falling_cookie June 6th, 2007, 10:40 pm I've always loved Harry and the Potters and now I'm getting into the other Wizard Rock bands. I went to a Harry and the Potters concert a few days ago and I have to say, I've never had that much fun at a concert ever! If you ever have the chance to go to their concert, I would say drop everything and go!
I'm starting to listen to the Remus Lupins and Draco and the Malfoys and anything else I could get to my ears. I'm in love with the Remus Lupins' "Origin" and "Remember Cedric Diggory" (you could listen to it here (http://www.myspace.com/theremuslupins)). And I'm considering subscribing to the Wizard Rock EP of the Month but is it really worth it?
quiditchwitch June 25th, 2007, 1:21 am I love the Remus Lupins. For anyone wondering check out "Maybe Tomorrow" Performed Live with Hermione Crookshanks Experience. It's this strange sort of Hermione/Ron shipping song, and theres just one moment that makes the song completely hilarious. Check it out on youtube.
Also, Oliver Boyd and the Rememberalls are insanely talented. So is the Weasel King - who plays sort of ambient techno music.
But if you want an altogether good band, silly, raucous, and they have a drummer (which is rare mind you), Go with Gred and Forge - "Ginny Gets Around" by Gred and Forge is hilarious.!
Thinking of starting my own wizard rock band called "The Comet Two-Sixties" But my friend refuses to play the drums for me. The only song she says she'll play drums for is this piece of horrible fandom nonsense called "Have you heard?" about a bunch of ridiculous Hogwarts rumors - i.e. Madam Hooch and Hagrid are Having an Affair, Draco wets his bed, Harry Potter picks his nose - that sort of stuff.
sticky June 25th, 2007, 8:41 pm i love loads of these bands, and there are loads of them now. i have only been listening to them through the internet tho and would like to have them on cd's.
does anyone know if they do them on cd's, any of the bands and where you can get them.
on amazon they did do the harry and the potters and dracos and the malfoys but they sorta disappeared.......thanx :p
LordThingy June 25th, 2007, 10:29 pm I went to a Harry and the Potters concert two weeks ago! They were so much fun.. it was a great night.
chocolatefrog99 June 25th, 2007, 10:49 pm I'm obsessed with The Remus Lupins- they WROCK! Harry and the Potters annoy me, though. Lyrics are kind-of cheesy and singing as well..
Draco and the Malfoys are awesome, gonna buy Party Like You're Evil.
"Need to wear my awesome scarf!"
purrbaby101 June 27th, 2007, 6:24 am Wizard Rock rocks! I first learned of it through Harry and the Potters, then widened my variety to The Remus Lupins, Draco and the Malfoys, and The Parselmouths. I just surf around on myspace and the bands' official sites to listen to their songs, though I really should buy a CD or two... I think it's really cool that Harry Potter is so big that it has it's own genre in music and so many bands dedicated to that genre. Go Wizard Rock!
sticky June 28th, 2007, 5:46 pm does anyone know a good site that sells these cd's. i love listening to them, but would love them on cd too.
i can't find many british websites that sell them. i would appreciate your help. thanxs
SyirenSlytherin June 29th, 2007, 4:18 am w00t wizardrock, my newest love affair. just got my Ministry of Magic in the mail yesturday and i adore it. can't wait for the moaning myrtles one to come out. i got obsessed, kinda made my own band and have been having a blast with the community. it's really great and supportive and amazingly cool. even though myspace is the devil, i forgive it for bringing me to wizardrock
SydneyCartonFan June 29th, 2007, 8:00 pm Ever since I was introduced to the Remus Lupins through the HP youtubers, I've been checking out new bands like crazy, like listening to the Podcast of Awesome, which you can subscribe to through itunes. But Alex Carpenter is still the one rocking Dobby's socks!
michelle3654 June 29th, 2007, 8:27 pm does anyone know a good site that sells these cd's. i love listening to them, but would love them on cd too.
i can't find many british websites that sell them. i would appreciate your help. thanxsMost of the bands have myspace accounts where you can purchase their cds.
AptPupil July 3rd, 2007, 5:52 am I don't want to sound like a snob, I'm sure that alot of these bands are really good but...john lennon or any dead rocker would be turning over in their grave
in other words: the music itself is probably good, but the lyrics almost HAVE to suck
Slyths_Mudblood July 5th, 2007, 7:00 am in other words: the music itself is probably good, but the lyrics almost HAVE to suck
I would argue that, while this a lot of the lyrics are not astoundingly profound, I have listened to WRock lyrics that simply amaze me.
The Sectumsepras' lyrics are very dark, adding whole new dimensions to the music genre and capturing the darker themes of the series.
Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls' lyrics are thoughtful and one song in particular ("End of an Era") has actually made me cry. I think it takes well-written lyrics to pull that off, considering, while I am a total dork, I do not burst into tears at every song I hear.
Most of the bands are more about entertaining and promoting reading than actual Grammy-winning music. So, yeah, some of the lyrics suck. But some of them are amazing. It just depends on which bands you listen to. =]]]
SyirenSlytherin July 5th, 2007, 4:37 pm as someone who spent years in the local punk scene and i mean street punk, which is supposed to be all about diy and live in the scene not the cd's all i have to say is that wizardrock is the most punk rock thing i've ever experianced. it's all about just having fun and supporting eachother and who gives a **** about what everyone else thinks cause we're having fun doing what we love even if we can't play our instruments or record with any semblance to quality.
i don't see how you can make any comment of lyical lvl unless you've listened to every wrock band out there. last thing i need is another cheesy love song
SiriusObsession July 5th, 2007, 10:03 pm I LOVE the Remus Lupins. I think they (and other wizard rock bands) sound more intelligent and thoughtful then just about any other music being produced recently. How many rap stars give free concerts in libraries? How many bands target younger kids, not for profit but to promote reading? Plus, how can any self-respecting fan of the books, not listen to these and smile?
PotterFreak0515 July 7th, 2007, 12:15 pm I LOVE the Remus Lupins.
Exactly! Alex has said many times that his goal is to promote reading! His motto or whatever is "Fight Evil. Read Books." How cool is it to see people admitting that they like reading? I'm 14 and I've always loved reading. I never go anywhere without a book. Anywhere. Consequently, I get made fun of fairly often. People sometimes ask me why I like reading and tell me that the only books they read are for school. I just can't believe that! How can anyone not like reading? But Alex (and the other bands, but I really love Alex!) are out there promoting literacy and having fun.
I'm actually listening to The Remus Lupins as I type this.
Alex is also great because he has such a great variety of music. Some of them are more slow and romantic, while others just make you want to get up and dance! I'm looking at iTunes, and I've listened to "Loosen Your Tie" 287 times.
I went to a Harry and the Potters concert two weeks ago! They were so much fun.. it was a great night.
Aren't they fantastic? They're not my favorite band talent-wise, but their shows are fantastic! I went to one in March and it was the most pumped-up thing I've ever seen. It's all about the energy and getting ready to wrock! Some of their songs - I just get so emotional when I listen to them! Like "Dumbledore's Army." The whole rebelliousness and standing up against Umbridge - I love it! My heart swells with joy every time I listen to it. And "The Weapon" is amazing, of course.
