Which scenes in the DH movie are your favourite?lord_dies_a_lot November 21st, 2010, 8:27 am i thought it was a great scene between two friends who are just trying to cheer each other up...emma watsons reaction at the end was great Hes November 21st, 2010, 9:55 am Talk about your favourite scenes of DH part one. Indepth discussion of the whole movie should be done in the Open Discussion thread :) bellatrix93 November 21st, 2010, 10:48 am There are lots of them. Hermione modifying her parents' memories, it's so touching. The preparation for the Seven Potters, so funny. Also unexpectedly, I liked the Harry/Hermione dance. I thought the idea was silly, but I admit it turned out to be really cute. I loved the scene where Bathilda turned to Nagini, it was so well-done, eerie and scary. I should probably stop here, or I'll end up mentioning the whole movie, RandyBoyz92 November 21st, 2010, 11:32 am The battle of the seven potters, the silver doe and the tale of the three brothers were my favorite scenes. adorey1 November 21st, 2010, 12:22 pm blimey, there are loads i can think of! 2 of my favourites though has to be when ron gets splinched and hermione gets tortured. emma'sacting was amazing in both and certaintly put an end to those people who complain that emma's rubbish when it comes to crying on-screen. alwaysme November 21st, 2010, 1:36 pm For me the Charity Burbage scene was the most chilling. I loved the tale of the three brothers, The silver doe and Malfoy Manor. :) Morning_Star November 21st, 2010, 2:18 pm I really liked the scene where Hermione obliviated her parents. That made me so sad, as did the Malfoy Manor scene in the beginning of the film, with Charity, Snape and the Malfoys. And I really loved The Tale of the Tree Brothers, that was fun to watch and a great way of including the fairytale. I think I liked Dobby's death, but I'm not sure, I was so upset and sad. Half the movie-goers (including me) were crying their eyes out. Clockworthy November 21st, 2010, 2:44 pm The H/Hr dance scene. I really liked the song (What is it?) The Tale Of The Three Brothers - It was very well done, and gives me hope if someone were to adapt 'Beedle The Bard'. In the graveyard - I'm happy that it wasn't muddled! It was my favorite in the book! Dobby's Death, mainly because Shell Cottage was in such a pretty area. Wimsey November 21st, 2010, 2:48 pm Hmm, this is kind of tough: I have a lot of complaints about this film, but almost none about the scenes! Here's a first cut: Horcurx destruction: the intensity surpassed that that the word invoked (which is saying a lot in this case!); the immediate followup was very good, too: I'm no "shipper" but the Ron-Hermione exchange was actually sweet; Malfoy Manor: a great combination of "save the damsel in distress" with almost Star Wars level "shoot 'em up"; The Dance: who hasn't been in Harry's shoes (trying to cheer up the dumped friend) or Hermione's shoes (trying to be cheered by a platonic friend) or in both? Ron heading off Harry: this actually encapsulated Rowling's story of Hard vs. Wrong choices concerning the Greater Good, and a great example of what adaptations should do; Godric's Hollow: a great combination of poignancy, furthering the mystery, and an excellent dramatic action sequence; The Tale of the 3 Brothers: brilliantly done in all ways, from the very idea of how to do it to the execution; The 7 Potters: humor, dazzling (if confusing) action, and Hedwig gets a much improved death. Fury November 21st, 2010, 3:05 pm The H/Hr dance scene. I really liked the song (What is it?) O Children By Nick Cave MsBinns November 21st, 2010, 3:32 pm Ron heading off Harry: this actually encapsulated Rowling's story of Hard vs. Wrong choices concerning the Greater Good, and a great example of what adaptations should do;[/list] Perhaps I'm being a bit of a dunderhead, but what do you mean "heading off"? When Ron leaves? Clockworthy November 21st, 2010, 3:49 pm O Children By Nick Cave Thank you. It was the song choice that really made it for me. Fleur du mal November 21st, 2010, 4:51 pm It's really hard to say for me. The film had at least a dozen moments that I found particularly outstanding, not only regarding this movie but the entire series. 1. The locket and its destruction. Found it much more impressive than in the book and REALLY intense to watch. The way it bursts to life once opened made me jump, and it gave a really good impression as to why these Horcruxes are so dangerous that they could even destroy great Dumbledore 2. Voldemort demanding Lucius' wand. I found Isaac's performance pretty spectacular, it is really just a little set piece, but oh wow. 3. Snape arriving in Malfoy Manor. What can I say. The last man to manage SUCH a grande entrance must have been Darth Vader. 4. Dobby and Kreacher dragging in poor Mundungus. I felt kinda sorry for the man, and the entire scene really cracked me up. Miss_Bellatrix November 21st, 2010, 5:37 pm There were several scenes I liked, but I really LOVED the scene where Harry and Hermione dance. It was so sweet ! ShireMagic November 21st, 2010, 5:38 pm - Hermione's Leaving, Harry looking in the cupboard. - Dark Lord Ascending - 7 Potters, Hedwig's Death - Hermione and Harry dance - I don't usually like random additions, but this was adorable and strengthened their sister/brother relationship - Godrics Hollow Graveyard and Bathilda - Silver Doe and Frozen Pond - Harry/Hermione horcrux kiss, so creepy, uncomfortable and wrong, just as it should be - Torture scene - so emotional! Poor Hermione with the "Mudblood" scar. I loved most of the movie to be honest! It was hard not to list every scene in the movie as my favourite! xoffender November 21st, 2010, 6:12 pm There were so many scenes that I found emotional and very well done.. However I'm still laughing at.. Engorgio... REDUCTO!! magic_is_might November 21st, 2010, 6:24 pm -The 7 Potters scene -Hermione/Harry dance scene - the song really does it for me - a touching scene between friends -Hermione/Ron on the piano -Emma's amazing performance during the torture scene at the Manor "-Engorgio - Reducio!" -Silver Doe -Godric Hollow - the graveyard -Ron comes back and Hermione hitting him with her bag  There are a few more, I'm sure - I'll add them later after my second viewing. DigificWriter November 21st, 2010, 6:36 pm I've already talked about most of my absolutely favorite scenes from the film in other threads, so here's a few that I haven't yet mentioned: * Scrimgour making his proclamation to the wizarding world about the Ministry's resolve to stand firm and steadfast as a shield against the encroaching darkness (Bill Nighy was PERFECTLY cast in the role) * The 'Seven Potters' (the best parts of the scene were Moody's commentaries and Fleur and Hermione's verbal reactions to being transformed into Harry) * Ginny snogging Harry in the Burrow's kitchen on the morning of Bill and Fleur's wedding, and George interrupting them * Scrimgour reading the trio the Last Will and Testament of Albus Dumbledore (as mentioned above, Nighy was perfectly cast as Scrimgour; the best part of the scene is the fact that you can tell by Scrimgour's facial expressions that he really wants to flat-out force Harry to tell him what he's up to, but doesn't have the authority to do so) * Dobby and Kreacher bringing Mundungus Fletcher to Grimmauld Place * Harry stupifying Umbridge and stealing the locket Horcrux * Mary Cattermole kissing Polyjuiced Reginald Cattermole!Ron just as the real Reginald Cattermole turns up at the Ministry * Xeno Lovegood trying to stop the trio from leaving his house and saying Voldemort's name (brilliantly acted by Rhys Ifans; I really liked the fact that Ifans played the character with a Celtic/Irish accent, because it completely matches/fits Evanna Lynch's portrayal of Luna, and really makes you buy into the idea that the two characters are father and daughter) shresht November 21st, 2010, 6:42 pm Ron saying: "Twilight's good" The Harry/Hermione dance, and the Horcrux!Harry/Horcrux!Hermione kiss. Loads more magic_is_might November 21st, 2010, 6:45 pm Ron saying: "Twilight's good" The Harry/Hermione dance, and the Horcrux!Harry/Horcrux!Hermione kiss. Loads more Oh yeah - I forgot about the Twilight reference  messrsmoony November 21st, 2010, 6:57 pm Oh yeah - I forgot about the Twilight reference  That wasn't an intentional Twilight reference. It was in the book. magic_is_might November 21st, 2010, 7:01 pm That wasn't an intentional Twilight reference. It was in the book. No, I know it was in the book ;) But the way they said it in the movie, made it seem very much like a Twilight reference as they Ron says, almost jokingly, that Twilight it better. And I thought I read somewhere that this was intentional. faithy November 21st, 2010, 7:20 pm wow... I think that I'm still recovering from the epicness of that movie and how canon it was! I gasped every time a word for word book line was in it - so I think that I REALLY annoyed the people around me. There were so many stand out moments: The Silver Doe, Destruction of the locket (for some reason my brother enjoyed that scene... say no more) The Hr/H dance - I didn't think that I'd like it but it was so sweet and the song was perfect, it now lives on my ipod :D. The seven Potters, Hermione obliterating her parents memories, Harry looking into the cupboard - that had me tearing up, The ministry loved it when Harry said 'I must not tell lies to Dolores'!!, Godric's Hollow, Malfoy Mannor and Dobby's death (The entire movie basically:D)!!!!! I really can't wait to see it again... I didn't cry at Dobby's death mainly because I was so excited at seeing Shell cottage... so I hope that on a re-watch I will concentrate more on Dobby as oppsoed to "I was standing right by there OMG!!!" - did anyone see the ITV behind the magic thing earlier? loved the fact that they put up an Eqqus poster in the cafe, will be looking out for it :p - messrsmoony November 21st, 2010, 7:28 pm No, I know it was in the book ;) But the way they said it in the movie, made it seem very much like a Twilight reference as they Ron says, almost jokingly, that Twilight it better. And I thought I read somewhere that this was intentional. But he says that in the books too. magic_is_might November 21st, 2010, 7:29 pm But he says that in the books too. I know - I just thought they used that as a nod to Twilight. I'm wrong, but I thought it was funny ;) Morning_Star November 21st, 2010, 7:37 pm I've already talked about most of my absolutely favorite scenes from the film in other threads, so here's a few that I haven't yet mentioned: * Scrimgour making his proclamation to the wizarding world about the Ministry's resolve to stand firm and steadfast as a shield against the encroaching darkness (Bill Nighy was PERFECTLY cast in the role) * Scrimgour reading the trio the Last Will and Testament of Albus Dumbledore (as mentioned above, Nighy was perfectly cast as Scrimgour; the best part of the scene is the fact that you can tell by Scrimgour's facial expressions that he really wants to flat-out force Harry to tell him what he's up to, but doesn't have the authority to do so) I forgot to mention Bill Nighy! :wow: I really loved his performance in this film, I agree that he was perfect for the role. (I love his voice and way of speaking, I rewatched the trailer where he talks a lot several times just because of his speech.) I just wish he'd been presented earlier - it seemed so abrupt, a new