:lol:I had to laugh at the "some computer-generated super squid monster that eats ships and kills non-named crew members."

I don't think so. That raises the question, though: muggle and muggle-born concentration camps? There are just so many non-purebloods! And what would all the purebloods do with the earth to themselves? *shudders*

Yey, they're back! With a really good one!

While it may strike fear in the hearts of his enemies, for us we felt there could be more.
The One Ring to rule all rings, a nuclear bomb to nuke all nuclear bombs or some computer-generated super squid monster
and those who are generally insane (we’re looking at you, Bellatrix).
So the question is: Would Voldemort build a veil to destroy all veils?
Why go through the trouble of recruiting minions and building an evil network when you can just swish and flick them to oblivion?
:D  :rotfl: :elaugh:

Except for the existence of Slytherin's Wand of Mass Maiming being hidden somewhere in Hogwarts
But this does make me think of the "weapon" that Harry and Hermione had "ready" in the "forest" and to which they led Umbridge... And that Chamber of Secrets with an "s" doesn't it have more than one secret to hold?

But Rowling does seem to draw a clean line between the Muggle world and the Wizarding world with their respective attitudes towards death and destruction. Let's hope Voldemort doesn't find out what the Muggles are playing with.

I totally agree. Voldemort is not looking to be the magical version of Osama Bin Laden. Although the two are alike in that they hate same sort of freedom (American Democracy and Muggleborn witches/wizards practicing magic), Voldemort also LOVES being the most powerful wizard alive. A mass terrorist attack or A-Bomb might strike fear in the wizarding world AND show Voldemort's power but really, if the attack was effective enough to ban muggleborn wizards from magical praticem (no matter how unlikely that is), would Voldemort really be satisfied and become a peaceful, law abiding person? No...he'd stil seek power to show HIMSELF off.

I liked this editorial - how can they be so witty all the time? Anyways, I agree, I think it would be pointless for there to be something that consequential introduced this late in the series. And besides, Harry doesn't need one more thing to make his life difficult. I realize that difficulty and struggle are all part of the story, but he's already got to go on a treck possibly around the world (although I think it'll all be in the UK) to destroy the extremely powerfully protected Horcruxes of the most evil/second most powerful wizard of all time, then find him (which in and of itself may be no easy task), kill him (which will definitely not be an easy task), then deal with his creepy deranged followers ("we're looking in your direction, Bellatrix"), AND keep all this a secret from everyone in the wizarding world minus two.

That's a big task. I don't think there'd be anything else that consequential added to Harry's plate this late in his journey.

My God I love you guys. But I think this is the last one I can read at work. Otherwise I might get the sack for laughing so loud! Keep up the great work!

Hmm, a wizarding A-bomb? An interesting concept.

I thought your line: "For him, it's oriented on showing the power of pure-blood wizards (and their allies) over everyone else." was very apropos. As Then Jodi Said noted, Voldemort is all about power. And he knows how to manipulate it to suit his agenda.

BUT he may need a wizarding A-bomb, if his dear followers finally filter through the chaffe and catch on to the fact that he isn't pureblood and his extolling of the pureblooded superiority is just a front for his own desire for power. I think he selected the small, select group of pureblooded wizards because they were easier to control and corrupt with his promises of power; however, he may find in the future he needs more than Crucios to keep them in line.

Well if there was a wizarding A-bomb they would use it in part seven they could destroy the ministry of magic then you-know-who could have no more problems now that Dumbledor is dead including the ministry of magicis destroyed so i doubt that he can create something so powerfull.:wow:

No, Voldemort is better left as the master manipulator (of the weak) and cunning planner than the mad wizard with the world's largest wand in his backyard.

It's not the size of the wand that's important, it's what you do with it! ;)

Have any of you ever read the fanfic Stranger in an Unholy Land, by Serpant-Sorcerer?

It's extremely long, and at first very confusing (the basic plot is thus: Harry gets chucked into an Alternate Universe where his alternate self was Voldemort's number 2, so everyone thinks that he is a Death Eater), but it has the best Voldemort take-over scenario that I've ever seen.

Basically, Voldemort has loads of people within the Ministry paid off, or threatened, or under the Imperious. Then, he lets himself get arrested by the aurors, and put into a Ministry holding cell. Everyone thinks he has lost.

Then however, when Dumbledore comes to visit the Minister one time (in this universe its Crouch sr.) he has one of his Death Eaters inside the Ministry poison the drinks, weakening Dumbledore and the Minister. This Death Eater then kills the Minister, and captures Dumbledore. Barty Crouch Jr. who is still alive in that universe is elected Minister by the corrupt Wizengamot, and almost all the members of the Order are arrested. Hogwarts once again has a High-Inquisitor, thoiugh this time it really is a Death Eater.

In other words, Voldemort won without a single fight: the Ministry practically invited him in, and eventually Bary Jr. hands over power to Voldemort, who was just "misunderstood". The tables are turned, and the Order becomes the terrorists, and the Death Eaters are the noble protectors of the people.

Quite interesting.
