RainbowBrite1315 July 11th, 2003, 5:36 pm What FF games have you played and which is your favorite?
I've played 3, 7, 8, and 10. FFX has awesome cut scenes and a good story but as far a story goes XIII is my favorite.
big_cho_fan July 11th, 2003, 5:42 pm I love Finally Fantasy so far FFX is my Fave. I'm looking forward to FFX-2 and FF crystal chronicles.
Amadeus July 11th, 2003, 5:48 pm I am not a fan... but I used to know someone who was a maniac.. all she would talk about was FF.... I first found out that such game existed because of her. and not only was she in love with the game, she was in love with the main character...(was his name Claud or something like that? it was FF7..) It was weird.. falling for a non-existing person...lol
invisablethestral July 11th, 2003, 6:13 pm FFVII was exceptional, very dark but the imagination in the storyline would of made a great novel. Cloud was the name of the character. I remember Ariel was another....Tina....RedXIII...cant remember the others. The summons were always impressive.
danwilkie July 11th, 2003, 6:32 pm I've completed 7, 8 and 10, and I'm halfway through 9 and 6.
7 is a classic and the storyline is as good as any book or film (except HP of course). I found a web page with loads of theories about the story of 7 that make the game seem twice as good because the story is so clever, I'll try to find the link.
8 was great - the best thing about it was Triple Triad
But I think my favourite is X, I can't wait for X-2.
It's weird seeing the FF characters in Kingdom Hearts, Evil Cloud.... *shudders*
Favourite FF characters anyone?
Squall and Cloud were good but they just annoyed me how they cut people off and particularly how Squall didn't respond to Rinoa
I think my favourite was probably Auron or Cid (from VII)
RainbowBrite1315 July 11th, 2003, 6:47 pm I wasn't too impressed with the FF movie...the computer graphics were great but the story was kinda lame. I wish they would make a story out of 8 or 10.
My fave characters are Squall, Rikku and Rinoa.
Auron was a balla!
invisablethestral July 11th, 2003, 7:10 pm Favourite Character: Sepiroth (sp) - The coolest bad guy :D
RainbowBrite1315 July 11th, 2003, 8:32 pm Who are your favorite villans??
I can't choose between Sephiroth and Seymour. Sephiroth was kinda sissy-psyco obessed with his mum Jenova but looks AWESOME! Seymour was just plain evil... muhahahaha
Fantasy Moon July 13th, 2003, 2:09 am Played & beaten: FF7, FF9, FFX
Played and still working on: FF8, FF Tactics, FF4 (but I have to borrow this one again)
I like FF7 and FFX the best. It's so sad when Sephiroth kills Aerith!
MollyWeasley22 July 16th, 2003, 5:11 pm *Falls off her seat*
Did someone say Final Fantasy? :D
*ish a very big fan of Final Fantasy*
I love the series. I thought the movie was pretty decent after watching it a few hundred times. Though, given there was something of a plot hidden in there with the eye-candy CGI. Shame they did the ending the way they did. I mean we all know Final Fantasy has a thing for death but they went over board with the movie.
My favorite game out of the series is so far a tie between Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy X. Both a great games, ten advanced the graphics ten fold and the story was excellent. I liked the change in music in how they used an Alternative/Rock sound for the Blitzball and for the fight against Braska's Final Aeon. Favorite characters from X would have to be Auron and Rikku.
Final Fantasy IX, had a great story and it was a lot of fun. I def. liked Freya the most out of all the characters as her saying is to be forgotten is worse than death, I can relate to that.. believe me... but the music as always was beautiful and even though the battle system was a repeated system it was still fun.
I cannot wait to play Crystal Chronicals for the NGC and FFX-2 for PS2.
I seen the opening video about a hundred times for FFX-2...Gotta love it :D
danwilkie July 16th, 2003, 6:04 pm The FFX-2 opening video?
Where can I get that?
I'll check Kazaa now...
Caycee July 17th, 2003, 10:29 am I've played 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Beaten 7 8 and 10. My favourite was FF7. I wish they would have made a sequel to it rather than FFX-2.
Picko July 17th, 2003, 10:39 am I've played FF 2,5,6,7 and 8. The only one that sucked was number 8.
danwilkie July 17th, 2003, 12:14 pm VIII didn't suck at all, its really underrated. Have you completed it? The card game was worth the money alone!
invisablethestral July 17th, 2003, 12:44 pm cant beat chocobos for ingames! how much fun were they in FF7? :D The card game....i was useless at it when they started to change rules in different regions - they werent rules, they were just cheating!
GReddy Supra July 17th, 2003, 4:36 pm i think the best still is Final Fantasy VII. One of the best story lines ever. That game is living proof that you don't need fancy graphics to have a good game. I can't wait for X-2 tho.
-GS
danwilkie July 17th, 2003, 8:31 pm ANYONE WHO HAS PLAYED FINAL FANTASY 7 MUST READ THIS WEB PAGE
THIS MAKES FINAL FANTASY VII's INCREDIBLE STORYLING SEEM TEN TIMES BETTER
SOME INCREDIBLE THEORIES ON HERE THAT SHOW YOU HOW CLEVER THE WRITERS WERE
http://biphome.spray.se/indish/analys.htm
Fantasy Moon July 18th, 2003, 12:43 am A sequel to FF7? Nnooooooo!!! There's too much to ruin with a sequel!
Draco is Hot July 18th, 2003, 4:33 am hello...well i don't really play the games myself but i'm really familiar with the plot and characters coz my bros play them a lot. i suck at RPG games...ehehehehe =/
i love Squall and Laguna! they rock. and oh Tidus is awesome!
Shikyo July 18th, 2003, 4:40 pm ::pounces:: Final Fantasy? Booyaka. I've played FFIV to FFX, though I've only beaten the later-day PSX ones and FFV. Mostly because my PS2's on the fritz, but I digress.
The idea of sequels scare me. Truly. For one thing, I hope that they never make a sequel to FFVII, though with the rumors with the new Sony handheld floating around, things look grim. I dunno, this might just be me, but consider: what could they do? There is nothing, I say, nothing that Squaresoft could do that could compare with years of plotting by hordes of fans. The Aeris Affair would, alone, cause no end of trouble: no matter if they bring her back for a sequel or leave her dead, someone's going to be ****** off.
FFX-2 looks horrible, the more I learn about it. Though the opening sequence is pure eyecandy and decently swank.
Oh, and Nanaki rocks. As does Auron and Rikku. As well as Freya Crescent. And Locke Cole, but as most people haven't experienced him, I'll move on. It's so hard to pick just one.
...
Dangit, now I really wanna play FFT again....
synaesthesia July 28th, 2003, 6:40 am My favourite character is Cid 8-)
big_cho_fan July 28th, 2003, 1:32 pm My favourite chatacter is squall and cloud I just love oversized swords, they look so cool.
FreyaCrescent July 28th, 2003, 2:24 pm Oh, and Nanaki rocks. As does Auron and Rikku. As well as Freya Crescent.
Well, thankyou very much! :p Har har.
I just beat FF9 this weekend, and I adored it. Yes, Freya is my favourite character. I'm still working on FF7, it's a real beast. FF8 kind of sucked in comparison, I'm not too fond of it. And I really like FFX. Lulu is just.. great ^_^
*Eternal*Doll* July 30th, 2003, 4:39 pm I've played FF7, FF8, FF9, and FF10, so far my favorite of all times is FF10, I thought the ending was kinda weird though...Anyway, I'm still trying to beat FF7 but it turns out it's real hard...I liked FF8 but it wasn't my favorite and I didn't really like FF9 at all...
DarkLordHarry July 30th, 2003, 11:11 pm i love the ff series also. my 2 favorites are ff7 and ff9. the chrono series is awesome also. chrono trigger is one of the best games of all time, and crono is one of my favorite characters in any video game.
yankes1903 August 6th, 2003, 1:08 am the only one i've ever played was 2, but i loved it. i've had the game for probably ten years and actually just beat it 2 weeks ago. i was so excited. i kept getting stuck and giving up for like a year or two. i've always wanted to play more of them though, maybe i will now after reading all this.
FlyingPhoenix August 6th, 2003, 1:19 pm I did play FF7, FF8, FF9, FF10 and
Mystic Quest, Secret of Mana and have FF6.
I played through FF7 and FF9, Mystic Quest and Secret of Mana.
Now to my by far favouriet game its FF7 there is no RPG out there which caught me like that. I bought it 1997 and needed till 2001 to get ride off it. I mean really ride. See all the secrets, not all but so that I could understand it. Its like a strange unclear windows this game it make you confused and you starts to ask what the hell they are playing. But now I know this is propably one off the amazings storys I ever played and this say something. No FF game after it could catch me like that I mean FF8 wasn't that difficult story not really there wasn't a hidding meaning and you didn't get at the end that you are not the real hero. I mean square did a great deal to slow the story plot down in FF8 and FF9(which I was greatly disapointment) FF9 appears like a little break to that heavy stuff which was in FF7.
