hprulez January 6th, 2006, 10:01 pm Harry sat on his bed reading his latest letter from Ginny.
"Everything's fine, fine, Hermonies been here for two weeks already but what can you expect? I think she's waiting for Ron to propose. Bill and Fleur came round yesterday with some news. She's pregnant! Mum was thrilled as you can expect. Her first grandchild. Do you remember when Ron was made a prefect the party she threw? Well this one is going to be ten times bigger. It's organised for when you come. Oh Harry i can't wait. I love you. You know that don't you? The time when we were apart nearly killed me. More than Voldemort. Ok I'm going to go know because this is starting to sound really slushy. I love you.
Ginny xxxxx"
Harry smiled at the letter as a tear slid down his face, the letter was just like Ginny, full of news until she told you the purpose of what she was writing. He didn't blame Mrs Weasley for throwing a big party, she hadn't anything to celebrate since George died. He rememebered the prefect party. He was upset because Ron was a prefect and he wasn't. He could laugh now at what he thought was a drama in his life then. In the three years since then he had met Ginny, many of the important people in his life had died. He remembered all that an that was why he was crying. He slid a piece of parchment on his desk and wrote a quick reply to the love of his life.
" God what great news for your mum! she must be thrilled. Well she is as you told me! Yes i remember the prefect party. I love you too. And now onto the first part of your letter, and i don't mean about Ron and Hermonie, they will be next at the altar! No, I mean abut the part of you dropping out of Hogwarts! I know I did it but i was going after Voldemort! I'd go back now if I could and do seventh year. Please Ginny dont do that-not for me. I could come up on weekends, I know McGonagoll is a bit of a dragon, but she won't be that bad, she'll let me up to see you! I'll write and ask her if you want. Ginny please! Don't do this. Your mum will kill me. I'm serious. I will be dead in the kitchen. Not what you want? Don't drop out. I know we will be married but i want you to have a good job. I sound like your parents but honestly i do. You realise i can't be a Auror? I need NEWTS to do that and i haven't got them! Now i sound like I'll be counting on you for money, I won't! Thats why I'm in London, trying to get a job. I'll be at the burrow in two days. I love you too and i want to make up for the time we were apart be cause of me.
Harry xxxxx"
Attaching the letter onto Hedwig's leg he talked to her.
"Now this letter is so personal make sure you give it to Ginny. Ok? Just Ginny No one else. Promise?"
With a hoot and softly squeezing his arm encouraginley she took off in flight.
ok must go now, getting told to get off the computer. feedback to me in owl please haven't set up a link yet.
hprulez January 9th, 2006, 8:44 pm Harry didn't have to wait long for his reply.
"Harry I know you love me, but it's too late. I have dropped out. I am no longer a member of Hogwarts. And what do you mean you won't be able to get a job as an Auror? You're the one who killed Voldemort, the evilest of wizards ever apart from maybe Salza Slyetherin. The Ministry is dying for you to join them. Look, Dad can set up a meeting with them for you. Promise me you'll go? I'll see you tomorrow. Love you.
Ginny xxxx"
Harry was stunned when he got the letter. Ginny had dropped out? He knew he had to get to the Burrow immediately.
Quickly he packed his stuff and apparated to The Burrow.
Mrs Weasley yelped when he appeared in the kitchen.
"Harry, you gave me a fright! You’re in the twins room, Fred cleared all their stuff away you know, but do you need some food first?” She seemed to say this all in one breath. Ginny’s in her room if you want to say hello” she added with a twinkle in her eye.
Grinning Harry answered that no he was fine and yes, he would say hello to Ginny.
Practically running up the first flight of stairs at breakneck speed he raced into Ginny’s room. Looking up she squealed.
“Harry!”
Kneeling up on her bed she kissed him.
“Oh. I. Have. Missed. You. So. Much.” she breathed, punctuating each word with a kiss.
“Well hello to you too!’ Harry laughed, surprised.
Pulling her down so he had his arms around her, his face turned serious.
“So. Why did you drop out Ginny? I begged you not to. Although you’re mum doesn’t sound that angry. Or surprised.” He mused.
Laughing, Ginny looked up at him.
“That’s because she knows it’s the right thing for me to do. I got good OWLs you know and I did do a year of NEWT studies, and McGonagoll smiled and said she would give me a good reference. In fact so did most the teachers so I’ll be fine. Don’t worry Harry. I’m going to be fine. There is more important things than school you know Harry.”
“Don’t let Hermonie hear you say that” he quipped, hiding his shock. Mrs Weasley had gone ballistic when Fred and George dropped out why not with Ginny her only daughter? Though he supposed with George’s death she had had to put her family first instead of her reputation, and had finally realized that when her family was happy, that was more important than what people thought.
“Ok. I better go,” he whispered. “Your mum told me just to say hello. She will kill me.”
Smiling she said “And I guess you want to say hello to Hermonie and Ron?”
“Yep. Are they both in his room?
“ Mmmmm, mum let them since she moved in. I think she was just overjoyed to have some more people in the house. I think she gets lonely most of the time.”
Nodding, Harry hugged her and left. Walking up the stairs he found the room that was now Hermonie and Ron’s. The room he had himself slept in most of the time. He grinned. Now Hermonie was in there he was sure it was a lot tidier than when two schoolboys slept in there. Knocking before walking in, he entered.
Hermonie squealed like Ginny did. But she kissed him on the cheek. Ron was grinning like the Cheshire Cat.
“When did you get here mate?” Ron asked slapping him on the back.
Grinning back, “About a hour ago” He replied.
“OH so that was you going into Ginny’s room.” But Ron’s face had lost it’s grin.
“Ron shut up.” Snapped Hermonie. Smiling she hugged him and asked how London was.
“It was fine, I didn’t get a job, but Mr Weasley said he’d see if the Ministry will put me on the training programme even though I didn’t get my NEWTs.”
“Harry they were always going to let you on that programme. If they don’t I still have contact with Rita Skeeter” said Hermonie with an impish smile on her face.
“Yeah. Harry. That was what I wanted to talk to you about. Did you have anything to do with Ginny dropping out?” asked Ron with a frown.
“No! Honestly mate, I tried to stop her.”
With that reassurance Harry left to go to the twins old room, suddenly exhausted.
So what did youthink about this chapter?
hprulez January 10th, 2006, 8:28 pm The next day Harry dressed and went downstairs as soon as he smelt the bacon frying. Entering he smiled. Some of his favourite people were in this room. Mrs Weasley was fussing round everyone checking they had enough to eat, but quietly everyone was contented. Hermonie and Ron were holding hands underneath the table, Fred was with Alicia Bell, Mr Weasley was talking in earnest about satellite.
“And they actually pay? For more channels? Why?”
Hermonie as always was answering his questions.
“Yes Mr Weasley they pay because there is more stuff on those channels, better than on normal TV. “
Harry scanned the room, Charlie was sitting devouring a bacon sandwich, a fresh burn on his shoulder. Percy was slightly ill at ease, of course no-one was speaking to him. Ginny sat in a quiet corner with a empty chair next to her. A serene smile broke over her face as she spotted Harry. He slid into the chair next to her as Mrs Weasley swooped down on Harry.
“Harry! Would you like a bacon sandwich? Eggs? Sausage?”
“Yes please Mrs Weasley.”
As she turned back to the stove everyone heard a key in the door, and Bill and Fleur walked in as Percy left the room.
“Mum!” Bill grinned, his features twisting as he did so. “Can I have some bacon?”
Mrs Weasley nodded, but she didn’t cook Bill’s, she just gave it straight to him out of the packet. Like his younger brother Charlie he devoured it. Harry studied Fleur. She didn’t look any different. In fact, she looked quite miserable. Like she was dreading the next few months. Harry hadn’t seen her like that since waiting in the tent to face the first task in the Triwizard Tournament. Ron smiled at Hermonie and nodded at her. Hermonie cleared her throat. Everyone looked round.
“Now that everyone’s here, we have a announcement to make. Last night, Ron asked me to marry him. And I said yes!” holding up her left hand Hermonie beamed. The girls screamed and looked at the ring while Ron’s ears turned red. Ginny turned round.
“Isn’t that Great Aunt Muriel’s ring?” she demanded of Ron.
“Yes. Mum always said anyone could use it and, I couldn’t think of a better use.”
Ginny shot Harry a look. Ron sheepishly grinned at Harry.
“Anyway” Hermonie continued, “We’ve decided to have a small wedding in two weeks.”
There was silence as everyone digested that. Mrs Weasley shrieked.
“We’ll never be ready!”
Harry was watching Bill and Fleur through this and Fleur looked grumpy. Maybe she thought her news was being upstaged? Harry shrugged and whispered in Ginny’s ear. She giggled. She looked at her left hand. It glinted. Harry spoke above all the noise and somehow everyone fell silent.
“Mate, I hope you don’t think we’ve copied you.” With that Ginny slowly raised her left hand. But there was no screaming just a stunned silence. Then Harry thought he was being choked until he realised it was Hermonie hugging him.
“Harry! That is so great!” She said kissing Ginny.
Ginny then told everyone
“But ours is going to be a long engagement. I want to wait until Harry is a Auror.”
Harry looked over at Ron. His face was like thunder, so different from everyone else, theirs were smiling and laughing. Even Mr and Mrs Weasley, were smiling, even though they had just been told they were losing their two youngest children.
“Harry” Hermonie squeaked “We’ll be related!”
So what about this chapter? Feedback in owl please! Still need to set up the link.
hprulez January 11th, 2006, 6:10 pm Harry was astonished. He knew Ron was never going to be thrilled at the news his baby sister was engaged but he never expected the response he got next.
“What? She is only seventeen! She would still be in school if she never dropped out! I bet this was the reason wasn’t it Ginny?” Ron spat at them. Ginny as usual rose to the argument.
“No! I left because I was tired of being treated like a child and I knew I couldn’t stand another year in school! Mum and Dad accept me leaving why can’t you? And for your information Harry proposed last night! I was pleased at your news and Bill’s! Why can’t you accept I’m a adult? I’m of age so leave me alone!”
