I thought he was a very good actor, and I think he did a good job sticking to the character in the book. Cedric was my favorite character in GoF and in the book. I was sad when he died :upset:

Robert did an awesome job of playing Cedric. I really liked him in this role.

I liked his performance and all, he was a fairly good actor but every time I looked at him I thought: What on Earth is a Calvin Klein model doing in the middle of Scotland???? I'm sorry but his face was sort of square and modelesque and I couldn't help but see him as a model.

I know it's just me and I wish I could overpower that, but I can't. The joke's on me, I guess.

I thought he was a perfect Cedric. He personified what Cedric was. A handome guy who seemed to have everything going for him. Great casting. Him and Katie looked great together as well.

A couple months back, I was disappointed because he didn't fit my image of Cedric. But, eventually, my image of Cedric conformed to him and I think he was perfect for the part.

I loved Cedric! Although I missed the bath line because I had drank about a litre of pop from suspense and I had to go to the bathroom so bad! And that was the part when I left. I'm sad I missed it!! But I love Cedric so much and he is soooooooo handsome!! And when he dies, it was really sad, and I will admit it, I cried my eyes out. I don't know what it is, I just get so connected with the Characters in the books, how can you not cry? He did a really great job, he was perfect.

That was one of the funnier parts of the movie.

The movie was awsome! The best yet. The guy that played Cedric did a great job :tu:

He did great. I wish he had had a few more lines, but the ones he did have, he did very well. He was just the humble boy that I'd pictured. While everyone was completely against Harry it seemed that Cedric, in the book and movie, if he did or didn't believe Harry about putting his name in the goblet, he was still very fair to him.

The only line I didn't like of his is when they just got to the graveyard and he stood up and said "Where are we?"..I leaned over and whispered to my friend "A GRAVEYARD you idiot!" Haha.

He did great!And he was hot.=P

I thought he did a wonderful job, even though we didn't get to see much of him. I really liked how Harry and Cedric kept their cordially towards each other throughout the film. I was worried that they were going to mess that up somehow, but I was very pleased about how they interacted with eachother. The scenes where they confided in eachother what the next tasks were going to be were pretty near perfect, even if they sounded a little awkward. I was also very pleased with how everything turned out in the third task and the graveyard. It would have ruined everything if the actors failed to capture the scene like it was in the book, but they did beautifully and the entire thing was just brilliant.

I don't know why everyone is saying that the "take a bath" line was so funny. I mean, it wasn't. Anyhoo, he had like 6 lines the entire movie, so he did ok for what he had to do.

Good looking, perfect manners, sooo cute, Robert did a great job. I loved his relationship with Harry, his dad and other Hufflepuffs.

I preferred him in the book, because I didn't think Robert was THAT handsome. Honestly, I didn't think any of the characters were that attractive. Strangely, the prettiest character in the movie is probably Hermione. :huh:

But as for actual acting abillity, I do think he did pretty good.

He honestly did look attractive in every shot....they filmed the angles perfectly to make him out to be this astonishingly handsome 17-year-old. Well done, filmmakers.

Also, he did fine on his lines, I liked when Harry told him it was dragons for the first task and he just goes..."Seriously?" Such a natural response! :p

I agree...."Where are we?" was said in the wrong tone. That line is in the book, but Pattinson said it to be like..."Oh look, where have we ended up? Looks like a lovely place, what could it be?" rather than...."Uh-oh...where are we?"

It's too sad that there will be no more Cedric in the other movies. Such a handsome guy...

Whoa! He looked so hot in this movie! He acted very well in this movie and had that "thing" about him that seems like you know him and seen him act when you haven't or maybe it's just me.......Well anywho I thought he did really good and the scene where he says "Take a bath" had me cracking up so bad...just the way he looked and how he said it....here comes the giggles again!

I think Cedric did a great job, he did make it easy to like him and then really feel for him and his family when he died.

I think Robert Pattinson did an excellent job as Cedric. He fit the role perfectly, and played it just as well. However, I wouldn't want to be Pattinson, as he's not going to be in any more movies (unless something happens in Book 7, and eventually Movie 7, that brings back a Cedric reference or ghost or something).