I'm in love with the Remus Lupins' "Origin" and "Remember Cedric Diggory" (you could listen to it here (http://www.myspace.com/theremuslupins)). And I'm considering subscribing to the Wizard Rock EP of the Month but is it really worth it?
I LOVE "Origin!" First of all, it's about Remus, my favorite character! And the way it's written - it's told like a story! And I love the line, "Insulted me once and vexed me twice. I'll be a Muggle if you offend me thrice." And the tune is so different from most of the other wrock bands! I'm listening to it now.
Oh, and I'd get the Wizard Rock EP of the Month, but I don't have 50 dollars and my parents wouldn't get it for me. *sulk*
Fight Evil, Read Books!!!!
Angelic_Crisis July 24th, 2007, 3:26 am This is the first time I'm hearing about these bands and songs... I am definitely going to go looking for them though.
GreenLady July 24th, 2007, 6:45 pm I know someone already mentioned this, but Oliver Boyd and the Remembrall's "End of an Era" is terrific. Now that we have to face that the series has ended, this song says it all.
http://www.myspace.com/oliverboydandtheremembralls
SiriuslyInLovee July 25th, 2007, 5:24 am I'm in love with The Remus Lupins!
Looking for trouble is the best.
It's my myspace song & I go to my myspace just to listen to it.
The Parselmouths are good too.
My friends & I are starting our own Wizard Rock band called Siriusly In Denial.
I love Wizard Rock.
Loonyfan93 July 25th, 2007, 7:45 am Ahhh! I love almost all of them, 'specially Draco and the Malfoys, Harry and Potters, and The Parslemouths! ^_^
Muggleboy57 July 25th, 2007, 5:33 pm I went to the Harry and the Potters concert the night of Book Seven Release. It was awesome.
Gracezilla06 July 25th, 2007, 5:49 pm I really like the Moaning Myrtles and the Parselmouths, because they're funny and have good voices. I also think the Hungarian Horntails are terrible, but very cute.
horcruxholly July 31st, 2007, 1:31 am oh dear. here i go::
I LOVE HARRY AND THE POTTERS *fangirl squeeeeal*
seriously, they are my favorite wizard rock group followed by the parslemouths.
Thier lyrics crack me up. I love music that make me laugh. my friends think i have gone over the deep edge but see? other people love them too!!
Save Ginny Weasley is one of my favorites. i have it on my myspace i love it so much ;)
i just loooooooove harry and the potters. they rule.
and im done.=)
AmesEmoWitch July 31st, 2007, 11:18 am Haha, Iv'e seen these guys on myspace! I thought it was fantastic that they're writing songs about our favourite series. Rock on! :D
flowerchild July 31st, 2007, 11:54 am I think they are awesome. I read about them on Mugglenet and they are really, really good.
harryismyhero17 August 1st, 2007, 7:14 pm ha ah they're awesome!!! i like 'Save Ginny Weasley' (because i just love her!) and 'maybe you shouldn't have brought up Cedric Diggory because I'd rather not talk about your dead ex-boyfriends over coffee'..
i heart them! now my friends are going to think im even more obsessed with harry potter.
WilliamLovegood August 1st, 2007, 7:40 pm Oh! I really love their music, it's so catchy and original! And while I'm listenning I get to laugh ;P
One good thing also, is that when you start listenning, you just can't stop! Great band!
Weazleby August 3rd, 2007, 6:45 pm My friends and I love the "Save Ginny Weasley" song. It's so funny and really easy to learn the words (wonder how that happens?). I've been meaning to check out their other songs but I've been too busy. I also love the "Fluffy" song, it's hilarious. They were in Houston a couple months ago and I really wanted to go but I had to go to the beach with family and friends, so I missed out. I'm hoping they will come back over here soon.
Skooma714 August 3rd, 2007, 9:44 pm I find their music and singing to be positively grating.
Manisa August 3rd, 2007, 9:51 pm Has anyone heard of this band? I just found out about them a few months ago and they are AWESOME! You can hear some of their songs here (http://www.myspace.com/harryandthepotters).
Hey, yeah, they are okay. :tu:
cottoneyejoe27 August 5th, 2007, 6:15 am "Oh my god you look like a frog! oh my god you look like a frog!"
Cracks me up everytime. =)
What about Roonil Wazlib? She's pretty amazing.
Lil Red Head August 12th, 2007, 8:17 am I just discovered Wizard Rock. Harry and the Potters came to Denver the other day, which is about 2 hours away from where I live, but it seemed like a once in a lifetime chance, so we piled in the car and headed out.
Draco and the Malfoys played too. Both bands were great! We ended up buying 4 cds, 2 buttons and a t-shirt, which I get to show off at my Harry Potter meeting tomorrow. :)
The bands are in Boulder on Tuesday, but that's even further, so I'm having a hard time justifying using up a tank of gas. I'm hoping that they'll come back through Colorado again. I've started looking thru the bands sites looking for their touring dates.
If you get a chance to go see them live, it's well worth the trip!
Drazer August 12th, 2007, 11:41 am If you want a laugh then it's fine. Not gonna light up the musical world, but it's fun. Personally I don't listen to it again after the first listen. The novelty wears off pretty quickly. The Remus Lupins is the best one i've heard though.
JealousOfGinny August 15th, 2007, 9:28 pm my fave wizard rock band is definitely Harry and the Potters. though the Moaning Myrtles are really good.
my favorite song of HatP is "Dumbledore". its incredible if anyone can relate.
Erzeal August 21st, 2007, 2:55 pm My favorite is The Remus Lupins. Love them.. Ordered their cds and listened to them many times over. Just wish I could see them live.
aliauthor August 25th, 2007, 6:40 pm I've always loved "We Save Ron, Part 8" and "Save Ginny Weasley from Dean Thomas". They're actually on iTunes, I made an iMix with all of the wizard rock on iTunes when I was bored a week or so ago. :)
What are you talking about? There is no such thing as a harry potter overload. If anything there isn't enough Harry Potter out there!
high five, girl! I couldn't agree more.
My favorite is The Remus Lupins. Love them.. Ordered their cds and listened to them many times over. Just wish I could see them live.
I wish I could see anyone live! Haven't heard much Remus and the Lupins stuff, though.
_D_Alex_M_ August 29th, 2007, 11:15 pm The Remus Lupins is the best by far :D I absolutely love Loosen Your Tie <3
Harry and the Potters are brilliant and Draco and the Malfoys are not behind at all:P
OLP August 29th, 2007, 11:25 pm I've read some of Harry and the Potters' lyrics and they're rather amusing.
LilyDreamsOn August 29th, 2007, 11:36 pm The Remus Lupins are - well, is, considering it's one guy - my favourite. The song "Origin" is really, really good.
Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls is really good, too. Toronto-love! "End of an Era" is so sad - everyone should hear it.
evansmp August 30th, 2007, 8:51 pm Are any of the bands actually rock? All im hearing is acoustic, or lightly played instruments.
Any of them hard rock/metal?
Chris90 August 30th, 2007, 9:01 pm Yeah I'm surprised there isn't a heavier wizard band that follows the more traditional "dragons & castles" metal format.
evansmp August 30th, 2007, 9:14 pm I was expecting to see some kind of Dragonforce style songs, obviously not of their quality and caliber, but close to their style of music.
LoonyMagic August 30th, 2007, 9:20 pm I LOVE wizard rock!
Harry and the Potters absolutely rock my socks! They make me laugh so much!
Other bands I like are Draco and the Malfoys and The Remus Lupins.
They aren't "rock", more like a couple of dudes with a backing track and a guitar :D Oh well, I still love them :D
gillyfizz August 31st, 2007, 4:31 am The Remus Lupins are - well, is, considering it's one guy - my favourite. The song "Origin" is really, really good.

