[i am gonna see Gof this sunday with my friends I am just waiting :p ]
Robert as Cedric is so cute............
just want your views
I"LL post mine after i see the movie :tu:
bye
bagel November 25th, 2005, 12:57 pm I think he was really good. Likeable enough to make the end more tragic. As though we'd known him for years.
And his 'it's not a bad place for a bath' line was hilarious.
Esantiago November 25th, 2005, 1:46 pm I thought he was a very good actor, and I think he did a good job sticking to the character in the book. Cedric was my favorite character in GoF and in the book. I was sad when he died :upset:
Aurelen November 25th, 2005, 1:51 pm I thought he did an excellent job...very cute, and though he didn't have too many lines, he souned like a very good actor!
Trun0_Jay November 25th, 2005, 2:00 pm I think he was really good. Likeable enough to make the end more tragic. As though we'd known him for years.
And his 'it's not a bad place for a bath' line was hilarious.
I agree with everything you just said!
marebear02 November 25th, 2005, 2:35 pm Robert did an awesome job of playing Cedric. I really liked him in this role.
AlassinZane November 25th, 2005, 3:48 pm I liked his performance and all, he was a fairly good actor but every time I looked at him I thought: What on Earth is a Calvin Klein model doing in the middle of Scotland???? I'm sorry but his face was sort of square and modelesque and I couldn't help but see him as a model.
I know it's just me and I wish I could overpower that, but I can't. The joke's on me, I guess.
snowlayd November 25th, 2005, 4:05 pm He''s good-looking :D liked the way he played Cedric. And yeah, my favourite was the 'take a bath' scene XD that was so gay, I loved it
Jenn1182 November 25th, 2005, 4:07 pm I thought he was a perfect Cedric. He personified what Cedric was. A handome guy who seemed to have everything going for him. Great casting. Him and Katie looked great together as well.
pottercomics November 25th, 2005, 4:10 pm A couple months back, I was disappointed because he didn't fit my image of Cedric. But, eventually, my image of Cedric conformed to him and I think he was perfect for the part.
OrlisGrape November 25th, 2005, 4:13 pm I loved Cedric! Although I missed the bath line because I had drank about a litre of pop from suspense and I had to go to the bathroom so bad! And that was the part when I left. I'm sad I missed it!! But I love Cedric so much and he is soooooooo handsome!! And when he dies, it was really sad, and I will admit it, I cried my eyes out. I don't know what it is, I just get so connected with the Characters in the books, how can you not cry? He did a really great job, he was perfect.
pottercomics November 25th, 2005, 4:16 pm Hahahaha, yeah.
Cedric: You know the Prefect's bathroom on the fifth floor?
Harry: Yeah?
Cedric: Well, it's not a bad place for a bath. Just take your egg and mull things over in the hot water.
That was one of the funnier parts of the movie.
Lupin4Ever November 25th, 2005, 4:20 pm The movie was awsome! The best yet. The guy that played Cedric did a great job :tu:
WeasleyAtHeart November 25th, 2005, 5:07 pm He did great. I wish he had had a few more lines, but the ones he did have, he did very well. He was just the humble boy that I'd pictured. While everyone was completely against Harry it seemed that Cedric, in the book and movie, if he did or didn't believe Harry about putting his name in the goblet, he was still very fair to him.
The only line I didn't like of his is when they just got to the graveyard and he stood up and said "Where are we?"..I leaned over and whispered to my friend "A GRAVEYARD you idiot!" Haha.
SzeYuen November 25th, 2005, 5:17 pm He did great!And he was hot.=P
quidditch44 November 25th, 2005, 5:28 pm I thought he did a wonderful job, even though we didn't get to see much of him. I really liked how Harry and Cedric kept their cordially towards each other throughout the film. I was worried that they were going to mess that up somehow, but I was very pleased about how they interacted with eachother. The scenes where they confided in eachother what the next tasks were going to be were pretty near perfect, even if they sounded a little awkward. I was also very pleased with how everything turned out in the third task and the graveyard. It would have ruined everything if the actors failed to capture the scene like it was in the book, but they did beautifully and the entire thing was just brilliant.
TnK November 25th, 2005, 5:35 pm I don't know why everyone is saying that the "take a bath" line was so funny. I mean, it wasn't. Anyhoo, he had like 6 lines the entire movie, so he did ok for what he had to do.
Ania21 November 25th, 2005, 5:39 pm Good looking, perfect manners, sooo cute, Robert did a great job. I loved his relationship with Harry, his dad and other Hufflepuffs.
Hermywormy November 25th, 2005, 5:43 pm I preferred him in the book, because I didn't think Robert was THAT handsome. Honestly, I didn't think any of the characters were that attractive. Strangely, the prettiest character in the movie is probably Hermione.
But as for actual acting abillity, I do think he did pretty good.
marianna58 November 25th, 2005, 5:43 pm He honestly did look attractive in every shot....they filmed the angles perfectly to make him out to be this astonishingly handsome 17-year-old. Well done, filmmakers.
Also, he did fine on his lines, I liked when Harry told him it was dragons for the first task and he just goes..."Seriously?" Such a natural response! :p
I agree...."Where are we?" was said in the wrong tone. That line is in the book, but Pattinson said it to be like..."Oh look, where have we ended up? Looks like a lovely place, what could it be?" rather than...."Uh-oh...where are we?"
Olliwood November 25th, 2005, 8:02 pm It's too sad that there will be no more Cedric in the other movies. Such a handsome guy...
i_luv_fred20 November 25th, 2005, 8:04 pm he is a great actor
VampireGirl November 25th, 2005, 8:07 pm I can say one word about Robert Pattinson that any girl (or boy, if you swing that way) with good taste will agree with. That word is: drool
Te_Amorangi_15 November 25th, 2005, 10:54 pm I think he was really good. Likeable enough to make the end more tragic. As though we'd known him for years.
And his 'it's not a bad place for a bath' line was hilarious.
Sorry, but what's the bath line? :D
silverstarz November 26th, 2005, 1:56 am Whoa! He looked so hot in this movie! He acted very well in this movie and had that "thing" about him that seems like you know him and seen him act when you haven't or maybe it's just me.......Well anywho I thought he did really good and the scene where he says "Take a bath" had me cracking up so bad...just the way he looked and how he said it....here comes the giggles again!
cedesalexis November 26th, 2005, 2:18 am I think Cedric did a great job, he did make it easy to like him and then really feel for him and his family when he died.
KylePerkins November 26th, 2005, 4:23 am I think Robert Pattinson did an excellent job as Cedric. He fit the role perfectly, and played it just as well. However, I wouldn't want to be Pattinson, as he's not going to be in any more movies (unless something happens in Book 7, and eventually Movie 7, that brings back a Cedric reference or ghost or something).
-Kyle
crashcoogan November 26th, 2005, 4:29 am Well, he's extremely attractive. But more importantly, he was a pretty good actor in this film. It's sad he won't be in any other HP films. Although I'll surely see anything even semi-tasteful that he stars in over the future.
I totally cried when he died. :(
XTheDarkQueenX November 26th, 2005, 4:50 am I thought he did a pretty good job.
He's gorgeous! I <3 him.
Yes, I cried when he died, it was sad :(
danluver November 26th, 2005, 4:59 am Yes, extremely good looking he is! I think he did a pretty good job. Pity he dies in the movie. Anyway, I thought when he tells Harry about the Prefect Bath, was perfect! Just mull things over in the hot water....I thought the death in the movie was even more emotional and dramatic. He could've used a couple more lines, but I still thought the part was well played.