Well, he's extremely attractive. But more importantly, he was a pretty good actor in this film. It's sad he won't be in any other HP films. Although I'll surely see anything even semi-tasteful that he stars in over the future.

Just mull things over in the hot water....I thought the death in the movie was even more emotional and dramatic. He could've used a couple more lines, but I still thought the part was well played.

I think he did really good, but the same thing with Cho, I only wish he would've been in the movie more...though he had the most time of all the champions besides Harry, I guess. He was very good looking also, I think they chose a good actor. He looked how I thought Cedric would've.

I think that Robert did a great job portraying Cedric. The part where he told Harry to take a bath with the egg made me laugh so hard..it was one of those moments that i dont think was supposed to be funny but it was hilarious..the look on cedric's face when he made the suggestion was priceless. The maze scene between harry and cedric was incredible. Robert and Dan did a great job portraying the angst and confusion of not knowing where to go or what to do..

When he's telling Harry to go to the Prefects' bathroom to open the egg. His expression was so funny I was laughing so hard my sister kicked me to stop. :p

Yeah, good casting of Cedric. My girlfriend remarked to me that she thought he looked exactly like the Cedric on the GOF book jacket (which is funny since that's kind of a cartoony caricature). I don't think Cedric is the most well-developed character in the series, but Pattinson did a good job with him.

I think he did a great job as Cedric. There was just one scene that didn't seem right to me which was when Harry and Cedric are running towards the Triwizard Cup. I didn't picture him yelling at Harry to take the cup, I pictured more of a defeatist look and him just kind of giving up.

robert did a great job playing cedric. dan and robert were very good in the maze. the only part that robert didnt do so good on was in the grave yard. but other than that i think he was perfect!

I think Pattinson portrayed Cedric as a stereotypical handsome and sporty public school boy down to perfection. This aint a bad thing, This is how I always believed Cedric should have portrayed as.

Well, he didn't exactly know that he was in great danger. He's just a confident individual and wasn't frightened by the atmosphere because he didn't know it was dangerous. He thougth it might be another part of the task.

Harry on the other hand, saw Tom Riddle's grave, and new that something bad was going to happen. I think Cedric's nonchalance made his movie death all the more terrifying.

He played the part well enough - I just didn't think he was the "handsome" boy I was expecting. He is good looking in an unconventional way - I was just expecting something else.

I thought he was a very good actor. I did think his 'where are we?' sounded a bit odd, but I think it would be a natural response for someone like Cedric, who would probably have assumed this was another part of the final task.

In the book Cedric told Harry to take the bath at the end of the Yule Ball. Harry waited a while to do it because of his stubborn pride. In the movie Cedric tells Harry a couple days before the second task. I thought it would have been better to follow the book here but also have Hermione scold Harry for being so stubborn.

At the beginning Hermione and Ginny trade a giggle when they first see Cedric. I guess they share the view of most of the female viewing audience.

Even if Robert Pattinson won't be doing any more Harry Potter movies, you can be confident that he will get other work.

Personally, I think that Robert did a great job with his role as Cedric. He looked the part and acted it as well. I wish he would have had more lines just because I always liked the Cedric character. But I understood that the movie primarly focused on the trio and their friendships. Anywho, two thumbs up for robert pattinson!!!! :-) and he wasn't too hard on the eyes either ;-)

Definitely a perfect Cedric. He's great at the part of the 'golden boy'. He looks just like one of those heroes who always get the girl and save the day. He did a great job, I'm so pleased they chose him to play Cedric, even if I iffy at first. And I'll even admit, he's quite handsome.

I thought he was completely perfect! I really liked the way his character was portrayed.

And he was more handsome in the movies than I imagined him. And by handsome, I mean really, really, really ridiculously good-looking. He makes me want to move to the UK.