Just discovered Wizard Rock recently and I really like it. The Remus Lupins are awesome! The "End of an Era" song is so good but so sad!
Accio_Pint September 1st, 2007, 1:04 am Are any of the bands actually rock? All im hearing is acoustic, or lightly played instruments.

More "old school goth rock" than metal, but give The Sectumsempras a listen:
http://www.myspace.com/sectumsempras
Just for a start...
AptPupil September 6th, 2007, 6:14 am I'm fully expecting to dodge tomatoes for saying this, but I have far too much respect for rock and roll music to listen to Wizard Rock.
LilyDreamsOn September 6th, 2007, 6:55 am Heh I saw a news report on Harry and the Potters today (right after a report on how a penguin has been made a sergeant in Norway...). It was really strange, cause I always forget there are actually people outside of the fandom who might hear of them. *needs a life*
Slightly related, but Joe Degeorge from H & the Ps wrote this hilarious post-DH fanfiction (http://youtube.com/watch?v=gBieFYcViJw&mode=related&search=); if you haven't heard it yet, check it out (unless you haven't read DH yet, obviously).
LoonyMagic September 6th, 2007, 8:56 am I'm fully expecting to dodge tomatoes for saying this, but I have far too much respect for rock and roll music to listen to Wizard Rock.
*Throws tomato* :D Oh but Wizard Rock is so awesome! Yeah, sure it's not rock, but y'know it's the best us Harry Potter fans have.

I heard that aaages ago. So funny! Harry and the Potters make me laugh so much. :D

I like:
99 Death Eaters - Draco and the Malfoys
Draco & Harry (secretly love each other) - The Whomping Willows
-> by the way, it's not about some weird fanfic. The song was written because Harry and the Potters and Draco and the Malfoys wrote a lot of songs about each other. The Whomping Willows wrote the song because he thinks they secretly love each other.
Save Ginny Weasley - Harry and the Potters
(Save Ginny from the basilisk, but you can also go for Save Ginny from Dean lol)
Fred and George - Harry and the Potters
Voldemort can't stop the rock - Harry and the Potters
It's not really a wizard rock group, but it's funny when Melissa Anelli and John Noe sing their filk "Voldemort's outside" :D that's great

Lord_Nomolous September 8th, 2007, 10:19 pm I like Draco and the Malfoys. Their lyrics are hilarious (and filled with some not so subtle innuendos ).
I haven't looked back through all the posts, but has anyone ever heard of the Parselmouths? I think that's their name, I can't remember, might not be. They're more techno. I love their song "Voldemort Fangirl."
My sister suggested that there should be a recording studio for all the HP bands, so that the quality is better. That would be awesome.
"Oh, yes, I was just down at the Wizard Rock Recording Studio (WRRS), recording my new ode to the Dark Side the other day."
_D_Alex_M_ September 8th, 2007, 10:32 pm Ive just listened to accio love by ministry of magic and i love it, im gonna listen to some of thier other stuff. :tu:

LilyDreamsOn September 9th, 2007, 8:36 am ooh, I totally recommend Snape Vs. Snape :D
That song is so freaking catchy. I listened to it once, and now I keep having a strange urge to go listen to it again.
Haha, This Book Is So Awesome. It just reminded me of the song by The Remus Lupins, Loosen Your Tie; "Everyday I go out, it's a little bit colder, gotta wear my awesome scarf". Haha. I love Wrock.
Astra September 10th, 2007, 11:18 am Ive just listened to accio love by ministry of magic and i love it, im gonna listen to some of thier other stuff. :tu:
Accio Love is really good!
I also like Meet Me On Diagon Alley. That song is about Harry and Ginny.

juliette October 12th, 2007, 4:15 am I was kinda bored tonight so, I thought I would look up some of these bands, I like the Parselmouths pretty good dance around the room music some of it, but I'm really loving Accio Love by Ministry of Magic.
_Flagrate_ October 12th, 2007, 7:36 pm I haven't actually heard any of these bands music. Seems there are quite a few HP related bands out there. At the moment Im getting the Harry and the Potters albums. After that Ill try out the other bands, see what they're like.
juliette October 12th, 2007, 7:44 pm I really, really like the Ministry of Magic. I like their kinda tecno poppy sound. I think I may try to get their album sometime.
They have a very "finished" sound to me
padfoot181 October 14th, 2007, 3:20 am I love Wizard Rock. The first song I heard was Dumbledore's Army - Harry & The Potters.
I thought it was horrible, I gave up on it - I heard other bands like The Moaning Myrtles. Remus Lupins & Oliver Boyd And The rememberalls and Now I lovee it

dazzel21 October 14th, 2007, 11:50 am this is really weird, but their music is good actually...some are just hilarious!!! will definitely download some for my mp3 player...
VenomBDP October 15th, 2007, 5:54 am Personally, I found myself walking through Wal-Mart the other day, singing under my breath, "We've got to saaaaave Ginny Weasley from the Basilisk..."
juliette October 15th, 2007, 5:41 pm yeah, Friday afternoon at work, I was the only in the office so I kept switching myspace pages listening to wizard rock, and I didn't have internet access all weekend, but I kept singing all these songs in my head espcially MOM's Snape vs. Snape
LilyDreamsOn October 15th, 2007, 9:43 pm People don't change, people don't change, once a Death Eater you're always one... People don't change, people don't change, stop running, it's you you're running from... *hums*
Such a catchy song.
Is anyone going to get the Jingle Spells CD from Leaky? I'm really, really tempted. It's Christmas Wrock - how cool is that?

juliette October 16th, 2007, 2:42 pm that sounds pretty good, I might get one for a friend of mine for christmas
_Flagrate_ October 19th, 2007, 6:02 pm My God...I just got Harry and the Potters first self titled album and Voldemort Can't Stop the Rock.
I can't believe I just wasted my time to get this. They're completely rubbish! The music is basic and lame, someone needs to give them a pail so they can at least carry a tune. God that's bad.
Are they any other HP related bands out there that are well, a little more rock/punk/metal or something? Cos Harry and the Potters are just plain bad.

