Chapter 1 Too Many Questions

Hogwarts was going to release the students early since the letters for withdrawl od their sons or daughter were mountaining covering the desk of new temporary Headmistress Professor McGonagall. She was never to be seen now though since she has so much to handle but students were used to it since last year Dumbledore had been doing the same thing.

While some students were still busy with their own stuff, dicussing about holidays like it was a normal vacation, harry was alone in his dormitory pretending to be asleep so Ron would leave. Harry was feeling better than he felt after Sirius's death but he was still hurt. Whenever he thought about Dumbledore's death, his stomach starts shrinking twiching making him sick and his mind kept thinking about the same question, Why? Why Dumbledore? Why did Snape do that? Why did Dumbledore freeze harry? Why didn't anyone stop Snape? Why wasn't he able to fight Snape? And his mind kept wandering and again he ended up thinking the question Why? This cycle never stopped. He knew the only way to answer these questions would be Dumbledore but Dumbledore left him alone in the middle of no where. Dumbledore was gone and he was never coming back..............

Harry heard someone enter the dormitory and his chain of thoughts was broken by that sound. He looked to see that not one but two of his friends have entered the dormitory, Ron and Hermione. He also noticed that Hermione looked like she was ready to go somewhere and then Harry realized that it was the last day at school and he had to pack up. He was just about to climb down from the bed when he saw that Ron and Hermione hadn't realized that he was awake. He did notice that both Hermione and Ron were blushing but he had too many questions to worry about that and he just climbed down the bed when Ron was about to say something to Hermione, and was moving closer to her. Now that harry had already made noise, Ron and Hermione had realized that Harry was awake.

And Hermione said, "Good Morining harry, I was here to remind you that you should pack up". Harry noticed that she was still blushing.

Harry Knew what was going on and replied, "Yeah sure" and then continued, "May I ask what was Ron here for?"

Ron who was looking out of the window cursing harry for waking at the wrong time, replied "This is boys dormitory, I am allowed to be here mate. Besides I was here when Hermione came-" He was blushing so hard that his cheeks were as read as his own hair.

But harry realized that both of them are not going to tell me even though they both know that I know. But he didn't want a fight so he said, "Ok I believe you and whenever you are ready to tell me the truth, just come to me ok?"

Ron was going to say What truth when hermione mouthed him to stop and said to harry, "Harry now that I have remind you to pack, my job is done here. I will go now to have breakfast." She was about to leave when Ron said that he was hungry too and they both left to have "breakfast".

Harry started packing and in !5 min he was done with everything but his one robe. There was no space in the trunk left to put it so he decided to take out a package that was in the trunk. It was unpacked but harry forgot what it was, so he opened it and saw that it had a mirror.

It is a short but fun chapter to read and I would appreciate some negative or Porsitive feedback.

Harry held the mirror tightly, he remembered how an year ago he was thinking that maybe Sirius would answer his call. Even now after an year later, harry was not entirely sure of Sirius's death. His brain keeps telling him that Sirius is dead since Sirius would have contacted him if he wasn't dead. But a tiny voice in harry's heart said just try it once more harry just once..........

Harry decided to follow his heart, he cleared his voice and as he had done it a year ago he was going to speak Sirius's name when Hermione came, he quickly hides the mirror and pretends that he didn't heard her coming and continues packing with the mirror hidden in his pocket.

Hermione saw everything but she also noticed that Harry wasn't ready to tell her about the thing he is hiding so she didn't press the point instead she said, "Harry, Ron and I thought thoroughly again and we decided to come with you to Privet Drive and everywhere you go --" she stopped to see his reaction but harry still continued to pack, so she left the room confused and dissatisfied (is that even a word? :huh: ).

Harry who had by now forgotten about the mirror that layed in his pocket and was focusing on what hermione had said now closed his trunk and sat on the bed imagning the reaction on Uncle vernon's face when Harry will tell him about Ron and Hermione. And when Uncle Vernon's face popped in his mind, he started to laugh. He looked crazy laughing by himself in am empty room.



Meanwhile Hermione and Ron were walking around the lake not thinking about Harry for the first time. Suddenly Ron stopped looked around thoroughly and said to Hermione, "Listen I..... From the 4th year...I realized that I..I uh I like you and I always wanted to ask this....uh Will you be my girlfriend?" Now that he had finally said it he was feeling so awkward that he wanted to die at that moment. Hermione who was blushing looked into Ron's eyes and with a smile she answered, "Yes! I also had the same feelings for you but last year....." Hermione stopped speaking because Ron had moved closer, he was moving closer and closer to hermione and Hermione's heart had reached her throat when they heard someone laughing.

Ron yelled, "Who is there?" And Ginny came out of what looked like harry's invisbilty cloak, and said "After Hermione left the room I went to Harry to borrow his invisbility cloak since I didn't wanted to miss this moment-" and then she continued, "I knew you were going to ask her out"

Hermione who was blushing very hard and was embarassed ran from there smiling to herself. And Ron was now staring at Ginny and said, "Great! See what you have done" and they both left for hogwarts.

Chapter 3 Mcgonagall's attempt

Harry was in his dormitory along with Ron and Hermione planning on how to tell the dursleys about Ron and Hermione's staying-with-harry decision, when Neville enterd and faced harry and said, "Professor Mcgonagall wants to speak to you and she is in Professor Dumbledore's ...... I mean her new office". Harry thanked Neville and left for Mcgonagall's office.

