I thought he played the part brilliantly, but he wasn't how I imagined him.
Kenneth Branagh as Gilderoy LockhartVoldemort_1 December 2nd, 2005, 1:30 pm I thought he played the part brilliantly, but he wasn't how I imagined him. Trun0_Jay December 2nd, 2005, 1:49 pm I loved gilderoy lockhart in chamber of secrets ,hilarious kenneth brannah (sp?) was great at playing him "tut tut ,hardly any of you remembered my favourite colour was lilac" Hogsmeade December 2nd, 2005, 4:25 pm I thought Kenneth Branagh was a really good Lockhart. He was the funniest character in the movie. psycha December 2nd, 2005, 4:38 pm I liked him, but I guess Hugh Grant would have made more sense. He was their original choice. But since they cut out scenes of the girls sighing over his "beauty", it all worked out fine. Brigitte December 2nd, 2005, 11:56 pm He's one of my fav. characters in the movie!!!!!! I loved the deleted scene with the test! Allombora_Reiven December 3rd, 2005, 12:05 am Kenneth Brannagh is a superb actor and I think he was the perfect choice (even better than Hugh Grant... I... I ... I don't know what to say, I'm just so charmingly befuddled! Oh, Hugh Grant's so charming! Is that so? Why, come here you! DON'T DO IT DAD HE'S BIGGER THAN YOU!!!). Half Blood Matt December 3rd, 2005, 12:12 am Branagh captured the role brilliantly as Lockhart. His cockiness oozed out in the bookstore in Diagon Alley. Even though he didn't have as much on-screen time as I would have liked, Kenneth stole the movie in every scene he was in. I know he probably wouldn't be brought back for such a small scene, but I would love to see Lockhart in St. Mungo's hospital for the scene where the gang see Neville and his parents. Bunny December 3rd, 2005, 12:26 am I thought he played the part brilliantly, but he wasn't how I imagined him. I thought that Kenneth Branagh was an inspired choice and he obviously enjoyed playing the role, he seemed to throw himself into it. No, he wasn't how I imagined him - he was better. I think that he stole the film. AlassinZane December 3rd, 2005, 1:55 am Kenneth did an amazing job, and that's much to say for an actor so used to acting ins Shakespeare's plays. He is such a good actor that I was surprised he accepted a role that was so not what he had been doing, but he pulled it off magnificently. He is still Harry the Fifth and Benedict to me, though. Queen_Beruth December 3rd, 2005, 1:59 am Stole the film, him and Isaacs. Petty larceny. Brigitte December 3rd, 2005, 3:05 am Queen Beruth, I love your sig! Anyway, I can't think of anyone who could play the role any better then Branagh. EmBlack December 3rd, 2005, 1:59 pm Just watched CoS again with the kids on DVD tonight. Kenneth is absolutely fantastic as Gilderoy, he just shines through the whole movie, I just couldn't stop laughing, absolutely fantastic... He's a fantastic performer, and I would love for Lockhart's part to be written into OotP, but I seriously doubt it would happen. Hermione_Potter December 3rd, 2005, 2:24 pm Oh I love Kenneth Branagh. But I don't like Gilderoy that much (I mean who does, yeah well out of topic but I guess not much, anyways) and him playing Gilderoy was unexpected. I liked it. [It was like Emma Thopson playing Professor Sybil Trelawney.] Suzy_Lee December 27th, 2005, 4:54 pm He is the best thing in the entire series cept maybe rickman as snape. He best be in the 5th film, I'm sure he'll appear in the 7th book as well so maybe he will have a major role to play in the end. "Celebrity is as celebrity does. Remember that." sexy mwha. gryffindor84 December 27th, 2005, 5:05 pm branagh was brilliant. i love him. he is the best hamlet ever! he was also fabulous as gilderoy! Kenneth Brannagh is a superb actor and I think he was the perfect choice (even better than Hugh Grant... I... I ... I don't know what to say, I'm just so charmingly befuddled! Oh, Hugh Grant's so charming! Is that so? Why, come here you! DON'T DO IT DAD HE'S BIGGER THAN YOU!!!). yes! family guy rocks! indreams December 27th, 2005, 5:24 pm he was