q7x23 June 29th, 2010, 2:32 am That huge streak of fire we see. Could that be someone crashing, or could that be the dragonfire button from Hagrid's bike?
I'm thinking the DE or V set the bike on fire, it looks like its crashing.
AccioHP June 29th, 2010, 2:32 am NEW LEAKED VIDEO!!!!!
It's short and in such a bad quality, but it shows some news images!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tpsycn7ymOk
It's hard to see but there are definitely
Some new stuff. Can you tell what is said at the end?!
Edit: that is the shirt Harry wears in hbo though. The lue plaid one.
Fury June 29th, 2010, 2:32 am Why would horcrux Harry be naked? I guess we both missed something.
That's been news for a while that Riddle-Hermione and Riddle-Harry are going to be somewhat naked in this scene.
decarus June 29th, 2010, 2:34 am I think both Yates and Dan confirmed he was gonna be naked for the Horcrux Vision. I'll try and find the link
I am aware of the news. I just don't think it makes sense.

What you really fear is inside yourselve or something like that...
I can also see a portrait and what I think is Malfoy's Manor
heathurrr June 29th, 2010, 2:36 am I think I'm changing my mind on the part where Voldemort is grabbing harry's face. I used to think it was a dream but I dont think so anymore. I think its possible that its right after Harry 'reveals' himself [clearly in a different area than in the book] and Voldemort is confused as to why he's alive. maybe he 'lets' Harry try to duel him kind of like in GoF which is why Harry makes it outta that situation? Thats the only thing that kind of makes sense to me.
SiriusBlack101 June 29th, 2010, 2:37 am Harry doesn't look naked.
Click Here (http://gallery.the-leaky-cauldron.org/default/fullpic/265562)
Harry puts his clothes back on before Ron destroys the locket horcrux.
Oh, and about the shot with Voldemort casting a spell with Bellatrix behind him... on MuggleCast, they speculated it was Voldemort destroying the protective charms around Hogwarts. If you pause the trailer at 1:56 (official HD trailer from WB on YouTube, but it should be the same point on any feed), you can clearly see what look to be turrets from the castle between Voldemort and Bellatrix.
Edit: Oops, decarus already mentioned the above a few posts back. Guess I should have refreshed first!
LoonyForMoony June 29th, 2010, 2:37 am Ooh, the trailer gave me chills. Can't wait, and I'm not even a huge fan of the films. :wow:
dancing_snape June 29th, 2010, 2:39 am Just saw the trailer and holy smokes! It looks completely fantastic! Man, the wait for it to hit theaters is going to be long, especially for people who are impatient like me.
Jack5555 June 29th, 2010, 2:39 am Nevermind about the tomb.
What the question is now, is WHERE IS SNAPE IN THE SHOT OF HIM!?!?!
Oh, and Lucius is in the forest scene, he and Narcissa are visible in the background. So that means he lives until then, if he even dies :).

That was Harry's shirt from the final scene of HBP. Though there did seem to be new footage there.
I am not sure about this. It is so poor quality.

Oh, and Lucius is in the forest scene, he and Narcissa are visible in the background. So that means he lives until then, if he even dies :).
He looks like he is either in the Shrieking Shack or perhaps in Hogwarts somewhere. So it is either his death scene (interestingly enough the MuggleCast people thought they heard the snake, so maybe it is his death scene) or it is part of the Prince's Tale.
SiriusBlack101 June 29th, 2010, 2:44 am What the question is now, is WHERE IS SNAPE IN THE SHOT OF HIM!?!?!
I know, I hate when they tease us with these quick shots in trailers! Here are a few ideas others have thrown out about the situation:
- This is before he dies, and Harry is seeing his death through Nagini's eyes like he saw the attack on Arthur Weasley in OOTP
- This is Snape during one of his memory scenes, maybe when he learns Lily is dead
HPFanNewbie June 29th, 2010, 2:45 am I think we see voldie reacting to Bellatrix's death ANd that was.Gregorovitch!
Lord Godric June 29th, 2010, 2:46 am He looks like he is either in the Shrieking Shack or perhaps in Hogwarts somewhere. So it is either his death scene (interestingly enough the MuggleCast people thought they heard the snake, so maybe it is his death scene) or it is part of the Prince's Tale.
I definitely think it's his death scene through Nagini's eyes, although I didn't imagine Snape to be so scared when he was dying.
I think this image (http://gallery.the-leaky-cauldron.org/default/fullpic/265536) is the most frightening I have ever seen.
heathurrr June 29th, 2010, 2:49 am Why cant it be him running from Mcgonogall? Those windows look like they could be some upper floor hogwarts windows to me.

