I just wanted to point out that we did get "something" from Jo last Christmas...even if it wasn't "all" we wanted!
My mistake! Although it would have been a better present if she wrote in it more often! But as long as she's writing the book, I'm happy!

I hope we get an AMAZING christmas present aka a title...or a release date...or maybe a cover? than we can do some speculation!!!!

I think Jo wants to get the manuscript finished and out of the house, so that she can get ready for Christmas with her family. If it's not done by mid-December, there probably won't be anything in the New Year either. Jo deserves a Christmas break.

Sorry, you missed the W.O.M.B.A.T.s. Jo says there will be another one later, but it's too late to go back and take the first two. When she puts them up, they are just there for a few days, so quite a few people have missed them.

Ok, it's time for me to admit it. I only signed up here a few months back, and was only exploring JKR's official site for the first time not too long ago. And yes, you guessed it, the door was open, I went in and clicked a few things, but eventually got bored and left. :'( I only realized it's importance a few days later!!!

I agree that I'd like a new faq poll or Wombat quiz (she said that the third one would be coming out in due time). Of course, the best christmas present would be a release date or something like that, though I havn't much hope for it by then...

I agree with the observations about the releasing of titles so far, but it's also special now since it's the last book - and the hype is even bigger than before.

That's true. I don't expect her to have finished the book by Christmas, so a title would be too much to ask for.

The evil cynic in my head says if we haven't had a title by now, it's going to be some time next year. Maybe she could give us a snippet of some kind to work ourselves into a (usually wrong) frenzy over instead? Some time just before or just after Christmas would be nice for that.

I don't see it as lying. Until the book is in the hands of the publisher, and in fairly completed shape, I think I would say it was nowhere near done too. Call it superstition. :)

Ahh, but if I remember correctly (and I'll be the first to admit I may have been visited by the "Obliviators"), 2 years ago she reported that she was nowhere near done. Then a month or so later announced HBP was at the publisher with the release date to be announce in a day. So, not that I am saying there will be a repeat this year, but we have precedent.

She told us she was not close to finish HBP and yet ten days later or so she announced that she had finished and given the manuscript to the publishers. I don't see it as lying, more like superstitious and also that the whole process wasn't finished. I don't think that she is always talking about the actual writing of the books when she says she's not close to finish. I also think of the editing process and all that. And since it never took her more than a year to write and edit all previous six books then I don't see any reason to shy she can't and won't finish the last book in a year too. So therefor I think she has already finished writing the book now and is currently editing. I am convinced that we will get the book next summer and I hope the title and the release date at Christmas.

I definitely hope so! I love all the decorations and the radio playing "O ye merry hippogriffs" or something. :lol:

She has said herself that she keeps changing her mind about the title, some time ago she mentioned she was considering three alternatives. I suppose she first has to finish the book, see how it turns out and then anounce the title.

Perhaps she doesn't want to give us an Advent calendar again because then we will be absolutely 100% sure we're getting the same Christmas gift as two years ago? Perhaps she wants to at least try to surprise us or keep us in suspense until then...? Or we will get it sometime tomorrow...or not.

The Advent Calendar appeared on Dec. 1 in 2004, but according to the Lexicon, the decorations didn't appear till the 19th in 2005. :(

Both years, 2004 and 2005, the bulletin board changed back to normal on January 6th.

I searched in old threads from another forum were I posted about the Advents calendar back in 2004 and the calender were definitely there in the morning, because my post was at half past 11 and now it is half past three here. I think we should settle with the idea that we don`t get an calendar this year.

Annett: It looks that way, since it seems that the reason for the Advent Calendar was to count-down to the name of Book 6, and I think it's too soon for that this time.

I think I must have missed that - I've got no memory of the advent calendar but a firm memory of the title.

It seems like there was a special link to it...like a piece of candy on the desk. The calendar wasn't that special, each window had the same piece of candy as all the others. I vaguely remember reports of members getting "stuck" after clicking on the candy in a window--which only led to seeing the candy image enlarged, anyway.

But without any Christmas decorations the site looks very sad. I hope the will coming later, same as last year.

Hopefully we'll get the Christmas decorations on the 19th of December like last year and the year before that. And I have not given up the hope about Jo announcing she has finished the book on Christmas day...! Not yet anyway.