wonderful, totally over the top and that is who lockhart is. the character is rediculous, i mean lockhart is a joke ( i mean this in a good way) branagh took the part and went with it and didnt hold back. he really did the part justice and gave me some good laughs AvadaKediggles December 27th, 2005, 6:25 pm I'd say he was pretty good but I dislike the way he acted at the end. I knew that those lines in the end were from the book, but I imagined him acting a different way. If Branagh didn't play Lockhart then I'd choose... Ewan McGregor? Lol, I know it's an odd choice. But he is younger than Kenneth Branagh and I actually read the book imagining someone who looked like Ewan McGregor! NWO_fan December 27th, 2005, 7:31 pm I loved him! And I always imagined Lockhart more or less like Branagh, so I really enjoyed watching him! bigtex December 27th, 2005, 7:36 pm Branagh and Jason Isaacs were the only good parts of Chamber of Secrets. luna_green_day December 27th, 2005, 7:39 pm I thought Kenneth Branagh was perfect for Lockhart:love: , and it was exactly how I imagined him. mia305 December 27th, 2005, 7:53 pm :D I absolutely loved Kenneth as Lockhart! His performance was just spot-on, he reallly captured Lockhart's character and he was so funny to watch! I really hope they include the St Mungo's scene with Lockhart in OotP, it would be so hilarious to watch!! And it would be such a waste not to use Kenneth as he is brilliant. However I have a bad feeling that Lockhart will be cut for time reasons... :( snowlayd December 27th, 2005, 8:13 pm He was exactly how I imagined him. luna_green_day December 27th, 2005, 8:38 pm :D I absolutely loved Kenneth as Lockhart! :( yeah, i totally agree with that\ "Gilderoy, you naughty boy, where have you wandered off to?" Danatel December 28th, 2005, 9:27 pm He is absolutely brilliant! In the book he was really amusing, but in the film even more :D Kenneth's a great actor, he played Gilderoy very well, his confidence, loving himself... perfect Selene Sedai December 28th, 2005, 9:36 pm He was really good and very close to how i imagined him when i read the books. Chillenco December 29th, 2005, 12:15 am As I'we said before Kenneth Branagh has the best interpretation of all the roles in Harry Potter. He is absolutely hilarious. And Brilliant. HedwigOwl December 29th, 2005, 3:13 am He is the best thing in the entire series cept maybe rickman as snape. He best be in the 5th film, I'm sure he'll appear in the 7th book as well so maybe he will have a major role to play in the end. Agree, Branagh is a brilliant actor and was hilarious as Lockhart. But.....what makes you think Lockhart will be in book 7? eVaNeScEnCe December 29th, 2005, 3:16 am I think Brannagh was awesome-and dare I say, even lovable?- as Lockhart. Still think Hugh Grant would have been more suited if he'd accepted the role, but Brannagh was still good in his own right. PaRTyGiRL089 December 29th, 2005, 6:20 am I like his performance as Gilderoy Lockhart.. He's a natural Lockhart.. Raven_Girly December 29th, 2005, 9:17 am I think Kenneth Branagh was absolutey brilliant in the role of Lockhart. He was perfect, one of the very few characters who turned out exactly as I had imagined, maybe even better. I agree that Hugh Grant would have made a pretty good Lockhart but I still think that Branagh is the best Lockhart possible. He was one of the highlights of CoS, every scene he was in had me in stitches. I hope to see him in OotP. I know his role there is hardly important to the plot but he is such a funny character and I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping to see him again! Suzy_Lee December 29th, 2005, 10:34 am Agree, Branagh is a brilliant actor and was hilarious as Lockhart. But.....what makes you think Lockhart will be in book 7? I donty know, I keep imagining a big finale pantomine style where everyone comes back and takes a bow.....Lockhart was in the 5th book, and something may happen with Nev's parents at St Mungo's and then Locky could return...I hope. I think Hugh Grant could have