I did a search and came up with nothing, so I hope it's alright to start this new topic.
I would like to hear your experiences with rereading the books.

1) How many times have you read them?

2) How often do you read them again?

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?

I'll start myself (sorry for doubleposting but it might be confusing to post it in the other post):

1) How many times have you read them?
I think I've read them all like 6 / 7 times.

2) How often do you read them again?
I read a Harry Potter book every 2 or 3 months. (in no particular order)

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
No, never. I always read everything. They never bore me, although I can tell almost exactly what I'm going to read next.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
I always have to laugh about funny things. I laugh a lot when reading Harry Potter. I never cried reading them, but I do still feel sad or angry when Ron and Harry have a fight, or when Cedric gets killed, or when Ginny is taken to the Chamber.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Yes, I often discover something that I didn't notice before. Or connections between people or events that I missed the first times I read the books. I do feel quite stupid then :)

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Yes! Every time I read the fourth book for example, I hope Harry is just going to watch the tourney with his friends. But I know his name will come out of the Goblet. And I always hope Harry and Cedric will just be safe and travel happily back with the cup.
Just like Voldemorts rebirth, I hope just like Harry "Let it drown! Please Let it drown!". In the third book I always hope Pettigrew won't escape.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
Nope :)

1) How many times have you read them?
at least 20 each

2) How often do you read them again?
I start PS/SS as soon as I have inshed GoF. It's a constant cycle

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
I usually skip the first chapter of GoF because it is just plot development, and it bores me. Besides that I think I read everything

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
Every time! I still chuckle at Dobby's 'barmy old codger' bit, and still get a knotted stomach over Cedric

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
All the time. Just the other night I realized that Amos Diggory has the same initials as Albus Dumbledore and Armando Dippet

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Every time I open up PoA I hope that Peter will get caught, and he always gets away:angry:

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
Nope :p This was an excellently planned out survey! Great thread!

1) How many times have you read them? I'm not sure. I've lost count.

2) How often do you read them again? Every three months? Not always but sometimes.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there? I've been known to skip the Quidditch scenes except for PoA.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things? Of course!

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again? I used to. Sometimes I reremember things I had forgotten I noticed. ;)

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen? I always hope the books will get spontaneous and Peter won't get away.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
You didn't ask if we still think Snape was trying to curse Harry in SS or if we're scared over Sirius. The answer is yes. I think Snape may have intended to let Harry get bruised up a bit before rescuing him from Quirrel.

1) How many times have you read them? I've read them all 3 times.

2) How often do you read them again? Once a year. I read a lot of other things so I have to space it out. But sometimes what I'm reading is so boring, I just want to pick up SS and start HP again.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there? No. I read everything. Even if it slows me down, I stick with it.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things? Yes. This last time i read GoF I think I cried harder at the end than I ever had before.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again? So far, I've always caught new things. And then it gives other things more meaning so then I have a better understanding overall.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen? Yeah, I always hope for it.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask? I think the books only get better as you reread them.

1) How many times have you read them?

I've read PS, CoS and GoF twice each. I've read PoA three or four times.

2) How often do you read them again?

Whenever I'm bored and don't feel like picking up a book I don't know the story to. I read one obout every 3 or 4 months I guess.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?

No, simply because I havne't read the books enough to do that. Sometimes I will read just a particular chapter though.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?

I didn't laugh or cry the first time I read them. I generally feel the same way about what happens though.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?

Yep.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?

Yes. Silly really, but I just can't help myself. I always want Snape to listen in the Shrieking shack at the end of PoA. He never does no matter how much I read it. :(

1) How many times have you read them?

I can never remember how many times I've read each book... But I can safely say I've read all four at least three times each!

2) How often do you read them again?

Sometimes during a storm when the power goes out I'll pick one and reread it. I haven't reread any in the past month or two but I know when OotP comes out I'll reread all five of them together.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?

Sometimes in my head I'll say the exact quote that I'm about to read but I never skip passages. I can't find anything in the book that bores me!

