I'm going to do a trilogy and I thought that somehow the middle was a good place to start! so this is book 2 (7th book), but it's the 1st one you read...then you read book 1 (marauders) then book 3(next generation)! So enjoy reading and any feedback would be great! thank you!

CHAPTER 1 - THE SURPRISE

Harry lay watching the clock in his room. 15 minutes till his birthday. 15 minutes until he was 17. 15 minutes till he came of age. 15 minutes until he stopped being protected by his Aunt's house and his mother's love.

He shivered as he remembered the dream that woke him up previously. The cold laughter echoed in his head, making his scar sting even more than usual. Visions of his mother's face as she was murdered, her green eyes invisible in the deadly flash. A red gleam standing out from the green and a sharp intake of breath, rasping and rattling. A billowing black cloak clouding his vision for moments until a harsh screech jolted him out of his recaptured dream. It was Pidgewidgeon, the Weasley's family owl.

Be prepared for my signal
Ron

5 minutes till his birthday. He started to pack his things, but realized he could do it magically soon. Harry sighed and sent Pidgewidgeon back without a note. 3 minutes. He got out a piece of parchment and scrawled,

Dear Aunt Petunia,
I'm sorry but I can't say goodbye in person. Thank you for all you've done for me, even if it hasn't been that much. Maybe I’ll see you again, maybe not. All the best for the future and good luck to Dudley with his weight loss plan.
All my love,
Harry

The clock struck and a note appeared out of no where.
"Accio wand," he called without reading or even acknowledging the letter. He packed it along with his other possessions as Pidgewidgeon appeared yet again. It did not feel any different being 17 than any other age to him at this moment. He opened the note from Pidgewidgeon.

scrap that. catch the knight bus. you know where to go.

Harry silently opened his bedroom door and crept down the corridor. He left the note on the shelf outside his room. "Accio broom," he whispered and walked calmly down the stairs and out the front door. He looked back and closed his eyes. He never thought he would be sad when he left Privet Drive, but he felt tears begin to prick his eyes. All the good memories came back, the bad ones just melting away. They did not matter. He stuck out his right are while still looking at his old home. The knight bus grinded to a halt, the doors in the exact position for his feet. The doors opened and Stan Shunpike (recently released out of Azkaban) stood before him.
"Welcome aboard the Knight bus...My word, its 'Arry potter! 'ello 'Arry! how are you? Where are you off tot hen? The Burrow? Thought so, off we go then!" Stan babbled quickly.

"How did you know I was going to the Burrow?” Harry asked as he grabbed onto the nearest bed stand.

"Molly told me all about it! She asked me to tell you something but I’ve completely forgotten. Anyway, she told me you were cumin ‘ear it would be two days ago now, she went and picked up them dress robes that Fleur designed. Gold. Very fancy."

"Fleur? Why's Fleur at the Burrow?"

"Don't you remember? Fleur and Bill are getting' married in 2 days time! It's going to be so happy! Fleur Weasley. Goes doesn’t it. Anyway 'ere we are. See you on Thursday 'Arry!" With that Harry found himself climbing out of the bus looking at the Burrow.

"Of course," he said out loud, suddenly remembering all the one word owls from Ron. All they said was Fleur. Harry had forgotten after a while what they actually meant.

Over the 1st few weeks of the holidays he hadn't come out of his room much. Dumbledore. He was gone. Snape had killed him. That had been his dream. It was only since tonight it had changed. It had always ended in Dumbledore's cold, white face lifeless.

"Harry!" Hermione cried and ran out, her hair sleek and glossy. She was wearing a periwinkle blue dress robe. Ginny also ran out, just to see what the fuss was about. It only took one look at him to send her inside in tears. Harry stood motionless. Ginny had looked beautiful. A baby pink dress robe with her hair all curly. Harry had missed her. He knew he could never hold her or kiss her again while Voldemort was at large. And that could be forever.

"Harry, are you all right?" Hermione asked when he didn't respond.

"I'm fine. Just pleased to be here. What’s going on?"

"Everyone's trying on their dress robes. I'm afraid all the guys are over at Grimmauld place, but never mind. We were just going to get changed anyway." Hermione led Harry into the kitchen and sat him down. "I'll be back in a second."

Harry breathed in deeply and allowed himself to sleep. He was tired. His eyes drooped. A dreamless sleep took hold of him.

Ginny crept in. Sighed and got a glass, filled it with water, turned around and was Harry watching her.
"What are you doing?" she asked furiously.

"Can't I look at you anymore then?" he replied, his expression changing from a warm smile to a cold blank face. Ginny was on the verge of tears. Water forming droplets in her eyes.

"I'm sorry Ginny," he said getting up, his expression warm again. "I'm just tired , I shouldn't have spoken to you like that." He walked across the room towards her. "I've missed you so much. I...I just couldn't bring myself to send you and owl and you didn't send me one. I'm sorry." He reached where she stood and looked at her face which was facing the floor. "I'm sorry." A tear slipped out of his eye. Ginny looked up, saw his tear and automatically wiped it away from his face. She closed her eyes as he held her, wishing it would last forever. Harry clang on to her. Loving her with all his heart, trying to block out the rest of the world. But he couldn't block out Voldemort. Voldemort would attack the people Harry loved the most, just to get at him. He broke off the hug, brushing more tears from his eyes as he ran outside and knelt on the grass.

Ron apparated holding on to Lupin, to see Harry shaking. He approached Harry who leapt up.

"Get away! Don't you understand? I can't be around people!" Harry shouted. Fleur, Molly, Ginny and Hermione cam out to see what was going on. Lupin and the other guys looked at him. He didn't care. "I can't be here! I shouldn’t' be here! I'm putting you all in danger. I need to go. I need to get away from you. I need to get away from the people I...I..." He couldn't bring himself to finish the sentence, but everybody knew what he was going to say. Everybody also knew the 3 main people it was directed at. Ginny, Hermione and Ron. Love.

"Harry," Hermione called. "You aren't dangerous. Why would you think that?"

"Hermione. I have KILLED people"

"What? No you haven't!"

"Yes I have. It's because of me Dumbledore's dead. Because of me my parent's are dead. Because of me Sirius is dead. Because of me Ginny almost..."

""Because of you I am alive Harry. I would have died in eh Chamber of secrets, but YOU saved me. Your parents, Dumbldore, Sirius died because of VOLDEMORT!" Ginny shouted, trying to calm him down by saying the name Voldemort.

"They all died for me, so I would live. I killed them."

"No Harry. You killed no one." Ginny approached him.

"GET AWAY!" She carried on walking.

"How do you think I feel not being able to hold you or kiss you? It used to help me knowing that I would be with you, and now I have to live loving you and hiding it. Ron, Hermione. I wish that we were all just as happy as we were together in the 1st year. Before we knew Voldemort was out to kill me and I was the only one that could stop him. Everyone. I wish I didn't have this scar. it hurts me everyday. Reminding me that every single action I take has a consequence to who lives and who dies. I don't want to hurt anyone a part from him." Ginny took his hand. "Didn't you just hear me?"

"I know I accepted it earlier, but I realized I can't any longer when you held me in the kitchen. I love you Harry. I think you still love me, and nothing is going to stop that. I'm not a little girl anymore. I can look after myself. I know you're not coming back to Hogwarts even if it does open again."

"About that..." Lupin said.

"Remus. I don't think it's the time to interrupt," Charlie whispered.

"Nope! Definitely not the time to tell them about...that thing," Bill added. "Now shut up!"
"I want to be with you Harry. I know all that noble stuff, but I don't care! I’ve been controlled by Voldmort. I want to control him by helping you destroy him. I know everything Harry. Even about why Dumbledore dies. Everything." Ginny continued.

"It's too dangerous. I would never forgive myself if it would be your funeral next." Harry replied.

"But it would be fine if it were Hermione's or Ron's? It's exactly the same, except, I'm a year younger. I am 16. By this time you had defeated him so many times. You are a hero, not a dangerous murderer Harry"

"So? I was unlucky. I got thrown in everything I have been through. I had no choice! Die or fight, I’d rather live thank you very much!" Harry collapsed to his knees as a large volt of pain shot through his scar, the pain overpowering him.

"Harry, Ginny. I'm afraid you'll have to finish this tomorrow," Lupin said steeping between them and helping Harry up. "Let's get you both inside."

As Harry was led inside, he was determined to keep talking to Ginny, but as his head hit the pillow, he fell into the 1st long dreamless night, he had ever had.

****************************************

The next morning, Harry woke up with Ron and Hermione on the edge of his bed.

"Hi Harry. How are you?" Ron asked carefully. All of Harry's angry thoughts had disappeared during the night. All he could think about were the few blissful days he had left with Ron and Hermione.

"I'm good thanks," he replied. "Not angry now," he added with a sheepish grin. "Sorry about that. I've missed you so much. I'm really looking forward to these last couple of days I have before I have to start my search. How are you guys?"

"Oh!" Hermione cried out throwing her arms round his neck. "I've missed you too! Me and Ginny..." she trailed off, not wanting to upset Harry again.

"Don't worry. I'm calm! I'll sort it out with Ginny today without shouting. Go on." Hermione grinned when she heard there was to be no more shouting.

"Me and Ginny are so sick of Fleur going on about her wedding. It's going to be gold! Its so...so... chav! Ron of course hates his robes but won't hear a word against her. At least he merges in with the background, me and Ginny have to wear our normal ones! Ron just blocks his ears when he hears anyone saying...a bad...word...against...her. Ron what are you doing?" she asked as Ron had his hands over his ears and was humming very loudly.

"Sorry, what's that?" he asked innocently.

"Never mind mate, " Harry chuckled." Don't worry, I’m not a massive fan of Fleur either. So how are you Ron?"

"I'm good thanks. Been practicing quidditch! Oh, we've also got a new..."

"Oh! That'll be Krum!" Hermione shrieked as she heard the doorbell.

"Krum... in my house?" Ron said disbelievingly as Hermione rushed downstairs, smoothing her hair out. At that moment, 4 Hogwarts owls flew through the window and dropped off a letter for each of the 4 students attending. Both Harry's and Hermione's were very thick.

"Don't open them. I have something to tell you all 1st." Lupin emerged from the doorway. "Follow me." Harry took the letters with him as he ran after Lupin and Ron. What could it be? he thought. Something to do with Dumbledore, or Hogwarts maybe? Harry walked into the living room to find everyone sitting down in a circle.
"What's that Harry?" Hermione asked, sitting next to Krum.

"Letters from Hogwarts. Before you open them I have something to say.” Lupin answered Hermione's question. "Yes, Hogwarts is going to reopen. I know who the headmaster is and I am going to tell you. I know that he can never replace our dear friend Albus Dumbledore, but I know he'll do his best to earn your respect as the new headmaster of Hogwarts."

"Who is it?" Ginny asked.

"Me."

"What?" Harry asked with a huge grin on his face. "You? Headmaster?"

"Yes Harry. And I’m also defense against the dark arts teacher as well."

"But how? Wouldn't the ministry disallow that because you're...well you're a werewolf?"

"Yes. They would have, but every wizard above the age of 25, by wizarding law, has to have a will and a main heir. You are of course allowed to change your will and heir, which Dumbledore did on several occasions. Dumbledore had left his money to you Harry, Hermione and Ron. But realizing he could not have you three running Hogwarts, he appointed me as his heir. He also wished that I became Defense against the dark arts teacher again."

"Couldn't the ministry just destroy the will or over ride it?"

"No Harry," Hermione said. "I remember reading about this in the library. When a person dies, their will appears in front of the heir. Nothing can stop what the will says, as long as it is the owners to give. Lupin is rightfully the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and wizardry!" With that the whole room broke out in celebration, champagne bottles were conjured out of thin air and poured into glasses. After a few minutes, Lupin asked Harry for a word.

"In the will, I was enclosed a private letter addressing what Dumbledore had been doing with you all last year. He asked if I could carry on helping you find the..."he dropped his voice at the word "horcruxes. I expect you got my letter. I sent it to you by appamail. It's where you apparate your letter, usually you use it for urgent messages but this way it can't be intercepted.

"Wait. I never got a letter. Unless...hold on." Harry ran upstairs and back down again holding a letter in his hand. "What does it say?" he asked as he started to open up the seal.