GryffondorGrl November 26th, 2005, 5:18 am I think he did really good, but the same thing with Cho, I only wish he would've been in the movie more...though he had the most time of all the champions besides Harry, I guess. He was very good looking also, I think they chose a good actor. He looked how I thought Cedric would've.
hpgirl21053 November 26th, 2005, 5:19 am he was difinatly hot as cedric, and acted right for the part, i applaud him.
Dead Star November 26th, 2005, 6:50 am I thought he was excellent, he really portrayed Cedric as this nice, likeable guy and thus his death was so much more tragic.
Airamis November 26th, 2005, 7:18 am i thought he did a good job of playing cedric and did a very excelent job till the very end
lily83 November 26th, 2005, 8:24 pm I think that Robert did a great job portraying Cedric. The part where he told Harry to take a bath with the egg made me laugh so hard..it was one of those moments that i dont think was supposed to be funny but it was hilarious..the look on cedric's face when he made the suggestion was priceless. The maze scene between harry and cedric was incredible. Robert and Dan did a great job portraying the angst and confusion of not knowing where to go or what to do..
bagel November 26th, 2005, 8:40 pm Sorry, but what's the bath line? :D
When he's telling Harry to go to the Prefects' bathroom to open the egg. His expression was so funny I was laughing so hard my sister kicked me to stop. :p
WellIfYouMust November 26th, 2005, 8:43 pm Yeah, good casting of Cedric. My girlfriend remarked to me that she thought he looked exactly like the Cedric on the GOF book jacket (which is funny since that's kind of a cartoony caricature). I don't think Cedric is the most well-developed character in the series, but Pattinson did a good job with him.
ali_singer November 26th, 2005, 8:49 pm I think he did a great job as Cedric. There was just one scene that didn't seem right to me which was when Harry and Cedric are running towards the Triwizard Cup. I didn't picture him yelling at Harry to take the cup, I pictured more of a defeatist look and him just kind of giving up.
Bellatrix13yia November 26th, 2005, 8:56 pm robert did a great job playing cedric. dan and robert were very good in the maze. the only part that robert didnt do so good on was in the grave yard. but other than that i think he was perfect!
sion November 26th, 2005, 9:12 pm I think Pattinson portrayed Cedric as a stereotypical handsome and sporty public school boy down to perfection. This aint a bad thing, This is how I always believed Cedric should have portrayed as.
danluver November 26th, 2005, 11:36 pm You have a point about the graveyard. He's like... '*totally unconcerned* Where are we? ' with his hands on his hips. XP
Well, he didn't exactly know that he was in great danger. He's just a confident individual and wasn't frightened by the atmosphere because he didn't know it was dangerous. He thougth it might be another part of the task.
Harry on the other hand, saw Tom Riddle's grave, and new that something bad was going to happen. I think Cedric's nonchalance made his movie death all the more terrifying.
muggledeedee November 27th, 2005, 12:24 am He played the part well enough - I just didn't think he was the "handsome" boy I was expecting. He is good looking in an unconventional way - I was just expecting something else.
Murtlap November 27th, 2005, 12:46 am I thought he was a very good actor. I did think his 'where are we?' sounded a bit odd, but I think it would be a natural response for someone like Cedric, who would probably have assumed this was another part of the final task.
sweetjazz16 November 27th, 2005, 12:47 am I think he is sooo00000000000000000000oooooooooo000000000000oooo oooooo0000000000ooooooooooo(lol sorry) cute and he did a good jobat being Cedric- sort of the popular cute guy that has a good life etc. but i wish he was in the third movie or something because it would have made him more reconizable and more sad when he died (not saying it wasnt sad as is)
JimmyPotter November 27th, 2005, 1:54 am In the book Cedric told Harry to take the bath at the end of the Yule Ball. Harry waited a while to do it because of his stubborn pride. In the movie Cedric tells Harry a couple days before the second task. I thought it would have been better to follow the book here but also have Hermione scold Harry for being so stubborn.
At the beginning Hermione and Ginny trade a giggle when they first see Cedric. I guess they share the view of most of the female viewing audience.
Even if Robert Pattinson won't be doing any more Harry Potter movies, you can be confident that he will get other work.
Fleur_DeCa November 28th, 2005, 7:01 pm Personally, I think that Robert did a great job with his role as Cedric. He looked the part and acted it as well. I wish he would have had more lines just because I always liked the Cedric character. But I understood that the movie primarly focused on the trio and their friendships. Anywho, two thumbs up for robert pattinson!!!! :-) and he wasn't too hard on the eyes either ;-)
DracoSeekMalfoy November 28th, 2005, 7:43 pm I think the casting of Cedric was perfect, the best yet in all the films (out of the students) he had that 'I go to public school, all the girls bum me, I live in a big house and im slighty posh, im capt of rugby team etc' vibe, however the casting of harry potter as daniel radcliffe leaves a lot to be desired.
battered_one November 28th, 2005, 10:43 pm He looked like Cedric, acted like Cedric, and did a good job relating to us all.
littlemae November 28th, 2005, 11:33 pm Definitely a perfect Cedric. He's great at the part of the 'golden boy'. He looks just like one of those heroes who always get the girl and save the day. He did a great job, I'm so pleased they chose him to play Cedric, even if I iffy at first. And I'll even admit, he's quite handsome.
Hustler November 28th, 2005, 11:48 pm I think the casting of Cedric was perfect, the best yet in all the films (out of the students) he had that 'I go to public school, all the girls bum me, I live in a big house and im slighty posh, im capt of rugby team etc' vibe, however the casting of harry potter as daniel radcliffe leaves a lot to be desired.
You should visit the 'Dan Radcliffe as Harry Potter' thread. You'd have some fun there
Bee November 29th, 2005, 12:14 am I thought he was completely perfect! I really liked the way his character was portrayed.
And he was more handsome in the movies than I imagined him. And by handsome, I mean really, really, really ridiculously good-looking. He makes me want to move to the UK.
Cadia November 29th, 2005, 1:05 am My reaction to Robert Pattison as Cedric: *swoon*...( )
He is just soooooooooooo cute, and handsome, and dashing, and captivating, and.. *sigh*
His being cast as Cedric was a stroke of brilliance in my opinion. He played the part to perfection. It was great. I agree with DracoSeekMalfoy on the fact that the casting of Harry was nowhere near as good...no offense to the Daniel fans out there :) But Patterson really did what was needed for the character and pulled it off very well. The first time we see him, when he drops down from the tree or whatever, this random lady sitting next to me in the theatre said out loud: "well, isn't he dashing!" and it was all in the way he did it that made her say that. People sympathized with Cedric and felt sorry when he died. Too bad he had to die.
Pigleto972001 November 29th, 2005, 6:46 am i agree that he was a fine cedric, and also easy on the eyes.
i particularly liked when he was pointing his wand at wormtail/voldie and asking them what they wanted. it showed that he was brave and confident as previously mentioned. i've only seen the movie once and hope to see it again soon, but what exactly was it that made him point his wand at wormtail? was it because wormtail was coming at them aggressively or was he reacting to harry's telling him to run for the portkey? i seem to remember voldie told wormtail to kill the spare after cedric pulled his wand on them...or was it before? confused.
m0nkeydump November 29th, 2005, 6:47 am He did good, just that he didn't look like what I had expected Cedric to look like. I know everyone has a different image.. but mine was different than him.
rotsiepots November 29th, 2005, 7:10 am He was OK ... but there wasn't really that much to go by.
Dead Star November 29th, 2005, 7:26 pm i agree that he was a fine cedric, and also easy on the eyes.