Each to their own I guess  Harry and the Potters make me laugh so much! I really like Draco and the Malfoys, but if you don't like Harry and the Potters I doubt you'd like them. If you check out myspace and look for some bands previously mentioned you can just listen to some of their songs for free and then you don't have to buy their albums to find out about their music. :)

Oh don't worry, I didn't buy them. [staff edit: Leave out any references to potentially illegal activities!] But these guys were something else.
I'd do the myspace thing, but the myspace stand alone player just doesn't like me at all and the controls on it don't work.
Wizard_Pupil October 19th, 2007, 7:30 pm I guess I dont like any of these bands, I have heard Harry and the Potters, Draco and the Malfoys, Remus and the Lupins all that. (By the way I dont the names neither)
Sorry, but Harry Potter into rock? that thing? what I have heard is horrible.
LoonyMagic October 19th, 2007, 7:41 pm I guess I dont like any of these bands, I have heard Harry and the Potters, Draco and the Malfoys, Remus and the Lupins all that. (By the way I dont the names neither)

 Oh well, I just take Wizard Rock with the fact that it's all just a bit of fun :) Although, there are a lot of hardcore Harry and the Potters fans...

Yeah, I don't take Wizard Rock all too seriously. If it weren't for the fact that the songs amused me, I wouldn't listen to most of them. There are some that are actually good, musically, but then again that's all up opinion. I think it's just amusing that there are so many people into making music based on Harry Potter - what other fandom has that?
Lucretia October 21st, 2007, 10:08 pm I love them so, so much. Their music used to be...not the best, but with their newer songs, they're actually pretty good and not just funny. They've really expanded.
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a44/eyeballeater/4thyrharry2.jpg?t=1193000787
Haha, hilarious expressions there.
Their shows are super fun...well, wizard rock shows in general are. Best way to bring HP fans together. I've started to wear my actual Hogwarts outfit to them, now, though, because I dress like a schoolgirl so people used to think I was dressed up when I wasn't. Since everyone there has a plaid skirt or tie or whatever. Haha.
sticky October 22nd, 2007, 8:52 pm I absolutely love them!!! My favourite is 'save ginny weasley' me and my sister sing it all the time around the house!!!
grim12mauld November 19th, 2007, 6:17 pm I just received my Jingle Spells in the mail on Saturday the 17th. Overall I'm really happy with the album, it's a lot of fun. There's only a couple songs I don't like: Harry and the Potters' "Xmas Rulez, Voldemort Droolz" and the Hungarian Horntails song.
The jewel case to the CD had a huge crack in it, which is disappointing because I was planning to resell it on ebay when I was done listening to it.
Anyway, has anyone else gotten theirs yet? What did you think of the album?
onyxdiggory December 24th, 2007, 12:40 am I've heard about them.. their song Save Ginny Weasley isn't really that bad
greenlova January 2nd, 2008, 10:40 pm Gawd I hate them but then I love them. They're so odddddd!
LoonyMagic January 15th, 2008, 8:21 pm I think they're quite amusing. I don't think they're music is that great, but it's fun and catchy so I listen to them a lot. I love Save Ginny Weasley. I sang it with some random people I didn't know, whilst waiting for DH at midnight :D
Voldemorts8thHorcrux January 15th, 2008, 9:44 pm I don't know what I think of it....It's based on Harry Potter and stuff, and i like the lyrics, but i just dont like the melody for some reason.
LoonyMagic January 18th, 2008, 5:07 pm I don't know what I think of it....It's based on Harry Potter and stuff, and i like the lyrics, but i just dont like the melody for some reason.
I see what you mean. I find the actual composition of their songs quite bad. And I'm not too sure about the lead singer - his voice can get quite annoying. But it's all a bit of fun, so I don't mind.
Marina May 10th, 2008, 6:19 am I have listened to a couple, but didn't like either really. There was one I heard, but she had a terrible voice! She just had this voice that sounded really 'thick' and congested if you get what I mean. It doesn't matter if the lyrics are good or bad, it's often the singing that decides it for me. If the singing sounds awful, and I can almost feel my ears trying to close up, then I know it's not for me. My ears want comfort ('ear, 'ear, right? ;)), not discomfort.
goldensara May 10th, 2008, 7:33 am Harry and the Potters have some good songs in my opinion. 90% of the fun of listening to it is because its about Harry Potter, but some of the songs are actually pretty good musically and lyrically.
This is my favorite Harry Potter related song, even though its made as more of a joke than an actual band:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuBm0dvIzcc
sticky May 14th, 2008, 11:56 am I listen to some wizard rock, but it is only fun music for me...not really serious. I mean Harry and The Potters can't really sing...no offense boys  but i love the lyrics, thy are hilarious. I also listent to the Remus Lupins and the Ministry of Magic, it's just a bit of fun...bit of a giggle when you're on the bus
amandaevans June 25th, 2008, 8:46 pm Hey, I was just looking around after a thread about wizard rock, but I couldn't find one. So... Here it is! :)
My question is what band you like the most, and why.
My favourite band is the Moaning Myrtles, because they make melodies and lyrics that'll stuck in your mind forever, and it's really funny to hear. :D
Oh, and wish me luck in their T-shirt contest. :) I'm very nervous. If you want to see my thingey to it. :tu:
Edit: Oh, I was moved over here. :p
AccioHP July 8th, 2008, 5:35 am I never really got into Wizard Rock, but recently I thought I'd search for some bands and see if I liked them. The songs are funny but I don't think I could listen to them all the time. Im not really a big fan. I have to say though, the Ministry of Magic band was probably one of the better ones that I listened to (singing wise). Does anyone know any other Wrock bands similiar to the sound of the MoM?
Montse July 8th, 2008, 5:53 am LCbaseball22 recommended me to listen to the song " open at the close" in u tube, it was amazing, I simply loved it.
AccioHP July 8th, 2008, 6:02 am LCbaseball22 recommended me to listen to the song " open at the close" in u tube, it was amazing, I simply loved it.
Oh my gosh!!! This song is incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you :)
I found this video that someone made to go along with it.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=DIYk81Deek0
Im definitely going to check out more songs by this band!
Snapeprince July 15th, 2008, 9:50 pm My favorite WizRock Artist has to be The Weasel King.
His music is good vocally and lyrically! It's awesome.
