What is the most popular web development software?

Hi,
Which is the most popular software for web development? Like what big Web development companies use to develop their websites? Dream weaver? I have Visual Stuidio.Net but I feel that building a website using it is very complicated and not user friendly, what do you think? What also your recommendation for basic web development software? I will create only Html files and might embed some flash files inside.

Studio can be pretty daunting to use for the first time - I remember trying Eclipse for the first time when I was learning Java and couldn't get my head around it at all.

I don't see too many websites built in asp.net, probably for the reasons you've stated above. If you just want to build a fairly simple website then I'd just do the html by hand and use CSS to style it.

For web applications on the other hand then VS is absolutely the most popular choice.

I've heard a lot of things about WordPress, Joomla!, and Drupal -- but I'm not sure if that's the type of thing you're looking for.