With that Ginny ran from the room. Harry muttered
“I’ll just go see how she is.”
Like the previous night he sprinted up the stairs, but this tie for a entirely different reason.
Barrelling into Ginny’s room he practically flew to the bed where she lay sobbing.
“Ginny. Ginny honey, come on. He’s upset, that’s all, the important thing was your mum and dad and they were fine!”
She looked up at him, strangely still beautiful though her face was red, and her hair stuck to the wet patches her tears had made.
“Harry. We’re not even going to be married till at least next year. But still he’s angry why?”
Harry thought about it. He remembered from the time he got on the train for the first time as a gangly eleven year old, Ron had been his friend. Maybe he felt betrayed. Then he remembered that Ron had always felt jealous of the attention Harry. Maybe this was something he felt he should be able to do on his own? But he wouldn’t want them to announce their engagement on his wedding day would he? Then the day would be known as the day Harry Potter Gets Engaged.
‘I don’t know Gin. Maybe he thought we were upstaging him or something. I don’t understand it. Listen. We will get through this. You’re wearing my mum’s ring! That means something doesn’t it?”
Ginny nodded remembering that day in Godfric’s Hollow.
Flashback
Harry, Ron, Hermonie and Ginny finally arrive after days of getting lost.
“It was your fault Ronald!”
What do you mean MY fault? You used to be a muggle and we ended up in Liverpool! That’s a city! Liverpool!”
Harry decided to intervene, because he couldn’t stand being silent, or their bickering.
“It was no-one’s fault. The map was upside down is what was wrong. Stop it!”
Ginny smiled, glanced at him, then looked away. Harry was sorry he asked her along, but he couldn’t be parted from her. Not yet. So far the atmosphere had been awful. Tense and awkward, there had been none of the friendly comrade ship that had been there between him, Ron and Hermonie since first year.
Harry looked up and gasped. He had come home at last.
Home was a wreck that he recognised from his distant past. He gulped and entered. As he walked around he felt a sense of loss that had always felt like a nagging part of him, rise up in his chest. He entered what had been his parent’s bedroom. He gasped for a second time. It was still fully furnished, though it was like water in his hands. He knew if he touched it the furniture would fall to nothing. He approached a chest of drawers. Sliding the drawer he found a musty, dusty leather box. Opening that he found a woman’s wedding ring and an engagement ring. He knew without being told this was his mother’s. Finally he began to cry.
End Flashback
Gathering Ginny in his arms he knew that they would never be apart again. Without speaking the both left the room. Entering the kitchen he heard Ron being told off by everyone.
“Ruined your sister’s engagement. How could you? She was happy for you! And it’s with Harry. The one man you’d actually like her to be with!”
“Ron! You, Harry and me have been friends for seven years! How could you?”
“Mate, there’s a fine line, and you crossed it ages ago.”
Ginny smiled through her tears and came in.
“It’s all right everyone! I’m fine.” Then her, Hermonie and Fleur started to talk about wedding plans, Fleur’s face becoming radiant for the first time. Harry watched Bill watch his wife. Bill noticed Harry and smiled ruefully.
“She’s not happy about this baby you know. She thinks it might be deformed, says it doesn’t feel right within her. I hope she’s wrong. I love her too much Harry!”
“I feel the same about Ginny. I want to protect her through everything. As Ron says, I have a “saving people thing”. I never want to have Ginny hurt.”
Feedback please! there is now a link. Please!
hprulez January 14th, 2006, 10:28 am A week later and the Burrow were in a flurry of wedding preparations. Harry had been with both Ron and Hermonie to choose their outfits. The latter because she didn’t want Ron to see the dress and she wanted a male perspective. Hermonie looked beautiful and it made him frustrated because he wanted it to be him and Ginny at the altar, not watching the people he knew best. Harry was to be best man although things were still frosty between him and Ron. Harry knew he had to talk to him but he was avoiding it. He stayed in the twin’s room until he knew him and Hermonie had gone out, and he went to bed late. Ginny seemed amused by it all. She shared his feelings about the wedding and wished it were them. On top of all that his meeting with the minister was the next day. He was nervous. For four years this had been his dream. Now it rested in the hands of one man. Ron entered the room. He went to leave but Harry sighed and called him back.
“Ron. We have to talk about this. Why are you so against me and Ginny?”
Ron blushed.
“It’s not that I’m against you and Ginny. It’s that Ginny’s my baby sister and you already left her once and I don’t want her to get hurt. And you’ve moved into her room.” If it was possible Ron turned even redder. He looked like a beetroot.
Harry grimaced. He couldn’t believe he was having this talk with his best friend. Then he was angry. He left Ginny to protect her! Even Ginny knew that and they had got back together as soon as they could. He would never hurt Ginny but he would hurt anyway that did. Which Ron was, Ginny was crying herself to sleep every night. He was feeling his heart break when he listened to her.
“Ron! I can’t believe you brought that up,” exclaimed a voice in the corner. It was Hermonie. And she was angry.
“Harry left Ginny because she would have died if he didn’t and don’t you think this family has suffered enough without losing their baby sister? Harry did what he had to and Ginny accepted that and waited for him. Why can’t you be supportive? Are you going to be like this with our baby?” Hermonie stopped to take a breath and then realised what she had said.
“Oh no. I didn’t mean to say that.”
Harry was gobsmacked. “Your pregnant? Is that the reason for the quick wedding? What about your career?” Hermonie had opened SPEW to the public and it was turning out to be very popular. When they had gone to Diagon Alley there had been a lot of people with the badges on.
Hermonie looked like she was about to burst into tears.
“Yes. We were going to pretend the baby was premature. I can do my SPEW work at home but I don’t know what people are going to say. I’ll be eighteen with a baby. People aren’t going to support SPEW when they find out.”
Silently Ron hugged her, his face tight.
Something dawned on Harry. “Is that why you were against me and Ginny getting engaged? But we said we are having a long engagement!”
Ron nodded slowly. “Ginny has only just turned seventeen and she dropped out of school. I thought it was the reason.”
Harry grinned. “Now we’re going to have to wait until the baby is born!”
“What baby?”
Fred was in the doorway with a huge mischevious grin on his face, the type that him and George used to sport.
“How much did you hear?” demanded Ron, who if he turned any redder his blood vessels would explode.
“Enough. Congratulations, little brother and don’t worry I won’t tell anyone. Apart from Alicia.”
Ron groaned. Alicia had the biggest mouth he had ever met. The news would be everywhere before they could turn around.
“OK! Don’t tell Alicia and we’ll announce it at the wedding” said Hermonie determinedly. Ron was still speechless.
“Fine by me” said Fred and then went off whistling.
Harry stifled a laugh at Ron’s face, it was embarrassed, angry, sad, and bizarrely happy. He still didn’t utter a word.
“So.” said Harry jauntily “can I tell Ginny?”
Hermonie nodded “Of course you can.”
Harry grinned and stood up. “Right I’m off. Need to find Ginny and prepare for the meeting tomorrow.” He kissed Hermonie on the cheek and smiled at Ron who was still in the same position he had been in since Fred left the room.
Need feedback!! What do you think?
hprulez January 15th, 2006, 10:44 am The big day was here. Hermonie had left with Ginny and Mrs Weasley to a hotel in the village. The Burrow was in a state already with it being habited by seven men. Fleur had stayed at home. The night before had been a celebration. Everyone had got a bit drunk and started to get maudlin.
Flashback
“Ron…. My baby boy” slurred Mr Weasley with a tear in his eye. “Getting married. Ginny next. No one left.” Percy looked offended; he didn’t have anyone in his life while Charlie was living with his girlfriend, Maria, from Fred and George’s shop. Percy stalked out of the room.
Harry grinned easily feeling pleasantly fuzzy. Thinking soon it would be him and Ginny.
End flashback
Harry’s head still hurt but he didn’t care because he was entitled to wear the Auror Robes that day. He still remembered how nervous he had been on that day with the Minister and how Ginny had calmed him down. She always did.
Flashback
“Harry calm down. You will be fine. Trust me. They are dying for you to join them.”
“But Ginny, I’ve got a criminal record, and they hated me for about two years and I basically told the Minister to push off and never contact me again. They won’t let me on.”
Ginny gave him a look. “They will. Now get downstairs and with Percy before I explode. You better come straight back as well. I want to find out what happened. Now go” she finished kissing him.
After an uneventful Apparition they were at the ministry and Harry felt his nerves multiply a hundred times.
‘Well, bye Harry. Aurors are at the first floor. I need to get to work.” Percy muttered and hurrying away without even a cursory glance back.
Harry got in the lift and waited
“First Floor, Aurors and Magical Control.”
Harry got out along with some memos. He walked along to the head office and knocked and entered.
“Harry! Right on time.” boomed the minister along with a strange man Harry had never seen before who he supposed was the Head of Aurors. He shook hands with both men.
“Well Harry.” Scrigmouer seemed to be conducting the interview. “We would love for you to come work with us. It would really give the community a boost. Normally there are training programmes and exams and such but in this extra ordinary case I don’t think that is necessary do you? You trained hard for your battle with ” even when Voldemort was dead he seemed not to be able to say his name “You-Know-Who. You are just going to be with some Aurors for a while, learning from them. Just until they judge you able to be out on your own. Firstly you will be with Kingsley Shacklebolt. Now enough about work. How is your family situation? Living arrangements? Do you need lodgings?”
Harry cleared his throat. “Um, No I don’t need lodgings, I’m living at the Burrow with the Weasleys and my fiancé.” It felt odd to be calling Ginny that.
The minister seemed very interested in that. “Oh? Who is your fiancé? Congratulations are in order then. Isn’t one of them getting married soon? I think my secretary is a Weasley and he mentioned that. Percy I think his name is.”
Harry stifled a laugh at what Percy was. He said he had a high-powered job in the Minister’s office. “Yes, Ron and Hermonie are getting married next week and my fiancé is Ginny. Percy’s sister.”
“Oh. Well. You can start in three weeks today. 150 galleons a week sound suitable? If you don’t mind Harry.”