http://www.theweaselkingmusic.com
Listen to "Follow the Red Sparks" for sure.
AccioHP July 15th, 2008, 9:52 pm I'll definitely check them out snakeprince. thanks!
Lucretia August 28th, 2008, 2:35 am I didn't like the Moaning Myrtles much just listening to them, even though their lyrics were funny. But I saw them, and they put on a very enjoyable show and sounded really good in person. They're into drama and it's really obvious, so yeah, they're funny to watch. I love how they turned the first chapter of SS/PS into a song too.
DeathlyH September 1st, 2008, 6:15 pm IMHO, I don't see the point of wizard rock. I men it's cool but I still prefer regular music. I haven't heard any band yet that really amazed me with their talent. Just my opinion, though. :)
BlackVeil September 30th, 2008, 3:30 pm I love so many bands: The Remus Lupins, Ministry of Magic, The Parselmouths, The Moaning Myrtles, Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls, Danny Dementor...
That doesn't even begin to scrape the surface of my obsessions.
Gynni October 5th, 2008, 10:41 am I havn't heard Harry And The Potters a lot but I've been to one gig with Swedish wizard rock bands. That was amazing :)
The bands might not keep the highest quality when it comes to singing and playing (even thought many're very talented), but the lyrics always seems to be rather well written. The fact that they're all about Harry Potter is of course a plus X)
Voldemorts8thHorcrux October 8th, 2008, 1:08 am I wish there was a Lords and the Voldemorts :rotfl:
honksfortonks November 16th, 2008, 5:51 pm I like Harry and the Potters a lot, but there are plenty of other wizard rock bands that are a lot better.
Oliver Boyd & The Remembralls is the best wizard rock band out there, I think.
This guy has got a gorgeous (you heard me right, GORGEOUS) voice and an incredibly professional sound. Definitely not something you'd expect from a wizard rock band. OBatR is a side project of his; in the meantime, he's a full-time musician, and it really shows in the quality of his music.
Also, to all of the people bashing HatP, the wizard rock movement isn't so much about the music that counts. The whole point of doing wizard rock is promote literacy and the values of love, friendship, and integrity that are promoted in the HP books. :D
lovewell November 20th, 2008, 7:30 pm oliver boyd and the remembralls is my favorite wizard rock group :)
vampiricduck November 24th, 2008, 3:58 am Okay, so I've heard enough about this that I want to get into it..
Anyone suggest a good place for me to start? I really wouldn't know.. Something comprehensive would be very helpful, since I'm in over my head even arriving here and reading some of the posts!!
evapotter November 30th, 2008, 11:30 am Voldemort band rocks!! they make Wizard Metal, I like it so much! Give a try to "Mayhem at the Ministry" and "Crucio" songs! They are awesome. You can listen to them at their MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/voldemorttruemetal)
amivongrimm December 30th, 2008, 2:34 am I adore Harry and the Potters. Phoenix Tears always cheers me up n_n
luna_luvgood123 December 30th, 2008, 5:54 pm im listening to Expecto Patronum by Remus Lupins, and its really weird, but its pretty cool...
WittyJules January 5th, 2009, 1:35 am I would recommend the Weasel King, and Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls. "End of an Era" is a total Wizard rock classic. =) Ministry of Magic is really amazing too. They're electronica/techno music, and it's really catchy.
Snapeprince January 25th, 2009, 4:05 pm I love Harry and the Potters! My sister and I have all of the first CD memorized...ha. My favorite song of theirs has to be These Days are Dark. It is so catchy!
I also like The Weasel King. His song Follow the Red Sparks is amazing and it's actually really professional.
boushh March 3rd, 2009, 3:44 am I'm really starting to get into the songs by Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls. I've been listening to them on myspace and youtube and I'm trying to figure out which ones to buy. So far I'm leaning towards the Slytherin EP and the Open at the Close EP. Then I might just pick some of the singles to buy...
LindaZhu August 10th, 2009, 8:46 pm I hope I'm not the only one on CoS who freely admits that they listen to wizard rock. Currently, my favourite band is Ministry of Magic - they're FREAKING AWESOME - what about the rest of you?
blak_cat August 11th, 2009, 7:04 pm I hope I'm not the only one on CoS who freely admits that they listen to wizard rock. Currently, my favourite band is Ministry of Magic - they're FREAKING AWESOME - what about the rest of you?
No, you're not alone LindaZhu. I love wizard rock! And the Ministry of Magic is probably my favorite wrock band also. What's your favorite song from MoM? I also love The Parselmouths. I've listened to some others but those two are my top wrock bands.
Voldemort_pwns August 20th, 2009, 1:01 pm Haha, I like them! They are pretty good.
LindaZhu August 21st, 2009, 2:26 am has anyone heard the song Dumbledore's Army by Harry and the Potters? it's my latest addiction.
Voldemort_pwns August 21st, 2009, 5:58 pm Draco and the Malfoy's are pretty good to.
boushh August 23rd, 2009, 4:47 am Ministry of Magic is probably my favorite. I love so many of their songs, and I really appreciate that they write from different POVs and deal with so many of the characters and storylines. They are super talented, IMHO. I would so love to see them live. :tu:
My other favorites so far are Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls, the Mudbloods, and Draco and the Malfoys.
Voldemort_pwns August 24th, 2009, 3:52 pm The Whomping Williows are good to!
captain_mills October 12th, 2009, 4:18 am Just found this thread. The music is hilarious and awesome. Where can I find these for download?
Thanks!
skullangel October 13th, 2009, 1:36 am i was wondering is thre any bands out there that do wizard symphonic rock much like within temptation or evanescence?
gelowo93 September 30th, 2010, 8:47 pm The only Wizard Rock band I really listen to is The Remus Lupins because the singing isn't that bad and the songs are fun to listen to. I only listen to them on youtube/myspace though - my mum got a new car that you can plug your iPod into and nearly every time we're on a car journey she makes me plug it in and I don't think she'd appreciate the music if I bought it  I've listened to two of Harry and the Potters' songs - Human Hosepipe and Save Ginny Weasley - but I only like them because they're funny, the actual music is quite poor IMO.
LoonyForMoony September 30th, 2010, 9:09 pm I only really listen to Ministry of Magic... I've even got my parents (who know next to nothing about HP) hooked on the music, and they like it when I play my CD in the car. It sounds incredibly professional, and they really tap into the deep themes and hopes and fears running through the text of the series. I've heard several other bands which I haven't been impressed with, because of the lyrics or the music or both. I'm attempting to start my own band at the moment, and am working on the first songs with a friend... but I can't really hope to ever sound as good as MOM does!
