Hey, I was wondering if anyone is a fan of 'The OC' a new show on FOX. I think it's a great show, granted I have only seen one episode, but I loved it and was wondering if anyone here feels the same.

Synopsis: THE O.C. is a story of fathers and sons, husbands and wives and the coming of age of three young people. Orange County is an idyllic paradise: a wealthy, harbor front community where everything and everyone appears to be perfect. But beneath the surface is a world of shifting loyalties and identities, of kids living secret lives hidden from their parents and of parents living secret lives hidden from their children.

Ryan Atwood (Benjamin McKenzie), a troubled teen from the wrong side of the tracks, is thrust into this world when Sandy Cohen (Peter Gallagher), an idealistic pro-bono public defender, invites him to stay in his guesthouse. Ryan soon learns that nothing is what it seems, and his arrival serves as the catalyst for forging new alliances, rekindling old flames and striking unlikely friendships. Sandy's wife, Kirsten (Kelly Rowan)--a wealthy and beautiful former homecoming queen and the perfect spouse, mother and businesswoman--isn't happy that Ryan has moved in. And she's worried about how the change will affect her and Sandy's teenage son, Seth (Adam Brody), a soulful dreamer ostracized by his peers.

Meanwhile, Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton), the heartbreakingly beautiful girl next door, seems to glide through life effortlessly--that is, until the indiscretions of her wealthy father, Jimmy (Tate Donovan) threaten to break her world apart.

I didnt catch the show, but one of my best friends has seen it 9 times already (she taped it), and she keeps pestering me to watch it. Obviously, she thought it was pretty good.

I taped it too because I watch A LOT of tv and I was watching something else at that time. I didn't know they were going to be repeating it. Anyhow, when I did watch it, I fell in love with it. I'm definitely going to keep up with the show. It reminds me of all the kids that live in the northern part of my city. They're all rich bored kids doing way more drugs then the kids on my side of town (the lower social economical side). I ended up watching it twice because I wanted my friends to watch it too. I don't want to be the only one hooked.

I was really excited for the first episode because the commercials made it look really cool, but it wasn't as good as I expected. I think I'll probably still watch it every week though.

I really liked it. I thought it was gonna be all dumb 90210 like(granted I did watch that, but I was in middle school then) but it was pretty cool. Plus, I'm not sure if that kid is as old as me or not, but he's pretty cute. lol.

I don't know.. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be another cheesy California TV series... (like Baywatch... argh)
I haven't seen any of the show so I can't really say whether I like the show or not...

I watch the show and like it a lot. Actually, I mainly like the guy who plays Seth. I think his name is Adam Brody or something? Anyway, the show's pretty good. I can't wait till they get out of summer and head to school or whatnot. i was thinking it would sort of be like 90210 but it's not. It can only get better.

I don't have cable but I'd probably watch it because I've been a huge Mischa Barton fan for years. I'm a little disapointed that she's doing a teen show though. She's too good for that.

Yes, it will be. Same time on Monday.

I'm a fan for the most part. I loved the first episode but I was a little disappointed by latter half of the second. Marissa's reaction to Ryan when he told her she couldn't spend the night was a little over dramatic and Luke, while rescuing Ryan from the fire was understandable, giving Ryan and a ride and confessing it was an accident when the cops arrested Ryan was a poorly done character change considering we were lead to believe he was a popular punk who couldn't stand Ryan and couldn't care less about what happened to him.

I initially thought it was going to be dumb, but I have to admit that I'm hooked. Granted, the last part of the second episode was clunky, in that the guy just suddenly had a sudden moral urge, but I think the series as a whole will be pretty good.

Compared to some of the stuff on network TV these days, I think The OC is pretty good. I especially like Benjamin McKenzie as Ryan Atwood, he has that lovely brooding but really a good guy on the inside vibe that I adore so much.

But I dislike Marissa Cooper...or maybe its the actress who plays the part. I dunno, all I know is that while watching the show I grew increasingly annoyed with the her. There's no specific reason why, its just one of those things I guess.

Anyway, I only hope that The OC will continue to deliver entertaining shows.

They advertised that show more than you could shake a stick at. I purposely didn't watch that show for that reason. The way I saw it, it had better be the best thing since sliced bread or I'll throw the TV out the window. So I saved myself the trouble and didn't watch it. :p

if there's any character i don't like it's Summer. i don't think her actin is that good. and the second part of the second show was a bit whacked. but i still have high hopes. it can only get better.