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?

While reading the extremely hilarius moments in HP I still stop and laugh for an hour because those same things are still funny to me. They probably always will be. I never cried while reading any of the books, but some parts I still find sad.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?

Yes, everytime I reread the book I notice things I never noticed before. Like the second time I reread GoF and heard Voldemort say to Wormtail something about how one of the Deatheater's would give a right hand or something and come to find out Peter has to do just that.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?

Yeah, I still wish they had caught Wormtail and that Voldemort hadn't rerisen...

1) How many times have you read them?
PS - 4 times; CoS - on my 3rd time; PoA - 5 (my favourite); GoF - twice

2) How often do you read them again?
No set time. I usually read them if the urge strikes or before some major HP event, like when the CoS movie came out, I was re-reading, and now that June 21st is coming quickly, I've started the series again.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
I try not too, because, knowing me, there's probably something very important in that passage that I missed the first time around. (It took me 2 re-reads to catch that Sirius Black was in PS.)

4)When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
I definitely laugh at the funny bits, but I don't really cry as much for the sad parts. I guess it's because something has to really shock me to get me to cry, and I can't be shocked if I know what's going to happen. But I'll laugh at pretty much anything, even jokes I've heard more than once.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Definitely. There's always some new link, or some new joke, or new connection that I only catch the second or third time around. With all the theories I've read, I've begun to spot evidence for and against those too, when I reread.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Nope! I look forward to them, and try to figure out scenarios on how they could have avoided what was going to happen. But then, I'm very odd.

1) How many times have you read them?
At least seven times each.

2) How often do you read them again?
SOmetimes right away other times a few weeks apart.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
Nope, because no matter how carefully one may have read them, you never know what nuances each re-reading will bring to light.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
Yes, I am a very emotional person, and my heart is alwas tugged or tickled, lol, i still cry watching Bambi!

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Yes, I think the more you read a book, the more you grasp the subtlety(sp) of it.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
NO, lol. Once you know what happens, I don't try to decieve myself. However i do look for things that might affect future plots and make them turn out well.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
I think all people get different things from the books, but I also think this is a great way to share who you are with other people. Someone else's interpretation may enhance your own enjoyment of the story.

1) How many times have you read them?
Oh I dunno, like 4 ot 5 maybe?

2) How often do you read them again?
Well it depends. Like last summer I read them like 3 times over and over again right away. But then I didn't til christmasy time. And I'm reading them now the first time since then, but this summer will prolly be like last w/ OotP coming out.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
As much as I love HP there are some parts I'd like to skip over sometime. But to make sure I don't, I just stop reading for a while then pick up again.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
Well yeah, especially since I've learned and noticed things most every time. If anything I've become more emotional w/ every reading.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Yeah I do ^^;; mostly since coming to these forums lol! But I definitly do.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Yeah whenever, in PoA, I get to the part where Sirius asks Harry to live with him, I just want the book to end...But I know for plotsake its better this way *sigh*

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
hmm...nope ^^

1) How many times have you read them?
Lost count at about 5. I'm probably at 7 or 8 now.

2) How often do you read them again?
Whenever I feel like it. (Every other month, usually.)

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
Nope.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
Yes. Just last night (I'm in PoA) I laughed about Fred & George greeting Harry "How ya' doin' ole chap? Absolutly spiffing. Mum! How very corking to see you..."

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
I notice little funny bits every once in a while. Nothing substantial.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
As many times as I've read them, no. By now I'm just along for the ride.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
Nope.

1) How many times have you read them?
No comment. You don't want to know.

2) How often do you read them again?
Until sometime last year, I read at least one of them at least once every month, but that's died down since. I'm going through another cycle of rereads now.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
I used to do that with one of the passages in PoA, when Harry was talking to Fudge, but I've stopped since.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
Yes and yes - sometimes more than I did the first time.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Not every time. If that was true, I'd have found 50+ new things and new connections (no, I'm not kidding). I usually notice a bunch of those things the first two rereads and maybe some other things later.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
No. I don't even do those things the first time.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
I'm a big fan of rereading books.