TeenMuggle September 30th, 2010, 10:09 pm I don't know a lot of Wizard Rock, but what I've heard I really enjoy, albeit not in a serious musical way ;) Although the lyrics can be really funny and that I couldn't listen to them all the time. There are a few songs and bands that I absolutely love though. Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls has to be my favourite; "Flight of the Prince" is really good and "Open at the Close" and "End of an Era" are just amazing IMO. I also like a couple of The Whomping Willows songs, my favourite being "I do believe in Nargles". That song is the best!! Though seeing as Luna is my favourite character I may be slighty biased.
MsBinns December 1st, 2010, 2:39 am I'm so late to the party...I never knew about "Wizard Rock" until my brother (who isn't even an HP fan at all) told me there was a band called "Harry and the Potters". I thought it sounded a bit silly, but ended up tooling around on YouTube and found all kinds of fun songs.
Most of them are just fun, but I really like Ministry of Magic ("Accio Love" is quite catchy)! and I definitely just teared up watching the video of "Open at the Close" that someone attached earlier in this thread and I'm pleasantly surprised at what a beautiful song it is.
I'm so late to the Wizard Rock party...alas...
Edited to add: I'm officially in love with Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls.
Slartibartfast December 1st, 2010, 4:14 am Im probably gonna get blasted for this, but as far as the HP fandom goes, i draw the line at Wizard Rock. (Along with fanfiction) It just kinda comes off as a bit too meta and obsessive. No offense at all to those who play it and listen to it though. I mean, to each their own, right?
(But some of those bandnames are just...really...wallbangingly bad. Ministry Of Magic is probably the coolest out of the band names. I was hoping some of those guys would get really creative and call themselves stuff like Misuse of Muggle Artifacts and stuff but no such luck.)
boushh December 1st, 2010, 5:52 am (But some of those bandnames are just...really...wallbangingly bad.
I think many of the names aren't trying to be cool, but amusing instead... oh and perhaps relating to the theme of the band.
Ministry Of Magic is probably the coolest out of the band names. I was hoping some of those guys would get really creative and call themselves stuff like Misuse of Muggle Artifacts and stuff but no such luck.)
There actually is a band called that. I'm not a fan, but they exist. :)
I like a lot of Wizard Rock, but there are so many bands out there that I can't say that I like everything.
I do like that it isn't just one genre of music.
Some of my favorite groups:
Ministry of Magic
Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls
The Weasel King
Draco and the Malfoys
The Whomping Willows
The Remus Lupins
The Mudbloods
Swish and Flick
Lily and James
The Butterbeer Experience
Due to some recent concerts and coincidences in my area I've actually seen many of these wizard rock groups live. It's lots of fun to go to a Wrock show. :)
WeasleysQueenie December 1st, 2010, 5:54 am I've never heard of any of these! Fantastic, I'll give some of them a listen. I wish I was as creative as some of these people!
weasley9 December 1st, 2010, 6:37 am I mainly listen to Ministry of Magic and the Parselmouths with some other songs by other wrock bands thrown in the mix as well.
I saw Ministry of Magic live at Infinitus. They were absolutely amazing. I had to leave the conference before the Parselmouths performed though. :(
DorrisTheClock December 8th, 2010, 7:53 pm Not sure if anyone has said this already... But The Remus Lupins? I had their song 'The Weasleys' stuck in my head lately...
gelowo93 December 17th, 2010, 7:54 pm The Remus Lupins are awesome :D I love all of their songs that are on youtube - I haven't got round to buying any of their albums so I just listen to them online. I have Christmas with the Weasleys in my head almost constantly at the moment and the first time I listened to Lullaby I cried it's that sad. Although, my favourite two have got to be Alone on Valentine's day and Maybe Tomorrow.
I haven't really listened to any other Wrock bands, I've heard a few of Harry and the Potters' songs but I'm not a fan.
Grymmditch December 17th, 2010, 9:59 pm Just found this thread. The music is hilarious and awesome. Where can I find these for download?
Thanks!
I'm newish to this too, but check out www.wizardrock.org for an intro, follow the various links, you should find something.
Also, http://realwizardrock.com/ for lyrics and of course, http://www.wizardrockumentary.com/music.html for a sample of free downloads.
The music is generally not free, common creative license, or public domain, though some of it might be.
MsBinns December 18th, 2010, 1:12 am I am in love with Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls! Open At The Close (a hauntingly beautiful song that puts me right back in "The Forest Again" and genuinely makes me cry), is the song that got me hooked on them. I dug around a little bit and found out it's really just a side project of a Harry Potter loving musician from Toronto named Christian Caldeira.
This is just flat out good music that even my 30 year old non-HP loving brother can appreciate it. If you like goofy playful wizard rock then it might not be your thing. The lyrics are subtle enough on some tracks that you really have to listen to figure out what the song is about. They're not overly obvious in their wizard meaning. It's definitely a step above "we've got to save Ginny Weasley from the Basilisk" (which don't get me wrong is still awesome and I love it) in terms of musical quality. This is really top notch wizard rock! Definitely check them out if you haven't done so!
ItsOnlyMe January 21st, 2011, 7:55 am I'm a personal fan Of Ministry Of magic myself. "Bravest Man I Ever Knew" is one of my favorite songs XD
FiendfyreMusic February 11th, 2011, 8:41 am Hey,
I just started a Wizard Rock Group. We are harder rocking than most wizard rock bands and I like to think we paid a little extra attention to songwriting and musicianship.
Check out our demo at www.myspace.com/fiendfyre
Please let me know what you think! If you like it, listen more! And become a fan on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fiendfyre/176095689101521
Our plan is to release more of these demos over the coming weeks and months and eventually rerecord them all with professional quality so that we can release a rock-opera concept album that tells the backstory to the septology. This first demo tells the story of Kreacher and Regulus. Enjoy!
FiendfyreMusic February 11th, 2011, 8:44 am Hey Friends,

