A desperate man's dream... Quest for the Hallows: general comments

Professor Dumbledore
February 24th, 2010, 7:40 pm
'The Hallows, the Hallows,' murmured Dumbledore. 'A desperate man's dream!'

'But they are real!'

'Real and dangerous, and a lure for fools, ' said Dumbledore.
'And I was such a fool. But you know, don't you? I have no secrets from you anymore. You know.'

'What do I know?'

Dumbledore turned his whole body to face Harry, and tears still sparkled in the brilliantly blue eyes.

'Master of death, Harry, master of Death!'

Sir, I hope you're okay. I agree with twins, you seem to be having some kind of flashback.

By the way, I think your signature is a bit out of date. :)

Wow, are we setting up for April Fool's day already??

Sir: I would say that if Harry didn't think you were a fool, then maybe you weren't.

Forgive thyself. :) The afterlife can be a great place.

Master of death? Well, I don't know about that, but you did manage to meet with Harry when he was between here and there. King's Cross, I think Harry decided. You suggested that it was all in Harry's mind - but no less real for that. But perhaps you were more in command of the situation than was suggested?

Professor Dumbledore, have you been dipping into Professor Snape's collection of elf-made wines?

Dumbledore is just looking for forgiveness. He had a dream to be "Master of Death". It was the last piece of the puzzle that Harry needed to hear to help him defeat LV.
I wondered though, did dumbledore really need Harry to defeat LV, or could he have defeated him himself. After all, Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald. He didn't kill him, but he defeated him. I thought Dumbledore could have done the same to LV.

'But they are real!'

'Real and dangerous, and a lure for fools, ' said Dumbledore.'

Hmmm, just like shopping for all the "doorbuster" sales on the Friday morning after Thanksgiving...desperate and dangerous, and only a fool would brave the insanity...

A lure for fools and a desperate man's dream...so what are the gains?

Yes, I know... It was a horrible movie, wasn't it?

Are we doing a remake?

He might have defeated him in the sense of depriving him of his body once again by killing him with the Elder Wand. But he wouldn't really be gone because of the horcrux-thingys. :) That's why Dumbledore didn't want to kill Voldemort in OotP. Harry would have still been a horcrux, so Voldemort wouldn't truly be vanquished. Only Harry could do that.

If there is, I hope the dear departed Headmaster remembers that none of the Hallows had anything to do with computer graphics; therefore, nothing in a contest based on them should be a computer graphics challenge, either!

...deathly hallows...deathly hallows...

Tempting...the idea of immortality.

Does the desire to rule...to dominate, come with it?

Personally, I am rather scared of the Hallows.

The idea of being master of Death does not in the least appeal to me, nor does the idea of the kind of power that might come with it....

But if there is a quest we can go on to be of service, Professor Dumbledore, I shall pledge what little I can contribute.

My apologies.

This old man fell asleep for a couple of days, happens when you have nothing to do but sit and wait until something exciting happens in the Headmistress Office

As for bringing up this conversation with Harry, some of you definitely have the perception of Miss Granger and not that of Professor Trelawney.

There's excitement, and then there's...excitement.
An old Chinese curse refers to "interesting times."
It would be nice to be able to pick and choose the excitement however. If for no other reason to poke a little harmless fun at Professor Trelawney, respectfully speaking of course.

That sounds dangerously close to a compliment. ;)