When he reached there he realized that he had forgotten to ask the password again. He was abotu to go back when he heard a voice calling,"Mr. Potter follow me, we will not be discussing this in my new office" and harry turned around and saw Mcgonagall and before following her, he asked' "What are we going to discuss-" but Professor Mcgonagall interupted "Not here Mr. Potter, We will go to my office first and then we will talk" So harry became quiet and followed her.

When they reached her old office she invited him in and closed the door and offered him a seat. Harry took it and sat while looking at Profesor's blank face. Professor Mcgonagall was standing and facing him after 2 or 3 mins of silence she spoke,"Harry I know I have asked this question before but you really need to tell me about yours and Professor Dumbledore's meetings" and looked at harry who seemed to have put on the blank expression similar to one Mcgonagall was wearing before. Harry looked at her and said,"I am sorry Profesor but I can't tell you that Dumbledore told me-" "Dumbledore, Dumbledore Dumbledore. Dumbledore is dead now, dear boy and we need that information that Dumbledore gave you" Mcgonagall interrupted.

Harry's blood was boiling because it seems like Profesor Mcgonagall had lost respect for Dumbledore but he didn't want to yell at her so instead he asked her a question that bothered him very little, "Who is the "we" you are talking about Professor?" Mcgonagall answered,"The Order, ofcourse". Harry thought about it for a while and said to Mcgonagall, "Ok I'll tell about the meetings between me and Dumbledore" Harry stopped and saw that Mcgonagall was very curious and the continued,"But I'll tell it infront of the Order in the meeting" The slight smile that was on Mcgonagall wiped off and with a bit anger in her voice she replied,"You can't join the order you are way too small-" but harry interrupted her and said,"Actually I can I'll be seventeen this summer." Profesor Mcgonagall now defeated said to harry,"Very well then you may go now" And harry left her old office.

On his way to dormitory Harry kept thinking why was Mcgonagall wanted to know about the meetings so badly. Why didn't Dumbledore tell her about the meetings when probably Snape knew? Why was Mcgongall angry when harry thought of telling the whole order about the meetings? Does she(Mcgonagall) know something? Is there another traitor in order that Mcgongall knows about? What was the reason about talking to harry in private? Consumed in all these thoughts harry forgot that the fat lady portrait was far behind until Ginny called him from behind and harry turned to her and together they entered the gryffindor common room where Ron and Hermione was waiting for harry.

Harry made sure that nobody was listening and told everything to Ron and hermione and Ginny about McGonagall's questions and his suspicion. Ron said, "No harry there can't be any more traitor in the Order it was Snape, just Snape" and Hermione seemed to be agreeing with Ron and said,"Ron is right harry you are just being tensed for no reason." Harry was about to argue when Hermione said,"I am tired and I am going to bed besides we are going back tommorrow" and Ron also said that he was tired and both of them left and went to their own Dormitories, leaving harry and Ginny alone, Harry was also about to say good night to Ginny when ginny said,"Harry I believe you there might still be a traitor but right now we have to get sleep since it is late and like hermione said we are going back tommorrow" Harry who was pleased that Ginny believed and understands him replied,"I guess you are right ginny we should go to beds and thanks for believing in me, I'll see you tommorrow then, Good night then" And ginny also said good night and they both left for their dormitories.

Chapter 4- The Last day

Harry woke up next morning, ready for everything and with everything. The thoughts that was in his mind the previous night were replaced by other troubling thoughts like who was going to explain to both Mr. Weasley and Mr. Granger the reason ron and hermione will be staying with harry until his birthday.The thoughts in his mind was soon interrupted by Ron's snores and he was having trouble sleeping and it looked like he was going to wake up. Careful not to wake up Ron, Harry dressed up and headed towards the common room.

He reached the Common room and saw a group of people around the notice book. There was a little note by Mcgongal, it said, "By 8:00 am, everyone should be in the Great hall. I have to gave few last minutes announcement. All must attend. No exceptions" Harry somehow read the whole notice and then turned and saw that Hermione was sitting and merged into a book.

Harry went to join her and then asked, "I heard that you and Ron are --" and harry stopped, assuming that Hermione might have understand. Hermione put the book down and replied, "Yes, Ginny told you that didn't she? and harry answered, "yes she did, but who could have known that you guys liked each other after what happened when Ron got a girlfriend?" Hermione told harry to stop talking about this topic and she kept blushing(like this - :blush: )

Harry and hermione kept talking about their last few years when their conversation was interrrupted by Ron who came in the Common Room and started talking, "I am hungry, let's go and have breakfast" And then both Harry and Hermione were reminded of Mcgonagal's note and all of them ran towards the hall.

Luckily they weren't that late for the announcement; most of the kids were late too. As everyone expected Mcgonagall stood up to announce. She said, "Today is the last day of this term, I don't know if Hogwarts will open next year. The Ministry requires us to have certain number of students to run the school. And I know that there are some students parents that will be picking their daugther/son by themselves, I will call you when your parents arrive but the rest of you will be taking the train, We have informed your parents that we will be releasing the students early.So your parents will be at the station and every compartment will be either accmpanied by a teacher or an auror. You may stay here or go back to your dormitories now."