At the first look FF7 is very much confusing but as fast as you get caught you get what this is all about.
I really hope that square will someday relace FF7 again but I speak about a vision which has much better graphics something what such a story deserve.
Just look today if I get today a RPG the graphic is great, amazing and yet I lay the pad down because the story don't caught me like FF8 and FF10. By FF9 this game was that short I didn't need to lay it down because I might be bored. By FF8 was it my problem to search things without any fun to sit there stupidy and search and search I mean this was by FF7 much more fun because there was a subplot. Though I adore the videos of FF8 especially the beginning is the highlight but still if you play it its kinda boring.
FF10 is again till a point nice but not that great. Nice videos and all this stuff even the story is kinda nice though on somepoints I just shake my head. I know FF7 was sometimes just like that but with stupid tactless charm of cloud you just sit there and laugh about it.
Alone how FF7 starts and how Cloud speak with Barret. Hey there is tension, fun but by FF8 or 10 is it too much willing to entertain not naturell.
How you see I really like this serie and I think I have to play FF6 someday because this I have heard is nearly so good like FF7 so just perfect for me.
Orcag August 6th, 2003, 1:38 pm I have FFIV,FFVIII, FFIX, I've beat FFVIII, and FFIX.
downding August 6th, 2003, 6:12 pm I don't have a playstation so I played all of them up to 6. I played a bit of 7 and 10 at friends' houses and stuff. The later ones are definitely cool in the music and graphics catagories but the early ones are good too.
Auror Fett September 7th, 2003, 1:55 am I love the FF series. I've played: FF7, FF8, FF9, and FF10. I've beaten: FF7, FF8, FF9, and FF10. My favorites of them is FF7 and FF9. The other ones out there look really dumb like FF6 and below. I'm looking forward to Final Fantasy X-2! Some of the cool characters I like are Sephoroth, Blank, Nanaki, and Amarant.
Auror Fett September 7th, 2003, 2:01 am I forgot to mention Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie! And, I heard a rumor that there's going to be another FF direct sequel besides FF X-2, I'm not sure to which one but I think it may be to FF7.
HannahStarr September 7th, 2003, 3:30 am There's a rumor that there will be a sequal to FF7, and no one from SquareEnix has discredited it yet! FF7 is my second favorite Final Fantasy, so I'll be pretty excited if it turns out to be true!
Anyway, back on topic. I've played Final Fantasy 4, 7, a *tiny* bit of 8, and 10. My favorite is 10, even though Tidus is a wuss. My least favorite, from what I've played and seen, is FF8. And I'm trying to save up to buy FF9, but with X-2 and FF Tactics Advanced coming out soon, that will have to wait :D
Tirwen Lupin September 7th, 2003, 10:19 pm Once again, I demonstrate my inexperience in video games! I only have FF10, and haven't even finished yet. I'm in the Calm Lands at the moment. But I really think this is a spectacular game. My favorite character is Auron.
RYOSUKE-TAKAHASHI7 September 8th, 2003, 12:00 am Actually Square is making sequels to their other projects besides
FFX ,
Kingdom Hearts 2
FF7
FF Tactics advance said to be sequel to Tactics ???????
HannahStarr September 8th, 2003, 10:46 pm Yes, I think FF Tactics Advanced is the sequel to FF Tactics. Read here:
Final Fantasy Tactics is being brought back, only to the Gameboy Advance, in a much anticipated and improved sequel, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.
The gem in the eyes of RPG fans everywhere, Final Fantasy, returns to Nintendo for the first time in nearly a decade. The portable sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics, being released for the Game Boy Advance, is officially named Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. The game is set to release on September 8, 2003.
It's from RPG Players Realm (http://www.rpgplayersrealm.com/) And I KNOW I read an article on FFVII-2 possible in the works, but I can't seem to find it. BTW, FF Tactics comes out today, w00t!
EDIT: Did a search on Google for FFVII-2, and I got this, posted back in May 2003: On the possibility of a Final Fantasy VII-2, Nomura said that the chances of it happening are unrealistic. Nomura explained that Final Fantasy X-2 was able to be released since it utilized the Final Fantasy X engine, allowing production of the game in one year at only half the usual development scale of a Final Fantasy title. However, to make Final Fantasy VII-2, everything would most likely have to be created again from scratch since the data from the original Final Fantasy VII cannot be used. Thus, producing a Final Fantasy VII-2 would require the development scale of a normal Final Fantasy title.
I also got this, posted in January 2003: In light of the new FF X-2 announcement, Yoshinori Kitase is considering a sequel to the immensely popular Final Fantasy VII. Apparently, much of the staff agrees with this, as does Tetsuya Nomura. Though, Yoshinori stated that he _did not_ want to let down legions of fans with a poor sequel, thus no plans are set in stone.
From http://www.gamespot.com/ps/rpg/finalfantasy7/news_6026421.html and http://www.solinari.com/games/gamenews.php/15/198, respectively. So, it looks like it isn't in the works as of May 2003
HannahStarr September 10th, 2003, 1:17 am So screw me for double posting - my last one from yesterday is long enough! I was rereading over the thread, and someone mentioned about if they made a sequal to FFVII, how fans would go berserk if Aeris was brought back. I totally agree on that - I mean, every hardcore FF fan went nuts when Kingdom Hearts came out and Aeris (Aerith) was in it, alive and well. It was really scary, my friend was going wacko, and she doesn't even have a PS2 to play KH on!
RYOSUKE-TAKAHASHI7 September 11th, 2003, 2:45 am I wonder what Kingdom Hearts 2 would be like get rid of Sora and put in Cloud
Or Squall as the Main Hero
ArmachiA September 11th, 2003, 7:01 am ohhh I am soooo excited about FFX-2 you guys just have no idea. haha. I have played almost all the FF's and own most of them (I don't have a lot of the offshoots like FF: Tatics).
Check out Koda Kumi's video called "Real EMOTION" at http://www.ffx2.net/ (It's not avialable in the states or available for purchase anywhere... so is it okay to post where people can download it???) It's got a bunch of Sneek preveiws PLUS it's the theme song to FFX-2 (It's in Japanese in the video, but there is an English version for when the game gets shipped in December). Totaly worth seeing! It made me drool when I saw it. You can also get the English version of the song there (AGAIN not available in the states)... It's an awesome song too, was a big hit in Japan.
My favorite game is FF9... though FF10 runs a very close second...I love them all in different ways... hehe.
Is anyone excited about FF11?????? OMG!!! Online gaming in the Final Fantasy world? That should be cool
Auror Fett September 15th, 2003, 2:04 am Yeah, I can't wait until X-2 comes out either! As for FF 7-2...I've heard so many rumors on this, it is quite possible there would be one because, heck, even OPM(which stands for Official Playstation Magazine) had an article on it. Now that right there signals there is a strong chance that this rumor is quite true. Anyway, I think Final Fantasy 11 is also going to be awesome although I'm really into X-2. Just think, it's an online game. And you and your friends can play together and have up to 17 members in a single party online!!! Man is this going to be cool! Oh, I forgot to mention that those of you who don't know, ther official releasee date for X-2 should be December 5, 2003. It's on my Christmas wish-list, hehe.
Jill November 12th, 2003, 5:58 pm Well I am not sure this should go here and if not then it can go anywhere, it fact it can even be deleted if its not a good thread (only kidding about the last remark ).
I have been searching the web for picture computer graphics and general information on the game Final Fantasy XII and found information reguarding the delayed release date due to the Dragon Warrior V release as shown in the link below. The release date for Japan has been given but for usa and europe there has as yet been no confirmation of when the game will be released. I know its now not going to be released by mid-next year and that annoys me a great deal.
http://www.rpgamer.com/games/ff/ff12/ff12.html
There is also a very small review and poster to promote the game.
Finding information reguarding Final Fantasy X11 based on what the story is about and what the graphics look like has proven difficult. I keep finding sites but there all in Japanese and I can not speak or read Japanese.
So has anyone found any useful sites in english/usa so that I can at least get sneak at what the game is going to look like and read the previews.
Jillyweed, would be very greatful of any assistance to this, thankyou.
p.s. looking at the graphics on the Japanese version makes me cringe. Do the graphics change depending upon which country your in, to suit that countries style?
HannahStarr November 12th, 2003, 10:19 pm Here's what I've found in FFXII:
- Supervision Production: Jun Akiyama (FFVII, Vagrant Story, Kingdom Hearts)
- Character design & 3d Map Design: Akihiko Yoshida (FFT, Vagrant Story)
- Art Direction: Hideo Minaba (FFT, FFIX)
- Promo picture: here (http://www.rpgplayersrealm.com/show_images.php?imageid=418)
- From RPG Player's Realm (http://www.rpgplayersrealm.com):
It looks like Final Fantasy XII is following the trend of every other game and has been "set back" by an increasingly large amount. The proposed Japanese released date of this game was originally set for April of 2004. However, Square-Enix has pushed it back almost a whole year to March of 2005. Talk about a minor setback!
