I think that's because there wasn't much canon to support any of the answers, it was just deductive reasoning :(

Oh, I only revised the "choose 3" question. I changed my answers for that one a lot.

I think that's because there wasn't much canon to support any of the answers, it was just deductive reasoning :(

Exactly. We've never been given details about hags and how are we supposed to know Muggle Studies percentages? Those questions went over the top of my head.

In addition to that, some were opinionated.

A question for mods: Should we discuss the W.O.M.B.A.T. in the other thread instead of this one?

And for your efforts, Nicole, we are more than greatful!

I had about 15 minutes left when I finished mine. I kept going back and forth on some questions. I couldn't decide and every time I thought about a part in the books that pertained to the question, I second-guessed myself.

That was a tricky way for Ms. Rowling to make us open the test. A little frustrating, I must say. :grumble: :D

I wonder who came up with the "Stubby Boardman" is "R.A.B." rumor. That's been floating around for quite some time. There was mention of Stubby = Regulus on CoS as far back as 9 July 2003: archived thread Stubby Boardman (http://www.cosforums.com/cosarchive/showthread.php?p=437039&highlight=regulus#post437039).

Hmmm, we seem to have lost the more recent thread to the last pruning round, though. Oh, well, would have been a dead thread with this information anyway! :elaugh:

I'm kidding about the shameless part. I know many people had trouble with it like me and I've always been bad at those trick games.

Still, we got an update didn't we? I was hoping for an update in Halloween but this was early :D

EDIT: Thanks for that link again, Nicole :) That's a pretty old theory!

First refresh the page and then repeat these directions exactly!

Click on the candle to light it.
Click on the dark red quill.
Click on the WOMBAT paper.
Click on the clover at the bottom left of the desk. It will turn into a key.
Drag this key to the desk drawer - the top of the key must touch the drawer.
The drawer will open, revealing the WOMBAT part two exam.
Click the hourglass on the desk.
Now the exam will be revealed

:) Hope that helps

Yeah, as I understand it, after a few days you need to check back in with your student code and if they're done you'll get the results. Better solution is just wait and watch when this thread increases by 2 pages every 1 hour :rotfl: That will tell you results are being given.

Yeah, once the W.O.M.B.A.T. card appears again on the desk you'll be able to submit your code. the results should be delivered a few days after

On the main page click on the pink eraser at the top. Just roll the mouse over it and you'll know which one I'm talking about. Then you'll be transported to another room. If the door doesn't have a "Do NOT disturb" sign on it then click on the handle and follow these once the door opens:

Click on the candle to light it.
Click on the dark red quill.
Click on the WOMBAT paper.
Click on the clover at the bottom left of the desk. It will turn into a key.
Drag this key to the desk drawer - the top of the key must touch the drawer.

All I can say is THANK YOU, JO!!!!!!
Another update. That makes two this month. Aren't we just drooling on our Qwerty boards!
The challenge was tough. I knew there was a pattern, but couldn't figure it out. After 20 mins of clicking everything in many combos, I finally cheated. I never tried the candle first because everytime you click on the candle and something else, the candle would shut off. Now the problem is that I don't have 25 more minutes to take the whole test and I need to dig up my original Wombat number. I hope the test remains for a few days and I can take it over the weekend. I think the last one was up for at least that long.
Good luck everyone.

No but it could mean something very important:

1. It's just wishing us luck
2. It has some clue behind it.
3. She wants to confuse us and boggle our gullible minds

Or

4. It's a red herring designed to throw us off the scent.

We'll be so busy trying to figure out what "luck" has to do with book 7, we won't figure out what's really going to happen.

The reason for this is that you need to have the scrapbook entry by doing the watering with the bottles first.

For the message: Try to move the scraps, you get a hint.

I have tried that key about 40 times nowSounds like the number of attempts I had to make at drawing the lightning bolt on the Extras page some months back...frustrating! Nope, that's how long it took us to whine about when we might get the Grade 2 exam.

For WOMBAT Grade 1:
Door opened on Friday 31 March (it was afternoon EST, so early evening GMT?)
Door closed Tuesday 4 April (not sure what time of day this occurred, maybe midnight GMT?)
WOMBAT id card showed up on Jo's keyboard Wednesday 5 April (may have coincided with door closure)

Fred and George didn't need NEWTs because they were opening their own business. And that was pointed out in the book. They didn't just quit school. They were prepared - had built up a customer base and even acquired premises for their shop.

From what has been shown in the books, the majority of the careers require NEWTs - particularly those careers that involve working for the Ministry. In fact, it was mentioned in POA that you need top level NEWTs to get any job within the Ministry.

Not all careers would require NEWTs, but it would seem that the majority of them do.

I don't really think this has anything to do with graudating. I think they're just fun things for Jo to make us do so we don't storm her house/castle while waiting for the 7th book

I agree. Jo said that anything she reveals at this point would be a spoiler so I don't think she's going to be giving us little tidbits like she did with HBP. Although, I wonder if there might be some clues within the WOMBAT tests themselves - both tests seemed to have a lot of questions about the Ministry. Maybe a shakeup is in the works?

I agree that it would seem the WOMBAT questions themselves are potential clues. They are so narrow towards the Ministry and "instances of trouble" and overall knowledge of how to handle yourself in the wizarding world. It's like a preparation for what Harry can face "in the real world" because as Umbridge pointed out, school is school and not the real world.

