Most people don't like them anymore... they just think of "MMMBop" but I could get lucky and come across another Hanson fan.
If you guys have open minds you'll watch Jay Leno this Tuesday and tell me what you think about their new music...or song really. ;)
They are actually good musicians...mmmbop doesn't define them.
I hate that song.

Ok, i shouldnt comment, but... JESUS THEY LOOKED LIKE GIRLS AND SOUNDED LIKE GIRLS, WHEN I FIRST HEARD AND SAW THEM I THOUGHT THEY WERE UGLY GIRLS. ok, sorry, hopefully they do have some skills, but I doubt it.

Well, it all depends on your taste. I never liked them for their looks. Um...ew. Ha, but I like their music. To each his own. I was expecting people to say "Eewww, they suck. They look like girls". Happens ALL the time.
But seeing as how they're now 22, 20 and 17 they don't look or sound like girls.
Thank you very much.

I never liked them. Hanson came out when I was starting to get out of like 'pop' music. Everyone I knew went nuts for them.

I never went crazy for them. Thank god. I would've drove people around me crazy. And I would be embarrassed about it now.

I think it's natural to be embaressed by our former music tastes. I used to like the Spice Girls!

I heard one of their songs on the old Wierd Al Show years ago. I thought they had great potential, but they definitly weren't my cup of tea. I see how some people like them, though.

When I saw Hanson for the first time on TV when I was 6, I was like "Mommy! Why do those girls sound like boys?".
I later found out from my friend's sister that they were boys.
I really didn't like them. They looked like fruitcakes.

You got Lucky!
I was a huge Hanson fan, and, to a certain extent I still am, although they don't really release anything in England any more.
I enjoyed Man from Milwake (sp) and I really loved MMMBop, it was immensly singable!

Argh.. I hate to admit it but I was a huge Spice girl fan when I was like 11/12... Now, the very thought of them sickens me.
I swear, when I first saw the video of mmmbop I thought the band consisted of two girls and a guy(the oldest) ... and you know, they even sounded like girls.

Very ashamed to admitt it but I do like Hanson (goes red in face!!). I thought Taylor was so hot! I thought he was a guy all along. Scary! Shh, don't tell anyone!

I thought Taylor and Zac were girls when I first saw the MMMBop video too. But who doesn't sound like a girl at 11? I know you didn't have a deep "man's" voice when you were that young. As for Taylor...he's always been prettier than me...curse him, lol. His voice was changing during the recording of Middle of Nowhere...at 13. And that's the normal change, am I right?
And dyingmoon...you shouldn't be ashamed. If people are going to tease or do whatever you should just be proud you aren't a crowd follower. I am. Well, I could be called one since I liked them when they were popular...but the difference is that I still like them.
Crystal - I hope they do go to England. Just for you! =D
And I used to like the Spice Girls too. I still have a lot of the stuff I bought back then. And every once in a while when i get nostalgic for be 10 and 11 I'll watch Spice World.
I'm not ashamed of what I liked. Just a period in my life.

Another Hanson fan has joined the thread! I've liked them forever, I get so sick of people defining them as "those boys that looked like girls that sang mmmbop". that was what, 6 years ago?
I did watch them on Leno tonight, and I thought it was fantastic! I live in Maryland, and their first stop on the tour they're going on soon is about 30 mins away from me! I'm getting my tickets tomorrow! :) :)

MMMBop sucks. It WAS the song that got me into Hanson in the first place, so I'm thankful for that. But now I can't listen to it without rolling my eyes...in...well, disgust, I guess.
But the new stuff, and old stuff, ie. This Time Around, DO have real lyrics. Good Stuff man, good stuff. I know you don't care though...no one actually goes and listens to new stuff. MMMBop sucked, so everything else will too.

I've always been one to judge music and not the artists who produce the music. Hanson was the only artist I listened to four years ago. Now that they haven't released anything since that time their albums have collected dust but they had emense talent for the ages that they were. If people that don't like them listened to some of the songs that were never released I think they would see that there are some very strong messages in their music. I know "Weird" has a strong one, or maybe it was just me that interpreted it that way.

I've been a fan since I was 16. I am now 22 (eek).
It's no so much MMMBop they need to loose, it's the image (long-haired boys). MMMBop is a great song, if you actually pay attention to the lyrics. It's a word coined by Hanson, meaning a frame of time (like an instant).
In an MMMBop (instant) they're gone
Trust me, Hanson is NOT the first band to coin a word. If it hadn't been by three little boys, no one would have minded. MMMBop should not be forgotten, because it is good. However, they now have a range of songs that can appeal to many.
They have always been very talented, but now, six years later, they have improved a great deal. I know some non-believers will become believers :smooch:
And YES, all three have lost the hair!

Yeah lol, the word soon to Hanson fans is like an uptight person hearing a cuss word. We shiver at the sound of it, lmao.
I hope they add some more dates to their tour but I'm too poor to go out of state for a concert.
They go to LA, Las Vegas and Denver and I'm right in the middle of 'em all in Arizona.
I hope you have fun at the Maryland(?) show. That's the first one, right?

yep! I thought for sure, they weren't coming to this area. They had come to DC for the other two tours, so I didn't think they'd come back. But they are. I will definitly have fun. Well, I don't know the new songs they'll be singing, so I won't be able to sing along, but it should still be great anyway.