I hated the advertisements for it, and was planning not to watch it because all the ads (and I hated the California song) but I watched it because I had nothing better to do, and I liked it, I also now like that song...maybe their are some kind of sibliminal (sp?) messages in it, but I am not going to worry about it.

It kind of reminds me of The Outsiders, only with one greaser-like character instead of a gang of them. Seth struck me as socially inept, and he really seems like he prefers being alone.

I've been watching it for the past few weeks too. I've not obsessive about it, but it's something to watch. At least it's not reality.

And I agree with you SES, Seth is Eric Foreman. He's the main reason I watch the show now.

Oh My Gosh! No one is as big of a fan as I am! I think Ryan is so cute and he and Marissa are so perfect for each other! Luke is cute but he's a totall jerk. Did anyone see the season premire? I missed it so I need to know what happened. I saw the last episode where Marissa found out about Luke and attempted suicide but I missed the new one.

Does anyone know where I could find an O.C. pick for a sig?

Does anyone know if Ryan got into the school in the last episode - I got up to the part where he skips out on the test to get Marissa out of the hospital, but I didn't catch the rest.

I absolutely love Seth - he's on my list of hot nerdy guys along with Gideon Yago

From the parts that I saw last night - Julie wants sole custody of the kids, because she blames Jimmy for Marissa and what happened in Mexico. They're also debating on wether or not they should send Marissa to a rehab center in San Diego. Marissa doesn't want to go - calls Ryan up - and him and his friends break her out of the Hospital. Ryan is also trying to get into the same school that Seth, Summer, and Marissa are in - and that's about all I know...

Right. Then Jimmy calls Julie - or Julie calls Jimmy, I can't remember which - and Jimmy says that Marissa is there (the others are waiting in the car). Marissa splits, and she and Ryan talk for a while. They go back to the Cohens' place and Julie comes over. Marissa hides while Ryan talks to Julie, then she appears and tells Julie that she doesn't want to go to rehab in San Diego, and she wants to live with Jimmy. Julie is shocked, to say the least. Can't remember what happens after that, but later Ryan goes back to Dr. Kim, the principal at Seth's school, because he got up in the middle of taking the entrance exam to go see Marissa. Dr. Kim agrees to let him into the school, after Sandy talks to her for a while. And that's about it.

Well they made out in the ferris wheel tonight.

The show's pretty boring. I was hoping for something like Dawson's Creek. It could be stupid but a lot more happened. This show.. I was switching back and forth between Angel. Both shows lulled me to sleep.

HannahStarr
November 6th, 2003, 9:05 pm
Don't worry, Weatherby, last night's episode lput me to sleep, too. Besides the fact that Anna made out with Seth to get Summer's attention at the same time that Ryan and Marissa made out on the Ferriws Wheel, and Sandy and Kirsten made out in the pool area, I almost fell asleep. Too much kissing, not enough action.

Ya, Seth RULES!!! ...and, why are they letting Ryan's hair get all shaggy?? He looked so much more like Russell Crowe and so much less like Haley Joel Osment with his clean-cut do. on another annoying topic, why does Marissa suck so badly?? My GOD she's a bad actress! That faky snob accent and that wierd limp hair. Ryan you can do so much better, man! ...and as for the whole Anna vs. Summer thing, Anna is definitley the wiser and cuter choice. I have to admit, though, Summer's quirky shallow ways are growing on me.

god help me, I'm so addicted to fox this season!

HannahStarr
November 21st, 2003, 9:32 pm
Does anyone want to tell me what happened in the first 30 minutes of Wednesday's episode? Here's what I understood:

Seth invited Anna over for Thanksgiving dinner (was he being friendly, or was it some ploy to make Summer jealous?) and Ryan went back to his hometown with Marissa to get a car so he could pay off his brother's debt to some guy (right?). Is that all that happened in the first half hour?

November 24th, 2003, 2:30 am
I'm addicted to this show, much more than the horrible "Skin' with that girl's screechy voice from the promos. i voed NOT to watch that show because it was horribly overhyped.

Last weeks episode of O.C. as told by Kaonashi:

It's Thanksgiving time, and the Cohen family is gettting ready! First up, the mom wants to cook. Seth begs her not to. Apparently she is horrible at it. While all of this is going down, Ryan gets a phone call from his bro, begging him to come see him. You can tell that Mrs Cohen really doesn't want him to, but he says he can go and be back in time for supper. Hooray!
Meawhile, Marissa pops up and finds out where Ryan is going and invites herself along.