been good, you know Daniel Cleaver style Lockhart, however i prefer brannagh as an actor so yer, he did better then Hugh could have  what a legend. gualsa December 29th, 2005, 10:54 am Kenneths performance is one of the reasons why CoS is one of my favourite HP films. Kenneth is such an accomplished actor and has been in enough costume dramas to feel completely at ease in those ridiculous outfits. Lockhart is one of my favourite HP characters. He is so unbelieveably over the top that it actually works really well. Kenneth Branagh is not who I would have picked for the part but that only because I mostly remember him from more serious roles. Having seen him play Lockhart I would now not have any other actor do it. He is fantastic. I also hope he will be included in the next film but unfortunately I think the whole St Mungo's scene will be axed because its just not relevant enough. :( SQUIBGIRL7 December 29th, 2005, 10:56 am Branagh did a really good job acting Lockhart out and I always imagined that he would look more or less like him so I really enjoyed watching the movie.:D WisestWitch February 5th, 2006, 11:22 pm I loved Kenneth Branagh as Gilderoy Lockhart! He was so very funny, and ridiculous! He really made me laugh and he really made me want to take a copy of his autobiography, "Magical Me" and just slap him across the face with it. I thought he did a really good job. Jolly Good Job Kenneth! bravesfan150 February 5th, 2006, 11:23 pm he acted the part well, but hes not at all like he is described in the books Bunny February 6th, 2006, 12:15 am he was wonderful, totally over the top and that is who lockhart is. the character is rediculous, i mean lockhart is a joke ( i mean this in a good way) branagh took the part and went with it and didnt hold back. he really did the part justice and gave me some good laughsHe was superb, absolutely. I can't think that anybody would have played that part better. I gather he thoroughly enjoyed the part, well both him and Jason Isaacs. I agree, I still can't think of Gilderoy and not see Kenneth.  Tarentallegra February 6th, 2006, 12:56 am He was perfect! Exactly as I imagined him. Branagh is also great in Much Ado About Nothing...such a good actor. 62442al_Man March 31st, 2006, 4:05 am I heard some stories about him being laughed at because I think he curled his hair and stuff for the role. He of coursebeing a good actor, laughed a long with the kids. Still, you must feel some remorse to some of the stuff that actors go through just because they take on a certain role. I comend Kenneth and I wouldn't have picked anyone else other than him to play Gilderoy Lockhart. It obvious to me that he is a good actor considering the man he had to play. He did it so well, too! Mad_Druid March 31st, 2006, 4:46 am I thought that Kenneth was wonderful as Lockhart. He doesn't look like I initially imagined the character, but he played him so well that now I cannot see anyone else in the role. I hope that we may see him again! He played him to foppish perfection:D leenielou March 31st, 2006, 10:52 am He played him to foppish perfection :D Ooh, I love that phrase :D Yes, Branagh was excellent. He's an incredible actor anyway, and he really helped CoS to not fall flat on its face. He didn't over-do it, or under-do it in any way. Absolutely fantabulous :D bex93 March 31st, 2006, 6:21 pm I liked him!I thought him hilarious and that's how imagained him in the book.I hopr they put him back in for OOP! evilvimto April 16th, 2006, 11:52 pm after watching kenneth branagh in wild west and look back in anger (grr) i think he is an amazing actor. they definetly picked the right actor. i think its amazing how he manages to play so many difrent types of baddies. the dopey baddie who is very vain (lochart) the evil baddie (guy in wild west) and the baddie you just want to reach into the tv and slap (jimmy) is great. i dont think i have ever seen him play a good guy. scd April 16th, 2006, 11:54 pm I so love Lochkart in the movie, he is perfect. lucy_vildevolpe April 18th, 2006, 6:51 