I was a fan, i thought Taylor was the cutest back then, i thought MMMBOP was a good song, espcailly if you really listen to the lyrics of the song
I thought there other ablum was good as well that came out in 2000, defiently more older sound to it
I did see them on Leno and that song was good as well. I think they have grown a lot , Zach has short hair, as does Issca and Taylor hair is shorter , longer then the others,. Heck Taylor is know married and has a son who will be one on Oct 31 2003
I cant wait to hear the new cd, i have always respect them because they wrote their own music and songs, and were very invloved in it if someone worked with them, They didnt do all the danceing that BSB, and NYSNC did

This thread kinda died, but I saw them last night at the Birchmere in Virginia, and I have to say it was the best concert I have ever been to! It was absolutely amazing. If anyone else here has been to any of the shows on their acoustic tour, you probably know what I'm talking about. The only thing that's sad is the club wouldn't allow any cameras inside the club, so I couldn't take any pictures. :(

I went to one of their shows too. September 3rd in Tempe, AZ.
We weren't TECHNICALLY supposed to bring cameras either...but my mom snuck ours in. But they had people searching the whole venue for people with cameras during the show so we only managed 4 pictures before we got too freaked that they were going to see us and take our camera.
Which would suck 'cause it's quite a nice one.
It was an amazing show. Best out of the few concerts I've been to. Which is 4 Michelle Branch concerts, 2 other Hanson concerts in 2000, and a Goo Goo Dolls/Sugar Ray/Fastball concert in 1998.

I haven't heard the new album or the new single, probably because the other ones annoyed me to death about 34 times over, but I have to say that I respect a band that play their own instruments. It takes a bit more talent than being a backstreet boy. The lyrics in the Hanson songs in the past were very cheesy and non-poetic, but I'm sure they matured as a group. After all, it shows a bit of maturity to walk away from the public and live your life a little and then come back to it. Plus, songwriting is hard and unless your a professional, not everyone is bound to like or understand it.

talentless? Really? Just because you don't like them, doesn't mean they're talentless. They write all their own songs, play their own instruments, produce their albums, and recently were able to get off of the label (Island Def Jam) so they could have more control over their sound, have opened their own record label, which they released their new record on.
::edit::
And they're hardly teenage boys anymore (quite the insult coming from a 12yr old). They're 18, 21 and 23. One is married with a baby.

hazzar! i love their new album. i'm such a loser. i was most upset, they were recently in australia and only did the one concert. i wasn't brave enough to get tickets, but the time i built up the courage they had sold out (really quickly but). but i've been going mad, tapping them everytime they're on the tv. they were on rovelive and today. so yeah, that fed my hanson craving for a bit. though last night, i had the strangest dream, i was at their concert but they were singing a mixture of placebo and beatle songs. yeah go figure.
how much better looking are they now? they released their new album a month and a bit ago here( that is Australia) just look at taylor! love your defense Hufflepuffy! go you good thing. just because a band doesn't suit you're taste doesn't mean they aren't good or that they don't appeal to others.
one last thing. i was playing music on my computer on random. some how i went from rare version of beatle songs, to John Butler Trio, to Placebo, to Marilyn Manson then Hanson. that's how diverse my taste is.

i loved hanson when they came out my sister and i would fight over who would be with them, i don't know why i am telling anyone this, though issac was never one of our choices. personally i wish they still had their long hair it was apart of their trademark. also once my cousin had this cd of theirs which i didn't even though i had that song on the album and so i really wanted to take it from her although i never did. my obsession with them is now over mainly because when i moved schools in year 5 and no one liked them and being new i wanted friends so i stopped liking them plus i haven't heard anything new from them in years. i also liked the spice girls and my friends and i still like to reminisce on occasions. its good music to sing to because we all know the songs and dances and once again i don't know why i'm telling people this but sorry if i liked my childhood.

I wouldn't say they are talentless. Quite the opposite, though pop does not thrill me, they are among the few pop things I can stand. Taylor Hanson, which I believe is the brain behind the band certainly has a lot of talent. At least, they compose their own songs (lyrically and musically), and that's saying something for those pre-fabricated pop bands and singers you can find nowadays. Not only they compose their music, but in live performance they play instruments, and they do pretty decent shows!!! Has anyone here seen Britney Spears or Blackstreet Boys playing guitar? piano? writing good tunes? I don't think so...
Their last album has a tune that I really like a lot. It's called "Believe", and I also consider their song "Weird" as another great tune.
I wish pop bands were like them, then pop may gain a better position among listeners.

It's so great to find other Hanson fans on here! The guys aren't completely forgotten. I can really recommend everybody who hasn't heard anything from them in a while to listen to the album Underneath. It's been out in the States for quite a while I think, but it's just being released now in Europe. You can really hear they've grown as artists, the album is less pop and more rock'n roll. I saw their acoustic show in Berlin, it was absolutely amazing! :tu: I know they are coming back to several European cities in April to give an electric show, so I'll make sure I'll be there.

My best friend (girl) is really into them. She's going to the concert in a few weeks. I agree: they're more talented than most popstars, since they compose their own songs and play their own instruments. That does not mean I like them though, they're just not my taste in music.

Whatever anyone says, Taylor is just as hott as ever. He has never turned ugly. Like ..ahem...Zac. Hanson rocks. Their music never ever gets old. I love them!!!!

It's too bad that Hanson is still seen as a boy band like the backstreet boys or whatever. :td: They are just a band and they happen to be three guys. I couldn't care less about what Taylor looks like. I just love his singing voice. And that's the only thing that counts.

Well I never was a fan of Hason. Didnt like pop music much but my best friend loved them. I mean she drove from Minnesota to Utah just to meet them and go to a concert so I heard alot of them. She doesnt like them so much anymore but on really boring summer nights we love cranking it in her tracker and drive down the main drag. We also do that with classical music... its fun either way