Well I'd be saying the same thing if I found myself in a strange place, a graveyard of all places, and some unfortunate looking man came out carrying a little monster. It was like, a second before Voldemort said "Kill the spare."
Pigleto972001 November 29th, 2005, 11:35 pm true, that. also i suppose since harry kept telling him to run and get the portkey in alarmed tones that it would probably have added to the tension in the scene.
PaRTyGiRL089 November 30th, 2005, 8:18 am He's cute.. Tall.. Handsome! He fits perfectly in being Cedric.
tristaleigh November 30th, 2005, 8:30 am He looks and acts just like I imagined Cedric.
lilyrose December 1st, 2005, 1:47 pm I saw the movie..he is superb for the part......totally cool!
and when Mr.Weasley introduced Amos Diggory and Cedric sort of jumps down.,the theatre was roaring............cool :),and Ginny and Hermione look at each other as he says hi.it was like,"isn"T he cute?"
his smile is so gorgeous
I like the part when Voldemort sort of stamps Cedric"s body and says "pity..handsome boy!'....I totally agree with him, though I was sort of sad.........
Elena_Berezhnaya December 1st, 2005, 7:30 pm He was so handsome and almost exactly like I imagined him, he is an excellent actor and I cried hard when he died. Why do the good die young?
xXxcarlosxXx December 1st, 2005, 8:58 pm At first i didnt like robert pattinson playing the part of cedric diggory... but he proved me wrong when i saw the movie... he did an awesome job... im just sad because he died...:((
SlytherinChick December 1st, 2005, 9:04 pm I love Cedric sooooo much he is so awsome I think I like him better as Cedric than in RL but he is still cool but he is to old for me -cries- Im not sure if I like Tom Felton better tho...
Hysteria December 3rd, 2005, 10:26 am i didnt like cedric in the books and was hoping robert pattinson could change my mind in the film but he didnt. he really was arrogent, which is not his fault but the direction. he did look right for the part (except for the hair) and his acting was alright but really, the way his character was written was very frustrating.
hothouseelf December 14th, 2005, 12:16 pm Cedric is the HOTTEST guy EVER !! It's not just that he's hot but he acts so nice which makes him about a thousand times hotter than if he was mean or something.
Soooooo hot,
its just a pity that he's dead. hopefully he comes back or something in the last book so he can be on another HP movie (like everyone else that died)