No_Name February 28th, 2011, 12:49 am I kinda like this whole Wrock thing, I know I am a nerd, and this is wel -extremely- nerdy, but actually, I'm just in love with anything 'nerdy'. I think the Parselmouths are the best (actually I spend about 3 houres looking up bands like them on YT) but I don't have anything on my ipod yet, because I don't have an Itunes account and they aren't available on Torrentz (< bad, I know, but I'm kinda poor..). I just find it amusing that there are actually bands whe write lyrics about HP, I mean, nerdyness kinda rocks, right?
FiendfyreMusic March 4th, 2011, 8:12 am No_Name,
If you want, I can e-mail you a copy of our demo so that you can put it on your ipod. Just Private Message Me!

No_Name March 4th, 2011, 12:51 pm I like the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office too, they have very catchy songs. Especially the March of the Death Eaters, I like that song .

I'm glad you appreciate it! Hopefully our next demo, about the first Order of the Phoenix, will be out soon.
AradiaLoveless March 25th, 2011, 3:10 pm Ah wizard rock!!!
I was so glad that I found it, some of the songs are pretty amazing. I'm not really into the really silly songs, I like the songs that have emotion and the singer's voice has to be good. That being said I love these bands.
1. Ministry of Magic- I love their sound, and their voices. Many of their songs are wonderful.
2. Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls- Love "open at the close" and "end of an era" very beautiful
3. Let's Lumos- I haven't seen their name posted on this thread at all. They are pretty good. The two songs I love the most are "one last good-bye" it tells the story of the last minutes between James and Lily, and "A brother's lament" which is all about Fred's death and how George deals with it. They both are wonderful and the first time I heard them both I got a little misty-eyed.

I like both types of songs, but I tend to like the non-silly songs better too. :) I also think that the genres a person prefers makes a difference, since Wizard Rock can encompass any music genre. :)

I really like this group too. In addition to the songs above, I would add "A House Grown with Ivy" about Merope. Sad and pretty IMO...

MsBinns March 25th, 2011, 7:41 pm Ah wizard rock!!!
2. Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls- Love "open at the close" and "end of an era" very beautiful
I LOVE "Open at the Close"!! It makes me teary and reminds me of the first time I read the book and realized Harry was going to sacrifice himself. These lines always get to me: I cannot let them die in vain/They fought by my side/And fell with their pride/One a brother, lived with all his wit/Another taught me life, and how to deal with it.
Have you heard "Cold Wild Yonder"? That's another song that has good lyrics and is pretty musically solid.
AradiaLoveless March 27th, 2011, 10:35 am I really like this group too. In addition to the songs above, I would add "A House Grown with Ivy" about Merope. Sad and pretty IMO...
I9Ua84qn58o
I have heard it, wasn't a big fan of it....not sure why though, XD
Snapes_Girl June 11th, 2011, 3:19 pm My favorite Wizard Rock bands have always been Ministry of Magic and Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls (one-man band). Both bands produce high-quality songs, and the lyrics aren't cheesy like some Wizard Rock songs. I often wished Warner Bros. would hire them both to write songs for the HP soundtracks. They are brilliant!!
I love this song as well. It would certainly fit well on the HB7 soundtrack! Another song by OB is "Last Call" that sums up my feelings on how the books series ends. He is a great artist!
Lisl_Loveheart June 12th, 2011, 9:42 pm Oh dear! I have identified 33 Wrock bands mentioned on this thread! That is A LOT! I think it's quite exciting!
One of the things I admire most about J.K. Rowling's legacy is how her work inspires young people to be creative in many ways! It's lovely!
Now, I haven't heard any of these songs yet and wish there was a web radio about it (maybe there is? Maybe on Live365? I'll have to look that up) but I'll give it a try...
Thanks for posting all of these!
boushh June 12th, 2011, 10:36 pm There is a podcast that's like a radio show and I'm sure there are more. They used to have more episodes up, but it looks like they are re-uploading them or something.
Here is the link to Accio Potter Wizard Radio (http://accio-potter.com/apwr/)
You can also search on youtube since a lot of the bands put their stuff up there too. :)
Fury June 13th, 2011, 4:55 am My favorite wizard rock songs are:
Lumos Flies by "I talk to snakes" - I think that is their group name. Just love it. The fact that it is Ron/Hermione song immediately won me over, but it is also a parody of Fireflies by Owl City, which I absolutely love.
Apologize - Ministry of Magic
Love this version from them. Tells of Ron's tale in Deathly Hallows, when he had the locket, and when he left Harry and Hermione. Just amazing, and just as good as OneRepublic's actual version.

It's by ALL CAPS. :) italktosnakes is Kristina Horner's youtube channel. She's one half of the duo. Luke Conard from Ministry of Magic is the other half.
And yeah, I really like this song as well.

I very much agree. :)

Ah, thank you! I wasn't exactly sure the name of their group.
FiendfyreMusic June 27th, 2011, 6:47 am Nothing like reviving an old thread!
We just uploaded our new demo. It's called the Order is Strong, and it's about the original Order of the Phoenix. Along with our first demo, Kreacher, we're now 2/17ths of the way done with recording the demos of our back story concept album

Lisl_Loveheart June 27th, 2011, 8:03 am I found an online radio station! :) That is what I wanted, because I can listen to the songs and then decide which ones are worth buying! It's www.wrock.com I'm giving it a try.
FiendfyreMusic June 28th, 2011, 8:42 pm Lisl,
I think you mean http://wrockbox.com/
In other exciting news, we finally got enough fans that we can have our own fancy Facebook address: www.facebook.com/fiendfyremusic

Zerojj1 July 5th, 2011, 6:48 am I like this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-nni4O9q3A by The Remus Lupins and have some albums from Harry and The Potters on my Ipod. My friends don't like when I play them but they just don't understand.

Holy moly! Those are some serious production values! The video particularly so; looks pretty high budget with costumes and visual effects, etc.

Yeah, lots of Wizard Rocker cameos in there too. :)
faruss July 14th, 2011, 3:59 pm I always knew Wizard Rock bands existed but never really gave it a chance. I'm off to listen now!
Kings_Cross July 22nd, 2011, 11:08 am I really like Oliver Boyd & The Remembralls, his songs have made me cry on more than one occasion. Everyone mentions [I]End of an Era and Open at the Close which are great places to start but some other great OB&TR songs are Bridge to the Other Side. This song "takes place" from Harry's point of view after Sirius' death. And then there's The Hallows which is also from Harry's POV (many of his songs are) regarding the search for the Hallows. The song feels somber but the lyrics are hopeful.
Another to check out Ministry of Magic. They are kind of a techno pop group. Most of their songs are more light-hearted such as: Gryffindor Rally Cry. I've put this one on my running playlist more than once! But then they have a song called Ascendio which talks about how Harry feels after receiving his Hogwarts letter and learning he's a wizard. It's surprisingly serious and really touching.
PatronusCharm July 23rd, 2011, 7:48 pm I started listening to Wizard Rock about a year ago, and I really like it! One of the first bands I listened to and liked was The Brothers Black, though sadly they only have three songs out. They're all great songs, and the band members have brilliant voices. My favourite is Kiss Me (Hermione's Lament). However, I also love The Butterbeer Experience, Ministry of Magic, Oliver Boyd and RiddleTM. They're all such fantastic bands and I know that there are many more out there!
asphodelxrose July 24th, 2011, 7:12 am I personally love Draco and The Malfoys, but that's probably only because they're the only ones I've actually listened to besides Harry and The Potters.. and a few others.
Loopy_LoonyLuna July 25th, 2011, 6:20 pm I love and would reccommend:
Ministry of Magic
The song Wizard Rock by The Boyz Who Lived
The Whomping Willows
Tonks and the Aurors :)
Dobson July 25th, 2011, 6:44 pm Ministry of Magic is easily the best Wrock band for me. Though I love End of an Era by Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls, except I hardly listen to it because it makes me too sad.
The Bravest Man I Ever Knew by Ministry of Magic is one of the best Wrock songs out there, check it out!