I'm going to read them all in the next 14 days!

1) How many times have you read them?
I really don't know. I've lost count. Perhaps six times each, or so?

2) How often do you read them again?
I read them non-stop for about a year. I'm currently re-reading them to get back into the swing of OotP.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
No.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
Absolutely. I find the books even more tragic when I re-read them. I cry at the happy bits, the sad bits...I'm a non-stop weeper no matter what page I'm reading, lately.

I still laugh at Archie and his nightdress.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Yes. Sometimes I read the books more intently than I did at first, so I'm always picking up new things to add to my book of theories.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Not really...oddly enough I'm still vaguely surprised when the bad things happen. Voldemort's rebirth always gets me going, as do all the bad events surrounding the Chamber of Secrets.

I don't think as many bad thoughts about Sirius any more.

1) How many times have you read them?
I've read each at least a dozen times...probably more.
2) How often do you read them again?
I try reading at least one or two a week...I tend to read them in the mornings before school
3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
I try not to, but it happens...especially with GoF.
4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
Of course!! I tend to find new stuff upon rereading, too.
5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Definitely...the whole Snape/vampire thing completely passed me by on first reading.
6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Sometimes...it depends on what.
7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
I feel that on rereading books, I tend to put them aside and really wonder about certain things. The first time I read them, I read straight through, wanting to know what happened. Each reading since then makes me lay the book down after a certain point and just imagine.
Great survey!!! ;)

1) How many times have you read them? I've read Socerer's Stone about 4 times and 3 times each for the next two and twice for "Goblet of Fire".

2) How often do you read them again? I tend to reread them just before anew book or movie comes out.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there? No, I read it all.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
Sure do.
5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again? Yes, JKR puts SO MUCh into each book it is hard not to come across new things each time.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
No, because I know.

Probabably about 5 times

2) How often do you read them again? Every three months?
At least once a year.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
I usally skip much of PoA when I re-read :o. I usally focus on Proffessor Trelawney, the exchange between Sirus and Wormtail (my favorite part) and Ron and Hermione's "kiss and make up" moment.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
I laugh most definatly at the funny parts...nothing in Harry Potter has made me cry yet however.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
When i read closely i always get something new out of the experince.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Nope...it adds to the drama

1) How many times have you read them?

4 times.

2) How often do you read them again?

About every 6 months.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?

Usually overlong Quidditch scenes. I find these to be a bit of a bore at times.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?

Laugh, yes. Cry...? you're meddling with powers you cannot possibly comprehend.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?

I found that Voldemort's hand puns in reference to Wormtail forshadowing his fate at the end of GoF to be one of the funniest and memorable discoveries when I first re-read the book.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?

Sometimes. It's like watching a movie you've seen before, but you're still at the edge of your seat when the hero is at the brink of getting a limb cut off or his butt kicked.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?

Err... no.

1) How many times have you read them?

I've read all four about 5 times each (in order each time, so they're all the same amount, mind you)

2) How often do you read them again?

Couldn't say. Whenever I feel the need for an HP fix I suppose.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?

Nope. Doing that would ruin the experience, in my opinion.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?

Of course. Its just as silly or sad as the first time ^-^

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?

Yup, very often.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?

Good thread!

1) How many times have you read them?
Um... like more than 50... each.

2) How often do you read them again?
Sometimes a couple of months pass. Then on the other hand, I was on holiday in Turkey during the past week, and brought GoF, which I read and re-read just to have something to read. But that's extreme.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
Yes... I admit it. In GoF, when Harry asks Cho to the ball, those two pages. I always get so embarrassed for Harry...