hp007 December 14th, 2005, 11:04 pm I think he was quite good as Cedric. He had the whole "pretty boy" thing down. Besides, he's cute! ;)
DevilishAngel December 14th, 2005, 11:45 pm At first, he wasn't what I figured Cdric to look like, but once I saw Robert acting him out, I was hooked.
And he is a mighty fine actor. Both physically and mentally.
I did love his facial expressions. Especially when he's speaking and telling Harry that the best place to take a bath is the prefect's lavetory. His eyebrow wiggles....suggestive, I tell.
And his death scene had me in tears. I have seen the movie 4 times, and every time, I crack up, I can't hold it in. I become a wussy little cry baby.
I did find it odd that he wasn't a bit more worried in questioning where they had ended up. To me, it seemed like he was a bit too fascinated. "Oh, look, a graveyard! I feel Death a comin'! Somethin' Bad nears!".
All the suggestive plotlines, all the hidden innuendos...Robert is such a great boy. ;)
Katzchen December 15th, 2005, 12:02 am I :love:loved:love: him! He's how I thought of Cedric. He's a great actor and very good looking.
I did find it odd that he wasn't a bit more worried in questioning where they had ended up. To me, it seemed like he was a bit too fascinated. "Oh, look, a graveyard! I feel Death a comin'! Somethin' Bad nears!".
I thought that too. xD And I love that "I feel death a comin'" thing. <3
eVaNeScEnCe December 20th, 2005, 4:06 am If there were a list citing the new characters in GoF that were presented even remotely similar to the way they are in the book, it would sadly be very, very short. However, Robert Pattinson is in it. I admit, as much as I detested GoF, watching Pattinson's portrayal of Cedric was a bright patch in my movie experience, mainly because he was so spot on as Cedric. He portrayed Cedric in a way that produced the same feelings in the audience as the book Cedric did in the reader: he got everyone to sympathize with him, to like him, and to eventually really feel for his death at the end of the movie. I admit, I choked up a bit. Cedric was such a nice guy, and Robert did an excellent job portraying him as such. Not to mention he was a major hottie. :p so all in all, yea, kudos to Pattinson.
noelle December 20th, 2005, 4:17 am The movie was great, no matter what my friend said. :grumble: Robert was really good as Cedric, though I wish he had some more lines.
hermiones_twi December 20th, 2005, 4:19 am i really liked robert as cedric! i thought he did a fantastic job of pulling the character off. he was really hott and nice. exactly how i pictured cedric-RIP
morbid_fetish December 20th, 2005, 5:38 am pretty hot
crookshanks16 December 20th, 2005, 8:30 pm I thought he was really good. He acted just like the Cedric I imagined. Besides, he was SO hot.
gualsa December 20th, 2005, 8:50 pm I think he was more or less spot on what I had imagined whilst reading the book.
I think he was a good actor. I like especially the way he clearly enjoyed being so popular but at the same time was a tiny bit embarrased about the attention.
Especially when he was on the bench with his mates just before Harry told him of the dragons. He makes only a half hearted attempt to stop his mates taunting Harry and out of their ear reach he tells Harry that he has asked them to not wear the badges. (We can believe that or not) Cedric clearly has an urge to be liked by everybody and Robert portrayed that perfectly.
I like also the way his face changed very quickly when Harry told him about the dragons. "What...Are you sure?"
The death scene was good but anybody can play dead so that was not spectacular.
random_musing December 20th, 2005, 8:56 pm He was exactly how I pictured him and...you should have heard that theater when he jumped down from that tree. There was cat calls and whistling and screaming all over the place. He was really beautiful. *Dreamy sigh*
I'm sorry you despised GoF so much eV. A lot of people like it better the second time. Maybe it'll be the same for you. :)
oceanborn December 20th, 2005, 9:00 pm i think he did good job.and he really does look good.o yeah.
KinkyBroomstick December 20th, 2005, 9:03 pm I think he did really well, it was a good casting decision. He drew alot of sympathy from the audience.
cookie654 December 20th, 2005, 9:05 pm I thought he was wonderful he acted just like the one in the book. And he is so cute.;)
snowlayd December 20th, 2005, 9:08 pm The look on his face when Rita pulled his 'curles' XD Just the way he opened his eyes, looked brilliant Bwhahahah
And the serious look he had when putting his name in the goblet of fire.
sophie81 December 20th, 2005, 9:28 pm After watching an interview with him at the premier in London, I considered him very cocky and a little arrogant, it turns out he acts out his own personality and was perfect for the role:)
Mouseykins December 21st, 2005, 12:36 am I think he was great! Though he only got a few scenes, I believe he played the part well. And don't even get me STARTED with his looks. *fangirls*
nancini December 21st, 2005, 1:01 am ha, if he ever reads this, he'd probably be, like, "yes, i know i'm hot, but how am i as an actor?!" i think he did a good job with the material he had. when i was watching, i kind of...forgot he wasn't cedric, you know? so i think he did a good job. and, of course, he's outrageously good-looking.
Hermi711 December 21st, 2005, 1:12 am He honestly did look attractive in every shot....they filmed the angles perfectly to make him out to be this astonishingly handsome 17-year-old. Well done, filmmakers.
Also, he did fine on his lines, I liked when Harry told him it was dragons for the first task and he just goes..."Seriously?" Such a natural response! :p
i agree
Cedric is sooo cute
the only thing wrong is i thought he didn't play a very much modest cedric in the maze
**spoiler warning for those who havn't seen GoF**
cedric and harry were fighting to get to the cup. hufflepuffs' are suppose to be modest! remember in the book? that was the cedric i was looking for.
robert had all the looks for cedric though... *giggles*
Capt_Obvious December 21st, 2005, 3:48 am I was surprised at how good of an actor he was. Whoever does the casting for HP sure does a good job at picking supporting actors.
ekat242 December 21st, 2005, 5:06 am I thought he was a really great actor for the part. He seemed to fit perfectally with the description of Cedric in the book. Robert is also really cute.
Idril87 December 21st, 2005, 3:22 pm What a wonderful boy  !!! I really liked him! I cried when Cedric died!
Minish December 22nd, 2005, 7:51 pm He did an okay job.
hothouseelf December 23rd, 2005, 2:29 pm hottest guy in the history of the world
potter_luvver December 23rd, 2005, 2:45 pm I, personally, didn't find him that attractive but I totally cried at the end. Though...not because he was dead, but at his Dad's reaction :upset:  that was totally heartbreaking, the way he was wailing...anyone agree?
hothouseelf December 23rd, 2005, 2:47 pm I, personally, didn't find him that attractive but I totally cried at the end. Though...not because he was dead, but at his Dad's reaction :upset:  that was totally heartbreaking, the way he was wailing...anyone agree?
Yeah that was REALLY sad. but i mean cedric not hot??!! especially compared to Adrian Brody ! hes old as!
potter_luvver December 23rd, 2005, 2:56 pm 32? That's not "old as".
And I want a man, not a boy :p
hothouseelf December 23rd, 2005, 3:04 pm 32? That's not "old as".
And I want a man, not a boy :p
haha 32s old!
Anyways everyone to their own