"No. Not here. Upstairs." They sneaked out the room and went into Lupin's bedroom. Harry hastily ripped it open, his wishes of it being his first birthday greeting vanishing as he saw the large wad of paper inside.

"Do I have to read all of this?" he asked.

"No, only if you want to. It's a copy of Dumbledore's will. There's a letter for you in there from him. Here's the bit from me." He took the piece of paper from Lupin and unfolded it.

Harry,
I need to speak to you privately regarding Voldemort's Horcruxs. If you're wondering how I know about them then you'll have to wait until I can see you. There is a rhyme which I wondered if you could try to work out. It was sent to me by Dumbledore before the night Snape betrayed us all.
When the moon and sun are aligned
Before destiny is fulfilled
The snake will lead and destroy not only the elixir but the fulfiller

This could mean a number of things, but I cannot say more until we meet. I also need to see your patronus, the world is changing and so are you. Even though you are 17.The day after Fleur’s wedding, your apparation test with Ron. Then I shall try and persuade you to come back to Hogwarts. If you have any chance of defeating he who must not be named, you will need to know more advanced spells.
see you soon Harry
Remus Lupin

What is the rhyme about? Harry asked himself, Where did Dumbledore get it? There were so many questions he wanted to ask, needed to ask. What did this mean? Did Dumbledore know he was going to die? If not why, why did he send the riddle to Lupin, knowing that he would give it to Harry, when he could just give it to him in person. And what did the riddle mean? When the moon and sun are aligned. That only happened in eclipses, which wasn't due this year or the next. Before destiny is fulfilled. He only knew that destiny was to do with prophecies. The snake not only will destroy the elixir, but the fulfiller. Fulfiller was connected with prophecies. Elixir, the elixir produced from the mirror was gone and he didn't know of any other ones. What else was there? He knew it kept someone alive. Hold on! the horcruxes kept Voldemort alive, or at least kept him from dieing. Voldemort could speak Parseltounge. There was a prophecy about Harry which he needed to fulfill. Was Voldemort the snake? Then he would find his own Horcrux, then kill himself as Harry would not have done anything. Not likely. Was he, himself the snake? He would find the final horcrux, and then kill himself. He knew he would not give away his own life when he still had Voldemort himself to kill.

He expressed these ideas to Lupin who just nodded in response.

"Yes," he said when Harry had finished. "I wondered about the prophecy, but like you, I got stuck as to who the snake was." Ginny suddenly burst into the room.

"Oh, sorry," she said as she went red. "We were just wondering where you had gone." She burst into tears and ran out of the room.

"Wait Ginny!" he shouted after her as Lupin left the room. "Come back, please. I need to talk to you." She walked back towards him and into the room again, still crying. "I'm sorry. I am so sorry. I was wrong yesterday. I should never have mixed with your emotions. I still love you...a lot. You mean so much to me which is why I wouldn't know what to do without you in my life. You are so beautiful and I have to know that you are safe. I...I can't be near you so I...I’m not coming back to Hogwarts. Look, I know I said that at D...Dumbledores funeral, but I never knew it would be so hard to think that I would never return. I'll still send you messages, but not through owl. I've got two days before I might never see you again. You have no idea what this is going to do to me but I know that it's going to rip out my heart 'cause it's already doing that. No one apart from Dumbledore or Sirius could get me to go back and they're both, d...dead."

"Please, no, no, no. If I never see you again then that will kill me. Please don't do this," she said between sobs, "please."

"I need you to be strong, for me. I won't go unless you say you are okay with it. If I stayed at Hogwarts or here, or even Grimmauld place then I would be unbearably worried about you. I know it's hard, but you've got to let me go. I'm dangerous."

"I need to show you something." Ginny pulled Harry downstairs to where the family clock was.

"It's...it's changed!" he said shocked. The hands were no longer constantly pointing to 'mortal danger', but at home, or as it said on the clock 'the burrow'. There were more sections to the clock now. There were 9 of them: the burrow, the ministry, hogwarts, Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, headquarters, traveling, fighting and mortal danger. Harry also noticed that there were more hands. Mr. and Mr. Weasley, Charlie, Bill, Fred, George, Ron, Ginny and then Harry and Hermione too. Percy had been missed off due to his argument with his parents. "Why am I on there?" Harry asked.

"We all consider you as part of the family, well, everybody apart from me. If thought of you as part of the family then something would be wrong because I don't love you like that. You can go because I know it will make you happy. Well, not make you happy, but at peace of mind. I have to speak with you though Harry. Otherwise I won't be able to go on." With that she left to rejoin the celebrations.

Harry steadily wandered back upstairs to Lupin's bedroom and took Dumbledore's will. He found the closed bit addressed to him and opened it.

Dear Harry,
Yes. I am dead and yes I knew I would be. I found out when I heard Professor Snape talking to Malfoy in the corridor. I thought Severus was trying to stop Draco and of course I did not know who he was planning to kill, but I guessed. I guessed correctly.
I have left you my pensieve which still has my thoughts in it. They are not dead like me. If you find them you may be able to find clues as to where the other horcruxes are. I have asked Professor Lupin to take up the defense against the dark arts post and headmaster. He will run the school efficiently and I am sure he will only to willing to help you with the horcruxes. May I remind you that there are 4 left.
My last wish is that you remain at Hogwarts to complete your education. You will find it easier to destruct the Horcruxes then Harry. Good luck, although, I do have a feeling that we will meet very soon.
Albus Dumbledore

He went to his and Ron's room and packed the letters into his suitcase. He would think no more of them till the day after Fleur's wedding. Looking forward to the day ahead, he walked downstairs and into the ongoing celebrations with a smile on his face, not letting his troubled thoughts come out in his voice or face. For a couple of hours, he would be at peace.

That was when a deep voice shouted, "AVADA KEDAVRA!" and a scream echoed from the kitchen, along the halls to the room where everybody froze.

"Ginny!"

CHAPTER 2 - Malfoy's betrayal

A dark hooded figure rushed through the trees, unable to apparate. On the edge of the forest he came to a dark hut. He opened the door and a hiss coming from a large snake broke the silence.

"My dear Snape, why did you kill Dumbledore?" said a figure in the shadows.

"I had vowed master. I tried to resist but I could not fight it knowing that if I left it, then I would die. Die without living to see your supreme kingdom. Die without living to see the light switch off in Potter's eyes." The hooded figure took off his hood and revealed Severus Snape, the old potions master of Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. His dark greasy hair swung like curtains over his pale face, hiding the small sunken eyes. "I know I have not returned to you during the time you have been...back... but only because I have stayed with Dumbledore so he would continue to trust me."

"Severus," a merciless voice echoed through what Snape had thought was a small hut; however, inside it was a grand hall, not unlike the great hall at Hogwarts. It had high ceilings which showed the night sky, but unlike outside, there were no stars, but a stormy scene with the dark mark hanging directly above them. "I would kill you, but I still need your services. As you know, we are at Hogwarts, in Rubeus Hagrid's hut. I have created a portal between here and where I am living currently- the place you see now. Only people with certain...certain qualities will be able to use this portal. You being one of them."

"Aah, so you have killed Mr. Hagrid then my Dark Lord? Very clever, but I hope you don't mind me asking what you are going to do next?"

"My plan? Well of course, but I would have thought that a great Death Eater like yourself would be able to work that one out...but maybe being with Professor Dumbledor for so long has weakened you?" He let out a cruel laugh which chilled the air. The pillars which were there to hold up the ceiling began to laugh too, before Snape realized that the pillars were covered in dark green snakes and that they were all laughing at him. He also realized what he had to do and that the snakes were laughing at that rather than at what Voldemort had said. He had to become Rubeus Hagrid and live in his hut. He started to get angry.

"I do not mean to anger you Lord, but do you really expect the school to reopen? Even if it does do you expect me to drink polyjuice potion day and night so I can pretend to be nice to Potter, Weasley and Granger? Is this what you expect from me?"

"Severus, remember that I am above you and that you are in debt to me! if you do not wish to take this task then I am sure I can make other arrangements...no? Then I shall explain to you your task. I am as sure that Hogwarts will reopen as I am sure that I could kill you in one second!" His tone softened slightly as he continued. "Through one of Hogwart's pupils who is under the imperious curse, I purchased some metamorphous medals from the Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes shop in Diagon Alley."

"They are banned by the ministry though!" said a blonde haired woman from behind Snape. "No shop, especially a joke shop in Diagon Alley would be allowed to sell them!"

"Of course they are not real metamorphous medals, but after thoroughly examining one of them, I realized the can be used in this way."

"What were they originally used for?" asked Snape.

"Becoming invisible. It said on the packet that they were first developed from hats that they invented at Hogwarts when they were 16. They have obviously changed into medallions. They are not charmed you see. No, they have a compartment inside them full of a potion they must have invented themselves, it's a very clever piece of magic, especially for blood traitors like the Weasleys," Voldemort spat out the word 'Weasleys' as if it had a very bad taste. "You can fill them up with completed polyjuice potion, and the certain piece of metal that is inside, allows it to radiate out, so when you put it on, you appear to change into the person in the medal. It seems to have a very long life. Wormtail has worn one all summer and it still seems to work perfectly well. This solves the problem of drinking polyjuice potion every hour. Severus, you will have a few of these incase one gets broken or stops working. The medallion also stays invisible while worn, so nobody will be able to see it. You will not only be spying on Hogwarts, Potter, Weasley and Granger, but also the order of the Phoenix, and will do the bidding of the new headmaster of Hogwarts, and the secret keeper of the order. But of course you will ultimately serve me. Whenever you are here Severus, you will be required to give me updates on what is happening."

"Thank you my lord," bowed Snape, not quite believing his master's kindness.

"Now Narcissa! I expect you are wondering why I have called you here? Well, Snape has delivered to me Draco. I expect he would like to know what is going to happen to him! Wormtail?"

A tall figure with long blonde hair strode into the room. He took off something invisible to Snape, Narcissa and Voldemort from around his neck. and turned into a small stooped figure, holding a large gold medallion in silver hand.

"You called for me master?" Wormtail asked.

"Bring the boy to me."

"As you wish," he clicked his fingers, and a white-blonde haired boy skulked into the room.

"Now listen Draco," Voldemort addressed him in a quiet voice. "I have kept you away from me ever since you have arrived here for a very good reason. You did not complete your task!" he started to raise his voice. ""You did not kill Albus Dumbledore! As you have not completed your task, as you have not killed Albus Dumbledore, AS YOU HAVE NOT KILLED! All that preparation we did last year was all for NOTHING! As you have not completed your task, as you have not killed Albus Dumbledore, you cannot have the Dark Mark. You cannot become a Death Eater!"

Malfoy thought back to last July when something happened to him that would change his life forever...

*************************************

Draco held onto his mother's arm as she apparated onto a large beach. Nearby was a cave where an eerie green light seemed to almost float out to them. He had no idea what was going on. Trying to stay brave he searched for an escape route in case anything happened. He wouldn't be able to apparate as he was underage and besides, didn't know how. There were steep cliffs on either side leading as far away as the eye could see. They were to steep to climb without magic. The waves were rough so he also wouldn't be able to swim anywhere. He was trapped.

"Come on Draco," his mother said as she started to walk towards the cave. She was wearing her normal robes, but also had a dark mask on.

"Mum, where are we going?" Malfoy asked, him being frightened starting to show. They entered the cave and Draco could see that the light was coming from a cauldron in the center of the cave which had an acid green potion in it. Around the cauldron was a ring of people dressed like his mother.

Narcissa pushed Malfoy into the center of the ring and took her place. All the Death Eaters started to chant and sway to a non-existent beat until a cruel laugh filled the air. Malfoy knew he was going to come face to face with the great dark lord Voldemort. He saw him across the cauldron.

"Draco Malfoy. How wonderful of you to join us. I just wondered, how permanent do you want this arrangement to be?" the figure spoke addressing Malfoy as though he did not really care if he was there or not. He turned to reveal a man with red eyes and thin lips. His skin was white and looked like thin paper, his nose merely two flapping slits.

"D...do you want me to become one of th...these?" he stammered, signaling to the death eaters. "My Dark Lord,” he added on the end, through fear of offending him.

"It is not a question of whether I want you to become one, but one of if you want to serve me?"

Draco paused. This man did not seem evil at all. He seemed quite nice. "Of course I will become one, I want to help you!"

