The First Cut is the Deepest (L/J) *Revised*

Okay, I know I said I was going to wait to re-update this, but I just couldn't! I had too manyidea's about this fic swarming in my head. So, I'll just have to work on both this, and my Happy Ending.

Each part is gonna be in the view of a different person... James,Lily,Sirius, or a new person, Arielle. Okay, then, I'll stop talking and get started.

*This is right after the scene Harry saw during L/J fifth year.

".... You make me SICK!" Lily then stomped away. She knew she shouldn't be so mad, the Snape had probably done something to deserve it, but she just could NOT stand James Potter. He thinks he so cool!, she thought angrily to herself. Why did he even like her... it was so annoying.

Lily's thoughts were interrupted by the fat lady"Password?""Cheering Charm."Lily muttered

"You could use one deary!!" The Fat Lady said to her retreating back."Like I asked for your advice."Lily grumbled.

Lily then walked up to her dorm, lost in angry thoughts about James Potter. Jerk, loser, ego-maniacal git... were a few of the things that crossed her mind.She didn't know how long she sat up there, but suddenly she heard a soft voice saying"Lils, you okay?" It was her best friend at Hogwarts, Arielle.

Had it been anyone else, she probably would have thrown them out. And maybe have thrown a curse their way too. But not Arielle, she had that type of effect on you. If she came to talk to you about something, everyone knew that she would always listen. She was also really sensitive, she could see things about people that others couldn't. She could justify people's actions so easily, especially her friends. She would defend the underdog at any given moment. But she would also be the first to tell you when you were wrong. Although she didn't look it, she had a sharp toungue and smart mouth she wasn't afraid to use. You really didn't want to get on the wrong side of her.

Arielle had medium length, wavy, golden blonde hair, a pale complexion (that never ever tans!!! grrr!) a skinny structure, and deep blue eyes that just seemed to reach into you, and pull out all of your thoughts and fears. She also had pointed ears. You see, Arielle was elvish, the only thing she was self concious about. Some people, like the Slytherins, thought of her the exact same way as they thought of muggleborns.

"Ari..., did I overreact again?"She didn't want to know the answer...but she already knew it.
"Lils, you did what you thought you had to. Everyone has different ways of venting, and yours is to confront the problem. There's no shame in that....BUT, you should've seen the look on Jame's face when you walked off. Priceless Lils, priceless." Came the reply.Thats why she liked Arielle so much, she could tell people the truth, but tell them it so they wouldn't get hurt.
"Come down to lunch Lils, food always makes me feel better. Especially chocolate." Arielle grinned.
"No, thats okay, but could you bring me something up ...please" Lily pretended to pout.
"Sure. And don't give me that pout, I will NOT fall for it.Later Lils!"And with that, Arielle walked out.

No matter what Arielle said, Lily knew she had overreacted. But she couldn't help it. She did like James...a lot. But she couldn't go out with him if he didn't grow up! It would be more like having a babysitting job rather than a boyfriend! But what James didn't know was that everytime he and Lily got in a fight, it really tore her heart to pieces.... but she had grown used to it. After all, evryone knows that the first cut is the deepest.....

Okay, now to update, revise, and completely make better the other twenty one posts. :huh: Geesh.....I've got some typing to do. Better get some soda.

I'm gonna try to post a little more in a bit.

Arielle walked out of the Common Room in deep thought. She knew Lily liked James, but also knew he had to mature before Lily would even consider goin out with him....Maybe if only someone could tell him to stop showing off in front of her? She thought to herself. I mean, he doesn't act like that when she isn't around, he can actually be civil, and who knows? maybe he'll listen, I mean, if it *SMACK*

She had walked right into Severus Snape, a stupid Slytherin. Although she had never done anything to him, he still treated her like dirt, probably because of her backround... but still, it does kind of get on your nerves to be called stupid when you have knowledge about nature that a git like Snape only wishes he had.

"Half- breed." Snape sneered at her, as though she were nothing more than a speck of dirt on his boot. Which just went to show how ignorant he was, because she was not a half breed, she was full elvish. She had just had wizarding magic in her is all.

"Snivellus, how...nice(very hard to say lol) to see you....and I suppose you got your order in today then?"She smiled to herself, knowing only too well he had no clue what he was talking about.

"What order?"

"Why, your order of grease. You mean you don't put it in? It's there naturally?My gosh, I never would've imagined."She stalked off before Snape could even figure out that she was insulting him.

She looked around the Gryffindor table, trying to find a place to sit. Sure, she was well liked, but every now and then Arielle did want to have a conversation with someone with an IQ of more than 80.

"Ari, over here!" She heard behind her. Of course, it was the Marauders. James would be quizzing her on Lily, naturally, while the rest just did there thing. She walked over to them. I need a good laugh anyway, she thought to herself.

"Hello boys."She greeted them in her usual way.

James retorted "You know, that gets very frustrating, we're 15 for goodness sakes, we're not boys! Look at us!"

"James, I was talking about your mental capacity, not you physical one."

"So, how are you doing today, Ari?" Sirius spoke up, surprising her.

"Pretty good, actually. I ahd a run in with Snape. He's probably still trying to work out what I said to him. Poor idiot." She added with a laugh.

"Why? What'd he say?" Sirius asked, a little too hurridly.

"Oh, the usual. Half breed, blah blah blah, stupid half breed, blah blah blah, oh, and did I mention, half breed?" She asked grinning. Everyone started laughin. Everyone, except Sirius.

"Snape really needs to learn some manners. I could get him for you Ari, if you want. That was a really mean thing to say." Arielle had never seen him be so....protective over someone. She smiled.

"Thats really sweet of you Sirius, but it's okay. I can take care of him myself. And it doesn't really bother me...I'm not really a half breed you know" She pointed out.

"But still!"

"Hey, Ari, hows Lily doing? Is she upset at all that she yelled at me?" James asked hopefully.

Arielle sighed "James, thats the exact reason why she yelled at you in the first place. You always show off in front of her. Treat her like a person, not a goddess. Trust me, I think she'd appreciate it a little more."

"No, she yelled at me for picking on old Snivelly." James defended himself.

"James, did you even hear what she said? It wasn't so much that you cursed him, but why you did it, just because he was there, and because you had nothing better to do." Arielle glanced momentarily at Sirius. Was he looking ashamed? No way!

"Well, I would love to stay and chat, but I promised Lils I'd take her some food to eat."

"Why didn't she come down herself huh? To afraid she'd crack and apologize eh?" James said cockily.

"More like you'd get on her already shocked nerves, and she crack your neck."Arielle replied swiftly. At this, everyone in the area laughed, even James.

"Well, bye James, Remus, Peter (who winced)...Sirius"She smiled. He smiled back. Wow, Sirius has a really nice smile, Arielle thought. Waht am I saying? She quickly wrapped up somemuffins to take to her and headed to Gryffindor Tower.


Muahahahaha....I shall soon re-conquer this story, and make it less bleh. Will someone tell me if it always sounded this poorly written? :)

I'm gonna try to post tomorrow....remamber, i need 2-3 gryffindor girls to be Ari and Lily's friends.

*Has been updated* and will now be less, well, less all around stupid and horrible and bad.

Sirius watched Ari traipse out of the hall. How could she be so easygoing about what Snape says to her?? But that was the least of his worries... Why did he care? He had tried to make it seem like he had just been looking for an excuse to curse Snape, but he knew she didn't buy it. **** womens intuition!

"Sirius?! Come back to us mate!"Sirius snapped back to reality and looked over to where James was laughing.

"And what, may I ask, is so funny?" Sirius said in a very dignified voice.

"Nothing besides the fact that you were staring after Levison like a lovesick puppy"James said smiling.

"You mean kind of like how you stare at Evans? No, I can't look that dorky."Sirius said smirking. That wiped the grin off James face. Good, he deserves it, I need some time to think. Is that so weird?

"I think you've left James speechless for once Sirius. Congratulations!" Remus gave Sirius a high five.

"Hey, where's Peter?" James asked, changing a very embarrassing subject (for him anyway!)

"I dunno...Oi! There he is!" Sirius said with a triumphant voice." Peter, over here!"

"I-is she g-gone?" Peter asked fearfully.

"No, she's right behind you, preparing to turn you into a frog" James said sarcastically. Peter let out a little squeak of terror.

"It was a joke Peter. Anyway, I don't know why you're always so scared of Arielle and Evans...they wouldn't curse you."Sirius said as though they'd been over this a million time, which probably wasn't far from the truth.

"How do you know? They can even get you and James, and you guys are the top students! They'd have no trouble cursing someone like me!" Peter whined.

Finally, Remus got tired of this ongoing saga and jumped in, "Thats exactly why they wouldn't, Pete. Lily and Arielle would never curse anyone who was way too weaker than them, or anyone who didn't deserve it."

"Lets just stop talking about Ari and Lily. It's giving me migraines!" James complained.

"Okay, what do you think our chances in the Quidditch game are?"Sirius asked Sirius and James were both on the Quidditch team, Sirius a beater, James a chaser.

"Well, I think they're pretty good, considering the Hufflepuff....." The boys then got into a long winded disscussion filled with ummms, slurs, grunts, and a lot of other stuff that I won't post, because it would take me forever to translate everything they said into English lol.

Can't write much. Keyboard isn't working. I'll try to write in a bit.

A week later, Gryffindors were having Charms class. They were tring to make their frogs to tap dance and sing. Lily and Arielle were in a group with two of their roommates, Alice Smith(or Longbottom, whichever) and Sasha Bell.

Alice had a plump face with bright blond straight hair that went down to her shoulders. She had two different colored eyes, right one green, left one blue. She was a chaser on the house team, and although she didn't look it, she was quite the flyer. Alice had a good sense of humor, and the patience of a saint.She was a very good student, but not as good the other 3. She had a tendency to speak before she thought, which often resulted in a fight with one of her friends, usually Arielle(a/n:yes, I'm the one who takes things her friends say too seriously).
Sasha had light brown, almond shaped eyes, fair skin, and a small mouth that naturally smiled. She had Straight hair, that was a very dark brow, but not quite black, tht went to the middle of her back. If one paid close enough attenion to her, like her friends did, they would notice that when she gets angry, it turns wavy. Sasha was very shy around ppl who she didn't know well. She was also a top student like Lily and Arielle. She was Lily's friend, but not a lot of other poeple's because she was so shy, so she was pretty lonely most of the time. She was very loyal and funny to her friends tho.

Lily was tryin to make talk between the three friends, and it wasn't going to well. Arielle and Alice had just gotten into a row the other day. Alice had said Arielle would've gotten mad at her if she called Arielle a half breed, but not Snape. Arielle had replied that just becuse she didn't blow up like some people she could mention, doesn't mean it didn't hurt, and that she would get mad at Alice because she expected that from her enemies, but not her friend. Both then stomed off, leaving Lily and Sasha in their dorm, with Lily feeling that it was a very stupid thing for Arielle to get mad over, but a very dumb thing of Alice to say. Sasha, on the other hand, knew neither Arielle or Alice that well, so she only talked when someone was talking to her. As far as Lily was concerned, the only success in class that day was that all four of them had been able to charm their frogs properly.

Later that evening, Lily wandered over to where Sasha was reading a book. Lily had grown tied of watching Sirius, Remus, James and Arielle play Exploding Snap, and Alice was off somewhere with her new boyfriend, Frank Longbottom.

"Hey Sasha, anyone sittin here?" Lily asked picking up a book, A Revised Edition of Hogwarts, A History .

"You are now, I guess, huh?" Sasha said smiling.

"Yup." Lily said simply."So, charms was kind of fun today, huh?"

"I suppose. I don't think you other friends like me too much though. Especially Alice." Sasha looked very doubful.