I want to bawl my eyes out everytime I hear end of an era and open at the close by Olliver Boyd and the Remembralls.
Frogki August 2nd, 2011, 4:32 pm I want to bawl my eyes out everytime I hear end of an era and open at the close by Olliver Boyd and the Remembralls.
Thank you for posting that, I looked it up and oh my gosh I was nearly in tears by the end... "I will miss, the train ride in"...
That just happened to be my first Wizard Wrock experience and I loved it...
lord_moldywort August 2nd, 2011, 5:02 pm I just listened to end of an era after reading the last couple of posts in this thread and now I'm crying uncontrollably. These songs really show how much Harry Potter means to it's fans.
thisisaidan August 2nd, 2011, 5:10 pm To anyone who likes Wizard Rock I would recommend The Whomping Willow's! They have an indie rock sort of vibe... kind of sounds like '90's rock, which I love. The songs "Harry and Draco" (even though I don't ship them) and "I Believe In Nargles" are my favorites. :D

You're welcome! I'm glad I could help introduce you to some excellent wrock. I am just getting into it myself. Be sure to check out The Whomping Willows like thisisaidan suggested- I believe in Nargles is one of my favorite songs.
Also, all of Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls stuff is excellent, and I also like Harry and the Potters and the Remus Lupins. Gonna check out Ministry of Magic next.
MissMarauder August 2nd, 2011, 10:41 pm Has anyone made a public channel/playlist on LastFM, Grooveshark, or the like? I'd like to listen to that for a sampling. I've tried to find a Wrock Radio, but to no avail.
MCDahB August 2nd, 2011, 11:06 pm So, one of the things that I've thought a bit about is that I'd wish more Wrock groups would do songs where the music as well as the lyrics has a magical/playful/out-there feel to it. I'm a fan of a lot of the straightforward stuff but I have this nagging feeling that wizard rock at its best shouldn't just be regular old folk or pop or rock music but with HP lyrics. I think the bands that I've heard who play with this notion best are those like "Remus and the Lupins" (not to be confused with the Remus Lupins), Basilisk in Your Pasta, and the wonderful Dobby and the House Elves (from Australia). The last band is a good example of how I think a lot of the rougher, more haphazard wizard rock bands can pull of some more interesting and, I think more fitting things, than the more polished and straightforward wrockers can. Thoughs?
Sergio182 August 2nd, 2011, 11:09 pm Ice cream man is an awesome song I love it, thanks for sharing this. I think I read about them somewhere but I never really listened to any of their songs, they're great!
MCDahB August 12th, 2011, 6:08 am In the event that anyone here is interested, I've just uploaded Ginny and the Heartbreakers "Love Storm" to the brand new and official Ginny Bandcamp Page (http://ginny.bandcamp.com). So, if you like to stream or download the album for free, now you can. Enjoy. Also, the I'm planning to spruce the site up soon, and maybe talk the girls into letting me put a couple of unreleased recordings on.
Justincase August 23rd, 2011, 10:46 am AWESOME! A WIZARD ROCK THREAD! Hahaha this is SO great! My favourite is Olive Boyd and the Rememberalls though the first wrock song I ever heard was by Ministry of Magic (I think it wsa goodbye Privet Drive...). Long story to tell how I ended up listening to that video in youtube.. hahaha But well then I found about wrock box which is AWESOME (when it works which is unfortunately not often) but well you can check out the website from time to time to see if it's back on air. It's a wrock radio but it's been down for like... months now. But it used to be pretty awesome really. You could ask for music and everything. And they update they site with news: album releases, concerts and the like. Unfortunately I'm a bit too far from the concerts... Anyway they changed the look of the site a little time ago and it looks amazingly beautiful now. But's still not working. But It'll be back. At some point. Here's the link anyway: http://wrockbox.com
And well, I looked this thread up really because I've just found how Wrock started. Yeah, pretty awesome, I know. It's everything here in Harry: A History (that's a book which talks about HArry Potter fandom through the years) website. Link: http://harryahistory.com/2009/02/proof-of-wizard-rock.html
And well it's extremely awesome to know it started like that. With Harry and the Potters which is actually how this thread started too. But anyway.... check all that out. And then, just wanted to say, not ALL Oliver Boyd songs are sad. Check this one out too, which is the most awesome wrock song I've ever heard (with a pretty cool video btw):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uFk8JcwfX4
And then you can look for
-Mischief Managed
or
-Boy who Lived
or even better
-Spells and Scars
or any other really.
Long live to WRock!:D
Lisl_Loveheart November 4th, 2011, 10:02 pm I caved! lol My 8 year old daughter found a bunch of videos on youtube and listened to Ministry of Magic so often that I had to buy their songs... Nice ones! Accio Love, Lovegood! :) Also I ended up getting "My Dad is Rich" by Draco and the Malfoys (love it!) and I Believe in Nargles :)
Taquiq November 5th, 2011, 3:13 am I like Raise your Goblet by Dobby and the House elves! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHAHxuRTpq4
Justincase November 5th, 2011, 1:52 pm I believe in Nargles's awesome:D And the parody of Raise your Glass also very good. Btw Wrockbox (the wizar rock on-line radio) is going on air again (finally!!) on July 2012 to stay working... forever! This are great news for the Wrock community:D Want to know more¨? Follow wrockBOX on facebook:)
MrSleepyHead August 6th, 2012, 5:57 am I had my first foray into wizard rock last night at a Harry and the Potters concert in Denver, CO. It was quite interesting and most certainly outside my normal range of Harry Potter comfort. Despite being what I consider a true fanatic of the series, wizard rock is a facet of the fandom that I have never truly ventured into, but when a sample of that sect was so close I pounced on the opportunity.
The show was made infinitely better by an opener by the Potter Puppet Pals, and I found that when the wrock music began it was very tolerable. Harry and the Potters played with incredible energy and enthusiasm that seeped their way into me, and I ended up enjoying myself. It was also great to see Harry Potter fans gather for an event outside a book, movie, or theme park. However, I am still left with the impression that while the concert was engaging, the atmosphere is really what made it enjoyable. The music itself is generally outside my genre, but the combination of the instrumentation and the lyrics make it fairly difficult to listen to outside the atmosphere of a concert. So while I enjoyed the concert and would certainly attend others, I remain an onlooker to the world of wrock music.