Minister right out of the blue, and then suddenly he's dead. But, I really liked his scenes, and the part with Dumbledore's will was almost exactly like what I had in mind when I read the book. :tu: OrderoftheLuna November 21st, 2010, 7:37 pm I'm pretty sure Ron says that his mom always says "Midnight" and not Twilight.....right? Fhaps November 21st, 2010, 7:47 pm My three favorites: - Opening scene: It's so well done. From Rufus speech to Hermione obliviating his parents. The music is so beatiful. Incredible that I was already crying within the firsts three minutos of the movie. - Dance scene: I love it. I simply love it. Everything. And Harry's dancing cracked me up lol - Harry/Ron fight: I love the entire scene. From Hermione cutting off Harry's hair to Hermione screaming for Ron. I loved that little detail of Hermione cutting off Harry's hair, was unexpected and they looked cute; it showed the brother/sister relationship. messrsmoony November 21st, 2010, 7:47 pm I'm pretty sure Ron says that his mom always says "Midnight" and not Twilight.....right? Yep, Ron interrupts her and says "Midnight. Mum always said Midnight." And then Hermione gives him one of her looks, before he says "But Twilight's better." It was something like that. I know - I just thought they used that as a nod to Twilight. I'm wrong, but I thought it was funny ;) Yeah, that would've been funny. I'm really sorry. I don't tend to speak up a lot on these boards but when I do, I always seem to be disagreeing with you. Sorry! Dhors November 21st, 2010, 8:55 pm Scenes which stood out for me: Hermione oblivating her existence to her parents. Godrics Hollow graveyard. Bellatrix torturing hermione. HHr Dance scene. Snapes badass entrance to the manor. harryprincess November 21st, 2010, 9:00 pm basically the whole film was amazing;) fourthgirl2013 November 21st, 2010, 9:07 pm basically the whole film was amazing;) I'd agree with that. I really enjoyed the way that the tale of the Three Brothers was presented, the shadow puppets were a cool way to present a folk story. I also thought the dancing scene was a little corny, but better than what I had expected. My friends and I found the fact that Emma appeared to be taller Dan rather amusing throughout the film. Slartibartfast November 21st, 2010, 9:15 pm My favorite scenes were the Ministry infiltration and the Silver Doe. The Ministry scenes were so good, i felt like the book came to life! I was giddy with glee! Im all "OMG!" Everything here was so good! Even Umbridge! "Albert, arent you getting out?" Little things like that put a smile on my face. The small change in the courtroom was excellent. Probably my favorite change in the whole movie. The Silver Doe scenes were even better. Page meets life. OMG! I loved how the Doe looked! Right down to Harry saying "Accio Sword!" The horcrux choking him and him beating on the ice was just so harrowing! Even though i knew what was coming, i was like "Is he gonna make it?!" Ron diving in..all of it was brilliant. The horcrux coming out and tormenting Ron. Even my boyfriend was all "ohh man..thats low!" The creepy effects on Harry and Hermione were excellent. Pure perfection! sticky November 21st, 2010, 9:41 pm Godrics Hollow. I jumped so bad when the Snake jumped out from the lower level, I never jump during movies and the whole scene had me on the edge of my seat! Bathilda Bagshot was so creepy too! I loved how when Hermione firstly notices her, we don't see her face just a silhouette, and as they begin to follow her you still can't see her face. And as Harry and Hermione pause to look at the destroyed building, the camera cuts suddenly to a side shot where she's stood very close and you can clearly see her face and it was just very creepy how it was done! As she transforms into the snake it was also rather creepy, it was horrifying but brilliant. Hermione going into that room with the blood just added to the whole scene, it was done very well. The Ministry scene. The three actors playing Runcorn, etc were fantastic! That scene was funny and tense at the same time! Loved every minute of it. Loved watching them figure out how to get into the Ministry with the toilets, Ruperts line :'thats bloody disgusting' had me in fits! The silver doe scene, this was pretty much perfect, almost exactly how imagined this to happen! Seeing Harry really struggling trying to break free of the ice and water was horrifying, it seemed like he was struggling for a long time I was on the edge of my seat just waiting for Ron to appear. Ron destroying the locket was great, the locket harry and hermione was terrifyingly beautiful. Harry and Hermione dance :') I didn't think that it would be good, but I enjoyed it so much! It was so sweet and a bit funny. Dan's dancing is hilarious! If I hadn't read the book though I really would have thought that they would have kissed at the end of this, they were getting very close and I was almost fooled they would. It was a very tender scene though, and was really nice to see. I could go on for a long time here, the Three Brothers animated was mind blowing, I loved it. It was so interesting to watch. lvngbooks November 21st, 2010, 10:42 pm I loved the animation on the Tale of the Three Brothers, it was so good! Also: - George walking in on Ginny and Harry with the toothbrush in his ear.. Mooooorning! - The Seven Potters (duh!) - Dobby on top of the chandelier - Dobby explaining to Bellatrix that he didn't want to kill anyone - Ron kissing with Mrs Cattermole xD - The animation of Harry and Hermione when the Locket opens was really well done too - The scene where Mundungus comes in with both Kreacher and Dobby on his legs - The scene with Nagini.. You know it's coming, but it still scares the **** out of you when it does Fleurs Dress <3 And I have to say that Rupert was amazing in his role as Ron! The scene in the tent, just before Harry and Ron start to fight.. Awesome. free_elf November 21st, 2010, 10:55 pm Without listing every scene of the movie, I'd say: - opening montage w/ Hermione's obliviate. - 7 Potters - Ron convincing Harry not to leave by himself - Hermione obliviating the Death Eater - Ministry of Magic sequence - Ron's splinching - Camping montage with radio background noise - Ron leaving - Godric's Hollow - The Horcrux Destruction & Ron's return - Torture scene LupinsHowl786 November 21st, 2010, 11:05 pm My favorite scenes are: The Dark Lord Ascending (Mafloy Manor) The Obliviation of Hermione's Parents Godric's Hollow & Bathilda Bagshot Ministry of Magic Sue_Lestrange November 22nd, 2010, 1:16 am The scene in the graveyard. It was so perfect and sad, it made me cry. Also, when Ron leaves, because that has been the first time, to me, that Rupert Grint became Ron. He did an amazing job Snapesandarrows November 22nd, 2010, 1:45 am If I had to pick one favorite right now, it might be the intro with Hermione. Unexpected, and brilliant. Fury November 22nd, 2010, 1:56 am 1. Whole of Locket Destruction 2. Harry and Hermione's dance 3. Whole of ministry, especially the Decoy Detonators and Umbridge's office 4. Dobby's Death 5. Ron's return (Hermione: "Give me my wand, Harry!") Honorable mentions (could go in top 5) Tale of the Three Brothers, Ron and Harry fight, Ron and Hermione on the piano, Ron and Hermione's hug when Ron returns from the Sky battle, Hermione's torture and the opening sequence. LOL, I know that is a lot, but those are all interchangeable. deadly_artemis November 22nd, 2010, 2:17 am Here are my top scenes. I'll have to watch it a second time though just to take it all in: 1. The whole silver doe/locket destruction sequence: Wow. Just Wow. So exciting to see this. It made the whole audience tense and know that Harry might be in danger. Everything was perfect! I loved especially how Ron saves Harry but you don't know at first who it is. And even though the kiss was uncomfortable to watch, it was completely necessary because that's what Ron's worst fear would be. 2. The MInistry of Magic: defintely the funniest and most lighthearted part of the movie for me. The actors were so perfect and hilarious in the way they copied the trio. And I thought it was so sweet how Ron worried about Mrs. Cattermole just because she was his "wife." It seems like he's gonna be a great husband someday <3 3. Ron's speech when he returns. The music felt so romantic, and the way he was looking at Hermione was adorable. 4. The Three Brother's animation: I just wanna see this short again and again! 5. Harry and Hermione dance: I thought I would hate it because I'm a R/Hr shipper, but it was so funny and cute, and I couldn't stop smiling the whole time. It didn't look to me like they would kiss at all. She just looked so sad before and after. I also asked my mom (who hasn't read the books) and have only seen parts of the movies if she thought it was romantic at all, and she was like, "No! He was just trying to cheer her up. You can tell they love each other as close friends" And when she talked about the characters after we left the movie, she kept referring to Ron as "Hermione's boyfriend" Other small parts that I liked was Hermione and Ron holding hands while sleeping (and how the camera focused on that), the wedding (wish it was longer!), and Godrick's Hollow at the grave was very sweet and the Bathilda stuff was so scary! Also, the chase seen was very tense and you could sense the desperation the trio had. Emma especially did an awesome job with this. Scenes I thought could use more: 1. Malfoy Manor. Completely lost the horror that was in the book. There were too many jokes and humorous moments when Hermione was tortured, and Ron should have been screaming! I can kinda see why they didn't include Ron going crazy just because they had to put the Luna/Dobby/Wormtail/goblin stuff all in there. It seemed rushed and I would have liked to cut back on the humor and more on Hermione's torture and Ron's reaction. I remember this was one of the most "romantic" parts of the book for me. I did like how he held her afterwards though. 2. Some of the camping scenes, especially when it's just Harry and Hermione, seemed very slow. I think this was the feel of the book too, so at least it's canon. 