natush December 23rd, 2005, 3:14 pm he is a very good actor..but i dont think that he so beautiful =/
MioneBookworm December 23rd, 2005, 5:25 pm I know some might think I'm just saying this because I'm a girl, but...
...Robert was perfect as Cedric Diggoryy!!! Even though he was slightly different from the way I pictured him, he did great. His looks helped a lot.
His also very cute, naturally.
Brooklyn December 24th, 2005, 2:45 am two words!!! HOT STUFF! I was like panting very time he was on screen. Im his freakin biggest fan now.....and hes a great actor I cant wait to see him prtray other charactors!
Brooklyn December 24th, 2005, 2:48 am  :haha 32s old!
Anyways everyone to their own
You can have him, I'll have Cedric anyday thanks!!!! :p

Heres to that!!
scd December 24th, 2005, 5:52 am Robert Pattinson is so CUTE and GEORGEOUS    !!! I hated it when the third task started because I knew what was going to happen. They guy who played Cedrics dad broke my heart though, after Harry got back with the cup.
Monikita December 30th, 2005, 4:55 am I think Robert did a great job! He looked very handsome also! OMG!
cho_chang_china December 30th, 2005, 8:52 am he's cool and brave. but i really don't appreciate his red face......however he's fantastic
trickcy December 30th, 2005, 10:14 am I loved Robert as Cedric! He's so cute!! I think he acted pretty well too, even though he didn't have a lot of scenes to act in. When I read about Cedric's death in the book, I was shocked, but not that upset. However, when I saw Cedric/Robert dying in the movie, I felt upset.
fawnmarie December 30th, 2005, 7:43 pm VERY good looking young man - did a fine job - I decided not to get too attached, since he dies in the movie.
AvadaKediggles December 30th, 2005, 8:04 pm His character was shortened, but the screen time he had was great. He made quite an entrance jumping out of the tree... Robert Pattinson, it seemed, made sure that his Cedric was an unhateable guy, which made his death sadder.
arachibutyro3 December 30th, 2005, 8:22 pm I dont know if I can really say he was a good actor becuase he had so few lines that I cant really make my judgement.
perfectcharm January 1st, 2006, 1:47 pm he is really a good looking man.i also like his acting in the movie but i was so sad when he died
darling_azn January 1st, 2006, 1:58 pm He's a hawtiee!!! HaHa... Cna't really say if he's a great actor though. He only had a few scenes and I can't reall judge him on that...
He's a hawtiee though... HaHa... Did I already say that? O_o
SwtVietRose January 1st, 2006, 11:35 pm I agree! He's wicked hot so he was great for his role! He even looks like the "cool" guy, matching his role very well. I can't think think of a better replacement. I thought that his acting was fine and I'm not being bias because I'm not in love with him that much. :)
Raven_Girly January 2nd, 2006, 8:55 am When I first saw him, I didn't think he suited the part of Cedric Diggory at all. I didn't think he was that good looking (actually, I still don't) and he certainly isn't the "pretty boy" I had imgined while reading GoF. But now, after seeing GoF a couple times, he's starting to grow on me. He's pretty good. :)
Ines January 9th, 2006, 11:27 pm I really liked him. I think his acting was great, and he's also very good-looking...very, very good-looking
tonka January 9th, 2006, 11:33 pm He is GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!! I can't find the right words. He is cute, and all that, and he is a good actor...
LuvHP_001 January 10th, 2006, 2:25 am In the few moments we actually saw him, he was really good! I saw him in an interview and he seemed kind of snobbish to me. It could be just me.
Drusilla April 1st, 2006, 3:24 pm I'd feel like a dirty old woman saying he's a hottie, but that's what he is- every it as good-looking as Cedric is supposed to be. He didn't have a whole lot to do, but nailed his part perfectly- especially when he was hanging out with his friends when Harry came to tell him about the dragon. And the little deviations from the book in the maze and the graveyard weren't bad at all.
DragonBlk17 April 1st, 2006, 4:17 pm Robert did an amazing job portraying Cedric Diggory. A lot of the scenes in GoF with Cedric were very theatric, and I think he did an amazing job with the character. It doesn't hurt that he's attractive. I cried when Cedric died in GoF, so it kind of makes me upset thatwe won't get to see him anymore.
xnataliex April 26th, 2006, 6:07 pm I didnt really think Robert was right when I saw him I thought he'd be a pretty boys sort of Jessie McCartney esq however I think he got the part spot on I actually cried both in the book and the film (but that was more from the reaction of cedrics dad) Im kinda sad we wont be seeing any more of Mr.Pattison who is also super duper H-O-T!
padfootrules April 27th, 2006, 5:04 pm He is incredibly hot!!!!!!!!! He is super cute and awesome. As far as his acting goes well it wasb't so bad. He had to be cute cedric which he pulled of quite nicely i think
pygmY_PufFer April 27th, 2006, 5:11 pm The first time I saw his picture, I was sort of like, "Ew...". Don't get me wrong, he just didn't look like the Cedric I pictured in my mind. I thought the book said he had dark hair and grey eyes?
I thought he was pretty good in GoF. I just wished they had played up the three champions' roles more, though. But the scenes where Robert acted in were really good. When he said, "You serious?" to Harry after being told about the dragons in the first task, I thought it was spot on, pretty much like how I would imagine cedric to say it. Everything else was good too, except for a few irks that I have with the script, not him.
He was really funny and silly in the 'Meet the Champions' section of the dvd. He always had this sort of expression on his face, like he is going to laugh or something(not sure how to describe).
IMissPadfoot April 27th, 2006, 5:14 pm Well...he didn't have a great deal of lines, but I thought what he did was pretty good! Plus he is a VERY good-looking guy - kind of what I expected Cedric to look like! It's a real shame we won't see more of him!
sirius_gerl April 28th, 2006, 3:58 am Like most other girls in here, I love Robert Pattinson. I think he's hot, and he's in my top 10 hottest actors...maybe in the 5, but I'm too lazy to try to think right now. I thought he did an amazing job at portraying Cedric. Not to mention he certainly had the looks. Robert is a good actor, and I think he may be able to go quite far. It's too bad, though, he's only in one of the HP movies.
Off topic for a second, but last night I met a guy that looked like Robert from his profile. Like honestly, if he had an english accent, I would have believed he might be his brother.:p
Drusilla May 26th, 2006, 5:36 pm I've noticed the casting directors tend to do an excellent job with the junior supporting cast, especially when they're bringing in relative unknowns, and after seeing the film, I can honestly say they can count Rob Pattinson as another feather in their collective cap. Good job, overall, especially in the graveyard.
castel May 26th, 2006, 5:45 pm Good actor.
Good looking.
Good Cedric.
Perfect.
nix May 27th, 2006, 4:29 am he's the reason I got addicted to Harry Potter Movies and Harry potter Books.. i read the series when i watched the movie.. i cant wait to watch the 7th movie if he will reappear again in the book
psyche07 May 27th, 2006, 11:38 am at first i was a bit disappointed i was expecting a REALLY handsome Cedric..but Robert was okay..his acting was pretty good.. and i HAVE to agree with the others..that "take a bath" line was really funny and a bit gay-ish.. :)(plus he was almost cheek to cheek with harry) :) but all in all,he was great..
i was wondering though how he felt when Voldy shifted his face with Voldy's dirty feet..(bad Voldy!)
harryp31 May 27th, 2006, 5:19 pm at first I was a bit disappointed I was expecting a REALLY handsome Cedric..but Robert was okay... How very dare you! He's extremely handsome!
castel May 27th, 2006, 6:18 pm How very dare you! He's extremely handsome!
You know, the physical beauty is a very subjective thing.
sirius_gerl June 18th, 2006, 6:05 pm I think Robert it gorgeous. I will meet him one day, and we shall become best of friends! (even though he's 20) :D Anyway, I thought he played and amazing Cedric, and his good looks just added to the part. He's a good actor, and I can't picture anyone else as being Cedric. :)
MrSleepyHead June 18th, 2006, 10:25 pm They made Robert Pattinson look very similar to the book description, making him one of the few characters that they have done that with. However, he did not have the look that made me feel as if he got all the girls. He seemed very quiet and shy (just like he was described in the book as), but when he was in a room with girls there was hardly any difference to be seen. He was average, and that's being generous.
TheChaser June 25th, 2006, 4:46 am ^^ Haha like the signature :)
Well, I have to say that he didn't really appeal to me the first time I saw the movie *gasp!* But as I rewatched GoF a few times he grew on me. I think he portrayed Cedric very well. I mean, he wasn't as much as a womanizer as I thought he was going to be, but then again, the characters in the movies aren't going to be complete replicas of the characters in the books. I think he did a great job! Oh yeah... and he's kinda cute too :)
Neptune June 25th, 2006, 5:18 am Robert Pattinson looked very similar to how I pictured Cedric in my head, and the little we saw of him on screen I thought he did very well as Cedric. Too bad we would be seeing him again in a Potter film...
Fiddlesticks June 25th, 2006, 9:00 pm I think Robert did a great job! I saw it with a few friends and we were all crying when he died. He made Cedric a lot more likeable and stuff. I give him a thumbs up! :tu:
elfmadewine June 25th, 2006, 9:05 pm I thought that he was pretty good...I don't know, not exactly the prettiest boy out there but his acting made it fine.
Fiddlesticks June 25th, 2006, 9:14 pm How very dare you! He's extremely handsome!
Psh you bet he is!
MyrinaDiggory July 15th, 2006, 1:21 am *swoons* He is so cute!! But I imagined him with a bit more muscle.
greenphoenix5 July 15th, 2006, 2:09 am I really don't know where to begin. robert pattinson is a great actor and is incredibly handsome or should i just say HOT! he was one of my favorite characters in the film and robert pattinson played him perfectly and just how i imagined him to be. smart, loyal, brave, honest, kind, handsome and a huffie...perfect!
Oliverlvr20 July 17th, 2006, 1:56 pm I totally loved him playing Cederic, He is jsut so hot, everytime I watch the end where he dies I cry every single time because I got hooked on to him.
NekiaShawdee July 19th, 2006, 1:34 pm I really like Robert playing Cedric!! Does anyone know any good Cedric FF's??? Could you owl me the links please???
Lady_Morgan July 19th, 2006, 6:37 pm oh I LOVED him. he was so hott!!!! But they could have givin him more lines. I totally cried when he died. But, yea he was an AMAZING actor and played the part really well.
Elena_Berezhnaya August 14th, 2006, 6:42 am He looked just how I imagined him to be from reading the books, he is like this perfect angel of a man. An Adonis for mortal souls, ok now I am thinking of that CedricxHarryxViktor video with that song "Gabriel" and he is portayed as an angel. He looks like an angel to me, he makes me weak and sigh... OMG!!!! LOOOOOOOOVE!!!!!!!!!!
wizard_1 August 15th, 2006, 11:38 pm I think he did a great job,as Cedric Diggory of course:lol:
CatWitch April 5th, 2007, 3:33 am You know, the physical beauty is a very subjective thing.
I agree 200% for I think of him as barely decent looking (and I think nothing of him as an actor). Josh Hartnett would have suited better my image of Cedric from the books. The "beau ténébreux" (mysterious stud), as JKR describes him...
CW
Ditz April 8th, 2007, 1:42 am I personally think that Robert Pattinson did a terrific job in GOF and i think he is one of the hottest people alive too:drool:
CatWitch April 10th, 2007, 4:21 am Ho, well... I'm glad he made your day but he disappointed me all the same...
The worst part was this interview I read about him saying he was glad he could be an actor rather than a salesman in a shoe shop (can't remember were, it was over a year ago). Yuk! To me it sounded like this was his only way out, no diplomas or anything else, ouch!
CW
Montse April 13th, 2007, 4:05 am well ,i don't personally care about the actors private lifes but of the representation they do about the characters i love andi would have to say i liked him fair enough, hes cute,he was nice a true hufflepuf for me.
MaWeasley April 14th, 2007, 8:34 pm I liked him in the part. I had never really come up with a good mental picture of Cedric from reading the book, so Pattinson fit the bill for me.
I was glad I didn't watch the interviews that come as additional footage with the DVD until I had watched the movie a few times, because he does come off as a bit full of himself in that. (Off topic, I know, but the kid who plays Viktor seemed very nice and humble.)
CatWitch April 16th, 2007, 3:58 am "I was glad I didn't watch the interviews that come as additional footage with the DVD until I had watched the movie a few times, because he does come off as a bit full of himself in that."
Well, I was unfortunate enough to have seen/heard interviews of him even before the movie and, yes, only his acting should count but it was not possible in that case. Actors are, after all, an image before they get a chance to be something else and this image is hard to dissociate from the character once they play it. I usually tend to avoid watching actors outside of movies but I am too hungry for HP stuff and I looked at most HP actors interviews .