"Oh, they just don't know you is all. And Alice is just a little rough aound the edges. Arielle is still angry about what Alice said to her. She told me that it wasn't what she said, but what she implied. Something like that Arielle is too touchy. So, it wasn't you, they were just royally ticked all day. Trust me, I sit with them at lunch" Lily laughed.

"Ok, Lils, if you're sure."

"I'm positive. Wanna go watch Arielle lose at Exploding Snap for about the 700th time, Sirius pity her and let her beat him for about the 20th time, and Potter ask me out for the....I lost count at 1472 at the beginning of this year.."Lily trailed off.

"Sure. But you know, you're the only girl I've evr known to keep track of how many times a guy who she absolutely despises asks her out." Sasha said sarcastically.

"Oh shush!"Lily whispered as she started to blush. Sasha laughed and got up. As they both walked toward th game, they heard Arielle's voice exclaimed "Ohh, I lost again!"

"One out of three" Lily wispered to Sasha as they sat down. After a few minutes, James got tired of the gme, and sat down next to Lily and put his arm aroud her waist.

"So, Evans, whatcha doin Saturday night?" James asked slyly.

"Nothing that involves you, Potter" Lily said sweetly, pushin him off the couch.

"Two out of three"Sasha said in a hushed tone. Then they started talking about the next visit to Hogsmeade, and what they needed to pick up, when all of a sudden they heard...

"YES!!! I beat you Sirius! I BEAT YOU!!!! YAY!!!" Arielle squeaked in delight.

"Three for three. I'm not bad huh?"Lily said giggling.

"You could probably take over for Trelawny"Sasha said laughing(a/n not the same one as Harry's, but her great great grandmother or whatever who was a seer)

"Yes, thats certainly my life's ambition, to be a divination teacher!" Lily said sarcastically.

So they sat there, and laughed and talked like there wasn't a care in the world. Well, they wre partly right. Because as of now, nothing extremely bad was happening in their world.........

Ohhh, cliffhanger. Even if it is a bad one. I'd greatly appreciate feedback, and I'm sorry if there are a lot of typos. Stupis malfunctioning cpu! :grumble:

A young man with gleaming blonde hair stode down the dirt path, and to anyone who knew him, it was obvious he was worried. The usual smile on his facc wasn't there, and the usual song coming from his mouth was absent as well. He had a bow clutched in his hands, and a quiver full of arrows on his back.(a/n any guesses who?) He seemed to finally reach his destination, as he approached an older man with dark brown hair, and age in his face, as though he had seen a lot in his lifetime, and had aquired a lot of wisdom from it.

"Have you heard? The dark forces in the wizarding world are growing stronger. It is almost certainly comfirming our fears, Voldemort will look to recruit us....or kill us."The blonde haire man said gravely.

The dark haired man sighed"Yes, I have seen it. The Lady of the Forest has seen it as well. But I do hope that Arielle is okay. She is in their world, and in more danger than us."(a/n i would call "the lady" something else but I don't wanna give it away)

"Do you think we did the right thing, sending her to Hogwarts?"

"I am sure of it. Albus is my friend, he would guard her with his life. He would guard any of them with his life."

"But Albus cannot be there the whole time, as you hae said before."

"I know what is best for my daughter, L--"He was cut of by the blonde.(thought i would give it away?)

"I know! But she is one of my best friends, and like a..... sister to me. I couldn't bear to lose her, just as you couldn't.But the animals are growing restless. They sense the danger, the doom. What are we going to do?"

"We will do what we always have, fight to the death, if we must."With that, the dark hair man walked way,leavin the younger one there with a mixed concern of worry and acceptance written on his face.

"Oh, I can't wait for the dance!!!"Arielle exclaimed happily. "How about you guys?"

"I can't wait to see Frank. Oh, Ari, those dress robes match your eyes wonderfully!" Alice exclaimed. Although they had made up, Arielle and Alice were still on shaky ground, and were doing everything possible to prevent another row, to which Lily and Sasha were very thankful for.

The girls had spent all day getting ready for the ball. Lily had deep forest green robes that brought out her eyes, and green high heel that had been "enhanced" with a comfort charm. She had been asked to the ball by a fellow 5 year,a Ravenclaw named Gregory Lovegood. He had a really good sense of humor, and could tell wondeful stories about things like Crumple-Honed Snorklinks or whatever. Arielle had baby blue robes that she had charmed to sparkle, and was wearing blue clogs. She and Sirius were going as fiend, since thy had both turned down everyone else who asked them. Sasha was wearing deep purple robes with matching flats, tht both had been chramed to give off the aroma of fresh violets. The others had asked her the spell to do it, but she wouldn't tell anyone, so they had to put their perfume on the old fashioned way. Sasha was going with Remus Lupin, who had asked her as soon as they hard about the ball. Alice was wearing silver robes, and matchin boots, which she had put an anti-trip spell on. She, of course, was going with Frank Longbottom.

So, as they scurried to make last minute adjustments, they walked downstairs, to recieve many whistles and cat-clls from a LOT of the guys.

"Thats my girl your whistling at, mister!" Frank said dangerously to a guy next to him.

"Hey, this on is mine tonight guys, stay off!" Sirius warned as Arielle walked over to him.

"As is she!" Remus said blushing.

"You girls look smashing!" They all said at once.

"Did you rehearse that or something?" Sasha asked while the others blushed.

"Just for you girls."Frank answered.

"So, if we came down looking horrible, what would you say then?" Arielle asked teasingly.

"Impossible." Sirius whispered in her ear, causing her to blush.

Lily felt left out at this point, so she said " I'll meet ya guys down thre, kay?"

"Okay, Lily, but we all need to get a table together!!" Alice reminded her.

"Yeah, James left a few minutes ago to go get his Hufflepuff." Remus said."And Peter said he was going to check out the snack table."

"Okay, then, let's go." Sirius said, and with that, he dragged Arielle out of the common room.

They all followed, and when they entered the hall, and started dancing.....

As they all entered the Great Hall,it was hardly recognizable. In one corner of the room, there were about 100 cicular tables that seated 10 each. In another corner was the buffet table, which only had snack foods, you ordered you food food. In another corner, there were a bunch of couches and chairs to rest in, an right in the middle of everything was the dance floor. The ceiling was sparkling with stars, and little faeries were floating about, showering confetti on people randomly.

"Wow, they really made it look nice, huh?"Sasha asked as Remus led her onto the dance floor.

"Yup, they really did!"Alice said as she and Frank went to sit down.

"So, what do you wanna do, dance, or sit?" Arielle asked cheerfully.

"Oh, whichever one you want to do." Sirius said sweetly.

Awww, he's so sweet, Arielle thought to herself What?!? No way! Okay, I do NOT have a cush on him! Nooooooo!! He's nothing but Marauder....umm....just no!

"Ummm, why don't we dance first, then sit, then we can find Lily and everyone else?" Arielle suggested.

"Okay, that'd be cool."Sirius flashed her a smile.

Theres that cute smile again.....NO! I refuse to think of him like that! Arielle thought angrily, Never!

~Sirius' thoughts~
"Ummm, why don't we dance first, then sit, then we can find Lily and evryone else?" Arielle suggested.

Wow, shes cute when she isn't all mean, and she isn't even mean to us that much....NO! there is no way I'm getting attatched to someone like her. It's just not my style. And besides, women at this age are like loose cannons anyway, what with, well, yeah. Sirius thought.

So Sirius and Arielle went out on the dance floor. Both were surprised at how good the other was.

"Wow, Sirius, I didn't know you were good at dancing!"Arielle exclaimed as they went to sit down.

"Well, you would be too, if you took ballet." Sirius said without thinking. Realizing what he said, he quickly covered his mouth.

"Sirius, you take ballet?" Arielle asked

"Yes?" Sirius asked, fearing for the worst

"Well, I can understand why you wouldn't want anyone to find out. But, I mean, come on, dancing really builds up muscle, and that has to help you with Quidditch, right?" Arielle reasoned, trying to make Sirius feel less embarassed. "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone, if you don't want me to."

"Thanks. It does help a lot with flexibility and stuff. And yeah, please don't tell anyone, Jamesy would never let me live it down." Sirius said gratefully. She's a lot more logical than most people, even if she was only saying it to make me feel better.

Arielle, at the same time, was thinking, Wow, he's a lot more down to earth than I thought. Now I feel kind of bad for always jusging him. He isn't so bad, he just acts like a git to protect himself, so he dosn't get hurt, or embarassed.

They reached a comfy looking couch and sat down, and continued chatting about themselves.

*Still out on the dancfloor*

Lily was in despair. Greg was nice, but he had two left feet, and her feet had been stepped on at last 5 times.

All of a sudden, she herd a voice say "May I cut in?" and Greg reply "I guess."

Lily looked up to see none other than James Potter staring back at her. Before she could reject, he already had a hold of her, and was dancing.

"Potter, what are you doin here. Wheres your date?" Lily asked curiously.

"Well, my date deserted me, and I'm over here because even though Lovegood can't see it, I bet everyone in this hall has seen you wince in pain at least once"James replied.

"Oh, well, that was nice of you." Lily replied hesitantly. And why aren't I ripping into Potter right now? Lily thought. It must just be because my feet are too sore, I'm too mkuch in pain to yell at him now, she reasoned with herself.

*And still elsewhere*

Peter scowled at them from the snack table. So sure of themselves. They thought they were so high and mighty. He would show them. Someday, he would be above all of them. Then they would see. Sure, he was their friends, but look at how they treated him. Like dirt. Like a clown. Like he didn't even matter. Thats what drove him to join the Dark forces long ago. Potter, strutting around school like he owned the place. Evans, little miss perfect. What did James see in her?? Just a mudblood. Thats all she was. A stick in the mud. And Sirius, the blood traitor! Couldn't he see how much he had? A pure family, good beliefs, and he threw it away! And now he's letting him gt caught up in her sort. Her. Peter hated her. Everything from her blonde hair to her pointed ears to her feet. She was just abnormal. A freak. Even by wizarding standards. She didn't belong at Hogwarts, she belonged in her world. But Peter knew that her type were an important factor in the Dark Lords plans. He shuddered. It would be better to destoy them all. He had read about elves. So fickle. Too in tune with nature. As far as he was concerned, they could turn on you any minute. And then there was Remus. If only he didn't associate with such people, he would't have to get hurt. Then Sasha. Peter didn't really know her, but knew she hung out with Evans. Well, if you hang around with a mudblood, you are as bad as one.
Peter than wished, for the millionth time, that he didn't have to hurt his friends like this. But they needed to learn.They needed to be taught a lesson.They needed to be.....punished .

Hey everyone!!! Sory I haven't updated in a while.....been busy with school. Okay, I'll get goin! Kinda a boring chappie here, it'll get better! promise!

****Hold on, if you feel like lettin go****

Lily, Sasha, and Arielle were sitting in their dorm, just wallowing in each others pity. It had been 3 days since the ball, and there were 2 weeks left of school left. All in all, each girl was pondering what had happened at the ball, and completely oblivious to the super sunny day outside.

Lily had absolutely no idea what had changed her feelings about James. One minute, she hates his guts, and all is right in the world. The next, she's letting him dance with her, and he still hasn't been seen in th hospital wing. And the worst thin is, he hadn;t looked at her since. Was this some kind of punishment from God??? Now that she finally liked him, or at least didn't hate him, he would be taken away from her?? She did have to admit, James, on occasion, could be charming, and funny, and sentimental. Argh, there I go, listing his good qualities! I can't like him, I can't!

Caitlin, on the other hand, wasn't confused, she was angry. Remus spent all the time of the dance telling her how cool, awesome, sweet, and funny she was, then, the next day, pretends that she doesn't even exist!!! The nerve of him! But what hurt her most of all, was that she let him do it...she let him break though to her.She should've known he would do something like this. He was a MARAUDER, for goodness sakes! The name just SCREAMS player...but she had thought that Remus had had more sense. That he had more depth to him. That beneath that show that all the marauders put on for people, he really was a caring person...too bad it was all a lie, she thought to herself.