am I thought he looked old, and not nearly handsome enough. But his acting was superb, and he brought Lockhart to life. I cant complain about that. MugglyBrit April 22nd, 2006, 5:43 am His acting was PERFECT. He just wasn't pretty enough. Hahaha. I read a rumor that Hugh Grant was considered... He would have been HILARIOUS!!! But I don't know b/c Kenneth Branagh did some great things with the character... Yeah, Branagh was great. galleon August 16th, 2006, 11:37 pm I just watched Chamber of Secrets again after a long time. I can't! Branagh is hystercal and so funny! He's perfect as Gilderoy. All I wish for is just one more scene in book 7 between Snape and Gilderoy. Rickman doesn't even have to say a word. Just let Gilderoy ramble about how wonderful he is and how Professor Snape was his assistant in the dueling club. And then let Rickman scowl at him! LOL! Too funny! wizard_1 August 17th, 2006, 4:01 pm I like his acting he does such a good job. "It's almost like magic". Chrisy August 23rd, 2006, 4:05 pm He was great, he is a talented actor thats just how Lockhart is ment to be. Fenrir_Fan August 25th, 2006, 2:08 pm He was perfect for the part. He looked exactly and acted exactly like I imagined him. They couldn't have picked a better person. MoonPrincess September 5th, 2006, 7:23 pm He was fabulous as Lockhart! He was just how Lockhart was described...perfect. weaselbee September 5th, 2006, 8:50 pm He wasn't quite the Lockhart I had come up with, but Kenneth Branagh played him so well! I suppose he was a little annoying at times, but that's fine. I mean, he's meant to.. or Harry sees him that way. He cracks me up everytime, though. tru0001 September 17th, 2006, 10:11 am after watching COS... i realised he was doing documentrys as well elfmadewine September 22nd, 2006, 1:09 am He was goood. I didn't imagine him as that...I don't know, puffy. But otherwise wonderful job, very annoying:p weasleyluver15 September 23rd, 2006, 4:07 am He was absolutely perfect for this role!! I love the scene when he's just had his memory erased and he says to Ron-"Hello. Who are you? Really? And, er, who am I? It's an odd sort of place isn't it? Do you live here?" and then he when Harry, Ginny, Ron, and him are flying on the Phoenix, he's like "Amazing! It's just like magic!" That was so funny to watch:lol:   :D Bunny September 25th, 2006, 11:58 am I loved the fact that he obviously thoroughly enjoyed doing it. He made me laugh out loud. Wizard_Pupil September 25th, 2006, 3:38 pm Did I answer already? I dont remember. Anyway I answer again::: Obviously I like Kenneth Branaght, and his Gilderoy was brilliant, it was funny, it has Branagh touch, but at the same time it´s trueful and faithful with book-Gilderoy. I hope to see him again in HP 7. We need to know more about Gilderoy galleon September 30th, 2006, 5:38 pm He has to show up in book 7. He just has to. Let him come back and remind Snape that he was his assistant in the dueling club. Just imagining the look on Snape's face would be priceless. teardrops17 October 5th, 2006, 3:50 am I liked it to... but he isn't handsome... but he's great in funny scenes LemonFaerie October 26th, 2006, 11:03 am He was PERFECT, completely clueless, totally cheeky, with that twinkle in his eye and the roguish grin - absolutely perfect, and so funny. I hope we see him with his mad autograph signing in St Mungo's. Bunny October 30th, 2006, 9:50 am We need to know more about Gilderoy He has to show up in book 7. I wonder if JK will write him into the epilogue? I hope we see him with his mad autograph signing in St Mungo's.That would be funny, but I think with everything else that is going on in OotP, I doubt it. It would be a funny moment though. If there is a chance that Lockhart is in Book 7, I'd love Kenneth Branagh to reprise his role Wizard_Pupil December 17th, 2006, 1:17 pm I met Branagh (And Helena B Carter) with "Frankenstein" I think it´s the best Frankenstein movie so far, acording to the book. So I became a fan. I saw him in Otello (He plays the evil Yago:: Another