I think the fact that it isn't a dream may have been confirmed earlier by David Heyman -->
The new movie focuses heavily on Harry's tangles with the evil Lord Voldemort. "Harry and Voldemort go wand to wand in the courtyard," says longtime producer David Heyman. In one scene, Voldemort grabs Harry's face and malevolently hisses "Why do you live?" And brave Harry responds, "Because I have something to live for."
From USAToday, link from --> http://hpana.com/news.21139.html
It sounds like the face-grabbing is part of the courtyard showdown.
Maybe I am wrong.
heathurrr June 29th, 2010, 2:51 am Oh okay. well yeah like I said, I think it is after he has revealed himself to be alive.
me_potter_fan June 29th, 2010, 2:52 am Why cant it be him running from Mcgonogall? Those windows look like they could be some upper floor hogwarts windows to me.
thats wat i think it is.
LoonyForMoony June 29th, 2010, 2:53 am The congregated Death Eaters are absolutely terrifying.
decarus June 29th, 2010, 2:54 am I really like this shot (http://gallery.the-leaky-cauldron.org/default/fullpic/265525). Something about all those death eaters just waiting on Voldemort and waiting on Harry. I actually think this scene looks pretty disturbing.
Lord Godric June 29th, 2010, 2:54 am Why cant it be him running from Mcgonogall? Those windows look like they could be some upper floor hogwarts windows to me.
I suppose it could be. Although Snape would have to bust through the glass by the looks of it to escape.
lcbaseball22 June 29th, 2010, 2:55 am Oh dear guys...I have 269 pics, this is not going to fit into 1 or even 8 posts
There's a post limit of 30 images if I recall so I'm going to have to divide it up between 9 posts, yes that's right, NINE!
Fhaps June 29th, 2010, 2:57 am In the book Harry sees part of the Shack scene trough Voldemort's eyes... it's possible they added a bit of Nagini's perspective; it's possible.
I have to said that, if that is Snape's killing scene, I portrayed the lightning totally different. Yeah, I know it's just a second what we saw and it can be still raw footage; still seems too light.

Well if I can catch a break in the posts I can double post which will combine 'em all into ONE post...but that could be really tricky considering we've got 30+ members posting/viewing at the moment
boushh June 29th, 2010, 3:05 am So in the photo of Snape (http://gallery.the-leaky-cauldron.org/default/fullpic/265576). Could this be the three broomsticks? The windows made me think it.
Maybe. That's another good option. It has that style of window panes. So does Hogwarts though. If we could see the top of the window we could be more certain if it's Hogwarts or not.
Oh and yeah that shot of Bella and Voldemort with the bright light. Definitely at Hogwarts. It's clear on the hd version.
I like the idea of the split happening when Voldemort breaks into the tomb and that lightning shot happens. I think that's very possible if it coincides at the right time in the plot.

But the courtyard where the final battle is happening is completely destroyed (http://gallery.the-leaky-cauldron.org/default/fullpic/265569). It doesn't look that way when Voldemort has Harry's face (http://gallery.the-leaky-cauldron.org/default/fullpic/265552). Also Harry seems to be wrapped in some blue cloth (http://gallery.the-leaky-cauldron.org/default/fullpic/265552) that he isn't in during the duel scene.

Lord Godric June 29th, 2010, 3:11 am BTW, Dan appears to have given an incredible performance! yay!

Well even if the split before, during, or after Malfoy Manor. Voldemort gets the elder wand around that time in the book, so him taking the wand could easily be the end of the film. It would be strange to not end with the trio, but i could see that.
ActingDude17 June 29th, 2010, 3:18 am Harry seems to be wrapped in some blue cloth that he isn't in during the duel scene.
That would be Voldemort's robe.
Lord Godric June 29th, 2010, 3:19 am That would be Voldemort's robe.

decarus June 29th, 2010, 3:20 am I am not convinced it is his robe anymore. If it is it has Harry tied up.

Yes.