Arielle, well, neither Lily or Sasha even looked at her, because she was sooooo angry. At Sirius. At life. At herself. And she was also very sad and confused, and all of these things do NOT make a pleasant Arielle to talk to. She had thought, for one brief and shining moment, that she and Sirius had something. A bond. A special connection. How could she have been so stupid. Sirius, the biggest player in the school, fall for her? What a joke. The day after the dance, when she had said hi to him, his reply was "Oh, hey Levison." Levison?!?!? What the he-double hocky sticks was that about. But most of all, she was angry with herself. For letting her do the one thing, the one thing in the entire wold, that she had pomised herself since the first day at Hogwarts that she would never, ever do. She had cried....over a guy. 'I'm sooo stupid, why couldn't I have seen this coming? He probably thinks I'm a freak. He probably only asked me because he felt bad for me. Heck, I could've even been the victim of one of his and James' stupid bets! Me, a bet! I should throttle him! 'Arielle thought wildly.

So, here were our three comrads, thinking that the guys they liked had absolutely no feelings for them at all. Well, on one of these rare occasions, their friends would later say, it was a good thing they were wrong.

Kay, now lets look at what the guys are feeling..hee hee, I already know.

*****Hold on*****

While the girls were moping up in their dorms, the guys decided to choose a more...public place to think over their problems...

James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter all sat in an uncomfortable silence. Sure they would have had their usual fan clubs about them, had it not been for Sirius shooing them away...

James was feeling mixed emotions. Firstly, he was happy, because he had finally gotten through to Lily. It was what he always wanted. Even if she only considered him a friend, it would be enough. But another part of him was..well..scared. There was no other word for it. He knew in his heart that he loved Lily, but was afraid to get in a relationship with her, because he knew he would mess up. And if he messed up really badly...she might leave him. Then that would be it. He would be done. Over. His world would come crashing down...permanantly. So, he did wht he always did when he had a problem...avoided it. When your in Quidditch, and a bludger comes your way, you don't go and face it...you fly away...Too bad James didn't know that girls were a little more complex than bludgers.

Remus was scared. Nothing left to say. He had nevre felt the kind of connection with anyone like he did with Sasha. But he was scared. Becuse he knew, that if he did get hooked up with her...that sooner or later, she would find out his secret. He was lucky enough for his friends to be understanding, and he was not going to press his luck again. He would love to give her a chance, but in the end, she woul get hurt. So, he distanced himself from her. As hard as it was for him, he didn't want her to get attatched....because he knew what her reaction would be...well, at least he though he did.

Sirius didn't know what he was doing...he knew he liked Ari....and he wanted to be with her. But he knew, somewhere in his head, that he would mess up. He had never been in long term relationship before....and he knew he wouldn't be able to help it. And then Arielle....she would be crushed. And then he would lose her. So he thought it was better to stay on a last name basis with her. That day, when he called her by her last name...he could see how much it hurt her. It hurt him too. A lot. But he knew that she would eventually be hurt more if he went out with her, and so would he. He knew he was taking the easy way out. But it was for the better. For everyone...At least, thats what he liked to tell himself.

****In the dorms****

Arielle had made up her mind. No more moping around. She was going to take control of her life again. And nothing, not even Sirius effin' Black, was going to stop her.

"Come on you guys! Get up! If they want to ignore us, thats fine. But lets make sure thy know what they're missing! Come on Lils! Up, up, get up Sasha! Go get showered and whatever, and meet me back here in 30 minutes. MARCH!" Arielle exclaimed.

And they did.

"See, this is a good idea."Arielle said confidently.

"You are a control freak, ya know that?" Sasha asked.

"Yes, but if I wasn't, we would still be up there, so don't worry, be happy!"Arielle said in a singsong voice. She was feeling much better already. Maybe the sun has a positive effcet on people, she thought.

"And that why we love you soooo much!" Lily said sarcastically, as they walked to their tree on the grounds. She looked around, and she noticed the the Maruaders-Peter were staring at them.

"I know!!!! I feel soooo loved!! As I should!" Arielle squeaked in delight.Sasha and Lily laughed as they sat down.

****Over at the other tree****

James was the first to see them. Of course, he always was. He nudged Sirius, and pointed with his head towards them. Sirius did the same with Remus. As they walked past, they heard a snatch of their convo:

"And that why we love you soooo much!"Lily said sarcastically.

"I know!!!! I feel soooo loved!! As I should!!"Arielle squeaked in delight.Sasha and Lily laughed as they sat down.

James sighed. He loved Lils laugh.
Sirius did the same.
And so did Remus.

****At the other other tree****

Lily, Arielle, and Sasha stopped talking. They looked at each other.

"Do you think they heard us?" Sasha asked nervously.

"I'm almost positive!"Arielle whispered.

"Yeah, they always eavesdrop."Lily added.

Just then, Alice walked over to them.

"So, you finally decided to come out of your den, then?"Alice asked. She had been pretty upset that none of her friends wanted to go outside.

"Well, apparently, duh."Arielle replied. She was getting pretty tired of Alice's oh-you-guys-are-being-babies act. Wasn't it her, who in 4h year, was sooo upset that Frank wasn't giving her the time of day?

"Okay, you don't have to get so snippy. Gosh, I never thought you three would act like lovesick puppies." Alice said sharply.

"Shut up Alice. You're not being funny." Lily said.

"And why should I? Serves you guys right, thinking you could get any guys you want. Well, you can't, and--"

SMACK! Arielle was on her feet, and she was p.o.ed! Now, there was a red handprint across Alice's face. Everyone heard it, and everyone was staring at her. Arielle, no one ever thought she would smack someone. But most people knew how mean Alice could be, and was happy to see her put in her place.

Arielle was furious. She whispered, in a penetratingly cold voice, "Alice, shut it. You know, as well as I do, that none of us ever thought that. I don't know exactly what has been your problem lately, but so help me God, if you ever, ever, talk about my friends like that again, rest assure you will get more that a slap in the face. Now, why don't you and your tacky boots go and take a long walk on a short pier."Arielle finished and sat down. Everyone was looking at her in amazement. Alice opened her mouth, closed it, and walked off. Everyone was still staring....

"What are you people looking at, the show's over!"Sasha stood up and yelled. Everyone turned away. Everyone, that is, except James, Sirius, and Remus. (Nosy prats!)

Sirius could not believe what he had just seen, and heard. Arielle, he could not believe it. Woah! As he watched, Arielle muttered something to her friends, got up, and left.

"I'll be back in a minute, guys" Sirius got up and went after her.

Sasha and Lily watched him go."I hope they work everything out."Sasha said.

"Me too. Don't look now, but guess who's walking over here."Lily whispered, just a few seconds before they sat down.

"Hey, guys, what was that about?" Remus asked as they sat down.

"Yeah, Ari, lose her cool, never thought I'd see the day."James said grinning

"Alice was just being he usual self, and Ari got tired of it, so...yeah."Sasha said quietly.

"Well, what'd she say?"James asked.

"That, Potter, is none of your business. Plus, it's not my place to tell you"Lily said, sighing.

"I hope Sirius cheers her up."Sasha said

"Don't worry, he will. If he has any sense, that is." Remus said reassuringly.

****Elsewhere****

Arielle had no clue where she was going. She didn't care. Finally, she went up to the Owlery. It was almost time for lunch, no one would be there now.

When she got there, she sat against the wall and sighed. So many thoughts raced through her head.Why had Alice said that? Why had it made her so mad? And Sirius, what did he think of her? Sirius, he was most confusing of all.

"What did I do?"Arielle asked herself.

"I think a lot of us would like to know that."A voice behind her said. It was Sirius. Great. Just what she needed.

"Gee, to what do I owe this great honor?" Arielle asked, venomous sarcasm dripping off every word.

"That hurts Ari." Sirius smiled.

"Don't smile at me Black!" Arielle said shrilly. Didn't he get it?

"I'm sorry." Sirius said, hanging his head.

"I said don't-what did you say?" Arielle said suspiciously.

"I said I'm sorry. Ari, I really like you. But I've nevre had a serious relationship before. And I don't want to mess it up, because I don't want to take the chance of losing you, and--"

Arielle had walked over to Sirius. They were barely an inch from each other. All of a sudden, they were kissing. Arielle didn't even know how it had happened, just the it was wonderful. 'No, I'm s'posed to be angry with him' A voice in the back of her head said, but she didn't care. Her senses finally came to her, and she pulled away, her mouth open in suprise. She gave him one last fleeting look, and tore away. Sirus stood frozen there.

"Idiot! Why didn't you go after her?"He kept asking himself this. He had searched the whole castle for her. He couldn't find her. He knew where she was. Up in her dorm. **** those slides!

He eventually gave up, and headed back up to his dorm. On his bed, he found a note that said:

Arielle flopped down on her bed. Wow, she had never run so fast. She laughed to herself, not a funny kind of laugh though, a depressed laugh,filled with sorrow. Now, she was sure Sirius hated her. She should have never kissed him. Sasha was right, she was a total control freak.....and that was not a good thing to be.....oh well, she would just have to deal with it. She had left a note on Sirius' bed, and it was true. If he didn't feel like dating her because he didn't like her that way, that was fine. But to not date her because he didn't want to lose her....that was soooo...akward. It was sweet, but at the same time, totally selfish. She sighed......why was it, when you finally thought you had something figured out, something else comes along and leaves you more confused than you were to begin with?

<><><><>Now, the L/J action!!!<><><><>

Remus, Sasha, James, and Lily walked up to the castle in an awkward silence. No one eally knew what to say. Finally, Remus spoke up.

"Soooo, whats new with you girls?"Remus asked tenatively.

"Well, you would know, if you had even bothered to acknowledge our presence for the past three days, now wouldn't you?" Sasha asked in a very angry, but still sweet, voice.

"Ummm, about that, can I talk to you for a minute? Alone?"Remus asked pleadingly. Sasha nodded, and walked ahead into the castle with him.

"Looks like love is in the air, eh Evans?" James said joking.

"Yep, sure does." Lily answered, her heart pounding. She was alone. With James. Her.Alone.With.JAMES!!! Eep!!!!

"So, yeah, umm, I suppose your mad for us not talking to you guy at all either, huh?" James asked, fearing for the worst.

"Yes, but not so much as Ari or Sasha."Lily said a little too cooly for James' liking.

"Why weren't you?"James wondered.

"Because James, both Sirius and Remus had given both of them signs that they liked them, you know, liked them. So, a girl is naturally going to get upset when the guys who's been sending her signs just stops, especially when she's starting to feel the same way."Lily answered calmly.

"Oh" was Jame's soft reply.

"Well, we're here, so goodnight James."Lily said yawning.

"Night Lils" James answered.

As Lily was climbing the stairs, she thought of something that made her stop dead in her tracks. She had called James, well, James. Not once, but twice. In one night. What was up with that? Even though Lily didn't know, she hadn't been the only one to notice. James was, at that moment, climbing into bed, a huge smile on his face.

Had Lily been a little more observant, or maybe she was just a little preoccupied, she would've noticed that only 2 of the beds were filled, not countin hers(there are only 4 girls in their dorm). Lily soon drifted off to sleep, but was soon awakened by Sasha, out of breath and red in the face, shaking her awake.

"Lily, get up, now!!! I need to tell you something!!!! You too Arielle!!! Not you, Alice, go back to bed! No one wants to talk to you!" Sasha said very loudly. Lily and Arielle satup drowsily.

"Yes?" Lily asked a little grumpily.

"MMphmf?" Arielle asked. Although she seemed well put together, Arielle couldn't even string 2 words together when she first wakes up.

"He asked me out!!! Remus Lupin asked me out!!!" Sasha exclaimed quietly. Happily, of couse, but quietly.