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
I've never cried during reading them, not even the first time, but I half-chuckle (though not as heartily) at my favorite funny bits.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Not every time... but it's happened. It took me several readings to understand why Crouch/Moody got so alarmed when he saw the Marauders Map

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Not hope... But I can still fiercely whisper "stop" or marvel at the stupidity of some character and whisper "no, not that way, what are you doing"

I laugh at the funny bits but I've never cried during the books.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
I did the first few times, I don't anymore. Hopefully that will change with OotP.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Nope.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?

1) How many times have you read them?
-5 for the first three, and 4 for GoF

2) How often do you read them again?
-I havent read them for a while, but when I did it was maybe every 6 months or something

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
-The passages where they re-explain things like Quidditch

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
-I laugh at some stuff in my head... like Rons famous uranus line

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
-I reread PoA maybe 3 months ago, and I found a number of things I didnt notice before.... too many to even start naming

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?

-The books seem to get better everytime I read them... although nothing changes. I cant wait for OoTP

1) How many times have you read them?
Books 1 and 2 three times, book 3 I've read 4 times and Goblet of Fore 5 times, and once in French too.

2) How often do you read them again?
Whenever i go into a Harry Potter 'phase', these phases seem to be coming more frequently though!

3)Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
Not usually. Actually some people have said they skip the first chapter in GoF but i think that chapter becomes more interseting each time i reread it!

4)When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
Yeah...i always find the jokes in 'The House Elf Liberation Front' funny. I must have a really bad memory aswell, i've reread the books several times but there are still things that happen where i can't remember what happens, and i get surprised - like in book three when Malfoy sees Harry's head while the rest of him is under the invisibility cloak - i was like 'Oh My God! I forget about this! What's gonna happen now?' lol

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Yeah, sometimes. I didn't understand the Riddle House chapter at fist...when i was rereading it for the third time i think i only realised then that the boy Frank says he saw must have been a teenage Voldemort. Oh and the thing about Pettigrew giving his right arm was really cool as well, i didn't notice that straight away.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
No, but i kind of prepare myself for them, i think, ok...get ready, Cedric's about to die, to take an example.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
It's strange how engrossing the books can be even after rereading them for the fifth time or something, you can't put it down despite knowing what's gonna happen

1) How many times have you read them?

I'm not sure what you mean by this.
3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
No, not really, though I do have trouble focusing on some of the more redundant places at times.
4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
Oh yeah. I often get teary just thinking about the end of GoF. I still laugh just as hard as the first time I read them, and I still cry at the sad parts.
5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Yeah, everytime I read them. I notice little things too, like the way she words her sentences and things like that.
6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Yeah. I also get frustrated with the characters when they do stupid stuff.

About 6 times each (mabye 5 for GoF)

Every 6 months I pick up one of them or if I have nothing else to read... or if a new book is coming out (hehehe) then I read them all to refresh my memory.

I know what's going to happen, but I'm still reading the exciting parts completely through

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
My fave quote:
*Ginny starts to cry*
Fred: Don't Ginny we'll send you loads of owls!
George: We'll send you a Hogwarts toilet seat!
Mrs. Weasley: George!
George: Only joking, mum.

1) How many times have you read them?
I honestly do not remember. It's got to be at least 5 or 6, maybe more.

2) How often do you read them again?
Every few months on average, but it varies. Usually when I'm on the forums and need to reference something, I end up reading the book I referenced and then I read the rest of them, too.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
Usually just the ones that explain how to play quidditch and stuff. Oddly enough, I still haven't memorized any passages from the books, despite having read them on a regular basis for the last few years.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
I don't usually cry, but I do burst into fits of laughter all the time. Especially when Fred and George are around.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Every time!!! It's unbelievable. I think I read them carefully last time, but I still find new things. Then I go to the thread that discusses them all :)

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Not really. Only when there's little details I don't remember completely.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
I can't believe how many times I can reread these books. I don't do this with any other books. I wonder if I'll still do it once the entire series is over?

1) How many times have you read them?

Well it is hard to tell because normally because when I have nothing to do, I just go and pick a random page and start reading.

2) How often do you read them again?