They never put up the video for when they put it on the website. The video is only for when they are live. Until tonight I didn't know they even had video! I only thought it was a podcast, and only audio, so I am surprised!
franckolat June 29th, 2010, 3:27 am I like the idea of the split happening when Voldemort breaks into the tomb and that lightning shot happens. I think that's very possible if it coincides at the right time in the plot.
"I got the wand now. YAH! (lightning. credits.)"
That would be so awful! I don't like it. I also think it would fit more in part II, because the whole deathly hallows plot happens in part II.
Lord Godric June 29th, 2010, 3:28 am Yes.
I suppose it's possible, I just don't see how you can be definitive about that.
SnakeSinister June 29th, 2010, 3:29 am Wow! I just saw the new trailer and it was brilliant!! I am so excited I could burst! They are not holding back at all are they? I mean they showed the whole book from what I remembered. I was thrilled at the clip of Harry fighting Nagini and the last shot of Voldy and Harry wand locked is that basically the cover of the DH book?? I can't believe they showed that! This looks to be fantastic just as I was getting a little lackluster over the last two installments. Wow, can't wait for this great end to the series in film.
Snapeprince June 29th, 2010, 3:30 am This movie is going to be ridiculously awesome, I can't wait!
MoodyHarry June 29th, 2010, 3:37 am But the courtyard where the final battle is happening is completely destroyed (http://gallery.the-leaky-cauldron.org/default/fullpic/265569). I didn't mean the face grab happened in the courtyard - I think before, like leading up to the big final moment, but after Harry returns from the dead, so to speak.
The face grab shows both of them on a kind of tiny bridge or walkway - there are chains that look like they are holding up like a catwalk or something. I picture it located off of the central open courtyard.
Face grab occurs, Harry says his awesome line in his awesome way, throws off the curse/blue cloth, and off they continue into (or headed to) the courtyard scene.
It just sounded in that link that it was part of the epic final scene. We just don't know how many things are going to happen leading up to the final wand showdown, if that makes sense.
The cloth around Harry is not quite the right colour - it's bluer than Voldemort's cloak/sheath thing that he's wearing. Voldemort's clothing is black, with dirt over it (I think).
However, the blue tone could just be a result of special effects to put a snake-like, fluid moving cloth around Harry. ( I picture it slithering up Harry like a snake).
Wait - I take that back - the sleeve of Voldemorts outfit looks the same as the material around Harry.
katana June 29th, 2010, 3:42 am Why cant it be him running from Mcgonogall? Those windows look like they could be some upper floor hogwarts windows to me.

Note: The reason there's so many is cause I like to try and capture change in position, facial expression, camera angels, etc...yeah, I'm a bit obsessive  Well hope those are satisfactory, more to come soon!
I love how you did each position of Voldemort's face, it was really eerie having him turn and look at me. :scared: :tu:
katana June 29th, 2010, 4:08 am Not how I pictured him, but still looks good!
Me either. I always pictured him with long blond hair, kind of like Lucius, so his look kind of threw me off.
And thanks for the screencaps lcbaseball.
The look of LV's skin is kind of creepy with all the veins and stuff. I really like each shot of Harry coming to face LV and how he closes his eyes.
silver ink pot June 29th, 2010, 4:11 am Hmm, I thought that the Potter's house was destroyed?
Though I can see the cinematic reason if they do move the Nagini attack into Harry's old nursery. That's where Voldemort was ripped from his body, so it makes sense that he'd have his vision of trying to kill Harry back in the same room.
Edit: MuggleCast is on live right now, btw!
Let us know if Mugglecast mentions the snake scene.
I was hoping that Harry would go into the Potter house when I went through the book for the first time. I guess JKR was making it a sacred space in the book. But in terms of the movie, since they showed Lily and Harry in the nursery in SS, it makes a circle to come back to that so Harry can see his childhood toys there. After all, Harry also has the memory of his parents' deaths, and it frankly makes more sense for him to be in their house than Bathilda's. I think an audience will connect with that.
From what I could see in the trailer, the snake is just coiled up like a toy snake, then it jumps on Harry. It's the type of evil joke that Voldemort would like. It also reminds me of the evil jack-in-the-box in PoA during the boggart scene.
(I'm sort of relieved because in Buffy the Vampire Slayer there is a scene in the episode "Two Meat Palace" about an old Lady who has a snake come out of her neck - Bathilda is just too much like that, in my opinion.)
MoodyHarry June 29th, 2010, 4:15 am Something else I just noticed about the Voldemort/Harry scene.
Harry's hands are tied up - you can see that he is leaning slightly forward, his arms are pulled back by the cloth and it's tied to the chain running horizontally in the middle of the fence behind Harry.
You can see it at the last two or three frames before the scene fades. Harry's arm moves as he speaks, and the chain moves also. You can also see that his arm and hand is pulled back.
So at some point, Harry is tied up by Voldemort, again sounding like a possible body-bind curse.
Hmmm....interesting....
OK, done over-analyzing this - off to bed!
AccioHP June 29th, 2010, 4:16 am I'm wondering where the Bathilda-snake scene is going to occur. It does look like a toddler room. For me I always pictured a really old house like it is in the book. The toy room looks so bright and new.
decarus June 29th, 2010, 4:18 am (I'm sort of relieved because in Buffy the Vampire Slayer there is a scene in the episode "Two Meat Palace" about an old Lady who has a snake come out of her neck - Bathilda is just too much like that, in my opinion.)[/spoiler]
That is such a funny episode of Buffy. Everything about the Double Meat Palace is funny. I agree though the snake coming out of Bathilda does make me think of that scene. Because it just looked like the snake was just sitting there it did make me wonder if they were going to cut the Bathilda coming out of the snake part. It may be unfinished though. They filmed that part a long time ago though, so it should have been worked on.
I wonder if the hole in the wall (http://gallery.the-leaky-cauldron.org/default/fullpic/265563) is supposed to be where the explosion occurred when Voldemort tried to kill Harry as a baby.
SnakeSinister June 29th, 2010, 4:18 am Thanx for the screencaps I was otherwise pausing the video of the trailer to analyze each part. I was most excited to still on Snakes death, the Nagini fight and Voldy and Harry in the great hall .....or what was left of it.
Bscorp June 29th, 2010, 4:22 am I definitely think it's his death scene through Nagini's eyes, although I didn't imagine Snape to be so scared when he was dying.
I thought it was Death-by-Nagini at first but this (frightened?) look- if that's what it is — makes me think it's part of his duel McGonogall and the other house masters. He probably just evaded a close shot from one of the head masters- in fact the more I think about it, this is more likely IMO. It has to be part of the duel between Snape and the other teachers as he is taking an evasive maneuver and/or has just been disarmed before he jumps out the window.
Nevermind about the tomb.
What the question is now, is WHERE IS SNAPE IN THE SHOT OF HIM!?!?!
It could be anywhere in the castle- wherever this "duel" between Snape and the other teachers takes place. Is it near the hospital wing, by chance??