"What?" Arielle asked, suddenly alert."Thats awesome Sasha!!! Yuo two are really meant for each other!!!!"

"You really think so?" Sasha asked, her face shining.

"Definately. Nwo let's sleep, and you can tell us about it tomorrow." Lily said, and with that, flopped back down on her bed. Arielle followed, and Sasha soon thereafter.

"Wake uppppppp!" Sasha exclaimed irritably."I've been trying to wake you up forever and it's gettin annoying!!!! Arielle, will she ever wake up?"

Arielle shook her head "I'm not thinking so. But, we could, errrr...speeden up the process, if you want? Well, I know that you have to get down to breakfast to see your dear Remmy." Arielle started giggling.

"So what??? Is that so wrong??" Sasha asked, blushing furiously.

Arielle composed herself "Nah, it isn't. You go down to breakfast, I'll wake Lils up."

"Thanks, Ari. Don't try too hard though!" Sasha called over her shoulder as she walked out the door.

Arielle sighed. It was so obvious,to her anyway, that Remus and Sasha were meant for each other. Everyone could see it, and Arielle was really happy for Sasha. I mean, Remus was a nice enough guy, and they had a lot of the same interests, so... they were made for each other.

"LILY!!!! James is here, and your wearing...uhh....nothing!!!" Arielle thought off the top of her head.

"WHAT?!?!!?!" The fully clothed Lily shrieked as she sat up, looking around wildly.

"Sorry, darling, had to get ya up somehow, now didn't I?" Arielle said,smirking.

"Why, you little..."Lily started, but then she looked at the clock."Omgsh, if I don;'t get ready soon, we'll be late!"

"Lils, chill, we have an hour till class. Get ready fast and we'll have at least a half an hour to eat....hurry!" Arielle said.

Fifteen minutes later, Sirius looked up as the whole hall got silent. Of course he knew why. Arielle and Lily walked in. It happend every day, the girls looking at what they wanted to be, th guys looking at what they wanted to have. The guys used to look at Sasha like that too, until Remmy had a private word with a few of them.
Lily, Arielle, and Sasha didn't really know why people always stared at them. But it was obvious to everyone else. They were considered Hogwarts "Elite" to most people. They were everything that someone should aspire to be. Smart, talented, pretty, kind, ect. They were basically untouchable. Someone had a problem with them, they had a problem with the whole school.
Lily was the level headed one. She had the kind, gracious look about her. If someone was in trouble, Lily would help them. She had wonderful green eyes, that could seem to light on fire if she was angry, or sparkle like emeralds when she was happy. Lily was a very generous person. If you needed help, she would be there asap. All in all, Lily was definately, to most, what a person should always try to be.
Sasha, Sirius didn't know very well, but knew she was an awesome person. She was the peacemaker. If someone got in a fight, she would be there, telling them they shouldn't waste their friendship over something so silly. She had dark brown eyes, that seemed to just cheer someone up when they looked at her. Sasha always looked on the bright side of things, even when there seemed to be no hope. She could never stay mad at someone, and often made peace between some of her more stubborn friends. To people, Sasha was like an angel. Honest, innocent, and pure.
Arielle could be considered the wild one of the group. She was definately the most outgoing. She was nice to everyone, and loved to socialize. Although she didn't look it, she was very understanding. She could accept people faults, and learn to live with them. She had dark blue eyes,and when she looked at you, she seemed to reach into you, and understand your feelings. She was always there to listen, but would tell you out and out if you were wrong. It wasn't wise to cross her though. She had a very long memory, and was a very vengeful person. To most people, Arielle was great. She could be a little mean sometimes, but other than that, she had every quality you could want....
Together, they made up the Hogwarts "Elite". They didn't like to be called it, they said it steryotyped others, but they themselves knew it was true, and had even joked about it.

"Do they always have to stare like this?"Lily asked when they sat down.

"Why shouldn't they Lils? You are, after all, the "Elite""James teased.

"Oh, shut it Jamsie. I can't handle it this morning, so lay off, kay?"Arielle asked wearily.

Just then, an evil Hufflepuff named Vicki, came up to Sirius.

"Sirius, did you know there's a Hogsmeade trip this weekend?" She asked in a sickeningly sweet voice. "And, well, I was wondering if you would like to go with me, and just, well...hang out."

Everyone looked at Sirius. James knew what had happened with Arielle, and he hoped Sirius didn't blow it.

"Ummm, sure, Vicki.....I guess." Sirius said. veryone sat there shocked. James was angry, as was Lily, Sasha, and Remus. Arielle was too, and could feel tears welling up inside her. Instead of showing emotion, she.......

Halfway there, I think.

Instead of letting her emotions show, she yawned. Arielle didn't know why, but yawning, to her anyway, was a grand way to let your emotions out, and without anyone knowing. It just seemed to empty everything out of you. She absolutely loved it. And if you were angry, it also doubled as showing indifferance. Lily and Sasha knew, though, that Arielle did this, but decided to help her.

"Tired Ari?" Lily asked. At once, Arielle knew what she was doing,and she was grateful for it.

"Yea, a little. Stayed up to try and do the Transfiguration Essay, and I still didn't get it done!" Arielle exclaimed. In truth, she had finished the essay the day before yesterday.

"Oh, then you can use mine." Sasha said, trying to think of a way to get Arielle away from the guys."We still have uhhh, 45 min. That should be enough time. Come on, I'll go get it." With that, Lily, Arielle, and Sasha left.

As soon as James was sure they were out of earshot, he rounded on Sirius.

"What did you do?" James asked angrily.

"What are you talking about?" Sirius said cooly.

"In case your too thick to notice, you just about ripped the poor girls heart out!" James hissed.

"James, you don't know that, and besides, I've already told you why I can't date her, and if thats what has to be done, then-" Sirius was cut off.

"Then you don't deserve her Sirius. And you know, I'm not even sure if you do anymore" Remus said, surprising everyone. And with that, he and James got up, and walked out of the hall.

"Maybe your right."And Sirius continued eating. But in truth, Arielle's heart wasn't the only one that had been ripped out.

"You okay Ari?" Sasha asked as they walked out of the hall.

"Course I am."Arielle said, but her miserable tone gave her away.

"I can't belive he did that. It was just....unbelievable!!!! The absolute nerve of him! I feel like going back in there and hexing him right now!" Lily said angrily.

"Had to restrain myself not to do that as well, Evans."James voice said behind her. "You alright, Ari? Don't worry about him, he's being a stubborn prat."

"And if he can't se you two belong together, than he's even dumber than anyone could have thought possible!" Remus said. Everyone laughed, although Sasha was the only one to notice that Arielle's wasn't entirely "there".

Sasha pulled Arielle aside "Listen Ari you're a great girl. And if he can't see that, then you don't need a guys like him, okay?"

"Okay. And thanks."Arielle said, brightening a little.

Arielle knew that everyone was trying to cheer her up. And they were probably right too. Maybe Srius didn't deserve her. Maybe she was wrong about him. But she couldn't help thinking she was, and that no matter what anyone said, it wouldn't help tha pain.

Charms class was a very boring affair for Sirius. James and Remus sat with the girls, who did not sit in their usual seats nexts to him, but up in the front. So, Sirius was reduced to talking to Wormtail and his fan club, which was very redundant after a while.

Sirius didn't know whyhe had said yes to Vicki, was that her name?? Yeah, it was. He kept telling himself it would be better to distance himself from Ari, and that this way, in the end, maybe they could still be friends. He knew he hurt her, but it was so that she could be saved from being hurt more.

"--and so, thats what I'm trying to do, but I can't do it!!! You could do it in 2nd year. Help me Padfoot, please?" Wormtail finished his question.

"ummm.."Sirius thought up a quick save,"Why do't you show me how you do it, then I ca tell you what you're doing wrong?"

"Oh, okay!" Peter squeked happily, then went on to do the charm, or at least, try to.

****Up in front.****

James couldn't concentrate. He had already don his charm, so it didn't matter. He was thinking, about what the maurdrs should do to Sirius. He knew that he had feelings for Arielle, but he was way to stubborn to show them. And when he wanted to be, Sirius could be as stubborn as a mule.

James snapped out of his trance as he heard Lily whispering to him.

"James? James? Helloooo, are you in there?"She said very softly, so only he could hear.

"Oops, yeah, sorry. Whats up?" James whispered back, his heart racing.

"Well, I just wanted to say thanks. For sitting up here, I mean. It may not seem like it, but it does mean a lot to Ari, to know that she was right to get mad. And it makes her feel a lot better to know that even Sirius' own friends think he's wrong." Lily said smiling."It's really nice of you." With that, she turned around and started up another convo. with everyone else.

Now James thoughts turned to Lily. She had been nice to him! And had complimented him!!! Maybe, just maybe, was she staring to like him?? If so, he would not blow it. No way. He'll show Lily just how responsible he could be. He turned back to the conversation at hand.

"So, Ari, what are you doing this summer?" Lily was asking everyone in turn.

"Well, I'm gonna go home, and I'll have you two over, of course. We can go in the forests, or even to the towns with men in them. There are not a lot of them left, most of them sailed here, like I did." Arielle said, "What about you Sasha?"

"Well, I won;t be able to visit you till mid July, cause I'm going to Italy for vacation with my parents. I'll take pictures for you all though!" Sasha finished,"You Remus?"

"I'm probably gonna spend a little bit at my place, then go to Jamsies, right James?" Remus asked in mock question.

"Oh, gee, I dunno......" James trailed off. "Yeah, course ya are, Moony!"

"What do those nicknames mean?" Lily asked, curiously.

"Uhhh, nothing. Just random nicknames." James said quickly, and the girls decided to drop it.

"So, James, what Quidditch positions will be open next year?" Sasha asked.

"Well, no chasers, me, Lily, and Ari here have that covered. We only need one beater, and our keeper is a year below us, but we need a seeker, so beater and seeker." James finished.

"Maybe I'll try for beater, no wait, seeker. Nah, seekers get hurt to much, beater. Well, knowing me, I'd probably be the first beater in history to hit a bludger at myself.....Oh, I'll figure it out later!" Sasha exclaimed in frustration.

"Well, Sasha, you're a great flyer, so whichever you choose, you'll probably get!" Lily said. Everyone agreed.

"Oh, I can't believe this is our last day of classes. Hah, the little ones still have them!!!! A whole 5 days of relaxing around Hogwarts, should be nice. I think we should stand in front of classroom doors and make fun of the little ones still in class, yeah?" Arielle said laughing. "Nah, don't want to waste my vaca time!"

And so they sat here, talking animatedly about summer, vacation, NEWT classes, and whether the chicken really did come before the egg.

The bell rang, and James, Lily, Remus, Sasha, and Arielle left.

"It's such a nice day! Finally! Let's go outside!" Airelle said happily.

"Okay, yeah."Sasha agreed.

"But which tree will we sit under?" James asked.

"Ours, of course. Ours has better shade, and its closer to the lake."Lily waved her hand dismissively.

"Okay, lets go drop off our books, and meet in....5 kay?"Arielle told everyone,"And we'll meet at the tree, so see ya there! Oh, and no one better take my seat!" She added, narrowing her eyes.

"Yeah, we better hurry up, so we can get our seats." The girls hurried off.

Although they ran, James and Remus still beat them there, and James was spread out so that he was taking up both Arielle's and Lily's seats, and half of Sasha's.

"James, you fat hog, get out of my seat!"Arielle said laughing.

"But this is my seat over at our tree!"James whined.

"And if you don't move, I'll make it so you won't be able to take anyones seat again."Arielle said sweetly.

"Oh, yeah, how?"James asked.

"Well, we won't have to worry about you sitting anywhere, because you won't be able to sit. And you know, curses around that area could go very wrong, so I could end up hitting you somewhere else, if you know what I mean."Arielle finished. James sat up hurridly.