So whats the problem now? Well, Square says they are having game development problems, and the first proposed release date might conflict with other games. One of the games they mentioned was the remake of "Dragon Quest V".
Supposing it actually comes out in March of 2005 in Japan, it looks like we'll have a late November release later that year for the US version.
It doesn't really say anything that you haven't mentioned, Jill, but I'll do a thourough search on the net for some info.
EDIT: Here's some information found on Square Universe (http://www.squareuniverse.com): An image of what could be the Final fantasy XII logo surfaced in a Korean magazine over at Ruliweb. The Korean site has posted what purports to be the very first glimpse of the logo for Final Fantasy XII. From the looks of it, the logo pictures Odin with two swords in hand. What bearing this has on the story is of course uncertain at this point.
The answer is more simple than one would expect. Square as usual is ahead in the game. Although the work had already begun months ago and the programming specifications of the game almost complete for it's initiation, the actual planning phase has somewhat slowed down. This whole fiasco regarding Fantasy XI and the Play-Online network took precedents. Plus the fact that in the last 3 years 3 series appeared one after the other in the form of IX to XI as promised by Square in the Square Millennium Conference of 1999.
With the stabilization of Final fantasy XI and Play-Online network, things looked for the better. But regular fans of the series around the world (approx. 79% of the giant franchise players) feared an end of the series as on-line play seemed to take over the traditional gaming genre. But in a recent statement, the series' director Hironobu Sakaguchi wanted to undertake a somewhat positive outlook for all gamers of the series and indicated that he already has a 12th installment not just planned but actually in production in order to calm and create an assertive feeling amongst potential hardcore Final Fantasy fans. Was that too late a step or just the right time?! In a recent interview a spokesman from Square mentioned that work was proceeding on schedule so far.
For the first time in the history of Final Fantasy, there will be not one but two equivalent producers. Responsible for the project is Hiroyuki Itou who already made a name for himself in the form of Final Fantasy IX as well as Yasumi Matsuno known for his roles as the director/conductor for the teams responsible for Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story; thus both reporting to Sakaguchi, though the later will probably participate in the "cutting" edges role. Sakaguchi still holds the position of President Square USA operating from his Hawaii office.
I attached the alleged logo below. It's really dark, but it's the best I could do. The website mentioned in this first paragraph is in Japanese, I think, but you can find it here (http://ruliweb.intizen.com/main/index.htm).
HannahStarr November 13th, 2003, 9:44 pm OK, I swear this is the last thing I'm going to say about FFXII today. There was an article at RPG Player's Realm (http://www.rpgplayersrealm.com), which says this: 2 WORDS AND A NUMBER:...FINAL...FANTASY...XII...
Yes, yes, behold! Japanese gaming magazine, Shonen Jump, has managed to leak out a few little tidbits about Square Enix's upcoming installation in the enduring Final Fantasy series.
The two characters presented are Van, the male, and Ashe, the female. As you can also see, returning are other FF staples: chocobos and airships. No moogle sightings yet, but no one knows what the future holds. And the funky pirate thing...ignore him.
There was a picture along with the article, which you can find here (http://www.angelfire.com/indie/haven1/ffxii.jpg).
PhilDM November 13th, 2003, 9:51 pm Anyone remember FF3 for SNES?
I <3 Kefka! Plus Sabin I think is quite possibly the most awesome SNES RPG character ever. AND they could ALL to magic!!!!!!
Jill November 13th, 2003, 11:38 pm Anyone remember FF3 for SNES?
I <3 Kefka! Plus Sabin I think is quite possibly the most awesome SNES RPG character ever. AND they could ALL to magic!!!!!!
I don't go that far back when it comes to FF games. I started at FF7 and went from there.
Once again, I demonstrate my inexperience in video games! I only have FF10, and haven't even finished yet. I'm in the Calm Lands at the moment. But I really think this is a spectacular game. My favorite character is Auron.
If you need any help or haven't finished it yet I can help out when ever you need it as I managed to finish it. That says something to me because normally I get too used to the format and find myself never completing it even though I enjoy the role playing game.
Yes Tidus is a wuss as well. I started the game again because I got so annoyed at the fact that I could not get this one avatar at the beginning. It was so difficult the first time around because I had not got used to the format, so I missed it. The worst thing is that you could not go back and just have another go at it because the avatar didn't appear when I kept trying again, it kept giving me all these other things, so I gave up and carried. When I started again, I made sure I got it this time. I built up my powers in the field of combat zones before reaching that avatar. Its really handy to do that, build up your reserves, that really helps...
That had to be the best catch I got in the game.
Azimuth January 17th, 2004, 8:50 pm I've played III, VII, VIII, IX and X.
My favourite is IX. I didn't really like VII or VII that much because they were too futuristic and not 'fantasy' enough. I prefer more cutesy games like FF IX. Plus, it had amazing music (but then again, they all do). FF X had the most amazing FMV cut-scenes I have ever seen. That game was so beautiful. Not quite as good as FF IX though.
playmaker9 January 17th, 2004, 10:16 pm ive played I,II,VII,VIII,IX,X,X-2,Tactics, and tactics advanced. i also have IV but i haven't played it yet. i would say X-2 is my fave - and no, its not b/c of the girls. i love the quick battle system and such, not to mention that the story line is maybe the 2nd best of the series next to 7.
cheers!
Kaonashi January 18th, 2004, 6:24 am *peeks out*
Did someone mention...Final Fantasy?
Played 7-10-2, getting 5 and 6 now, love all the games for different reasons.
www.ff12.com has posted new pics of characters in the game to come. I haven't played FF11 because...hmmm...just not interested in playing a FF game online, I'm waiting for WoW.
But so far 12 looks like it's going to be good!
SamanthaRose January 19th, 2004, 11:40 pm Hello..
I am a huge FFX and X-2 fan.. I liked them.
Trinka February 13th, 2004, 11:20 pm The only one I've played was FFX and I love it! Some people think that it focuses too much on the graphics, but, heck! That's my favorite part about it! A game should not only be fun but beautiful! hehehe My boyfriend and I are going to buy FFX-2 soon. It looks better than FFX. The whole dress-sphere thing looks very cool. You can have Yuna, Rikku and Paine dress up as Samurai! There's nothing cooler than that!
I've heard that FF7 is the best in the series. Should we buy that one two? I know the graphics aren't as good, but is the story line worth it?
Trinka
HannahStarr February 14th, 2004, 11:52 pm Trinka: yes, you MUST have Final Fantasy VII in your collection. It is the best FF ever. The storyline is absolutely amazing. The graphics are horrible as compared to those of FFX, FFX-2, or FFXI, but once you get past that...
The Grim February 15th, 2004, 10:38 am Have only played old-school games, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Finished 4, 6, 7 and 9. Couldn't stand 8 for some reason, got to disc 3 and gave up.
Graphics on the new ones look great from what i've seen at friend's place.
Have to agree with HannahStarr, FFVII is a must get... greatest game ever... can't wait for advent children!!!
Trinka February 15th, 2004, 11:12 pm Trinka: yes, you MUST have Final Fantasy VII in your collection. It is the best FF ever. The storyline is absolutely amazing. The graphics are horrible as compared to those of FFX, FFX-2, or FFXI, but once you get past that...
*sighs* I think I can get past that, whether or not my fiancee can... lol I have heard that often, so I really do need to get it...but I don't really have the time to play a lot of games right now...stupid college!! Thanks.
Kaonashi February 16th, 2004, 10:42 pm Try 6 and 7. Its' debatable which one is better. Some people say 7, some say 6 (because of Kefka). Play them both, they're excellent.
Tane February 21st, 2004, 9:00 pm Final Fantasy X2 came out today and well I bought it so if you don't see me for the next 48 hours you know why. Can't wait for some free TV time to play it though. My friends need to get away from that TV and the soaps before I get a chance to play it.
Graphics look amazing and the game play a little more complicated from what I can see. I just  Final Fantasy.
There watching a DVD so I can't play it. :upset:
Kaonashi February 22nd, 2004, 3:55 am FFX-2 is the most silliest, engrossing game I've ever played. At first i wasn't going to give it a go because I heard a lot of negative things about it, but i rented it, and it's silly and fun, plus you can control what ending you get.
jennymac February 22nd, 2004, 4:32 am big fan of FF9 and FF10. i've played 11 a little too. as much as i LOVED 10, i can't stand 10-2. 9 was the first one i ever played and it's hard for me to go backwards graphics wise, though i'd love to play 7. i think though 9 is my fave. zidane was just too cute...although tidus is a cutie too. :eyebrows: ;)
mina February 22nd, 2004, 6:44 am can't wait for advent children!!!
I have heard that it will come out in the United States on DVD form in April. Anyone else heard anything? I would be interested in seeing it.
Trinka February 22nd, 2004, 4:19 pm Advent Children...is that the next FF movie? The Spirits Within was really good as far as graphics go, but I was really ****** off by the ending. I'm a sappy ending person, and when things don't turn out just how I want them...*cries* lol
My finace just bought FF7 for us last night! We haven't had time to start playing it yet, though, because we have a lot of homework this weekend *grumbles* I have to draw a floor plan for the staging of the play Our Town for my Dramatic Arts class, and it's a pain in the butt, let me tell you!
