oh cool Hey sarah? o you now whether body shop comes with the game or if its something you download or if its in the game already,where it is. The guide just tells how to use it, not how you get to it.

where di you find it? i have create a sim but thats not the same thing. I can't find anywhere that dowloads it.

Mako I went to the start button at the bottom of my screen then all programs the sims and it said body shop as one of the choices.

I bought The Sims 2 too! I think it's a great game! I love it! Creating myself is really cool. And of course I get to date many hot men!

My sims just had their first baby! I'm tearing up lol

You should be tearing up... the babies and toddlers are just so unbelievably cute! When everyone in the house is sleeping I occasionally reduce the speed to normal, zoom in the camera all the way on the baby and just sit there watching it. I was only planning to have one child with sim-teo but after the first one turned into a teenager I just had to have one more!

I've been pondering buying this game soon - but the only thing is, is that I'm pretty sure my computer is a bit too outdated for it. It meets all of the requirements except for one - my video card is non-T&L capable, and I only have a 1.4 GHz processor. My question is: would this seriously affect gameplay? Because several few years ago I installed a game that required 266 MHz on a 166 MHz processor. It ran a little slowly, but it still ran.

I'm really anxious to play the game, but I don't want to buy it and not be able to play it. I'm pretty sure that we're getting a laptop (or at least a new computer) this December, so I know that I'll be able to play it eventually. But it'd be nice if I could play it now.. XD

I think it would likely affect gameplay quite a bit. I'm running Sims 2 on a 2GHz machine with a T&L capable video card and I get brief slowdowns from time to time, especially when there are multiple Sims on screen at the same time. On my computer the slowdowns aren't bad enough to seriously detract from my enjoyment of the game but it could be pretty bad on yours. You never know though, I've had similar experiences with the "minimum requirements" for games to run well.

Yeah, I'm thinking I probably better wait. Hehe, I'll just sit back and plan out families and movies and watch the ones on TheSims2.com and pester my friend - she has it - and see if she'll let me obsessively watch her play it. XD

Hard to notice? My sim Hermione was as big as a house, moody etc etc...

totally but thats whats funny about it i mean you wouldnt laugh if that happened to someone and that was how they reacted but when its a sim you can.

Sadly my computer is not at all good, so it takes me a very long time to load the game and it takes a while for the game to actually run smoothe, so at the moment untill i upgrade i wont be able to enjoy - it is an awesome game though :cool:

i borrowed the game from a friend to see if it'd actually work on my computer. i had to install directx 9.0c or whatever it is, and that was fine...but when i go to run the game, it says that it can't find any directx9.0c (or whatever) devices on my computer. i think it's probably because my graphics card is lame and it needs new drivers (or needs to be chucked out in favor of a new one, since i have no idea how to get new drivers for it), but does anyone know for sure?

Do you know what type of Graphics Card your computer has? EA put out a list of all supported video cards. If yours isn't on the list, that'll be the problem.

For Windows, you need to go to your Display control panel (find it in your control panel or R-click on your desktop and select Properties). Click the settings tab, and it should display what your video card is.

It's definitely, definitely worth getting. Best PC game I've ever played. It's also a big plus that it doesn't crash my computer like The Sims 1 did. :grumble:

Has anyone else run across the "glitch" of two non-twin children growing up to look completely identical to one another? I had one daughter (Hermione), who grew up to a teenager, then I decided to have a second child (also a daughter, named Bellatrix), who is now a child and looks identical (down to hair color, eye color, and even hair style and clothing) to Hermione! I had to change Bellatrix's hair and clothes to make it stop bugging me so much. Too bad they just can't stay perpetual toddlers, banging away on the toy xylophone all day!