His being cast as Cedric was a stroke of brilliance in my opinion. He played the part to perfection. It was great. I agree with DracoSeekMalfoy on the fact that the casting of Harry was nowhere near as good...no offense to the Daniel fans out there :) But Patterson really did what was needed for the character and pulled it off very well. The first time we see him, when he drops down from the tree or whatever, this random lady sitting next to me in the theatre said out loud: "well, isn't he dashing!" and it was all in the way he did it that made her say that. People sympathized with Cedric and felt sorry when he died. Too bad he had to die. :sad:

He did good, just that he didn't look like what I had expected Cedric to look like. I know everyone has a different image.. but mine was different than him.

i didnt like cedric in the books and was hoping robert pattinson could change my mind in the film but he didnt. he really was arrogent, which is not his fault but the direction. he did look right for the part (except for the hair) and his acting was alright but really, the way his character was written was very frustrating.

Cedric is the HOTTEST guy EVER !! It's not just that he's hot but he acts so nice which makes him about a thousand times hotter than if he was mean or something.

At first, he wasn't what I figured Cdric to look like, but once I saw Robert acting him out, I was hooked.

And he is a mighty fine actor. Both physically and mentally.

If there were a list citing the new characters in GoF that were presented even remotely similar to the way they are in the book, it would sadly be very, very short. However, Robert Pattinson is in it. I admit, as much as I detested GoF, watching Pattinson's portrayal of Cedric was a bright patch in my movie experience, mainly because he was so spot on as Cedric. He portrayed Cedric in a way that produced the same feelings in the audience as the book Cedric did in the reader: he got everyone to sympathize with him, to like him, and to eventually really feel for his death at the end of the movie. I admit, I choked up a bit. Cedric was such a nice guy, and Robert did an excellent job portraying him as such. Not to mention he was a major hottie. :p so all in all, yea, kudos to Pattinson.

I think he was more or less spot on what I had imagined whilst reading the book.

I think he was a good actor. I like especially the way he clearly enjoyed being so popular but at the same time was a tiny bit embarrased about the attention.
Especially when he was on the bench with his mates just before Harry told him of the dragons. He makes only a half hearted attempt to stop his mates taunting Harry and out of their ear reach he tells Harry that he has asked them to not wear the badges. (We can believe that or not) Cedric clearly has an urge to be liked by everybody and Robert portrayed that perfectly.

I like also the way his face changed very quickly when Harry told him about the dragons. "What...Are you sure?"

The death scene was good but anybody can play dead so that was not spectacular.

He was exactly how I pictured him and...you should have heard that theater when he jumped down from that tree. There was cat calls and whistling and screaming all over the place. :lol: He was really beautiful. *Dreamy sigh*

...Robert was perfect as Cedric Diggoryy!!! Even though he was slightly different from the way I pictured him, he did great. His looks helped a lot.

I loved Robert as Cedric! He's so cute!! I think he acted pretty well too, even though he didn't have a lot of scenes to act in. When I read about Cedric's death in the book, I was shocked, but not that upset. However, when I saw Cedric/Robert dying in the movie, I felt upset.

VERY good looking young man - did a fine job - I decided not to get too attached, since he dies in the movie.

His character was shortened, but the screen time he had was great. He made quite an entrance jumping out of the tree... Robert Pattinson, it seemed, made sure that his Cedric was an unhateable guy, which made his death sadder.

I dont know if I can really say he was a good actor becuase he had so few lines that I cant really make my judgement.

I agree! He's wicked hot so he was great for his role! He even looks like the "cool" guy, matching his role very well. I can't think think of a better replacement. I thought that his acting was fine and I'm not being bias because I'm not in love with him that much. :)

When I first saw him, I didn't think he suited the part of Cedric Diggory at all. I didn't think he was that good looking (actually, I still don't) and he certainly isn't the "pretty boy" I had imgined while reading GoF. But now, after seeing GoF a couple times, he's starting to grow on me. He's pretty good. :)

In the few moments we actually saw him, he was really good! I saw him in an interview and he seemed kind of snobbish to me. It could be just me.

I'd feel like a dirty old woman saying he's a hottie, but that's what he is- every it as good-looking as Cedric is supposed to be. He didn't have a whole lot to do, but nailed his part perfectly- especially when he was hanging out with his friends when Harry came to tell him about the dragon. And the little deviations from the book in the maze and the graveyard weren't bad at all.

