High School Musical 1 and 2

Well everyone on the Disney Channel thread was going on & on about High School Musical....so my idea was to start a thread about it! Enjoy.

I loved it it was the best movie

It was a pretty good movie. I think its the best Disney Channel movie so far.

Yay! Tomorrow night, Disney Channel. It's on again! I celebrate it everytime, watch it everytime even though I have it on tape(twice) & own the st; it never fails to excite me. I'm such a nerd....lol. And, the Suite Life of Zach & Cody with Zac Efron in it was on today & I watched it too(even though I have that on tape as well).

My friend is obsessed, I mean obsessed with this movie. Everyday at school she's always singing "Breaking Free". I haven't seen it yet, but she says it's good so I plan to see it sometime soon.

I saw most of it, but not the first 15 minutes. It was very good for a disney channel origional movie.

It's definitely one of Disney Channel's best movies. It has good actors and nice songs too.It's just a really cute movie. I even downloaded some of the songs. :)

The movie was ok. It had some good songs. But RENT will always be my favorite musical!

i love love love love loved high school musical!!! i have the soundtrack too i listen to it almost every day hehe. the only part i didn't like was where troy and gabriella see each other at school and they're like "I can't" "believe it" "me" "either" or whatever that part was just a little weird...and also I want a guy like troy!!!!!!!

I saw it, & then next time I went into my school cafeteria I felt like jumping on a table & singing "Status Quoe". And when I went to the gym I felt like singing "We're all in this Together". And in my auditorium, "Breaking Free", "Bop to the Top", & "What I've been looking for". =D

I thought it was really good, one of the better Disney channel movies in a long time. I loved the songs. It was so popular and got over 23 million to watch during the premiere weekend. That Disney has confirmed a sequel will be made

Zac and Ashley are already signed on, its suppose to come out Jan 2007

Was watching VH1 this morning(3/2/06) & it had a list of the top 5 selling albums....#1 High School Musical!!!!!!!!!! It's out sold James Blunt(who was #5). And #2 was like some Kidz Bop album but yeah. I was so happy & amazed!!

I had nothing to do the night it came on and after I watched it I was SHOCKED!. Disney managed to pull off somethiing I though was good besides Pirates of the Caribbean(which was amazing)! It was a tinsey bit corney but overall great for a Disney Channel movie.

Anyone notice that Ashley Tisdale(Sharpay) does a great diva strut right as "Status Quo" starts? I just think it;s funny, good though.

High school Musical was a very realistic movie for me. It really captured what High School life is like, out of the classrooms. Where jocks rule the school

Thats true in so many ways, which shows that everyone is still put into groups.

The music was very nice. Good tunes and rythems. Thumbs:tu: :tu: on that part.

Besides the fact that everyone suddenly bursts out singing, this was a very cool movie, and possibly the best one yet. Im excited for the Sequal. Should be cool.

Anyone watch the dance along? I taped it but haven't had the chance to watch it yet. Oh, funny story. A friend of mine at school got a text message from one of her friends & freaked out cause apparently that friend thinks High School Musical beats RENT as a musical!! I have no comment on that cause there's really no way to compare them in my opinion but yeah, I thought it was funny.

I watched high school musical too. At first I thought Disney Channel was just for little kids but I guess I'm wrong.

Disney's for everyone, you never really completely grow out of it. I'm up for Disney anyday of the week.

Ditto! I think may agree with you, it is amazing!! Anyone know if it's gonna be on DVD? Like, they some some DIsney original movies on DVD(Brink, Kim Possible, Zenon, etc.) So anyone know if High School Musical is expected to be a Disney DVD release & if so when?!

I really enjoyed this one. I'm a bit too old to myself, but my 8 year old and I loved it together. (As a mom, I look for things I can enjoy with her!) OH - the website says the dvd is coming out May 23rd... (I think)

This is probably gonna sound sappy but it's the only way I can think of to explain it. It's realistic enough for most to relate to it, but still takes us(the audience) to a...type of fantasty world, particularly through the music since High School is an atainable place. It's just fun & has that kid element to it but with real issues, & then......there's the hot guys & catchy songs & amazing dances.