In Plesant town i created Sirius Black i gave him a wife named Mystical, and a teenage son named Slade and 2 stepsons children. Orignal i created 2 toddlers a boy and girl named RJ and Lillian faith but it was too hectic espically with how poor they were so i deleted the family and started over minus the Twins

However i also created a neighboorhood called HoneyDukes that im not finsiehd bulidng but have created some of the familes, in this one i decide to start 1 geneartion back so i have Sirius's Parents who i named Raleigh and Velvet Black (Toddler Sirius) , James Parents Charles and Dedrie Potter, Lily parents Geffory and (cant recall his mothers name) Evans. I also made a Malfoy family(Lucifer, Lucius and Lucas a mom too) , Weasly, Auther being the oldest of 5 brothers, (Molly)Prewitt family. i will be making a Granger family. I still have a lot of bulding to do so i proabably wouldnt play it play it for a while, i also stuck in the Camdens (from 7th heavne) in this town, Annie, Eric and toddler matt. I'll also made a family for Mystical the O'Callaghens they are part of a fan fiction i am writing.

Im sorry i dont are you talking about a cheat for the sims 1 or 2..

That, indeed, was a chaet hwere you cna move objects around FREELY. And you could also move EVERYTHING.

I think they've changed that cheat to moveobjects on/moveobjects off.

Very small question; my Sim teenagers want to "Sneak out". How do you do that? I've tried everything I could think of, but I've never found a way for them to do that. If anyone could tell me how, I'd be very much obliged. :)

When you click on the phone with your teenager as the active Sim there should be an option to "sneak out".

I only got the sneak out option with my teenager the day before she became an adult. She snuck out with her boyfriend and snuck back in for her birthday party. Funniest thing is, her boyfriend is still a teenager, so she can't be with him :lol: This is Harry and Hermione's daughter, Lily. She's moved out now and adopted a son, Jaiden. Harry and Hermione still have 3 kids- Katie who when I posted last was a toddler, they adopted a son Zach and just this afternoon had a baby girl, Kaylah. And Harry still wants more... I'm thinking of just adopting from now on- you get to choose the age and they come named, so you don't have to worry about that :p It's just that their house is getting a little bit cramped- Zach and Katie share Lily's old bedroom and Kaylah has Katie's room (until Lily moved out Kaylah was in with Harry and Hermione :p). Harry's also trying to sleep with the maid and Hermione had turned into 'fierce grandma'- she turns up at Lily's house at 2am! And rings all the time- Zach rings as well and Lily just hangs up :lol:

I still don’t get the sneak option. Is there a special time of day (or night) when you have to press the phone? And does it appear right when you press the phone, or do you have to choose something else first (like “Sim” or “Delivery” etc.)?

Not that it makes that much of a difference since my teenager’s grown up, gotten married, and has two kids. And they are twins (identical ones, wearing the same clothes; I need to go shopping for clothes so that I can tell them apart :)) which means that raising them was incredibly exhausting… But I suppose I can wait for those daughters to become teenagers...

If you click on the phone at about 10 pm or something, the Sneak Out option will be together with Call Sim and Service and Deliviery and Transportation and all those.

Kaching: adds 1000 simoleons to household funds.

Motherlode: adds 50,000 simoleons to household funds *It is spelled wrong so make sure you type it the way its spelled here!

Help: has a small incomplete list of cheats.

Autopatch (on/off): Toggles notification of available game patches.

Moveobjects (on/off): Move unmoveable objects and put them in illegal places. Causes problems so be careful. (I dunno what that means. I use it all the time and I've never had problems.)
*Note: Be careful of this though, You know how you used to be able to delete your sims and then click their pic to bring them back in a great mood? Doesn't work anymore. I couldn't retreive my sims anywhere.*

Aging (on/off): sims won't age.

Vsync (on/off): turning off increases game performance but with some graphical errors as the price.

NEIGHBORHOOD ONLY CHEATS:

deleteAllCharacters: At neighborhood view only, removes every sims from the neighborhood view. Don't use it without a very good excuse!!