Robert did an amazing job portraying Cedric Diggory. A lot of the scenes in GoF with Cedric were very theatric, and I think he did an amazing job with the character. It doesn't hurt that he's attractive. :drool: I cried when Cedric died in GoF, so it kind of makes me upset thatwe won't get to see him anymore.

I didnt really think Robert was right when I saw him I thought he'd be a pretty boys sort of Jessie McCartney esq however I think he got the part spot on I actually cried both in the book and the film (but that was more from the reaction of cedrics dad) Im kinda sad we wont be seeing any more of Mr.Pattison who is also super duper H-O-T!

Off topic for a second, but last night I met a guy that looked like Robert from his profile. Like honestly, if he had an english accent, I would have believed he might be his brother.:p

I've noticed the casting directors tend to do an excellent job with the junior supporting cast, especially when they're bringing in relative unknowns, and after seeing the film, I can honestly say they can count Rob Pattinson as another feather in their collective cap. Good job, overall, especially in the graveyard.

he's the reason I got addicted to Harry Potter Movies and Harry potter Books.. i read the series when i watched the movie.. i cant wait to watch the 7th movie if he will reappear again in the book

I think Robert it gorgeous. I will meet him one day, and we shall become best of friends! (even though he's 20) :D Anyway, I thought he played and amazing Cedric, and his good looks just added to the part. He's a good actor, and I can't picture anyone else as being Cedric. :)

They made Robert Pattinson look very similar to the book description, making him one of the few characters that they have done that with. However, he did not have the look that made me feel as if he got all the girls. He seemed very quiet and shy (just like he was described in the book as), but when he was in a room with girls there was hardly any difference to be seen. He was average, and that's being generous.

Well, I have to say that he didn't really appeal to me the first time I saw the movie *gasp!* But as I rewatched GoF a few times he grew on me. I think he portrayed Cedric very well. I mean, he wasn't as much as a womanizer as I thought he was going to be, but then again, the characters in the movies aren't going to be complete replicas of the characters in the books. I think he did a great job! Oh yeah... and he's kinda cute too :)

Robert Pattinson looked very similar to how I pictured Cedric in my head, and the little we saw of him on screen I thought he did very well as Cedric. Too bad we would be seeing him again in a Potter film...

I agree 200% for I think of him as barely decent looking (and I think nothing of him as an actor). Josh Hartnett would have suited better my image of Cedric from the books. The "beau ténébreux" (mysterious stud), as JKR describes him...

The worst part was this interview I read about him saying he was glad he could be an actor rather than a salesman in a shoe shop (can't remember were, it was over a year ago). Yuk! To me it sounded like this was his only way out, no diplomas or anything else, ouch!

well ,i don't personally care about the actors private lifes but of the representation they do about the characters i love andi would have to say i liked him fair enough,hes cute,he was nice a true hufflepuf for me.

I liked him in the part. I had never really come up with a good mental picture of Cedric from reading the book, so Pattinson fit the bill for me.

I was glad I didn't watch the interviews that come as additional footage with the DVD until I had watched the movie a few times, because he does come off as a bit full of himself in that. (Off topic, I know, but the kid who plays Viktor seemed very nice and humble.)

Well, I was unfortunate enough to have seen/heard interviews of him even before the movie and, yes, only his acting should count but it was not possible in that case. Actors are, after all, an image before they get a chance to be something else and this image is hard to dissociate from the character once they play it. I usually tend to avoid watching actors outside of movies but I am too hungry for HP stuff and I looked at most HP actors interviews .

I completely agree. Pattinson is an amazing actor, as we see throughout the film. However, he is portrayed through his lines and sometimes through his actions as egotistical instead of the loyal Hufflepuff we see in the books. One example of this would be when he's messing around with his friends who all have "Support Cedric Diggory" badges. He acts very differently to how he did in the book.