I have to agree with DarkDaysAhead that when I saw the commericals for HSM I thought it would be a really dumb chick flick with bad music. But when I actually ended up watching it I saw that it was really cute and the music is that not bad.

Overall, I liked this movie. The music was a little cheezy, but thats what made it kind of fun. It was cute, I may or may not buy the DVD.

It was cheesy and fun :lol:. It was really cute, the cast was adorable, it made me laugh! :) The movie is fun, it made me kind of carefree, because seriousy, these days, people grow up too fast. It's cool to watch a sweet and wholesome movie and just be a kid :)

The songs were very successful, and I think I'll buy the DVD.

I'll definately be buying the DVD myself, supporting the wonderful film & the one & only(director & choreographer) Kenny Ortega to whom I owe many wonderful happy moments watching his films!!!! I was watching VH1's top 20 countdown yesterday & the host of the show, Amar Halem(sp), was at the virgin record store in NY roaming the aisles & he was in the Soundtrack section & I saw like 3 racks of the High School Musical st. It made me happy, lol.

Ahh, I love when they play the songs on Disney! Especially the one Sharpay and Ryan did at the first auditions is it called "What I've been Looking For"

Your welcome, no prolem. I was also happy to see the Dance along & sing along versions will be on it, just kind of wish I had known that before I tapped all 3 versions of it, would've saved me some blank tapes, oh well. Worth it.

If anyone loves it this much, like I do. If you watch the Disney channel later in the evening/night, the cast of HSM does commercials. Like last night, I saw a commercial & they were sitting on the couch with the cast of Hannah Montana to advertize for the show.

I really liked the movie, watched it every time it's been on! Defentally a buy for the DVD!

I would agree that it was one of the best Disney Channel movies to. I would relate to the movie also! But my favorite character would have been Troy, or Zac, he's hot.

My favorite line was when Troy was up at his "secret hideout" place and his basketball friends come up. Then Troy goes "Gabriella won't even talk to me, and i don't know why..."
I have no clue why but that's my favorite part in the whole movie...

One of my fave lines, besides "Evaporate tall person!", would have to be when troy & Gabriella are up on the roof & she's like blah, blah, blah, just feel like a girl. Something like that, & Troys like "Yeah & you even look like one!". I love that, so sweet & sarcastic.

It's for sure that their making a 2nd one and maybe a 3rd but i doubt the 3rd i mean that would be wayyy to much. but it would be cool if they could keep it going.

Yup - watched it again the other night, too.

And something really interesting. I teach Sunday School and woke ups with this one in my mind. The song that both Ryan & Sharpay sing and Troy & Gabriella reprise works very well as a gospel song. I let my kids listen to the words and thought about how it could just as easily apply to Jesus/God being right beside you, etc.

Anyway, then we jammed to the finale song at the end of class...

Surprisingly, I loved it.
I loved the "Get Cha Head in the Game" and "What I've Been Looking for" performances.
And Zac Effron has nice hair.

OMG!! Watching Disney channel, as HP & the Sorcerers Stone is on, & I've seen like 10 High School Musical commercials & have happy news!! First, this coming Friday Disney will be playing 2 showings of High School Musical, first the sing-a-long, then the dance-a-long; one right after the other!! But wait there's more, also there was a commercial saying that if teachers/schools wanted the rights/license or whatever to perform it as a school production(like a musical/play) all they have to do is go online to the official High School Musical site at Disneychannel.com to do so & get more information!!!!!!!! So next year for all I know my schools musical could be "High School Musical"!! Even though I'm graduating this year, I'd so go back to see it perfromed!!!!!!!!!!