I knew most of the cheats *snickers* but I am gutted I can't delete and restore my sims, I tried it and ended up having to revert to the last saving point. Luckily it wasn't bad because I am im the habit of saving before I try cheats just so it doesn't go wrong. I adore the game, I am just so sadistic with my sims, the married guy ran off with the maid and he's an elder and she's expecting her second baby with him :lol: and she swoons when she sees him, it's hilerious! :D The wife had a mini breakdown and one of the daughters ran away.

Heh, it's good fun, but dangerously addictive.

(In other words, no torn marriages, no love affairs, no fighting, no enemies, no bad grades etc.) My sims seem too much like real human beings for me to be able to be nasty!

I no but the love affair is quite funny though and well I accidentally let one of my Sims die, I did not know what to do when she died and so she came back and haunted her husband. Then I realized that he had to cry and morn the death so eventually all was well. On the up side I also produced a thriving family when I knew how to play the game, they had two children and then the fun really started.

Then you'd hate me, Doggy. One of me and my sister's favorite things to do is take a family we hate (say the Pleasent Family), build a black box in their backyard with no windows or doors, and see how long they can survive. We usually put a few stoves in their too, to see if they die of wasting away first, or of fire. It's a quick way to get a house, funiture included, with your own grave yard attached. It sounds a lot more twisted then it is, I promise.

It's a lot harder to do in Sims2 then in the Sims1. Sims2 are more realistic and fight to live. I almost felt guilty. Then I remember that they are nothing more than simulated pixilations that had names such as "Mary Sues" and, in fairness, would have died sooner or later anyway.

Its really my favorite game ever. I've been following reviews and all since ... march 2003 so its been a year and a half lol.
So now I have the game + I have this guy whos achieved the highest job he's the Mayor of SimCity lol, and I realized he was a bit lonley so I made him make the MailGirl move in (he had an affair with ..... a bunch of girls, no more).
The best thing in the game is when you play and NEVER cheat, cause as soon as u cheat you realize you're cheating in that game lol.

I LOOOOVE The Sims 2. It's much more interesting and in-depth than the original... At first it was hard for me to get used to it, as I have difficulty seeing 3-D. Now, however, I it in my free time and really enjoy it! I'm going to be making a Harry-Ron-Hermione family soon, or perhaps the Weasley family.

1) Where in the world could daughter no 1 have gone? Her mood is so red and I can't find her! She hasn't come home!

2) What happens to a sim when they run away? Do they ever come back? Can I find her again as an adult?!

And Doggy, I find half the fun is being mean to your sims :evil: I just had some sims divorce and she's hearbroken over it... this is the family where the daughter ran away- she's a little hell raiser. She's in love with daughter no 1, the one who's vanished, and she's also in love with some guy...

EDIT: It's all sorted :D If your teen sim runs away, for the first 24 hours there's an option on the phone to report them missing and the cops return them. She's now gone missing about 5 times and each time Mum's done that and she's come home each time. And the sim who sneaked out and never came back, well, she just came back and died on the front lawn! Dad pleaded with the reaper and won, so she's still alive and well and she snuck out last night :lol: but she came back :p

:lol: Ok, maybe I should try being mean to my sims, just to have things like that happen. How do your sims run away? (I have to try soon.) Do they have to be super-mad or super-lonely, or super-longing-for-some-sim?

Just a question (as you can tell, I'm not very good at figuring things out. :)) How do your sims "go out"? I found the "sneak out" option (many thanks :D), but I haven't figured out the "go out" one. I thought it was just going to some Community lot (with someone, if that's what the sim wants), but my sims don't gain aspiration points when I go the Community lot, and the aspiration to "go out with X" still stands. Could someone explain....?

Does anyone have any suggestions about the best way to get your kid into priivate school with the headmaster? I had 87 out of 90 and he still says this family doesnt seem the right type. Any suggestions?

Make him a wonderful dinner, make sure all the rooms have good furnishings, make sure kids have good grades, and talk to him a bit.

Remember how in the first Sims, you could use the move objects on code to delete your sims and get all of their health points perfect? does anyone know if there is a way to do that in the Sims 2? I thought I had paused my game and I hadn't, so my family if about to die, and they're so depressed they won't do anything! Please help me!