However, I must say that Pattinson/Director made me care about Cedric more in the film than the books ever did.

at first when he was cast, i saw that picture of him wearing a hoodie and i was like blech ..dans better..UNTIL I SAW HIM ACTT DANNNNGGG he made me drool the whole time, even more than daniel and tom felton. he looked PERFECT when he was at the ball, too. and i like how he has that on screen relationship with katie leung, like looking at her frequently, etc.

btw, robert lives in LA right now... i went to LA and i saw him at the premiere, and they were interviewing him, and he said he moved to LA cuz he got an agent there right after the HP film.

I think Rob is a good looking fellow, but in a somewhat unconventional way -- which keeps him from being merely insipid. But if you really look at his face ... he's got a crooked nose, his eyebrows are a bit heavy, his lips are thin, and he has an oddly shaped face. BUT they all come together to work. I think a face like his is easier to remember because he's striking rather than Apollonian beautiful.

But what struck me more about him was his natural charisma. He really does draw the eye, and tended to steal the scenes when he was matched with Dan -- and Dan himself is charismatic.

Acting ... he is and is not a good actor. I think he has excellent instincts and was better than many of the others his own age, including some of those who've been doing it longer (Emma*cough*Watson). But compared to some of the adults, then no. He's still got things to learn. Yet as I said, I think he has the combination of that natural charisma and those good instincts to become a truly fine actor when a few of the rough edges are shaved off. (For instance, he needs to learn to modify his 'broody' look. It gets old. He's actually got a very expressive face, which is something an actor needs, and an astonishingly lovely smile. He MAKES you smile with him. But the broody look ... it's monotonous. He'll learn to do better, I think, if he works on it.)

As for what he brought ... I actually LIKED the touch of arrogance. It was different than in the book. My issue with Cedric in the book is that I had a really hard time imagining WHY he put his name in the Goblet. I mean really. He didn't strike as the sort of kid looking for eternal glory, now did he? Quiet, serious, modest, kind.

But Pattinson brought the necessary ego to the character. But it was balanced. What I think he did best was present the internal battle Cedric must have fought between being blessed by the genetics fairy (I mean, think about it -- beautiful, clever, and athletic) and wanting to be a good person. I LIKE that Cedric wants to be a good person, fair ... but maybe isn't always. It's something we can relate to. :)

So in that respect, I found him really endearing. He IS a little arrogant -- and I could believe Pattinson's Cedric would put his name in the Gobelt -- but he seems to know that about himself and struggles to keep it in check.

Robert Pattison portrayed Cedric really really well. He really cleans up nicely doesn't he? :lol:, i say that since i saw some of his pictures, he looks really different in those. I'mrealy sad that he's going to play Edward in the Twilight movie, but here isn't the place to discuss it. But as Cedric, he was absolutely amazing.

I think Robert was too pretty for my liking. I imagined Cedric being a little more 'man-ish' ... tall, dark and handsome... having said that, his acting was fine.

I thought he did well as Cedric. Robert looked like the popular hot high school jock. His demeanor came off as a bit "snobbish" and maybe overly confident. But, of course Cedric was a great person. (I don't want to sound like I'm putting down Cedric, because I started to like him more throughout the book).

I don't think anyone's under the impression that Cedric's still an important figure in the films. This is just a place to discuss Robert Pattinson's performance in the role.

And it was a good performance, I think. I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's a thankless role (there are no thankless roles when you have a fandom like this scrutinizing your every move), but Cedric Diggory isn't one of those roles that allows an actor to really go wild or do something that lets them stretch. Pattinson did a good job, though; he made Cedric likable without turning him into a goody-two-shoes or anything. It's pretty solid work.

I think Robert Pattison did great job as Cedric. A lot of times, the actors/actresses that have smaller roles are kind of skimmed over and not really recognized, but they are the ones who do a really good job because they make the most of the small role they are given. I think Robert Pattison is one of those. He didn't have a majorly huge part, but he payed it the best that he could and I think he was wonderful. :clap:

Robert Pattinson really brought Cedric to life for me. For some reason, I wasn't all that affected when he was killed when I was reading the book, but seeing him get killed in the movie did make me sad. I think he played the part quite well.