"Excellent," Voldemort said in a harsher tone. "Wormtail!" A small figure came out of the ring and hobbled towards Malfoy. He grabbed his arm and rolled up the sleeve of his robe. He then made a deep cut, causing Malfoy to cry out in pain as the crimson river poured onto the floor. The pain was blinding and he couldn't remember a thing from when the cut was made, till his arm was in the green liquid. The death eaters had started to chant louder and Voldemort was standing next to him. His arm was lifted out of the potion and where the cut had been made was a faint, green dark mark. Voldemort chanted with them and led Malfoy into a room at the end of the cave.

"Draco Malfoy, you have chosen to join me in victory. However you will not fully become a death eater until you complete your special task. To become a death eater you have to kill. I have a specific task for you, but you cannot tell anybody. It will be yours and my secret."

"Of course!" Malfoy said willingly, "who is it?"

"Albus Dumbledore."

******************************

The glee in those words reminded Malfoy how much he had wanted to be a Death Eater.

"I am very sorry My lord," Malfoy said with renewed vigor, "It felt as though he had some kind of hold on me. I still want to help you on your path to Victory!"

"I know you do Darco. I am disappointed in you though. You will have to kill soon because the preparation is fading, and once that has gone you will DIE! So I need you to kill somebody now. Are there any volunteers?" Voldemort spoke to everybody. "No? Then CRUCIO!" He short the curse at Malfoy who fell to the ground.

Voldemort watched lazily until Narcissa shouted, "No! Leave him alone!"

"We have our victim then," Voldemort said as he released the curse. "Draco, you are to kill your mother!"

OK...I couldn't leave u with that cliffy for long...so here is the next part to chapter 2! enjoy!

All the death eaters appeared from behind the pillars and went into the same ring they went to as the previous year. Draco, his mother and Voldemort stood in the middle. "Now I’m not usually one to drag out deaths, but what can I say? This is an exception! We are going to start with a bit of torture, until she just knows who you are, and then you will kill her. The last thing she will remember is that YOU killed her!"

"NO!" Malfoy cried out.

"Yes Draco," Narcissa sobbed uncontrollably. "It's me or you."

"Your mother is right boy, and although I regret losing one of my most prized death eaters, she is getting old, and you are young. In theory, you should last longer!"

"Please no! There must be another way!"

"Well there is. But you will die if you don't succeed and to be honest, I can't see much chance of that happening." Voldemort let about a quiet cackle.

"Don't do it Draco!" Narcissa called out.

Draco looked at his mother tearfully and mouthed 'sorry'. For one terrible but thankful moment Narcissa thought he was going to kill her. "I'm all ears, "Malfoy said confidently.

"Good, good. If you are sure then? Yes? Very good. Then listen carefully. There are two parts. The second, only you and I will know about, the first will happen right here, right now. Instead of killing one person, you shall have to kill three. After killing these people, I will perform the ceremony and you shall become one of my death eaters and proceed onto the second half. You will have to kill a death eater, of your choice, a newborn baby and one of your old Slytherin school friends. Yes I know you would rather choose Weasley or Granger, but this makes it harder. Now, choose your death eater!"

"I d...don't know m...master."

"You know me choosing for you will make it a lot harder. And of course I’m not going to try and make it any easier."

"Y...yes."

"Fine. Then I choose Bellatrix Lestrange." A gasp came out of Narcissa's mouth.

"My sister..."she whispered.

Malfoy did not want to kill his aunt, but he had already had so many chances. He had no choice but to kill her. He raised his wand, pointed it at her and shouted, "AVADA KEDAVRA!" A short scream hit everybody's ears, only to echo around the hall.

"Excellent Draco. You have made progress, but can you handle a baby that has barely had a life yet?" Voldemort conjured a baby into the hall.

Draco looked at the tiny baby and the dead body of his aunt Bellatrix beside it. He knew it would be easier this time. As he pointed the wand at the baby and sent out the curse, he felt no emotion. Before Voldemort could ask which one of his friends he would like, he said, "I'll kill Goyle."

"My death eater Goyle? Or his son?"

"My friend, Goyle."

Goyle appeared holding a piece of Chocolate cake. "Hello Malfoy, what are you doing here?" Malfoy looked at him.

"I can't do it," he looked down in shame. "He's been one of my best mates."

"Do what Draco?" Goyle asked.

"You have to now," Voldemort sneered, "He's seen us. Now kill him!"

"AVADA KEDAVRA!" Malfoy shouted feeling sadness and regret erupt throughout his body but which was replaced by calm and bliss.

"Good. You have proven yourself worthy of becoming a death eater, but don't think you are forgiven. You still have to complete the second half of the task. Come." He conjured a full cauldron. It was the same one as last year, holding the same green liquid. "Wormtail," Voldemort commanded. "You know what to do."

Wormtail went over to Bellatrix's body. He cut her and filled a glass vial with her blood. He repeated it with the other two bodies. "Here you are master." He gave Voldemort the vials.

Voldemort began to chant and poured two drops of blood from each vial into the cauldron. The potion bubbled and hissed and let off thick black smoke. It went to a dark green and continued to bubble. He approached Malfoy. "Lift up your sleeve," he hissed, but seemed to continue chanting. Malfoy tried to cry out but found he couldn't so lifted up his sleeve. Voldemort poured the rest of Bellatrix's blood on his Malfoy's very faded, light green dark mark. The pain was unbearable. It seared through him like a hot poker. The second lot landed causing even more pain.

' I wonder if dieing is this painful?’ he thought as the third vial was applied.

Suddenly, Voldemort's eyes turned red and Malfoy knew why every person in the wizarding world was afraid of Lord Voldemort. His arm was plunged into the dark potion. Instead of being hot, as he expected, it was icy cold. However, it didn't soothe his burning wound, but anger it more to the point in which he felt like he had an ice dagger in his arm.

All fell silent, and Draco Malfoy found himself lying on the stone floor. A couple of years ago he was an innocent young teenager, now, a murderer who served something as bad as the devil in the eyes of wizards and witches. The cauldron had vanished, but the skull and the snake on his arm remained.

"If you are ready, then we shall discuss what you are going to do next..." said an evil voice from the shadows.

I hoped you like the end of this chapter. I'll try and start putting up the next chapter as soon as I write it!

CHAPTER 3 - Mungo’s and a small surprise

Harry woke up in a white room, in a white bed, wearing white robes. He reached out to the side for his glasses but couldn't find them.

"You're awake mate!" Ron grinned at Harry's bewildered face, squinting as he tried to find the face of his best friend.

"Ron? Is that you?" Ron waved his glasses in front of his nose and Harry slipped them on, "oh yeah, hey mate."

"Are you feeling ok?"

"Yeah, I feel fine thanks. Just a bit bruised but no worse than after a bad quidditch match. Is everyone else ok? Oh yeah, where am I?"

"I think you're slightly worse off than after quidditch, however rainy or however many bludgers Dobby charms to kill you. I might get you a mirror later, they said the scars aren't as permanent as your one but they're pretty nasty."

"So I’m at Mungo's?"

"Oh yeah, sorry. Everyone else is fine apart from Ginny. She got a nasty curse, worse than...hold on, you were there! You already know all this!"

"Well, actually I can't remember anything from the scream till now...fill me in?" he asked sheepishly.

"Sure," Ron drew the curtains so that outsiders wouldn't be able to listen in. "Well we all heard the curse, and then I realized it was Ginny in there. Your an into the kitchen and started firing curses at what we think was a death eater."

"Wait, what you think was a death eater?"

"Well we were hoping you or Ginny could tell us, and she’s still asleep." He got back to the story. "The death eater or whatever it was sent you a really nasty curse, like the one you gave Malfoy last year, but worse. It came all over your body. You were bleeding everywhere! Then you collapsed next to Ginny. The weirdo just disappeared before any of us could get near him. We got you guys into Mungo's. The end. That was four days ago. You only just woke up, and as I said before, Ginny still hasn't woken up."

"Can I see her?"

"Not yet mate. I need to get a healer to check up on you. Oh, by the way, Hermione's got news, the next apparition test is two weeks today, so we have a practice next week, Bill and Fleur's wedding has been postponed cause the attack and that's about it. The wedding will happen when you and Gin are better. Probably next week."

"Ron," a voice said from outside the curtain. "You're going home now, get some sleep, relax- you really need it cause you're talking to Harry like he's awake, again. Your next shift is this evening." Hermione opened the curtains and saw Harry sitting up with his glasses on. "Harry! You're awake! I'll go get everyone! Ron, have you got a healer?"

"Erm..."

"I'll get one of them too!" And with that she was gone. A couple of moments later, a healer came in and checked Harry over. Around five minutes after that, plus some general chatting with Ron, Molly, Arthur, Bill, Charlie, Fred and George Weasley stood around his bed along with Hermione, Fleur, and Remus Lupin.

"Harry darling! I'm so glad you're awake. How are you feeling?" Mrs. Weasly bustled.

"I'm ok thank you."

"Good, we were, erm, wondering,,,"

"I'm sorry Mrs. Weasley, I can't remember a thing. I have no idea who attacked me and Ginny."

Her smile faltered slightly, "never mind dear. I'm sure you memory will come back soon, and don't worry if it doesn't."

A healer poked her head through the many people surrounding Harry's bed. " Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, your daughter, Ginerva, has just woken up! You can go and see her soon, but I’m afraid she won't be able to talk until tomorrow."

"Oh! That's wonderful news!" Molly smiled broadly again.

"Good," Fleur started, "Now I can try an' set a date for my wedding."

"All in good time sweetheart," Bill whispered to her.

Molly went off to see the healer about Harry and Ginny. When she came back and told them that Harry would be back tomorrow and Ginny should be by the end of the week. "They want to do a couple of tests on you Harry," Molly explained. "See if they can figure out which curse hit you."

Everybody started to leave, but Ron and Hermione decided to stay for a little longer to keep him company.

"I never got a chance to speak with you guys about where I went with Lupin," Harry said. "Over the summer I got a letter. Lupin sent it to me on my Birthday. He sent it by appamail?..."

"Oh," Hermoine cried out. "Is that where you apparate your owl and the letter at the same time, but then disapparate you owl back, but without the letter. I've only read about it inn legends, I never knew it was true! Maybe that's what the order use instead of Owls. It can't be intercepted!"

"Erm...yeah, I think that's how you do it. Anyway, I opened it in Lupin's bedroom and there was a copy of Dumbledore's will, a letter from him, and of course the letter from Lupin himself. Well the letter from Lupin had a riddle in it, something like,

When the moon and sun are aligned,
before destiny is fulfilled,"

Hermione finished it off.

"The snake will lead and destroy not only the elixir,
But the fulfiller."

"How the hell do you know that?" Harry asked confused.

"I've seen it twice before now. Two years ago at the department of mysteries, one of the prophecies smashed and this old woman came out and it said the prophecy. The other time I saw it was last year, when I was looking for 'prince'. It was in a book and afterwards it said that it wasn't a prophecy but a riddle. Apparently no one's ever solved it. They've made guesses but all their answers were prove wrong. To solve it you need to break it down into three sections. Cryptic clues, lateral clues and logical clues. It also said that it could be used in one of the largest battles of time to come. That's the only conclusion that hasn't been proved to anything. I didn't think anything else of it."

Ron and Harry were looking at her quite worried and scared. "How do you remember all of that?" they asked flabbergasted.

"I take in information. Unlike you two... Anyway, I’ll try and work that out if you ant?"

"If you could, it's really hard, I mean Lupin couldn't work it out and neither could I."

"Hardly any wizards, especially great ones have any logic at all. Pure-bloods don't either. Muggle-born witches or wizards are the ones that get most of it." she said brightly.

"Yeah, I remember you saying when you worked out the potions to get through the fire in first year."

"If you thought about it, it wasn't to hard. Anyway, did you have more?"

"Erm...yeah. Whoever I made the snake just...it didn't work out. After that I read the letter from Dumbledore," he winced at the mention of his headmaster's name. "He basically told me Lupin knows everything, trust him. And that he wants me to stay at Hogwarts for my last year. He's left me the pensieve which has his thoughts in so we can try and find the other...bits."

"Yeah, that's good," Ron said.

"Oh, Hermione, what was your news?" remembering what Ron had said earlier.

"I don't know why, especially as I might not be there all the time because I will be helping you a lot," she said breathlessly.

"Just get to the point!" Ron and Harry thought aloud.

"I'm...I’m head girl!"