Just a question (as you can tell, I'm not very good at figuring things out. :)) How do your sims "go out"? I found the "sneak out" option (many thanks :D), but I haven't figured out the "go out" one. I thought it was just going to some Community lot (with someone, if that's what the sim wants), but my sims don't gain aspiration points when I go the Community lot, and the aspiration to "go out with X" still stands. Could someone explain....?
I don't know why this sim keeps running away- she just does! She doesn't like her mum or sister and she grew up badly too, so that's probably why. She's a bit of a wild child :D

To go out the teenager needs to ask permission from the parents- usually when they get home from school if you click on one of the parents it will come up with an option 'Ask Permission to go Out' once you ask and they say yes, you get an option on the telephone for 'Go Out' and it brings up the phone book and they can select the sim they want to go out with. Only thing is, that sim could be working or something- that used to happen to me all the time- and if the sim you ask isn't available, the option to 'Go Out' on the phone goes away and I think you have to wait until the next night.

I prefer sneaking out anyway :p

There are quite a few diffrences, a few being

Your sim acutally is pregant and goes through 3 trimesters.
Their are numerous views you can be in the room with your sims, rather then just looking down on them.
Kids have to do homework that they get at school.
The ages of Infant, Toddler, Child, Teen, Adult , Edler

My hubby is into PC and cars so naturally when I met him I joined in his interest. I started playing unreal tournament and need for speed when I remembered a game I played years ago simcity and there my sim fascination started.
First all the simcities and all the sim animal and finally the sims. I got myself all the add-ons and expansion packs. Downloaded skins, objects anything you can think of from about a thousand sites.

I've read a lot about sims 2 and promised myself as soon as it's out in SA I'm going to get buy it. Well it's been out a while and I still don't have it but I think it will be a perfect x-mas gift to myself. (x-mas bonus will come in handy) Can't wait to give it a try!!!! :p

Just thought I'd post this, but you know how the speech bubbles are slightly fuzzy? I've just installed sims 2 on my new comp, a gaming comp with the best sound and graphics cards available, and I've lost the fuzziness, so it's a graphic card thing.

Also, since I reinstalled it, my sims when they move into a house get dropped off by a taxi... does this happen to anyone else???

It's happened to me everytime I've moved in somewhere. When you move out, a taxi comes and picks up the sim(s), and when you move into an empty house (regardless if the sim has moved out of another house, or if s/he is completely new to the neighbourhood), a taxi drops them off, and there's a little movie where the family walks up the lane to the front door and into the house.

Anyway, I might as well ask a question regarding nannies. Is there any way of getting them out of the house except "taking over" the baby/toddler? Because sometimes when I hire a nanny, the parents take maybe 24 hours to themselves, to eat and sleep and work and take baths and get their fun up etc., and by then the nanny usually faints on the floor out of tiredness, and doesn't leave the hosue even when I get mom or dad to take care of the baby. And when I tell the parent to "dismiss" the nanny, the nanny still stays in the house.
Once I did the desperate thing of moving to a new house when my (two) nannies refused to leave.

Your nannies refuse to leave? That's rather funny, perhaps they have given themselves full-time jobs. Mine always leave by themselves eventually or if I use the "dismiss" command. Perhaps you're not tipping them enough!

I've never gotten the moving out taxi and until the other day never gotten the moving in one... it's just wierd, that's all, that it didn't show up on my old computer but shows up now....

I don't use the nannies- I always have one parent who doesn't work and they look after the kids. Teenagers come in handy too :p

Then you'd hate me, Doggy. One of me and my sister's favorite things to do is take a family we hate (say the Pleasent Family), build a black box in their backyard with no windows or doors, and see how long they can survive. We usually put a few stoves in their too, to see if they die of wasting away first, or of fire. It's a quick way to get a house, funiture included, with your own grave yard attached. It sounds a lot more twisted then it is, I promise.I just came upon this post (p. 10 of the thread) and it's so funny because this is exactly what I do too, on occasion. Actually I'm usually quite nice to my Sims. But recently my boyfriend and I decided to start playing together, just for the fun of it. He designed two ugly trolls -yuk- and I forced them into a one-roomed box type of thing without windows or doors. They basically had a fridge and a toilet and that was it.