flowerchild August 6th, 2007, 7:55 pm I think he's really good because he play's the likeable, good guy really well. I cried when he died. :upset:
JJFinch August 30th, 2007, 6:46 pm I can see I'm going to be seriously out-voted here, but I actually don't like him as Cedric - he seemed to swagger too much and I personally think Dan Radcliffe is better-looking. Robert Patterson is good-looking, but not (in my opinion) drop-dead-gorgeous. Cedric's Hufflepuff nature - loyal, hard working and fair - didn't show at all. He was portrayed as an almost egotistical, attention-seeking, "cool-guy" guy.
But granted, he is a very good actor - Dan Radcliffe seemed amateur by comparison, during the maze scene, when Harry had just helped Cedric to his feet.

I completely agree. Pattinson is an amazing actor, as we see throughout the film. However, he is portrayed through his lines and sometimes through his actions as egotistical instead of the loyal Hufflepuff we see in the books. One example of this would be when he's messing around with his friends who all have "Support Cedric Diggory" badges. He acts very differently to how he did in the book.
However, I must say that Pattinson/Director made me care about Cedric more in the film than the books ever did.
I think they cast Cedric well on his looks ;). He was pretty damn HAWT!! I have to admit :D
Moriath October 1st, 2007, 8:44 am Reminder: You're welcome to comment on an actor's looks in regard to the role he plays but posts simply saying that an actor is hot or cute will be deleted.
RavenDoll October 2nd, 2007, 5:07 am at first when he was cast, i saw that picture of him wearing a hoodie and i was like blech ..dans better..UNTIL I SAW HIM ACTT DANNNNGGG he made me drool the whole time, even more than daniel and tom felton. he looked PERFECT when he was at the ball, too. and i like how he has that on screen relationship with katie leung, like looking at her frequently, etc.
btw, robert lives in LA right now... i went to LA and i saw him at the premiere, and they were interviewing him, and he said he moved to LA cuz he got an agent there right after the HP film.
and about seeing him at premiere....lets just say i almost died. literally.
Minisinoo October 3rd, 2007, 11:15 pm I think Rob is a good looking fellow, but in a somewhat unconventional way -- which keeps him from being merely insipid. But if you really look at his face ... he's got a crooked nose, his eyebrows are a bit heavy, his lips are thin, and he has an oddly shaped face. BUT they all come together to work. I think a face like his is easier to remember because he's striking rather than Apollonian beautiful.
But what struck me more about him was his natural charisma. He really does draw the eye, and tended to steal the scenes when he was matched with Dan -- and Dan himself is charismatic.
Acting ... he is and is not a good actor. I think he has excellent instincts and was better than many of the others his own age, including some of those who've been doing it longer (Emma*cough*Watson). But compared to some of the adults, then no. He's still got things to learn. Yet as I said, I think he has the combination of that natural charisma and those good instincts to become a truly fine actor when a few of the rough edges are shaved off. (For instance, he needs to learn to modify his 'broody' look. It gets old. He's actually got a very expressive face, which is something an actor needs, and an astonishingly lovely smile. He MAKES you smile with him. But the broody look ... it's monotonous. He'll learn to do better, I think, if he works on it.)
As for what he brought ... I actually LIKED the touch of arrogance. It was different than in the book. My issue with Cedric in the book is that I had a really hard time imagining WHY he put his name in the Goblet. I mean really. He didn't strike as the sort of kid looking for eternal glory, now did he? Quiet, serious, modest, kind.
But Pattinson brought the necessary ego to the character. But it was balanced. What I think he did best was present the internal battle Cedric must have fought between being blessed by the genetics fairy (I mean, think about it -- beautiful, clever, and athletic) and wanting to be a good person. I LIKE that Cedric wants to be a good person, fair ... but maybe isn't always. It's something we can relate to. :)
So in that respect, I found him really endearing. He IS a little arrogant -- and I could believe Pattinson's Cedric would put his name in the Gobelt -- but he seems to know that about himself and struggles to keep it in check.
Best scene of all ... When his friends haul him into the hall after (apparently?) chasing him down in the rain, and physically shove him into the circle. He's embarrassed, he's fighting them a little (but not TOO hard), and he gives them this, 'Are you serious?' grin over his shoulder. But he puts his name in ... and he's got it ready, you notice. ;) They didn't have to hand him the paper too. He had it ready.
Brilliant little 30-second summary of Cedric's character right there.

he did it for cho :D

DAMN STRAIGHT. best scene ever. so shy, cute and genuine. robert IS pretty sweet :D maybe they handed the paper before they left the hufflepuff room? lol and he had to fight them along the way. Ahhh! Wet pattinson. mm.
Voldemorts8thHorcrux December 28th, 2007, 2:25 pm Robert Pattison portrayed Cedric really really well. He really cleans up nicely doesn't he?, i say that since i saw some of his pictures, he looks really different in those. I'mrealy sad that he's going to play Edward in the Twilight movie, but here isn't the place to discuss it. But as Cedric, he was absolutely amazing.