When I have read everything else, or if I am just in the mood for Harry Potter.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?

Oh, lots of times. If i start in the middle, and come to a part I have read alot, i will skip it and read it later. And when I first got GoF, for some odd reason, I would skip the 1st chapter too. Then I went back and read it finding out that it was interesting.

4)When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?

Yes of course. Though I did not cry at all..

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?

All the time.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?

Well I dont hope anymore because I already know what is going to happen.

I'm always reading them, usually every day.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?

Yes, indeed.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?

1) How many times have you read them?

5 times since last week.

2) How often do you read them again?

Every 1 to 1/2 year.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?

Yes, at the beginning of each book, JKR does that "let me recap everything for no reason" thing and it makes me mad. So, I get bored with it. Also, in The Sorcerer's Stone, I skip a lot of stuff, because... well, it's just kinda boring in places.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?

Nah. I don't think they're incredibly funny, they're light and humorous at times, but not hilarious. And, I don't think they've been very sad, yet, although, I expect they will with Book 5. I'm more interested in the overall story, like most people.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?

Yep.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?

1) How many times have you read them?
I'm on my 3rd re-reading right now... But I've ONLY read GoF once....

2) How often do you read them again?
When I need to refresh my memory of what's happened.... And since I just seem to forget very nearly EVERYTHING about books when I read them very quickly, same when I see movies... I sorda force myself unconsciously to forget.... But so I'm reading them again before I read OotP, I may even read them twice before I do...!!!!

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
No, I try to read EVERYTHING.... I think there are ONLY a couple books I've EVER skipped parts in.... I think I may have in Potter books the first time through, but now I DON'T want to miss ANYTHING.! I have skipped like 30 pages in Olver Twist though when I was reading it because I was seriously balling and going hysterical from the things happening to Oliver, I was banging around in my room and such.... Yup...

I did wanna skip the part with Aunt Marge in PoA, she makes me sooooooooooo MAD!!!!

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?

Yes, yes I do. Sometimes I think I try to contain my laughter, cause I read in the middle of the night. But in CoS esp. because of Lockhart, I used to ~hate~ him, but now I find him utterly hilarious, how STUPID he is how IGNORANT, its just plain hilarious.!

I haven't cried yet, I think because I've been a bit rushing. Though them, though I shouldn't.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?

Yes, always.... There's *always* LOADS of stuff I'm finding that I NEVER found before.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?

Yeah, like when in PoA with Aunt Marge he can't get the Permission slip signed for Hogesmeade, but them I guess we wouldn't have all the adventures we do in this book.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?

Nope not really, good survey.! :D I'm trying to think of something.... Not really.

Lately I've been thinking about scenes from books and I go back and read them only. Usually it's only one or two scenes from a book.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?

1) How many times have you read them?

20 or 21 times all 4 (yeah, still don't have 5) on my language and 1 on English.

2) How often do you read them again?

I read them whenever I feel bored to death.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?

Sometimes, yes. I once skipped the first few chapters in first book.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?

Yeah! I always laugh about Ron's and Fred/George's comment... and that part about Archie in book 4. I am also very sad when Cedric dies - I somehow always think that maybe when I read the book one more time Cedric wouldn't die...

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?

Almost every time - then I straight go to Great Hall and post my thought.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?

I already said that. (About Cedric)

1) How many times have you read them?
well I just started reading HP last summer, so I think 5 times is a pretty good start.

2) How often do you read them again?
maybe twice a year

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
Nah! I always try to look for connections, so I read the whole thing.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
yes...just last night re-reading book for, the whole Cedric thing...it still gets me.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Oh def.!! Especially now that book five came out.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
LOL yeah I think that's the human condition,;) I still wish Voldemort would drown in that darn cauldron.

1) How many times have you read them?
I started them about a year and a half ago. I would wager a guess at about 6 or 7.

2) How often do you read them again?
Depends on how busy i am. If i have loads of spare time, i can re-read them maybe twice in summer and once over winter. If a new one in the series is coming out, like OotP i re-read them twice just as a prelude ;)

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
No! If you're going to re-read them, got to enjoy them thoroughly. You'll be amazed at what little details you forget.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
The funny parts probably make me laugh more in time, just as the sad parts probably get me more in time.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Yeah things seem to click together better everytime you re-read them.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
If you can continue to get involved in the story each time you read, sure!

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?

1) How many times have you read them?

I have read books 1 and 2 about three or four times, PoA 6 times, and GoF 7 times, I think...

2) How often do you read them again?

I always take them with me on holidays and trips, whenever I have the time.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?

No, I don't think so...

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?

Yes!! Fred and George's jokes still make me laugh every time I read them as well as Ron's, it's too much fun, and the end of GoF always makes me cry. I'm a crybaby.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?

Yep, although I tend to forget them afterwards heh

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?

Yes, specially that brief moment in PoA when Harry thinks he's going to live with Sirius, I still imagine Harry all happy with Sirius for a bit before everything goes wrong... and "listen to Hermione, please!! just this once!!"

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?

1) How many times have you read them?

I've read them all (except book 5) at least 5-7 times.

2) How often do you read them again?

Whenever I feel like it.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?

No, I find nothing boring in the books and never skip anything.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?

Yes! The funny parts never get old, and they still can get a chuckle out of me.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?

Yeah, sometimes I catch the little clues and red herrings she had left behind for us to figure things out.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?

Yes, like when Cedric dies, and especially when I know the end of the book is near!

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
Nope.

1) How many times have you read them?
I haven't often read them in order, so it varies on the book. The Philosopher's Stone I have only read about 3 times, whereas I've lost count of the times I've re-read the Prisoner of Azkaban and the Goblet of Fire ...

2) How often do you read them again?
I might be able to get through a handful of different books before the urge to read Harry Potter kicks in again. I never get bored of them, and will always have a fresh urge to read them, especially if I haven't read them for a while.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
No. I always read from cover to cover.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
Yes! Though some bits become less funny, and some bits start to seem more funny in time. I re-read the Order of the Phoenix and the sad bits seemed sadder than the first time round, though, because there wasn't the initial shock.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Not every time, but often. I'll be reading the book with a different frame of mind, or something and something will click. Also, you pick up the smaller details once you've filtered the main plot.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Yep. One instance is when Harry is waiting for the first task in the Goblet of Fire ... I always feel incredibly nervous at that bit, because J.K. Rowling manages to bottle that feeling so well. Every time I feel as anxious as Harry does, even though I know what's going to happen.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
None that I can think of :)

1) How many times have you read them?
Oh dear. I've lost track entirely. About a million times, maybe.

2) How often do you read them again?
Well, I reread all of them regularily every few months. And, of course, I read them to prepare every single time a new movie or book comes out. Then I read them between my regular readings for miscellaneous reasons (e.g. the time I went through an made a list of every single Snape scene!).

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I think that it's my duty as an obsessive Potterhead to know all the little details from all of the books. Even if it means I have to read scenes I don't like (e.g. all the S.P.E.W. stuff).

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
Of course! Who wouldn't? It's part of the reason I love these books so much.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Yes! I find it particularily interesting to go back and look at the hints JKR provided about what was coming up (e.g. hints in GoF of what was to come in OotP).

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Yes. In a way it's almost worse because I know what's going to happen. I get all anxious and antsy.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
No

one time each of them was out loud to my sister (yes i read all of OotP out loud in less than 2 weeks)

2) How often do you read them again?
when ever i don't have anythnig else to read and i am bored; i only read them for the first time a year ago.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
only hagrid story about going to visit the giants

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
i usually start laughing before i read the funny parts because i know they are coming.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
YES!

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?

1) How many times have you read them?
I've read the first two three times each, PoA a few more than that, and GoF and OotP twice (so far!)