(the rest is in no paticular order, just how I remember things)

Anna pops up for din-din and immediately becomes a hit as she tosses around her fancy pedrigree and helps makes dinner. Mr. Cohen tells Seth that she seems like quite the catch. Mrs Cohen is really digging into the booze. As part of some nefarious plan, the Cohens have invited both Marissa's dad and Mr. Cohen's secretary over for dinner in some sort of sordid match-making scheme. Both the secretary and Jimmy are on to the scheme however, and are having none of it....until they both discover that they are both football fans.

Meanwhile, Ryan goes out to Chino, where he is greeted by his beat-up brother. His brother has brought him out there to get his help in delivering a vehicle to his nemesis, so he won't get beat-downs on the prison yard anymore. He agrees, and tries to send Marissa home. Marissa, being Marissa, lies and says her mom knows where she is at so she can tag along. Once at the old homestead, Ryan stops by his next door neighbor's house. Surrrprize! it's his ex-girlfriends house! The Ex lets him in after berating him about only coming over for seeing her brother, and also not for stopping by to tell her goodbye, or even to break things off. Bad Ryan! The "Girl Next Door" irony is not lost on Marissa, who sits downwith ex-girly and her mom and "helps" get their thanksgiving dinner started (AKA get the juice on Ryan, tee hee).

Meanwhile, back at OC, ding-dong! Guess who? It's...SUMMER! Seth takes her out to the guesthouse to be "comfortable" (aka "not bump into Anna). They make out! Hooray! He makes up some dumb excuse about potatoes burning or some such nonsense, then goes back to the main house and takes Anna upstairs. Whoo-hoo! They make out! Bad Seth! Then he makes up some other lame excuse and leaves her with his toy horse.

Downstairs, Mrs Cohen is really hitting the booze. DingDong! It's her Dad...along with Julie (otherwise known as The Skank Queen, or TSQ)! Something went wrong with thier dinner, so they decide to make their way over to the Cohen's to mooch. Big Daddy is rude to Mr Cohen. Mrs Cohen throws back more wine. TSQ finds Jimmy and the secretary in the living room and immediately starts to argue about Marissa and gets an attitude about him being there with another woman (the NERVE!!!) Mrs Cohen drinks up all the wine and is getting TRASHED at this point. Seth contines to go back and forth from Anna to Summer.

At Chino; Marissa finds out all sorts of dirt from ex-girly (who is v.pretty and v. nice, all things considering), including the fact that Ryan used to be involved with the theatre at his old school, and was quite the actor! He was even Snoopy! Awwwww! While is he there, taking with the fine papi that is his ex's brother, he gets a panicked phone call from Seth muttering things about how having two women ain't all it's cracked up to be yadda yadda yadda. He also lets it slip that both Marissa's parents are there and they don't have a clue as to where she is. Busted! After he gets the car and Ryan and Marissa go outside, he tells her to take herself on home 'cause she lied. Onward to the Nemesis's house( some raggedy auto-body place), where the Nemesis doesn't waste any time telling Ryan that the car doesn't even begin to cover his brother's debts. Doublecross! He tells him "I've been waiting for this moment!" then produces his homies out of nowhere, where they proceed to start in on giving Ryan The Beat-Downs To End All Beatdowns. HONK!HONK! It's Marissa, in a van! Quick Ryan, run! He jumps in, they take off! Hurray!

Meanwhile, the Great Cohen Holiday has gone all to hell. Everyone is arguing. Seth let it slip that Marissa is in Chino with Ryan, and everything hit the fan. Everyone is screaming. Ms Cohen has cleaned out the wine and is now on marguritas. (at this point I was hoping she would be drunk enough to tell everyone to GTFO, but no such luck) At this point, Seth screams "The OVEN!" The dinner has burned! Ms Cohen bursts into tears, then runs upstairs. Her Dad tells everyone to calm down, and they end up getting Chinese food instead.
Oh yeah, earlier Mr Cohen busts Summer in the pool house. He pulls his son aside and tells him that he has to choose between the girls. Seth can't decide. The girls discover themselves in the main house (when the smell of burnt turkey and dressing forces them out of their resepctive hidey-holes to investigate), where they promptly go off on Seth for being deceitful and both leave. Seth is devastated.