3. The reading of the will seemed a little lackluster too. 4. Visiting with Mr. Lovegood seemed slow (except the three brother's story, which I loved!), and the whole time I was thinking, "call the deatheater's already! this is getting boring!" featherfish81 November 22nd, 2010, 2:26 am I'm echoing what others have said, but here are my favorites: Hermione's obliviate Destroying the horcrux, though it would have been better with the Ron/Harry conversation after The Three Brothers was excellently animated magic_is_might November 22nd, 2010, 3:09 am I'm in the minority on this but I loved the Harry and Hermione dance scene. Not because I'm a H/Hr shipper because I didn't find this romantic in anyway, but because it was so cute and fun to watch. I couldn't help but smile. And it left me sad at Hermione's devastated expression afterward and walking off :( I also loved the Ministry scene :tu: Chouette November 22nd, 2010, 4:23 am I absolutely loved the Tale of the Three Brothers animation, although I was disappointed that Ron wimped out on actually arguing with Hermione that "I just think midnight's scarier." The animation was stunning, and I thought it struck a great balance between beauty and creepiness. The part where the second brother hung himself was so poignant: I wasn't expecting to see Death fishing him out but somehow it seemed like the most natural next step. The only part I wasn't thrilled with was the third brother's leaving the world; his giving the cloak to his son was fine but I'm not sure I loved the way Death carried him off. I'd love to see the whole collection of Beetle the Bard tales animated in similar style, with JKR reading them. Don't think I'd ever tire of watching that! Wimsey November 22nd, 2010, 4:24 am Perhaps I'm being a bit of a dunderhead, but what do you mean "heading off"? When Ron leaves? No, when Harry is trying to slip away from the Burrow. That was a nice case of adaptation: they showed something that is simply discussed in the book. (The film would have done well to do that elsewhere, as too much exposition was a big flaw.) SiriusBlack101 November 22nd, 2010, 5:17 am I'm in the minority on this but I loved the Harry and Hermione dance scene. Not because I'm a H/Hr shipper because I didn't find this romantic in anyway, but because it was so cute and fun to watch. I couldn't help but smile. And it left me sad at Hermione's devastated expression afterward and walking off :( What's interesting is I don't know if this a minority opinion anymore. I said the same thing in my review of the film, but the reaction I've gauged from fans on this forum has been mainly positive in regards to that scene. Certainly more positive than negative reactions anyways. I'm surprised that two of my favorite scenes in the film were not actually in the book - Hermione obliviating her parent's memories and the Harry/Hermione dance. I give a lot of credit to Steve Kloves for writing these two scenes into the script. :tu: magic_is_might November 22nd, 2010, 5:23 am What's interesting is I don't know if this a minority opinion anymore. I give a lot of credit to Steve Kloves for writing these two scenes into the script. :tu: Well, that's nice to see then  I've seen plenty of positive reviews for this scene on here, but much more negatives from other sites and from people I've talked to :( Mainly from people who hate non-canon stuff or devout Hermione/Ron shippers who feel that their ship is threatened. And it's fine to not like this scene - but the negative opinions I've heard and read about on this is that this has been seen as romantic and totally "derailing the canon Hermione and Ron ship" as I read somewhere. And the problems I have with this is that I don't see this as romantic at all - and this is coming from a long time Harry/Hermione shipper. And I agree - the obliviation and dancing scene are definitely among my favorite scenes from DH :agree: And I know Kloves gets a lot of flak for these type of scenes - but I'm glad they kept these scenes in. They added a lot to their friendship and character development. DigificWriter November 22nd, 2010, 5:48 am Wimsey, I was wondering why you thought the film had too much exposition in it, because it really didn't; the only real 'exposition scene' in the film is the 'Tale of Three Brothers', and even that doesn't actually feel like a true 'exposition scene' because of the way it was visualized. Steve Kloves has tried to cut down on the amount of exposition that he puts into his script adaptations - without losing the essence of JKR's plots - of the HP novels ever since PoA, and Yates - like Alfonso Cuaron before him - has capitalized on that in terms of how he's shot/visualized the Kloves scripts (HBP and the first part of DH) that he's adapted thus far. Yoana November 22nd, 2010, 9:25 am My favourite ones were Snape witnessing Charity Burbage's murder (my hair stood on edge!), the tale of the three brothers sequence, Ron leaving, Hermione and Harry dancing, Bathilda Bagshot's house (seriously scary!!). Fleur du mal November 22nd, 2010, 9:33 am I have to say I agree with Wimsey. The movie did have a lot of exposition, I noticed it all the more sorely because it stuck out so clumsily. The way Bill's injury was introduced, Tonks pointing at Lupin saying "my husband!!!" - the first ten minutes of the film (until the Trio left the wedding basically) were literally cluttered with lines that didn't really go with the flow of the scenes but were put in to give mere information. Hysteria November 22nd, 2010, 12:42 pm I really liked The Seven Potters but it would have been nice to see more of the battle. Overall that was really well done though, especially when Voldemort and Harry's wands connected. The ending was also great. There was only one minor change I would have made (mentioned in the review thread) but otherwise I thought it was suspenseful without being annoying, and a dramatic ending. The Ministry scene was fantastic too, the actors playing the trio under Polyjuice potion were exceptional. Bella torturing Hermione was uncomfortable to watch and I'm so glad they did it that way, because the scene in the book gives me shivers. DigificWriter November 22nd, 2010, 12:51 pm Here's an official definition for the word 'exposition': Exposition is one of four rhetorical modes of discourse, along with argumentation, description, and narration. It is also used for speeches. The purpose of exposition is to provide some background and inform the readers about the plot, character, setting, and theme of the essay/story or motion picture. Exposition as a fiction-writing mode Within the context of fiction, exposition is the fiction-writing mode for conveying information. According to Robert Kernen, "Exposition can be one of the most effective ways of creating and increasing the drama in your story. It can also be the quickest way to kill a plot's momentum and get your story bogged down in detail. Too much exposition, or too much at one time, can seriously derail a story and be frustrating to the reader or viewer eager for a story to either get moving or move on." (Kernen 1999, p. 57) Exposition in fiction may be delivered through various means. As noted by Ansen Dibell, the simplest way is to just place the information between scenes as the all-seeing, all-knowing (but impersonal and invisible) narrator.(Dibell 1988, p. 51) Jessica Page Morrell has observed that various devices, such as trial transcriptions, newspaper clippings, letters, and diaries may be used to convey information.(Morrell 2006, p. 94) Another means of delivering information is through a character, either as dialogue or through the character's thoughts.(Dibell 1988, pp. 51–52) Information dump When the presentation of information in fiction becomes wordy, it is sometimes referred to as an "information dump," "exposition dump," or "plot dump." Information dumps expressed by characters in dialogue or monologue are sometimes referred to as "idiot lectures." Information dumps are sometimes placed at the beginning of stories as a means of establishing the premise of the plot. In serial television drama, exposition in individual episodes often appears as a brief montage of scenes from earlier episodes, prefaced with the phrase "Previously on [name of series]." Villain speech is a specific form of exposition in which the villain describes his sinister plans to a helpless hero, often prefacing his exposition with the comment that it can't hurt to divulge the plan, since the hero will be dead soon anyway (or the plan will be impossible to stop in the short time available). The villain's motivation sometimes includes his desire to have his cleverness admired by the character most capable of appreciating it. Examples include Comic book supervillains and villains in James Bond movies. In television, information dumps are common in sit-coms with the introduction of non-recurring characters which drive the comedic plot of a particular episode. An example would be the use of the narrator in Arrested Development to sum up the revelations and inner thoughts of characters in order to keep the viewer tuned to the plot. In television sketch comedy, which borrows from the tradition of vaudeville comedy, exposition in the most exaggerated sense is used for outrageous comedic effect. Stories which are concerned with the unearthing of a secret past sometimes include lengthy exposition sequences. These may include large quantities of exposition, complete with theorizing about the implications of the information. Examples include: Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum There really isn't anything within DH Part 1 that truly fits either aspect of that definition. Tonks calling Lupin her husband is a 'progression reference' callback to Kloves' script for HBP (wherein he established that the two of them were in a relationship, again through a line or two of reference dialogue), and Bill introducing himself and explaining the scars on his face is a character introduction. I guess that Ron's tale about how he found his way back to Harry and Hermione does qualify as exposition, as per the above definition, but it certainly doesn't feel like a traditional 'exposition scene', nor, as I mentioned, does the "Tale of the Three Brothers". weasleychild November 22nd, 2010, 1:47 pm There are so many, as i just loved the film but I will try to narrow it down! Hermionie's Leaving - Just so touching! (by far Emma Watson's best acted film so far) The Seven Potters - All because of how funny it was and seeing the other night on the 'Behind the scenes' programme how Dan actuallydone it was just hilarious! Ron as Reginald Cattermole - Too funny! The whole cinema's reaction was hilarious! Godric's Hollow - Was so well acted from both Dan and Emma, stunning! Dobby's Death - A love/hate scene! Love because it was just amazing, with such beautiful scenery, obviously hate because it was so sad to see him go! Glad I had already made my peace with it after reading the book, but still sad! Willz November 22nd, 2010, 1:59 pm 1. Harry and Rons fight. I loved it, I loved how true it was to the book and Rupert was excellent in the fight and the build up to it. You could really tell how ****** off he was. 2. Silver doe scene. Beautifully done. 3. Dobbys death *cry* 4. Godrics Hollow. The snake was so so creepy, creepier than in the book I feel, the graveyard scene was touching also, my eyes were wet :(. 