"Okay,no need to get violent Levison, I'm a reasonable guy!"James said, his voice worried.

Arielle, Lily, and Sasha sat down."Glad you saw it our way!" Arielle said smirking. As evryone else started talking, Arielle looked around. She saw Sirius sitting at the guys tree with Peter, trying to get him to understand a spell. Just at that moment, Sirius looked at her, and smiled. She almost smiled back,but instead, she gave him a very dirty look, then turned her head.

If looks could kill, I'd be dead and buried. Sirius thought to himself. Of course he should've known she would be mad, everyone else was. Sirius finally made up his mind. He stood up, and went in the castle.

Sirius searched around in the great hall, then found her. Vicki. He walked over to her.

"Vicki, can I talk to you for a minute?"Sirius asked.

"Sure!" Vicki said giggling. They walked into the hallway.

"Listen, Vicki, sorry, but I'm going to have to break our date for Hogsmeade. It's not you, it's me. Bye" Sirius turned and started to walk out.

"I bet it's cause of that Arielle girl, huh?"Vicki said angrily,"Sirius, you're too good for her.She doesn't deserve you."

"No, Vicki, I'm not sure if I deserve her."Sirius said without turning around.Then he left.

He walked outside, and back to his tree. Peter had went over to join The girls and guys over at the other tree. Sirius decided to chance it, and walked over.

"Ari, can I talk to you for a minute?"All the girls looked angry, Remus looked indifferent. James was trying to look angry, but behind it, Sirius could see pride. So James knew what he did? Of course, James knows a lot of things I do,Sirius thought. Peter just looked confused.

"Why would she want to talk to you, Black?"Lily asked coldly.

"Ummm, no, guys, it's okay. I'll go. What could it hurt, right?"Arielle said nervously, trying to sound cool.

Sirius steered Arielle away from everyone else, up into the common room.

"Okay, Arielle, I'm not very good at this....I mean, you know, it's hard, what I'm saying is, sometimes you do something, and you regret it the next second...and then you try to make it right, and....I mean-"Sirius was cut off.

"Sirius, you rambling. You know you can tell me."Arielle said, sitting down so she could look at him. She saw the pain in his eyes, and felt so bad. She just wanted to take all that pain away.

"Arielle, what I'm trying to say is, I'm sorry. I was being an idiot, and I didn't mean to hurt you. It's just, I ddin't want to go out with you, then end up messing up and losing you." Sirius finished miserably

"Oh, Sirius!"Arielle exclaimed,"I like you too. A lot. And I would rather take that chance, and hae us break up, than for us to be miserable like this."

"You're right. So, umm, wanna go to Hogsmeade with me? Don't worry about Vicki, I told her I couldn't go with her."Sirius looked hopeful.

"Sure Sirius, I'd love to."And with that, Arielle gave him a small kiss on the cheek, then left.

Sirius sighed. Right about now, he was the happiest man on earth. Nothing could get better than this, he thought. With that, he sighed, and went back outside.

When Arielle walked back outside, she saw James and Peter talking on the lake side. She smiled to herself, this was just too good of an opportunity to pass up. She put a Disillusment charm on herself, and crept up to James.Than, she suddenly shoved him into the water.

Splash!

"Blah-what the heck-bleh-who the hel-spit-whenever I get my hands on-phew-god, this water-cold-grrr!"James went on rambling.

Arielle took off the charm right there. When everyone turned their head to see what had happened, the started laughing. James Potter, maurauder and hottie, getting pushed into the lake by Arielle Levison??? It was too funny!!!!

Arielle reached out her hand."Here, James, you big baby, water won't hurt you!" He took her hand, and pulled her in the lake to, whilst climbing out himself.

"James, you are so DEAD!!!!! You just wait, Potter, I'm gonna get you, and you will die a horribly cliched death!!!!!"Arielle said as she was getting up. James, sensing danger, started to run. Just then he felt a wave of air wash over him,and found he couldn't move anything but his head. He turned and saw Sasha twirling her wand in her fingers, and Lily smiling sympathetically at him....Woah, wait, sypathy from Lily?? Even though he had a shrewd idea what was going to happen, he was still happy about that.

"So, James, you think its funy to push a lady in a lake??Hmmmm??"Arielle asked with mock coolness in her voice. She was dranched, but could see a twinkle in her eyes.

"Yeah, pretty funny.You know, a few good laughs." At this, Arielle couldn't help but smiling.

"But, do you think it's funny to push someone who was trying to help you in water??" Arielle raised he eyebrows at him.

"Well, since the person who was helping me out of said situation was the one who caused it, I'd say it's a fair trade."James said smirking.

"But, James, do you think it's funny to push me in a lake?"Arielle looked at him in triumph. He knew he was beat. Arielle had too much support for him to say yes, it was a good weapon for her to have o her side. Luckily, she hardly ever used it.

Now everyone in the vacinity was looking on in interest. Sirius had seen the whole thing, and was trying really hard not to laugh. Lily and Sasha were shaking with silent laughter, and Remus was just smiling. Peter was scowling. He obviously did not like his big bad protector being shown up by a girl, an elven girl no less.

"No, of course not Levison."James said sighing. Then he thought of something. He had just as much support as she did. "But did you think it was funny to push me in the lake?" He looked at her smiling. Hahaaaa, he had her.

But Arielle didn't look that affected by his question."Why, yes, actually I found it rather amusing. But not half as amusing as this,"She turned his hair pink,"Or that this charm last 24 hours, nothing you can do."She whirled around, where a group of giggling, now sullen girls were gathering,"And just what, do you think you're going to do about it?" She asked the girls, laughing. A few of them hesitated, but some said 'She's alone, we can take her!'

"She won't be alone, though."At this Lily and Sasha stood up an walked over. Now this was a whole different story. To mess with one of the smarter girls at the school was okay, if you had a group, there was a chance you could have a draw. But to mess with the 3 smartest witches at Hogwarts, you're just asking to be sent to the Hospital wing. "Lets still take them!"Some said, then the girls stated cicling closer.

"Leave them alone!"Sirius walked up and stood next to Arielle.The girls sighed in defeat. No way they could take on all five of them, as Remus had just walked over. They sighed and walked away. Arielle unfroze James, and hid herself behind Sirius in mock fear.

"O, no, Jamesie, please don't urt me.You're so big, and so strong, I'm soooo sorry."Arielle said in a high pitched voice, sarcasm clearly evident.

James lookd up at his hair. He immediantly looked down."Does this really have a 24 hour charm on it?"

"No, of course not,if it did, we would have to walk around Hogsmeade with you, and that would be right embarrassing...more so than usual, of course." Arielle smirked.

"Then why'd you tell me it was?"James asked in frustration.

"I wanted to see ya squirm Jamey!!!"Arielle said in delight."And I think he squirmed, right Sirius?"Arielle said, putting her arms around him.

"I think you did a pretty good job."Sirius answered, giving her a small kiss.

"AWE!!"Lily and Sasha exclaimed. Arielle turned herself around in Sirius' arms and gave them a "look" then smiled.

"Well, lets all go to the common room, kay? Race ya there!"And with that, Arielle took off, Sirius, Sasha, Remus, and Peter running after her.

"You have to admit, that was pretty funny."Lily said as she and James walked along in silence.

"I look silly!"James exclaimed.

"Oh, I dunno, you look great to me.Pink is definately your color!"Lily ran off, and James sped after her, her words ringing in his head, you look great to me, .Had Lily turned around, she maybe would've noticed that James was running slower than usual, and had a big goofy grin on his face.

Lily, did not notice this, until they came to the common room entrance, and she stopped and waited for him. "I can never outrun you." She said as they walked in. They sat down with their friends.

"Sirius, come here, I have something to give you....."Arielle trailed off, as Sirius came over and said "Yeah?"

Arielle had smacked him, not too hard, in the face."If you ever hurt me like you did thes past few weeks, I will never forgive you." She said in an undertone.

Sirius held his face in mock hurt "Owww!" He complained.

"Oh, where does it hurt?"Arielle asked in exasperation. Sirius pointed it out, and she gave him a small kiss on the spot."Better?"

"Much. But it still hurts here," Sirius pointed to his mouth. Arielle rolled her eyes, and kissed him there too. This one was a little longer though.

Wow, he's a good kisser. Really good, in fact. Arielle thought to herself. She smiled at Sirius, then turned back to the convo at hand.

"Potter, please pay attention!!!"James heard the professors voice ringing in his ears, and looked up to see McGonagall glaring at him.

"Sorry Professor."James said sweetly slapping a charming slime on his face,"Won't happen again."

"See to it that it doesn't."The stern woman said, looking down her glasses at him.

"As I was saying, for the next few weeks, a few select students will be studying to become Animagi with me. If you think you have any interest in this at all, see me after class. But for today, we will be starting on tranfiguring humans into animals, and parts of animals into human body parts. This comes in handy whenever someone has, lets say, had an arm torn off beyond repair. The healer can simply transfigure an animals arm into a human one. No matter how gruesome or disgusting that may seem, it is better than walking around armless. Now, pair into groups-no, Black,Potter, not you two, and get to work."McGonagall finished.

James was agast. Now who would he work with. He looked over to Remus, only to see that Sirius had already taken him. Peter was trying to catch his eye, but just then he noticed Lily had no partner...he started to walk over.

"Ah, if it isn't Jamesy!"She said cheerfully as James walked over to them"And to what do we owe this great honor?"Arielle curtsied, then started laughing.

"Oh, well, I was wondering if Lily would like to work with me. Cause I don't have a partner, and neither does she, so it does kinda make sense, ya know?"James answered sarcastically.

"Sure, it's cool. Since my friends obviously don't want me here."Lily said in a mockingly sad tone.

"Ah, be gone with ya Lils, and you two Jamie!"Arielle shooed them away, and as they left, they could hear her mutter,"Always such a distraction, those two, such troublemakers......confound these young people today!"Then she and Sasha burst into giggles.

"Haha, you can kind of see why her and Sirius click so well. Always so innocent, right?"James said , trying to stay calm, but it was no use. I hope she isn't all nervous and won't talk to me. That makes for a really boring class.

"Yeah, it's really cute how well they go together, huh?"Lily said, trying not to sound nervous. He's just James, he won't tease you about something like that

"Yeah......"James trailed off...Too bad we couldn't be like that

But maybe we could James....I just wish you could see that...you don't really annoy me all the time...just...a lot of the time.I try to hate you so much....but sometimes its so hard. I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you mess with your hair! I hate the way you ride your broom, I hate it when you stare! I hate your stupid pranks on me, and the way you read my mind! I hate you so much it makes me sick; it even makes me rhyme! I hate it, I hate the way your always right! I hate it when you lie! I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry! I hate it when your not around, and the fact that you didnt say hi! But mostly I hate the way I dont hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all! It makes me so mad James, but sometimes it makes me happy! I get so confused, because sometimes you make me so ******, and other times, I just love the fact that I can look at you, and I know everything will be okay! Cause I know, at least I think I do, that you wouldn't ever let anything hurt me intentionally!!! But you just never see the way you hurt me all the time! When you play pranks on me, when I have to yell at you, when I see you with another girl, it drives me mad!!! But, no, maybe you're right, maybe I am being stupid, maybe I should give up. I dunno, but all I know is, you make me feel happy. Special. Loved. And I really do think that I love you too.

James was stunned by this. Lily was telepathic?? He had no clue. But what she said. She liked him? It was his dream come true. But he wouldn't talk back to her, not yet, but he would remember everything she said, and try to not annoy her as much. I'll tell her someday...when we're married, maybe. Yeah, great way to start a marraige, "Hey hunny, I forgot to tell you, I read you're mind that one time, and thats what made me change."Real romantic Potter.

The second he thought it, he had wished he hadn't.He just hoped and prayed that Lily wasn't listening. He decided that later he would show he was telepath too.