Harry left the office grinning. He was an Auror. Scrigmouer leaned out of the office. “Oh and Harry if you pick up some robes you won’t mind if you wear at the wedding will you? It’s like the Army you are representing the Aurors. Thanks”
Harry’s grin grew wider.
End flashback.
He walked into Ron and Hermonie’s room. Ron was in dress robes.
“Harry why did I do this? I must have been stupid. Hermonie deserves someone better. Her and the baby should leave me.”
Harry knew if he didn’t calm Ron down he might call of the wedding.
“Mate you love Hermonie and she loves you. And soon you two are going to have a baby. That’s why you’re getting married.”
Ron smiled nervously. “Your right. Thanks Harry.”
Harry grinned back. “Come on. It’s time.” They walked down the stairs where Mr Weasley, Bill, Charlie, Percy and Fred were waiting.
“Oh son, I can’t believe your getting married.”
“Ready?”
Ron grinned at all of them and nodded. Without another word they all left The Burrow and walked down the long path and into the chapel.
Harry and Ron took their places at the front of the altar and the rest sat down on the Weasley side. Harry had the ring. Nothing was to go wrong.
The organ started. Everyone stood. Hermonie walked own the aisle with her train billowing behind her but she looked serene. Ginny walked behind her trying to control it. Hermonie reached the altar and kissed her father. The service started. Just as they got to “I do’s” the chapel doors burst open. Several figures in black hooded robes strolled in blasting Avada Kedvara spells as they went. Ron pulled Hermonie behind him. Harry searched the room for Ginny; she already had her wand out. Harry followed her example trying to stun the killers but they dived under Invisibility Cloaks and carried on the massacre. All Harry could hear was screams. He was shooting blind now and several of the congregation was stunned. It was hard to tell between the dead and the Stunned. Then as suddenly as it had started it stopped. The room had fallen silent. Harry could hear the swish of cloaks and then the chapel door slammed. Harry could sense they had gone. He surveyed the room trying to find the living and the stunned. Mrs Weasley lay sobbing over Mr Weasley’s body. Charlie lay on the floor but Harry shot an Enverate charm at him and he blearily opened his eyes. Harry turned behind him the priest lay in surprise, certainly dead. Hermonie clutched Ron in her arms, both of them sobbing, Harry still couldn’t find Ginny. In panic now he got on his hands and knees searching for her. He found her. Propped against a pew, badly injured but alive. Harry breathed a sigh of relief and then tried to tend to her injuries. He shuddered, he had nearly lost her. Healers, apparated into the room and went around. He stood back, her blood on his hands to let them through.
“What relation are you to this girl Harry?” asked one of the Healers.
“We’re engaged.” He replied now in shock.
“Ok well, you can come see her later. Right now we need to get her sorted.”
With that he conjured a stretcher and both of them disappeared. Harry finally began to cry. Ginny was injured, Mr Weasley dead, Ron and Hermonie’s wedding ruined. Twenty-three people had died that day. He, as a Auror would have to find the killers. He promised to the people who died, he would find their killers and they would rot in Azakaban for the rest of their lives.
hprulez January 16th, 2006, 7:18 pm The next day he, along with the rest of the Weasley’s apart from Percy and Mrs Weasley went to visit Ginny in hospital. When he gave her name in at the front desk, and what relation he was to her, the Welcome Witch told him the Healer wanted to talk to him. Nodding they went up to the fourth floor. As he entered, the Healer pulled him outside while the rest was greeting Ginny.
“Harry” she smiled, shaking his hand “great to meet you.” Then her face turned serious. “Ginny might not make it. And if she does, she is going to need constant care. We noticed the ring on her finger. Is it you?”
Once again he nodded, dumbstruck.
“We have a chapel, would you like to use it?”
Harry found his voice. He was about to refuse but then a thought struck him. Mrs Weasley needed something to take her mind of arranging Mr Weasley’s funeral. The whole family did. And when he and Ginny died he wanted it to be as man and wife.
“I’ll have to ask Ginny,” he croaked. The Healer nodded, her expression sympathetic. Harry wondered how many times she had done this, how many times she had comforted grieving family?
He entered the ward and walked to Ginny’s bed. The others understood when he asked for a minute alone and filed out of the ward, Ron and Hermonie’s arms entwined.
“Ginny..”
She smiled a weak smile. “The healer spoke to you then? It was my idea. You’re a Auror now anyway.”
Harry nodded. With a silent exchange going on Harry rose and said, “I’ll make the arrangements.” Kissing her on the forehead the left. Catching up with the Auror Harry was breathless and couldn’t speak. Finally understanding him the Auror smiled an agreed. “The chapel’s free this afternoon?”
Harry didn’t need to think. “Yes. Thank you.” He apparated back to the Burrow to tell Mrs Weasley and his and Ginny’s friends that they would like there. Like a bolt of lightening he remembered two of them had been killed at the chapel the day before. He decided he wouldn’t put any more lives at stake and invite just family. Two hours later everyone was dressed and ready. Mrs Weasley had brought her own wedding dress for Ginny, after magically altering it so it was longer and slimmer. Fred and Alicia brought the drink for the after party and Hermonie had decorated the chapel and ward. Harry was in a morning suit like Ron was the day before. Harry was once again in front of the altar but this time as the Groom. The organ started and Ginny tentatively walked down the aisle supported by Bill with a single tear running down her face. All through the service Harry was on edge, almost waiting for the masked murderers to come and massacre the congregation again. They didn’t and Harry stifled a tear when the minister pronounced them man and wife. He was home. Ginny was very pale and was whisked back to the ward where the Weasleys, Hermonie and Harry followed, Fleur taking longer than the rest wincing in pain.
The party afterwards was spectacular, the drink flowing and Ginny joining in with the laughter and singing. Percy left after the service, muttering about work. A rather drunk Ron stood up two hours in, with a drink of Firewhisky in his hand.
“To my baby sister and Harry. Now we have a announcement to make, Me an Her-He-Hermonie! We’re going to have a baby! And also to absent friends” his voice turning silent “Dad, Sirius, The Potters, Dumbledore and everyone else that died yesterday. We miss them.” Everyone ha tears in the eyes until Fleur squealed.
“Hermonie! We are going to have to talk about babies names.” Her English flowed off her tongue by now. She looked delighted. Someone to share her baby worries with. Smiling Ginny fell back on her pillows. Her colour having receded even more. She beckoned to Harry.
“Harry….”it was draining her enormous effort to talk, she had always been a fighter. “Bury me at Hogwarts.” Harry’s unleashed tears flowed down his cheeks by that point as he nodded and realised it was useless to protest.
Ginny slipped into a coma and never spoke again. Everyone gathered around her bed, the party disappeared, kissing her and saying goodbye. Harry held her hand fiercely and she responded. Her grip slackened and he held her. Whispering in er ear
“It’s alright. Go. You don’t need to fight any longer. I love you.”
She seemed to re awake for a second to smile her beautiful smile and then closed and undramtiacally ceased to breathe, her long flowing red hair sprawled over the snow-white pillow. Harry stared at the ceiling and could have sworn he saw her, bathed in a heavenly glow rise above the ceiling.
:upset: :upset: *wiping eyes with a tissue* I'm sorry. You are all going to hate me know aren't you? I had to. I'm sorry. I feel drained. Poor ginny. hprulez January 30th, 2006, 8:59 pm Harry dropped his head over Ginny. The whole family sobbed as one. Ginny’s rings still glinted, her hand still warm. He felt like part of his life had ended with Ginny’s. The healer’s gave them a few minutes and then talking in hushed whispers told them they needed to leave while Ginny’s body was laid out and they talked to Harry. Harry hardly heard this as he stared at his beloved wife of a few hours. At least, he thought he had been able to give her that last comfort. He slowly became aware that the healer, who had told him hours before that he must prepare himself, was gently trying to prise him away. He let go of Ginny for the final time, and said his silent goodbye. He was ushered into a small cramped office, the healer bit her lip. She never knew how to do this.
“Harry, we need to know what you want with Ginny’s body. Normally we would ask her parents, but once you got married, immediately you became her next of kin.” Harry could hardly take this in. He wished Hermonie was there, she was practical like that.
“Um, I guess I want her brought home.”
The healer smiled, sweetly and sadly, knowing the press were outside waiting to talk to Harry.
“One last thing. Do you want to use the fire? The press are outside.”
Harry nodded and stepped into the fire felt himself fly back to The Burrow.
They were waiting for him in the kitchen, all crying. Harry felt himself enveloped in dozens of arms, all the tears mixing together and falling softly to the ground.
Hermonie dragged him into the small sitting room. Harry knew she was going to talk about the funeral.
“Did you?”
He nodded. “She’ll be here later.” Hermonie gave a half sob. She told you were she wanted to buried didn’t she?”
Again he nodded “Hogwarts.” Finally he began to sob. “Maybe if I had been able to get her to go back then she wouldn’t of died. It’s all my fault.” He slid to the floor grabbing tightly to her pillow. Hermonie crouched down next to him.
“Harry, you couldn’t. She was happy here. She loved decorating the flat didn’t she? She was glad she was here for the last weeks. That’s what she wanted to do.” Hermonie was crying now as well but Harry realised she was right. The flat he had bought ready for them to move into was the way she wanted, and it would be were he would live, the way they would have lived. With their arms wrapped around each other Harry and Hermonie supported each other back to the kitchen. Mrs Weasley was doing what she always did-making a cup of tea.
They gathered around the table, united by the grief of losing their sister and their father in two terrible days when there was an almighty bang on the front door. The family started. Mrs Weasley went to answer it and scuttled back into the kitchen when she realised what it was. The hospital.
“I can’t do it. I’m sorry I can’t do it” she sobbed, each one-heart wrenching. Harry, Ron, Hermonie, Fleur, Bill and Percy went to the hall and led the undertaker to the parlour. She lay Ginny and Mr Weasley in their coffins and gave them his sympathy. Then he led them back into the hall.