Catgirl February 22nd, 2004, 7:54 pm How did this thread escape my attention? I'm a FF manic. I love FFIX.
My favorite FF character is Aeris.
I can't wait to see advent children. I hope they don't screw it up like they did with The Spirits Within. At least they are basing it on the FF series this time. TSW was nothing to do with FF, apart from the name.
(BTW Please sign up to the site in my sig. It's a really good FF site. It isn't my site, but I moderate there.)
HannahStarr February 23rd, 2004, 12:49 am Advent Children promises to be a good movie. I haven't seen Spirits Within because I haven't rean a positive review about it yet.

I heard that it will be coming out in Japan this summer. April seems a bit too early.
Here's a really good Advent Children site: Advent Children.net (http://www.adventchildren.net)

I just hope they don't destroy FF7's storyline. If they end up bringing Aeris back from the dead, it kinda defeats the purpose of what happened in FF7.
Just hope that Tifa is in this!!! :eyebrows:
Catgirl February 24th, 2004, 4:07 pm Well they seem to be bringing Sephiroth back from the dead. Then again they did do that in the game without an explanation. (He appeared to have died in a flashback.)
Cyrus February 27th, 2004, 4:12 pm I LOVE FF!, VIII is definately my favourite, although i was extremly pleased with X, after nine was so disapointing. FFVII was the first i played and i was hooked...yeah, best Computer game series ever. Has anyone played Crono trigger or wild arms?
HannahStarr February 27th, 2004, 10:07 pm I actually like FFIX - it's probably my second favorite (after X).
Never played Wild Arms, although I have played Chrono Trigger. Good game. :agree:
The Grim March 3rd, 2004, 7:13 am i kinda liked IX as well, reminded of FFIV which is one of my favs behind VII of course...
been meaning to play chrono trigger for a while now, worth playing?
HannahStarr March 3rd, 2004, 9:38 pm Absolutely. Chrono Trigger is an awesome game. The graphics aren't great, but that shouldn't stop you from playing it. :)
The Grim March 4th, 2004, 4:00 am seeing how i'm playing ffvi again, graphics shouldn't be much of a problem... finding a copy of trigger would be the major problem
HannahStarr March 4th, 2004, 9:56 pm You can buy Chrono Trigger along with Final Fantasy IV - it's a packaged set called "Final Fantasy Chronicles." I could be wrong, but I *think* you can get Chronicles for about $20 (in the US). But since it's an old-school PS one game, it might be hard to find.
The Grim March 5th, 2004, 5:39 am wouldn't mind getting 'chronicles' since i quite liked iv but not even sure if that was released in aus.
prob have to play on an emulator but i'd rather play on the ps1, playing these games on the computer just doesn't feel 'right'
Catgirl March 6th, 2004, 3:56 pm I got FFX2 the other day. I haven't played on it much yet, but I'm a big fan of the Job system, so I think I'm going to like it. You can guess from the attire of the main characters what the target audience is. Rikku's practically naked. Why do they always have to have girls in skimpy outfits?
GryffindorGr March 6th, 2004, 5:38 pm I got FFX2 the other day. I haven't played on it much yet, but I'm a big fan of the Job system, so I think I'm going to like it. Ohh! I got it too. Just recently but I haven't played it either. I loved FF7, FF8, FFX and watched FF9 a bit. Just played the first 3 adamantly and religiously. They were great. I loved the storyline in the first two I mentioned and FFX rocked with graphics. FFX2 was a bit disappointing because you can only play with 3 girls but that's okay. It still looks pretty good.
I know what you mean about the skimpy outfit thing. It's probably to satiate the male audience--young and old.
Catgirl March 6th, 2004, 5:57 pm You're missing out. FFIX is brillient. It's my favorite out of the lot.
GryffindorGr March 6th, 2004, 6:16 pm You're missing out. FFIX is brillient. It's my favorite out of the lot.
Oh I know. I saw the whole storyline (watch b/f play it instead) and it's terribly romantic! :)
It's wonderful.
Catgirl March 6th, 2004, 6:39 pm It's kind of like the older ***. There is even a touch of HP about it. I just love fantasy thats full of castles and heros and monsters. A lot of the later *** have a sci-fi quality about them.
I just adore Vivi.
jennymac March 12th, 2004, 3:06 am ffix was so wonderful. i agree it was terribly romantic. i just fell in love with zidane.
FarhanaK March 12th, 2004, 4:02 am I have Final Fantasy X.Has anyone have Final XI yet???
jennymac March 13th, 2004, 3:06 am got it! it's great. my fiance is addicted to it though so i don't get to play it very much :(
for anyone who may see me, i'm on the asura server, in windurst, name is meilikki
i honestly try not to party cause i'm just not that social and i'm afraid i'll screw up. lol. but i don't mind talking for a while. and anyone who is a noob and needs to know anything about the game, give me a /tell and i'll be glad to help ya. you can contact me on aim or msn messenger also.
K.K. Slider March 14th, 2004, 4:55 am I've only played Tactics and I beat it. It was pretty great! :D
Sheildmaiden22 March 15th, 2004, 4:09 am I've been a fan of the FF series since I was 12 and got the first game for NES. Still have it too. Since then, I've played 7, 8, 9, and have Origins but haven't had time to play. I hope to get FF Chronicles soon too.
Truth be told, I can't really pick a favorite game out of the series. All of them have great stories and amazing graphics. Most recently I beat 9 and it was probably my favorite ending. So romantic...
jennymac March 16th, 2004, 5:54 pm has anyone played crystal chronicles yet? is it any good?
Catgirl March 16th, 2004, 6:00 pm Is CC out in Britain yet? If not, when will it be?
Tane March 17th, 2004, 8:37 am Is CC out in Britain yet? If not, when will it be?
CC came out last week in Britain. Looks ok but the graphics seem to be missing out on it a little.
I saw the FF Anime on the shelves too but was not really impressed with the way it looked so I left it there on the shelf. I would like to hear more about it first before going out and getting the Anime.
Catgirl March 17th, 2004, 8:06 pm Ooh, I must go out and buy it.
They should have given us enough time to complete FFX-2 first.
HarryLass March 17th, 2004, 11:48 pm How did I miss this thread? I'm an obessed fangirl. I have all of the FF games except for III (including Tactics and Tatics Advance) and lots of other Sqaresoft goodies, like Crono Trigger/Cross and Kingdom Hearts. I've only really played FF IX, X, X-2 Crono Trigger and KH, though. The ending to X made me teary (twice!) and I'm completely engrossed in the games. Since it was the first RPG I've played, FFX gets a tender place in my heart. It had the best plot twist of all time, though I haven't seen enough of FFVII to compare.
Yeah. That's all.
....
Seymour is so cute for a pixelated villain!
jennymac March 19th, 2004, 12:25 am loved kingdom hearts. it was cute. can't wait for the 2nd one.
i thought kuja was kinda cute for a villian. but i think i like his bro better! zidane....
Joseph Potter March 19th, 2004, 12:31 am I really dont like Final Fantasy IX that much.My favorite would have to be Final Fantasy VII ,I dont know why I just like everything about the game.I Also bought Final Fantasy CC the other day and so far what I played it is cool.
Falchman March 19th, 2004, 3:31 pm I have played FFX and FFx-2
Both alot of fun,
Though perhaps part 2 was a little short...
Is it worth getting ff7 ?
jennymac March 22nd, 2004, 4:23 am i've heard alot of people say ff7 was the best game of the series. the story line is supposed to be amazing. unfortunately i've been spoiled by graphics and i just can't go back to the old block people. :)
The Grim March 29th, 2004, 9:06 am most ppl that are into FF pretty much agree ff7 IS the best. check out the poll at gamefaqs.com today (29/3).
if you can stand the 'poor' blocky graphics, you'll see what all the fuss is about
HannahStarr March 29th, 2004, 5:55 pm Yep, FF7 is probably the best. Although, it's not as lighthearted as some of the other ***. The graphics are pretty icky, too, but don't let it bother you. :D
Nanaki March 30th, 2004, 5:58 am 7 has the best storyline - i like a darker story, but i LOVE X as well, and i want to marry Kimahri. Tee hee.
studmaster3000 April 2nd, 2004, 5:22 am I have played all of them, and so far FF VII is the best, hands down.
Snapefan April 3rd, 2004, 8:15 am I haven't played all of them, only from VI to X , and my favourite is FFVII; I loved also FFX, though (Auron rocks!)
HannahStarr July 30th, 2004, 4:34 pm *bump*
This thread really needs to be revived. :D
I have a question for anyone who has played Final Fantasy VIII. I'm stuck fighting Sorceress Adel in Lunatic Pandora, and I was wondering if anybody has some tips. Her Ultima spell completely wipes my party out in one hit! I've tried casting Protect and Regen on my party, but it doesn't help much. Any suggestions?