"So, let's get to work."And with that, Lily and James started to work, each shooting glances at each other every so often, only to go unnoticed by the other.

"So, girls, I'm thinking this summer, you all should come visit with me, since we have been to Lily's place already, and since you guys have been to Sasha's.....it would be so fun! There is this awesome forest where we live, it's....perfect, really, so quiet and peaceful, and singing too. Not loud singing, a soft singing......it's wondeful...."Arielle finished.

Lily and Sasha looked at each other. They never really realize how homesick Arielle could get...I mean, eerything was really different here. But she did a good job adjusting......so, they didn't bring it up, since she didn't.

"Yeah, that sounds good. Should be okay with my folks, they loved you whn you came."Lily said.

"Yeah, same here. Only, can't be till after June, I'll be on vaca till then."Sasha replied. They were in their dorm, gettin ready to go down to breakfast....and the last day of school.

"Are we ready?"Arielle asked. When everyone nodded their heads, they headed down.To....the last day of school.Which, incedently, wouldn't really be school for them,just wandering around.

"Ahhh, the last day of school! Nice.....relaxing....summer."Arielle sighed.

"Definately"Sasha said as they sat down. The marauders came charging in shortly after.

"So, whatcha all gonna do today? Nothing? Then you should come to Hogsmeade with me, Jamie, and Remmy!"Sirius said brightly."Kind of a triple date!I mean, a double date with Lily and James coming along, of course."Sirius said at the look Lily sent him.

"Hmmm.....I guess that could be cool....I'm in."Arielle said,"Plus, it would be way better than hanging here with the little munchkins.....even if I do hafta spend the day with Sirius."Arielle finished teasingly.

"Ah, harsh words from the fair maiden."Sirius said dramatically, wiping away a fake tear."Whatever will heal these wounds?"Arielle laughed and pulled Sirius into a hug "Poor baby,"she said,"I'm so sorry!"

Lily watched Sirius and Arielle.She knew she should be happy for her best friend, and she was.Really. But she just really....wanted something like that. A special person she didn't have to share with everyone......She thought she could have that with James, but wasn't sure he liked her as much as he said. What if he only wanted her because he couldn't have her? I mean, seriously, who would ever really like her??? I'm definately the ugliest out of the group Lily thought to herself.

James heard that, and decided to make his presence known.
No you aren't Lily. Don't ever put yourself down like that!

Lily gasped.James was telepathic? She then asked him(well, thought)....

'James Potter! What do you think you're doing, probing into my thoughts like that!' Lily thought in fake anger. She threw James a small smile.

'What if I said I was just making sure I was on your mind?' James thought back throwing her a cheeky smile. Lily rolled her eyes.

'Whatever. I'll talk to you later' Lily said,shaking her head.

It wasn't the fact that James was also telepathic that bothered her, but the fact that he had read her mind. How many other times had he? And more importantly, what had he heard? Lily was snapped out of her thoughts by seeing Arielle's hand waving in front of her.

"Hellllooo? Earth to Lils? Lilster? You there?" Arielle asked, "You sick or something?" She said, concern in her voice.

"No, just thinking is all." Lily replied, putting a smile on. Arielle accepted this, although she shot Lily one more suspicious look, before saying to everyone else, "So, it's on? We're going then?"

There was general consensus within the group, and so it was. After lunch, they would all trek to Hogsmeade with everyone else, for there was to be a special reward trip for 5th and 7th years.

They spent the morning, though, lounging at the girls tree. The girls, in their normal spots, and the buys around them, because as Arielle had put it, "This is my spot, and these are Lily's and Sasha's. Sit here if you want. but you have your own tree if you want your own seat that badly." To which she recieved a tackle from Sirius, while James and Remus took the girls seats. They then stalked off, until the boys promised that they could have them back. So there they were, talking, until Sirius said something.

"Looky look, it's old Snivellus!" He said gleefully. Arielle looked over, and saw Snape reading on the steps.

"Sirius, don't you dare. He hasn't done anything, he's just sitting there. Stop being so mean." Arielle said, a bit ticked.

"Awe, c'mon! Please? Just this once?" Sirius said, pleading.

"Well, if you do, I won't talk to you until next term. So, if picking on Snape really means more to you than I do, then byball means, go ahead!" Arielle said briskly.

Sirius was torn. "Jaaaaammmes!" He whined, "Make her compromise!"

Before James could respond, Lily cut through his thoughts.'Don't you dare, James Potter. Make him choose. She's just trying to see how much he likies her. Don't you dare get in the middle of it.' Lily shot him a warning glance, her eyes flashing, like a green flame of fire.

"Sorry Padfoot, looks like you've got a choice." 'Just hope he makes the right one, Lily' James thought warily. With Sirius, he wasn't too sure. Sirius wasn't used to not getting his way in a relationship. But then again, neither was Arielle.

Arielle was glaring at Sirius, who was glancing back and forth between Snape and Arielle. Finally conceding, he pouted, "Fine. I won't. Just for you, Ari."

Arielle smiled, and gave him a hug. "See, don't you feel so much better, knowing you avoided conflict?"

Sirius said moodily, "No, actually, I don't."

Arielle smirked. "Well, I do."

So they started talking again. After a few minutes, a yelp was heard, and everyone looked to see Snape's robes set on fire. Arielle quickly doused the flames, then rounded on Sirius, who was just tucking his robes back into his pocket.

"Sirius Black! Is that really how much I mean to you? A stupid prank on a worthless Slytherin means more? Well fine then, why don't you go ask Snape out, because I am not tlaking to you until the beginning of next term!" And with that, she stormed up to the castle. Lily and Sasha threw Sirius each a daggering glare, and hurried after her.

"Sirius, I don't know if you know this, but she's got willpower like nothing I've seen, so she's probably going to hold truw to her word." James said, staring at Sirius. "Why'd you do it anyway?"

Sirius took a deep breathe, "I don't know. I guess I'm just not used to this. Any other girl wouldn't have cared that I hexed Snape. I know I shouldn't have, but my ego just got the best of me, I guess." He hung his head.

"This really sucks." Sirius said, and walked slowly up to the castle.

"Indeed it does." Remus said as he, James, and Peter followed.

Okay, even though I never got any feedback, I'll continue. It may be a bit hard, as my kitten is sitting in my lap. Everyone say hi to Yuri, she'll be appearing in my other story. Anyway, onward!

Arielle, as James predicted, kept true to her word. It wasn't too hard though.

As everyone boarded the train Lily, Sashsa, and Arielle ran to get their favorite compartment, in the back.

Arielle flopped down on a seat. "So, whats the plan for the summer???? Cause I dunno about you, but I have a long trip, unless my Dad has a portkey."

Sasha smiled. "Well, next week I'm leaving till July, then maybe we could all get together. You and Lils could get together before then."

Lily nodded. "We can spend some time at each of our houses."

Arielle gave a huge smile, "I can't wait to see what my Dad has done to our treehouse!" The other girls nodded in agreement as they remembered the time they had built it.

*I just love those memorable falshbacks, don't you?*

12 year old Lily laughed. "Ari, you can't be serious! It would be hard enough to build with magic, let alone on our own."

Arielle stomped her foot. "It will not. I've told you. It's easy. This wood goes together! You don't need these 'nail' things, or a hammer either. You just need to put it together. My Dad charmed it!!!"

Alice looked at Lily hopefully, "C'mon Lils, we can give it a try, right?"

Lily rolled her eyes, "Fine. Okay. I'm sure it won't work, though."

Arielle smiled, "But I'm sure it will Lils."

So they set out to work, cutting pieces of wood according to the blueprint Sasha had made.

"It was really nice of Sasha to make this for us. Too bad she's in the Carribean right now, or she could build it with us." Arielle said, laying down one piece and starting on another.

Finally, the got them all cut, and slowly put the floor of the treehouse together, up in the tree, so they would have somewhere to stand as they did the walls and roof.

"Told ya it would stick Lils!" Arielle said as they started to put the walls up. Finally, they put the roof on, and climbed down to admire their handywork.

It was in one of the biggest trees in the forest, a circular house, with windows, and a cone roof. (Think 'Swiss family Robinson'). They stood back and sighed.

"Girls, we are good." Alice said happily.

"Indeed you are." A voice from behind them said. They spun around in surprise. It was Sasha! And with her she had paint, wallpaper, curtains, and behind her, four beanbag chair, each their favorite colors. Lily's was green, Arielle's was periwinkle, Sasha's was purple and Alice's red.

"Oh. My. Gosh. Sasha, you totally rock!" Lily said. "Lets go up and paint, and put wallpaper up!"

"But what color will we paint it?" Arielle asked, eyeing the four cans of paint. But Sasha had solved that too. She had brought a color for each of them, similar in shade to their beanbag chairs, and said maybe they could each do a corner, sin there were four of them. All girls agreed that this was a creative and fair idea, and set to work, laughing and splashing themselves with paint, so that they were as covered as the walls were when they came out.

"We had some really good times in that treehouse." Arielle recalled, a smile playing at her lips. They girls shook themselves from the past just as there was a large crash from outside their compartment. They opened their door to find, guess who? the maruaders in a twisted heap outside the door. Sasha chuckled, while Lily shook her head and sighed, and Arielle sighed and turned to the other girls and said, "Why does this not surprise me?"

Sasha replied, in mock seriousness, "Because it's the sneaky sly Marauder way to listen at a compartment door."

Hear, hear!" James said, while Remus just offered smile, and Sirius said, "Hello ladies, fancy meeting you here."

Lily rolled her eyes and replied, "Yes, for it is so abnormal for people to actually sit in their compartment and expect not to be disturbed"

"Thanks for your input, oh Queen of Sarcasm." James said, standing up.

"No, no,no, that's Ari.I'm the Queen of...uhm..." Lily faltered.

Um...the Queen of good Manners?" Arielle supplied helpfully, shrugging her shoulders. The little group burst into laughter, until the girls went back into their compartment and slammed the door.

"That wasn't such good manners Lily!" Sirius called through the door.

"Well, neither was you listening at our door!" Sasha replied.

James then mumbled, quite audibly, "Lily should be the Queen of Vengeance." Lily heard and stuck her head out.

"Excuse me? You did nnot just call me that! I am not vengeful!" Lily said, eyes wide in offense. "Ari, am I vengeful?" She added quickly.

Arielle shrugged. "I dunno. Wouldn't worry about it though. I, for one, didn't even know that James knew what the word vengful meant. But then, after all, most of the arguements he gets in with you has him scurrying to the library afterwards, so that must be it." James face flushed as Ari stuck her head out and smirked.

"And you should be called the Queen fo Insults." James said huffily. He had only gone to the library once. Once!

Arielle swept her hand at the comment, as if batting an extremely annoying fly. "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Likle you haven't dished out you own. At least mine has some basis. It gets people a lot more to know what you're sayin is true, than just some stupid spur of the moment thing, like yours, oh Saintly James."

Sasha then stuck her head out. "I'm thinking you guys should get going. We've done enough ego deflation til next term."

Lily nodded, but Arielle looked scandalized, as if Christmas had been canceled. "Oh, no we have most certainly not! I'm on a roll! You can't just stop me now! Thats completely and utterly unfair! They have enough ego, c'mon, just a few more cutting remarks I mean, really!" Arielle sputtered in surprise as four slender hands pulled her in the door, shut, and locked it.

The buys stayed out there, until Lily called, "You want us to let her back out?" To which they walked away.

"You really think we're that bad? That they have to insult us just to deflate our egos?" James said as they walked back to their compartment.

"You mean you two. I'm fine. They don't have aproblem with me." Remus said smugly as they sat down.

"I dunno Prongs. It sure seems that what they're trying to tell us. But, who knows, right?" Sirius said, perplexed.