“There’s some people at the bottom of the drive claiming to be your friends. Moony and Tinks I think they said their names were. Should I let them in?” he muttered. The all muttered their relief expressed on their faces. Moment’s later Remus and Tonks burst threw the door almost knocking the undertaker over as he left. Tonks wrapped her arms around them all, while Remus went through to the kitchen, as Mrs Weasley’s sobs could be heard.
Tonks whispered to Harry. “There’s to be a investigation into this. I said you should head it. Do you want to? It’ll be after the funeral.” Then swiftly she added, “Me and Shacklebolt will be there, working under you.” Harry nodded. More than anything he wanted to find Ginny’s killers, and let them suffer the torture of Azakaban.
The really sad parts nearly over. Funeral next :upset: :upset: than Harry goes hunting. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
hprulez January 31st, 2006, 7:34 pm Five days later it was Ginny and Mr Weasley’s funerals, Harry couldn’t believe only a week ago it was Ron and Hermonie’s wedding and everyone was alive and excited. Sombrely they all gathered in the parlour. Everyone left Harry to be alone with Ginny for the last time. Harry kissed her forehead and held her cold limp hand-nothing like what it had been in life. He pulled herself away and kissed her again for the final time. As he walked out Mrs Weasley dragged herself in the room which she had refused to go in for the last five days. Ten minutes later she came out looking calmer than she had since Ron and Hermonie had announced their engagement. The undertaker went in the room and magicked the coffins up and into the Ford Anglia that was waiting- Mrs Weasley had ordered it as a tribute to Mr Weasley. Everyone in the family Apparated to the churchyard in Hogwarts. Professor McGonagoll had no objection to it after 167 students had been buried there after Dumbledore. The sight of two graves standing waiting empty made Harry shudder. One thing that comforted Harry was the crowd of people who were gathered round waiting for Harry and the Weasley’s. They turned round and seeing the Weasley’s, Harry included they started to clap. With a tear running down her face Mrs Weasley led the procession to the graves where the Order of the Phoenix were waiting as mourners. Ginny’s school friends waited behind them, Luna there, standing out in bright pink, Neville at her side. Behind them was nearly the entire Ministry, Aurors as well. Harry saw some of his co-workers, they all liked Mr Weasley. Hermonie saw Luna and gave a suppressed giggle. Harry smiled at her. Trust Luna to cause a stir at a funeral. The undertaker lowered the coffins into the graves. Mrs Weasley and Harry stepped forward. Harry was carrying a letter to her, a teddy bear, a key, and a necklace he bought before she died. Mrs Weasley was carrying batteries, remotes, electric fire instructions, and her engagement ring. In unison they gently lay them on the coffins. The crowd headed back to Hogwarts to drink in their memories. Harry saw his former teachers and they all offered their condolences, Professor Flitwick even more wrinkled and his back was stooped, making him even smaller. Hagrid was blowing his nose noisily on a orange and pink spotted handkerchief, Madame Makzine comforting him. Harry felt a tug on his heart and knew he had to go home, back to his flat to remember. Hermonie nodded at him and Harry Disapprated. He was emotionally and physically drained. He couldn’t wait to start the investigation.
Ok guys I wrote it. Sorry it’s short but I was dead upset writing it so yeah. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
hprulez February 1st, 2006, 9:05 pm For a week Harry stayed around the flat, reliving his memories, drinking, and starting to think about who could have done the heinous thing. His strongest suspicion was the disbanded Death Eaters. (Author’s note I am not going to write about the battle. I will leave that to the talented JK Rowling) He remembered from his hunt for the Horcruxes that he had put a lot of Voldemort supporters away in Azakaban. Then he began to ponder the possibility that it could have been someone against the Weasley family or Hermonie. But who? Ron hadn’t done anything except odd jobs since he had left two years ago and Hermonie had started SPEW. Harry sat bolt upright. That was a possibility, wizards who wanted to keep house elves enslaved. He apparated to the Burrow where he hadn’t been to since the day of the funeral. Mrs Weasley looked up at him.
“Harry! My dear boy!!! How are you? Have a drink!” Mrs Weasley slurred as she sipped a Firewhisky. Harry was astonished; he had never seen Mrs Weasley drunk. She always seemed totally in control. Is Ron and Hermonie here?”
Mrs Weasley’s eyes welled up. “NO! You’re just like them! Don’t want me anymore. Not now your father’s dead. Ginny gone. My baby!! Oh Harry” she changed direction completely, seeming now totally sober, “You remember that Bogart at Grimmuald Place? It’s coming true. George. Arthur. Ginny. They all are leaving me Harry. All on my own.” Harry comforted her as she descended into another bout of tears but inside he was furious. How dare Ron treat his mother this way? Why had they left her? Prising her arms away from him he walked around the house, it was now cold and haunted with the ghosts of yesterday. The fireplace, once gleaming was now overrun with dust. As he walked up the stairs he could almost hear Percy telling them off for making too much noise when he wanted to write his report on Cauldron thickness, almost smell Ginny’s sweet floral perfume. Choking back tears, he went into their room. It was untouched, the way Ginny had left it the night before Ron and Hermonie’s wedding, with a note to Harry still on the pillow. Harry smiled ruefully, he had slept on the couch that night, he couldn’t walk up the stairs. Exiting quietly Harry walked into Ron’s room. There was a note on the pillow to also addressed to him. “Odd” he thought. Opening it up he read
“Harry. Well you’re reading this so you’re at the burrow and you’ve spoken to my mother. We know you well enough now to know that you are angry with us. We don’t want to explain in a letter so come to our home. It’s Order headquarters. All our love Hermonie and Ron.”
Harry did what they asked and went to the Order Headquarters. Apprating outside he knocked quietly knowing everyone would hear him. The door was answered by a grinning, willowy blonde Tonks. Seeing Harry’s shock she grinned.
“I know. Different isn’t it? Remus suggested it.” She laughed pushing back her hair with her left hands, the light catching the diamonds in her ring, reflecting them in her wedding band. Pulling him down, Harry didn’t have time to admire the difference in décor. The house elves were gone, as well as Mrs Black’s painting. Harry turned to Tonks with a quizzical look.
She smiled mischievously “We burnt it on the wall. After it was gone it was like a shadow had been lifted from the house. Oh did McGonagoll write to you? Kreacher died. It sounds wrong to say we celebrated but we did. We then painted the whole house and made some changes. You like?”
Harry’s heart lifted. He had forgotten about his treacherous house elf. He knew he should be disgusted with death, but the vile creature had caused Sirius’s death and there was no way he could forgive that.
He nodded “I like!”
Dragging him down to the kitchen Harry could see there was a party going on. His sprits lifted. Bellowing above the din he said “Erm Tonks I don’t want to sound rude but who are these people?” Tonks yelled just as the song ended and everyone turned round. Blushing she continued, “Just some people we know. You know from work and school and the bars and stuff. Some of these were actually at school with Remus! He loves being the centre of attention. The younger members of the Order come too. Most nights we have a get together, not normally this loud, mostly just having drinks and jokes and stuff. Erm Harry hope you don’t mind but some people have moved in. Their in the lounge.” Harry nodded and left leaving Tonks to it. He was happy his house was being used for a good thing finally. Walking through the now airy corridor he came to the lounge. He turned the handle and walked in. He gasped the room for a minute looked like it was on fire. When his eyes adjusted he realised it was most of the Weasley family. Ron, Hermonie, Bill, Fleur, Charlie, Maria, Fred, Alicia and finally looking sour as always Percy. He laughed and hugged them all except Percy. He wasn’t sure if he could forgive him for the things he had said. Then when they handed him a butterbeer, which was all they were drinking except Fleur and Hermonie who had lemonade he asked “So. What’s with your mum?” They all started to speak at once and Harry cringed. They fell silent. Then Fred said
“You Disapprated after the burial mate. We don’t blame you, in fact we wish we had.”
Everyone nodded.
“It was awful,” squeaked the timid Maria
Hermonie took up the story after that. “We went back to Hogwarts for a celebration drink in their memories. After a few hours I wanted to get back so we asked Mrs Weasley if we could go back to The Burrow. By this time she’d had a lot of drinks and was getting more and more aggressive.” Hermonie sighed, “It’s all my fault! Anyway she started yelling at us and everyone was looking, so the family came over to try and calm her down. She screamed at us that she no longer wanted any of us in her house and if we tried to get in she’d call the Ministry. We fled here and that’s were we’ve been ever since.”
Fred grinned. “I love it here. It’s a lot better than when we were kids. I mean now there’s parties every night and its great.” His smile however was strained. “I just wish we knew what to do about Mum. I wish she’d let us in.”
Harry was surprised. “I just apparated straight in there.”
“Yeah, we tried doing that, didn’t work, and she’s took the Fire off the Floo Network.”
“Well anyway I went to see you because I thought of a reason there might be for the murders. Hang on I’ll go get all the Aurors I can find. Be right back” Harry smiled and left the room but inside he was shaking. He couldn’t believe Mrs Weasley did that to her family. Sticking his head in the door he silenced the Music.
“I’m sorry guys. Will all the Aurors and the Order come to the Parlour please. It’s about the murders. Thanks.” As he left he heard the music come back on. He smiled let nothing spoil a party! He re-entered the room followed by Tonks, Kingsley, some Aurors he had glimpsed in the papers and seen briefly on his interview. They were followed by most of the Order.
Harry grinned, he felt almost complete again, after handing round drinks he began.
“Right so here’s what I thought..” And briefed them on the SPEW idea. Nearly breathless he sat back and waited.
With slow nods most of his team agreed. Hermonie looked stunned and upset.
“What? SPEW caused the murders. It IS all my fault!” Ron shushed her and then she quietened down.