Classical_Wizar July 30th, 2004, 4:37 pm gamefaqs might help you, i tried to use the spell that would be close to life 2 or was it 3 that made sure you would come back if you died. Sorry been a while
DragonBlk17 July 30th, 2004, 4:53 pm My favorite FF games are VII,VIII,X, and X-2, I haven't beaten any of them yet but I'm trying to
Classical_Wizar July 30th, 2004, 5:01 pm love them all, love the old school ones too 2 and 3 or 4 and 6 for the japanese versions. Like 7 too and hum need to go back to x, x2
morsmordre09 July 30th, 2004, 5:05 pm I love all of the final fantasy series. My favourite ones being VII and IX. i played them both at least 3 times each!!:tu:
Snidget July 30th, 2004, 5:10 pm I did play the old school one's, but I guess I didn't care for it much because sort of shied away from the series. Now that my bro is playing them though, I'm loving the graphics and game play. I just might take the series up again.
Azimuth July 30th, 2004, 5:22 pm Gah, what is it with people and IX? It's the best one!
FFXII looks absolutely amazing. It looks like X - realistic characters, set in a fantasy world. VIII was realistic characters in a realistic world, IX was fantasy characters in a fantasy world. Although I love IX the most, I think XII could beat it. I love the fact that it's based around airships and the sky! It looks so beautiful! I can't wait! :D
lady_yuna July 31st, 2004, 1:49 am i love final fantasy!!!!!!!! i have played x and x-2 and have seen 6 7 8 9 played
no_braine July 31st, 2004, 1:57 am with me...it's an ongoing battle between 7 8 and 10. just depends on my mood, theyre all great
Classical_Wizar July 31st, 2004, 2:03 am Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children to be released as a straight DVD in 2004 Japan. Pity was hoping to see it in the theater...well I guess it doesn’t affect me either way somehow doubt that it would have been played in the state. Hoping the Japanese version has subtitles maybe try to get my hand on it if the DVD isn’t released stateside.
~oSiRiS~ July 31st, 2004, 2:49 am I have a question for anyone who has played Final Fantasy VIII. I'm stuck fighting Sorceress Adel in Lunatic Pandora, and I was wondering if anybody has some tips. Her Ultima spell completely wipes my party out in one hit! I've tried casting Protect and Regen on my party, but it doesn't help much. Any suggestions?
I just finished going through FFVIII again today.
Tips for fighting Adel. Hrmm... What I did was cast Regen on Rinoa and the crew. Then I casted Aura on Squall. A few Limit breaks later and she was history. Be careful though, two of Squall's limit breaks will hit Rinoa too. So make sure you give her back the HP you just beat out of her.
I played a few of the old nintendo Final Fantasy games. I do not remember if I liked them or not. Which is probably a no if I can't remember.
I only played about 5 hours into FFVII. I did not like the look of the game. I like the realistic looking characters of the newer games better. All my friends said it was the best. But I never got into the story so I never finished it.
I haven't played any of the newer ones. I am not one for the run around in a field to boost stats and the take turns to fight style of games. So its a rarity that I play one of these games. Though looking back now. I have sure played alot of them for not liking that style of games.
FFVIII was my favorite of the ones I played. I think its also the only one I every finished all the way through. I enjoyed the storyline. Though the only reason I think I liked it soo much is that my personality is so close to Squall's it's scary.
LucySnape July 31st, 2004, 2:53 am Yeah Final Fantasy VII is my fave by far!!
http://www.xanga.com/mrs_snape
lady_yuna July 31st, 2004, 4:51 am i do have to add that final fantasy has the best rpg game soundtrack out thare ^.^ next to kingdom haarts squareinx knows whats sell and i want a choabo!!!!!!!!
Classical_Wizar August 1st, 2004, 7:45 am Update on Final Fantasy XII
Yasumi Matsuno, head of the development team of Final Fantasy XII, recently discussed his special project in an interview with the Japanese magazine The Play. While the developer kept some things to himself, he was eager to share some information concerning the story and the characters.
According to Matsuno, the Judges were once legal masters who presided over courtrooms. As Arcadia evolved, so did the Judges. Their roles shifted from legal authorities to political leaders with absolute control. In Final Fantasy XII, the sky serves as the symbol of freedom, as it is above the political turmoil on land. Airships, as the newest form of transportation in Ivalice, are the ultimate symbols of freedom, which is why Vaan desires to have his own airship someday.
Matsuno explained that Vaan and Pannero are two young people who want to isolate themselves from the political upheaval in Ivalice. In contrast, Fran and Balthier are politically conscious adults who cannot escape from world affairs. Vaan sees the pair as two people who have won their freedom in the world.
Final Fantasy XII will have approximately 100 hours of playtime, and dedicated players can invest 150 hours in the game. While the developers are keeping certain details about character development and battle elements to themselves, as they intend to reveal their secrets right before the game's release, Matsuno promised that the game would delight veterans without baffling newcomers. The game received many positive responses at E3, and Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy, told Matsuno that he believes Final Fantasy XII is definitely a true Final Fantasy game.
Final Fantasy XII will be released in Japan sometime during the winter of 2004 or the spring of 2005. A North American release will follow source:rpgamer.com
ARAGORN78 August 6th, 2004, 10:37 am A theatrical release for Final Fantasy VII Advent Children may not be entirely out of the question, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada told Impress Game Watch recently."
Just after a week of announcing the special edition screening of Advent Children at the Venice International Film Festival, Yoichi had also announced that both Nomura and himself are contemplating releasing Advent Children on the silver screen as already set DVD and PSP releases. (There is also no word yet on those announced DVD and PSP release dates, but Japan is defintely getting a release this year.) Not only the idea of AC being screened at movie theaters but also as in digital download form; that's an interesting way to promote the movie.
Advent Children is still delayed in production due to Tetsuya's bad health
Advent children will propably be as long as a normal movie. also with the success the co might decide to remake the game into a movie.
_Nostalgia_ August 6th, 2004, 1:34 pm I was a great fan of the first three released onto Playstation. VII is over-rated, because it was the first to really push bondaries, but it's still a very good game. IX is probably my personal favourite. I enjoyed the throwback to a more magical theme and while the final boss, who comes out of nowhere with no good reason, is retarded, the game as a whole is superb. VIII was also a thoroughly enjoyable experience, although in the end, it was a little lacking too.
Final Fantasy X was beautiful but lacking. Not really worth my time. Story was bland, religious allegory was boring and the temples were bad experiences in general. Nothing stood out except for the in-game graphics and the cut-scenes. Not a good game. FFX-2 I had to return, as it was much of the same, with little improvements but the same boring atmosphere.
Final Fantasy VI is what games should be made like. Challenging, intriguing and Kefka. Brilliant game and what people should be checking instead of what Square makes now. Obviouslay, the graphics are dated as hell, but it's still a great experience.
I no longer have any interest in the franchise. Which is sad. But considering I remember games VI to IX so fondly, I'll always respect Square for those creations.

That would be REALLY cool if they made the game into a movie. I still can't beat it so it would be really interesting to see the rest of the game that I didn't beat.
Lord Nicholai August 6th, 2004, 3:47 pm I cant wait for FFI and II on the GBA :D
winter snow August 7th, 2004, 12:39 am Gah, what is it with people and IX? It's the best one!
FFXII looks absolutely amazing. It looks like X - realistic characters, set in a fantasy world. VIII was realistic characters in a realistic world, IX was fantasy characters in a fantasy world. Although I love IX the most, I think XII could beat it. I love the fact that it's based around airships and the sky! It looks so beautiful! I can't wait! :D
FF12 all the way! I agree with you Azimuth. I must get my hot little hands on this gem! The game looks awesome! You can't go wrong with airships.
I don't know which one I would say is my favorite. I did enjoy IX though. I had a really hard time getting into VIII. I have to say, VII is the first video game that made me cry. (Aeris' Death) Sepheroth (sp?)you piece of scum!
I'm really looking forward to XII, as it looks like they're making a departure from what they normally do. I'm interested to see where they bring the franchise this time.
Nagisa August 9th, 2004, 8:13 pm I loved this series. I played and beat Final Fantasy I (I still don't understand the time paradox), II and III (the Japanese ones, translated by fans), IV (released as 2 in the US -- I've played the uncut version, again translated by fans), V (translated by fans), VI (III in the US), VII, VIII, IX, Tactics, and Origins.
FF III (the Japanese one, not FF VI) is the most overlooked of the series. It was by far the best for the NES, and had a wonderful storyline, but since they never officially released it out here, almost no one knows it existed. FF V was great, too.
I haven't been able to play X or X-2, due to lack of a playstation, or XI, due to poor computer capabilities. How are they, compared to the others?
VII is my favourite. Whenever I get into a debate with someone as to whether video games can be called art, I use Final Fantasy VII and Planescape: Torment as my proof that they can be. It's a beautiful story, with interesting characters, intelligent themes, and a lot of imagination. Cloud is my favourite character in the series.