Some of the students started to leave while some stayed. Harry, Ron and hermione stayed. Ginny spotted them and was coming to join them as well. When they all settled, Hermione started to say, "Harry...uh I uh - " when Ron interrupted, "Just say it Hermione" Hermione glared at him and said, "Harry, uh I hope you don't mind that I told Profesor Mcgonagal that we will be with you this summer" "What?" yelled harry, and continued (whispering this time), "Hermione I told you I suspect her and you told her where we are going" hermione who was trying to stay calm said, "Harry she is not a traitor and she is not going to attack but she is sending some Auror's for protection and don't worry they will be wearing invisibilty cloak-" "What?" Harry interrupted and continued sarcastically, "Great just what I need! More security!" hermione who now was helpless was looking for support, when Ginny said, "Harry, I think what Hermione did was right, I know you don't need security but if someone attacks....." Ron, who was also trying to calm harry down, said, "I think it is not such a big deal, its not like the aurors are going to the mission with us and besides it is for only like 25 days or so..." Harry, who was considering what Ginny and Ron said, continued, "Fine! it is cool but you didn't tell Professor Mcgongal anything else, did you?" Hermione with confident said, "Of course not! and I think since we are the only one left in the hall; we should probably leave and go back to our dormitory" And all of them headed towards Gryffindor tower.

The four of them(Ron, harry, hermione and ginny) carried their trunks to the trains, selected a compartment and took a seat, where they were soon accompanied by Luna, Neville and Tonks who was "the auror that will be accompanying(sp?) them." Tonks who looked a bit cheerful said, "Hiya, students, I am an Auror and I will be accompanying you" And then she came closer to harry and whispered, "I'll also be at the Privet Drive." Harry who didn't know what to say just nodded.

Everyone sat and looked at each other expecting anyone to start some kind of conversation, but it was luna who started it, She said, "So are you guys coming to school next year?" Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny murmured, "No idea" while Neville said, "I think I have a chance of coming though" And Luna said, "I think I'll be coming, I mean Hogwarts is the only safest place, The Minister of Magic is angry with my father and My father says that he doesn't want me attacked by Ministers herd of Vampires so he will send me to hogwarts for safety" Everyone was trying to control their laughter but Ron bursted out laughing continued by tonks and Neville spreading throughout the compartment except for two persons, Hermione who was annoyed by Luna and Luna who was annoyed by everyone else. After two or three minutes everyone shushed by Tonks. Now everyone was quiet again, waiting for station to arrive and harry who was just looking out of the window thought about the horcruxes.

Chapter 5 - Black Street

This chapter is short but I think some of you might enjoy it!!!!!! And I am sorry that I haven't been writing the chapters lately. There is so much school work but I will continue writing for people who enjoy my fanfic.

Miles and Miles away, from king cross station,and hours and hours later, a hooded figure walked through the foggy and cold night, their cloak making a smooth swishing sound with the ground. It was heading towards a street, there was a sign that read Black Street.

On the same street far away from the sign though was a small hut kind of house. Inside the house were one man and a boy, one was walking back and forth accross the room. The man was hooked nose and had greasy, parted hair.(Guess who?). The man looked tensed and eager as though waiting for someone. The boy though was sitting on a ripped, old bed which was also covered dust. The boy was young, blond and wore an angry expression. His eyes were following the man walking infront of him.

After a while he got impatient and start to walk towards the door when the hooked nose man waved his wand locking the door tightly. The boy turned towards him and said, "You can't keep me here for long. My mom, might be coming here any minute to get me."

The hooked man replied, "Then stay here and wait for her, Draco." But Draco wasn't satisfied with the answer, he said, "No, I can't wait anymore. I don't like living with you. You killed Dumbledore, Snape"

Snape looked at Draco with fiery eyes and said, "The only reason I killed Dumbledore was to save you. You have no idea what Dark lord would have done If I hadn't-" "Hadn't what?" Draco interrupted and continued, "Killed Dumbledore. No you are blaming all this one me. The only reason you killed Dumbledore was to get the glory. You wanted to be the most loyal servant of Dark Lord. You don't care if I die or not"

Snape who had regained his calm expression rooled his eyes and replied, "Steal your glory. Your hand was practically shaking, you were in no condition to kill Dumbledore. And if any of the order members would have saved Dumbledore then the Dark Lord would have killed you and-" Snape was interrupted by a noise outside the door. Draco took out his wand and Snape peeked through out the window, and saw a figure, Snape was surprised but recognized the figure so he opened the door, letting the figure in.

Draco saw her, recognized her, slid his wand inside and went to greet her. "Aunt Bella" he said and continued "My mom said she would be coming here today. Where is she?"

Bellatrix removed her hood and replied, "The ministery took her for questioning again. They won't rest until they find you because after the death of Dumbledore nobody will feel safe until all of us are caught."

Draco who was more angry than before asked, "Why isn't Dark Lord doing aything? Will he just sit there doing nothing?" Bellatrix who can't believe the Draco said such rude things about Dark Lord replied, "The Dark Lord can't do anything, if he does than your mom will get in more trouble. And you didn't even finish his job"

Draco who had heard enough yelled, "His job is done. Dumbledore is dead. What does he want now?" Bellatrix replied in a stern voice, "You didn't do the job. Snape did it. And the Dark Lord is not happy with it, he can't trust you with anymore missions." "So why can't he punish me? Why is he punishing my mother by not helping her?" Bellatrix decided not to answer his question. Instead she said, "Due to constant questioning at Ministry she might be coming to stay here" Draco who was astonished said, "She can't come here. This place is horrible and-" "the only safe place where you all can hide for now" Bellatrix interrupted. Then she continued, "You should be thankful that the Black family built another house that was unknown to Sirius and all the other tratiors of Black Family."

After few minutes of silence Bellatrix said, "There was another reason I came. Dark Lord wants us all to meet on July 24th in the graveyard. He is planning to attack on-" But she was interrupted by Snape who said, "I know when and where. It was discussed between us even before the attack on Hogwarts. I'll tell Draco everything later."

Bellatrix who looked a bit uncomfortable with Snape's complete knowledge said, "Very well then, I'll be going now. Narcissa might join you in this week. Don't forget the meet on July 24th though" And she opened the door and dissapeared in the dark and left Snap with satisfied expression but Draco with confused expression.