“So who would do this?” Asked Bill and from then the meeting carried on long into the night, longer than the party, until people were nearly falling asleep in their chairs. Harry told them to stay here, found them rooms. Everyone had a bedroom apparently but his was the master room. Ron and Hermonie disappeared into the room he and Ron had stayed in, with the picture of Phillnos Black in, Fred and Alicia into the twins room, Bill and Fleur into Sirius’s room, Charlie and Maria into a spare bedroom Harry had never seen before, and Percy grumpily said he slept downstairs. Harry sank into his bed and for the first time in almost two weeks slept a dreamless sleep.
hprulez February 6th, 2006, 9:04 pm When he awoke he smelled bacon, eggs, tomatoes, toast and tea. Dressing quickly he hurried downstairs into the kitchen, where a blearily eyed Tonks and Remus sat yawning, The Weasleys chatting noisily and some people he had never saw before sipping coffee wincing at the noise everyone was making. Tonks saw him and grinned.
“Morning Harry. Meeting went on pretty late huh? We’ve got to go soon. Kingsley’s already there.”
Harry nodded and wolfed down a breakfast that Maria, Charlie’s girlfriend was making with flicks of her wand. According to Charlie she loved domestic tasks. Choking he remembered what Percy did for a living. Calling over the hubbub he addressed the Weasley’s. “Hey. Did Percy tell you what his job was?”
Hermonie looked curious and confused. “Yeah. He said he had a important job in the minister’s office why?”
He stifled a laugh. “Yeah well the minister told me what he was in my interview. He’s the Minister’s secretary!”
Silence reigned in the kitchen for a second as everyone digested the news. Then everyone descended into laughter as they imagined a job perfect for Percy: all he needed to do was be nice to the Minister and do what he told him. Perfect. Wiping her eyes Tonks reminded Harry that they needed to go. Harry agreed and they both Apparated to the Ministry riding up the escalator they arrived. Striding into the Head Auror’s office he shook his hand then stated what he wanted.
“Listen. My wife died in that massacre and I am personally going to find the people behind it. But regretfully I can’t do it alone so I need all the Auror’s you can spare, an big office, with room for meetings and conference’s, all the links with the Media I need and help from every department I deem necessary. Can you do it?”
The Auror seemed stunned than shook his head as if to clear something.
“Harry sit,” he said in a deep booming voice gesturing to the chair behind him. Harry sat unsure of what to do. “I’ve put together a team of my best Auror’s for you to command, and you can take any others off other cases, their all trivial anyway and you can have anything you ask for. But Harry can I ask you a question. Do you know my name?”
Harry sat up ready to speak and words failed him. The Auror chuckled. “I thought so. Rufus does take over somewhat. It’s Smith by the way. Now go. Set up and brief your team.”
Harry left and nearly stood on top of Tonks who was waiting for him, clearly listening. Not abashes she grinned, and said jauntily “Come on, we’ll go find them.”
Leading him down several corridors, they finally came to a large room that had a lot of happy voices coming from it. It read “Staff Room.” Harry laughed as they entered. Feeling nervous he sidled in and all the voices stopped. There was a slight clap until everyone was applauding him. Embarrassed he laughed to cover how emotional he was feeling. When it finally stopped he cleared his voice and read off the list he has been given. Rattling off the famous names he hid his excitement. These were famous Auror’s who had caught many Dark wizards. And he was to lead them. He felt awed. A little voice started in his ear. Ginny’s voice. “They didn’t kill Voldemort though did they Harry?” Finally he finished the list and grinned. “We’ve got a meeting room being set up and I’ll be bringing in some more Auror’s and most of the Order when they have the time. So if you’ll come with me we’ll get started.” Leading his team they began the investigation.
hprulez February 10th, 2006, 10:07 pm The next day he walked into the office and stopped dead. In front of him was a board that had the pictures of the twenty-four victims. Forty-eight eyes stared at him. His heart turned over. The picture of Ginny was one of the both of them. It had been taken right before he had left to go to London. He remembered that day.
Flashback
“Harry stop it!!” Ginny squeaked after Harry had been flicking water all over her. Hermonie lay, basking in the sunshine while Ron swam lengths of the lake. They had been there since Mrs Weasley had suggested it that morning when they looked outside the window at the grim view, rain, rain and more rain with the occasional thunder and lightning.
“Go on dears. Go to the Maldives or something. Harry you can take Ginny along with you, Side-Along-Apparition you know.”
They had readily agreed and after collecting the stuff they would need they apparated, Ginny holding on tightly to Harry. After a long morning they went and conjured lunch, not well as none of them enjoyed domestic spells. After forcing it down they went back to the beach. Only they weren’t alone this time. Harry was startled but amused when the press turned up at the beach. Camera’s flashing they called to Harry.
“Harry! What made you come?”
“Harry! Who’s the pretty girl your with?”
Harry just laughed. “I came because it was so miserable at home! Her name’s Ginny Weasley and she’s my girlfriend!” After the trauma of the last couple of months he could shout it from the rooftops. Then he remembered Hermonie had recently opened SPEW but there wasn’t a lot of members. “And this very talented lady is Hermonie Granger. She recently opened her own charity, SPEW for house elf rights. She helped me with Voldemort you know.” He said in a confidential tone. The reporters turned to Hermonie and started interviewing her, Ron at her side. She had a huge smile knowing this was what was going to launch SPEW. A photographer was still watching Harry and Ginny cuddled up on the sand.
“Come on Harry give us a picture!”
Harry laughed “Alright but only if you take one of me and Ginny and then one of me Ginny Ron and Hermonie.” He called back. “And I suppose you need a picture of SPEW’s founder with her long supporting boyfriend for the paper?”
The photographer agreed grudgingly and after fifteen minutes had what he wanted. Soon after that the press left. For the rest of the day they just sunbathed and played in the water. When they got back that night they were exhausted but glowing and happy. Harry went into Ron’s room and Hermonie into Ginny’s. (This was before Hermonie moved in authors note)
The next day they dressed and met in the kitchen were the post was arriving. Harry had some letters of his old school friends, Hermonie had replies from business companies. Ron had rejection letters from the jobs he had applied for. And of course the Daily Prophet was delivered to all of them. Mrs Weasley shook out the folds and screamed. On the front cover was the group picture of all of them with the headline
“Harry and friends go sunbathing!”
The start of the newspaper was
“Thanks to the miserable weather conditions yesterday Harry Potter “The Boy Who Lived” and his beautiful girlfriend Ginny Weasley went to the Maldives along with friends Ron Weasley-Harry’s best friend and Hermonie Granger who Harry himself told us helped him tremendously with his battle with You-Know-Who. After hours of fun in the sun they relaxed and enjoyed themselves with each other. When night fell the two couples had a sumptuous dinner and then went back home. Ginny Weasley is starting her seventh year at Hogwarts where she is described as model student who is brilliant in every subject. Interestingly Hermonie Granger has started her own charity SPEW for the rights of house elves. We looked into it last night and there are 6 members. Now we ask you as Prophet readers to support this incredible woman’s charity as we owe it to her and it is time house elves have rights! This is a call to arms!”
This was accompanied with all the pictures the photographer had took the day before. Mrs Weasley cut them out and gave them to Harry and Ginny, Ron and Hermonie. Hermonie sat shell-shocked. Then there was a flood of owls through the kitchen window, all carrying letters addressed to SPEW and Hermonie. They all grinned as she burst into tears. Later when she had read them all she walked back into the room grinning.
“Harry! I’ve got over a thousand members already!”
Harry grinned and went back to reading the jobs listed. He circled a few that didn’t really interest him but he could do them.
End Flashback
A tear fell on his shiny black shoes and it wasn’t till then he realised he was crying. Shaking his head as if to shake away his tears, he grinned at his team who had all crowded round him offering words of support. Speaking shakily he said to them “Thanks guys. Now. We need to sort out our roles in the investigation. Tonks you can change your appearance to anything can’t you? Good. Then I want you looking brooding and evil, sort of Bella Lestrange-esque.”
Tonks nodded, thought for a moment and changed her appearance to stout and plump, a veil of long straggly black greasy hair, a turned up piggish nose that Harry had witnessed in Grimmuald Place years ago. She looked overall frightening. The Aurors all involuntarily took a step backwards and then gave an embarrassed laugh when they realised what they done. Harry burst out laughing, they had looked so funny they had all taken the step back in unison like the perfect team they were. They relied on each other knew each other’s weaknesses and strengths. They were a family who had accepted him without a murmur, him leading into the investigation. For the first time since Ginny’s death he felt hope he would find her killers.
hprulez February 11th, 2006, 8:33 pm The next few hours were frantic for Harry. After assigning everyone their tasks he had a lot of paperwork to do which was making his head ache. Just then a memo came whizzing into the office he gladly looked up and read it. It was from Smith.
“Harry. Please come to my office. We need to discuss the supplies.”
Mystified he pushed the paperwork into a drawer and made his way to the Head office. As he entered Smith looked up and smiled.
“Harry my dear boy! Come sit.” Harry sat feeling déjà vu. It was exactly like Dumbledore. He said this to Smith and he laughed. “Yes I suppose I do. He was a great friend and he taught me.” Harry nodded. Smith seemed to think for a moment and then pulled himself together. “Right Harry. I suppose you were getting bored with the paperwork?” he asked with a twinkle in his eyes. “You don’t have to do that you know! That’s the trick they play on all new Auror’s! Anyway. You will need supplies won’t you? Potions, ingredients, robes, spell books, and all sorts. So the department will pay but you need to write it down. Anyway that wasn’t the reason I asked you in here. How are you coping? I heard it was hard for you when you saw Ginny’s photo. Are you sure you can carry on? There’s no shame in backing out you know.” Tears filled Harry’s eyes but he shook his head. “No. It’s the last thing I can do for Ginny and I promised her. I can’t let her down. She was ecstatic when I was made a Auror.”
Smith nodded and then said “Oh one last thing. There’s a trainee Auror joining your team tomorrow. I put her there because I want her to have a lot of experience in a variety of cases.” He shuffled his papers and this seemed to signal the interview was over. Harry walked back into the office and sat down feeling drained. Tonks wandered back into the office looking scary and lost. Harry had to laugh at the expression on her face.
“What’s up Tonks?”
She looked like a toddler who can’t work out why her dolls don’t speak back. “Everyone keeps looking at me and laughing and then when I turn round they run away!”