Speculation festival: Bathilda could still be an Inferi who speaks Parseltongue but just to lead Harry to the Godric's Hollow house. Harry might be emotional and so he wants to go inside alone, so he leaves Hermione outside or downstairs. The "toy" snake attacks him, Voldemort shows up, and Hermione rushes in to save Harry at the last minute - just as she does at Bathilda's house in the book.
I can't help it. I love this toy snake scene. My true inner Slytherin is coming out tonight.
Jack5555 June 29th, 2010, 4:28 am In an interview, it was said they were making a really large window for the Bathilda scene, so it must be her house.

And it looks like someone or something is behind Griphook in the screencaps of them on the Gringotts cart. Who/what do you think it is?

I'm just not sure why Bathilda would have toys in her house.

It is really very gross. But all of those episodes about the double meet palace are really very funny. The first time Spike comes in and takes her order is a really bizarre scene and because it is so weird, it is really funny.
PS. Why does Harry seem to be in pain when he is screaming at Ron to kill the horcrux?

Haha that was very much CGI! I love the blocking of that moment with how Dan is thrown across the room. I remember that scene scared me in the book a great deal but it looks exciting on film.
I wish they showed some of Kings cross while they were at it, this trailer has got me back in the mood for the movies. I don't remember the part with Voldy holding Harry's face from the book though.

Didn't the chain get caught on something while Harry was underwater? Plus the water is freezing

But no, let's go ahead and show it in the trailer. That's sloppy and awful. Who cares right? They know everyone will see it anyway.

I'm suspecting that they change the location to Harry's parents house as well. Bathilda may wait for them in front of the house and lead them inside. It'd save much more time than having them going to Bathilda's house. They may also insert the Halloween's Night flashback while Harry walks through the house.
The part with Voldemort and Bella on the cliff. I think it may be from the beginning of the Hogwarts battle. I imagine that LV may cast a super epic spell to break the protection and open the way for his army to go into battle.
About the trailer: I have been spoiled so much about this trailer, yet it still blows me away.:D:D:D
EDIT: Just looking at the part when LV acquire the Elder Wand. It seems they put the white tomb on the island in the lake (the one that Harry and Lupin walked pass in POA).

Yeah, the apparent nursery is throwing me off as well. I don't mind if the scene is shifted to the Potter's house, but I really want to see the snake come out of Bathilda's neck - it has the potential to be a truly horrifying and scary scene.
decarus June 29th, 2010, 4:46 am Didn't the chain get caught on something while Harry was underwater? Plus the water is freezing
Okay. In the book Harry is choking, but then he puts on his clothes and Harry and Ron hug. They then decided that Ron should be the one to destroy the horcrux because he was the one to get the sword. They have like an entire conversation before Harry uses parseltongue to open the horcrux. That makes me think that this scene is going to be very short then.
boushh June 29th, 2010, 4:47 am I guess it's possible that he's affected by the cold and the horcrux trying to choke him earlier... or his scar is hurting again? Makes the scene more dramatic if they are both being tormented by Voldemort I guess.
About the nursery stuff... I think it would be really interesting if the Nagini attack happens in the Potter home. Theoretically we should see the full version of the night his parents were killed and it actually also makes more sense for Harry to have the flashback there too. Maybe he's caught up in the flashback and all the emotions evoked by visiting his former home and so he doesn't notice the snake in the room isn't one of the toys.
ActingDude17 June 29th, 2010, 4:51 am My guess is that it is another goblin who is not in on the plan.