"Wow Hermione! That's great! Do you know who Head Boy is?"

"No, I really want to know though."

"I bet...so do I."

"We're planning on having a party to celebrate both of you being well, and Ginny's OWL results and Hermione's post as Head Girl." Ron explained.

"We're sorry Harry, but we've got to go now. Here's yours and Ginny’s Hogwarts letter. We thought you'd like to give it to her?" They said giving him the letters with Green ink. "Something for both of you to read when you're bored." They said their goodbyes and left Harry alone again.

He looked at the envelope for a while before finally breaking the wax seal and tipping it upside down on his lap. He felt something heavy land and saw a glint of gold. He picked it up and saw the writing, 'head boy' on it. 'No,' he thought. 'This must be a dream! Me? Head Boy? Lupin had said Dumbledore had explained to him.' Harry searched for the accompanying note.

"There!" Harry said out loud triumphantly.

Dear Mr. Potter,

Congratulations on becoming Head Boy for Hogwarts 2006 - 2007! You will of course be able to stay on being Quidditch captain for your house (Gryffindor). You will have to come and see me (Professor Lupin, Headmaster of Hogwarts)in compartment one, carriage one on the first of September on the Hogwarts Express. There we shall discuss security measures.
Yours Sincerely,
Professor R Lupin

'No, that can't be right!' Harry thought angrily. 'There's got to be a better explanation somewhere!' He searched through the rest of the papers but found nothing. Lupin knew Harry wouldn't, no, couldn't accept the immense responsibility of being Head Boy. What was he thinking?!

Harry looked at the other paper, he wouldn't need any more books this year, but one thing did interest him. 'The Christmas Ball'. Was this new? Harry thought so until he noticed that it was an annual event held for seventh years (+ 1 guest). There would also be a Valentines ball and an end of year ball as well! Boys would strictly have to wear house colored robes, and girls could wear any color robes they liked! Harry spent the next hour dreaming of taking Ginny with him to the balls. A voice at the back of his mind kept saying, 'what are you doing? You're dreaming of taking Ginny to the ball when she got attacked, probably because Snape or Malfoy told Voldemort about their relationship. Then a Death Eater was sent after her!' Harry knew his brain was right, but all the same, he couldn't stop himself thinking of her.

Later on, some healers came and waved their wands over him and muttered incantations under their breath. As they were doing this, Harry saw some silvery wisps going down through the floor, and he assumed to the basement. A n elderly healer told him it went down to the labs to be interpreted and that it was nothing to worry about. He would be out tomorrow whatever happened.

Night fell, and Harry surprised himself by falling asleep very quickly. He entered not a dream, but a frozen image. It was a boy about his age with blonde hair. He was kneeling in front of a large chair with a figure on it. His arm was outstretched and bore a mark on it. A skull and a snake. The image started to move.

"Draco, I am glad you decided to join me." The figure in the chair continued. "Now you have heard what it is I want you to do, go! I will see you soon." The blonde haired boy got to his feet and left the hall through a door at the back. Harry thought he could see a silhouette, but he must have been mistaken. 'There is no big hall near Hogwarts,' he told himself.

The Dark Lord Voldemort seemed to suddenly become aware that somebody was there as he called out...

Harry woke up sweating. Was Malfoy really a Death Eater or did Voldemort send him another dream? If he did, then why was he surprised when he felt another presence? Then he realized that it was exactly this kind of thing that got S-Sirius killed at the ministry. Harry swore to himself that he would try and give Occlumency another try.

He looked to the side of him and saw that Ginny had been moved to the bed next to him. Making sure nobody was around, he crept out of bed and over to hers. He sat on the seat next to her and stroked her soft ginger hair. He let out a sigh and she turned to face him with her eyes open.

"Hello again," she whispered to him and smiled sleepily.

"How are you feeling? Can you remember who it was or anything?"

"I'm ok thanks but no, I don't remember who. I was just getting a drink when I heard a woman's voice. She tried to talk to me and I was just about to turn around to see who it was when some shouted the curse. I think it was directed at her, not me but she disapperated before it got her and sent me something non-verbally at the same time. After that, nothing."

"A woman?" Harry asked mystified.

"I know. She was new as well. I had never heard her voice before. I'd like to know who it was though. She might be able to tell me what she did to me."

"I'd like to know as well," he grimaced. "Oh, before I say goodnight, here's your Hogwart's letter. I hope you did well in your OWL’s! Goodnight." He handed her the envelope and leant down to kiss her forehead as he could see she was tired.

"Wait. I want to open them now...but not alone. Would you stay?"

"Of course."

"Here goes then." She opened the envelope and pulled out her OWL result sheet.

"Well done Ginny! 7 OWL’s! That's fantastic!"

"Thanks! Mum'll be pleased. I got more than Fred and George and as many as Ron!"

"Good, oh! You know I talked to you about me not going back to Hogwarts? Well I'm not. I got a letter from Dumbledore. He wants me to stay, says it will give me a better chance against Voldemort, in the long run."

"Oh good! Any other news I missed?"

"Erm...well, I'm head boy, but I’m going to turn it down."

"Why? You'll make a great Head Boy!"

"I was just getting to that," he said pretending to be annoyed. "I'm going to be away from school so much, there'd no point in me having the responsibility of running the prefects and countless other vents. I mean the only reason I’m coming back is because Dumbledore, all he asked was that I completed my NEWT’s. In my spare time I’ve got to study for them and for trying to destroy Voldemort. I can't do things like Quidditch or organizing events."

"Wait, you're still quidditch captain as well?"

"Yeah, I’ll have to turn that down too."

"But don't you want to be playing when Gryffindor win the cup in your seventh year?"

"Of course I do, but I’d rather see Voldemort dead, because then I know I can be at peace for a while. I'd rather live to see my children play quidditch, live to see them win the cup in their seventh year."

"I know, of course you do. But do you have to turn down both? Ok, maybe quidditch, but how about Head Boy? You're not doing it on your own. When you're away, the Head Girl can deal with things."

"No she can't," he blurted out.

"Why not?" she asked curiously.

"Because," Harry's mind woke furiously to make up an excuse because he knew Hermione would want to tell her the good news herself. "Because there'll be so much work as well as NEWT’s, that's why there's a Head Boy and Girl, not a Head Person," he finished desperately.

"You could have a point, although I think that's more to do with equality of the sexes. And of course, you did just make that up. There is more and I will find out Harry."

"You know me too well Ginerva Weasley. So you should know that I’m going to say Goodnight again. We both need our sleep."

"I've been waiting for you to say that. It's almost like another noble thing."
"What? Is it noble to want my..." he wanted to say Girlfriend but couldn't,"...you to get a decent night's sleep, so you can tell your family the OWL results?"

"I suppose not, but I want you to know that next year, I’ll help with whatever I can. Even if that's coaching the quidditch team and helping to organize events. Maybe that will help you sleep? Good night."

"Night Gin. I-I love you." He felt a power surge through him when he said those three little words with complete feeling. He went back to his bed, happy from his conversation.

Ginny called softly across to him, "I love you too Harry," even more power flowed through him with them. "Oh, and Happy Birthday!"

His Birthday! He had forgotten. He was seventeen. Ginny had been the first person to wish him Happy Birthday. He fell asleep, his earlier dream forgotten for the time-being, and the prospect of Ginny, presents and going home tomorrow, stuck fast in his mind.

CHAPTER 4 - SOME INTERESTING NEWS (PART 1)

"Wotcher Harry!" He woke up next morning to Tonks with her usual vibrant bubblegum-pink hair.

"Hi Tonks," he yawned, sitting up slowly.

"How're you doing?"

"I'm good thanks, and you seem alright I’m guessing?"

"Of course, I’m fine."

"Where is everyone?"

"Over there with Ginny. She's speaking now, actually she was speaking last night and spoke with you already!" She gave a wicked grin as Harry started to explain why he had got out of bed in the middle of the night to talk to another patient. "Don't worry, oh, and congratulations on your Head Boy badge! You already know her OWL results so there's not really much other news."

"How come you're not over there now?"

"Why, don't you want me here?" she laughed. "I saw her earlier and thought you looked a bit lonely."

"Thanks, but um, I need to speak to Lu-, Re-, Professor Lupin about erm... something."

"It's alright, you don't have to explain to me. I'll go get him."

"Thanks," he said as she walked off in the direction of Lupin. Harry allowed himself to sink back into his pillows as he wandered over and drew the curtains.

"Sonorosno," he muttered and at Harry's bewildered look, “Stops anybody listening in. A bit like on big wizarding events like the quidditch world cup, but for everybody not just muggles..."he trailed off.

"Well, Professor, I can't take the Head Boy badge. I'm going to be away quite a lot searching for horcruxes so I’ll have no time for my duties. I also have to tell Professor McGonagle that I can't be quidditch captain. Do you know when I’ll see her?"

"Harry. I'm afraid you can't turn down Head Boy. It's impossible. You see, the Headmaster doesn't choose the Head boy and girl. He only chooses the prefects. In Professor D... In my office there are four hidden portraits which only the three Heads can see. So in our case that's me, you and Hermione. They are the ones that chose you two and your predecessors. They advise us all year round and help with any tasks you have in mind. They are going to help you find the Horcruxes, or at least use their wisdom and ability to give you and idea of where they are. The want rid of Voldemort as much as you do Harry."

"What about Slytherin?"

"Salazar Slytherin also does, I can't tell you now, but I do have some interesting news to tell the Order tonight about him. You can't sit in on the meeting, but I’ll tell you tonight, after it."

"Ok, carry on."

"Yes, in the end, they are going to play a big part in defeating Voldemort. Another reason you aren't allowed to turn it down, is that you get equal status with teachers. This means, with my permission, you can leave school grounds whenever you want to. You can have your own dormitory if you wish and for you both there are no curfews."

"What about Ron, and lessons, and duties?"

"I'm afraid Ron must stay at Hogwarts. I'll let him go with you if I’m there too. Whenever you go away I can excuse it as Head boy and Girl responsibilities but with Ron, I can't do that. He can go away with you when I’m coming, but otherwise no." Lupin finished then started again, this time with a twinkle in his eye, "Although, I’m sure he can be ill a couple of times in the year. Just don't mention it to Molly..."

"Thanks Professor."

"No problem Harry. Professor McGonagle will be here for the Order Meeting tonight, so I'm sure you can talk to her then. Is that all?"

"One more thing. Have you told Hermione and Ron any of this stuff? I've told Hermione and she put up the same argument as you, but I’m telling Ron when I next see him. However, I haven't told them that you're Head boy. That's your job." Lupin smiled as he got up and muttered, "sonorosnei," which Harry could only assume was the counter-spell for the other one he had muttered earlier. Then Lupin drew the curtains and walked out of Mungo's.

Harry noticed Mrs. Weasley talking to a healer and looking very happy. She made her way over to Harry as soon as she saw he was alone.

"Hello Harry dear, did you have a good night?"

"Yes thanks, Is there any news?" he asked signaling to the healer.

"Yes, you're going home as planned, today, and Ginny, who's improved dramatically, is coming home tomorrow! Isn't that great!"

"Yeah, erm...I'm sorry. I meant about the curses though. Are there any results?"

"Well no. The normal tests and the abnormal , more advanced tests found nothing. It's very strange, which makes us think it was one of you-know-who's followers even more."

"Ok, thanks. Will I be going home with Ron and Hermione, because of the Order meeting?"

"Yes, why?"

"I, erm..." Harry had forgotten to tell Lupin about the Sectumsempra and the Prince. He thought now was the best time to do it. "I, well...did Ginny tell you what happened?"

"Yes Dear."

"And did Ron tell you?"

"Yes, he stood outside the kitchen door with Hermione holding him back."

"Well, did they tell you that the curse used on me was slightly like the curse I used un Draco Malfoy last year?"

"No, they didn't," she said grimly. "If you know anything Harry, you know you should tell us."

"Yeah, well I do know some stuff that might be important."

"Of course you can't say it here. I'll have to postpone the Order meeting until later. When you're out you can sit in on the meeting and say what you know." With that, she walked away to arrange the meeting.

"Ron! Why did you have to go and poke Neville's Mimbulous Mimbletonia with my hair slide?"

"I didn't mean o. I was demonstrating my quidditch save against Bill. Neville just walked past!"