5. Bella torturing Hermione. I was really freaked out, it was really really creep. Emmas screams scared the living **** out of me. So so dark. ThaiHPFan November 22nd, 2010, 2:05 pm The opening sequence is perfect, especially 'Obliviate'. I listened to the score before going to the film, but I've never realized how beautiful that track is until I heard it while watching the scene itself. Emma's acting is also amazing. And I love every second of the Tales of Three Brothers. It's the type of creativity I've always wished to see in a Harry Potter film. I love the way Death is designed (like a cross between a dementor and a traditional grim reaper), the way he bows at the three brothers before conjuring each object, the way he pulls the hanged second brother out of the room, the way he takes the third brother by transforming into a flock of crows, which it then transitioned into real crows flying outside Lovegood's house. Everything's just perfect. exl2398 November 22nd, 2010, 2:39 pm obliviate scene, the seven potters, the attack by the snatchers in the dinner, hermione being tortured, the chase by the snatchers, dobby and kreacher bringing in mundungus, and dobby in malfoy manor. magic_is_might November 22nd, 2010, 7:14 pm I'll also have the add the Snatcher chase scene. It was really fun to watch. RobinSeeker November 22nd, 2010, 7:37 pm I really loved all the additional scenes. Like Hedwig, Hermione and Harry dancing, and the way Hermione was tortured. Usually those scenes are just stupid, but I can't think of one I didn't really enjoy. DigificWriter November 22nd, 2010, 7:45 pm ^ Of those scenes you just mentioned, only the Harry/Hermione dance really is an 'additional' scene; the other scenes were in the book, but Steve Kloves and David Yates simply chose to adapt them slightly differently to how JKR describes them, which is their prerogative. MsBinns November 22nd, 2010, 8:52 pm No, when Harry is trying to slip away from the Burrow. That was a nice case of adaptation: they showed something that is simply discussed in the book. (The film would have done well to do that elsewhere, as too much exposition was a big flaw.) Gotcha! I know what the phrase "head off" means, but I guess I just couldn't figure out where Ron intervened. I enjoyed the scene a lot, but I guess it was not that memorable for me if I couldn't recall it! It will probably take several more viewings to pull out a favorite scene or two. Right now I would have to go with the Silver Doe scene. Everything from how the doe looked to Harry's realization that he has to go into the water, to how the locket strangled him and how his rescuer was slowly revealed. I loved this scene and the destruction of the locket that followed. (What I did not like was the lack of a conversation afterwards between Harry and Ron, but it does not diminish my love for the scene)! Despite some minor nitpicks (I am a very nitpicky person) I really enjoyed the Ministry of Magic scene. I was worried at how three random actors would portray our heros, but was so pleasantly surprised at how much I completely forgot that was not Dan, Rupert, and Emma on screen. The confrontation with Umbridge was wonderful and I thought Yaxley was awesome! Geisterfahrer November 22nd, 2010, 10:13 pm First off, I LOVE the Death Eater meeting scene at the beginning, probably because it's the only scene in the whole movie with Snape in it. He was excellent in the small parts he had and I can't wait to see more of him in Part 2. Harry and Hermione's dance was perfect. There was nothing romantic in it at all, it just highlighted their friendship, which I think the movie needed a little more of. Godric's Hollow was amazing, I shed tears. And Bathilda's House was excellent, just as creepy and twisted as in the book. The Tale of Three Brothers is one of my all time favorite scenes in any of the Harry Potter movies. We've never really seen an artistic side to any of the movies, but this scene was simply beautiful. My favorite moment was probably Death taking the second brother, just so well done. I got chills when Bellatrix was torturing Hermione, it was literally painful to watch. Although, as much as I live Dobby's "yes, sir, I'm an elf" line, I felt like it sort of took away from the whole darkness of the scene. All together, one of the best, if not the best film so far :tu::tu: Cissy_Malfoy November 22nd, 2010, 11:25 pm I love the scene with all the Death Eaters are the beginning. Bella's hair in it is pretty awesome and I just want to go over and give Lucius a big hug after Voldemort breaks his wand. My other favorite part was the Malfoy Manor scene. Lucius looking all stressed and rugged is really quite hot. magic_is_might November 22nd, 2010, 11:31 pm Most of Hermione's parts simply because Emma did an amazing job in this film :tu: Her scenes felt real and genuine. LaurentDR November 22nd, 2010, 11:36 pm One of my favourites scenes was the quite breif Obliviating Scene with Hermonie.. It seemed to natural and reel with the "I don't want to do this, but i have to" emotion writen all over the place. I was listning to the Mugglenet podcast today in the bus and i heard that Emma's parents got seperated so she knew how to transpose the emotion and make it look as real as possible. Another Scene thats less talked about was the Fight in between Ron and Harry. I Personally thought Dan & Rupert acted it out greatly, if i can consder it as acting.. Almost seemed they were fighting for real. Kate1026 November 23rd, 2010, 12:54 am O Children By Nick Cave AMAZING SONG, I was so happy when I saw that scene, not expecting it and having that song playing made it so much better. At first I was a bit uncomfortable, worried there was going to be some sort of romantic tension between Harry/Hermione but after seeing it again I love that scene. I also though the Tale of the Three Brothers was done perfectly, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Dobby's death was also very touching, he was just so adorable and I cried more than i've ever cried in a movie! magic_is_might November 23rd, 2010, 1:40 am AMAZING SONG, I was so happy when I saw that scene, not expecting it and having that song playing made it so much better. At first I was a bit uncomfortable, worried there was going to be some sort of romantic tension between Harry/Hermione but after seeing it again I love that scene. It's a hauntingly beautiful song :( My interpretation and from what I've heard from many others that it can be seen as a song about children who grow up too fast. I think it's perfect and extremely fitting as it relates to what these teenagers have to go through. peachacid November 23rd, 2010, 2:01 am I just yelped because of MULDERSCULLY!!! Hurray! I don't know where this will end up, but some of my favorite scenes were: Harry and Hermione dancing The totally awkward walking Harry did in the Ministry (though I have a lot of problems with that scene in general) Dark Lord Ascending The scenery in England was used very well SunXia November 23rd, 2010, 2:03 am The Tale of the Three Brothers was probably one of the more memorable scenes for me and I think Emma delivered that monologue very well, I'm glad she's stopped that "breathy thing" she had going on from the fourth film onwards!! The scene at the manor, although lacking in Peter's death, was a pretty awesomely done scene!! I suppose Crucio mean so much more in a book where in the movie i thought it was really meaningful to brand Hermione as unpure, rather like Nazism, very powerful stuff!! The Ministry of Magic infiltration was another awesome scene due to its humour, wit and how the fear was portrayed in the workers and the siolidarity of those stepping on them!! Really great scene that kept you on the edge of your seat!! magic_is_might November 23rd, 2010, 2:13 am I just yelped because of MULDERSCULLY!!! Hurray! They're my favorite TV duo ;) Anyway, I loved every shot that included the gorgeous scenery  Simply beautiful! Rich November 23rd, 2010, 2:19 am I think there were several scenes in the film that I really loved. Here are some of my favorites: -Hermione wiping out her parents memory. I think this was really believable and I actually felt bad for Hermione. Emma did a great job capturing the emotion of the moment. I actually contemplated what it'd be like if it were me in her position. -Snape entering Malfoy Manor I think Rickman is the greatest cast character and as Snape, he is the most believable. Just his body language and facial expression made his entrance fantastic and I was really excited to see him, despite his lack of popularity. -Meeting Mr. Lovegood. It was hilarious seeing Harry meet Mr. L, and especially watching Luna and Mr. L dance at the Wedding - honestly hilarious. I think Mr. L really was as crazy as I pictured him to be - after all, like daughter like father! Those are just three quick favorites. Other then that, I loved seeing Umbridge and all of the humor in the film. It came at the right times and didn't seem out of place like I feel that HP6 did. I love this film - I think it's my favorite so far. I also loved (but hated) when Voldemort got the Elder wand. I really wanted to punch Voldemort for destroying Dumbledore's tomb to get it. horcrux_7 November 23rd, 2010, 2:53 am I really liked the locket destruction scene. I thought the visual effects were great, the spiders and the smoke! It was amazing, Rupert’s acting was great, and he seemed terrified. When Hermionie and Harry kissed was cool too. It was my favorite scene. LupinTheGreat November 23rd, 2010, 4:43 am There were quite a few for me, but I'll list some. -"You're lying Dolores, and one musn't tell lies...STUPEFY" -"Whenever you are ready Sir. "Sir? I like her very much!" -"Who could love you? You're NOTHING"...Ron gets angry, Ron destroys locket. -Torture scene, It was sad...but it was done perfectly. Emma and Helena were amazing although i will say, i did not like Dobby's appearance during that moment, it felt wrong. LeStrangePoem November 23rd, 2010, 7:29 am 2. Voldemort demanding Lucius' wand. I found Isaac's performance pretty spectacular, it is really just a little set piece, but oh wow. Amen to that, AMEN! Absolutely loved Isaac's small parts in the film, this scene particular was fab. He was a highlight performer for me. Fave scenes in no real order; 1. The intro with the Muggle Studies professor Chilled me to the core. The CUs on her and Snape looking at her with everthing else in the scene = bravo. 2. The 7 Harry Potters transformation Hilarious! Love the 360 degree pan, specially when we saw Hermione change hahaha. 3. Hallows Tale The animation was a refreshing change, Emma Watson's telling of the story was really good. 4. Ministry of Magic Really enjoyable seen! The performances of the adults were great specially the guy who played Ron, the chick who played Hermione to me actually looked like an adult version of Hermione. SNet November 23rd, 2010, 8:04 am 2 scenes that did it for me, really. Hermione obliviating her parents (even though technically she confunded them rather than obliviating them, if I recall correctly) The toture scene. It was the first time that I've really felt the cruelty of the Death Eaters in one of the movies. magic_is_might November 23rd, 2010, 8:08 am The toture scene. It was the first time that I've really felt the cruelty of the Death Eaters in one of the movies. I agree. Although she didn't use her wand (well, apparently she used Crucio on her in a deleted part), the physical torture Bellatrix put on Hermione, IMHO, was even worse, because it was more personal and up close  I really felt for Hermione at that part :( And kudos to Emma for another great scene :tu: bellatrix93 November 23rd, 2010, 8:49 am -"Whenever you are ready Sir. "Sir? I like her very much!" Which scene is that? magic_is_might November 23rd, 2010, 8:50 am Which scene is that? When they are in the basement of Malfoy Manor. Luna addresses Dobby as 'sir' which Dobby likes :) Erisa November 23rd, 2010, 10:25 am I’ve only seen the film once and I may change my mind when I see it again but for now my favourite scenes are: The Malfoy Manor scene at the beginning of the film. I loved the way Snape arrived at the Manor. Alan Rickman has so much presence it’s incredible. I loved all the dialogue in this scene and how Voldemort broke Lucius’s wand. I loved the actress who plays Charity Burbage and that there was a tear in her eye after Voldemort killed her. I loved all the actors around the table including the minor characters like Yaxley and Thicknesse. The ministry scene. I liked everything about it. From the trio stunning Mafalda Hopkirk to Ron’s splinching. I loved to see them flushing down the toilets, I loved the decoy detonators, Harry finding all the files about his friends, the courtroom scene with