Ryan and Marissa get home. TSQ tries to go off on her, but Ms Cohen's dad makes her shut up by saying "It's Thanksgiving." (HURRAY!) Mr. Cohen sits on his bed, eating Chinese Food next to an unconscious Ms Cohen. Jimmy and the secretary are on the couch, eating and Jimmy asks her out for a later date. The kids eat Chinese food.

~FIN~

If you guys ever miss an episode, you really should check out the OC section on fox.com. They give a re-cap of every episode after it airs. It's generally very detailed and reliable. Fox is pretty good about that all around. I missed the T.J. episode of OC this season, and it totally saved me from the anguish of missed-show confusion. I use it for 24 a lot also.

Yea, Ryan still got into the school, even after he left the test. He went back and explained the situation to the Principal or whoever she is? I missed last night's episode, and I read the summary on Fox.com, but I'm still a little confused. First off, what the heck is the "Seth Cohen Started Pack?" Second, why did Kirsten tell Sandy that she might be fired? Third, is Julie still dating (or whatever she was doing) Kirsten's dad?

MadMagic
December 4th, 2003, 10:50 pm
The Seth Cohen Starter Pack is the gifts he was giving to Summer and Anna. It consisted of maybe 4 cd's (death cab for cutie and bright eyes included)and The Goonies. Neither of them accepted the gift so he was left with 2 of his starter packs which he ended up giving to his parents.

Kristen took some document her father had and gave it to Sandy. It basically said that the land they were fighting over was worthless for building. Kristen could have been fired for it because she violated company provacy or something, but she thought it was the right thing to do anyway. Her dad ended up selling the land to Sandy (or some organization) for $1, thus ending their legal battle (or so I believe).

I have no idea if Julie is still dating Kristen's father. I would assume so, especially since he just bought her house.

Ya, Marissa is a really dumb idiotic person who doesn;t knoq how to act and when to say no. She ended up getting caught for stealing things at the mall when she was with Ryan. Honestly, I think Summer is starting to grow on me. Seth kind of turned her soft and I think she could be a good person.

Man, the New Years Eve episode was awsome! First off, Kirsten's sister is a wierdo! What a nut! I can see why Seth thinks she's cool, thougn.

I totally think Oliver has a thing for Marissa. I doubt he has a girlfriend like he says and I think he's in to her. I didn't think Ryan would make it on time but I was so happy he did. Ryan seems like the perfect dude!

I think Seth is getting himself into another spat of Girll trouble. Summer still likes him and I think he's gonna go back with Anna. The claws will come out in the next episode. I can't believe I have to wait three weeks! I think I'll die!

I love the O.C. It's like my favorite show, Rachel Bilson is awesome and Adam Brody is way cute, but i feel i must inform some of you that orange county is so not like that in real life. You see, I'm from San Diego which is just a little south from there and orange county is not some glamourous town, it's pretty much just like every other place in the states , in fact, i don't know were the creaters got the idea that it's some kind of rich party town.

I (think) everyone knows it's fake. I guess the directors decided to take a popular country in CA that seemed to fit the California stereotype (i.e. rich, beautiful, etc), so they picked Orange County.

hey, it's still fun to watch though :p

I totally know. My Aunt lives in CA and she says that Orange County is so not like that. I just like it because of the plots and because Benjamin McKenzie (Ryan) and Chris Carmack (Luke) are hot. Next to Orlando Bloom and Ashton Kutcher, they're the hottest dudes on TV. Actually, I think Ryan is even hotter than Ashton, but not Orlando.

I gotta go, I'm at Stormy's again and she's rushing me so she can chat with some dude. I keep trying to tell her it's girls' night, but that doesn't work anymore. Well, I guess I'd ditch her if I could talk to Ryan, so I should let her talk to him.

Later, Dudes and Dudettes! (my new catch phrase)

My friends are teasing me about the fact that I live in 'the OC' yet I've never watched that show. I just think that 'the OC' is just a TV show about fake, utopia-like place that does not exist. That show is just biased (as most of the TV shows about California is). They do not show the nasty side of California, only the perfect, beautiful California, which pisses me off in some ways. I am not blaming OC the TV show for it and I do admit that it is not the only show to do that, but the fakeness in the show is just too much for me to watch it without criticizing it. I know that there are rich kids in Orange County (especially Irvine and New Port Beach area) just as the show portrays, but there is no school as dream-like as the one in the show, and not everyone in OC is born in to millionaire household. I must admit that I was horrified how other areas of OC looked like when I first had my look at it about how different, and not-so-beautiful it was.(some parts of Orange County that I do not live in). