They are just about one of the more decent bands around today. Yes, I like them to an extent, but I won't be getting Black Parade for awhile, though.

I really like MCR. Their fresh from all the stuff thats generic right now.

I loved MTv's making of their videos. Their interesting and best of all, they rock with REAL talent!

I've loved My Chemical Romance since I Brought You My Bullets... but the whole Black Parade theme seems a little too generic. They're new video is too much like Green Day. The songs on the new album are amazing though. I plan on picking it up on Tuesday.

In my opinion they aren't really emo, to me they're pop-punk/pop-rock. If they are emo then Usher (Confessions) is also emo because MCR's songs aren't hugely emotional and because some songs by R & B artists are really emotional. Therefor R & B is just as emo as bands labelled as emo.

I don't really like the new song, probably because my girlfriend put it on repeat for two hours. If I didn't love her I would have left.

They are coming to Australian in january so I will see them at the Big Day Out probably.

Record Labels didn't label emo, bands did it themselves.

Pfft, this guy has hit the nail on the head. MCR is emo, unlike the more venerable bands who can really convey the meaning of 'emotion'.

Nowadays, all those bands that are being called Rock, like FOB , P!ATD, etc. do not deserve it. They are an insult to the name of the best genre of music.

I love them, Ive been listening to them since the first album, and I'm really hoping that the 3rd album doesnt break them the same way the 3rd broke slipknot ((my opinion)). I listen to a lot of different music, from manson to p!atd, thats just who i am. Im not gonna be able to get the new cd for a while; im completely broke!!! but one of my friends is getting it, and im gonna beg on my knees to borrow it. Ive only heard 3 songs on it though: 'welcome to the black parade,' 'cancer,' and 'dead!'

I have only recently started listening to the, (sad, I know) because when I first heard of them I was turned off by the name.

Then one day, I was watching music videos and I saw the one for "Welcome to the Black Parade" and I was awed .. I thought that they were actually quite good!
So I went and dowloaded that and a bunch of thier old stuff, so now I have a lot of backtracking to do.. so what are your faavourite songs by them? I've dowloaded quite a lot but is there such a thing as too much MCR??

I'm quite upset because i can't go get it myself due to a Choir Concert, but my fellow MCR fan of a friend is going to go get it. For me and about 2 other people. I'm hoping that they come here again for the new album.

Seriously people give it up. Emo does not and has not ever been short for emotional because all music is emotional in some way. Emo is and has been since the term was invented in the late 80s a shorter version of a term meaning "emotional hardcore". Now, before you all jump down my throats and say "omgzzz mcr are leik not hardcorre u no nothing listen to black flag" I will point out that I agree however, in recent years the term was taken away from its roots and applied to pop-punk bands who have taken the original formula and added darker, harder and stronger elements. Sure the label gets thrown around for everything these days, but then so did 'prog' 'punk' 'metal' and every other label there is.

Rock is an incredibly broad genre, I mean if I had my way Bon Jovi would have been shot at birth and never be associated with the top rock gods but hey, they have. Rock defines the instrumentation and sound of the bands, the typical guitar, bass drum combo, the energetic playing and however elitist you want to be modern guitar bands are still rock music.

Me too. I dont like The Black Parade much as their older stuff. The actual song for TBP sounds like Queen and I dont have anything against Queen, but for a band like MCR it just doesnt work.

The Black Parade is AMAZING. My friends and I promoted yesterday, we wore stickers on our jeans and looked like losers. But who cares? I've fallen in ove with the band ALL over again. From Bullets to Revenge to Black Parade, they've gotten better.

Yes, you can also give a couple of chimpanzees a few garbage cans to serve as drums and some beat up guitars. They will have the status of a Rock Band too.

I know those bands are classed as Rock because of their sound. Technical details can class any band as part of the genre. But if we purely consider them in terms of quality, what they make isn't Rock Music, its cacophony. There's a difference, but its hard to explain.

Back to MCR, I finally gave Black Parade a try. Again, I will say it. MCR are not good, but they are listenable. A few catchy songs in that album.

I don't understand why everyone fights over music like this! Can't people just like what they like without sparking some sort of argument? I mean, I have a friend who listens to country music, which I hate, but I don't go getting into arguments over it. Let people like what they like-it's not like it affects your life in any way at all!

MCR are always a touchy group because people accuse them of being emo. I don't think they are (especially with this new album). They're lyrics aren't about being lonely etc and they're self-confessed goths.

I think their new album is great. Much better than Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. This one actually has a FEEL to it. There's a constant minor tone to it that make it so depressing (until the last song: end on a happy note!). The whole album is about a cancer patient so it's bound to be dark...

I don't mind them but they aren't my favorite. Welcome to the black parade sounds good. I like the way it starts and then transitions. I don't know why but I like the effect it has on the song.

I like MCR. Three cheers...was in regular rotation in my cd changer for a long while. "You know what they do to guys like us in prison" is a funny song, but the name is going a little over board.I still pop it in every now and then. I generally listen to metal, but I am diverse so my music library has many forms of music in it.

I bought "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love" when it first came out. Their second CD is pretty good and so is TBP. My Chemical Romance's first CD will always be my favorite, though.

I don't mind them, but I'm not huge on MCR fans. Most of them are okay, but you do get the try-hard wanna-be emo scene kids that ruin the image for others.

I think that its very unfair to class the music as a particular genre, everyones experience of certain peices of music is different. You might listen to "Mama" and see it as an angry letter from a son but someone else may see it as something completely different. My Chemical Roamnce have always been my favourite band since I first hear "I bought you bullets..." and I have to say that I prefer a LOT of their older stuff.

Songs such as "Demolition lovers" and "Helena" tell such an emotional story through their lyrics and the emotions conveyed through the use of voice that to me they mean a lot.

You might have a different viewpoint on that song but as long as it is respected there shouldn;t be a problem.

And besides, in my opinion MCR are a LOT better than most music nowadays.

I'm seeing MCR at the Adelaide Big Day Out in February next year :D Very excited. I quite like their new album. I mean, there are a few songs I really cant stand (Sleep and Cancer in particular) but Dead, House of Wolves and Teenagers are great.

Hi, I just recently heard MCR's Welcome to the Black Parade (finally! lol) and seen the music video and I absolutely love it! Honestly I've never liked a song longer than a week, but their song's really addicting :rockon: I'm looking for some of them songs now via the net.

Is it true that there are hidden messages in their songs?

I love My chemical Romance, I have all their albums and I went to see them in a one off performance at Liverpool University on 13th November, they were so awesome, they sound better live than they do on cd, if that's even possible. I might be getting tickets for the march tour as well, I'm not sure yet, if I can afford them, I'll get them for me and my friend. My favourite song by them at the moment is Sharpest Lives, and I love You Know What ~They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison.

I saw them last November. I swear, it made my year! There was no event that compared to it at all! No one should miss the chance to see MCR if they're a fan. Some bands are rather unimpressive live, but MCR are amazing! It's worth every cent paid for tickets!

I'd like to see them live sometime, that'd just be awesome. I've never really heard of them coming up to Minneapolis, though, so I'd probably have to make a road trip to Chicago or something.

Yea they definatly look worth while to see in concert, although I'm not a huge fan of "The Black Parade", "Famous Last Words" is amazing! Gerald Way is a hilarious singer to watch, I love his facial expressions in "I'm Not Okay".

I saw MCR Feburary.25!!!!It was the best day of my life! I chose MCR as my first concert and I liked it so much I let my friends convince me to go to Warped tour. Thanks to MCR my parents are letting my hang out with my friend more because they see that I really can handle myself! I love their music!!! I wasn't really into My Chemical Romance until the Black Parade came out. Now they're probably ones of my Top Ten bands. I'd love to see them live but missed out on tickets to a Machester gig awhile ago. Mama, Teenagers, Dead and Cancer are my favourite songs. I think one of the reaons i love them is because of their musicalsimilarites to Queen who i adore. Maybe that's one of the reasons i didn't like their Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge album so much-thats not such much like Queen.

I saw MCR for a second time two nights ago in Melbourne. Mikey and Bob were missing so it was only 3/5 of the band which is disappointing. The fire and fireworks were good and everyone was really into it, but I get the feeling Gerard doesnt really like performing live, on both the occasions I've seen him he has lacked passion and energy, however when I met the band in February all of thme were really friendly and kind and energetic).
However the show was good I suppose, playing three slow songs in a row (Sleep, Cancer and Desert Song) was probably not the best choice but oh well.

I LOVE MCR! They rockk. They consider themselves alternative rock. If u look them up on Wikipedia. And Emo. But I can see their songs in this category much better.:) Anywho... they are really good.:rockon:

I havent heard that rumour but I have heard that they might be breaking up soon so Gerard can spend more time with his wife (as with Mikey).

I saw MCR for a second time two nights ago in Melbourne. Mikey and Bob were missing so it was only 3/5 of the band which is disappointing. The fire and fireworks were good and everyone was really into it, but I get the feeling Gerard doesnt really like performing live, on both the occasions I've seen him he has lacked passion and energy, however when I met the band in February all of them were really friendly and kind and energetic).
However the show was good I suppose, playing three slow songs in a row (Sleep, Cancer and Desert Song) was probably not the best choice but oh well.


When I saw them live, Gerard was really good & put on a really good show....and all the band was there. ....this was in March though..hmmm..you lucky duck..I didn't get to met 'em cause my dad got there early to pick us up and I was to tried to try and agrue to stay there....(it was my first mosh pit...so fun!) also they played all of The Black Parade(in order of the CD)...then some From Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge (odd how I remembered that..normally I forget it...even though I love the CD to death!)...

I LOVE MCR! They rockk. They consider themselves alternative rock. If u look them up on Wikipedia. And Emo. But I can see their songs in this category much better.:) Anywho... they are really good.:rockon:

They don't consider themselfs emo, I honestly don't care though what there music is...all I know is there great!!!

I havent heard that rumour but I have heard that they might be breaking up soon so Gerard can spend more time with his wife (as with Mikey).

Okay could all the people that keep saying that they love MCR but in their posts they dont even mention the bullets album or any of it songs, there is a few who mention them but many just mention Im Not okay onwards, im not okay was the last song released from Three Cheers, then they baisicaly mention every song released from the black parade album. Bullets was by far their best album, it had the most rememberable tunes, Vampires, Early Sunset over Monroevile, etc etc, i bet half of you who claim to be fans had never heard of Bullets before you searched MCR on wikipedia after you watched Kerrang and seen Im Not Okay played, which it is about three times a day

Bullets is awesome! In fact, I'm listening to it right now. :D My favorite song on the CD is Our Lady of Sorrows.

I love our lady of sorrows, but i love turnstilles and Skylines, that was written a week after 9/11 cause Gerard was in NYC on 9/11 and was so moved by the events that he created the band, usefull little bit of random knowledge, im not near my CD's at the moment but could you tell me if "you know what they do to guys like us in prison" is on the bullets album, i think its bullets but my minds gone all funky at the mo and i cant remember

I actually got Three Cheers first...then I got the black Pararde..I started liking MCR cause of Helena...I didn't want to even like them cause fans of a certain band(I like the band..the fans just irritated me sides one(maybe few more)..I was in there fan club..for a bit...I am sure fans of this band can guess..it cost 25 bucks to enter...) liked them and I hated those people cause they were all stupid and needed to get there brains checked..anyway..I started listnting to Helena and I loved it..then I got my sis to get me three cheers.....for christmas in 2005..then the next xmas was when I got The Black Parard(and I am really tried and have forgotten hot to spell that word:hmm: )...I still have yet to get bullet......it's a issue with money..but I will get it oh yes I will and I will enjoy every second of it(I have heard some of the songs but I am to sleepy and im in a hurry and cant remember)....

Well when I went to see them they didn't even play one song from bullets....I wasn't too sad cause they did play my favourite songs..just about...(all from the black...) so I wasn't complainin but just surprised..I kinda wanted them to play one of there older songs....

I love Bullets (especially Demolition Lovers), but I'm not entirely sure I agree with what you say here. If a person is genuinely a fan of the music, does it really matter how they hear about a band in the first place, or what order they buy the CDs in? I don't think it makes someone any less of a fan if they got Three Cheers first and then Bullets. But that's just my opinion.

In regards to them making a new album, I remember hearing Gerard say in an interview that he wanted to go and record their next album in Japan. That was ages ago, though, like right after The Black Parade came out, so who knows if it's going to be true or not.

I saw them January last year and December last year and both times they were extremely average. I like their music but I'd never recommend their live show to my friends and I wouldnt go and see them again.

Anyway, on their E-mail linkup they send a load of YouTube videos; so that gives me at least a look at what the DVD is going to be like.

Well, it's a DVD similar to the DVD that they came out with in 2006 (Life On the Murder Scene). Only, in this DVD, all of the content is going to be live concert footage and more live concert footage. On their site (http://mychemicalromance.com/blackparadeisdead/), they show list of what is going to be in the DVD, and it gives a basic list of songs. So I think they're just going to be showing live concert footage on this DVD from concerts in Mexico, the U.K., etc. Plus they have a CD that comes with the DVD, and it just has some live tracks on it.

The songs found on the DVD are from The Black Parade, and I'm pretty sure I saw in one of the previews for it that they sent out that they have some footage of them performing some of their older works.

All in all, it looks like a good CD/DVD, though I'll be more excited when they come out with an actual new CD. And from different sites that I've been on, it's said that the band is coming out with a new CD sometime in 2009. So if that's true, I can't wait!

Well, a lot of people are saying that they've got a new album that they're releasing some time in early 2009. But I don't have a good links to back that up at the moment, so I guess all we can really do is wait and see what the band posts on their blog.

Yeah, there were rumours saying that the band might be breaking up after The Black Parade is Dead!, comes out. But those rumours, aren't true. Here's an article found on Wikipedia about the band's future:

I don't have The Black Parade Is Dead yet, but it's on my list, definitely. (Need to survey the damage in my checking account first, heh.) MCR is officially my Favorite Band On Earth. Although I haven't been perusing the fandom much lately. I've been distracted by my other obsessions.

I finally got TBPID, it is awsome so glad that i got the uncensored version casuse if i got the censored one, the second concert would have sounded very bleepy! lol

I've started to really get into them. My absolute favorite song from them is Helena, but I like Teenagers, too.

Edit: Is there a new singer for MCR? I mean in the video for Helena it was a kind of skinny guy with black, shaggy hair. In the video for Teenagers the guy singing was kind of on the heavy side with kind of white, buzz cut hair.

nope same guy, gerard way, but in teenagers he had short black hair, where in helena he had shoulder lengthish black hair, in the black parade video he had bleached blonde/white hair, and the only person from MCR that i have ever seen with a buzz cut is bob bryar the drummer man. i think your slightly confuzeled

Yes, I am very confuzled. I like their music, but some of it is a little too goth for my taste.