The anime version I saw (Legend of the Crystals) was awful. I haven't seen this new one yet. The movie wasn't awful, but it wasn't fantastic either (except for graphics). It was a hybrid of Hollywood and Final Fantasy, so it was better than Hollywood, but worse than Final Fantasy.
*reminisces about long hours wasted on these wonderful games :)*
HannahStarr August 9th, 2004, 11:30 pm I haven't been able to play X or X-2, due to lack of a playstation, or XI, due to poor computer capabilities. How are they, compared to the others?
I haven't played X-2 or XI (no interest in either of them), but FFX is fantastic. It's also the easiest FF that I know of. :D The graphics are superb, the CG scenes are awesome, and the storyline itself is very beautiful. It reminds me of FFVIII, only with a bittersweet ending.
Nagisa August 10th, 2004, 1:05 am Thanks HannahStarr (great avatar/sig image, by the way!).
I haven't played X-2 or XI (no interest in either of them)
Are you avoiding them, or just not interested? Is there something spectacularly bad about them I should know?
HannahStarr August 10th, 2004, 1:37 am  No, there's nothing bad about them...
I'm just too lazy to buy all the stuff for FFXI and hook it up to my computer; but FFX-2 is really different from the other Final Fantasies. I've played a bit of it, but it didn't really do anything for me. It's all girly and... just really, really different from FFX.
Classical_Wizar August 10th, 2004, 1:39 am it has different endings, think that what turned me off the fact that there was a 100 percent story line and you had to do certain things to get it all.
Edit: i might go back to playing it some other time.
starlette01350 August 10th, 2004, 4:07 am I've been a Squaresoft fan for years. My first SS game was Threads of Fate, which was just really cute and fun. Then, onto Legends of Mana, which took a little getting used to, but was really fun and a lengthy game. I started Chrono Cross, but was a little disappointed with the graphics and could never really get into it. I recently got a PS2 (yay!) and started (and almost finished) FF X. (I'm so happy, I just got the sun sigil after days and days of trying). I wish I'd started the FF series sooner, I really love FF X. The graphics are amazing, the storyline is serious, but still fun, and the music is really awesome. I think the battle system is perfect as well, it's too bad they changed it in FF X-2. I've heard FF VIII was also really good, would you guys recommend it? FF XII looks awesome, but I'll wait to play it so I can get it pre-owned (hehe, I got FF X and X-2 for less than $30 combined).
Tactics Advance was ok. It got a little repetitive after awhile, especially after you've unlocked all the different classes.
On a side note, does Crono Cross seem really similar to FF X to anyone else? Both Tidus and Serge are in alternate-realities and Kid seems really similar to Rikku. They both also have cat-people, though Kimarhi isn't evil. Happy gaming everyone!
Black_Mamba August 13th, 2004, 5:18 pm I used to be a BIG final fantasy fan, but I kind of came off it when the series went to the PS2 and I don't have one (went for an x-box instead, I regret it every day because it has no little games I like :( ) I did play FF 7, 8 and 9, my all time favourite is still 7. Has anyone seen FF7: Advent Children yet, the CGI movie follow-up? it's been released in Japan, but I don't speak japanese (yet, I'm starting classes in october :) ) does anyone know whether the japanese dvd has english subtitles? I wouldn't mind ordering it then...
Sorcha August 13th, 2004, 5:50 pm I have FFX and X-2. They are amazing! I rented X-2 and after playing it for a few minutes I knew I had to have it, and I found X on sale at Virgin Records and bought that too. :)
HannahStarr August 13th, 2004, 6:50 pm I've been a Squaresoft fan for years. My first SS game was Threads of Fate, which was just really cute and fun. Then, onto Legends of Mana, which took a little getting used to, but was really fun and a lengthy game. I started Chrono Cross, but was a little disappointed with the graphics and could never really get into it.
Yay, another fan of Threads of Fate and Legend of Mana! LoM is one of my favorite games ever, as is Chrono Cross. The graphics for CC are okay, but the CG scenes are awesome! Plus, it's got a great intro. :D
Tactics Advance was ok. It got a little repetitive after awhile, especially after you've unlocked all the different classes.
I felt the same way when I played it. And yet... I'm strangely addicted to it. :scared:
On a side note, does Crono Cross seem really similar to FF X to anyone else? Both Tidus and Serge are in alternate-realities and Kid seems really similar to Rikku. They both also have cat-people, though Kimarhi isn't evil.
Strange... I never noticed that before. You're right about the Tidus/Serge connection. I wouldn't consider Kimahri a "cat person," though.
MarcKal September 4th, 2004, 3:31 am Tactics, part 7, part 10, the anime, Chrono Trigger, and Chrono Cross (I consider Chrono Trigger and Cross to be part of FF) rock! Anyone see FFU (final fantasy unlimited)?
Abhishek September 4th, 2004, 6:52 am I am a big fan. Though I do not like the 3d ones too much. The best were FF 3-6 because they hd better stories. That being said I still prefer Zelda's 'real time' gameplay instead of FF's 'turn based' one.
Classical_Wizar September 24th, 2004, 2:56 pm I like the turn based ones, it's a classic and they always have great graphics from what I been seeing XII is going to be a good one.
Nanaki September 24th, 2004, 3:10 pm I like them all, if it's square, i love it. My first one was FFVII but since i have played many, though none befoire 7, right now i'mplaying FFIX, and am, obviously, quite taken with Kuja. (I have been since i first read about him, years ago)
Dementor Dave September 24th, 2004, 3:29 pm I'm with Classical_Wizar. FFXII Looks like it is gonna be awesome.
Final Fantasy XII Website (http://www.ff12.com/top.html)
The graphics are going to be unreal. I loved X (and all the title prior, barring VIII), but X-2 was a bit of a let down. So now I'm waiting patiently for Advent Children and FFXII.
Kimmetje September 24th, 2004, 3:38 pm I love final fantasy, especially the X series and X-2. I think it is a real cool game and I have it, but I can't save it onto my playstation 2 memorycard as I need a playstation 1 memorycard for the game. When we buy the new game I am totally going to play it. My signature says that I'm a fan as well...
Nanaki September 24th, 2004, 3:48 pm I know, on the 'signitures you like' I put you and Dawn, but i couldn't remember your name so i put, 'the person with the Yuna sig', tee hee, hello, let's randomly discuss FF for no good reason.
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 4:16 pm I have been a fan of the FF series for what seems like ever. hahaha I started with VII, beat it so many times out of shear obsession that I went and got all the games that came before it, while also buying the ones that came after.
I think my favs are VI, VII and XI. XI is just the most obsessive game around @.@ Yet go figure I have only dressed up as Yuna's costumes from X-2 at conventions hahaha.
I can't wait to play FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus. My favorite VII character has always been Vincent Valentine, and now that he's the main character, I'm the happiest girl around hahaha
I also can't wait to play XII the game looks really well done. I just feel so bad for Squeenix that stuff kept going wrong to push back the release date. I just love the fact that they included all the races from FF:Tactics Advance
Chrono Trigger is by far the best game that Square ever put out. I did NOT like it's sequal! I do have a reason for this. Cross is NOT the true sequal. Why? Because it was based on an older game called Radical Dreamers. So in essence every Trigger referenced is completely forced. To me it seems like they payed the characters to endorse Trigger every now and then. I believe that if I had played Cross first I wouldn't hate it so. But I have been a fan of Trigger since it was out on SNES and I though Cross to be a huge disappointment.
Nanaki September 24th, 2004, 4:20 pm I only feel sorry for ME when they push back the release dates. And i hated how they made XI online, what's the point, they're currently ps-2 games and have no place on the internet, they should bring out a DIFFERENT series of games if they want to put something online
Dementor Dave September 24th, 2004, 4:24 pm I totally forgot FFVII: Dirge of Cerebrus. That is gonna be an awesome game, I just hope they use the materia system again. *crosses fingers*
BTW, I thought ChronoCross was a bit of a let down, as well.
Strife_Smorg September 24th, 2004, 4:26 pm I've played ff5, 6 and 9 but they have different names in the US I think. whatever. they are all v good because there's so much to do! and it's not like mario, where it says at the start, you have to save 7 stars, you have to save the princess etc. It develops as you go on.
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 4:28 pm The whole purpose of putting XI online was to try something different. It's the only game that Squeenix (so I've heard) even intended on putting online.
Just because the game is online doesn't mean it doesn't belong in the series. Cause frankly it's actually the best MMORPG that's ever been made. It was great cause all my friends love FF too so now we can all play together in a party.
Online games aren't as bad as you think. And you can play FFXI through your PS2 it's not like it's limited. If I didn't already have it for my PC i'd be playing it on my PS2.
So honestly unless you've ever played FFXI that's the only reason I've ever seen arguments that it's online. If people played it they don't have a problem with it. The game is just unending and you can play with so many job classes and different people from around the world.
Sure Online games might be for everyone, but FF still has a right to jump genre's like everyone else.