villain) and other Shakespeare movies. God, I got to see "Hamlet"! Branagh in "Frankenstein" (Who also was the director) changed a few things of the book, but certainly was the first time Frankenstein story was shows truely. I love Kenneth(Gilderoy) and Helena (Bellatrix) as Victor and Elizabeth Frankenstein There Kenneth plays a dramatic role, certainly is a tragic story, you can feel pity for him. When I knew he was in the casting of "The Chamber of Secrets" I definitely though: He will be ˇˇLucius Malfoy!! (LOL) I havent seen him in a comedy role, but he can be Gilderoy too. Certainly at the end I knew he will be playing Gilderoy, a comedy role, Hugh Grant would be great too, but Kenneth added his touch to the character. muggle82193 January 13th, 2007, 1:34 am He was awesome, exactly how I imagined him. portage January 13th, 2007, 3:56 am if i was to re cast this part i would have to look at kenneth branaghs views about this part as gildorty lockhart. but he is a good actor arithmancer January 13th, 2007, 4:34 pm When I knew he was in the casting of "The Chamber of Secrets" I definitely though: He will be ˇˇLucius Malfoy!! (LOL) I havent seen him in a comedy role, but he can be Gilderoy too. Check him out in "Much Ado About Nothing", if you like Shakespeare. Wizard_Pupil January 13th, 2007, 5:35 pm Check him out in "Much Ado About Nothing", if you like Shakespeare. I think I saw it, but had no idea the name in english. The one with Emma Thompson, Denzel Washington, Keanu Reeves? I think arithmancer January 13th, 2007, 7:59 pm I think I saw it, but had no idea the name in english. The one with Emma Thompson, Denzel Washington, Keanu Reeves? I think Yes, that's the one I mean. ferventfairy January 13th, 2007, 9:03 pm Branagh as Lockhart, oh man! He was amazing! Although, I did expect Lockhart to be a bit better looking, the way Branagh delivered the character was unbelievable. nicloetje January 15th, 2007, 8:33 pm I LOVED IT! My mum and I usually do silly quotes and she often does Lockhart after he has been obliviated... Hello...Odd sort of place, do you live here? :rotfl: taupimu February 23rd, 2007, 2:18 am After seeing Kenneth Branagh play Shakespear, Gilderroy Lockhart was something very different. I thought he did a wonderful job. Kashman March 20th, 2007, 10:46 am Like Richard Harris, Jason Issaac, Dame Maggie Smith he seemed to born to play that role. I think even JK said he was Gilderoy as she imagined him. Ditz April 8th, 2007, 2:22 am Like Richard Harris, Jason Issaac, Dame Maggie Smith he seemed to born to play that role. I think even JK said he was Gilderoy as she imagined him. I totally agree he was born to play this role! arithmancer April 8th, 2007, 2:28 am I totally agree he was born to play this role! I agree he was brilliant, the Duelling Club scene is probably my fave scene in the movies so far, except maybe the Graveyard. But I would not say he was born to play it. I think it was a brilliant acting performance, he can seem very different in other roles (say, a heroic king in Henry V). Montse April 8th, 2007, 2:35 am he was so lockhart, eventhough not so handsome for me. Belltatrix June 5th, 2007, 3:16 am He was the highlight of the film. Kenneth played the role down to perfection! :tu: Nothing beats his Lockhart haha troryfan July 5th, 2007, 9:25 pm kenneth is a fantastic actor. previous to the films, i had only ever seen him in shakespearean roles, so it was a nice change. He plays arrogant so well!!! He is Brill! Jo Eryka July 31st, 2007, 8:13 pm I was kinda worried he wouldn't get the part right but Kenneth Branagh did a great job at being a pompous git! I loved him! flowerchild August 6th, 2007, 7:39 pm I do hate Lockhart is CoS (but not in Ootp book) but i though Kenneth Branagh played him really well and he looked right too-blonde curly hair and bright white smile. cybobbie August 8th, 2007, 3:04 am While I was reading the book I didn't I imagined Lockhart as he was portrayed in the movie, but Kenneth Branagh was perfect in the role, so much better than the Lockhart