In a series movies where casting was good, Robert Pattinson as Cedric Diggory was particularly well-cast. Handsome, friendly, with just a touch of unconscious arrogance about him, but basically a nice guy. Pattinson was just perfect in the role.

I agree with RavenDoll and Muggle_Magic about Rob Pattinson - I didn't really have a particular face in my head when I read Cedric on the page, so it was enough for the actor playing him to be handsome (which he is, in spades). But for a small part, he really stood out. You can totally see why the Gryffindor Chasers would have giggled over this boy, and why it would be heartbreaking when he died.
In fact, I'm really happy to see that the supporting actors who played the champions in GoF have mostly done really well since- Pattinson now has Twilight , and Clémence Poésy has a thriving film career in France (not to mention, the fashion world fully realises just how fabulous she is). It's nice to think that the series is helping to launch the careers of talented young actors like Rob and Clémence by bringing them into the public eye, and I hope it continues to do so.

I liked Pattinson as Cedric. He really fitted the bill for me; he made for an honest, genuine and hardworking Cedric, the kind of guy I would have been friends with in school. And to be honest, it was the writing and the dialogue and his delivery of it that made Cedric a strong character for me. I was happy to watch him because there was nothing forced about him at all.

Yea he was popular yes, but he was always second-best to Daniel Radcliffe or Rupert Grint. And you didn't see him in teen magazines or ppl interviewing him - right now, he's more 'hearthrobby' to teens than Zac Efron. I'm not saying NOBODY, literally NOBODY knew him, but rather using the word in a symbolic context.

I thought movie-Cedric was a little less sympathetic than book-Cedric. Movie-Cedric was more flawed, human, in my opinion. He laughed with his friends when they taunted Harry; he lost his head a bit in the maze & played a little dirty. Whereas book-Cedric was a paragon of virtue & stainless wholesomeness, of whom the world was not worthy, etc. He was so good you could tell from his first appearance that he was the sacrificial lamb.

Robt. Pattinson's new role as Edward Cullen is a good next step for him. He gets to play the romantic lead rather than the doomed romantic rival. He gets to ooze tortured self-loathing, anger, and temptation. That first biology lesson where he reacts to Bella's smell is one non-speaking scene that, all by itself, requires more acting than Pattinson's entire role in Goblet of Fire.

What Robert Pattinson managed to do in GoF with the very little material he had to work with is commendable. He managed to convey an image of a more human Cedric, charming, unconsciously arrogant, not above laughing at Harry with his mates, but basically decent. It was quite a feat, because there was less shown of him than even in the book, and the scenes where he does appear in PoA, showing his fair-mindedness and spirit of fair-play, were left out of the movie. He had almost nothing to work with, but he managed to come through with a character that was more than the two-dimensional foil for our hero Harry.

I haven't seen Twilight yet, so I can't judge his acting skills in there.

I think he is completely riding the wave of GOF and lucked out of find Twilight (another moster hit) which may actually give him a decent career with those on his resume but only time will tell. I think he did a decent job as Cedric, he really had an earnesty that I appriciated and I think his acting skills are ultimately sound but I still find the whole "seedy opium" vibe that I get from his interviews hard to swallow.

I liked him in GOF a lot. He seems charasmatic in Twilight clips, though I have not seen the movie. I hope he can continue choosing good roles to make a career off of because it can be hard when your perceived mainly as a hearthrobe.

Same with Fleur to think of it.

I really liked Robert Pattinson as Cedric. I think he did a good job. He's a total hottie, that's for sure! haha

yeah, i thought he did great in GOF but not in TWILIGHT!

I thought he fantastic in both Twilight and GOF. He's one reason I went to see the Twilight.

You read my mind. What he was given didn't do his talent justice. I do think the Twilight saga may just help that. I'm surprised that he found a gig outside of the HP thing because not many of the other secondary actors have done much outside the series.

I really liked Robert Pattinson as Cedric Diggory. It's true he had only a few lines to deliver, but it was well done, he made his character pleasant. I don't understand people (or girls :D) who said he wasn't good-looking enough for the part, to me he has a great charm, something special that fits to the character.
Cedric was a very nice character, his death was so sad :sad:.