Umbridge (I love Imelda Staunton) and Mrs Cattermole kissing Ron. Emma acted amazingly well when she was desperately trying to comfort Ron and fix him in the forest. And I’m giving a big bravo to the actors who impersonated the trio. The silver doe scene. From the moment Harry first sees this beautiful doe to Ron’s speech. I loved the way they filmed Ron rescuing Harry and that you didn’t know who it was at first. I loved the locket opening and how terrifying it was and I think Rupert and Emma were amazing when Ron came back to the tent. But I really didn’t like the fact that Harry didn’t say anything to Ron after he had witnessed the horcrux torturing him. I didn’t feel like Harry was really pleased to have Ron back and I didn’t like that because I love Harry and Ron’s friendship in the books. In the book, I loved that Ron said he was sorry for leaving and that Harry said he made it up by saving his life and destroying the horcrux. Pearl_Took November 23rd, 2010, 11:35 am -- All the Malfoy Manor scenes. Including poor Charity's horrifying final moments -- :upset: -- and Hermione's torture by Bella. Terrifically tense, brutal and chilling. Great acting in particular from Alan, Jason ... and Emma. :) -- The Ministry Heist was a great action sequence. :tu: I loved the Polyjuice wearing off the Trio, way to amp up the drama! Also loved the actors playing the Trio. (Note that Sophie Thompson, Emma's sister, played the witch that Hermione Polyjuices into!) I also loved Harry confronting Umbridge. -- I loooooved how creepy Bathilda/Nagini was. :eyebrows: - The Silver Doe. Twice now I have heard that little whisper before Harry sees the Doe: "trust me." Snape? :) Or Dumbledore, perhaps ... -- Locket Destruction sequence. Just loved it. :elaugh: TEDDY_TONKS November 23rd, 2010, 4:02 pm i do love the starting scene at the table with voldy and the deatheaters Nagini Dinner... i love the way he says it SopophorousBean November 23rd, 2010, 5:59 pm I loved the Obliviate scene, so moving and set the tone for the film really well. Emma's delivery was brilliant :) The whole Ministry sequence was amazing, seeing more of the Ministry, the 3 actors portraying the trio when they were polyjuiced and the humourous moments were hilarious! Ron as Cattermole generally, and the moment where Harry as Runcorn leaves the lift :D Other scenes I can remember, Ron getting splinched, Emma made that scene for me. So emotional. merrymarge November 23rd, 2010, 10:26 pm the scene where the Trio have to enter the Ministry of Magic through the toilets. And seeing the statue of Magic is Might. When Ron is kissing Mary Cattermole and the polyjuice potion wears off right in the middle of the kiss. I loved the 7 Potters. And the wedding scene. I think the most chilling part is when Voldemort takes the Elder wand holds it up and there are sparks flying out of it. AnotherD November 23rd, 2010, 10:37 pm Favorites: 1. Obliviate 2. Snape arriving at Malfoy Manor--the look on his face :tu: 3. The look on Ron's face when he sees Hermione at the wedding *awwww* 4. The fight between Ron and Harry 5. Hermione's torture (not that I enjoyed seeing her be tortured, of course! It was well acted). I also really liked the moment when they zoomed in on the spells clashing during the sky chase--and following up Voldemort's spell to his face. That was pretty cool. I've got to agree about this one :agree:! I think all of Voldemort's scenes stood out in this movie. I was on the edge of my seat, per se, during that entire part. I also liked the scene at the end with the Elder Wand. Ralph Fiennes' performance during that scene isn't something I'm going to be forgetting anytime soon! And on that note, I, too, loved the scenes in Malfoy Manor with the DE's and Charity Burbage. Voldemort has always been twisted and evil in general, but this was something else entirely! In addition, the way he stroked Nagini and told her to feast on Charity's dead body...oooh. There's something else I won't be forgetting for quite some time. magic_is_might November 24th, 2010, 7:57 pm We just assume that she's [Hermione] the brilliant one - everything must be perfect with her and her home life. We are never bothered to see how she's personally affected by what they've done the last 7 years. We know a lot about Ron's family, and Harry's family. All we know about Hermione's parents is that they are muggles and that they are dentists. I think it's only fair to spare a bit of extra time to Hermione to find out what she's done in fear for her family. Also, how much this has affected her. We rarely get to see his stuff about her. I'm glad they put it in, it's a rare glimpse into her home life. If anything, this scene was too short. I wrote this in another thread under a different context, but I think it can work here too. This is why I feel Hermione's obliviate scene is one of my favorites :( It's just so sad and depressing and see our strong female heroine affected like this. Sensy November 24th, 2010, 9:17 pm Definitely The tale of the three brothers. Oh, and Harry and Hermione dancing. It was so touchy. Also Ron and Harry fight. And I laughed a lot when they were in the ministry of magic. Sirius_Bluish November 25th, 2010, 5:29 am Forest of Dean, Voldemort at Malfoy Manor and the tale of the three brothers were awesome. PotterGurl08 November 25th, 2010, 5:41 am My favorite scenes were: - The 7 Potters - The Ministry of Magic scene - The infamous Harry/Hermione dance scene - Ron destroying the horcrux (and the Harry/Ron moment afterwards, "Keep talking about that ball of light touching your heart and she'll come around." I LOL'ed so much) - The Tale of the 3 Brothers - The Malfoy Manor (Hermione's torture, Dobby...Just a great scene, imo) alice_riddle November 25th, 2010, 6:16 am My favorite scenes were: - The 7 Potters - The Ministry of Magic scene - The infamous Harry/Hermione dance scene - Ron destroying the horcrux (and the Harry/Ron moment afterwards, "Keep talking about that ball of light touching your heart and she'll come around." I forgot to add the graveyard scene. Harry at his parents' grave, I thought was beautiful and touching, just as I did in the book when I read it. Which is why I am annoyed at some feeling Hermione's placing her head on his shoulder was inappropriate, tying it back to the dance scene. That was just beautiful touching moment between friends... :grumble: But like you said, to each their own! lol 9th_Wonder November 25th, 2010, 6:48 pm After seeing the movie twice, the three main scenes that stood out to me were -The Ministry of Magic sequence -The destruction of the locket horcrux -Bellatrix torturing Hermione/Malfoy Manor Sequence I loved the movie. There were a lot of subtle things I liked as well. weasley9 November 25th, 2010, 7:16 pm -The opening sequence with Scrimgeour and the trio montage -The Dark Lord Ascending -The part where they leave the wedding through where they get to Grimmauld Place -The montage showing the Hogwarts Express, Diagon Alley, and the Ministry -Ministry scenes -The whole of Godrics Hollow -The Silver Doe/locket destruction -The Three Brothers animation and the Lovegood house attack -Snatcher chase -Hermione's torture -Dobby's death Oh my gosh. Let's disregard that that's like, half the movie. awpbdmrln1class November 26th, 2010, 3:16 am There are many scenes that I enjoyed and felt the movie did well in portraying, but my favorite scene would have to be the Three Brothers' Tale. Although it was the only part of the movie without any actual actors in it, the animations and narration were magnificent. I believe the point of the story was taken smoothly and it could not have been told in a better manner. I loved many scenes though including both Malfoy Manner scenes especially!!!!! Did anybody else understand how Bellatrix's hair that lands on Hermione's arm after she is tortured is actaully vital to the story?!?:) How attentive to detail and to the story is THAT!?!:D I loved the movie.................. Meggy November 26th, 2010, 12:10 pm I loved almost all of the scenes in this film, it was quite loyal to the book. But to name a few favourites: 1. Hermione modifying her parents memories - So touching and sad, and the way her picture in the photographs just disappeared was devastating to watch! 2. The Death Eater attack in the night cafe was really intense. 3. Hedwig's death - This was so sad and I think the way she died was much better than in the book. She died trying to protect Harry which is so touching. 4. The chase scene - Hermione, Ron and Harry running through the woods from the snatcher's was brilliant, and I really love how Hermione turns round and casts that stinging spell on Harry. One thing bothered me though (same with the book) - why didn't Harry, Ron and Hermione not just disapparate again when they ran into the snatchers? I mean instead of running they could have just grabbed hold and took off? 5. Dobby's death was so emotional. People were crying in the cinema, it was so so touching. gelowo93 November 26th, 2010, 8:03 pm Throughout the first 30 minutes of the movie I was pretty close to tears - Hermione erasing her parents' memories, Harry looking around Privet Drive for the last time, Hedwig's death etc. It was probably the best opening of all the Harry Potter movies. Apart from the beginning, I liked the Silver Doe scene. It was almost exactly how I imagined it to be - well I didn't expect the Horcrux vision to be quite so big but that's the filmmakers making it better on screen and it was still good. Sirius_Bluish November 27th, 2010, 12:11 pm I also really liked Scrimgeour's speech at the beginning, Bill Nighy gave it such intensity and I think it set the mood brilliantly for the rest of the film. adorey1 November 27th, 2010, 5:48 pm its not really a scene, but it's my favourite moment in the entire film. it's the moment when we see hermione in her beautiful scarlett dress; she smiles and looks at ron and he gazes at her. such an innocent expression on his face and in that moment, regardless of whether you've read the books or seen the other films, you know that he's in love with her. lovely bit of acting from rupert (who repeats the same facial expression when he watched hermion playing 'fur elise' on piano!) as the character he plays usually demands rather comical, bolshy acting. it's nice to see ron exude feelings of calm and adoration as he watches hermione. it just made me want to shout out "FOR GOD'S SAKE, JUST KISS THE GIRL!!!" MsBinns November 27th, 2010, 6:47 pm In addition to almost all of the moments mentioned, I have to say I adored the moment after the Seven Potters when Ron returns, he and Hermione share a very sweet moment, and then Harry just charges in and they all hug. I'm not sure why I love that moment so much, but to me it shows the depth of their feelings. Ron and Hermione really are Harry's family. LuMac November 27th, 2010, 7:51 pm The opening montage after Scrimegour's speech The fight in the cafe The entire scene in the MoM Harry-Ron fight The trio running after being spotted by the snatchers hpfan5 November 27th, 2010, 8:30 pm its not really a scene, but it's my favourite moment in the entire film. it's the moment when we see hermione in her beautiful scarlett dress; she smiles and looks at ron and he gazes at her. such an innocent expression on his face and in that moment, regardless of whether you've read the books or seen the other films, you know that he's in love with her. lovely bit of acting