Emma [Watson]'s new movie is officially named "Beauty" and Emma is officially listed in the cast. Denise Di Novi is producing through Di Novi Productions. The writer is Vanessa Taylor. Guillermo Del Toro is directing and Warner Brothers is distributing. Summary of the plot is a retelling of "Beauty and the Beast " where a young village beauty is held captive by a prince-turned beast in his impressive castle. The staff has been turned into house ware, they can sing, they can dance, after all this is France.

This is going to be so awesome! Emma will be a perfect Belle! I wonder if this will be shot like Pan's Labyrinth, which is a beautiful film. I would love a dark, gritty retelling of Beauty And The Beast.

I'm so happy and excited for her. She was outstanding in DH, part one especially, and I'm so glad she's getting roles like this.

I read about this yesterday and thought about starting a thread on it,but didn't, because, who knows if it will actually happen? I really hope it does, though, because this Emma Watson starring in a Guillermo Del Toro-produced version of Beauty and the Beast sounds like an absolutely perfect fit.

I have not watched the Disney version, but a dark Del Toro retelling of this story starring Emma Watson does sound exciting. Pan's Labyrinth was an excellent dark fantasy film grounded in reality. Can we expect the same from this one?

I think it could be similar, dark fantasy mixed with the tale of Beauty and the Beast.

This is the first time I hear about this and it sounds amazing, especially with Del Toro directing!
Thanks for sharing!

Del Toro's actually going to be producing, not directing.

Not so keen on another Beauty and the Beast-esq retelling, so I'm hoping they can bring something new to the table on this one!

Interview with Emma Watson confirms her role and production beginning sometime late 2013, and she is in talks with Guillermo Del Toro concerning the role of Beast.