I never took the first one so this was fun and new.

I know, it took me forever to get the key in the drawer, even with the drawing on MN

Oh why? Have you tried following the instructions on Mugglenet?

I actually liked this test better than the last one. I dunno, but the questions didn't seem to be as "black n white" as the last test... can't wait for the results hehee. :) Though this time, I really don't know what to expect.

edit: extraordinarily slow though

What do people think of the new fan site. It's nice of JK to think of other loyal countries?

You mean the translations? It's nice, but it always takes a few days before the site is translated in other languages. :grumble: Hehe... I'm kidding. It#s ok, that it takes it's time, it's just annoying that I usually miss an update before I read it here, because I'm most the time lurk on the german site.

The WOMBAT was on all sites tough. :D

Do you mean the one Jo gave the fansite award too or the translations of her own site?
Anyway, I think it's great that she's recognizing and awarding people from non-English speaking countries, who put a lot of work in a fansites.

As for the translations of Jo's site, I've only once checked them out just for the sake of curiosity and I think it's nice that she and Lightmaker put in the effort of making the site and the material available to children/people who don't speak English and come from these countries. As for myself, I'm Icelandic and obviously there isn't an Icelandic translation of her site so I always go to the English one...And enjoy it very, very, very much! :D

Does anyone think that the date of the death of the new wizard of the month has any significance? I can't remember what year Harry was born, but this new wizard's date of death(1985) seems to suggest to me that perhaps it was Voldemort related?? Would make sense, don't the Pure Blood fanatics look down on Squibs?

For the last WOMBAT you weren't able to get your results until after the door closed again. Make sure you write down your student code and you'll be able to look up your results when that happens.

The door is closed, I typed my student code into the WOMBAT page, and I'm looking at a clock that points to "RESULTS DELIVERED." But that's it. I can't find the results that have apparently been delivered. Is there supposed to be something else that I missed?

Thanks you very much for helping my confusion!

Harry was born in 1980, therefore Voldemorts downfall was 1981. The new wizard of the month died during Harrys presence at the Dursleys, while Voldemort was hidden in Albania. He was less than a ghost, therefore I doubt that he was involved. The new wizard of the month was very old at that time and I think she died a natural death.

Ahh, oh well, all I could remember is that he was born in the 80s. Thanks for the date Annett. She probably did die a natural death then. Pretty amazing though that someone that started a society for squibs wasn't attacked though...

The door is still open, it may be closed on your computer but it's still open in that other people can still get in and take the test. You have to wait a few days until the door is closed and nobody can take the test anymore.

Did you write down your student code so you can check them in a couple days?

I've looked around but haven't found a direct answer to my question, which makes me think it isn't possible, but I am wondering if there is anyway to recover my WOMBAT ID number?

During my move out of the dorms, I lost my ID code I printed (the card) as well as my certificate. Does anyone know if it is possible (I'm hoping it is, since we had to register our email addresses with it).

Thanks in advance.

I just did the Wombat - that was fun!! I thought this one was a lot easier than the 1st Wombat test. What did you all think?? Of course, a lot of the questions were based on deduction, so who knows if I got those right! Anyways, I bet she has a scoring system where you get so many points for chosing certain answers, and then at the end your points are added up... but I dunno.

Ok, and who else is completely surprised that Snape wasn't under the cloak the night Harry's parents were killed??!!?! I TOTALLY throught that was it! Oh well... guess that's been debunked. =)

Did you print your certificate and still have it? Then you can find your Code in the right corner at the bottom of your certificate.

When do we get the results of the WOMBAT test? This was my first time taking it, so I'm new at this. Thanks in advance!Last time, the door was open from March 31 til April 4. On April 6, the WOMBAT card appeared on the keyboard...and it was April 10 {I believe} when we got our Owls, telling us our grade.

If this test follows that guideline, we should have our results by Oct. 10.

Not necessarily. About changing the names of persons she talked sometimes, that during the writing she used a name, but not feeling good with it. As she find a better, she changed it. With writing computer programs it is easy to change all at once.

If you've lost it, then I'm afraid it's gone. We were warned to take good care of it. Bad luck! But you can get a new code for this WOMBAT. You just can't get the old one back. I copied and pasted mine and saved it to my livejournal and my computer, since I haven't got a printer. I screencapped the certificate and saved that too.

Was just at the site, and the WOMBAT card on the keyboard is gone... For me (at .org, .net, .com and .co.uk) the card disappeared the day the Do Not Disturb sign went missing (ie, Friday 29 September).

I checked back through the JKR thread for that time and results were delivered/accessed only a week after the exam appeared--April 7.

Results will not be available until after the Do Not Disturb sign reappears on the door, so it has nothing to do with the door being "closed" when attempting to check for a Grade 2 score. (For those who were inquiring about that.)

For me, the WOMBAT card is still there, even with the "Do not disturb sign" missing and the WOMBAT 2 open. And when I click on the card, it shows "Results Delivered", and I can still see a certificate saying WOMBAT 1.

I thought it was a cookie problem at first, but I've deleted all my cookies and it's still there. I tried on all versions - .org, .com, .net, .co.uk as well.