from rupert (who repeats the same facial expression when he watched hermion playing 'fur elise' on piano!) as the character he plays usually demands rather comical, bolshy acting. it's nice to see ron exude feelings of calm and adoration as he watches hermione. it just made me want to shout out "FOR GOD'S SAKE, JUST KISS THE GIRL!!!" I adored this scene! The way he looked at her showed so much love. Rupert did a great job with that look. It is my favorite moment in the movie too. hobo123 November 27th, 2010, 10:10 pm not really a scene but i really liked the moment after the ghostly DD, as we are zooming out, hermione says "we are alone" and it fades to black StaceysChain November 27th, 2010, 10:23 pm My favourite part in the film is where the trio are in the abandoned caravan park/under the power plants and the crackly voice-over from the radio is heard announcing the names of the missing witches and wizards. It's a beautiful but sad sequence in my opinion. It really tells you how dangerous the world has become. hobo123 November 27th, 2010, 10:40 pm Agreed. magic_is_might November 27th, 2010, 10:41 pm My favourite part in the film is where the trio are in the abandoned caravan park/under the power plants and the crackly voice-over from the radio is heard announcing the names of the missing witches and wizards. It's a beautiful but sad sequence in my opinion. It really tells you how dangerous the world has become. I agree - it really is a beautiful yet sad scene :( Honeyducks November 28th, 2010, 12:10 am My favorite scenes are from the moment that we see the WB logo to the end of the credits, every single scene stands out! Even the little moments, like the landscapes while we hear the radio, when hermione cuts Harry's hair, when the trio are in the street, when they are outside from Grimmauld Place, when Harry and Hermione are in the Forest of Dean, its a beautiful movie to watch! merrymarge November 28th, 2010, 3:10 am I like the part where Voldemort holds up the Elder wand and there is lightning and sparks flying. It's like you know there is more to come. I also like the scene of Harry holding Dobby after they escaped form Malfoy Manor and he begs "Help me!" I also like the opening scene with the DE all sitting around the table and Voldemort tells Snape that they have saved a seat for him. that whole scene just sets the tone of the movie. kreestu November 28th, 2010, 7:19 am Hm, I REALLY loved the scene where Hermione casts a Memory Charm on her parents. Even though it's only mentioned in the books, this scene really shows to viewers the seriousness of what is going on. I also enjoyed the Snatcher chase scene. Also, the scene when Ron destroys the Horcrux- loved it. magic_is_might November 28th, 2010, 8:25 am Any scene that displayed the breathtaking brilliance of the beautiful scenery  phoenix88 November 28th, 2010, 8:38 am There are so many it is hard to just pick a few. Like many have said, I loved the entire opening sequence. It really set the tone for the entire film. The silver doe was beautiful as well, and I loved all the traveling scenes with the gorgeous landscapes, especially the foresee of dean. The animation sequence was riveting as well. I thought Emma was such a standout. Whenever she was on the verge of tears I.e. Ron getting splinted, Ron leaving, Dobby dying...I was too. lupislune November 28th, 2010, 6:06 pm I thought George's appearance in the kitchen just after Harry and Ginny kiss was very amusing. His expression and the manner in which he says good morning was quite entertaining. franckolat November 28th, 2010, 7:08 pm There are a lot of cool scenes in the movie but the ones that work the most for me are: -The Death Eaters' meeting -Harry and Ginny's kiss -The will -The fight in the café -The whole Grimmauld Place/Ministry of Magic act (best part of the film in my opinion) -The traveling montage with atmospheric, dark, electronic music and gorgeous sceneries -Harry and Ron's fight -***THE DANCE*** -The shadowplay -The escape from Malfoy Manor -Dobby's death -The grave robbery HedwigOwl November 29th, 2010, 2:26 am So far, I like every single scene in DH. I think the scripting, directing, and acting are all done so well that the whole thing is my favorite right now. thecreepingwolf November 30th, 2010, 5:07 am In no particular order, my favorites are: The Death Eater meeting. Harry and Hermione dancing. Hermione being tortured by Bellatrix(However, i was very ****** with how they destroyed most of the tension of this scene. In the book it was completely gutwrenching whereas for the movie they lightened the overall mood. On a good note, Bellatrix physically cutting Hermione was a great idea. :tu: Lovekiva November 30th, 2010, 7:53 am -The opening sequence of the trio getting ready to leave their homes behind. Especially Hermione obliviating her parents was a very powerful scene. -Bellatrix torturing Hermione and carving the word mudblood on her arm. Very savage, very Bellatrix. -The whole Ministry of Magic part. -The tale of the three brothers in animation form. Brilliant. CharmedMom December 2nd, 2010, 4:51 am I read a lot of these threads before I could finally "enroll" So now, I am trying to play catch up. Anyway, favorite scenes: The beginning sequences, especially Hermione obliviating her parent - very emotional. The 7 Harry's probably would have been if I hadn't seen it so much before hand. I liked the change of Hedwig's death. One thing that struck me, especially the second time around was a line in a scene. At Grimmauld place, after Hermione casts the spell to check for other people, she says "We're alone." Yes, she means alone in the house. Put it's meaning hit me as also showing how alone they were now. They had just escaped the wedding and the death eaters and were starting their quest without any of their parents or teachers for support. In general, I liked their travels. Beautiful and haunting places.... and lonely. I liked Xenophilius, but the scene was not quite satidfying at his house. But I loved the Deathly Hallows sequence! Perfect! I could comment on more... but that would start sounding like a whole movie discussion! Googlie December 2nd, 2010, 7:29 am - The Tale of Three Brothers, easily the standout scene in the movie for me. - The 7 Potters, especially Dan's body language ("Harry, your eyesight really is awful." :tu:) - All the Ron-Hermione moments, every single one of them. Special mention to that adoring oh-so-in-love look that he gives her during the wedding  - The MoM sequence, gripping and hilarious at the same time. - The face-off between Ron and Harry. I was looking forward to this scene, and I wa completely satisfied by it. - Harry visiting his parents' grave. - The Silver Doe. Loved reading it, loved watching it. :) - Harry-Hermione dance. Such a beautiful and bittersweet moment. - The final scene showing the most powerful wand in the hands of the most evil way to bring the curtains down on the movie. halfbreedlover December 2nd, 2010, 5:34 pm This isn't really a scene, but I really liked that line of Hermione's where she analyzes her own intelligence. It was funny because it was something that could have been ripped off of a post or editorial here. :) ParanoidAndroid December 2nd, 2010, 6:49 pm My two favourite scenes both seemed out of place with the tone of the rest of the film, but the film was all over the place in that repect. They were the dance scene and the Tale of the Three Brothers. The former had a sort of melancholy and sadness that the movies have never really achieved before and the latter was just a beautifully done animated sequence. They were my favourite two scenes the first time I saw it and now after three times they still remain up there. AgnesKlee December 2nd, 2010, 8:05 pm Quite a few to choose from, which I think is only a good thing. These are the first that come to my mind: - The Tale of the Three Brothers animation. A completely unexpected technique which played out great. It was beautiful and not out of place, despite the fact that at first one might think that having this cartoonish scene in the middle of the movie might be weird. - George in the kitchen. Just the matter-of-fact and yet very hinting look and tone he has. :eyebrows: And Harry's awkwardness after that. - Snape's entrance to the Malfoy Manor. Awesome. Pure awesome. =D - The scene with Nagini, when she seems to have disappeared and then suddenly she reappears on the upper floor again. Startled me both times I saw it. The whole Bathilda part was creepy which is exactly what I hoped it would be. - Harry as Runcus and the way he walks in the Ministry - it's hilarious. Just thinking about it makes me laugh. writerliz88 December 3rd, 2010, 12:17 am I know that I'm in the minority, but I loved the Fred/George "holey" scene.. made me sniffly. LupinTheGreat December 3rd, 2010, 3:19 am Hehe, My friend and I can't help thinking about Umbridge getting stupefied. It was so funny for me and it was even funnier when my friend thought Harry had KILLED her with the spell lol. I had to explain to him afterwords that just because because Harry got her straight in the head, and even though she looked dead...it was merely a Stun which left Umbridge out cold. He also asked me why other people Harry Stupefies never seem to pass out like that (Lucius being one of them), and i really couldn't come up with anything to say lol. Any responses? :D LaurentDR December 3rd, 2010, 3:28 am I just can't get over the Obliviate scene with Hermonie... For a weird reason its stuck in my head exl2398 December 3rd, 2010, 4:15 am I just can't get over the Obliviate scene with Hermonie... For a weird reason its stuck in my head that scene is so powerful. Schlubalybub December 3rd, 2010, 8:32 am that scene is so powerful. I agree. I said to my boyfriend "I'm crying here, and it's only three minutes in..." So I cried at the beginning, the middle (Harry's parents' graves scene) and the end with Dobby. Thing is, I'm fairly certain that the last two are the only two I cried at in the book. I wonder if I'm going to cry at part two? I think my favourite scenes were when Ron destroyed the locket (that was exactly how I imagined it) and when they went to see Xenophilius Lovegood (Rhys Ifans was perfect!) Apheka December 3rd, 2010, 8:52 am I loved the 7 Harrys but it took a second viewing to catch Mad-eye's brilliant adaptation of a broom. I also love the scene in the graveyard where Hermione puts her head on Harry's shoulder as though she's thinking about her own parents as well as his. It goes with the look on her face as she obliviates the DEs in the cafe. rettop yrrah December 3rd, 2010, 10:01 am I could not find a more appropriate spot to post this question - so here goes. I loved the scene in the graveyard at GH not for what happened but the location itself. Does anyone know if this was a set or a real location, if it was a real spot does anyone know where? SopophorousBean December 3rd, 2010, 12:42 pm I could not find a more appropriate spot to post this question - so here goes. I loved the scene in the graveyard at GH not for what happened but the location itself. Does anyone know if this was a set or a real location, if it was a real spot does anyone know where? I think they filmed on location somewhere and then added it in with green screen, so the graveyard was probably a set with bits added in in the background. There's more about it here on Leaky (http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/2010/3/26/more-details-about-godrics-hollow-scenes-filmed-in-ethereal-lavenham) Reflecting on the film I still love the Tale of the Three Brothers and the way it was done, listening to the soundtrack again I can picture that story and think it was done beautifully :) I was watching a tv reveiw of DH and even the non-potter fans on the panel were won over by this animation, you can see why :) emmitts December 3rd, 2010, 10:40 pm I loved the scene where Hermione was in her home, it was good that they included that because Hermione's a really secretive character, it was kind of wierd seeing her family and her house, but I liked it. I think it made the audience kinda realise the severity of the situation going on, 'cause she had to completely eliminate her presence from her parent's memories :/ I also really loved the scene where Ron destroys the Horcrux. It was brilliant :D Prince659 December 5th, 2010, 12:15 am -Harry and Hermione dancing. That was really probably my favorite part. It was absolutely great. -The Seven Potters, especially when Fred says that thing about easing the tension, and Fleur tells Bill not to look at her. :) -The bit where Hermione is showing Ron how to play the piano...I really liked that. -George in the kitchen with Ginny and Harry. -The part where Lupin realises they've been betrayed. Grymmditch December 12th, 2010, 5:46 pm Not my favorite scene, really, but hands down the most funny: After Dobby drops the chandelier on Bella and Narcissa, and Bella accuses him of trying to kill them: "Oh no, Dobby never meant to kill; seriously injure or perhaps maim, yes, but not kill".. LOL! I liked Dobby a whole lot more after that. He was too funny to die. NOX__x December 13th, 2010, 1:32 am The dance between Harry and Hermione, of course. Harry's awful dancing... it just lightened the mood so much, and I know that if I were in Hermione's shoes, I would appreciate that moment so much. And then the song choice... I still can't get over it. I listen to it all the time, and I realize how well it fit their situation, and just... ahhh. So fantastic. Hermione's torture, "Mudblood" carved into her arm. Such a powerful moment. Also, Bellatrix throwing the knife. Epic. Kingsley's patronus. The "They are coming... they are coming..." is so haunting, it's fantastic. 'Twas my favorite part from the trailers. N_Mado December 13th, 2010, 4:20 pm Hermione's obliviate scene... The snatcher's chase... Wow intense The tale of three brothers... Great The trio at Malfoy Manor.. Harry & Ron fight.. Dobby at Grimmauld Place . :D :D HarryH1993 December 13th, 2010, 4:57 pm - Hermione using obliviate to wipe her parents memories - that scene was so perfect, and Emma just shone throughout that whole scene. The music, the emotion and the intensity - absolutely perfect. - Snape's entry to Malfoy Manor was (excuse my language) bad-***! I loved it - as soon as he saw the table and Voldemort the music stopped - very intense. - Voldemort finally gets his hands on the Elder Wand - that scene was done so well. Epic music - next time you watch it, focus on Voldemort facial expression where possible - its PURE evil! :D - Harry, Ron and Hermione captured and taken to Malfoy Manor - brilliant, dark and got my adrenaline pumping! On a sidenote, I laughed so hard at Luna and Xeno dancing at the wedding  Oh and also loved the scene where Harry and Hermione dance (so perfect) and the scene where Hermione blasts Ron when he returns! And also Ron and Harrys fight - Ill stop now! :D SadiraSnape December 13th, 2010, 5:06 pm Hands down, the entire scene with Snape at Malfoy Manor, especially his entrance, with the contemptuous dismissal of the gate. Is there any other actor who can convey such emotion just with his eyes???? The Seven Harrys was great. The silver doe patronus, the return of Ron, and the destruction of the Horcrux. Harry and Hermione's dance. Dobby in the cellar at Malfoy Manor. SnakeSinister December 14th, 2010, 12:30 am I like the Nagini attack it was a thrill. Creepy too. I also liked When Ron returned and went into his whole Hermione's voice bit...I love the way the camera kept closing in on her in that part, it was better than the booK, more suggestive to their romance. I liked Malfoy's five-O-clock shadow too to show his stress, that was a nice touch. (sorry that's not really a scene). The wedding was a cool scene they were quick with the exposition about DD but I liked that. OH! I almost forgot, the Deathly hallows scene! That was BRILLIANT the art direction was fantastic! Very creative and erie looking. HermioneAngel December 19th, 2010, 6:04 am My favorite scenes... that's hard. Ron telling Hermione about the ball of light after she tries to KILL him. "Twilight's fine! Twilight's BETTER!" Torture scene. So amazing. When Ron gets kissed in the ministry of magic. It made me laugh so hard. LadySylvia December 21st, 2010, 5:40 pm I have a lot of favorite scenes from DH: 1) The Trio's escape from Bill and Fleur's interrupted wedding 2) The attack of the Deatheaters in London 3) The Trio's fight and Ron's departure (which featured the best acting in the movie) 4) Harry and Hermione's escape from Godric's Hollow 5) Ron's return 6) The sequence featuring the tale about the Deathly Hallows 7) Dobby's rescue of the Trio, Luna and Mr. Ollivander from the Malfoy manor But my favorite sequence (which I believe is one of the best in the entire franchise to date) is the Trio's attempt to find and get their hands on the locket at the Ministry of Magic. Fabulous scene. Fawkesfan1 December 21st, 2010, 11:43 pm In no particular order: 1) The Seven Potters... this scene was well done and really made me laugh... 2) The flight to Ron's house -- both this and the battle on the way there were both well done... 3) Harry and co's trip to the M.O.M.: one of the best parts, imo -- so almost 1984-ish in a way atmosphere wise... 4) Nagini attack -- this part I didn't see coming at all. 5) Fred's comment to George about his ear... that made me laugh quite a bit. 6) The Silver Doe -- so well done there. 7) Everyone saying good bye and leaving (Harry, Ron and Hermione) their families... so sad. Chudleycanons December 22nd, 2010, 12:01 am I loved the ministry scene, specifically the part featuring the decoy detonators. I thought the CG and direction of them was well done and I really enjoyed watching them cause such a ruckus for some reason. I also loved the destruction of the locket and the Godric's Hollow scene. Both scenes were very emotionally gripping and suspenseful and made me feel almost exactly the same as how I felt when I read them. Sam_Lestrange December 22nd, 2010, 12:39 am For me, it'd be.. - The beginning where Hermione casts obliviate on her parents. Was so sad and the scene showed a bit more about Hermione's life and lifestyle. We got to see her parents, her room, photos, etc. - The seven Potters and their flight to The Burrow. Was very well done, sad to see Hedwig go. :( - Malfoy Manor scene at the end, with Bellatrix. She totally owned that scene. It was horrifying to watch her torture Hermione. The scene was very, very good. Then when Dobby saves the day. :) fineandmellow December 22nd, 2010, 1:24 am The Tale of the Three Brothers scene was one of my favorites. The animation was done just beautifully. Felt like I'd entered a fairy tale storybook. It was a lovely experience. I also loved the scene in the woods where the snatchers were chasing the trio. It was so intense and the way it was shot was very visually pleasing. ILuvDarkMarks December 22nd, 2010, 3:20 am "The Seven Potters" and the following chase/ Hedwig's death. Wonderfully done. The Ministry scene was one of my favorites out of all movies so far. It was the perfect balance of intense and comical and kept you on your toes the whole time. (Although, I did not like the casting of Runcorn; I didn't feel he looked threatening enough, but that just my opinion!) Godric's Hollow was a beautiful scene, at Lily and James's grave. And continuing on to Bathilda Bagshot (who was just awesomely creepy) and Nagini attack. There are no words..so very well done! The Tale of the Three Brothers was a great animation! Malfoy Manor. I'm a sucker for Helena Bonham Carter anyway but there was brilliant acting on her part and on Emma Watson's during the torture. Pretty sure I cried during that. Everything else about that scene was great. Dobby's death was so well done and so emotional. 714flame December 22nd, 2010, 9:55 pm The Harry/Hermione dance is to me the most touching, moving, favourite, etc. scene in the movie. It shows what could have been in contrast to what happened and what difference it makes. For an "invented (movie-only) scene, it is nothing short of spectacular. Michimagus December 23rd, 2010, 1:22 am In order from best favorite: 1. The fight. Rupert is in his best in this one. His face, his timing, his performance is just top notch. Even the look he gives Hermione before leaving the tent, waiting to see if she would follow him. 2. Harry and Hermione dance scene. It is very tender and emotional moment for both. 3. Ron's return, especially his line about the "light going into his chest" and Hermione's reaction. 4. Riddle Harry and Riddle Hermione and Ron destroying the Horcrux. Very moving moment for Ron and very convincing taunting from Harry and Hermione. 5. The break at the MoM. The trio's performance and the 3 actors characterization of the trio replacement, they are all very good. TLFL22 December 23rd, 2010, 3:23 am I loved the Ron splinching scenes, it showed how much Hermione cared for Ron Sam_Lestrange December 23rd, 2010, 5:35 am My favourite scene is definitely when Harry, Ron & Hermione are at Malfoy Manor. Though so evil, when Bellatrix was torturing Hermione, the acting was exceptional. Hermione's screaming was so hard to bare, it was outstanding. The scene was so emotional and had me on the edge of my seat. I loved it. BorisKelpman January 19th, 2011, 7:09 pm This scene doesn't appear to be mentioned often (or, if it has, I must not be paying attention particularly well!), but in terms of direction and performances, the absolute stand-out scene for me in Part I is when Hermione is putting up the protective charms around camp and the Snatchers pass by with a new victim in the woods, causing momentary distress. What I appreciate the most in the scene is how the camera moves continuously between Hermione's side of the bubble, where sound beyond the "border" is muted and we only hear her quiet reactions, and Scabior's side of the bubble, where we can't hear Hermione's breathing. How the two of them are only inches away from her as Scabior is staring right in Hermione's direction, as if he senses something peculiar...it was actually quite tense. DA93 January 19th, 2011, 9:08 pm My favorite scene was the opening scenes. It really managed to capture the trio and show that serious business is about to happen :p Malfoy Manor was also a great scene in my opinion. Showed the Death Eaters alone, and it was really creepy! After these first two scenes i knew the rest of the movie was going to be great ! :D ohsnapkid January 19th, 2011, 9:15 pm The opening sequence (of the trio). The shot of Aunt Petunia is probably my favorite moment in the film - wish Yates had lingered a little bit longer on it. Dead Star April 23rd, 2011, 10:50 pm The trio in the Ministry of Magic; it had both humour and tension (when the trio are running towards the Floo fireplaces at the end of the scene in slow-motion I felt like "oh no what if they don't escape?!" even though I knew they would, heh). The scene at Bathilda Bagshot's house; possibly even creepier than in the book. The Tale of the Three Brothers sequence. The final scene, where Voldemort takes the Elder Wand from Dumbledore's tomb. I didn't know that was going to be the last scene of the film, I thought it would be Dobby's death and burial; but the Voldemort scene, I thought, was a great place to end the movie, good cliffhanger, and it made me really excited to see Part 2, as well as really upset that Part 2 wouldn't be out for another 8 months  Rookie_Angel April 24th, 2011, 2:52 am I liked the cafe scene--the first of them really being totally on their own. I liked the MOM scene--which was my favorite scene in the book!