Harry tried not to laugh at his friends who were covered in the same green goop as he was two years before on the Hogwarts express. "Guys! Come over here!"

"Hi Harry," Hermione said as she cleaned the clime off herself and Ron. "Your cuts look much better today."

"Cuts?" he asked.

"Didn't Ron tell you? Here's a mirror." Harry looked at himself and gasped. There were red, criss-cross-crossed lines all over his face, covering his scar.

"Better?” he asked amazed. "What were they like before?"

"Well they were like that but more gauged and deep. The cuts are cursed so you can't heal them like Madam Pomphrey would. But you can use this cream," she said pointing to a tub on his bedside table, "to speed it up. You'll probably have to take it home," Hermione said knowingly.

Then a healer came in and waved her hand over Harry's body, as he had seen Madam Pomphrey do many times, and felt his face and body tingle as the cuts healed over. Hermione looked astonished that she had got something wrong, and as the healer saw her she explained that Harry had used the cream long enough for the curse to be lifted. She walked off and Ron Cracked up laughing.

"Well it's not like you ever get anything wrong," she snapped, "and you don't see me laughing about it." She flounced off, her bushy hair bouncing as she walked.

"What's got into her?" Ron asked trying unsuccessfully to stop laughing.

"Ron, you've known her for six years and around two months, you of all people should know she hates getting things wrong."

"Ok, there is that," Ron said, his laughing finally stopping. "But ever since the attack, she's been a bit tense."

"Have you ever thought it was because two of her friends could have been killed in what she thought was a safe place."

"Well she wasn't like this after...after...before the holidays, and that was Hogwarts!"

"Yeah? Well never mind. I'm sure it's nothing."

"You only say that when you need to do something. What is it this time?"

"You know I have to prepare what I’m going to say to the Order. I don't want to miss anything out do I?"

"You don't?"

"Wait...I did tell you didn't I?" Ron shook his head. "Sorry mate. I'm kind of talking to the Order about Sectumsepra. You put it into my head, and it made me think that Voldemort has Snape doing something to his spells, upgrading them or something. I need to tell the Order about the book and stuff in it. I might get into trouble, but if we can get to counter them or something, then it will be worth it. You made some notes on them, and I just want to know as much as possible. I wondered if you could maybe..."

"Go and get them? Of course mate, no problem. I'll go and catch dad or someone else from the order to apparate me."

"Thank mate, I owe you one." Ron and Harry both grinned at each other before Ron went off to the Burrow.

"Ron had been gone around ten seconds before Hermione reappeared.

"Is it true?" she demanded.

"Is what true?"

"That you're talking to the Order about Snape and his book. Well, is it true?" she asked again impatiently.

"Err...yeah, but how did you know?"

"Don't be stupid Harry, I could see you wanted to tell us something, and after Ron started laughing, you might not get a chance."

"So you weren't annoyed?"

"No I was annoyed, but not that annoyed. I only went off because I knew you would tell Ron. It was the most logical solution."

"Right, um...Hermione? You do know NEWT’s aren't until the end of this school year. It's still the summer holidays!"

"Of course," she said, still tense, but slightly less so. "But still, you can never be too prepared. They might make us write down all of our career choices. They do that at Durmstang. Of course Viktor didn't have to write anything, he's already an international quidditch star."

"Still in contact with Vicky then?" Ron asked from behind.

"Ron, he's staying in Diagon Alley. He came to your house around five days ago!"

"Oh yeah...anyway, here you are Harry."

"I still can't believe you took notes from that book Ron," Hermione stated.

"Well, it paid off in the end didn't it?" Ron answered.

"Stop it guys, this is a hospital remember. Now are either of you going to help me sort out these notes, or do I have to do it all myself?" Harry asked looking at the large pile of scrap parchment.

"We'll help," they said together in the same dull tone.

They all spent the rest of the morning sorting out Ron's notes, which had been written with one of Fred and George's broken spell checking pens on scraps of parchment.

"You're going to need to make notes," Hermione announced, "with a proper pen," she added looking accusingly at Ron.

She produced three muggle pens and a book of lined paper out of her bag.

"Where's the ink?" Ron asked.

"These are biro's Ron, they already have ink in them," she said passing each of them some paper and a pen.

"Biro's? What kind of a stupid muggle name is that? Crazy..."

"Come on mate," Harry laughed at his friend Ron's reaction to the normal pen that muggles used everyday. They started making the notes and were silent apart from the times when one of them spotted a particularly funny spelling mistake made by the dodgy pens. Mostly Ron laughing at things like Buzzy Latte (muffliato) or Heavy Pauper (levicorpus).

Finally a healer came to say that Harry could go home. They collected his few things together said goodbye to Ginny and Tonks, who was sitting with her, and went to catch the Knight bus to the Burrow, where they would then go to headquarters.

"I don't see why we couldn't have asked Tonks to apparate us back," Ron said, turning a pale shade of green as the bus lurched forwards.

"I didn't want her to go to any trouble, and besides, she was keeping Ginny company," Hermione answered as everybody fell into silence as Ron grew greener and greener.

Harry thought it was best to keep Ron talking so he said, "Have you got any Head boy news?"

"N," Hermione said, "but I really want to talk to him. He should know that I won't be in school all the time. I've sorted it all out with Lupin, but he wouldn't tell me who."

"Don't worry, he already knows," Harry grinned.

"How do you know that? Who is it?" Hermione asked quickly.

"Yeah mate, who?" Ron asked trying unsuccessfully to keep his mind off the bus.

"You're looking at him," Harry grinned even wider.

"What, I can't see anybody from Hogwarts on here."

Hermione let out a small scream as the bus came to a halt, and the three of them fell in front of the Burrow. "Don't be stupid Ron. Harry's Head boy!" she gave him a big hug. Ron just looked at his two friends, now Head boy and girl, before turning around and walking away from them and the Burrow.

Hehehe, cliffy! remember feedback link is in the siggy! I'd love to know what you think!

A.N: edited version up soon

CHAPTER 4 - SOME INTERESTING NEWS (PART 2)

“What’s all that about?” Harry asked as Hermione led him towards the Burrow. “Shouldn’t one of us go after him?”

“We haven’t got time,” she said exasperatingly calm. “You need to be at Headquarters in five minutes. Dump some clothes in your room.”

“I only have the notes which I need for the meeting.”

“Fine, hold on, I’ll try and apparate us over to Grimmauld Place.” Harry held onto Hermione’s arm as she apparated over to Headquarters. When there, they both concentrated on the space between 11 and 13 and soon, Harry’s house appeared.

They entered the house as quietly as possible so they didn’t awake the portrait of Mrs Black, Sirius’ mother.

Mrs Weasley appeared from round a doorway and beckoned to Harry and Hermione.

“Hermione dear, Fleur’s in the kitchen, why don’t you go and join her. Harry, come in here and sit next to Remus.” Mrs Weasley pointed to Lupin who smiled.

Harry walked over to Lupin, but before he could reach him, Mad-eye Moody steeped in front of him.

“Alastor, what are you doing to poor Harry?” Lupin asked. Moody conjured a secrecy sensor, not unlike the one Filch had used on them last year at Hogwarts, and started waving it around Harry.

“Can’t be too careful. Could be a Death Eater impersonating him.”

“Professor,” even though Moody had never actually taught him because he’d been locked in a box, Harry still felt the need to call him ‘Professor’ or ‘Sir’. “I just apparated here with Hermione, we went from Mungo’s, to the Burrow, then here.”

“A Death Eater would probably say that…”

“Don’t be stupid Alastor,” Minerva McGonagall addressed Moody. “Harry’s as real as you or me. Now sit down, I believe we only need Tonks now.”

Harry sat down next to Lupin and a witch he didn’t know. There was only one vacant seat left, which belonged to Tonks. Everybody was silent, not wanting to say anything important in case it was overheard by prying ears.

Around ten minutes after Harry had arrived, another ‘CRACK’ filled the air, and a few seconds after that, Tonks tumbled through the door, knocking over the umbrella-stand.

Mrs Black’s voice echoed throughout the house. “FILTHY HALF-BREEDS,” she screeched as Tonks hastily apologised and tried to pull the red, faded curtains over her. “MUDBLOODS! BISMIRCHING THE HOUSE OF MY ANCESTORS.” Mrs Weasley went to join Tonks and a few seconds later, everybody was in their seats. The Order was just waiting for Moody and Kingsley to finish their conversation before the meeting could start.

Harry took this time to look around the room. Unlike the rest of the house, this room was well lit and didn’t feel cold or bleak. He didn’t remember going in it before, in fact, he had definitely never seen it before. It had deep red wallpaper and in the ceiling was hanging a chandelier, the cut glass forcing light to reflect around the room. Like in most other rooms, there were cabinets lining the walls, but instead of Black heirlooms and other dangerous objects, there was Order things. In the cabinet straight in front of him was a phoenix badge. There was a sword that apparently had been used in one of the bottles hundreds of years ago. There were pictures from last time the order had formed. Besides the pictures was a group of faded documents indicating that the Order of the phoenix dated back to the Founders.

“Professor?” Harry asked Lupin. “I thought the Order was founded for the defeat of Lord Voldemort, why are their papers saying that it wasn’t?”

“Even I thought that until a couple of weeks ago. It’s all to do with what I need to say today.” That’s all Lupin could say before Kingsley went back to his seat, and Moody stood at the head of the large mahogany table.

“You’ve been called here today to listen to Remus’ very important news. We also have a guest here today who’s going to tell us something of apparent interest4. Welcome Harry,” everybody clapped after Moody had spoken. “Right everybody, you know the drill.” Everybody got up and stood in a long line, Lupin being near the front and Tonks being near the back. People seemed to know where they were supposed to be. Everyone apart from Harry.

“Sir? Where do I go?” Harry called out.

“You just get to watch Harry,” Lupin replied,” just stand over there.”

Harry got out of the way just in time, for as soon as he had, a miniature ball of fire appeared where he had been standing. It moved to the centre of the table and started to grow. It grew bigger at first, but then seemed to also uncurl. The flames at one end turned into a neck, and a head with a beak uncurled out of that. The opposite end of the ball grew too, it grew into a tail. Finally, two outstretched wings grew out of both sides. Finally Harry could see that it was a burning phoenix. The flames started solidifying into flesh, bones and feathers. Even though the flames extinguished themselves, the bright colours stayed stained on, and the feathers still seemed to flicker and dance slightly. Harry wasn’t sure if it was just an illusion, or the real thing.

The bird, now completely still and standing on the table finally opened its eyes. A stream of fire shot out and covered the line which stood before it. It was making sure there were no intruders in their midst. Flies and other bugs flew across the room and burnt to a crisp in the flickering flame.

Finally the fire receded back into the phoenix’s eyes and it flew to Harry and landed on his shoulder.

“Fawkes?” Harry asked. The great bird let out a small ‘caw’ which Harry took to mean yes. He stroked Dumbledore’s phoenix before it flew to a stand on the other side of the room.

The Order members went back to their chairs and everybody apart from Lupin sat down.

“As you all know,” he began,” I am the new Headmaster of Hogwarts following the death of our Great Albus Dumbledore’s tragic death. Just before the end of the meeting we are going to a have a minute’s silence to commemorate him, and to respect what he did for all of us. As I am now Headmaster, this means I have been able to talk to the founders. After Albus’ death, they have agreed that they will help us against Voldemort,” at the mention of Voldemort’s name, several people in the room flinched and whimpered.

“Does this mean they’re going to let you tell us what they tell you?” Professor McGonagall asked.

“Within reason, yes. Today I’m going to tell you some news, take it how you will, but I am going to warn you that both bits will be slightly shocking.” Harry listened attentively while Lupin spoke o his first meeting with the founders.