Harry cleared his throat feeling embarrassed. “Erm…Tonks. You’ve still got your scary person look on. You don’t have to wander round the office like that you know. Just when we know who killed them and need someone to perpetrate them.”
Tonks’s face cleared and she started to laugh at herself. “Ok. Hang on” in a flash she was back to being blonde. Harry giggled and then Ryan Thomas burst into the office breathless. “Harry. We have a prisoner in custody waiting to be interrogated. I said I’d come get you.” He bit his lip. “Harry. It’s your cousin.” Harry was stunned and said the first thing that came into his head. “But he’s a muggle. He couldn’t cast spells!” Tonks gently broke it to him. “Harry. Didn’t you realise there was one who just stood there and watched?” Harry shook his head and then white-hot anger flooded through his veins. Dudley had stood and watched the torturous killings? Because he hated Harry? He stormed out and down into the interrogation room, his anger burned on to his face. He stopped still, amazed by the shocking sight in front of him. He had last saw the Dursley’s two years ago, the day after his birthday when he slammed the door behind, him thinking he would never have to see them again, and was beginning the hunt for Voldemort. Back then Dudley had been morbidly obese and was waiting for a operation to remove his fat. The man sitting in front of him was sleek, tanned and fit. He looked confident as if nothing would happen to them. Harry was still livid and stamped into the room, sat down and smiled through clenched teeth at his cousin.
“Hello Dudley. So you got rid of the puppy fat then?” He said in a mock Aunt Petunia voice.
Dudley grinned. “Yeah. Got myself a wife as well. Mum’s so proud. I heard your little wifey was killed. Whoops! Drop the ball did you Harry? You never could look after anyone.”
Harry controlled himself barely. Just kept thinking like he did when Dudley’s aunt kept visiting. “Just keep thinking of the investigation. It will be cancelled if you do anything.” He forced himself to think.
“Yeah. My wife was killed. And as I am a Auror-oops silly me your too stupid to know what that is aren’t you Dudder’s? It means I’m a detective basically heading up a huge team looking into the murders of twenty four people, my wife being one of them yes. And you know what Dudder’s we all believe you had something to do with it. Didn’t tell Mummy you’ve been playing with the nasty wizards did you? You know what will happen if your found guilty? They’ll kill you. Muggles were involved. So want to tell me what you know. It was someone with a grudge against me and my friends, and you have both don’t you? You hated Hermonie because when she came to the house on my birthday she wouldn’t get off with you. Well guess what. They didn’t kill her. Her and the baby are fine. So tell me what you know, or we’ll bring everyone you know in.”
hprulez February 13th, 2006, 9:14 pm The reply he got of Dudley surprised him. “I don’t know anything! God if I had done it don’t you think I would have made sure I killed you? I wouldn’t have just stood there and waited for wizards to kill you! I would have done it myself! I’m a boxer, as you know! I’ve got the world championships in a month! You really think I would risk that for you? Your not worth my time.” Harry surveyed him for a minute and then stood up. Barking instructions to the officer in charge he said, “He’s right. He’s too dumb to have done this. He’s got a wife. Mind wipe him and get him out of here.” With that he swished from the room. He went back to the office were his whole team had gathered, hopeful expressions on their faces, hoping they had found the evil person who could have ordered twenty four lives to be wiped out. There was a drinks table in the corner waiting to celebrate or commiserate. He gave a sad smile and shook his head. “No” he said in a whisper but everyone heard him. Their faces crumpled and he could see already how much it meant to them to find the killers. For the rest of the day the team stayed in the office talking over various motives. The one most people favoured was Harry’s theory on SPEW. Harry contacted Hermonie asking for details of all her members and her known enemies and the copies of the hate mail she had got from various anonymous opponents of SPEW. The team felt they couldn’t get out today after the disappointment. At five o clock when everyone was supposed to go home Harry decided that he couldn’t let them when they were feeling like this. They were part of his family now and he could feel how frustrated they felt. He invited them back to Grimmuald Place where they could relax, have a drink and generally have a good time. He also decided he would invite the new girl, a sort of way of introducing her to everyone outside of work. He told them, and they were happy to go along. Most of them were in their twenties and thirties and had asked if they could bring their partners along. He agreed and went to Smith’s office to get her name. Sara Willows and Smith was delighted he was getting to know everybody already. He sent a young wizard to get her and in a few minutes she had arrived. She was stunning. She had a pretty heart shaped face, framed by silky soft long brown curls. She was tall, as almost as tall as Harry, and she was wearing a lemon top with a skirt to her knees. She looked fresh and young, like she needed someone to protect her. She saw Harry’s look of surprise and chuckled. “Don’t let the appearance fool you. I don’t need protecting, I can look after myself. I graduated with top marks in the Academy.” As she shook Harry’s hand her grip was firm and warm. “I’m Sara. So. You’re going to be my boss.” Harry grinned at her, he liked her no nonsense attitude. He nodded. “Yeah. Well come on I’ll introduce you to everyone and then we’ll go back to my place.” Leading her back to the office, were everyone had got changed since he left, nit shy, they had been a team to long for that. Everyone looked amazing and totally different. Holding hands so they arrived together, giggling they apparated to Grimmuald Place. The Weasleys looked surprised and then pleased at the arrival of Harry’s co-workers. They went up to get changed while Harry and everyone started the party, feeling better than before. An hour later and the chatter and laughter of everyone filled Grimmuald Place, Harry smiled thinking Sirius would have approved. Harry had been chatting to Sara for the last hour, drinks in hand they talked about everything. They sat in the kitchen, surrounded by dancing and music. Harry had to bellow to make himself heard. “So after she died I wanted to find her killers so here I am.” Sara seemed surprised and then smiled. “I would have been the same. Voldemort killed my mother when I was two. I never got on with my dad. I haven’t seen him since I got into Hogwarts.” Harry felt shocked but could understand. He had hated the Dursley’s. A slow song came on and Sara pulled him up. “Come on Harry! I love this song! It doesn’t mean anything!” He thought about it and realised Ginny would not have wanted him to sit at home and do nothing. He agreed and soon they were waltzing round the room to The Weird Sister’s only slow song. He looked down at her, as she rested on his shoulder and realised in that moment he was falling in love with her. As he felt this he felt so guilty he jerked himself away from her and stormed out of the kitchen leaving her standing in the middle alone looking sad, hurt and confused. He ran to his room, his bed feeling cold. He flung himself on it and buried his face in the pillow. A moment later Tonks, Hermonie, Alicia, and some of his female team raced into his room all talking loudly at once. Harry screwed his eyes up and sat up. Holding his hand up he had to yell to be heard “All right! All right! One at a time. What?”
Hermonie looked like an indignant whale. “Harry! Why did you leave Sara like that? You were getting on fine and then you take off like a rabbit down a hole leaving her humiliated in front of her workmates!” Tonks nodded while Alicia looked like she was about to pop. Harry sighed and sank back onto his pillows. “Hermonie I left her because I’m falling in love with her and I can’t do that to Ginny! She’s been dead two months and I’m going out with another girl? No. No way.” Everyone just went “Oh!” and sank down onto the bed. Harry suddenly found himself surrounded by girls. Feeling alarmed he ducked under the covers. They all giggled and called to him. “Come on Harry come on out!” After five minutes Hermonie finally threatened, “Harry if you don’t come out I will personally go and get Fleur and we will both sit on you. I know she weighs less then me” This had been a sore point with Hermonie, Fleur was almost seven months and only began to show now while Hermonie was six and already looked like she was about to give birth. “But that doesn’t matter. She is pregnant and we will sit on you.” Harry laughed and finally agreed to come out. When he did he found they were all waiting for him looking amused and pleased. Pleased that he had found someone else? “Harry if you had died would you have wanted Ginny to sit around moping and being denied her second chance of love and happiness?” asked Melissa one of the top Aurors in the country. He shook his head. Hermonie took over. “Harry this is your chance. Go for it. You may never get another.” He thought about it for a long moment and nodded. He was getting up from the bed when screams erupted from downstairs.
hprulez February 18th, 2006, 3:32 pm Everyone instantly leaped up from the bed; Tonks, Melissa and the rest of the team already had their wands at the ready. Apprating downstairs, they found black hooded thugs had broken up the party again. The male section of the Aurors had been fighting them up till now, several were stunned. There was still over ten left shooting silent spells out of their wands. Harry and the rest of the team joined the battle without a thought. He saw Ron and the rest of the order were also involved. The hooded assassins realised it was a lost battle and Disapprated taking most of their wounded with them. Harry scanned the room looking for fatalities and injured but found none. As he scanned the room he found a Stunned assassin. He found Sara was already there Enverating him. Rushing over they crouched over his body and he smiled at her. She turned away clearly still hurt. He grimaced. He was never good at this part. “Sara. Listen the reason I left you was I thought I was disloyal to Ginny. But now I realise she is happy for me.” Grabbing her hand he pulled her round to face him. “Sara, the one thing I learnt from Ginny’s death was you’ve got to seize the moment.” He cleared his throat embarrassed “What I’m trying to say is that I think I’m falling in love with you. Will you go out with me sometime, maybe?” Sara grinned and hugged him, nodded and then turned back to the suspect. He was beginning to stir. With her help Harry lifted him up and pulled his hood off. The whole room gasped, they had gathered round to watch. It was Draco Malfoy. The last anyone had seen of him he was fleeing from Hogwarts with Snape. Harry’s old feelings of loathing were re-awakened and without warning he punched Draco. The other Aurors pulled him off as Draco awoke. Spluttering she sat up ready to defend himself and then saw every wand in the room was drawn on him. Realising where he was and who he was with he lay down again moaning. Harry remembered his last moments with Dumbledore before Snape had killed him. He remembered that Draco had been told that his mother would be killed if he didn’t do as he was told. He felt pity for him, as he knew what it was like to lose someone, and Lucius had been publicly killed after Draco’s failure. Then he remembered that Voldemort was no longer a threat. Harry himself had killed him. So who was Draco working for and more importantly did he know anything? All the Aurors had a field kit that they were obliged to carry everywhere. In it was Vertueuism. Melissa handed it to him silently. Draco saw what was coming. His eyes widened in fear and he started to scream and struggle. “No!!! Not that! Anything but that my lord!” Harry stopped. The only person anyone had ever called My Lord was Voldemort. He stopped, and bent closer to peer in Draco’s eyes. He could tell he had been tortured into madness then put under the Imperius Curse. He shivered. He remembered similar cries from his own friends. Friends he had been forced to watch die.