2) How often do you read them again?
Not as often as I would like! I'm ashamed to admit I read GoF within the week it came out in summer 2000 and then didn't read any Potter books again until OotP! I'd forgotten so much of what had happened over the "three year summer" that I was greatly confused through most of book 5! (Not that this kept me from enjoying every minute of it!) But, I have since reread all of the books and am in awe of a) how well-planned out they seem and b) on seeing a forum like CoS for the first time, how many people they seem to touch! I love all the books! (though some more than others . . .)

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
Nope. I know I would miss something, though I find the Quidditch sequences a tad long sometimes ::GASP::

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
I've never truly "cried" although I have gotten - and continue to get - teary-eyed. If anything, humor-wise, I find the books wittier and funnier the more I read them! :agree: Fred, George and the (seemingly) often-overlooked Lee Jordan are the greatest!

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Yes of course! But I haven't read them 20+ times as other people have! Not yet anyway!

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Most certainly! There are so many "what ifs" in nearly all of the books (esp. Book 5!), but I guess if everything always went smoothly and no one ever got hurt we wouldn't have much of a story! ::sighs::

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
Does any one else feel GoF was a bit dull? When I re-read it (after three years) and didn't really remember much of what happened at all, I realized why I hadn't bothered to re-read: something is missing. (What exactly this "something" is remains to be seen) It's not nearly (with the possible exception of the last few chapters) as exciting as the other four books! OotP has raised my personal love of anything and everything Potter to an entirely new level, whereas GoF did nothing for me; I read it and was done with it. Hmmm . . . maybe I am not the only one?

[QUOTE=i lurve snuffles]1) How many times have you read them?
Before OotP came out I had read each about three or four times, with PoA maybe six or seven. Then I read OotP twice and then all five in order. So I guess I have read OotP three times and the rest 4-7 times.

2) How often do you read them again?
If I don't have any homework at all and there's nothing to do I'll pick one up. Maybe every few months.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
Rather than skip passages I just read scenes I really like. So I may read the Time Turner sequence, the CoS climax, "The Riddle House" and "Unforgivable Curses" chapters, the OotP fight scene (that's not a spoiler, is it?), etc but normally not the whole book.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
I haven't totally cried yet, but I'll chuckle to my self once in a while when rereading.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Definitely! But usually I'll figure something out and go on the Internet and find out everyone else had realized this seven months ago.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Sure.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
Does anyone else think that if Books 3, 4, and 5 were like the first two books in the series that none of us would be here right now? I mean Books 1 and 2 were great childrens' books, the best you might normally see, but we all would have outgrown them a little. I mean, you reread those books and they're definitely not as good as the last three. You guys agree?

Yes! I read OotP (Harry at his best, IMO) and then CoS and its slightly comical how different (read: immature) Harry especially seems. In the beginning of CoS after he and Ron crash into the whomping willow, the thing Harry is most concerned about is whether or not points will be taken from Gryffindor! He's been forced to grow up so much in books 4 and 5; house points are the last thing on his mind, and rightly! But poor Harry since he never really had a childhood! He should have more emotional issues than he does, having grown up with the Dursleys!

Oh and I totally relate, too, to how you'll think you've figured something interesting out and everyone on the internet already has that bit figures out, and then some! Like rereading GoF I was so confused about the "wand order" (I guess I have a first edition and never paid attention to the order details at the time) but then I go online and it's like "Oh yah! That was such a big deal! It's all been changed now, no matter!" ANYway . . .

2) How often do you read them again? Umm... a lot!

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there? No, I always read it straight through. It makes me feel weird to skip over parts.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things? Yep.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again? Yeah, I always come up with new ideas and it drives me crazy.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen? Yeah, especially the part in the PoA where Lupin changed into a werewolf and Pettigrew escaped... I wanted to scream at Lupin for not taking his potion! When you've already read a book you know what's going to happen, and it always drives me nuts because I always think up a hundred different things they could have done to prevent something or make it better.