Spew Member September 24th, 2004, 4:28 pm FFX-2 is my favorite! I love Rikku, I hope she shows up in later games.
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 4:29 pm Yeah I wish they would release a few more screen shots from Dirge of Cerberus. The only hint to what the game even looks like I saw in an image from www.rpgamer.com
If I remeber correctly Cait Sith also makes an appearence. Not sure if he's playable or not. Not entirely good at reading Japanese yet ><;
Nanaki September 24th, 2004, 4:30 pm Hello my moogle friend!!! you found me <Gwok> right now i'm playing FFIX -bows-
It's not that i don't want to play online, (which i actually don't) But i don't have broadband and so CAN'T play it.
Ilse September 24th, 2004, 4:31 pm Oh I really liked FFX and FFX-2, but I can't really call myself a fan, because those are the only ones I've played.
My boyfriend bought FFX when it was released, but it didn't take too long before I stole it ^^
I wasn't really into console games before, but since FFX I was hooked :D I've played FFX and FFX-2 three times, and I've tasted a bit of Zelda too with The Windwaker (one of my all time favourite games!)
So, yeah; I like FF :D Çan't wait for FFXII!
Nanaki September 24th, 2004, 4:35 pm You need to become an avid fan, it's fun!!
<Gwok>
Strife_Smorg September 24th, 2004, 4:36 pm hi Moglop! <kupo>
EndersWrath88 September 24th, 2004, 4:37 pm FF9 is my fav because :-u can use 4 charcters (just like the old school ff)
-VIVI
-CG's are great for ff9
-tetra master
-The twisting plot
and of course VIVI!!!!
Dementor Dave September 24th, 2004, 4:38 pm Yeah I wish they would release a few more screen shots from Dirge of Cerberus. The only hint to what the game even looks like I saw in an image from www.rpgamer.com
If I remeber correctly Cait Sith also makes an appearence. Not sure if he's playable or not. Not entirely good at reading Japanese yet ><;
It won't matter to me much, so long as theyy use the same or a similar system. FFVII was my favorite, and I'm so pumped at all this new activity its getting. Yay for SquareEnix!
EndersWrath88 September 24th, 2004, 4:40 pm i think we can all agree that ff8 didn't deserve a final fantasy title maybe something else though. it was nothing fantasy at all, it was way to modern, it just made me really made that square would call it a final fantasy...
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 4:41 pm Yeah I'm just glad they have plans no on remaking it. Which is also a huge fight. ><;
I think the game is perfect the way it is, and doesn't need to me remade with better graphics.
I like how advent children has so much hype that we have a prequal coming out (Before Chrisis for verizon phones YAY!) and now the sequal. There is so much story that hasn't been told (seeing VII actually wasn't finished O.O! so it was rushed to release).
As long as they don't remake it and ruin it I'll be fine with anything VII related that comes out.
Dementor Dave September 24th, 2004, 4:42 pm FFVIII was a good title, I just never got into. And it was very glitchy. I was stuck in the sewers forever just because of a glitch in the game. Oh well. FFIX redeemed itself and then some. It's my number three favorite. Right after FFVII and FFX.
Kimmetje September 24th, 2004, 4:43 pm I must say that my fave Final Fantasy character is Yuna as I like her magic. You should definitely check;
Yuna, her profile! (http://www.ffonline.com/ff10/yuna.htm)
Rikku, her profile! (http://www.ffonline.com/ff10/rikku.htm)
Lulu, her profile! (http://www.ffonline.com/ff10/lulu.htm)
Nanaki September 24th, 2004, 4:44 pm In referance to what EndersWrath said, I love FFIX for KUJA!!!!!!!!!!!! <Gwok> and also the other things, the four people game system amkes it complete, three is just a stupid number (and harder to work with) Doesn't Garnet look like Yuna?
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 4:46 pm I actually had a problem with IX. Mainly because there was only 1 character I liked (Freya) everyone else just whined for no real reason. We had zidane...didn't like him ...princess...her mom tries to kill her OOOH so many times, then she dies and it's a "can't concentrate"...she agrivated me...Quina was just pure comic relief...Vivi just couldn't stand up to save his life...I could go on forever.
Don't get me wrong the story was very good and intreguing, which is the only reason I still play it from time to time. But the only one who had a real reason to complain was Freya, and she was the only one that DIDN'T! Go figure.
EndersWrath88 September 24th, 2004, 4:48 pm yea 4=good and 3=spawn of satan..jk. but it was much more fun with 4 peolple b/c you were able to have one more of ur fav character.
Dementor Dave September 24th, 2004, 4:49 pm To be honest, most of the storylines are a little lacking, and they aren't the reason I play the titles. The systems used to gain abilities in FF are all unique, and usually awesome (GF's may be the exception). Thats why I play.
EndersWrath88 September 24th, 2004, 4:51 pm now, now, now, dont be being mean to Vivi...he had short legs and found out he might die at any second cause he might not have a soul with the whole doll thing...and he is the most powerful...so there :p ...lol
Nanaki September 24th, 2004, 4:53 pm To Rae, did youu like Kuja though?
<Gwok>
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 4:54 pm Yeah I have to agree with you there. They always try to make the game system different from the game before it. I loved the way you aquired abilities in IX, and I'm glad they adopted that system for TA
I didn't care for the "draw" system in VIII though it was unique. I always had a problem with destroying the enemy a few times before I could get the summon out of them hahaha. I felt like I was refighting battles even though I won them seconds before.
I love the sphere grid in X. I think that was one of the craziest things that Squeenix ever put into the game. At first I thought they were nuts and I wouldn't get the handle on it. I just loved that if you had enough patience you'd have a devistating character at the beginning of the game.
EndersWrath88 September 24th, 2004, 4:54 pm what are everyones favorite square games? (top 3 please)
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 4:55 pm I liked Kuja to a point. There were times I wanted to hang him by his feathers hahaha.
I do wish that he would have been the it for final bosses though. I mean where did that final boss come from anyway? They never talked about him at all, he just jumped in there and said "fight me" so of course you're like "okay..."
EndersWrath88 September 24th, 2004, 4:56 pm 1)Final Fantasy 9
2)Kingdom Hearts
3)Kingdoim Hearts 2 (even though it is not out yet)
Dementor Dave September 24th, 2004, 4:56 pm FFVII's materia system is the greatest. But the spheregrid isn't far behind. The only systems I've not liked are the "draw system" in VIII and dress spheres in X-2.
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 4:59 pm Did you see they are using Materia in Advent Children? When you look at Clouds sword you can see the materia in the slots! I thought that was the coolest thing ever.
what are everyones favorite square games? (top 3 please)
In order:
1. Chrono Trigger
2. FF VII
3. FF XI
if I could add a 4th I'd put in Kingdom Hearts. I love that game. The sequals are gonna rock! I can't wait for Chain of Memories cause the graphics for the GBA are just the best ever. And Axel is just the best character ever in KH2.
[Edit] And also in KH2 trailer you see all the kids holding Materia. I hope they explani that. I love how they seemed to final fantasy up the style a bit too ^^
Dementor Dave September 24th, 2004, 4:59 pm Oh yeah. I can't wait to get it. Sephiroth was my favorite badguy in any game ever. He was so cruel. It gave me chills.
Nanaki September 24th, 2004, 5:00 pm I can't wait for Advent Children to come out!!! <Gwok>
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 5:02 pm I know the minute it's out in Japan I'll have it (got to have original voice actors hehehe)! I wish I could have been in Venice when they did a sneak preview ;_;
I'm only worried about one thing. Every time they do something new in the movie, we see it. What aren't we going to see by the time it's released?!
EndersWrath88 September 24th, 2004, 5:02 pm when does advent children come out....on one site it said july 10 and well its not here
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 5:04 pm That was the original date Squenix set up. They keep pushing it back. It's a lot longer now then they had planned it to be. It was originally supposed to be only 45/60 minutes long. I hear it's up to and 1 hr and a half now.
I'm not sure if they have set the actual release date yet. Have to go check the official site out.
Dementor Dave September 24th, 2004, 5:05 pm I just bet there will be something interesting left. Did Anyone else watch the trailer for FFXII on the link I posted earlier. Wow, that game is gonna rock!
Also, has anyone else noticed that the beginning of the prologue for FFXII is the same as that of FFT?
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 5:08 pm That's because they are using the same world at FFT
Cause if you notice all the races from Tactics advance are in XII
The Viera and the Baanga are all there.
Dementor Dave September 24th, 2004, 5:09 pm Yeah, I knew that Ivalice and all, but the original prologue was about Ramza. (I think)
Nanaki September 24th, 2004, 5:10 pm I probly would have noticed 'cept i don't speak (or read) Japanese.
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 5:13 pm Wouldn't doubt it, I think they are trying to link the two Tactics games together and introduce the new characters.
Cause in a way Vaan looks like a more cgi, real life Ramza. In the same way the kid from TA appeared almost to have the same sprite as well
Nanaki September 24th, 2004, 5:18 pm The world continues to spin and everything born will be reborn, in just such a way we may have another game as good as FFVII.
winter snow September 24th, 2004, 5:22 pm Anyone know the release date for FFXII?