Chapter 6 Back to Privet Drive.

So finally Chapter 6 is up. Sorr i haven't posted for a while. This chapter is short like the others but it gives you tiny bit of info about my fanfic and also leaves you curious for Chapter 7. Harry was in the car now, eagerly waiting for the first time to get to Privet Drive. He wanted to talk to about mission and other things to Ron and Hermione but since he was in a car full of Auror and some Order Members, thanks to Hermione for telling McGonagall about their stay, he will not be able to. Harry’s mind as always was full of thoughts. How is he going to convince Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia about Ron and Hermione’s stay and the Auror protecting them? How was he going to tell Aunt Petunia about Dumbledore’s death? How was he going to tell Order about his meetings with Dumbledore in his first Order meeting? And lastly where and how was he going to find about RAB and all the horcruxes? But soon his chain of thoughts was interrupted by a sudden stop of the car since they have reached Privet Drive.

Harry got out of the car along with Ron and Hermione to get their trunks ad go inside the house but to his surprise he saw that Mr. Weasley was already with Uncle Vernon possibly explaining him about the situation. Uncle Vernon seemed angry and confused, Dudley was as usual hiding in the corner due to the past events that has happened to him whenever a wizard arrives and Aunt Petunia sat on the corner of sofa, her face pale and her eyes wide open. And Harry picked up his trunk and went inside the house to make sure everything was all right.

He entered the house, Ron and Hermione following him. Mr. Weasley turned and greeted Harry and Hermione and tells them to join him because Mr. Weasley thought that he could use a bit help.

But Aunt Petunia who was a bit impatient asked Harry, “Is Dumbledore really dead?” Harry who was a bit shocked by Aunt Petunia’s question replied,
“Yes, he is dead.” But Petunia wasn’t satisfied she asked another question, “How?”

And Harry replied, “He was killed by Snape.”

“Snape?” asked Petunia in a confused manner, “That boy with awful hair and filthy teeth and hooked nose?” “Well, yes that’s him” said Harry then continued, “Yeah he does look like that – Hang on, how you know how he looks like?”

“Well” said Petunia, and continued, “He came once to our house.”

“Our house?” asked Uncle Vernon “When?”

“No not this house” replied Petunia and continued, “He came to my Parents house when Lily and I were small”

“Do you know why he came to your Parents, though?” asked Hermione, speaking to Aunt Petunia for the first time.

“He never told us” replied Petunia and continued, “Besides why would we want to know he lived nearby us”

“He lived near by you?” asked Harry surprised.

“You lived near Spinner’s end?” asked both Mr. Wealsey and Hermione.

“How do you know where Snape lived?” asked Ron to Hermione

“I read it in a newspaper article”, replied Hermione.

“And you never told me?” asked Harry to Hermione

“And me too!” exclaimed Ron.

“Silence!” yelled Vernon

Everyone went quiet and then Vernon said to Petunia, “I don’t know what they are talking about but I need you to tell us the whole story”

“OK! I will tell you about everything that you or they want to know but first you all need a day’s rest including me” replied Petunia.

“What? Come on Aunt Petunia I am not tired” replied Harry.

“Tired or not I will tell it to you tomorrow. Now take your friends to your room and I’ll see if I can make arrangements for your friends to sleep” said Petunia.

“What?” yelled Uncle Vernon and continued, “You are letting them stay”

"Yes, because you don't know what has happened Vernon. Harry will need his friends. I know the whole stroy. Remember? I have been told everything by Dumbledore" said Petunia

And with that Harry, Ron and Hermione left for their room.

Harry was curious for the morning, in fact he wasn’t able to sleep all night. Why was Snape in connection with his Mom? Why haven’t anyone else told him that his mom used to live near Snape? Is that why his mom had sympathy with Snape? Did his mom or Snape too embarrassed to tell anyone they lived near each other? And more importantly if his Mom and Snape were friends then how come Snape never treated his mom well? There were all these questions but there was no one to answer them and the one that could possibly have an explanation was somewhere in another dimension or world with his Mom, Dad, Cedric and Sirius.

Hermione was also awake, she was worried that Harry might not also be sleeping but Aunt Petunia has given her the living room couch to sleep in so she really can’t check up on Harry. She had known about Snape living in Spinner’s end but she never could have guessed Harry’s mother living there. She had a feeling that something will distract them from the mission in Privet Drive but also she knew that the worse was yet to come. She has a feeling that something worse is going to happen rather than finding out about Snape and Harry’s mother living near each other.

Even Ron had some doubts. He wanted to sleep but Harry’s fidgeting was disturbing him. But what could Ron do? He knew the situation; he couldn’t blame Harry for being tense. But still Ron thought that it was no big deal even if Harry’s mother’s family was living near Snape’s house. I mean being neighbor doesn’t make you friends. If Malfoy was living near him, it won’t mean that they were really good friends. He wished Hermione or Ginny were here to comfort Harry because he had a lot to say to him but he didn’t think it was a right time. Even his father had left for the Burrow so even his father can’t tell Harry to sleep for now.
All he could do now is wait for the morning to come so Harry’s aunt can explain everything.

After the long non-ending, dark night came the morning with 20 days left till Harry’s Birthday. Harry, who was hardly asleep that night, had dark circles underneath his eyes and his hair was more messed up then usual due to fidgeting and he looked tired like he had come back from the Triwizard tournament’s task. But he couldn’t care less about his appearance right now. All he wanted to do is to find out about his mother the thing he wanted to do for years.