“All of them are very angry that an heir of one of them is trying to rid the wizarding world of non-purebloods. Surprising as it is, Salazar Slytherin is most angry. Yes, I thought Slytherin hated Muggle-born witches and wizards, half bloods and ‘Blood traitors’ as much as Voldemort does. That’s where we all thought he had gotten it from, but no. At first Slytherin tried to stop anybody other that purebloods coming to Hogwarts, but in the end he gave up. He realised that if they all married each other, cousins etc, that in the end, they would be weak and die out. They’d be weak because of all the genetic issues. Everybody would be one large family, and really, they would all have to be put in one house, therefore eliminating the competitiveness between the houses. No, Slytherin didn’t like that idea. Also, all this muggle-born stuff was jeopardising his friendship with the other houses. Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and even his best friend Godric Gryffindor were staring to dislike him. He stopped being prejudiced against people, and even welcomed them with open arms. He broke-up with his fiancé who was a pure-blood because he had fallen in love with a muggle. It was only after he married her that he found out his ex-fiancé was pregnant. His wife soon died, so he decided to do the right thing for his child and married the witch. They had a daughter and a son. The daughter was his eldest and was illegitimate as he wasn’t married to her mother when she was born. Her bloodline died out a couple of generations afterwards, and the friendship between Slytherin and Gryffindor with it. However, his son’s bloodline thrived and is here today in the form of Lord Voldemort. Slytherin doesn’t want to lose his last living relative, but he would rather do that, than let the school be destroyed, No, his school be destroyed. There is one more thing which I will ask somebody to research more on later. The Founders founded not only Hogwarts, but the Order of the Phoenix. We’ll discuss who’ll research that later.

After Lupin’s speech, everybody was murmuring to each other.

Bill stood up and asked, “How are they going to help?”

“There’s a special spell that they found in the library of Alexandria, the largest wizarding library ever, that enables you to extract memories out of pictures as long as the portrait is willing. They’re hoping that by guiding me, Harry and Hermione through their memories, that it might help everybody find a way to destroy Voldemort.” Harry took Lupin to mean that by looking through the Founder’s memories, he might be able to find out what the other Horcruxes are.

“Founders may have also found another way in which they can help, but they won’t yet reveal to me what it is. However, they did say that it wouldn’t be until the very end.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” asked Moody. “Until the very end…of what? When is the en? Remus, you need to get better answers,” Harry was about to defend Lupin himself, but Tonks got there first.

“Remus has done his best, and has brought very valuable information. The last thing vaguely valuable you told us was two years ago, and that was that something was hidden in the department of mysteries! And we already knew that!”

Kingsley stood up and told both Moody(who’s eye was spinning furiously) and Tonks (who’s anger had caused a mini thunderstorm to erupt over her head; the only thing she had to protect her red and black hair was a small, pink, sodden cocktail umbrella that was meant to be used in piña coladas,) to calm down. “I believe that now Remus has made his report, Harry has something he would like to tell us regarding the attack. We have Ron’s and Ginny’s account, now let’s listen to Harry.” He sat down and Harry stood up.

“As Kingsley said,” he began nervously, “I’m going to tell you about last week, but that’s not all. It’s also about Snape…”

“Professor Snape Harry,” Lupin added.

“Professor Snape, yeah, it’s also about him.” Harry launched into the story about the half-blood prince, stumbling over his words and repeatedly looking down at his notes. He told them about the potions tips and how good they were.

“Wait,” at this point Mr Weasley spoke out, “You took orders from a book after what happened with Ginny?”

Harry didn’t know what to say to this. The pure disappointment in Mr Weasley’s voice made him feel ashamed. He felt his cheeks start to grow slightly pink.

“Don’t worry,” Lupin told him, “Carry on.”

“As I looked further and further into the book, I also found spells.” Harry listed all the spells and what they did. “They were all harmless until I got to Sectumsempra. I tried it out on Draco Malfoy, It was horrible, like an invisible sword slashing him all over. According to Ron, that was kind of what happened to me.”

“That’s good to know,” said Moody, “but what’s that got to do with Severus?”

“The night Snape left, I found out it was his book. He made up all of the spells and potions tips. I think Lord Voldemort might be making him upgrade the spells. Maybe making them more powerful? I think that’s what got me.”

“Harry? You said that all this is in a book, do you still have it?” asked an elderly witch.

“It’s at Hogwarts, in the room of requirement, I’m sure I could get it when I go back to school.”

“Ok Harry,” Lupin began, “You’ve been immensely helpful, but now we’ve got to arrange the security rotas and other boring stuff like that Harry. I think that it’s best now that you head on up to bed.”

“But…” Harry protested.

“I know you want to help dear, but let us take care of this for now.” Mrs Weasley shooed him out of the room. “Ron’s already up there,” she said as she pointed to the stairs. “So is a change of clothes and your pyjamas.”

Harry sighed, at least Ron was here. He hoped he had calmed down by now, but as Harry entered where he was going to sleep for the night, Ron haughtily turned away. Harry lay down on his bed and thought angrily, ‘he hasn’t got anything to be upset about!’ With a pang he realised he hadn’t got any presents yet. Had everybody forgotten his birthday?

With these uncomfortable thought in his mind, Harry fell into a very uneasy sleep, not knowing what tomorrow would bring.

The beginning’s quite strange…but bear with me…it gets better…(I hope…) lol!

“We meet at last,” Lord Voldemort said, his hood covering his snake-like face.

“This isn’t the first time you know,” Harry replied, wearing his school robes.

“Maybe, but it will be the last time.” Voldemort finally lifted his hood to reveal Ron.

“Potter, why are you wearing my dress robes?” he asked with a twisted expression on his face and a bitter tone.

“What? No I’m not!” Harry looked down and found that, in fact, he had somehow changed into Ron’s horrible dress robes from the Yule Ball.

“I have a present for you,” the VoldeRon said in the same bitter tone and handed out a wrapped birthday present. Harry took it suspiciously and started to open it. He dropped it as it grew into Severus Snape. However, this was no ordinary Snape, but an even more sallow-faced, hook-nosed, greasy-haired Snape.

“I’ve been improved Potter,” he spat out in an even more despising and (id possible) sarcastic tone.

At that moment, Harry woke up for the third time that night. Cursing, he sat up and reached for his glasses. Harry didn’t know if he realised it was going to be a bad day when he knocked his glasses onto the floor, causing them to break, or when he got up and tripped over Kreacher who was lying on the floor muttering to himself.

After Harry had picked himself up off the floor and fixed his glasses, he looked over to Ron’s bed, only to find he had already gone downstairs.

“He hasn’t forgiven me then,” Harry rhought out loud just as Ron came into the room.

“Who hasn’t forgiven you?” Ron asked in a voice, not so different from the one in his dreams.

“Erm…well, you…I think. What happened yesterday? Where did you go?”

“Why do you need to know? Is it one of your Head Boy duties?”

“What?”

“You heard.”

“Do you actually think I want to have this job?”

“Well it’s not like you tried to stop Lupin giving it to you, I haven’t seen you talking to him.”

“Well you haven’t been there all the time have you? I saw Lupin yesterday morning about it. Apparently it’s not up to him, it’s up to the Founders.”

“Yeah right, you’ve been up to Du-,” he broke at the mention of Dumbledore. “To the headmaster’s office before, and have never spoken about their portraits. Percy was Head Boy, and so was Bill, they haven’t said anything either!”

“Look, I’d love to tell you why, but I need to ask Lupin’s permission first, because he told me half the stuff in the order meeting last night. I really don’t want to become Head Boy! Do you really think I want to be organizing balls when I could be searching for stuff that might kill Voldemort?”

“Personally, I think you’d take the organizing of the balls.”

“Yeah? That shows how much you know me. I’d rather live my life in peace without worrying about Dark Wizards as soon as I can.”

“If it means so much to you, then why didn’t you say no to the badge?”

“I couldn’t.”

“No, you mean you didn’t want to.”

“No, I mean I physically couldn’t. It’s impossible! I might explain it to you later, but right now, I’m going to go and have breakfast.” Harry walked out of the room, feeling he hadn’t resolved anything with Ron. He wasn’t even sure what was bothering him!

Harry strode downstairs, half-thinking there would be a surprise party for him. Instead he found Mrs Weasley waiting for him with a large, full English breakfast. He thanked her, and while he ate it, they engaged in polite small talk where he learnt that he and Tonks were going to pick up Ginny later that day.

Until then, Harry half-heartedly searched for the mysterious R.A.B. throughout the house and found that Sirius’ brother, Regulus had the initials. However, he was dead. “I’ll take it up with Hermione anyway,” he thought.

Harry tried to stay away from everybody as much as he could. Well, if you could call Ron, Lupin and Kreacher everybody. The rest of the Order (plus everybody else) had gone to the Burrow for some unknown reason. Usually Harry would have been fine with Ron and Lupin, but Ron had gone back to ignoring him, and Lupin was too busy to talk! Nobody was paying attention to him at all, it was almost like being back at the Dursley’s!

When Tonks finally came to pick Harry up, he was in a terrible mood. He wasn’t really looking forward to picking up Ginny, that would mean going back to the Burrow and facing the Order…and Ron.

They had just arrived outside Harry’s when somebody’s patronus came to tell Tonks something.

“Tonks? What is it?” Harry asked, watching Tonks’ worried expression.

“There’s been an attack,” she said, her voice quivering slightly.

“What? Wher…” He didn’t have time to finish his sentence as Tonks grabbed his arm and apparated him to somewhere he knew very well.

In front of him stood a perfectly normal house. Just like all the other pristine ones in the street. Emerald green grass and a big shiny car outside. A red front door and lots of pretty flowers. It was perfect, apart from one thing.

The dark mark hung over the red bricks like a green omen.

An omen of death.

An omen of death over No.4 Privet drive.

An omen of death over his home.

“Tonks?” Harry asked, “What’s going on?”

“There were two death eaters here,” Mrs Figg was standing next to them. “One was tall, the other short; as soon as I saw them, I owled Remus.” That’s whose patronus it was, thought Harry while Mrs Figg was muttering. “I never heard them say it, but I’m sure there were a few flashes. Oh, this is such a mess, the whole ministry’ll have to be here. Lot of good they’ll do…don’t believe a word they say…not after the dementors…not since Diggory died.”

“Has anybody come out?” Lupin asked as he apparated into the street.

“I haven’t seen anything.”

“Fine, we’ll wait for more Order members to come,” he replied.

“What?” Harry asked frustratedly. “That’s my family in there! That’s been my house for seventeen years and they’ve looked after me for all that time, and now I’m just supposed to let them die in there knowing I could have saved them?”

“Harry, that’s probably what they want you to do. They want you to go in there, they know you’ll want to save them. Just wait…not long…just for now.”

“I can’t!” Harry ran into the house and found a thick fog. “Lumos,” he whispered, hoping it would help him to see. There was a clattering in the kitchen. Keeping low, Harry went to investigate, moving quickly and quietly he waded through the chaos of the hall and the living room, not noticing Dudley and Vernon lieing face down on the ground.

In the kitchen, he found Petunia crying. It was a few seconds before he realised that the fog had cleared, and that the kitchen was a mess. Smashed plates and bowls were scattered all over the floor, along with cutlery, saucepans, a coffee-maker and the various other appliances the Dursleys had.

“Aunt Petunia, are you okay?” he asked, genuinely concerned.

“They came. Two of them, in black. Just like on the news. I thought they were just normal…but…they were one of you.” When he heard the bitterness in her voice as she mentioned magic, all his concern fell away. “One was tall, and the other was short. They never took off their masks. Vernon got in the way.” Stupid man, Harry thought, you never get in their way. “He told them nobody comes barging into his house like that, then the small one shot something out of his wand, an-and there was a green flash.” Harry knew he should feel sadness for the death of his uncle, but instead, he felt nothing.

Was that awful? he asked himself, but didn’t have time to answer, as Petunia carried on.

“I wanted to go and see him, but they started to blast stuff around. They overturned sofas and tipped out all of the drawers, but with their wands.” After the second time she said the ‘w’ word she clamped her hand over her mouth like what she had said was taboo. When she had slightly calmed down, she said more, “They couldn’t find what they were looking for. They went upstairs, and that was when Dudders came home.” Dudley too? he thought, the only blood-family he had left right now was Petunia, a strange feeling crept into his mind. “He took one look at Vernon lieing down and exploded,” Aren’t you supposed to be sad when your husband dies? Does she know he’s dead? “He started shouting and they came down. The boy raised his… He was going to shoot the green thing at him again but the taller one stopped him. He shot a blue one into him and collapsed. I want to se them, but I can’t. The door, it won’t let me.” This was when she just broke down. She sank to the floor, moaning and groaning.

Harry didn’t quite know what to say. Should he say meaningless words of comfort? Tell her everything would be okay? Tell her people would be coming to help very soon? Should he tell her that he was the only family left? Wait, the old DE had shot something blue at Dudley. The killing curse was green, so, “Dudley’s not dead.”