I missed this screencap in your post earlier! Yes!!! That hole in the wall and the bricks everywhere (plus the toys) must connect it to the Potter house.
The only other explanation for it is that Hermione saves Harry by blowing a hole in the wall, but it could still be the Potter house.

had all the dialogue. The suspense of the scene was just thrown hodge-podge into a trailer. Sure it may be extended a bit but the meat of the scene was shown.
But overall a good trailer that looks awesome. Every scene looks epic and the action looks pulsating

questionable. That's my gripe with the book actually. I felt that the forbidden forest scene was so tense and well written that it made a better climax than the rushed explanation and fight that we eneded up with. Hopefully the movie can somehow cut some dialogue from the final confrontation and make it more climactic.
Jack5555 June 29th, 2010, 5:08 am Are we sure of that? The hair is off. Isn't Travers hair a dark color.
Remember, they don't always follow the book descriptions. Harry's eyes, for example.
ActingDude17 June 29th, 2010, 5:08 am Are we sure of that? The hair is off. Isn't Travers hair a dark color.
I'm not sure. Regardless, that's only book canon.
I have a guess for the brief Ollivander clip we keep getting. Does anyone else agree that it might be his response to Harry saying something like, "Mr. Ollivander...Mr. Ollivander?" in the cellar under Malfoy Manor? It seems like the way John Hurt would have Ollivander respond.
q7x23 June 29th, 2010, 5:08 am Do you guys think these screencaps of Ollivander are from the Malfoy Manor cellar scene?

Most likely, yes. It's the only dark place he could be; Shell Cottage looks pretty well lit, from what we've seen.
This has to be the Potter house. Bathilda Bagshot wouldn't have toys in her house, especially not for a baby. I never saw that interview about the big window, either.

A climax is the turning point of the story, not what's most engaging to you.
By the way, the goblin's name I mentioned isn't Travers (he's a Death Eater); it's Bogrod.
decarus June 29th, 2010, 5:12 am Remember, they don't always follow the book descriptions. Harry's eyes, for example.
I am not talking about book cannon here. Travers is a character in the films.

Unless there is two Travers. It wouldn't be the first character they have switched actors for.

climax isn't the truning point anyway, it's the high point.

ActingDude17 June 29th, 2010, 5:15 am Should have been less of the "who done it" explanation in the climax of an entire series.
climax isn't the truning point anyway, it's the high point.
I found the events leading to the final confrontation's outcome to be very complex and fascinating. Harry's taunting of Voldemort was priceless. An epic duel would have been entertainment, and that's not what an ending of the Harry Potter series deserves. An ending deserves to have a clever plot around it, and the Elder Wand's mastership was a truly brilliant one.
Clearly this debate shouldn't even be held as you do not know what the proper definitions of the basic elements of plot are. I see you overall enjoyed the trailer and that's what matters. Come July 2011 we'll see how this all turns out.
Jigga June 29th, 2010, 5:19 am Here's a quick question. Who on earth was on the train tracks?
SnakeSinister June 29th, 2010, 5:19 am They DID show a lot in this. I mean they covered the whole book! I however after being slightly dissapointed with the last two films liked this element. I was thrilled to see it all becuz I am so tired of the waiting we had for HBP then the splitting in two of the DH so this trailer is sort of a way of the movie makers saying "Here, have a little extra to wet your appetite".

I gotta wonder though how they will split it. I am a bit worried they will do some really cheesy ending, like with Ron coming back after destroying thr horcrux and the trio are like "Let's continue together". credits roll.

9th_Wonder June 29th, 2010, 5:23 am Here's a quick question. Who on earth was on the train tracks?
Some random death eater (unless someone can prove me otherwise). There are rumors that they're going to show Luna being kidnapped while she's on the Hogwarts Express.
ActingDude17 June 29th, 2010, 5:23 am Here's a quick question. Who on earth was on the train tracks?
Jon Campling, who was cast as a Death Eater, no specific name given.