that I imagined, that his is one of my favorites performances in the movies. I always loved Kenneth Branagh, he is such a great actor and I saw most of his movies, but with the Shakespeare's background, playing such a different role was a surprise for me. But he really went deep in portraying Lockhart, he captured his characteristics so well, that smile, he was so funny!! I was really sad that we didn't see him again in OotP, since they cut the scenes in St. Mungo's. :grumble: Wizard_Pupil September 1st, 2007, 3:26 pm Yeaaah, what apity we will not see more Gilderoy in HP movies. But I really want to see other newest Kenneth´s work as a director of these two movie "Sleuth" and "Magic Flute", because I love thrillers movies and opera movies. And I guess we will see Kenneth acting again a bit in Valkyria. Gosh!! the subject of this movie, Valkyrie, is just fascinating, I always loved this kind of subject, it looks quite violent.... and I hope they do this right XD :relax: loonyluna0114 September 1st, 2007, 6:18 pm I thought he was good, not great as I think that the way he delivered some of his lines was abit forced and he wasnt as good looking as id imagined him to be (sorry Kenneth Branagh!!!) Wizard_Pupil September 5th, 2007, 3:39 pm I think Kenneth also improved Gilderoy , he gave something extra to the character, as well as Jason Isaacs did with Lucius. But just because he´s not good looking there... people do not think so XD mactheknife February 18th, 2009, 12:09 pm I thought he played the part brilliantly, but he wasn't how I imagined him. couldnt have said it better meself:) Jonny Boy June 29th, 2009, 5:25 pm I think Kenneth Branagh did the best job of any actor in the movie of playing their character. He does such a perfect Lockhart its scary. mactheknife June 29th, 2009, 9:07 pm Yeh his performance was amazing! Soooo close to Lockhart in the books! Freak of nature June 29th, 2009, 10:10 pm All I can say that Kenneths Lockahart was awesome. Simply put, Kenneth was brilliant! mrfutterman June 29th, 2009, 10:22 pm He's terrific. Like Isaacs, he has exactly the right approach to the material. dchristen03 July 4th, 2009, 11:29 pm He was a brilliant actor and exactly how I imagined him. I'm glad he did the whole sweeping his robes thing whenever he walked, like he fanned his backside so it would blow. That's what I really imagined Lockhart doing. But the thing that really made me believe in him was that he sounded so full of himself and he really matched the description from the book. Great actor for the part of Lockhart! I don't think they could've found a better one. BrianSeverus July 5th, 2009, 5:18 pm Kenneth Branagh definitely didn't look quite the way I had imagined Lockhart, but he played the character quite well. The reason I'm not fond of him as Lockhart is that he looks too much like William Shatner, which, to me, is a problem. TX_Grindelwald July 5th, 2009, 9:35 pm He did an excellent job with Lockhart. Better than anybody else I could have thought of. As he does with all his roles I have seen him in. My favorite is his performance as Hamlet. hestiajones July 22nd, 2009, 10:56 am No one could have done it better than him. luvlunalovegood July 22nd, 2009, 11:30 am I guess not. Sad they cut out his scene in the OOTP isnt it? Wonder who Kenneth would have done this very different Lockhart? Unrepentant July 22nd, 2009, 1:09 pm Only me who finds it pretty strange that Kenneth and Emma Thompson are married? :D What if their characters were? 'Autograph, dear?' 'No... I see a foreboding... the time of autographs is nigh... Death... the Grimm... it creeps...' 