Flashback
“Harry help me!”
“Harry!”
End Flashback
Harry still woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, with their death cries in his ears. Standing. He shook his head. “The attackers knew what they were doing. Draco doesn’t know what day it is never mind what he’s done. He needs taking to St Mungo’s.” Taking Sara by the hand they walked outside and he heard again the clink of drinks and the music back on.
Sorry guys I'm starting to get writer's block.
hprulez March 10th, 2006, 8:52 pm Two weeks later Harry had the results of Draco’s psychological exam. The Healer bluntly told him that he had been put under the Crutciao Curse so many times his mind was gone though he retained memories of a church with people screaming. Harry knew deep within his soul he was one of the assassins at Ron and Hermonie’s wedding. Harry could only imagine the pain Draco must have been in. He must have carried on too as only strong people survived the torture. Harry knew of one person who could do this and he felt sick that Bellatrix Lestrange could put her nephew through such pain. He had always felt enraged that the person who killed Sirius had never been caught. Grimly he put out the word that every available wizard and witch was to join the search for Bellatrix. He knew that when he found her he would find the rest of Ginny’s killers. He was to file a report on whether he thought Draco should go to trial. Personally he realised why Draco was going to kill Dumbledore and then he felt distraught that someone Draco was supposed to be able to trust had made him mad, and then made him the scapegoat for their heinous crimes. He wrote in his report what he thought and it was generally decided he wouldn’t go to court. He would stay forever in the care of St Mungo’s. Pushing thoughts of Draco away from him he thought of Sara. She had moved in at Grimmuald Place, both her and Harry knowing you had to seize the day. Carpe Diem. Harry remembered Dumbledore saying that to him once. He loved every second of being with Sara but sometimes he felt scared that she too would be snatched away. This was generally when he just woke up from his nightmares and it seemed like he was the only person on the earth. Sighing he threw his quill onto the desk and went home. It was nearly the end of the day anyway and he knew his team, who more and more were becoming part of his family would understand. He apparated to Grimmauld Place, feeling miserable. He went down to the kitchen where Maria was always waiting for someone to feed or listen to your problems. Seeing Harry she grinned and conjured some chicken soup crusty bread. Putting them on the table she then went to the cupboard and took a bottle of Butterbeer out and set that on the table too. Harry sat in his chair heavily and pulling the bowl towards him began to eat. Maria waited until he was half way through his soup until she asked him. “Harry. You miserable no? You tell Maria why?” She was Italian and had brown flawless skin, deep chocolate brown eyes, sparkling black hair and she was elegantly tall and slim. Harry sighed again and nodded. “I just feel so useless Maria. The biggest lead we had was Malfoy and he can’t remember a thing, he’s insane. The killers are long gone and Smith is starting to talk about shutting the operation down. He says unless I get results in a month then he will be forced to close the investigation as it is costing the ministry too much money. I’ve got to catch Ginny’s killers Maria! I promised!” Maria stared at him and then smiled.
“Harry. It no matter if Ministry close investigation. We have Order. Order will carry on with looking for Killers.”
Harry’s spirit rose. He had forgotten about the order. With Moody in charge it wouldn’t be hard to get his approval. He felt spirit rise through his veins.
Two weeks later.
Harry came rushing into St Mungo’s holding awkwardly a bunch of rather squashed lilies. He went straight up into the lift and found Ward three: Births. Nearly running into the ward he looked around crazed for a moment until he found them. All his tensions and problems melted away momentarily as he saw the sight of a new family enveloped in love. Hermonie clutched her new baby daughter while Ron had his arms around her and gazed at his baby in almost alarm, pride and he looked sheepish as well. Harry strided to the bed, kissed Hermonie on the cheek, slapped Ron on the back and then looked at a loss at what to do with the baby. Hermonie and Ron both laughed at his expression. Harry sat down and Hermonie passed her daughter to him. He held her like a football until Ron adjusted her. They both glanced worriedly at each other and Harry noticed.
“What? Am I that bad at babies and stuff?” They all laughed. It was Hermonie who answered. “no Harry although I did get a tiny bit worried but I am not going to become a obsessive mother!” She said this almost with a touch of defiance almost and then realised she had been about to say something. She shook her head and then continued. “Anyway we just wanted to know if you were ok about the name we want to give her but we won’t if aren’t ok.” She said the last part of the sentence all in one breath. Harry grinned. “Of course I will be why wouldn’t I be? What is it?”
It was Ron that answered. Taking a deep breath he said, “Molly Virginia Weasley” Harry felt a lump in his throat and nodded, not trusting himself to speak. He looked at the new addition to his family, a new life just beginning, mistakes yet to be made, loves still to find and he burst into tears.

hprulez April 25th, 2006, 8:34 pm Three days later Hermonie and Molly had been home from hospital a day and a night when everyone came round to look at the new addition to the family. For once there was no loud music, just soft gentle music so that Molly wouldn’t wake up. Everyone just gathered round Hermonie and the sleeping Molly, elbowing each other out of the way and fighting over who was going to hold her next. Harry kept laughing, they made such a comical picture; you would have thought they had never seen a baby before. Molly was the first baby born in their family. For that’s what they all thought of each other. Between them there was terrible stories, families hating each other, families destroyed by Voldemort and many horrifying stories. They all relied on each other and they all knew they could talk to anyone of them about their problems. Sara saw him and got up from her seat and materialised at his side. Slipping her hand into the crook of his arm she grinned, “ Feeling broody?” Harry laughed. She was very drunk. She kept sipping at a pink cocktail that never seemed to empty. He laughed at her again and took a glance around his crowded kitchen. Tonks and Lupin swayed together, both nearly paralytic but extremely happy. She was a short, curvy petite with jet-black hair today. The Weasley’s sat around the table with Ron and Hermonie, bickering and exchanging good-natured insults. The only sadness over tonight was that Mrs Weasley was not here to see her first grandchild who was named after her and her only daughter. Harry had had an Auror put on a watch over her house to see how her welfare was. She had reported that Mrs Weasley never went out now except to buy alcohol and when she was seen she looked dirty and dishevelled. This had almost made Harry weep when he thought of the woman who had been like a mother to him and who had lost so many members of her family and could no longer cope with the amount of pain she was going through. Hermonie announced it was time to put Molly to bed and everyone respectfully moved away from the table to give her room to move. As soon as she came back she had a huge grin on her face. “She’s in her room and she won’t wake up. I put a charm on the door.” A huge cheer went up. As much as they loved Molly they couldn’t be expected to miss their party! Hermonie grabbed a Gillywater and pulled Ron up from his seat and up onto the floor as the music started. Within seconds the kitchen was full of dancing couples. The party continued long through the night and into the early morning, Ron and Hermonie partying as hard as everyone else. Everyone ended up sleeping over. When the bedrooms ran out people camped out in the dining room and living room and anywhere was there was a space. Maria looked delighted, so many people to look after! She adored Molly and had often gone into her room to check on her through the night.
The next morning Harry awoke with a huge headache and ringing in his ears. He grinned it had been the best party yet since he had moved in. Yawning he stretched and went downstairs where he was met by many people nursing huge hangovers. The all gave him sleepy grins and then winced almost in unison. Sara had declared to him through the pillow she put over her head that she wasn’t getting up at all. Ron stumbled into the room minutes after Harry with a painful expression on his face, his hair tousled and looking exhausted. Seeing everyone he tried to smile and gave it up as an impossible task. In complete contrast Hermonie walked in with a huge smile on her face, dressed immaculately with a slumbering Molly in her arms. Everyone straightened up at the sight of her. Molly was everyone’s little darling and they would do anything for a two-minute cuddle with her. Already they knew Hermonie wouldn’t let Molly anywhere near them if they appeared hung over. Hermonie giggled. “Guys. I know you’ve all got hangovers. If you think Ron is bad now you should have seen him this morning.” Everyone laughed. Ron was a lightweight when it came to drink and his hangovers were legendary. Fred walked in with Alicia both grinning like Cheshire cats, Tonks and Lupin behind them sporting identical cheesy smiles, Charlie and Maria behind them both of them also smiling. Harry and Ron and Hermonie all exchanged suspicious looks. The three couples cleared away from the door and a scruffy Mrs Weasley walked in looking awkward and uneasy. Harry, Ron and Hermonie all squealed like children and leaped for Mrs Weasley. She was nearly knocked over as they all tried to hug her at once. Mrs Weasley tried to wrap her arms round all of them. The gathered friends smiled without really understanding what was happening. Mrs Weasley laughed. Taking in all of the strange people gathered round the kitchen table she smiled. “A party last night? Never mind dears you’ll all soon feel better. Well after you’ve had my fry-up anyway.” A cheer went up around the room. Smiling she saw Molly for the first time.
“So this is my grandchild is it? Thought you looked different dear. What’s she called then?” All of the Weasleys exchanged looks then. This wasn’t like Molly at all. At some times she seemed totally back to normal but at others she was vague and almost Professor Trewnaley like. Shaking his head Lupin seemed to tell them not to question it. By this time Molly had rolled her sleeves up and already had pans on the stove that had been scrubbed without mercy. Maria snorted. She liked Mrs Weasley but did not like the idea of someone taking over her kitchen and changing the way she operated. Without a word the Weasley clan and Harry, Hermonie and Molly tiptoed to the parlour, where so many meetings and conferences had taken place. Lupin and Tonks joined them a minute later. Fred, serious for once started talking. “Me and Alicia decided to call at the Burrow to see if there was anything she needed.” Harry began to object but Fred raised a hand to silence him. “I know Harry has a couple of Aurors watching her but it’s not the same. When we got there she let us in. She was sober. The Burrow looked tidier but bare and empty. She had packed everything like she was waiting for us. When we asked what she needed she told us that she needed her family. The only thing we could do was bring her here.” Lupin cleared his throat. “I’ve contacted Bill and Fleur. They’re on the way here. I suggest we don’t say anything more until they get here.” They all agreed and talk went to the party but all thought was on the woman who was in the kitchen preparing food for anyone. The woman who had been a mother to all of them. Bill and a drawn Fleur entered the room after saying an emotional hello to Mrs Weasley. Fleur flopped onto the sofa exhausted by the short journey. Their home was two streets away from Grimmauld Place. Charlie greeted his brother with a hug and then his face grew serious. “Bill. I guess you noticed the difference in mum?” Bill nodded gravely.