I agree with you TOTALLY! But I do think he resembles Jude Law a bit...do any of you guys think so?And my fav Cedric scene in the movie is when he's lying down with his friends and Harry calls him to tell about the dragon and he tells Harry he's asked everyone not to wear the"Potter Stinks" badges...Robert was very cute in that scene..
Hysteria January 27th, 2008, 7:50 am I think Robert was too pretty for my liking. I imagined Cedric being a little more 'man-ish' ... tall, dark and handsome... having said that, his acting was fine.
MidnighterWitch January 27th, 2008, 9:10 am I thought he did well as Cedric. Robert looked like the popular hot high school jock. His demeanor came off as a bit "snobbish" and maybe overly confident. But, of course Cedric was a great person. (I don't want to sound like I'm putting down Cedric, because I started to like him more throughout the book).
MC2456 January 27th, 2008, 9:29 am I kind of had him in mind as Cedric D. You know, handsome, jock-like and that kind of stuff?
Nicknak January 31st, 2008, 7:49 pm Hahahaha, all i have to say is soooooo hot!!!! =D I love him, and totally used to be obsessed by him! =S Lol, he's the perfect Cedric, he's exactly how i imagined, can't find any faults but maybe that's cause i was drooling to much......
Astra January 31st, 2008, 8:43 pm I knew a guy called Cedric when I first read GoF and I always pictured him when I was reading. After Robert Pattinson, the picture changed. I really liked his popular-guy act in the film. Chilling with friends.
Oh and "you know the prefect bathroom ... it's not a bad place for a bath" was hilariously delivered :D
imacheeto February 3rd, 2008, 3:36 am well, his character doesn't seem to matter any more, seeing as he's dead. I don't get why people are still talking about him.
IenjoyAcidPops February 3rd, 2008, 6:08 am well, his character doesn't seem to matter any more, seeing as he's dead. I don't get why people are still talking about him.
I don't think anyone's under the impression that Cedric's still an important figure in the films. This is just a place to discuss Robert Pattinson's performance in the role.
And it was a good performance, I think. I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's a thankless role (there are no thankless roles when you have a fandom like this scrutinizing your every move), but Cedric Diggory isn't one of those roles that allows an actor to really go wild or do something that lets them stretch. Pattinson did a good job, though; he made Cedric likable without turning him into a goody-two-shoes or anything. It's pretty solid work.
GrangerHermione February 4th, 2008, 8:39 pm I think Robert Pattison did great job as Cedric. A lot of times, the actors/actresses that have smaller roles are kind of skimmed over and not really recognized, but they are the ones who do a really good job because they make the most of the small role they are given. I think Robert Pattison is one of those. He didn't have a majorly huge part, but he payed it the best that he could and I think he was wonderful.
Pearl_Took February 4th, 2008, 9:32 pm Robert Pattinson was adorable as Cedric!
One of my friends called him a Gigglypuff. :D
RavenDoll February 11th, 2008, 2:25 am Even though Rob had a very small part in GoF (bless him) he still has a special place in my heart just because he LOOKED and portrayed the character perfectly. To be honest with you, I didn't have a particular 'look' in my mind when I first read GOF.. I just thought he'd be handsome, but there werent any SPECIFIC descriptions in my mind. AAAAnd, after seeing Robert on screen, my gosh, my heart does 360' rotation every time he jumps off that tree, or lies on that dude's lap, or takes Harry to take a bath, or dance with Cho. Any many more.
Nicknak March 15th, 2008, 10:17 pm ^ I agree!!!!
lily_potter73 August 22nd, 2008, 10:14 am He's perfect for the role, my eyes teared a lot when he did, although it didnt matter with me that much when I read it in the book.
hpkid421 August 28th, 2008, 12:08 am Hey guys if any of you want to vote cedric in the MoM game we need a lot of votes and you know you want to vote for cedric/edward/robert :)
I love Robert Pattinson and think he did very good with the little he was given and think he will be great in twilight
RemusLupinFan August 28th, 2008, 1:57 am Robert Pattinson really brought Cedric to life for me. For some reason, I wasn't all that affected when he was killed when I was reading the book, but seeing him get killed in the movie did make me sad. I think he played the part quite well.

But yeah. I agree. He was really good as Cedric!

In a series movies where casting was good, Robert Pattinson as Cedric Diggory was particularly well-cast. Handsome, friendly, with just a touch of unconscious arrogance about him, but basically a nice guy. Pattinson was just perfect in the role.

I love Robert Pattinson and think he did very good with the little he was given and think he will be great in twilight
He's a good actor, who wasn't given enough to do in GoF. He played in a British tv movie called "The xxx Airman" (don't remember the exact title), a young pilot shot down and crippled for life. He's awesome.
He will wow everyone again in Twilight.
PhoenixLuna August 29th, 2008, 8:25 pm I thought he was good as Cedric, I can't really see anyone else in the role.
bellatrix93 August 31st, 2008, 10:02 am He is awesome I really loved his performance. I cried a lot when he died.
lilyrose September 10th, 2008, 4:13 pm Even though Rob had a very small part in GoF (bless him) he still has a special place in my heart just because he LOOKED and portrayed the character perfectly.
I agree to every word you said:love::drool::tu:

So in tribute to both Robert and Cedric, could I persuade you ladies to vote for the Cedric ticket for MoM? You get to vote for 2 teams, so could you make one of the two the Cedric/George team?
It would mean a lot to us Cedric (as embodied by Rob) fans! :D

Oh , already supporting Sirius!:tu:So, I'll think and probably will vote for Ced too...
Anyway good luck with Cedric's campaign. He's great too!
Drusilla September 11th, 2008, 10:43 am I agree with RavenDoll and Muggle_Magic about Rob Pattinson - I didn't really have a particular face in my head when I read Cedric on the page, so it was enough for the actor playing him to be handsome (which he is, in spades). But for a small part, he really stood out. You can totally see why the Gryffindor Chasers would have giggled over this boy, and why it would be heartbreaking when he died.
In fact, I'm really happy to see that the supporting actors who played the champions in GoF have mostly done really well since- Pattinson now has Twilight , and Clémence Poésy has a thriving film career in France (not to mention, the fashion world fully realises just how fabulous she is). It's nice to think that the series is helping to launch the careers of talented young actors like Rob and Clémence by bringing them into the public eye, and I hope it continues to do so.