'Excellent! You can get a kiss too. Wow Sybil, you are perhaps my most dedicated fan yet!' SevrusSnape July 22nd, 2009, 7:43 pm He was great as Lockhart in COS, the constant smiling was great after everything he said, I love the scene where he rebounds his memory spell against him and starts asking Ron who he is and then asks Ron who he himself is. SwedishSkinJer August 9th, 2010, 3:28 pm http://www.encyclopedie-hp.org/images/films/lockhart_flourish.jpg http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-images/Film/Pix/gallery/2002/10/23/lockhart3.jpg I know that some fans disliked Branagh's performance because, in their view, he wasn't as handsome as they imagined the Lockhart of J.K. Rowling's text to be, but I disagree: he was positively gorgeous and, to complement his looks, I'm pleased that the costume designers kept in more of his flamboyant choices of clothing. He's one of the best assets that Britain has in classical theater and, in that style, he brought a real depth to a character whose storyline is darkly ridiculous. Hes August 9th, 2010, 8:33 pm Please guys put big pictures under expanded tags. He's one of the best assets that Britain has in classical theater and, in that style, he brought a real depth to a character whose storyline is darkly ridiculous. I loved Branagh's performance. He was perfect as Lockhart, in part because he is such a talented & accomplished actor. Lockhart's not an easy role to pull off well. mrfutterman August 10th, 2010, 7:53 pm Only me who finds it pretty strange that Kenneth and Emma Thompson are married? :D They divorced long before the Potter films were made. Just as well that their characters did not overlap in Potterverse! MissGranger1979 September 11th, 2010, 5:37 pm I thought Kenneth Branagh was hilarious as Lockhart. He played him really well! His fake laugh and smile were so funny! The outfits and everything were exacly how I imagined Lockhart to be. SwedishSkinJer September 11th, 2010, 6:03 pm If anyone's interested in some refreshment on the details of Kenneth Branagh's performance, I found the entire scene of Gilderoy Lockhart's disastrous Cornish Pixie lesson (in very acceptable video quality!) on YouTube. For some reason, it starts with a brief scene from Shrek 2, but it ends at 0:17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KM7VUe7Mn3E&feature=related EDIT: The video's link should be working properly now. Branagh's overdramatic pronunciation of "Gilllllderoy Lockhart" at the beginning is simply brilliant. His geeky chuckling at his own humor (humor about his work, if that wasn't enough) is a wonderful little touch, as well. wicked87 September 20th, 2010, 6:37 am At the Wizarding World there's a store display of Lockhart..it has some of him books and a few moving photos of Kenneth as him looking so full of himself. I loved that, it tickled me silly! I thought he was perfect as Lockhart, and I'm very curious how much of a stretch it was for him to play the character. I've heard he's a bit conceited in real life, but I don't care because he is a god in my other nerd obsession: Shakespeare! UselessCharmMaster September 27th, 2010, 5:48 pm Aww, I loved this guy! I realy like Lockhart, and I think Branagh did a great job playing him. Carne September 28th, 2010, 10:03 pm Whenever I read his lines in CoS, I keep imagining Troy McClure from the Simpsons, and not Kenneth Branagh's voice :P FriendOfNeville May 31st, 2011, 10:06 am I think Kenneth Branagh did a fantastic job! Though I did picture someone younger. Rodrick June 3rd, 2011, 1:44 am Brilliant! Loved him in the movie. The other day my sister was telling me how they should have gone for Hugh Grant because Kenneth does not look the part but I actually don't mind that. The acting is what matters and what brilliant great acting it was from Kenneth. Loved him in Hamlet as well. tru0001 June 18th, 2011, 12:28 pm Brilliant! Loved him in the movie. I remember back in 2001-2002 Hugh Grant was actually rumoured to be Gilderoy before the confirmations xD KaylaJay95 June 18th, 2011, 12:37 pm I think he was fantastic as Lockhart. Somehow I don't think Hugh Grant could have played the part as well. Snapes_Girl June 18th, 2011, 2:43 pm I thought Kenneth Branagh did an excellent job as Prof. Lockhart. His blondish locks and dashing smile were Gilderoy all over. I also I thought he conveyed Lockhart's vanity and habit of making blunders to perfection. I couldn't imagine anyone else playing that role now. :) |