1. How many times have you read them?: well, I've read the first three books about four times and the other two books three times. I'm rereading them all.....again.
2. How often do you read them?: every few months I'd say.
3. Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?: no, I just read everything.
4. When you reread a book, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry at sad things?: well, I never really cried at the sad parts. I still laugh at some of the funny parts and I feel bad at the sad parts.
5. Do you discover new things and connections that you didn't see before?: I'd say that I do. I mean, the more you read the books, the more they make sense. Watching the movies sometimes helps with what you don't understand.
6. Do you hope that bad things won't happen, even though you know that they will?: well yeah, anybody who has read the Harry Potter books over and over again would have to say that they hope that everything will be fine, even though things won't be.
7. Any personal comments?: not that I can think of at the moment.

1) How many times have you read them?
Way too many times to count.

2) How often do you read them again?
About every few months the bug will hit me and I'll read them all at least twice.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
I'm ashamed to admit this, but yes. I almost always skip the bit when Harry and Ron steal the car in CoS. And sometimes when I'm tired, I catch myself merely scanning the paragraphs instead of actually reading them. That's when I know it's time to put them back on the shelf for a few months again.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
Fred and George never, ever cease to amuse me. I don't think I've ever cried, though.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Yes, every once in a while I'll catch something new that I think might be significant. More often than not, though, I just catch stupid things, like mistakes.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
Yes. Patricularly in OoTP, when Harry uses Umbridge's fire to check if Sirius is really gone from Grimmauld Place. I keep hoping that Sirius will burst into the room at the last moment, and Harry won't have to go to the Department of Mysteries.

1) How many times have you read them?
I've read each book except Sorcerer's Stone three times. I've read SS four times.

2) How often do you read them again?
I read them every summer. It's a tradition for me.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
No, but sometimes I zone out a bit while reading them. It's not completely authentic to me to skip things.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
Yeah, I always laugh at Fred and George and tear up at the end of OotP.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
Yeah, I think about how important certain characters will become, and I pay closer attention to CoS.

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen?
No.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?
Don't think so.

1) How many times have you read them? well, the first two i've only read a few times. they are shorter, and in my opinion not as interesting.

2) How often do you read them again? whenever i feel the urge. i reread the 5th one recently. during the summer, i find time amongst my many books to reread harry potter. :D

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there? i'm not particularly fond of the car-crashing-into-the-whomping-willow sequence, so i usually skip over that one.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things? i laugh aloud often enough. a good example is in the fifth book, when ginny is telling ron (or hermione telling ron for ginny) of her various boyfriends.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?yes. it took me until the second reading or so to understand the part in which cho's friend gets "sneak" on her forehead, then forgets. i sometimes read so fast (as in this case) that i miss things. i missed the spell cast on her by shacklebolt...

6) Do you still hope bad things aren't going to happen when you read the books again, even though you know that they are going to happen? ah, yes. somehow i try to convince myself that something bad won't happen. too much wishful thinking, i suppose.

7) Any personal comments about something I didn't ask?you've pretty much touched on them all. :tu:

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there? in the 4th book, i once skipped the 1st chapter and one of the last ones (blood, flesh, bones?or something like that where peter makes the potion for voldemort to come bacK) just because i didn't feel like reading that part...i think i skipped from right after cedric dying to where harry comes back...

1) How many times have you read them?
-I think too many times as I have read OotP at least 15 times, so too many times...

2) How often do you read them again?
-When I am bored in the vacations I read the books.

3) Do you ever skip passages you don't want to read again because you don't like them or because they bore you cause you can tell exactly what's said there?
-Definitely the chapter during Christmas when HP doesn't show himself as he's scared of being possesed. I think that chapter sort of bugged me.

4) When you read a book again, do you still laugh about funny bits or cry about sad things?
-I must say I have never cried when reading HP. I do laugh every time when Fred and George ask if they are neighbours.

5) Do you discover new things, or connections between things you never saw before, every time you read a book again?
-Well, sometimes when like I have just read something on the forum, I check it.