But this time you can vote for TWO teams - so, yes, why not make it Sirius AND Cedric? ;)
Thanks for your good wishes. We're doing the best we can!

Of course, and you can think of voting the same too...Sirius and Cedric:p

Leave the MoM elections in the MoM forum please!
Mad_Druid September 12th, 2008, 11:28 am Robert Pattinson was a perfectly fine Cedric IMO. He kept the character likeable and acted the part convincingly.

Yes..he was extremely convincing:love:
PureBloodGirl October 13th, 2008, 2:43 am  Rpattz is hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He made a great Cedric Diggory and I wish we could have seen more of him in GoF. Why did the hot guy have to die? :upset:

Look at what they did to Sirius too:sad:
Luna_Lovegood12 October 13th, 2008, 1:17 pm I remember in interviews that he said girls would come up to him and say that he wasn't handsome enough to be Cedric!! :wow: Puh!
Anywayz, i think he was a great Cedric, played the part really well, and hes got the handsome thing done!!

Yeah..I remember that too.But IMO he sure proved them wrong and how...;):tu:
RavenDoll November 21st, 2008, 11:22 pm I wasn't even a fan of Cedric in the books UNTIL the movie came out - Robert, wow, wonder why he doesn't do his hair like that in everyday life??? Ced doesn't look always stoned/drunk, does he?
But now.. he's in Twilight.. and that just feels weird because NOBODY knew/liked him back when GoF came out. And now...
Muggle_Magic November 22nd, 2008, 4:30 am ... NOBODY knew/liked him back when GoF came out. And now...
What do you mean? :hmm:
Cedric's fangirls list may not be anything like Snape's or Sirius, but they make up in passion what they lack in numbers. Check the Cedric/George Ministerial Election threads, and check the threads on Cedric Diggory in here, and the number of videos about him on YouTube. They were posted a mile a minute way before they even thought of casting Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen.
You should also check the many awesome fan fics written about Cedric. Especially those written by that ultimate Cedric fan girl, Minisinoo. :D
To think that I, a guy, got caught into this madness for Pretty Boy Diggory...
BTW, RavenDoll, did you at least vote for him in the Ministerial Elections, hmm? *looks stern*
vampiricduck November 22nd, 2008, 4:38 am Tut, stop the stern looks!! :D
I liked Pattinson as Cedric. He really fitted the bill for me; he made for an honest, genuine and hardworking Cedric, the kind of guy I would have been friends with in school. And to be honest, it was the writing and the dialogue and his delivery of it that made Cedric a strong character for me. I was happy to watch him because there was nothing forced about him at all.

Myself I did really like him in the Goblet of Fire movie, and I cried at his death, though I didnt like Cedric when I read the POA and GOF books. And I'm really glad he's in the Twilight movie :D
lilyrose November 22nd, 2008, 4:19 pm Still fishing for votes, Bill?:p
Anyway you're right. Pretty Boy Diggory as played by Robert had a lot of squeeing fans!:D And yes, he did quite a good job as Cedric:tu:

Yea he was popular yes, but he was always second-best to Daniel Radcliffe or Rupert Grint. And you didn't see him in teen magazines or ppl interviewing him - right now, he's more 'hearthrobby' to teens than Zac Efron. I'm not saying NOBODY, literally NOBODY knew him, but rather using the word in a symbolic context.
Actually, i was on a very loooong hiatus for the entire summer and spring - I just got back yesterday.... so I didn't get a chance. *sorry*~
FishEByrd November 23rd, 2008, 3:01 am I thought movie-Cedric was a little less sympathetic than book-Cedric. Movie-Cedric was more flawed, human, in my opinion. He laughed with his friends when they taunted Harry; he lost his head a bit in the maze & played a little dirty. Whereas book-Cedric was a paragon of virtue & stainless wholesomeness, of whom the world was not worthy, etc. He was so good you could tell from his first appearance that he was the sacrificial lamb.
Robt. Pattinson's new role as Edward Cullen is a good next step for him. He gets to play the romantic lead rather than the doomed romantic rival. He gets to ooze tortured self-loathing, anger, and temptation. That first biology lesson where he reacts to Bella's smell is one non-speaking scene that, all by itself, requires more acting than Pattinson's entire role in Goblet of Fire.

What Robert Pattinson managed to do in GoF with the very little material he had to work with is commendable. He managed to convey an image of a more human Cedric, charming, unconsciously arrogant, not above laughing at Harry with his mates, but basically decent. It was quite a feat, because there was less shown of him than even in the book, and the scenes where he does appear in PoA, showing his fair-mindedness and spirit of fair-play, were left out of the movie. He had almost nothing to work with, but he managed to come through with a character that was more than the two-dimensional foil for our hero Harry.
I haven't seen Twilight yet, so I can't judge his acting skills in there.
Vita November 23rd, 2008, 5:50 am I think he is completely riding the wave of GOF and lucked out of find Twilight (another moster hit) which may actually give him a decent career with those on his resume but only time will tell. I think he did a decent job as Cedric, he really had an earnesty that I appriciated and I think his acting skills are ultimately sound but I still find the whole "seedy opium" vibe that I get from his interviews hard to swallow.
DorthyGale November 23rd, 2008, 10:03 am I liked him in GOF a lot. He seems charasmatic in Twilight clips, though I have not seen the movie. I hope he can continue choosing good roles to make a career off of because it can be hard when your perceived mainly as a hearthrobe.
tking November 23rd, 2008, 12:41 pm GoF wasn't the best for him. A scattering of lines doesn't do him justice, for what he pulled off with them was great and believable.
Same with Fleur to think of it.
Quinn December 2nd, 2008, 3:35 pm I really liked Robert Pattinson as Cedric. I think he did a good job. He's a total hottie, that's for sure! haha
luna_luvgood123 December 13th, 2008, 8:32 pm yeah, i thought he did great in GOF but not in TWILIGHT!
RebeccaMatthews December 14th, 2008, 9:39 pm I thought he fantastic in both Twilight and GOF. He's one reason I went to see the Twilight.
GoF wasn't the best for him. A scattering of lines doesn't do him justice, for what he pulled off with them was great and believable.

You read my mind. What he was given didn't do his talent justice. I do think the Twilight saga may just help that. I'm surprised that he found a gig outside of the HP thing because not many of the other secondary actors have done much outside the series.
gertiekeddle December 14th, 2008, 9:42 pm Maybe we can keep this thread to Pattinson's appearance in GoF movie only. Thanks!
Gaian December 14th, 2008, 10:26 pm I really liked Robert Pattinson as Cedric Diggory. It's true he had only a few lines to deliver, but it was well done, he made his character pleasant. I don't understand people (or girls :D) who said he wasn't good-looking enough for the part, to me he has a great charm, something special that fits to the character.
Cedric was a very nice character, his death was so sad .