He noticed that Ron was in the middle of sleep that it looked like he has started to sleep only a few hours ago. And Harry went down the stairs without getting dressed only to find Hermione awake and ready to learn the whole story. She looked a bit worried, than usual.

Harry went to her and asked, “What’s bugging you, Hermione?”

Hermione replied, “The only thing that is bugging me is that why is that no one ever bothered to tell you that your mother and Profe- I mean Snape, lived near each other?”

Harry replied with a sigh, “It is not the first time; is it Hermione? I mean people tell me they have “reasons” to hide things from me but now it’s just too late to get the answers”

“Why do you think that way?” asked Hermione.

“Well, the person from whom I could get the answers is dead” replied Harry.

Hermione had no answer to Harry’s comment. Luckily, Aunt Petunia arrived interrupting Harry and Hermione’s conversation. She sat down beside Hermione, and waited for everyone else to arrive.

About 20 minutes later, Ron appeared and Aunt Petunia didn’t bother to wait for Uncle Vernon since he wouldn’t understand what she is talking about anyways. After making sure that everyone was settled. She started to tell the story, “When I was small, I was jealous of Lily, She was both the smarter and the beautiful one” She stopped for few seconds and then continued, “So whenever she came back form school, I was always disappointed and I always used to peep in her room to see what she was doing. Lily didn’t like staying at home all the time so she always visited the neighborhood parks to make friends and I followed her, and after her first year at Hogwarts she came back during summer vacation and accidentally she ran into Snape who was just sitting there alone. Apparently Snape hadn’t made any friends at Hogwarts yet. Lily felt bad for him and they became friends. Lily told me many things about Snape, and how James used to tease him at Hogwarts. But even though Snape was her friend they never let anyone know about their friendship at Hogwarts since Snape had a reputation of hating her. But during third year Snape became friends with the bad group and he was so influenced by that group that he started calling Lily a mudblood by 4th-5th year. And Lily was so hurt by his comments at school that she stopped talking to him and became friends with James instead. Snape tried to apologize to Lily but their friendship already had a hole in it. But my Parents liked Snape a lot, and wanted Lily to marry him but Lily already liked James and she left the house and later married James”

Harry was a bit relieved but not fully, he asked, “Wait, my mom stopped talking to him because he called her a mudblood, but before that did she like him?”

Petunia answered, “No your mother always felt sorry for Snape but never liked him more than a friend, I actually knew that she liked James because she always talked about James after 2nd year, but only how she hated him but anyone could tell she was lying, she was torn between Snape and James, but she was always angry when James made fun of Severus.”

“Well that explains everything!” exclaimed Hermione

“Huh?” said Ron, Harry and Petunia together.

“Well not everything” said Hermione and continued, “But it does explain why Snape hates you and your father and has never really spoke ill of your mother.”

“Yeah, it really could be the reason Snape hated Harry more than any other Gryffindor for that matter.” said Ron.

“I have one more question Aunt Petunia”, requested Harry.

“Go on!” exclaimed Aunt Petunia.
“Well, did Snape fancy my mom?” asked Harry hesitantly.

“Well, I didn’t know what was going on in his mind” said Petunia

“No one does” muttered Ron slowly and continued, “I mean he is very good at Occlumency.”

“Ron, Mrs. Dursley was talking in general sense not as in Occlumency” said Hermione, with a bit of frustration in her voice and then continued, “Sorry Mrs. Dursley, please continue”

“Thanks, Hermione. Well Snape looked like he fancied Lily. I mean he came to us almost every day in the summer to apologize to Lily but when Lily decided to accept his apology, he messed up.”

“Messed up?” asked Ron

“Well by the time Lily decided to accept his apology, but then James came over, and Snape got jealous and before everything could be explained, Snape stopped talking to Lily and to make it up to him, Lily prohibited James for making fun of Snape ever again and also told James to never mention to Snape, that Lily told James to not tease Snape.”

“So even though Snape never knew it, my mother was the reason my father stopped teasing Snape” said Harry.

“Yes, but later when my mom wanted Lily to marry Snape, Snape was never informed about it so Snape never knew there had been a talk about it” said Petunia.

“But then how come Snape still hates your father?” asked Ron.

“Well, maybe he did like my mother and when he heard that my father was going to marry my mother, he might have got jealous of him again” suggested Harry.

“Well, now you children know the story. You should go and rest and I’ll have breakfast ready for you in a minute. And let me go check on Dudley” said Petunia and left the trio alone to “rest”.

Harry watched Hermione and Ron, hoping for something but when they said nothing he whispered, “Do you think anyone else knows about my mom and Snape’s friendship?”

“I don’t think anyone knows that they were friends, I mean remember Mrs. Dursley told us that Snape acted as he didn’t know your mom during school. They only were friends during summer vacation” said Hermione.

“Well we know the story now, I don’t think it will be good to discuss it since there are Aurors hanging around” said Ron.

“Just one more question” said Harry and continued, “Aunt Petunia how do you know so much about my mom?”

“Well, your mother told me a lot about her school, I may be jealous of her but I still had a good relationship with her after all I was her sister and other things were explained to me my Dumbledore, he expected me to be sympathetic with my sister” explained Aunt Petunia.

“Well do you know anything else?” asked Hermione, “You know about Mr. and Mrs. Potter after they were married.”

“Well after Lily left the house I got married too and I got on with my life and I never got a letter from Lily, and besides many people were dying in our world because of that Dark wizard, so we too had a little communication or no communication at all” said Petunia.

“Although I did get a letter from her once explaining that she was fighting against that Dark wizard, and that she was also in some Order but she said that she also had a job in the ministry and that she can’t “speak” about it so I don’t know what job she had in the ministry” said Petunia.