“I think she has finally cracked. The drinking could have only made it worse. Who can blame her? She’s lost George, Dad, Ginny and loads of her closest friends. I know we’ve been through the same but we’re younger and we’ve got our entire lives in front of us. Mum.” He bit his lip “ Well the family was her life and it’s been destroyed. Percy wouldn’t speak to us for years and when he did it’s never been the same. She lost her only daughter hours after her wedding.” Harry flinched at that. Not taking notice Bill continued. “At her son’s wedding she lost her husband. She lost her other son after a mammoth row with him. The drink just dulled the pain for a while until her mind was ready to face up to it. When she did she snapped.” There was a silence as everyone digested that. They all agreed. There was one remaining question. Harry ventured it. “So what do we do?” Again an awkward silence fell. Lupin tactfully came up with the answer. “Nothing. We do nothing. This is going to sound really hard but I don’t think she will last for much longer. Her heart has been broken. No-one can last for very long with a broken heart.” Everyone looked grief stricken at losing the woman they all loved. Deciding to spend the time they have left with Mrs Weasley wisely they all went back into the kitchen where Mrs Weasley was already a hit with everyone. They were all tucking into fried breakfasts with gusto, their hangovers miraculously cured. Seeing Harry and the others Mrs Weasley cooked them a fried breakfast in a flash. Maria frowned. The others seemed to like Mrs Weasley’s cooking better than hers. An hour later everyone was dressed and waiting to go into work. Harry, Tonks, Melissa, Sara and the rest of the team Apparated into work. Opening the team room everyone flopped onto seats. Smith poked his head into the room and asked to see Harry in his office. Dreading what he knew was coming Harry followed Smith into his office and sat down in the chair he had sat in at his interview. That seemed so far away now. Smith sighed and sat behind his desk. Again Harry was reminded of Professor Dumbledore. Sighing again Smith began to speak. “Harry.” He paused looking for the right words. “Harry I want you to know this isn’t my decision. If I had my way this wouldn’t be happening.” He himself looked close to tears. “The minister has ordered me to close the investigation. I’m so sorry Harry. I wish there was some way that we could continue.” He stopped slightly out of breath waiting for a response from Harry. When there wasn’t one he added as an afterthought. ‘I know it is before the deadline but the budget cuts are more severe then I thought.” Harry sat shocked until he could think of a question. “What…what will happen with the team?” Smith looked troubled. “It will be disbanded and the members will be put onto individual investigations. I’m sorry. I know you’ve all grew close. More close than I’ve ever seen a team get before.” Harry nodded and walked back to the room. As he walked back in all chatter stopped. Twenty expectant faces stared up at him. He felt tears welling in his eyes and fought them. He choked the words “They’re closing the investigation.” Everyone instantly gathered around Harry. They all knew how much it had meant to Harry. Over the last few weeks they had all wanted justice as much as Harry did. The expression on everyone’s face was disappointment. Then Tonks asked “What about us?” Harry just shook his head. A few people broke down. They had come to rely on each other and become used to working in a big team for a worthy cause. Harry told them how much he wanted to work with them again but he would leave the paperwork to them, as he had to go home and take a long walk. They all nodded and parted to let him go. Sara gave him a hug before he left. He walked down to the Leaky Cauldron. He ordered a Butterbeer and sat morosely drinking it. He drained it and saying a muttered goodbye to Tom he walked out. He finally began to cry. All he could think was how much he wanted to see Ginny. Without knowing it he Apparated to Hogwarts graveyard. He noticed where he was and hurried to Ginny’s grave. Sitting next to it a feeling of peace came over him. He sat and talked to Ginny for hours, until dark fell across the graveyard casting shadows over the gravestones, he apologised to her for letting her down as he saw it. He finally picked himself up and Apparated home. He called the Order into the parlour and told them his decision. “I know all of you would help me find Ginny’s killers but I have decided not to. I need to put her to rest. I know she’s happy with my decision” There was stunned silence when Harry was thrown backwards and pinned against the wall. To his surprise his assailant was Ron. “YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST FORGET MY SISTER? HUH? YOU THINK JUST BECAUSE YOU’VE FOUND SOME SLUT FROM WORK YOU DON’T HAVE TO BOTHER ANYMORE? WELL YOU CAN’T!!! I WON’T LET YOU!!! YOU ARE GOING TO CARRY ON UNTIL YOU FIND HER KILLERS AND THEY HAVE BEEN LOCKED AWAY!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?? I HOPE YOU DO.” Bill and Charlie pulled Ron back from Harry. Hermonie started yelling at him, furious. “What do you think you are doing huh? Harry was Ginny’s husband he loved her beyond anything and still loves her!! It is his decision and if he is happy with it then I think so should you be!! God I dread the time when Molly is a teenager.” Everyone burst into nervous laughter. Ron turned bright red and mumbled to Harry “No hard feelings mate?” Harry agreed. Everyone went from the parlour into the kitchen, which for once was empty except from Mrs Weasley. Seeing them she jumped up to prepare dinner when Maria growled. ‘No. I make dinner yes? I have been since I arrived no? You not take over my kitchen.” With that she fiercely began to prepare food. Charlie began to laugh and planted a huge kiss on Maria’s forehead. Molly looked confused and then sat down wearily at the table. The others seeing there was some family business going on Disapprated promising to see them tomorrow.
Two weeks later.
Harry looked at his watch and groaned. It felt like it was two minutes since he had fallen asleep. He had been up until about 3’o’clock the previous night working on details on his new investigation. He walked into the kitchen and blinked confusedly at it. It was empty. It hadn’t been empty since he moved in. There was always someone there. His first thought was disgruntled Death Eaters. Pulling his wand from his back pocket he charged into all the rooms, ready for an attack. When he had been into every room and there was none he went back and searched for a note. He found one in the parlour. It said
“Harry. We know you well enough to know you have probably charged through the house with your wand drawn.” Here Harry smiled. It continued. “It’s just like you. Anyway. We are all at the hospital. Fleur has gone into labour. Join us as soon as you get this. P.S next time look for a note first.” Harry got dressed and Apparated to St Mungo’s. Once he was there he hurried to the women’s ward. There he saw the entire Weasley clan with their partners surrounding one bed. He hurried there where he was greeted with smiles. Fleur was sitting in her bed, tears running down her face, looking at her baby with distaste. Harry’s heart quickened. He asked what was wrong. Bill replied, “ She’s a squib Harry.” Unlike Fleur he looked happy and proud at becoming a father. Harry still didn’t see what was wrong. “So? She can still live a life in the wizarding world. Nothing has to change.” Fleur cut in angrily. “I don’t want my daughter ending up like dat Filch person. With my and Bill’s abilities she should be a fine witch! Now she is like a Muggle!!” Hermonie stiffened. When Fleur was angry some of her French accent still crept in. Ron put a soothing arm around Hermonie to stop her launching into an attack. Harry decided to leave and Hermonie came with him leaving the Weasley’s with Fleur trying to explain that Squibs weren’t bad people. Hermonie was furious. “How dare she!” Harry tried to calm her down.
“I know Hermonie but she is upset. She’s probably dreamed her entire life of having a clever beautiful daughter. Like you.” He whispered softly. Hermonie took in a deep breath and turned to Harry, “Harry…”but it was too late Harry had moved on. “And anyway what does it matter? It’s only Phlegm after all” referring back to the childish nickname they had given Fleur in 6th year. Hermonie grinned. “Yeah. Guess you’re right. You want to go home?” Harry nodded.
“I left Sara there. I told her to come but she feels awkward.” Hermonie nodded. She could guess why. Harry changed the subject again. “So. What have they called her?” Hermonie grunted, it seemed she did not approve of the name. “Gaiane. It’s French apparently.” Harry tried it out.
“Gaiane. I like it. It’s different, unusual. Like us” he grinned. Hermonie smiled. Without another word they went home. When they got there Sara was waiting anxiously for news about the new baby. “Well?” she asked.
Harry gave a weary smile hugged Sara and then said ‘She’s lovely. Her name’s Gaiane but she’s a Squib.” Sara’s face fell and then she smiled.
“So? She’ll still be part of the magical community and she is still a normal child!” She said. Harry nodded. “But try telling that to Fleur. She’s distraught. She can’t believe that she has a different child to everyone else. Like Molly for instance. She’s always been jealous of Hermonie and now Hermonie has a child who has more magical ability in her little finger than poor Gaiane has in her whole body.” Sara nodded at that.
Two days later Fleur came home and later that night everyone gathered to see Gaiane but unlike the party of two weeks earlier for Molly this was a sombre occasion everyone knowing the mother’s feelings on her daughter. Indeed it was Bill not Fleur holding the baby and it was him that looked delighted at being a father for the first time. Everyone someone complimented her he beamed with pride. Harry felt contented for the first time in weeks and looked around the room at his family, and sighed. In the future there would be troubles, arguments and many tears but he knew they would be resolved with the love and understanding that was felt by everyone. He looked at Gaiane and sighed. The poor baby would have to face amnosity by lots of people including her own mother with only her father to hold her when she cried and make her giggle. He swore a silent oath that he and Sara would always be there for her if she needed them. Mrs Weasley was looking around the room with confusion but she looked happy. But how long would they have her? Harry wondered. But right now with his arm round Sara, a Butterbeer in his hand and his friends and family around him he felt at peace with himself.