You won't have to worry about that particular ending. :) The split is going to occur somewhere around Malfoy Manor - whether it is before, after, or during remains the question.
I'm starting to prefer decarus' idea of ending just as Voldemort steals the Elder Wand from Dumbledore's tomb and casts that big spell. Provided we see Dobby's burial before that, of course.
Bella_Crucio_U June 29th, 2010, 5:29 am I gotta wonder though how they will split it. I am a bit worried they will do some really cheesy ending, like with Ron coming back after destroying thr horcrux and the trio are like "Let's continue together". credits roll.
I actually don't want to know where the movie will split. I want to keep it a surprise for myself. I think that if it's revealed I will try my best not to get spoiled.
Jigga June 29th, 2010, 5:31 am I would cut right before Malfoy manor. I think that would be a cracking start to the 2nd movie. Cutting after Voldemort steals the wand would be too late and leave a lot on the plate for movie #1.
Jack5555 June 29th, 2010, 5:31 am Jon Campling, who was cast as a Death Eater, no specific name given.
That kind of bugs me they have shown him twice now and he is just a random DE.
I will try to find the link to the window interview, hold on.
iamwood June 29th, 2010, 5:36 am Okay...so I'm finally caught up. I'm feeling so many mixed emotions right now. Excitement, disappointment, understimulation, anticipation, to name a few.
Although my current hopes for the final confrontation being the scene I expected are kinda low, I'm pretty optimistic for the rest of the film :D
Scott, those screencaps look great...though here on my work computer, I can only view a few, I'm excited to go home and see the rest.
A side note...Does anyone think Gregorovitch looks strikingly similar to Igor Karkaroff and possibly Viktor Krum? If so, and my eyes aren't deceiving me, I'd say the casting dept. really nailed casting an Eastern European looking actor for the part :tu:
I think the absolute greatest faction of the trailer, to me, is the cinematography. Serra is simply nailing it thus far. Still not sure how I feel about the return of some of those awful blue filters for the Forest Again scene, however, I think that kind of atmosphere is necessary for that particular scene.
HPFanNewbie June 29th, 2010, 5:37 am I thought Gregorovitch actually looked slightly like Olivander, they made their hair similar, apparently that is the hairstyle of a wandmaker. =)
SiriusBlack101 June 29th, 2010, 5:42 am I would cut right before Malfoy manor. I think that would be a cracking start to the 2nd movie. Cutting after Voldemort steals the wand would be too late and leave a lot on the plate for movie #1.
In the end, I think Dobby's burial will be the split point because it provides a resolution. However, if they did end with Voldemort stealing the wand, it could be added immediately after the burial (ie, no talks with Ollivander and Griphook), it wouldn't add much runtime at all to the film.
Of course, as a fan of the books, the split doesn't matter all that much to me since I know what will happen! For the average movie-goer, however, I want to see a resolution and not a cliffhanger.

That very well could happen.
I hope they end after Malfoy manor with Dobby's death and Hermione being tortured, it's more dramatic. It will get everything revved up for the final act.
HPFanNewbie June 29th, 2010, 5:50 am A few things,
What is the scene we see of just Ron but there seems to be a large crowd? Is that when they went to infiltrate the MOM?
I LOVE all the people pouring over the hillside form Hogsmead, exactly as I imiagined it in the book!!!!!!
I guess Ginny isn't helping them in the RoR Fiend fire scene, maybe she describes where the diadem is???
The nursery, seems way too bright and cheerful if it is indeed the Potter home (whihc I am pretty sure it is) for a building that has been in ruins for so lolng, BUT the scene looks so awesome and totally creeeeeeeeeeeepy!!!!
The look on Dan's face as Voldemort is preparing to kill him in the forest! EEEk! And it was perfect how he closes his eyes, exactly as I pictured when he thought of Ginny before the killing curse hit him.
I am so excited, but also still can't get over the things they showed!!!
Oh, and Harry could be looking like he is in pain when telling Ron to kill the locket Horcrux because remember the locket burned white hot and made Harry release it in the book!
I love love love how Ron is down on the ground looking up in horror, I can imagine the Horcrux Harry and Hermione towering over him! OMG it will be awesome!!!

It is the MoM. Ron's Polyjuice has worn off and the guy behind him is chasing him.

Edit: q7x23 beat me to it
franckolat June 29th, 2010, 5:57 am I just thought about something...
The trailer looks good, so if DH ends up being captivating and far better than the rest of the series, maybe non-fans will come to watch it. And 3D is SO profitable. Also, fans will want to watch it both in 2D and in 3D to see the difference. DH will inevitably perform marvelously well at the box-office.
Each part could gross way more than the usual 900M$. 3D represents about 25% higher ticket prices. And it's the amazing big finale so I estimate at least 25% more people will go see it.
So if we calculate roughly, each part could gross as much as 1,5G$!
Now, if we put the two parts together, we get THREE BILLION DOLLARS. :)
WATCH OUT, AVATAR.
(I hope this re-release won't be too successful.)
MistressofRaven June 29th, 2010, 5:59 am I just looked again at the clip where Draco is climbing in the RoR. I know that the guy who plays Crabbe is gone. the guy right behind him looks like Blaise Zabini so I'm guessing he's taking Crabbe's place (minus the dying).
ActingDude17 June 29th, 2010, 6:08 am Do you think Goyle will die instead of Crabbe then? This is to say:
Film Goyle = Book Crabbe
Film Blaise = Book Goyle
MistressofRaven June 29th, 2010, 6:11 am Do you think Goyle will die instead of Crabbe then? This is to say:

That's what I think. It makes the most sense to be Goyle who dies because that's who we're most familiar with. Blaise was only introduced in HBP whereas Crabbe and Goyle have been there since the beginning.
Thinking of those three, I love the expression on Tom Felton's face as he's climbing. He looks so desperate and determined.
BubbleSnake June 29th, 2010, 6:13 am About the nursery stuff...
I agree, Having it in Harry's old bedroom would be a much more interesting and emotional experience in the events leading up to the attack. They probably have a part or where Harry looks around. I mean is there any benefit of having it at Bathildas? (besides the fact that Bathilda's house is book canon?) So far sounds to me that could be one of those changes that the movie actually does better than the books. Yes I know Godric's Hollow gets partly destroyed still doesn't have to be like that in the movie.