“Thanks Aunt petunia you have helped us a lot” said Harry.

“I am hungry; I want food, mom” said Dudley

“Coming dear” said Petunia and continued, “Excuse me, dear.”

“Yeah we are going to a walk” said Harry. And with that the trio left the room.

Harry, Ron and Hermione were sitting in Harry’s room talking about their past few years in Hogwarts. Ron said, “You know Harry Hogwarts was lucky and great for us until-”

“Until Lord Voldemort came back” continued Harry with a sigh.

“You know I never thought staying in Privet Drive would be fun” said Hermione, trying to change the topic.

“Yeah, I mean the way you mentioned it I thought your Uncle will murder me as soon as I stepped into the house” said Ron

“Yeah it’s a bit strange now isn’t it?” said Harry

“What are you talking about?” asked Ron with a worried look on his face

“I mean 6 years ago I would have given anything to get away from privet drive and now this horrible place is more fun than magical world” said Harry

“Come on Harry, cheer up” said Hermione and continued, “It is all going to be fine”

“Yeah, I hope so” said Harry

“What date is today?” asked Hermione, trying to change the topic again

“I think it is 25th of July today” replied Ron

“Well time sure flies by, I mean it like yesterday we came here” said Hermione

“Well in 6 days it’s your birthday Harry” said Hermione

“Yeah that reminds me, Harry” said Ron and continued, “For some reason Aurors will be leaving on July 30th and my dad will be picking you up at 12, sharp”

“Didn’t they tell you why they were leaving” asked Hermione

“I did” said Ron and continued, “But they told me that I will find it out as soon as I get the Daily Prophet”

“Yeah, how come that owl didn’t appear today” asked Harry

And with that they heard a tap on the window class and saw an owl with Daily Prophet in his beak.

“That was a very freaky coincident” exclaimed Ron

“Forget that” said Harry, who just saw the newspaper headlines, continued, “I know why the Aurors are leaving early”

“What is it?” asked Hermione and took the paper from Harry and started reading.
Prisoners from the Azkaban fled…again!
Seems to be the work of You-Know-Who, the prisoners of Azkaban fled again. It seems that all the guards were sleeping when this happened and that most of the ministry Aurors were busy. When asked by the minister about the Aurors he said that he can’t tell us where they are because it’s something that has to be kept as a secret, but he says that Ministry Aurors will resume work soon. But on asking about the Prisoners, nobody gave any comments. It seems like we might get more blows from You-know-who, who gave us the very first blow by killing Dumbledore. And still Aurors are unable to do anything.

“Oh no!” said Ron and continued, “That’s horrible”

“Do you really thing L...Lord Voldemort did this?” asked Hermione

“I am not so sure” said Harry and continued, “I mean, Voldemort never really forgives his prisoner”

“Maybe he changed his mind” suggested Ron

“Yeah, Professor Dumbledore is out of his way so maybe he decided to get them back” said Hermione

“But how come few Aurors were present in Ministry?” asked Harry and continued, “I mean only few are present here and others should be in the ministry, and besides they all have their shifts and everything”

“I think that maybe Aurors were on another mission, I mean your protection might not be only thing they have to do. They might have other jobs to do too” said Ron

“Maybe” said Harry

“But now we at least know the reason why Aurors are leaving early” said Hermione

“Why did Snape do it?” asked Harry

Hermione didn’t know how to answer it because it has been a while before Harry brought up Dumbledore’s death to them.

“Who knows mate” said Ron and continued, “He was always a bit nuts if you ask me”

“Well anyways, now that the Auror will be gone in 6-7 days, we will have more privacy than usual” said Hermione

“Yeah I guess so” said Harry and with that he stopped because they heard another tap on the window and they saw another owl.

“I thought we paid the money” said Ron

“It’s not the Daily Prophet owl, Ron” said Hermione and continued, “It’s a different owl”

“I’ll get it” said Harry and opened the window and also retrieved the letter

“Who is it from?” asked Hermione

“It doesn’t have a name” said Harry

“Do you have the spell that will tell us the name of the sender Hermione?” asked Ron

“I am afraid not” said Hermione to Ron and then she turned towards Harry and said, “Well what are you waiting for, open it”

“Okay” said Harry and opened the letter and they all started to read it

To Mr. Potter,
You are in great danger. I suggest you leave Privet Drive as soon as possible. You are to not look for who I am nor worry about it but you have to trust me. Leave before it is 30th July.

“I have seen that writing before” said Harry, trying to remember

“Well it has to be someone who knows you very well and someone formal” said Hermione

“How do you know” asked Ron

“Well I don’t think someone really informal to Harry would say,
‘Mr. Potter’ in the letter” said Hermione

“I guess” said Ron

“Well maybe it is someone from the Order, Harry” suggested Hermione

“But aren’t some of the Auror and people protecting me, outside? Then why would they send me the letter” asked Harry

“Maybe they don’t trust the ministry Aurors around them” said Hermione

“Yeah, maybe” said Ron

“What do you think we should do though?” asked Hermione and continued, “I mean should we leave or not?”