For those of you that would like the exact date as to next Friday on which the HSM sing-a-long & dance-a-long will be shown, it's Friday April 21rst. Just saw the commercial again =D

my sister has the cd. i hate all the lovey lovey kissy kissy songs. my friend and i just make fun of get cha head in the game but iin a good way. we both kinda like that song. i laughed in most of that movie on how overdramatic it was. i was shocked that "troy" would randomly just be standing outside gabriella's window. my thought was, "STALKER!" we sing the songs whenever the movie plays just to have fun. cant wait for him to come over friday. its showing the singalong edition!. then we get to see the dance along one!

Ashley / Sharpay has got an ANNOYING voice. Vanessa / Gabriella is OK, but her voice is too weak.
Lucas / Ryan is the most talented if you ask me.

I don't have the CD, I just downloaded all the songs.
My favorite song / performance is Bop to the Top. They seriously out do themselves in that one. I think Lucas / Ryan is brave that he actually agrees to do all that girly booty shaking he does. If I was a guy I wouldn't to that for the sak of my dignity. But nah, he shakes it.

Oh...2008 seems so far away!!!! I want more HSM now!!!! Holy cow I love this movie so much! I have every single one of the songs memorized exceot "Cna't take my eyes off of you", which on my opinion is a very strange song.

While I was on vacation I took the CD wiht me. WE listened ot it so much over vacation that when we got in the car ot go home, my mom said "OK, the first thing we do is change the music!" becauseshe was so sick of heraing "Status Quo", "Get'cha Head in the Game," and "What I've been Looking For." I think those songs are permanently scratched into her mind now. I sing them all the time, and my brother actually likes a couple too! The cnading is amazing! I saw the dance-along too. I would have done it, but I was watching it with my family and I didn't want ot embarrass myself.

I put the relase date onto my scheduler so I know exactly when to buy it! And, although there are htose who disagree with me on this, ZAC EFRON IS HOT!!!!!!!!!! He is the first poster I've ever had that actually hangs one hte ceiling above my bed. I nearly swoon every time I look at it!:drool: :love:

It's a disney channel show, so I didn't think that it was amazing or anything. I don't like anyone's voice but Ryan's. And I think Disney should quit while their ahead and not make any sequals.

May I ask what you guys have against Disney Channel? I like most of their movies, but htta may be becasue I'm only beginning my teenage years. I do agree though that some of their movies are pretty stupid, like Bob the Butler, but otherwise they're generally pretty good!

No, the only thing I've heard about it was from a J-14 magazine..it said that it was oging ottake place in a country club on `summer break. But that's all I know...I'm just hoping that there's as much music in the next one as there was in the first!

Also, I found out yesterday that one of the movies he did a few years ago, Miracle Mile, will be on Lifetime May 24. But you should know that it's as un-Troy-like a part as he's likely to play. He plays an autistic teenager in that one. (I believe he won a young actors' award for that part...)

I didn't know this until a little while ago, when my friend said, ''You know that show that was filmed here last summer, High School Musical?'' I think it's the best movie to come on Disney Channel for years. I thought the movie was so sweet plus the songs have made me go crazy in lunch. I really have no idea what's so great about HSM. I watched it the other day and thought it was one of the cheesiest things I have ever seen (and having seen a good many Disney Channel Original Movies, that's saying something).
Everyone at school was singing those songs as soon as the movie came out, and I had no idea why, so I watched the movie to see what was so great about it. Persinally, I hated it. One of my least favorite movies on Disney (this is all in my opinion, of course).

:lol: It was cheestastic, that's for sure. But that's probably one of the reasons I loved it. It's nice to watch sweet and innocent movies these days, especially since I feel like people grow up too fast. This movie is sweet and funny and kind of makes me enjoy being a kid :).

I loved High School Musical!
It's not my favorite movie ever, but it's my favorite Disney Channel movie by far. I got a book with all the music from the movie. I've learned Breaking Free on the piano and it's such a great song. Apparently, they're making a sequel in which all the people go on summer vacation. I really enjoyed the first High School Musical...but I think the sequel sounds quite disappointing. :(

what r u talking about. the singing was real just they recorded it first in a recording tusio then played it while they did the dance moves and stuff. it is still them singing they just werent singing right when they were actually making the movie. everyone knows that.