“What?” Petunia asked as she snapped out of her wailing. “Of course he’s not dead you silly boy. He’s just as alive as Vernon!”

“Well, erm, Aunt Petunia, I’m afraid Dudley slightly more alive than Vernon.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Uncle Vernon’s dead.”

ok… I promised another update (sorry it took so long!)…so here you are! feedback links in the siggy!!

[A.N: i left you in the middle of a converstion so i'll just repeat the end of it...]

“What do you know? You’re not a doctor. You haven’t even seen him!”

“I know he’s dead. The curse that hit him, it’s the same one that hit my friend, my p-parents and Professor D-dumbledore.”

Petunia’s face fell when she knew her husband was dead, tears streamed down her face, but when she heard Dumbledore was dead, her face snapped up. “What,” her eyes were full of fear. “When? No, he can’t be.”

Harry was now the one with tears rolling down his face. “Last summer.”

“What happened?” she asked, still terrified.

“The Death Eaters attacked the castle. One of them cornered him, he was young and had never killed before. No one could stop him. Not even Dumbledore. Then, one of teachers. He betrayed everyone.”

“Harry, I-I knew that the Avada Kedavra curse is the killing curse, but I just couldn’t believe it. Now Dumbledore’s dead. I need to face it all. I need to tell you everything.”

“What? Petunia, can’t it wait?”

“Yes, but not long, not long at all. I don’t know everything, only what he told me.”

“What? Who told you what? Never mind, are the death eaters still here?”

“No, they tried to come in, but they couldn’t. Then they disappeared when they couldn’t get here. Lily and Potter used to do it all the time. Whenever they visited.” Harry had never heard his aunt talk about her sister. “Sometimes it was just Lily, she just appeared with a ‘crack’. Sometimes with James and their friends. I think there was Remus, that small weedy boy and Sirius. I always thought it was cheeky, him bringing his friends to stay. Lily always brought two friends, sometimes three, but there were always the same two. Phoebe and Rachel they were called, very nice, but they’re both dead now.”

“Aunt Petunia, I really need to hear all this, but not now. If you want Dudley tostay alive, then we need to get him out of here.”

“How?” she asked, eyeing the wand in his hand.

Harry thought of all his friends, together, happy after defeating Voldemort, and shouted out, “EXPECTO PATRONUM!” A silvery stag erupted out the end of his wand and circled around the room. Harry was going to send a message to the outside people, but didn’t know how. As if on cue, Prongs whinnied slightly and snuffled against Harry’s wand. Harry thought of his message, knowing what to do now, he lifted his wand to his temple. Like he had seen Dumbledore do many times, he let the thought clasp onto his wand, small tendrils entwined round the tip, like small membranes, and he pulled it away. The slivery thread felt cool as Harry drew it out of his head. He had never really noticed how similar the substance of the memory was to the substance of Prongs. He placed his wand onto the stag and the thread melted into him.

“Prongs, tell Lupin, come back.” He watched as Prongs galloped through the invisible barrier and out to the Order.

Soon, the Patronus was back with Lupin and Tonks.

“Harry are you ok?” Lupin asked. “There were Death Eaters here?”

“I’m fine…and they’re gone. But, they got Dudley, and my uncle.”

“I’m sorry Harry,” Tonks said sympathetically.

“Don’t worry, we weren’t that close, but Dudley’s not dead. He needs treating. They shot him with something blue, I don’t know what.”

“Thanks, we’ll get him to Mungo’s ASAP.” Tonks hurried off before another word could be said.

“Ok Harry, we need to get your Aunt out, she needs treating too. You can see her tomorrow.”

“Why tomorrow and not tonight?” Lupin clearly didn’t want to answer this question and had a mysterious glint in his eye.

“Your day has been quite eventful enough Harry,” he thought up feebly.

“Erm, ok then…Anyway, she can’t get out, she said she’s tried already.”

“Well, we can try again. If it doesn’t work, we can work out what’s wrong.”

Petunia blinked and stared at Lupin. “Remus?” she asked disbelievingly, “is that you? I haven’t seen you for almost twenty years!”

“I know…I’m afraid we don’t have time for a reunion right now. Petunia, I need you to have complete trust in me and Harry now. Whatever we ask you to do, you must do it, do you understand?” She nodded slightly fearfully. “Ok then, can you walk over to the door?”

Petunia walked shakily to the door, and to Harry’s and Lupin’s surprise, a stone boulder appeared, covering the entrance of the door.

“It needs something,” Lupin said. These words brought Harry back to when he and Dumbledore had gone for the horcrux.

“I wonder,” he thought out loud.

“What? What is it Harry?” Lupin asked.

“Well, last year, there were protections…” he trailed off and picked up the sharpest knife he could see.

“What are you doing?” Petunia asked.

“He knows what he’s doing,” Lupin said, trying to reassure himself as well as Petunia. Harry cut his Hand and firmly placed it onto the rock. Nothing happened.

“No! It was supposed to vanush!” he said frustratedly.

“Hold on,” Lupin said taking the knife. “You’ve got the right idea…but the wrong blood. Petunia, come here, hold out your hand.” She hesitated, but after remembering her promise to him, she walked over and held out her hand. Immediately he cut her hand and placed it onto the door. Nothing happened for a few seconds, then, the outside of the rock buzzed, crackled and turned bright blue. It dissolved in a burst of blue sparks.

“Hurry up, come on, or the rock might reappear,” Lupin urged them through the door and followed. Petunia ran over to her husband’s dead body, waling and weeping at the lifeless face and eyes.

“How much time do you need?” Lupin asked just as Tonks apparated next to them.

“I’m sorry for your loss Mrs Dursley,” she began trying to be respectful to Vernon. “I don’t want to drag you away, but I thought you might like to see your son.”

Petunia’s head snapped up, “where have you taken him?”

“He’s at hospital, our hospital.”

“Is he ok?”

“They’re doing tests on him at the moment, when we get back they should be done.”

“I can’t go though, I need to tidy up an-and move V-Vernon.”

“By the time you get home, everything will be sorted, I can even have him in a coffin if you’d like.” Aunt Petunia nodded and slowly stood up. “There we go, this might feel slightly strange. I’m taking you to see…” she took Petunia’s arm and apparated before she could say another word.

“I’m afraid I can’t take you there, and you won’t be able to see your cousin or Aunt until tomorrow.” Lupin said.

“Why?”

“I have to finish up here, but I’ll see you later at the Burrow,” he said with that mysterious glint in his eye again. “Alastor will drop you off.” Harry’s journey went so quickly, if Lupin hadn’t told him who was apparating him, he wouldn’t have known. What had happened was only just starting to sink in, his uncle was dead. He could only feel one emotion. Not sadness, sadness for his Uncle’s death, but anger. Anger at Lord Voldemort for killing another one of his family, admittedly not close, but another one he loved.

Harry knew only to well that Voldemort could kill almost anybody he wanted to in the blink of an eye. He knew that Voldemort wanted to kill Harry, but obviously wanted to see him in pain first.

“Harry!”

Something red and hairy hurtled through the air and hugged him.

“Where have you been?” the red bundle spoke.

“Sorry Gin’, I thought Tonks would’ve told you about what happened.”

“Tonks is here? I haven’t seen her…what’s happened to your hand Harry?” she asked with concern as she saw the deep cut on his hand. She frowned and stamped her foot, “I want answers Harry Potter, and I want them NOW!” she demanded crossly.

Harry sat her down, and as they were waiting for Tonks to appear, he filled her in on the afternoon’s events.

When Tonks finally did join them, Harry had nearly finished. They apparated to the Burrow, and he was just telling her the last of the details as they knocked at the door to the Burrow. Mrs Weasley answered.

“I’m so sorry for your loss dear,” she said to Harry sympathetically as she enveloped Harry and Ginny into a warm, motherly hug. “I would have stopped…well, you’ll see, but you’ve waited too long already.” She led them through to the living room, where he heard what he’d been waiting for, for weeks.

wow guys! 100 posts on feedback!...that's a big thing for little old me!! thanks especially to Scamantha and Ginnypotter19 for continually posting!...even if it was a load of rubbish!! Well...here's a happy post to mark a happy...erm...what's the word???...never mind...GO READ!! ENJOY!

“SURPRISE!” The room in front of him exploded with cheers and whoops of laughter. Fred and George’s famous fireworks were exploding everywhere, reminding him of the torment they had put Umbridge through. Half of the fireworks spelt out phrases like ‘Happy Birthday Harry!’ and ‘Welcome home Ginny!’ Banners Hung around the room with those two sentences, as well as ‘Congratulations Head boy and girl, Harry and Hermione!’

Harry couldn’t believe his eyes, Molly, Arthur, Bill, Charlie, Fred, George, Hermione, Lupin, Tonks, Fleur, Moody and the rest of the Order were all there. They had all organised this party. They hadn’t forgotten his birthday after all, they just hadn’t had time to celebrate it.

Harry found the person he was unconsciously looking for, the untidy red hair, tall lanky body, freckles and mouth parted in a wide grin. Ron stood cheering louder than anybody else, signalling he had forgiven Harry for whatever it was he had done, and let the party get started.

There was plenty of food to go around, Mrs Weasley kept piling his plate higher and higher, insisting he needed fattening up. An hour went by, and it was time for the toasts.

Mr Weasley stood up, “Ladies and Gentlemen, I would say boys and girls but it seems that we only have Ginny left! Ginny frowned as everybody chuckled. “I would like to thank everyone for coming to this party! First, I would like to propose a toast to Harry and Hermione. May they help Remus run the school successfully…”

“And take away as many points, and dish out as many detentions to the Slytherins as they can!” The twins interrupted, causing everybody to laugh again.

“Cheers!” everybody chorused and the glasses of butterbeer chinked together.

Mrs Weasley now stood, “I’m going to propose another toast, to Fleur and Bill for waiting so patiently for their wedding. We’re all looking forward to Fleur joining our family! Cheers!”

Lupin now stood, “and finally we come to the person that this is all for. Harry, we’re all so sorry this couldn’t happen before now, but Happy Birthday. After all you’ve been through, you made it. Your parents would be proud. To Harry!”

This toast was the most enthusiastic of them all. As they started partying into the night, Harry knew nothing would dampen his spirits, or ruin this special night.

As the Weasley clock chimed once, everybody sat in a circle around Harry, each holding their presents. The first was a combined present from Fred and George.

“We would pay you your money back,” Fred started.

“but we knew you wouldn’t take it…so” George continued.

“we thought 1000 galleons worth of produce was a good idea,”

“then we noticed that we didn’t have enough stock…

“so,” they said together, “we got you all our brand new produce including our perfected eye lock!” The twins stared round expectantly at the others blank faces.

“Fred?”

“George?”

“Would you like to explain our latest stroke of mind-boggling cleverness or shall I?”

“I think we should share the honour…Well eye locks are our new best selling product.”

“Since when?” Ron asked, “I’ve never seen them in the shop!”

“You wouldn’t have,” George carried on, “They’re in our defence section, out the back. The ministry bought over a thousand!”

“You can put the eye lock on anything and everything.”

“It’ll stop anybody nicking your stuff.”

“Wow, guys, that’ll be err…useful!” Harry said uncertainly.

Fred and George looked at each other and burst out laughing. “You think that’s all it does? When you try and nick it, it squirts stuff at you, sends curses flying to the thief etc… etc… But you’ll have to find the rest out for yourself!”

“Ze next un’s from me an’ Bill,” Fleur said holding out a shimmering package, inside was a plain wooden box.

Harry didn’t know what to think, “erm…thank you…”

Bill chuckled, “I know it doesn’t look much, but erm…think about a place, say like standing in-between Ron and Hermione. Harry did so. “Ok, now close your eyes and picture that space. Concentrate, now touch the box.”

Harry felt his soul being drawn out of him. Instinctively he started to struggle, but stopped in astonishment when he saw the scene around him. Time had stopped. ‘What would Hermione do?’ he asked himself. While he was trying to work out what was happening, he didn’t notice himself slowly drifting across the room and suddenly landing on the floor between Ron and Hermione.

The room moved again.

Harry looked down at himself, he checked he as all there and looked around the room. In horror, he saw his body lying motionless across the room. Ron however hadn’t seen the ‘other’ Harry…

“What’s the matter mate? You look like you’ve seen a ghost!” He rested his hand on Harry’s shoulder, or he would have done if it hadn’t gone straight through it! “H-Harry?”