The one Sim died of insanity (I think) and the other one looked so pathetic that the two of us decided we won't be playing the Sims together anymore.

Try "the Sims Resource". They have a bunch of objects. You have to sigh up, but most of the objects are free. I've put a few in my game, and it still works fine. I've gotten some great hair off that site, too.

There's alot of objects sites all over the net. There's one in particulare that's a forum (it's free) www.modthesims2.com (http://modthesims2.com) is good. You can get everything from Spongebob beds to Granny lingerie (I'm sure they have christmas decorations just search it) There's also a temporary christmas site with houses and stuff for Sims 1 and 2 www.happysimming.com (http://www.happysimming.com) Hope this helps!

I think you have to a public lot and buy some for your toddler, then go home and change it.

All the files are there, but it just won't load...the neighborhood looks empty. (It will restore from a much earlier backup, but if I replace it it means a ton of lost time.)

I made a Dumbledore family with teenage Albus and Aberforth. Aberforth is a real twit and Albus is weird... seriously... what kind of teen CHOOSES to do his homework without you telling him to? And he likes to phone people at 1am....

His parents have some social problems, too! Once, they visited one of my other houses for no apparent reason. The guy there had a flaming row with Albus's dad and they left. For a joke, I got the guy to invite them round at midnight, thinking that as they hated each other so much, they'd refuse. But they came, and the Dumbledore guy and the other guy had a fight, LOL.

How do you get the sims to have twins? Or is it just random?

I'm currently working a Desperate Housewives-esque family. I've based the woman on the Bree character - she stays at home all day cooking and cleaning and is generally perfect. She's just had another baby (they've already got a teenage girl), and I'm going to get her to rebel against her life soon by having an affair ;)

you can't delete the characters and bring them back in? man that rots! So is there any way to um... well yeah, CHEAT that? Have any cheat codes or anything been discovered and/or revealed that make the game play easier because if I've got to keep sending them to bed it takes away from the gameplay for me. I want my sims to actually DO stuff!

There are several cheats to get around the whole mood thing. Mod The Sims 2 (http://www.modthesims2.com) has a mood filling painting that your Sims just have to "Think of" and their Moods are maxed. Also, there is an ingame cheat, boolProp testingCheatsenabled True, which will enable you to do all kinds of neat things. In particular, with this cheat turned on, you can press shift and click on items to see all sorts of possiblities. You can shift click on the Mail Box and click "Make All Happy", which makes everyone's mood bars full (Even babies!) You can also shift click on your sim and "Display.../Autonous Gender Pref.", which shows what gender your sim is attracted to. You can also "Spawn/Tombstone of L and D", which is an awesome tombstone looking item that does all kinds of things. In addition to adding a randomly generated Sim to your family, it can also get your Adult Sims pregnant with anyone at will...Even themselves!

I don't know if anyone else posted this, but you don't have to use Kaching to get all of your money... the cheat motherlode will get you 50,000 Simoleans!

Oh, and you CAN delete your Sim, but after you delete him, you have to save and go back into the neighborhood screen, and then go back into the house. Your Sim's mood will be full. :D

I finally got around to playing the SIMS 2 yesterday. After a long-awaited installation of extra RAM I was able to get it and I have to say I've BEEN disappointed but we shall see what happens once I try to get extra money. That's the big thing with me. I want to be able to buy things for my sims. Build big houses and furnish them, etc. And with a money cheat, if it works, then great.

All this talk and product bombardment has gotten my Sim's obsession going once more. I even played 2 hours of Unleashed (last expansion pack I got..heh) and then went to the Apple store with my dad to check out the Mini's.

