP: Luna and Harry were on the way into the castle and his nose was broken from his encounter with Malfoy, so she offered to fix it for him. "I have done several toes, but how different are they really?" She goes on to say "Personally I think you look a little more devil-may-care this way, but it's your choice." Gotta love Luna!!
merrymarge July 27th, 2010, 9:05 pm My favorite quote, when Harry found out that Sirius betrayed his parents, and he looked at ron and Hermione and yeled, "he was their friend"! I know some people think it's cheesy, but I like it. I also liked when Snape and Harry were in Snape's potion closet and Snape held up a bottle and asked Harry what was in it. "Bubble Juice, sir?" I also like when Dobby knocked over Lucius Malfoy, then Dobby said, "you shall not harm Harry Potter". Dobby is so small compared to Lucius; he is just standing there in front of Harry & telling Lucius to leave Harry alone.
SwedishSkinJer August 24th, 2010, 3:37 pm Edit: Wrong thread.
N_Mado August 27th, 2010, 11:48 pm McGonagall: "Why is it, that whenever anything happens, it's always you three?"

THese are great....
MissGranger1979 August 29th, 2010, 9:40 am Hermione: 'Look at my face'.
Ron: 'Look at your tail!' - COS
'What happened between you and Professor Quirrell is a complete secret. So, naturally, the whole school knows.' - Dumbledore, PS
'Why is it always me?' - Neville, COS
'It's not our abililities that show what we truly are. It is our choices.' - Dumbledore, COS
N_Mado September 5th, 2010, 6:54 pm I've just remembered, these lines from the DH are great..
The silver doe chapter,
“Hermione, will you please—”
“Don’t you tell me what to do, Harry Potter!” she screeched. “Don’t you
dare! Give it back now! And YOU!”
She was pointing at Ron in dire accusation: It was like a malediction, and
Harry could not blame Ron for retreating several steps.
I like girls' power :D ^_^
lightreading September 5th, 2010, 8:14 pm I also like when Dobby knocked over Lucius Malfoy, then Dobby said, "you shall not harm Harry Potter". Dobby is so small compared to Lucius; he is just standing there in front of Harry & telling Lucius to leave Harry alone.
:) I like that one too. Of course, I feel sorry for Lucius in that scene, because I'm a bit of a villain-lover, but hey, that's just me.
_Jai September 5th, 2010, 9:45 pm I have a bunch from every book but a few of my favs are....

"If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals." Sirius Black