“I think we should leave” suggested Ron and continued, “that letter sounds pretty serious to be a Fred and George prank”

“But what if someone wants us to leave, as in like a trap” said Hermione and continued, “since we are protected here and all, what if we leave and we are attacked” said Hermione

“But it says July 30th, and that’s when the Aurors leave” said Ron

“It says before July 30th, not on it which means it’s a trap” said Hermione

“Stop it, you too” said Harry and continued, “I am not leaving until its July 31st. Firstly, because Dumbledore wanted me to stay and secondly because we don’t know who wrote the letter to us and I can’t trust an unknown person”

“But what if this person is right” asked Ron

“Then we will face the situation” said Harry and continued, “We have to face it sooner or later, the sooner the better”

“You sound like Mad-eye moody” said Ron

“Maybe but now that we have decided what we will do, I was wondering if we should go visit Mrs. Figg” said Harry

“Okay” agreed Hermione

“Why?” asked Ron

“Well, because we will be leaving Privet Drive forever and. even though she is a squib, she might tell us some useful information, and maybe she can advice us about the letter” said Harry

“Good point” said Ron

“Let’s go then” exclaimed Hermione

And with that they all left Harry’s Room and started to go to Mrs. Figg’s house even though they know that they will be followed by 2 or more Auror to her house.

Chapter 9 – Harry’s Birthday

The meeting with Mrs. Figg didn’t help much. She told them that she couldn’t think of anyone who could be this “Well-Wisher” guy/girl. Although she did say that the letter sounded like it was written by a man or a boy and the handwriting seemed like it too. But nevertheless, she told them not to trust him and just stay in the Privet Drive.

Finally came Harry’s Birthday and as soon as he got up, he found two owls one was Weasley’s owl, Errol and the other was unrecognizable. Harry opened his window and let them in. He went to Ron and tried to wake him and later when Ron didn’t, Harry ended up shouting at him to wake up. Hermione came to Harry’s room since she had waked up due to Harry’s voice. And so did the others, Hermione told him. But Ron only seemed half-awake but Harry thought that this was good enough and started to read the letter to them.

Dear Harry,
Happy Birthday! I know that you are legally able to do magic now in front of muggles but that doesn’t mean you should. We have send gifts and a cake for you. I will be picking you up today at 8 o’clock. Make sure you inform your aunt and uncle about that. I don’t want them to yell at me. And Harry, be careful since the guards are not there anymore to protect you. And I know Dumbledore told you what you are losing today. Stay with Ron and Hermione.
Mr. Weasley

“Well this letter reminds me of Sirius’s Letter in the 4th year” said Harry

“I think Mr. Weasley is right” said Hermione and continued, “We should be careful, since you loose your protection today”

“Well Open the other letter” said Ron who was awake by now

“This one is from Ministry” said Harry

“Well read it” said Ron

Harry opened the letter and started to read it

Dear Mr. Potter,
Happy Birthday, We suppose you know that you are now legally of an age to perform magic outside your school. But we would not recommend doing it unless it’s a life threatening situation. We would also like to inform you that since you are of age to start apparating, we are scheduling your test on Saturday. If you want to changes in this appointment, you can send us a letter within Ministry hours. Prepare yourself and enjoy your birthday. We will see you this Saturday.

“Well that was it” said Harry

“Good luck on the test” said Ron

“Anyways, have you guys packed yet?” asked Hermione

“I am used to last minute packing” said Harry

“Me too” said Ron

“Come down, everyone” called Aunt Petunia and continued, “Breakfast is ready”

“Coming Aunt Petunia” said Harry

Harry went down stairs and informed Aunt Petunia about Mr. Weasley’s plan. And all she did was nod and listen and when Harry stopped she did nothing but continued her work so Harry who was desperate for some reply asked, “So?”

Aunt Petunia looked at him with a confused look on her face and asked Harry, “So what?”

“Are you guys fine with him arriving here?” asked Harry

“As long as nothing happens to Dudley” said Aunt Petunia

“He won’t be doing anything if Uncle Vernon controls his temper” said Harry

“Watch your mouth, boy” said Uncle Vernon with an angry tone. Due to which Harry stopped the conversation. He didn’t want to fight on the last day with Dursleys

It was 2:00 pm; the trio was ready for Mr. Weasley even though he wasn’t going to arrive for another two hours. And due to Hermione’s nagging the last minute packing was done two hours ago before it was supposed to be.

Like the trio, the Dursleys were also ready to meet Mr. Weasley. Unlike three years ago, Mr. Durlsey was wearing something casual so it wouldn’t be ruined if his fire place is destroyed again. Dudley was as usual hiding behind the couch and had a memo in his hand to not eat any unknown candy. Petunia was not overreacting like the others, unlike them she was wearing a dress she usually wears when some guest are arriving and she was sitting on the couch trying to calm down her son.

They heard some noise, and were surprised since they weren’t expecting anyone for another two hours. But Aunt Petunia got up to get the door anyways, and when she opened it she found no one there. Two minutes later, the electricity was cut off and they were surrounded by darkness.

“Aaaaaaah” shrieked Aunt Petunia

Harry quickly took out his wand and muttered, “Lumos”

He noticed that they were surrounded by (to their surprise) only 3 death eaters, just as he was the night Lord Voldemort came back and the night Sirius died but there were more then. Harry muttered “Go” to Hermione and Ron and there were spells flying everywhere. While Hermione and Ron were fighting the blond death eater as well as Alecto, Harry was battling Amycus.

Amycus said, “Haven’t learned how to perform non-verbal spells. Have you Potter?”

“I don’t need that to defeat you” said Harry and muttered the spell, “Petrificus Totalus”

But the Death Eater blocked it and left Harry to attack the Dursleys. Aunt Petunia had already fainted and Uncle Vernon tried to stop him by yelling at the Death Eaters but the Death Eater grabbed Dudley and pointed his wand at him. Harry told Ron and Hermione to stop but something extraordinary happened. The wand of the Death Eater flew out of his hand and was grabbed by Dudley. Harry yelled at Dudley to give the wand to him but Dudley pointed the wand towards the Death Eater. And the Death eater started laughing at him and said, “You are muggle fool. You can’t perform magic, even though you have a wand.”