I also can't wait for Advent Children. FFVII was the first video game that actually made me cry. You know the scene! I didn't care for the "Draw" system of FFVIII. I liked the moving back to "fantasy" of FFIX. I really liked the sphere grid of FFX. I didn't really mind the Dress Spheres of FFX-2, but to make the player have to pull off insane mini-games in order to get certain Dress Spheres is not funny. My reflexes are NOT those of a younger person. I think there should be a difficulty level in all games so people of all skill levels can enjoy the games.
Nanaki September 24th, 2004, 5:27 pm I liked the dresspheres only because, i'm fairly sure everyone thinks about what the characters would like like in different clothes, like when I saw Garnet in the big dress, it's good to see them not in the same clothes all game and the dresspheres let you kid with what they wear.
winter snow September 24th, 2004, 5:38 pm I liked the dresspheres only because, i'm fairly sure everyone thinks about what the characters would like like in different clothes, like when I saw Garnet in the big dress, it's good to see them not in the same clothes all game and the dresspheres let you kid with what they wear.
Agreed. I also liked the fact that the outfits from each Dress Sphere were different for each of the characters as that gave even more variety.
Adual September 24th, 2004, 5:45 pm I only have FXIII ,and it´s fantastic!!!
My favourite character is Squall :p
Nanaki September 24th, 2004, 5:48 pm Yes, though i didn't like Paines' thief outfit, it wasn't a bikini (which i may have been kinda looking foward to0 It was like, scuba gear or something. Though most of them were good, I liked how Yuna had Diagoro (little doggy) for her animal.
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 5:50 pm but to make the player have to pull off insane mini-games in order to get certain Dress Spheres is not funny.
I agree, I hated that coin game, and to have to beat Shinra was almost impossible. There should have been another way to get the gambler sphere ><
Nanaki September 24th, 2004, 5:57 pm I hate all mini games but they are, unfortunately, the one and only drawback in the FF series (plus the games eventually end)
winter snow September 24th, 2004, 5:59 pm Some of the outfits were covering the bodies and some of them were risque! I don't think all the moaning about Luna's outfits before the games release was relevant. The outfits Luna wore were consistent with what she was doing in this game. Since Sin was defeated in FFX, it would make sense that Luna was no longer needed to dress as a summoner. Why should she have dress as a summoner for the rest of her life?
I wonder how many of those who complained about her outfit played the game? I also wonder if they changed their mind after?
Nanaki September 24th, 2004, 6:09 pm You know who bugs me, Dona, when i saw her in the new game i had this feeling of dread liek '****, there i was hoping seh was killed by a falling coconut or something lame like that at the end of the game.'
Ah well, also LULU/WAKKA????
Ewww.
winter snow September 24th, 2004, 6:09 pm I agree, I hated that coin game, and to have to beat Shinra was almost impossible. There should have been another way to get the gambler sphere ><
I'm not one that has to get 100% in a game. If I can't get the "special dress sphere" after many tries, I just move along on my way. I will try, but if it becomes an excercise in frustration, I lose interest. =)
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 6:17 pm I lost my 100% at Rin's quest there, I was trying to impliment Rin in order to see Auron's sphere, unfortunatly I didn't do it right and didn't get an eppy complete. So I quit worrying about it.
But the gambler sphere is so much fun to play with, it's just a pain in the but to get it.
I for one love Yuna's outifts. I think they are the greatest ever, hence why I cosplay them at conventions so often. I think Rikku's are for more risque then any of the three, which I think it intentional. I hate to say it but I don't like Rikku, not because of the character herself, but because my old roomate looked and acted just like her and that is a personality I can only stand about so far. I think that's why I loved the fact that Paine had annoyance meter on her so much.
Nanaki September 24th, 2004, 6:18 pm Like the special weapons in X
After dodging 150 bolts then getting hit i decided that Lulu was fine with the funky blue space doll she had.
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 6:26 pm Ooh I hated dodging lightning bolts. I got up to 180 once ;_; I was only 20 away and I slipped and hit the wrong button on the control pad. I about cried for a week. I couldn't tough the game for about as long. I was so upset.
playmaker9 September 24th, 2004, 6:29 pm I own I,II,IV,V,VI,VII,VIII,IX,X,X-2,FFT,FFTA. I've beaten I,VII,VIII,IX,X,X-2,FFT. I really need to get back to some of those games and beat them. I'd say VI is probably the best, best villian (Kefka) and favorite character (Locke) - and it did have a fairly emotional moment in it on par with the Aerith death scene; when Locke retreives the thing he needs to bring his lost love back to life, revives her, and then she dies again like two minutes later. That was really sad. I've actually gotten all the way up to the final boss battle in that game, but quit just before it because I couldn't get Shadow back, and he was the strongest character (IMO) so I restarted so that I could get him, and I haven't played it in a while, got distracted by Wind Waker and Master Quest, as well as school and stuff.
On another note, I heard a rumor about this once but nothing more...somewhere I heard that FFX is actually a sequel to FFVII. Is there any truth to this at all?
Go Cubs!

If I were to wager a quess, in mho I would say I don't think so.
Rae_G September 24th, 2004, 7:14 pm Anyone know the release date for FFXII?
12/30/04
Found it browsing www.gamestop.com So after christmas. It's following the typical pattern of FF release dates hehe
Also FYI:
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (GBA): 12/7/04
Kindome Hearts II - 12/30/04 (I'll be spending A LOT that day hahaha)
In case anyone was still wondering about release dates.

Thank you Rae-G! Much appreciation. I'm going to be poorer that day too! Why can't they release these games in the summer? It's hard to go Christmas shopping and buy my games too!
Classical_Wizar September 25th, 2004, 5:00 am To make you spend more money. I can't wait for it.
winter snow September 25th, 2004, 5:09 am To make you spend more money. I can't wait for it.
I can't wait to get my hot little hands on that game! I like your sig!
Too bad every gamer didn't have a job where they made enough to pay their bills and had enough left over for the important stuff...games!
caligirl14 September 25th, 2004, 5:19 am Final Fantasie Games rock! there hella fun.

I know I cridge every time a new one comes out but I so much love them. Lucky my games seem to be spread apart.
Rae_G September 25th, 2004, 6:37 pm I hate it when every game that's coming out is gonna be a good one and they are like weeks apart. The KH's/and FFXII is gonna be so close together. I should start saving up now hahaha. That way I can do chrismas shopping and STILL afford to get my games.
I'm just happy KotOR II won't be out until February to the PC -phew- That's 50 less I'll have to shell out at chrismas -lol-
But maybe I can get lucky and get one of my relatives to get me Chain of Memories for Christmas to ease the expense a bit hehehe

So, they're on the same day. Not good for marketing purposes, is it? If I had to make an ABSOULTE choice on that day, I think I'd pick XII.
Played 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 10-2. Order of best to worst (and this is a very tough decision) 8, 10, 6, 9, 10-2, and 7. They're so interchangable it's crazy.

I been waiting for Kingdom Hearts 2 for a while too, but I'm with you I would take FF XII over it. As for being interchangable I know it is crazy
Rae_G September 28th, 2004, 2:36 pm If I had to make a choice I'd have to take KH2 over FFXII if i was unable to get both, which I will try my hardest to do.
Mainly because I've had XI to tide me over for FF titles. Haven't had a new KH title for awhile. It's time for it to take the spotlight for a bit. Especially since I've actually been anticipating it longer.
Qeomash October 5th, 2004, 9:25 pm It occured to me that we didn't have this thread, and it might warrant some discussion. This thread is for discussing all the Final Fantasy games, on all systems. NES...SNES...PSX...GCN...GBA....ALL OF THEM!
And, begin.
.........I must say, I haven't really played any of the ones for the Playstation. However, that is probably going to change soon as I plan to buy a Play Station 2 just for FFX and FFVII. The only one out of all of them I've actually played and come close to beating (never finished...school started) was Final Fantasy II for the SNES. Very good game.
Classical_Wizar October 5th, 2004, 9:26 pm Isn't this one? Any fans of Final Fantasy series? (http://www.cosforums.com/showthread.php?t=13484&highlight=final%2A)
Qeomash October 5th, 2004, 9:36 pm Yes....I guess I didn't go back far enough in my search.
*Merge*
loopdeedoo123 October 6th, 2004, 1:52 am I really like the Final Fantasy music on the oldest Gameboy. *starts singing*
Classical_Wizar October 6th, 2004, 1:54 am Does anyone else have the soundtracks?
I have the music for 6 and 5 just love the songs.
My friend went to one of those video games con, and a girl was playing it on the piano he said it was very moving.
Qeomash October 6th, 2004, 2:25 am The only soundtrack I have is the Black Mage's remixed soundtrack.
Dementor Dave October 6th, 2004, 2:30 am I have the FFVII soundtrack. Aeris' theme is pretty awesome.
