The hooting of an owl... general comments

You are still a bit sleepy when you hear your mother shrieking. Is she alarmed or does she sound excited? You don't know. When you come downstairs the first thing you see is... an owl.

The owl has delivered an letter. It's addressed to you... you open it and it reads...

1 set glass or crystal phials

Students may also bring, if they desire, an owl OR a cat OR a toad.

I have Pottermore access. I don't go to the site every day, because it is boring. All I can do is toss a few gnomes and only one or two go over the wall. I can duel, but t do poorly with it and forget potions. Some of the backstory is interesting. I like my wand though, and I like that I am in Hufflepuff, the place for volunteers.

Don't worry about the photo editing thing. Photobucket has editing, for example. And many computers come with editing software such as Paint. :)

I thought I was already in Hogwarts....;) I haven't been on Pottermore in ages, too much RL insanity, but I have access. Very curious as to what this contest is going to be, but really need to emphasize the sheer awfulness of my graphics ability, so I hope there won't be much of that in this contest.

Oh, it's ok, I have Paint and I found an online one that's pretty much photoshop but is, well, online ;) I'm nervous because if you need to have a programme like that, then it's probably going to mean at some point we have to make graphics, which I'm no good at :p

And what happens if you don't have a Pottermore account?

It's not a big deal, but we just want to know what info we can use (when we create tasks etc). You are perfectly fine without it :)

This sounds fun. I have a Pottermore account. So, Microsoft Paint will suffice for Photoshop, even if the most I've done with "editing" photos on there is coloring stuff on top of them?

I've only semi paid attention so I knew a contest was coming, but I didn't see this thread or folder. This seems fun and I'm glad we've got something going. We haven't had a contest in a long while. Missed them, I have. I do have Pottermore access.

I haven't looked at the posts so I don't know if this has been mentioned but if you need or just want a better graphics program than Paint you can download Gimp for free.

Oh my gosh, I almost forgot about this! Good thing my brain decided to remember it at this last second. Fortunately, I have until Tuesday to get something in for the first challenge. Phew. With the Olympics, I haven't really been thinking about much else (including what I'm doing for my birthday tomorrow).

My level of curiosity is currently peaked.