I agree! I didn't catch that shot of Tom until my second viewing but once I saw it I was deeply moved. I've never been a Draco fan at all and often wish he would have been a victim of the Fiendfyre, but Tom's acting in this short glimpse of the scene makes me really feel for this poor, well...child, really! During the battle his parents are looking for their son. He's still a baby, really.
ThaiHPFan June 29th, 2010, 6:22 am Do you think Goyle will die instead of Crabbe then? This is to say:

Now that you mention that I think I remember too. Didn't he reveal this around the time he described the current split plan?

I actually like this idea more than Bathilda's house too, it would be more emotional, and I kind of hope this is what they've done.
9th_Wonder June 29th, 2010, 6:28 am We know that Blaise is taking Crabbe's place but i don't think it has been confirmed who dies yet.
Looks like we'll be needing version 5 of this thread very soon
Lil_G135 June 29th, 2010, 6:52 am I really enjoyed the trailer. I watched the teasers from the movies before and it definitely fits perfectly. Lots of stuff from Part 2, but maybe they're counting on people forgetting 'til next winter (that's when a teaser for Part 2 solely would come out, maybe?) I loooove the entire first scene and Harry's "Because I have something to live for" the best ^ ^.
What is Hermione doing at about 1 minute 1 second in though?
I was there at the live ustream mugglecast discussion and listening back to it now -- I really want to give a certain actor (:cough:Bonnie:cough: ) props for stepping up and deciding Harry and Ginny need a kiss a midst the battle. No wonder it looks so good - it's real!
ThaiHPFan June 29th, 2010, 6:57 am The part with hundreds of people running over the hills. Are those people the Hogsmeade villagers or Voldemort's army? They are wearing multicolor clothes so I don't think they're the DEs, but maybe the imperiused ministry people?
If they're the villagers then that would be an epic scene, although the sky doesn't look like morning to me
katana June 29th, 2010, 6:58 am What is Hermione doing at about 1 minute 1 second in though?
I think that's when she's going to modify her parents memories and send them to Australia.
ActingDude17 June 29th, 2010, 6:59 am What is Hermione doing at about 1 minute 1 second in though?
She is leaving her house after modifying her parents' memories. That, or as katana suggested, heading there. The reason I go with after is because she is walking rather downtrodden. In addition to this, it appears she is carrying the beaded bag. What does she need it for on the way there? She has it out as she leaves because her mind is shifting to the Horcrux hunt.
ArryGrotter June 29th, 2010, 7:06 am Well, I just skimmed through the 15 or so pages that have popped up in the past few hours
There are a lot of scenes I missed on my first two watches, but I'm downloading it in HD now, so I can't wait to see it again :D
weasley9 June 29th, 2010, 7:08 am Listening to Mugglecast. They don't like the idea of the snake scene being at the Potter's house. I actually do like the idea.
ActingDude17 June 29th, 2010, 7:20 am Melissa's theory that the Hermione pushing Ron back shot is after Fred's death was initially very well received by me. However, upon further examination of the clip, I am not so sure this is the case.
http://media.the-leaky-cauldron.org/gallery/films/DH/PreviewsPromosTrailer/dhtrailer/normal_movies_dh_promos_dhtrailer_29.jpg
Ron appears to be casting a spell. If Fred has just died, what or who is he casting it at? A Death Eater? If so, why is Hermione pushing him away from the scene as opposed to discouraging him? Why would she even discourage him? This is a war battle and they have been fighting constantly. If Fred has died, they would not be leaving the area. They would be waiting until all is clear to recover his body as the Weasley brothers do in the book. It's not a matter of page-to-screen translation, it's simply how these characters act.

The sky is already morning so I don't think it's Fred's death. Also, she could just be pushing him out of the way of someone's spell. It may end up being a 2-second long sequence in the film.