I also have the game... very addicting. I put Snape and Fleur together and they have ugly kids.... :rotfl: I also put alot figure skaters on it. My one Sim Ashley has 17 kids.... My Ukrainian ice-dancer Sim Ruslan Goncharov has 10 out of marriage kids. The most beautiful Sim I have made is Lyra, the daughter of Jude Law, and Dagmara Dominyck.... All of the men like her. I have never seen such a beautiful Sim ever. She has pale skin, curly black hair, and green eyes. I will post a pic of her eventually.... She is going to marry the Grim Reaper or the Social Bunny. Don't get your Sim pregnant by the Sim Shrink, they are *****! My Sim Ashley did that and I whacked her son when he was a teenager b/c he is hideous.... He looked like a gorilla.

Here's some stuff about Bella Goth for people who have been asking:

With the boolProp cheat (ctrl-alt-c to open the cheat window), you can add the Pleasantview Bella Goth to one of your Plesantview families, but she'll die as soon as you save, quit, and re-enter the game (her game file has her as a dead person).

There is also another Bella Goth who's a townie in Strangetown. The patch makes it easier to find Bella (just go to a community lot or watch for her to walk by, and you can talk to her, move her in to your family, etc.) She doesn't have any relationships with anyone in Pleasantview (including Mortimer) though. Anything about her being a fake and that her family will figure it out isn't right, it's just that she has no pre-established relationships with anyone in the Pleasantville neighborhood.

Btw, Elena_Berezhnaya, I don't believe it's possible to marry either the Grim Reaper or the Social Bunny.

Edit: It is possible to marry the Grim Reaper using the BoolProp cheat (and the Tombstone of L&D which is created by that cheat.)
Edit to the edit: I don't think you can *marry* the Grim, but you can have a child by him.

what about Money cheats? I can't seem to make enough money fast enough to build a nice house or do anything like that. Any cheats for that?

There are two money cheats I know of. The best one is:

(1) Press CTRL + Shift + C and in the text bar enter the following: motherlode

This gives you 50 000 simoleans.

or

(2) Press CTRL + Shift + C and enter: kaching

This only gives you a 1000 bucks though.

I was playing the Sims as usual, saved, and returned to the neighborhood. But when I returned to the neighborhood, ALL of my houses were gone. I've checked and all of the files are still there (as are all of the families in the Family Bin) but they're not showing up in the neighborhood. It's like they're completely gone. Has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone else know how to get them back?

I had this problem once myself - one of my houses simply disappeared into thin air. After exiting the game and restarting it, it reappeared though. So, all I can suggest is restarting the game to see if the houses are still gone. If they are you might want to download this (http://thesims2.ea.com/update/) patch from the official Sims 2 website. I can't see your problem listed but hopefully that will clear things up.

Well, this isn't entirely true. While Pleasantview Bella dies after you reenter the lot, this is easily fixed with SimPE (http://www.sims.ambertation.de/) by removing the "I am Dead" token that Bella possesses under the "Neighborhood/Memory" option. Then you can go about giving her a personality.

Strangetown Bella, contrary to popular belief, is NOT the real Bella. This is just something Maxis put into appease us, but the Bella in Pleasantview and the Bella in Strangetown actually have different noses. The Bella in Pleasantview has a family tree, she will have memories of what happened to her relatives since you started the game (i.e. Cassandra getting married, Alexander getting an A+...) and will recognize Cassandra and Alexander as family. While she and Mortimer aren't married anymore...you can always remarry them.

Yes, but that requires hacks/mods, and not everyone wants to hack/mod their game. (I don't even use Boolprop.)

SimPE isn't a hack/mod, it's an editing program. If you DO get Bella from Strangetown, she won't recognize Cassandra and Alexander as Family and she won't have a family tree. You'd have better luck recreating Bella in CAS.

I love the game although it is really, really slow to load. I love the multiple levels of the houses. I can't wait for the Sims 2 University to come out.