“Ron?” The unconscious version of him spoke.

“WOW!” Hermione gasped, “I know what that is, it’s a teleport box!”

Bill chuckled from across the room, “Well done Hermione, and well done Harry! Not many people can teleport successfully first try!”

Harry opened all of the presents threw at him, ranging from Honeydukes chocolates to books on the Dark Arts, until he finally came to the best three presents of all.

Ron and Hermione had grouped together to buy him a series of Dark Detectors and Occulmency / Legilmens books.

Ginny and Hagrid had bought the best presents of all. Ginny gave Harry Hagrid’s because he was away on Order business.

“Open this one first,” she said and gave him the larger of the two. Inside was a sight he knew very well, he had held it once before and had seen it hanging above Dumbledore’s desk so many times before.

Godric Gryffindor’s sword.

Ginny handed her present to him. He slowly opened the velvet box, to find inside, the hilt of a sword. The decoration was so intricate and beautiful. The silver shined where it didn’t have a pattern of ‘H&G’ engraved in beautiful letters, creating a texture. Encrusted into the hilt were red jewels flecked with pieces of gold. “You can replace this hilt with the original on,” she said softly. “Then the original will be safe. Also, this hilt only lets you hold it. The jewels burn them!” she giggles. “It’s just for you.”

The words echoed in his mind as he lay in bed hours later. Earlier’s events were forgotten.

Just for You.

Later Ginny said that even though they were apart, she would never love anybody else. Ginny only loved him. And with this thought, and the memory of his party, he drifted off into a deep, peaceful sleep.

CHAPTER 6:

“Ronald Weasley! Wake up!” The sharp tones of Mrs weasley piersed the early morning air like a knife. “Harry and you are very late!”

Harry started to sit up groggily, late for what?

“Remus is waiting to apparate both of you to Headquarters.” But why? Harry thought as he reached for his glasses.

Mrs Weasley burst into tge room to see Harry getting out of bed, and Ron still in bed, covered completely by his duvet. Witha flick of her wand, the duvet twitched and fell off the end of the bed in a crumpled heap.

“Mum,” Ron said crossly. "it’s so e-e-early,” he yawned.

“Remus is waiting downsatirs o apparte you to Grimmauld place. You both ned o get ready for the wedding!”

“Mum, that’s not till,” he paused. “Saturday-Sunday-Monday,” he recited. “Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday…” he paused again and a look of horror crept over his face. “-which is today…S**T!” He scrambled out of bed and grabbed the pie of clothes Mrs Weasley was holding, only to come back into the bedroom seconds later wearing some pink frilly dress robes. He hastily took the lack ones off her before disappearing again.

After that, there were no more blips and soon enough, they were on their way.

***

Harry stood inside Sirius’ old room. Tears streamed down his face as he stood wearing the unfamiliar black dress robes. He stared at the crumpled pieces of paper in his hands and laid them on the bed, smoothing out the wrinkles. The first read:-

Dear Harry,

I left you this house and all of its contents. But I never told you, I never and time to show you some things you ought to see. I have so many memories. They cannot all be lost to the dust of this house. With this letter is some stuff from school, a few notes passed in class, a photo and some dress robes. I wore the robes to my 7th year winter ball. I don’t know if it was my incredible handsomeness or the robes, but that was the most attention I have ever had from girls! I hope they bring you the same luck.

Under the bed are some boxes, from Hogwarts. Whatever was going to happen, I was going to give you them for your 17th birthday.

I hope you understand Harry, that I love you. I love you like a brother and a son and that will never change. So when you’re out killing Lord Voldemort and saving the world, remember me and also remember to kill that b***h of a cousin of mine Bellatrix!

Love always,
Sirius.

Harry’s eyes wandered over to the note from school.

Moony: Prongs, she has rejected you 7 times this year…and it’s only the 2nd week of term.

Prongs: So?

Padfoot: Yeah, don’t be so downhearted Moony.

Moony: Why? He’s got no chance.

Padfoot…Yeah but we all know that Prongs won’t take ‘no’ as an answer until Lily magics away his very precious parts…

Prongs: Lily would never do such a thing to me guys!

Padfoot: Of course she wouldn’t…

Moony: …definitely not, because we all know she loves you…

Prongs: hahaha guys, very funny.

Moony: just stating the truth

Padfoot:…you’re screwed mate! She’ll never go to the ball with you!

Here the parchment was torn so Harry couldn’t read anymore. He picked up the final piece of paper. On the back it said, ‘Seventh year winter ball, Marauders and Eras.’ And a bunch of names. He turned to the front and found a photograph of six people. There was a spitting image of Harry (without the scar) holding hands with a small, ginger haired girl. She was wearing a low cut turquoise dress with spaghetti straps. It came down just above her knees, and as she moved, the fabric swayed from side to side. If the photo had sound, you would e able to hear her tinkling laugh and swishing dress. Lily Evans and James Potter.

Standing beside James and Lily was a boy with brown hair; he was very neat and tidy. Sitting on the floor, looking lovingly up at him was a blonde girl. Her hair was curled into ringlets and cascaded down her back like a golden waterfall. Her blue eyes glittered with bliss, matching the colour of her dress which looked like it was made of water. Water from Caribbean oceans. The material flowed like a calm river, the long loose sleeves trailing through the air. Phoebe Renalds and Remus Lupin.

A very handsome boy wearing black dress robes was sitting near them. He had long messy black hair that frequently fell over his eyes. His black eyes were like a young puppy’s, soppy but full of mischief. On his lap sat a beautiful girl. She had skin the colour of parchment, but lips the colour of red roses with pearl white teeth. Her hair was a midnight black and completely straight. When it caught the light, there was a small rainbow of dark browns, blues and purples. She had a distinct aura of mysteriosity which was only strengthened by the colour of her eyes. Startling blue sapphires with flecks of gold around the pupils. Her lashes were naturally long and dark. She was Snow White. Her dress a seductive red with thin straps which showed off her flawless skin. It was made of satin and flowed easily as well as clinging to all the right places. She was completely at home sitting on his knees. Rachel-Anne Andrews and Sirius Black.

Harry dropped the photograph and cured up into a ball, sobbing, thinking about Sirius. Remembering the good times they had. Thinking about the good times they could have had. Thinking bout the good times Sirius and his father had, how happy they looked in the photo. How did it all change?

Ginny came in, “Harry hurry up. We’re all waiting for you…” She said no more, but took one look at the photo of Sirius and the notes, and took him into her arms.

YAY!! it's a new psot!! the one that i promised you all...gdgd!! I'd just like to say thak you to elsyechristine and Sirius_gal_1 for leaving me feedback!!! i LOVE YOU!!!!  and :welcome: to the fic!!! now i'm sure ou just love to hear my ramblings...but here's the story!!

She arrived; a shimmering vision of beauty just standing there; a glittering angel floating gently. Her dress was liquid gold, the material flowed in ripples. Her hair was long and blonde, straight, fanning out behind out behind her head like a ribbon in the wind. Her face was covered in a soft lace veil. It came over her plump lips exposing her small chin. Her pale skin was transformed into a golden brown colour because of the veil.

She started walking down the aisle, everything trailed behind her, making her look like an ethereal spirit. Behind Fleur came Hermione dressed in gold, hanging onto Krum’s arm. Behind them came Ginny (also in gold) on Ron’s arm. Ron had a distinct look of jealousy on his face and was glaring at Krum with daggers.

Bill took Fleur’s arm and the ceremonies began.

It all went very much like a muggle ceremony, apart from the fact that there weren’t so many hymns decorating every part of the wedding.

When the time for the vows and the rings came, Harry sat forward, wondering if there were any special wizarding customs. And, there was. There were no rings. There were vows, but no rings.

Harry wondered about this until the end of the ceremony, when the wizarding priest allowed them to kiss. As Bill pulled her in deeper, a white orb appeared above their heads. It grew into a translucent shield around them, with the orb acting as a hovering energy ball. The orb snowed. Confetti rained on them, petals floating onto their hair and their shoulders. Finally, two smaller orbs broke free from the largest and circled around their bodies. They span and danced, changing colour ad shape steadily. They became two gold bands and came to rest on Fleur and Bill’s fourth finger; the rings.

The wedding went as planned. There were no glitches, there were no unwelcome presences that had a death wish for Harry, Lupin or anybody else.

Everybody was at the Burrow in the living room. A party similar to Harry’s held in the name of Mr and Mrs Weasley.

Hermione and Ron were up to date on everything that had been happening in the last week or so, and had been discussing it with Harry for the duration of the party.

“So your pigheaded Uncle is dead?” Ron asked unsympathetically.

Hermione glared at him and Harry burst out laughing.

“What?” Hermione asked. “What?” as Ron joined in. “What’s so funny?” They just laughed harder, but another glare from Hermione caused them to stop immediately.

“Ok, seriously mate. How do you feel about your Uncle being…you know…dead?” Ron asked.

“I dunno really, I ‘spose I should be sad, But I didn’t really know him. He was just somebody who I stayed with over the summer. Even then we kept our distance from each other. I don’t know what to feel.” Harry poured out hi heart to Hermione and Ron.

“What are you going to do about Sirius’ stuff?” Ron asked as he saw that Harry was starting to get upset on the subject of dead people. Harry paused.

“Don be stupid Ron, talking about Sirius is not going to make Harry feel better,” Hermione butted in.

“Don’t worry about it,” Harry said.

Ron shook his head at Hermione, “Well then…”

“Shut up Ron!” Hermione interrupted again.

“Why? Harry’s already said…”

“Just shut up!”

“Bu…”

“Just be quiet Ronald.”

Harry saw Hermione listening intently. “What’s up Hermione?”

“Not you too…just listen!”

So they listened. They could only just hear it. Only just above the chattering and jolliness of the part could they hear it. The rattling intake of dead breath; something was downstairs.

Chapter 7

It was a clear summer’s morning. An August sunrise; light bleeding across the dark sky like an open wound; the last twinkling star disappearing as light overpowers dark. The white hot sun rose higher in the sky, waking the natural world. The flowers raised their heads towards the sun; snakes slithered out of their hiding places to bask in the morning glow.

A swallow flew from her nest. She swooped around the dawning sky, enjoying herself, doing no harm.

“AVADA KEDAVRA!”

The small bird tumbled out of the sky, dead.

“I must say Bella, you’re on good form,” an oily voice spoke from the ground.

“Well let’s see what you can do then Snape.”

A butterfly awoke, it’s emerald wings spread open. The warm breeze made the delicate wings flutter with anticipation. It finally took off, heading towards the nearest flower.

“AVADA KEDAVRA!”

The small wings were ripped apart, broken into shreds by the shear force of the spell. The butterfly floated to the ground, dead.

“Not too bad yourself Snape. Well you know I’d love to stay and chat, but I’ve been instructed to follow Draco.” One of the two figures standing on the grass took off its mask and hood. Tumbling down her back was her long velvety black hair. In the morning light, it reflected with dark blues and greens, the hair of a raven. Her eyes had no pupil. Her eyes had no iris. It was all black. ‘A sign of great power’ she had always been told. Her pale skin contrasted with everything, her character, her hair, her lips. Her lips were dark, her character was dark, her hair was dark. She was dark. Her lips turned up into a sneering smile, “apparently Draco’s not doing his job properly?!”

“Which is what my dear Bella?”

“You’ll find out son enough! Patience…until school…” With a ‘POP’ Bellatrix Lestrange disapparated.

Severus Snape took off his hood and mask; his oily hair fell around his face, framing it with lank locks. He sighed, life was good. Never before had he had it so good. Since he had killed Dumbledore, everybody had been so nice to him. They all treated him like royalty, but why then wasn’t he enjoying it all? Everybody said they trusted him, but never seemed to entrust him with anything!

A sudden burst of pain caused him to curse loudly. “S**T!” he disapparated and found himself moments later, in the large hall where a ring of Death Eaters stood. Hastily, he joined the circle.

“My Death Eaters, you have all completed your short term tasks. For this you shall all be rewarded.” The blank faces of the masks showed relief behind them. “However,” ‘uh oh’ Snape thought, “I have other things to tend to before you,” he paused, “all of you.” Every Death Eater in the room let out an inward sigh of relief. ‘Thank Merlin’ Snape thought, but what Lord Voldemort said next made his blood run cold.

“Let them out.”