Do you think then this may be taking place around the final battle? The rubble to their right slightly resembles what we see the courtyard. Ron saved Harry's life, and now it looks like he's going to lose it (to Ron at least, he's dueling Lord Voldemort). Hermione knows that this is the end and is trying to get him out of the area because all hades is about to break loose. I'm probably way off the mark. This looks more like a quick battle shot. If Hermione was seeing Harry and Voldemort going at it her facial expression would be much different. And is it really characteristic of Ron (or anyone, for that matter) to intervene? It's just a guess.
I love the detail in that clip. If you look in the top right corner, in the distance you can see what looks like fire or smoke in the air. This is a warzone.
BubbleSnake June 29th, 2010, 7:49 am http://img807.imageshack.us/img807/1783/goyle.jpg
Anyone besides me think this is Goyle with a new haircut maybe? It looks like him quite a bit. I know hes bad guy and does the fiendfyre, but Voldemort probably wouldn't rank him as a official Death Eater tho would he? Or was he in the book at that time? Or maybe It's a film change. O.o Anyways if that's him he looks pretty cool.
me_potter_fan June 29th, 2010, 7:53 am im almost certain that thats goyle it looks just like him.
ActingDude17 June 29th, 2010, 8:03 am Looping the clip itself, BubbleSnake, it does not appear to be him. Joshua's facial structure is a bit different.
Interesting tidbit: I did a reread of the early books once and discovered Jamie Waylett (Crabbe) matches book Goyle's appearance better and Joshua Herdman (Goyle) matches book Crabbe's appearance better. The films had caused me to never notice this before. I was so used to seeing the actors in their actual roles.
I'll add that I've heard some people say they think that Death Eater footage is from when Hogwarts' protection is broken. Look at Bellatrix's face though. You can't see them in the still above, but in the actual trailer look at the Death Eaters on our right. They're looking in completely different directions. I think this is before a skirmish between the Hogwarts forces and Voldemort's. It looks like the crowd of Death Eaters is looking at yet another crowd in front of them.
Sacred_Memories June 29th, 2010, 8:12 am Wasn't Bathilda cast for this film? If so, why is Nagini in the Potter house?
KJRiddle June 29th, 2010, 8:19 am I don't know if anyone had noticed, but did you find Dumbledore's tomb?

I wonder whether they'll show us something of the Funeral ...

Yes she was. We're assuming that's the Potter house.
ActingDude17 June 29th, 2010, 8:24 am Yes she was. We're assuming that's the Potter house.
Judging by how much they change the sets this may not mean much, but the room in which Harry is attacked by the snake does not match the nursery from SS. Wouldn't it be creepy if Bathilda had a nursery in her house for whatever reason?
lcbaseball22 June 29th, 2010, 8:26 am Sorry guys, I got distracted with something else. Here's the 4th set and it's the last I'll be posting tonight. I'll post the rest tomorrow :)

P.S. Just an observation...that part with Filch is quite disturbing. It looks like he just walks away and leaves those kids to die during the battle...he doesn't even give them a chance to fight for their lives, they are trapped in the cage and it looks like an explosion goes off :scared:
Oh, and Death Eaters on BROOMS! Ha YES, although I wonder if anyone in the audience is going to wonder why they don't just fly through the air with smoke trails like they have in the past
MoodysMagicEye June 29th, 2010, 8:29 am Wasn't Bathilda cast for this film? If so, why is Nagini in the Potter house? I don't think it is in the Potter's House, the room doesn't look as if it hadn't been entered for 16 years (unless its been very well magically reserved). Anyway the Potters house was half blown apart in the book and I imagine it will be so in the film as well. I it would be quite believeable that Bathilda had grand kids or had rooms prepared for kids of relative who stayed at her house for example.

You're right, that would be creepy. That may be Bathilda's house after all. We'll just have to wait and see.
Thanks again for the screencaps lcbaseball! I gave you credit for the ones I used in the first post of the DH list.

Agreed. You also have to keep in mind Bathilda is the author of one of the most informative books in the wizarding world. She is probably a very recognized figure who many people looked up to (at least at one point). Adults were probably eager to have kids stay with family friend Bathilda Bagshot. The kids could ask her about Hogwarts...Okay, this is just sick when keeping in mind the Bathilda we know.
However, someone still has to explain the perfectly formed hole in the wall behind the Harry/snake skirmish.

Maybe Voldemort prepared a nursury so that he can make it just like the 1st time he tried to kill him.
ActingDude17 June 29th, 2010, 8:40 am Maybe Voldemort prepared a nursury so that he can make it just like the 1st time he tried to kill him.
This would be chilling.
"No Mudblood mother to save you this time, Harry Potter."
KJRiddle June 29th, 2010, 8:40 am You guys, it's obvious:
Bathilda and the Potters were neighboors, and we know that the Potters now live(d) in a row of houses, so their houses 'connect'. Nagini attacks Harry in Bathilda's house, and Hermione/Harry fires an explosion spell, that misses, and blows apart the entire wall. The fight continues on the other side of the wall, which is revealed to be Harry's baby room.

I hope you're right, that would be neat!
ActingDude17 June 29th, 2010, 8:47 am I like KJ's theory. Look at the drawers on the left in the room. Other things in the room look untouched. Could this be because Harry and the snake have just entered this space? Also, if you look into the gap in the wall, it looks like an entirely different environment on the other side.
KJRiddle June 29th, 2010, 8:50 am It would be a real good 'switch' to the actual Halloween flashback, if the last thing he sees is his old baby room with all the toys and stuff. That would definetely trigger some kind of memory ;)
KJRiddle June 29th, 2010, 9:02 am Thanks :D
It does make sense, doesn't it?
BTW, the final chapter of the DH List won't be updated until tomorrow. Quite busy at the moment.