Dudley looked at the wand in his hand and the word, “Stupefy” came out of his mouth. Nothing happened so the Death Eater started laughing more wildly and then there was rage in Dudley’s eyes and he yelled the spell again with anger in his voice. And it worked, the Death Eater was stunned but barely so he recovered soon and pushed Dudley on the floor so his wand flew out of Dudley’s hand and the Death Eater grabbed his wand and disapparated and his fellow Death Eaters did the same.
As soon as they were gone, Harry saw that Dudley fainted. The lights came back on and Ron and Hermione were looking at Harry for explanation. But Harry merely shrugged and looked at Uncle Vernon for explanation. Aunt Petunia recovered and saw that everyone was staring at her face, surprised. And she asked, “What? Why are you all looking at me?”

Harry started to explain to Aunt Petunia what had happened since she was unconscious for the most of the part. And all her reactions were either gasps or her eyes getting wider. But Harry wished she wouldn’t do that because it makes him hesitate. And when he stopped Aunt Petunia asked him, “Are you sure Dudley performed that spell?”

“Well all I know is that I didn’t perform this spell and neither did Ron or Hermione” said Harry

“I told you to follow “Well-wisher’s” advice” said Ron

“But the Well wisher told us to leave because we will be in great danger today but this wasn’t great the Death Eaters didn’t even tried to hurt us they were just blocking our spells” said Hermione

“Yeah” agreed Harry and continued, “This isn’t normal. This wasn’t great danger at all, this was just a test”

Before anyone could ask Harry about this test, Dudley woke up and said, “Mom I performed magic”

“But How?” asked Aunt Petunia

“I don’t know I was just angry at the man for laughing at me and I just said the word and it worked” said Dudley

“But how did you know a word like that existed?” asked Harry

“I heard you sleep-talk once and you said Stupefy, so I guessed it was a spell and it just came to me today when I was facing that man” said Dudley

Now that Dudley had told Harry how he knew the spell, Harry wished he hadn’t asked him. He didn’t want Ron and Hermione to know that he gets nightmare. And just as he expected Ron and Hermione were looking at him but Harry ignored them and continued to see Dudley.

“But if Dudley can perform magic then does that mean he will have to go to your school?” asked Petunia

“I am not sending him to some weird hilly-billy school” said Uncle Vernon. It was the first time he spoke after the incident and he looked pretty serious.

“That school is not weird” said Harry and continued, “That school is just associated with magic”
Vernon gasped and made an angry face and said, “Out of my house, Potter. I have had it with all of you” He looked at Petunia and said, “If you want to live with me make sure that Dudley never performs magic or its divorce”

Harry who was very angry by now said, “Fine I will leave but I won’t come back if those guys do”

Uncle Vernon paused for a minute opened his mouth the closed it and then opened it again said, “You can stay till his dad comes but I want full protection from your community, or whatever you call it and I don’t want Dudley to perform m thing again”

“You can’t control his emotions which affect his abilities to perform magic” said Harry

“Don’t you say that “m-word” again” yelled Vernon

“Stop it you two. What is wrong with you?” asked Petunia

“It’s all because of you” said Vernon and continued, “You and your weird family”

“Don’t you start with me” said Petunia and whispered to Harry, “Go upstairs until the things calm down here, and take your friends since they will calm you down too while I’ll calm Vernon here.”

“Fine with me” said Harry and rushed upstairs while signaling Ron and Hermione to follow him

They went in to the room where Ron and Hermione were looking at Harry kicking everything around him with rage

“Stop it, it’s not helping at all” said Hermione

“Harry, what did you mean by test?” asked Ron randomly

“Test? Huh? What are you talking about? I don’t get it” said Harry

“You said that the Death Eaters were here for a test” said Ron

“Oh yeah!” said Harry remembering and continued, “Look, it’s not normal for Voldemort to send 3 Death Eaters to kill me. So obviously there was some other reason behind it. I am guessing that they were here to see if I had the protection and if I had learned some new spells or have any power to fight Lord Voldemort now that Professor Dumbledore is dead. I knew something was wrong when Amycus said that I haven’t learned how to master non-verbal spells yet”

“Yet? How did they know whether you have learned it or not before?” asked Hermione

“Snape; He must have told them that I don’t know how to perform non-verbal spells” said Harry

“Do you think that they will attack again? Now that even Dudley is magical?” asked Ron

“Dunno” said Harry

They heard a pop outside and heard the doorbell ring. Harry pulled out his wand and went downstairs to assist Aunt Petunia with opening the door in case there was second attack. But to their surprise it was only Mr. Weasley. In all this confusion they lost the track of time.

Mr. Weasley came inside and noticed the house destruction. Unaware of what had happened he asked, “Didn’t you used to keep your house a bit more…uh…cleaner?”

Harry explained everything to Mr. Weasley followed by Mr. Weasley’s gasps and eyes widening just like Aunt Petunia which made Harry feel like an alien. But in the end Harry had to end the story with Uncle Vernon’s demands to which Mr. Weasley said that he would soon contact the order to provide them with protection.

And at last when they were about to leave Harry asked, “Mr.Weasley, do they allow kids like Dudley to enter our school at this age?”

“I don’t think so Harry. I mean Dudley is a special case and they mostly allow children who show abilities like these when they are 11 not when they are 17” said Mr. Weasley and they left for Mr. Weasley’s house. And Harry just thought that this was the weirdest Birthday he ever had.