James ran a hand through his hair, "Yeah, you know, at first I just thought they were teasing about us having inflated heads, but they don't seem to be so much anymore. Maybe we are a bit full of ourselves." They sat there comtemplating the girls words til they got off the train.

Sirius spoke up, "Tell ya what? Why don't we just, stop being so umm....whatever we are, conceited. If we even are. Then maybe we'll be able to tell for ourselves, I dunno."

James shrugged "Sure, I guess."

Thanks to everyone who posted feedback! Sorry, I went shopping yesterday for a -tee hee- halloween costume! Hahahahaha. Yeah, okay, anyway, I'm a Gothic Slayer. I'm still debating whether that means I'm a goth who slay vampires and stuff, or a slayer who slays goths. I'm kind of hoping for the first one, seems a lot less....inhumane. That is a word...right? Yes, it is.

I would've updated on like Wednesday, but I've been feeling lousy all week, I missed school on Monday, but couldn't miss the rest of the week, so I was in a really bad mood anyways, probably better that I didn't post. But I'm feeling a lot better, so it's all good...AND I've got a 3-day weekend....even though it'
s halfway over, but still, it was a 3 day weekend. Alright, enough babble, I'm probably boring you all to death...

Lily, Sasha, and Arielle all hopped off the train, anxious to find their families. Arielle found hers first. "See ya guys, I'll be in touch!" She yelled as she ran over to her Dad.

"Guess it's just you and me Sasha." Lily said as they walked together through the crowds.

"Yep. So, are you going anywhere during the summer?" Sasha asked.

"I dunno. We usually do, I just hope it's somewhere interesting. Last year, we just had to go and visit my sisters friends, it's was bloody horrible!" Lily shook her head.

"Yeah. Your sister isn't the very, well, sociable type, is she?" Sasha smiled, "The first time she met me, what did she say? Oh yeah, 'Bloody hell, there's more of you?' That was so funny!"

Lily grimaced, "Yeah, me and Pet, we used to be really close. Then, when I got my letter, everything changed. I don't even know how, it was just like it happened overnoght. One day, we're practically inseperable, the next day, she....can't even be in the same room as me." Lily sighed, "I've always hoped that someday we'll be able to haev that sisterly bond again, but, so much has happened... My parents try to make excuses for her, but I don't buy into it, and neither do they."

Sasha nodded her head in sympathy. "Yeah...they shouldn't make excuses for her though, she shouldn't act like that. But maybe their just trying to keep the peace." She shook her head. "Well, theirs my Mum....Dad's working overtime at the Ministry, so....I don't know when he'll be home." She finished sadly.

Lily looked at the ground. "They're really having a rough time over there, huh?" Sasha's father was one of the Ministry's top Aurors, working between raids, and training new Aurors, Sasha probably wasn't going to be able to see him much.

Sasha shrugged her shoulders. "Yeah, but I guess, it's what has to be done, right? See you Lils. Take care, okay?" She gave Lily a hug and walked over towards her mother.

Lily looked around for her parents, and not finding them, decided to go outside of the Hogwarts station to wait. She wheeled out of the platform, though the wall, that, just years ago, she belived would never worked. She chuckled slightly as she remembered what she had said, "This will never work. These barriers are made of stone and brick, and there is no way humanly possible to go through them."

Lily looked around, where were they? They had never been this late before. Sure, there was that time in First year, when they had forgotten how to get onto the barrier, but she had reminded them at least five different times in her last letter. There was the possibility that they had...forgotten about her, but she was sure that wans't it. Unless Petunia changed the date on the calendar again. Lily didn't notice someone sneak up behind her,until....

"Hey there Evans, whatcha doin?"

"******, you scared me, what do you want?"

"Nothing. Just saw you standing there, thinkning. You know, you are incredibly cute looking when your concentrating like that."

"Gee, thanks. I'm honoured, really. No, seriously, what're you doing here?"

"Just wanted to tell your to have a nice summer. Don't want any unpleasant surprises for one of the prettiest witches at Hogwarts, do we now?" Then he turned and left.

What a creep,Lily thought. She saw a few figures off in the distance. Were they her parents? She quickly walked over to them. No, they weren't, definately not. But these people were cetainly no strangers to the magical world. The woman was dressed in a midnight blue cloak, while the man had on a darker grey one. The woman looked her over before nodding to the man, and saying,

"Are you Miss Lily Evans?" Lily nodded her head.

"Yes, that would be me. Who are you?" The man and woman looked at each other warily before the man said, "Maybe we should sit." The woman nodded and sat at the nearest bench, the man shortly following in suit. Lily then did the same.

"Lily, my name is Charlene, and this is my husband, Harold. We're Aurors. You know what they are, I'm assuming?" Lily nodded, "Lily, please, don't do anything rash, but a band of Aurors were dispatched to your house earlier, and, well, you parents, they were, attacked." The woman paused. Lily found that she couldn't speak. Finally, she found her voice, and said, "Are- are they, okay?" The woman closed her eyes. The man took over.

"Lily, when we went there, everything seemed to be in order. We have feeling that we know who did this." Lily then cut him off. "Voldemort?" The man nodded. Lily felt tears coming up to her eyes.

"They're dead, aren't they?" The woman nodded. The man then said,

"we've been seeing more killing like thise recently. Thsi one...it was different though. As we went though the house, we noticed something out of place. This hadn't happened anywhere else, not even in wizarding houses."

"What was it?" Lily asked, her grief and anger mixed with confusion.

"Well....

Okay, it's been a while, but my cold made a rebound (grrr!) and the4n I was just busy. Sorry. But this can kind of make up for it, right? Yes? uhm huh.

"Well," the man said, "when we went to search your room, we found that there were photos missing. Photo's that came out of an album labeled 'Hogwarts'. Some of the photos weren't missing, just the faces were cut out. It was really bizarre."

Lily sighed. Her pictures were gone too. First, her parents killed, Lily's chest tightened, as the realization hit her. She choked out, "They...they...they're gone." She swallowed back the sobs that were coming up. Tears filled her eyes and spilled down her cheeks, splashing into her lap. Charlene put an arm around Lily.

"There there Lily. I'm not going to tell you it's a lright, because I know it isn't. And it won't be for a long time. But you will get through it." Charlene said gently. "Now, we can't leave you here, so we're transporting you to one of Auror's houses, until someone can come and get you. Is there anyone in particular that you would want us to contact?"

Lily spoke up at once. "I want Ari and Sasha." She almost whined. But she didn't care. Her parents, they were...gone.

Harold nodded. "I'll owl them at once." He pulled out an old newspaper. "Grab this. It's set to transport you in 15 seconds." Lily took it quickly.

"8 seconds"

Lily thought quickly, "But where will I be going?"

"4 seconds."

Charlene replied "Didn't I tell you? One of our mose prominent Aurors homes, Potter Place." And before Lily's jaw could even drop in surprise, she was whisked away by the portkey.

As Frederick Potter was driving through downtown London, a flash of light appeared in the empty passenger seat, leaving behind a note. He glanced in the mirror at James, who was yearning to reach out and grab it, but knew better. Frederick quickly pulled over, and read though the note, a grim frown settling on his face.

James noticed immediantly and asked "Whats up Dad?" Frederick shook his head.

"Another attack, today. A muggle girl. She'll be at our house until someone comes for her. They've already made contact with Janet, and the girl's friends. We had better get home." Frederick pulled out, he sped home, leaving James to mull this over in his head.

Another attack, James thought, this is getting serious. This Voldemort character is getting bolder by the day. He pitied the girl, even though he had no clue who she was. He would hate to lose his parents. Just thinking about it made him shake a bit. He shook his head. I need to clear my mind, he thought.

"Well, we're home." Frederick said as they pulled up to the Manor. He pulled into the four car garage, and stopped.

"Now James, I shouldn't think that I should have to tell you how to and how not to act around this girl, so I won't. Just be aware, that she has just suffered a great loss, and will probably not want to talk." His father said sternly.

"Don't worry Dad, I know. I'm not that dense, you know?" James said wearily. He really wasn't. His father eyed him, then nodded. "Come on then."

They walked in to hear James mother, Janet, talking to someone.

"Are you sure you're okay dear?" They didn't hear the reply. "If you're sure. Do you want to be left alone?" They heard a mumble as they drew closer. "Okay, I'll stay here then. It'll be okay dear; don't worry. I know, it is hard." James and his father walked in. Janet ran over to embrace her son.

"James! I'm so glad your home! I've missed you something terrible. How was school? Have you met our guest?" James pulled away from his Mom to see a pair of emerald eyes her knew quite well staring back at him. James felt the color drain from his face. Not Lily.

But this Lily was different. This Lily didn't have the sparkle to her eyes. Lily always had a sparkle in her eyes, even when she was yelling at James. Now, her eyes were lifeless, red and puffy. Her red hair was also different. It wasn't bouncing and radiant like usually. Instead, it was flat and limp.

"Hello James." Lily said. She didn't even try to be cheerful. Her voice wasn't the same either. It was quieter now, more fragile. It was a monotone, with no changes. Just the same thing, over and over.

"Hey Lily..."James trailed off. He didn't know what to say.

"Sorry kids, I've got to go. I have to pick some things up at Diagon Alley." James mother said. She paused, "Will you be okay?" She asked Lily. Lily nodded back. Janet gave each both a kiss on the forehead, and swept out of the room. Lily sat back down. James walked over and sat down cautiously besaide her. She looked over at him, and try to crack a small smile. It didn't work.

"Don't worry James, you're not going to cause my a mental breakdown." Lily turned her gaze back to in front of her.

"Lily, um, are you okay? I mean, I know you aren't, but other than...well, are you okay?" James said stumbling through his words.

Lily sighed, "I will be, I guess. I'm just so....devastated." She paused, "You know, when I first got my letter, for Hogwarts, I was so scared. But my parents convinced me to try it. They told me 'Lily, you can't give something up without knowing what you're losing. Try this wizarding thing, and if you don't like it, you'll be home in a matter of hours.' So, I did. And I did like it. A lot. And when Pet got mad at me for leaving, they always stood by me, and told me that she didn't mean it." Tears started falling down her face. "I was suppose to go home for Christmas this year, but I didn't. I figured that this would be one of my last Christmases here, and that I would....always have them to come home to." She gasped, "I'm such a horrible daughter!" She collapsed into sobs. James looked panicked.

"No, no Lily, "He said quickly, "They don't think that. They're happy, just knowing that you had a good time. They aren't mad. No, they aren't mad. "James said soothingly, patting her on the back. She looked up, a watery half smile on her face, and hope in her eyes.

"You really think so?"

"I know so Lils. They would never be ,ad at you. They love you." Lily smiled gratefully and sniffed.

"I'm sorry, I'm just being silly."

"No, it's okay Lily, really."

"Thanks James, you know, you aren't that bad at al-" They were inturrupted by the doors being thrown open, and a slim figure standing there.

"Lils! Oh, Lily!" Arielle rushed over and threw her arms around Lily.

"Ari!" Lily gasped, "Oh, I'm so happy your here."

"I came as soon as I got the message. Oh, my poor Lils! How awful! I can't believe you had to bear it alone! I'm so sorry, I should've stayed!" Arielle exclaimed, letting Lily silently sob on her shoulder.

This was one of the rare occasions that anyone got to see inside the friendship of Lily, Arielle, and Sasha. No one had ever quite understood why they made such a great trio, just that they did. None of them were like the other too much. No one understood, not even James, until that moment. Lily, Sasha, and Arielle were such great friends because they actually cared for one another. They respected, defended, and were loyal to each other. They cheered each other up, and were always there for one another. James kind of admired this, and wondered if he would ever let Sirius cry on his shoulder, or vice versa.

"It's okay Ari. Where's Sasha?" Lily asked through her tears.

"She should be here soon." And as if by magic, Sasha appeared, and soon all three were in a big huggy thing, as James described it.