--but I didn't like how Mrs. Cattermole was left feeling tricked and confused, I'd have preferred to lose the laugh of 'hey, she's kissing Ron' and have her get out of there and head home--or even have Ron now as Ron reiterate what they should do and have her/them buy it and take off. I think we lost the drama of helping Umbridge's victims for the humor of 'hey, she's kissing Ron." But otherwise I really liked it. acciowinter May 22nd, 2011, 8:10 pm I actually liked a lot of scenes in this movie. - the Ministry scene was VERY well done imo. They did such a greatjob and I wasn't let down at all. The Ministry chapter was actually one of my favorite from the first part of the book so I was quite anxious to see how they dealt with that on screen. great job though! - The Lovegood stuff was also really well done. I loved how Xeno looked exactly like I imagined him, the house was also really cool and the Tale was well done. As I am rewatching the film a lot lately I also realized that I love how Xeno said 'Voldemort' and immeadiately the DE appeared and destroyed the house. - all Ron&Hermione scene because they were just perfect. Rupert adn Emma do such a good job portraying the RHr awkwardness and subtlety. I love it. The piano scene is probably my favorite. - at Malfoy's Manor. I am really torn about this scene. There are huge parts I would have loved to see differently but I thought the part with Emma and Helena was done SO freaking well, I love it. I love the darkness of that scene too and Draco not identifying Harry and it just all floats really well imo. MC2456 June 6th, 2011, 2:46 pm This is a real tiny scene, but I really loved the scene in Grimmauld Place where Hermione teaches Ron how to play the piano. It's just so CUTE! I don't ship anyone, but I just want to fangirl and squee over them in that scene. Samuel5 June 6th, 2011, 5:43 pm This is a real tiny scene, but I really loved the scene in Grimmauld Place where Hermione teaches Ron how to play the piano. It's just so CUTE! I don't ship anyone, but I just want to fangirl and squee over them in that scene. I liked that scene too. I felt Ron's pain in trying to learn that Fur Elise song. I play the piano and I took me a while to fully master it. It was also a great bonding moment for Hermione and Ron. horcrux4 June 7th, 2011, 12:13 am I loved the opening scene where Hermione obliviates her parents' memories. We know from the book that she does it but it was much more intense seeing it happen. The Ministry scene: I thought the actors who played Runcorn, Cattermole and Hopkirk were stunning! The whole scene managed to be funny and scary at the same time. When Yaxley was following them through the Atrium it reminded me of Terminator 2 - he had that same horrible unstoppability. The first scene in Malfoy Manor, from "We've saved you a seat" - Voldemort sounding so nice but with a threat underneath it - to Lucius losing his wand - Jason Isaacs again stealing the scene. I was gripped. Harry at his parents' grave - very moving. LovelyLapin June 7th, 2011, 2:24 am I loved the opening scene where Hermione obliviates her parents' memories. I was gripped. Harry at his parents' grave - very moving. Wow, we have almost all the same favorites! The opening of this movie was probably actually my favorite part. Even though the Dursley's exit from Privet Drive (& Harry's life, most likely for good) was not the same as in the books, but the expression on Petunia's face was still pretty good. Then Hermione & her parents almost made me sniffle a little (even though I knew it was coming, like you said) because of the way she slowly disappeared from the pictures. Also, Snape's approach to Malfoy Manor was very dramatic, & I liked it, a lot. Besides that, the scene at The Ministry definitely lived up to my expectations. Even though the actors weren't the same as the descriptions in the book, they way they almost looked like older versions of the characters was quite funny. Ron probably was the best part of the set. magnolia7 June 7th, 2011, 2:36 am I loved the opening scene where Hermione obliviates her parents' memories. Its almost here :D iluvsnape17 June 7th, 2011, 8:21 pm Probably Hermione obliviating her parents' memories. That was so sad. I thought Emma's acting was brilliant when she was tortured by Bellatrix. That scene was intense. Harry and Hermione's dance was sweet and funny. To me it didn't even seem to imply any romantic level, which was really good. It just looked like a tender moment between two close friends. JordanBell June 8th, 2011, 3:13 am "I knew Ginny was lying about that tattoo" AccioSeverus June 8th, 2011, 10:26 am Let's see.. DH Part I has been my favorite of the films so far, so naturally I loved all of it and have a lot of favorite scenes, but these are my top ones: - Hermione erasing her parents' memories. So sad. T_T - Snape, Voldemort, etc, at Malfoy Manor. Such a creepy scene! - The Seven Potters. Completely enthralling and breath-taking! Just how I imagined from the book. - Godric's Hollow. So emotional. - The Silver Doe. This was just how I imagined as well. Has always been one of my favorite scenes in the book, and it was perfect on film. - Malfoy Manor and Dobby's death. Emotional and very well acted. Loved it! Scabior June 9th, 2011, 1:09 pm Hermione's Parents..."Maybe we should just stay here, Harry...grow old." The Death of the House-elf Godric's Hollow Graveyard iluvsnape17 June 9th, 2011, 1:45 pm Hermione's Parents..."Maybe we should just stay here, Harry...grow old." I loved that line - so sad! acciowinter June 13th, 2011, 7:01 pm "Maybe we should just stay here, Harry...grow old." </3 this too. It makes me sad every time I watch it. It such a small, beautiful scene. I love the HHr friendship. It makes me jealous haha even if it is only fictional. decarus June 13th, 2011, 7:16 pm I like how you can see some of the other characters in the background of the poster. If this is what is on the dvd then i am sure it will be fine there. I like the trio running on the DH1 dvd. It is a fine poster. MinervasCat June 13th, 2011, 8:16 pm I have quite a few since I thought this was one of the best of the films since Sorcerer's Stone: Hermione erasing her parents' memories...it was so sad. "Fleur's" "Don't look at me. I'm 'ideous." The twins trying to ease the tension. From the time Severus flies in and enters Malfoy Manor until just before Nagini crawls up the table and jumps at the screen. All of Snape's, Voldemort's, and Lucius' scenes during that part were fantastic. The wedding, but there wasn't enough shown of it. Fleur's dress was gorgeous. The scene in the graveyard where Harry finds his parents' graves and Hermione conjurs a wreath for him. Harry and Hermione's dance. That was so touching. All of the scenes with Dobby. The Silver Doe. Ron destroying the Horcrux. Snapes_Girl June 13th, 2011, 8:55 pm My favorite scenes in DH are: 1.) Snape arriving at Malfoy Manor. 2.) When the others were changing into Harry after drinking the Polyjuice potion...especially when George and Fred looked at one another and announced that they were identical 3.) The Silver Doe appearing in the Forest of Dean 4.) Kingsley's patronus warns the wedding party that the Ministry has fallen and the DEs were coming...made chills run down my spine 5.) Dobby's burial...brings tears to my eyes each time Noldus June 13th, 2011, 9:44 pm - The infamous dance scene - Obliviate & Hermione talking about her parents and how everything has changed - Hermione almost caught by snatchers - The Three Brothers animation - Godric's Hollow - First Malfoy Manor scene Badgers_Rule June 18th, 2011, 11:53 am I liked the hole Godrics Hollow scene 7 Potters was great Destruction of the Horcrux was cool Hermione wiping her parents memories Michimagus June 19th, 2011, 2:26 am The best parts I always want to repeat again every time I re-watch the movie are: Everything in the MoM is fantastic. Since the moment the characters of Harry, Ron and Hermione change into ministry officials, the whole scene plays perfect. The actors who portray the trio are all spot on; they couldn’t have picked better candidates. Harry as Runcorn is not only funny when needed, but also shows very good emotions when necessary. The way he looks over the flyers of the wanted members of the Order, it’s like seeing the real Harry’s emotion of sadness. Ron as Mr. Cattermole is perfect, his facial expressions and comic timing when worried about his wife, and having to flush down the toilet is like seeing the real Ron, just perfect. The scene as a whole is fantastic, even until then all transformed to their real selves is flawless. The trio escape has the perfect timing and sense of urgency. I think what makes it even better is the following scene of the trio in the forest and Hermione desperation of Ron being splinched. Emma is great is that scene, her voice practically breaking up in panic and horror of the situation completes the scene in a notch. The dance between Harry and Hermione, even thought not in the book, is perfect in the movie version. It is very moving and sad, seeing both friends immersed in total isolation and complete sadness because of Ron leaving. The acting is superb, and the timing in the film couldn’t have been better. The music complements the feeling of loneliness and solitude. I see this inclusion by the filmmakers as trying to show a little break of all the darkness in the film, to have two teenagers loosing themselves and being kids again for their last time; because as soon as the song ends they are forced back to their reality representing the end of innocence and having to face the danger of the real world they are forced to live. masoudhollywood June 19th, 2011, 7:54 am Honestly, DH is one of my favorite movies, part 1 at least (and I hope part 2 also) and I'm very picky about films...the reason is because it is so close to the book (minus the whole Kreacher/Dobby thing), but yeah since DH is my favorite book, it's just incredible. I love EVERY part of DH P1. NoobTwinz5 June 21st, 2011, 9:37 pm I really liked the destruction of the Horcrux scene. It was so intense, and I loved how they added the spiders that crawl over Ron when it says "...and I have seen your fears." Also, I loved the attack at Godric's Hollow with Nagini. It was so incredible that they could have the CGI snake interact with Harry, but of course, it's Harry Potter, they'd easily be able to do it. However, as much as I would have liked to have seen the flashback of Hallowe'en night, 1981, it was very satisfying. And finally, I thought the battle over Little Whinging was great. Hedwig's death was so sad, and how Voldemort just lost it when Harry got away... Lol. |