I loved High School Musical. Honestly, i can't say why because none of the cast members are talenty vocally. (i'm a singer and i was disappointed at how computer-like all the voices sounded). but i still loved it!

I finally saw this today. It was exactly what I expected a cheesy, delightful kiddy movie. I LOVED the Buzz Lightyear reference, "You're gonna take us to infinity and and beyond." Soooo awesome. It would have been cool if the guy who played Buzz on the TV show had played the coach. That's what I was expecting. That movie was so fun.

yay i love this movie too i love the soundtrack i never take it out of my stereo....for those who would like to know it comes out on disney dvd on may 23 which was like 2 days ago....i think or it came out today (may 25) i know it comes out this week sometime so for those who would like to see it over and over...go and get it (best place to look is the disney store which is in most malls...american malls for those who dont live in the us...but ya....check there and then go elsewhere if you cant find it:love: ).....it has two versions and there is a second one coming out in jan. 2007 which will be about them on summer break cant wait for that one...they didnt expect it be such a phenomenon ...i think they had like 5 songs on the billboard charts which is huge......

The current plan is for the Troy, Gabriella, and the rest of the gang to do a show over the summer for some charity event at the country club where Troy is working as a lifeguard. It's set to start filming in the fall for a release next year.

I wouldn't doubt it for a second. This movie was such a smash hit that they're bound to milk it for all it's worth. I personally, thought it was a cute movie that Disney was long overdue to make. Although I'm 19, I can appreciate the music and everything when I watch it with my younger cousins. :lol: Although I don't care much for the obvious lip-synching. :rolleyes:

I don't think I've ever fan-girled over a DIsney movie before but HSM was one I definatly couldn't let go of. I was in Future Shop the other day and was in debat over whether I should get my long awaited Nickelback cd I've been meaning to get for a while but instead went and bought the HSM soundtrack and I can't get enough of it! One thing's for sure, I definatly didn't regret getting this instead because I got the NIckelback cd for my birthday so it all worked out perfectly!~

And yeah, the lipsyncing, as TrixieBella mentioned; really obvious. For a while, I thought it was really awkward, but then I figured it didn't really matter; it was part of the movie.

...But it's still really obvious.

There is no one site about the sequel. I've culled information from a series of articles on the web. The site to which I refer most often is Zefron.com because it is the most reliable source I've found.

Yeah, there was lip-synching, but only for Zac, I think. Andrew Seeley performed Get'cha Head in the Game. And for the rest they mixed their two voices so that it would sound better with Vanessa's voice. But that does not reduce my love of him at all!

Ariana, you may be thinking that Zac didn't sing for himself and that's true for most of the songs, but when you refer to lipsynching, during filming that's actually NORMAL. In every movie you watch, regardless of who is singing, the actors must lipsync, and here's why.

1) Acoustics during production are horrible. Mics are extremely sensitive and difficult to maneuver at best, but when you add musicians - forget it!

2) It would be extremely difficult for the editor as well. Generally, those shots are filmed without sound and the music/songs are added later. (They do have the music running during production so that everyone is in the same place and so they can synch to something, but the audio isn't being recorded at the time.)

It makes perfect sence though. It's really not that easy to sing which you're hopping around. Ever tried singing to a song you hear on the car radio and suddenly the car goes over a bump..?? Not only does that hurt the throat, but it jostles your song too. :agree:

My sister bought this movie the other day and asked me to watch it with her, and I reluctantly did. This was definitely a movie that I would normally hate and make fun of, but there was something about this one that I liked! The music was catchy, and I can see why Disney hit it big with this one.

Yes! I like Sharpay, she's funny and has a good sense of style. I also liek Troy, of course. And I love "Bop to the Top" and "Brekaing Free".