"You'll be staying with me, okay Lils? Someone's already went to get your stuff. I'll be fine now; we're all here for you. C'mon, let's go get you something to eat." Arielle said as she and Sasha each took an arm. As Lily and Sasha walked out, but Arielle turned around and stared at James a minute, before walking over to him.

"You know James, you're okay. I mean, sure, you can be rude, but maybe we misjudged you. Maybe you aren't as egotistical as we say. You're alright Potter, you're alright. " She said, nodding her head, while ruffling his hair. "Let's go catch up, shall we?" And they walked out of the room.

Okay, sorry, but this serves as a filler chapter more than anything. I'll probably try to update on like, Wednesday, but it's hard for me to update on weekdays, cause I have hw, and cause everyone gets on a lot.

Anyway, I was all out of idea's for this filler, still am kind of. But, in the meantime, I wrote a One-Shot, about the end of the Marauders. Now, if you go read it, I'm just saying, that in this story (and it's sequel) Remus and Peter are NOT going to die in the same way as they did there. James and Sirius, everyone already knows how they die, so.....yeah. Check it out.

"Lily, what about you?" Sasha asked. They were all seated in one of James' many room, asking each other questions.

"Hmmmmmm, I don't know. That question is kind of out of date, you know. 'If you were stuck on a desert island...' I mean, what idiot wouldn't take a wand?!" Lily said. Arielle burst into laughter.

"No, Lily, you're missing the point. We're trying to see this from a Muggle retrospect." Arielle said shaking her head.

Lily thought fro a moment."Well..."She said finally."If I were a Muggle, and I were trapped on an island, I would have to take...a boat! DUH!" The girl's giggled.

"Okay, nevermind that. This is boring. Let's do something else." Arielle said.

Sasha stuck her tongue out. "Well gee, I guess that Ari girl is just too fast-paced for us, huh Lils?"

Lily rolled her eyes. "Always in a whirlwind of excitement, that one."

Arielle pretended to pout. "Guuys, don't make fun of me!!!!!"

Sasha ignored her plea. "But then again, who wouldn't be, going out with that dashing Sirius Black!" Lily and Sasha collapsed into giggles.

"Hpmf. As if have much room to talk, snogging Lupin every chance you get." Arielle said, eyebrows raised.

"I- what- oh, no I most certainly do not!" Sasha sputtered. This made Lily laugh harder.

"Sasha-hahaha" Sha gasped,"You're face-hehehehe-is sooooo-hahahatehe-RED!"

Sasha looked at her, sighing. "Uh-huh. And does the name James Potter ring a bell?"

Now it was Lily's turn to turn red. "What are you talking about??"

Arielle jumped in. "Don't tell us it's not true. You used to hate him Lils. Now you're all like 'James, pink is so you color.' or 'James, teeheee, you're so funny!' Potter may be too thick to notice, but we aren't. You've got it baaaaddd, Lily Evans!" Arielle finished triumphantly.

Lily gasped. "You really think so?"

Sasha rolled her eyes, then nodded. "It's a bit obvious to us Lils."

Lily shook her head. "My gosh. How many other people have noticed?"

Sasha and Arielle brightened. "No one Lils," Arielle said.

"We only know," continued Sasha,

"Because we are, of course,-"

"Your absolute best-"

"FRIEEEEEEEEEENDSSS!" They both finished in song-song voices.

Lily shook her head, then laughed. "Then I'm doomed, right?"

Arielle shook her head, "Never fear, Lily dear!" Arielle quickly gasped. "That rhymed everyone! I'm sucha goood rhymer!"

Sasha rolled her eyes. "Uh-huh. Suuuure, Ari. Just keep thinkning that." Sasha threw a pillow at Arielle. This, resulted ina huge pillow fight between the three.

Arielle finished singing the song in a soft voice.

"Wh-where did you learn that? It's so pretty..." Lily trailed off.

Arielle sighed. "Um, not sure actually. A friend taught me, I think."

"So...Lils...."Arielle began smirking.

"Whatttt? Ari." Lily replied firmly.

Arielle pulled an innocent face. "Why, I was just going to ask....whats going on with you and Jamsie???"

Lily turned bright red. "Nothing!!! I mean, so what, I don't hate him anymore. It does get rather tiring, you know, always snipping at each other."

Arielle rolled her eyes."You're telling me, you're not the one who has to listen to it."

"But," Lily began nonchalantly, "Even if I did like him, which I don't, he doesn't like me. He only wants me because he can't have me."

Arielle shook her head. "No, I used to think that as well. But, I really think it's deeper than that Lily. I do. He talks about you all the time to Sirius and Remmy. About how smart and funny you are, about how you helped a first-year find their way to the Charms corridor, ****** Lils, he even talks about the way your hair framed your face when you were sitting down by the lake reading. It's not just a game to him. You mean a lot to him, even though he doesn't show it."

Lily inhaled quickly. Did James really think this way about her??

Arielle pulled out a brush and starting running it through her hair. "I myself would find it flattering. Yet rather creepy. Consider this Lils; when are you ever going to find someone like James? I know, he can be such a prat. But trust me, it's only when you're around-don't give me that look-I don't know why he acts so stupid. Maybe he though he could impress you, get your attention. But since you aren't like the rest of the female population-not that thats a bad thing- maybe he figures that negative attention from you is better than nothing at all."

"Ari, come on. It's not like I only talk to him when I'm yelling at him."Lily faltered. Arielle quickly pounced on this.

"Then tell me, Ms.Evans, one time that you have talked to Potter without bashing, belittling, yelling at, and/or smacking him." Arielle sat back and gave her a pointed look.

Lily strained to remember a time when she had talked to James civilly. She snapped her fingers. "I've got it! In third year, my quill broke, so I asked to borrow one from him!" Lily smiled. "What say you, Miss Smarty Pants?"

Arielle sighed. "But do remember, dear Lillian, that five minutes later he was locked in a trunk because it turned out he was the one causing them to break, just so you would turn around and talk to him."

Lily threw her head back in frustration. "But all those time....it was his fault!" She was using her childish voice again.

Arielle narrowed her eyes. "Oh yeah? What about the time in fourth year when he hit your elbow with his broom on the way to Quidditch practice, and you blew up at him for -no- reason, then sent him to the hospital wing when he asked you if it was that time of the month."

Lily gaped at Arielle, "And, are you saying your wouldn't hit someone if they asked you that?"

"Yeah, yeah, I would." Arielle put up her hands in defeat. "But Lils, you shold try to see the other side of James. He has many redeeming qualities. He's funny, smart, brave, he looks like quite the kisser,--"

"OKAY, Ari, I get it!" Lily laughed. "When Sasha coming?"

"Riiiiiiiight now!" Sasha entered the room, jumping onto Arielle's bed with a "Ta-da!"

"So, now that we're done analyzing my non-existant love life, let's move onto yours Ari." Lily said sweetly. Arielle rolled her eyes and laid on her back.

"Whatever."

"So, whats going on with you and Sirius?" Sasha asked.

Arielle sighed."I dunno. I mean, at first, it was awesome, now, I'm not so sure. I really like Sirius, seriously," She stopped to have a giggle over this very much intended pun. "But, I mean, what's gonna make me any different from all the other girls he's dated?"

Lily said, "The fact that you have a brain, duh."

While the girls were having their girly girl discussion, the guys were at James house, having a similar one. Although, they would insist that theirs' was much more masculine and brutal. But I think we allllll know how that turns out.

".....and I felt so stupid, I mean, what should I say to a girl who's just lost her parents? Not just any girl, mind, but of course it has to be Lily!" James said, running his hand through his hair.

Remus shook his head sympathetically. "I'm sure she didn't think you any the worse for it. It's not like she could blame you for her loss. In fact, it's hard to say she felt anything but comfort about someone being there, even if it was you. Unless you said something completely stupid." Remus paused. "Completely stupid is completely expected from you. What exactly did you say?"

James held his hands up in defense, "I didn't say anything stupid, as uncharacteristic as it may seem. She felt bad about not going home for Christmas, and I told her that her parents loved her and wouldn't get mad at her for that, and that they didn't blame her at all. Which, in retrospect, is extremely uncharacteristically tactful of me, luckily." James stopped, "Your confidence in me is so supporting, Remus. Thanks." He finished sarcastically.

Sirius barked out a laugh, "You can hardly blame him Prongs. When it comes to knowing what to say around Lily, you're like Snivellus attempting to get the grease out of his hair."

James rolled his eyes, "Yes, well, we can't all have girls falling into our lap, now can we Padfoot?"

Remus cut in. "Doesn't look like that'll matter anymore though James; looks like he's finally found someone who can keep ahold of him."

"Yeah, I personally couldn't think of a better person." James said grinning.

Sirius lifted his head off of James' bed "What are you guys talking about?"

"You and Ari. You know, how you're actually going out with her, instead of it being a fling?" Remus said, rapping Sirius lightly on the head, "Anyone in there?"

Sirius looked confused, "It's not like we're gonna get married or anything."

James narrowed his eyes at his friend "Yeah, but, you aren't going to chuck her to the curb, are you? You're actually going to have a relationship?"

Sirius shook his head. "Ari is different from my other, well, dates. She's more than a fling, but I wouldn't call it a full fledged romance. It's just a fun thing between us. It's a mutual feeling."

James' and Remus' jaw dropped. Remus spoke first;

"Do tell, Padfoot, what's the difference between a fling, and a 'fun thing'?"

James raised his voice an octave. "A mutual feeling? I don't know, but what kind of feeling do you think that Ari's sending you, because it's visible to everyone else that she thinks of you as a lot more than 'a fun thing'!!!"

Sirius looked taken aback."Guys, Ari's a great girl. She could never get serious about a guy like me. I'm Sirius Black, the school player. Okay, I do like Ari, a lot. But she deserves a lot more than what over half the girls at Hogwarts have already had."

Remus shook his head, "I think thats for Ari to decide. But if you aren't going to think of her as something more than 'just fun', I think she deserves to know the truth."

Sirius shook his head. "No, no. I don't think of her as 'just fun', I think of our relationship as that. Let's face it guys; both Ari and I are rather ....restless when it comes to relationships. We're both fawned over by our peers, but Ari's admirerers like her for deeper reasons than why I'm sought after. Which is why Ari probably only thinks of this as another relationship, maybe a longer-than-usual one, but she needs someone who can give her things I can't."

James hit his hand to his head, "Sirius, that's the dumbest logic I've ever seen. Ari obviously likes you a lot more than other guys, or else she wouldn't have waited all this time for you to make your way through your blunders. She obviously cares about you, I don't know why your putting a wall up, when all she wants is to be let in."

Remus spoke up "Sirius Black, almost any girl in the entire school would go out with you forever and never dump you, no matter what. But you dump them. When you finally find a girl you like, you won't let yourself like her, because you won't get away with murder."

"Just what are you implying, Remus Lupin?" Sirius asked cocking his head to one side.

"I'm implying that you, Sirius, are being a chicken!" Remus pointed an accusing finger at the black haried boy, currently springing up from James' bed.

"What?! How so??" Sirius sputted indignantly.

Remus smirked, "You're scared you'll mess up. Thats what all this messed up logic is for. We're your friends Padfoot, we can read you like a book."

James smacked him on the shoulder, "Don't worry! We will be there to pry your wanderin eyes from anywhere they shouldn't be-including McGonagalls hemline."

"Hey-that was only once!" Sirius said, his face red.

Remus snorted. "Once too many times, if you ask me. No wonder she gave you detention that day."

"Yeah, telling her she was breaking dress code isn't exactly charming Siri." James said, flopping down on his bed.

"Well, someone's gotta tell her she's distracting our eager-to-learn minds." Sirius pointed out.

"You're eager to learn Padfoot, and Peter is the brains behind our group." Remus said shaking his head. The group burst into laughter.
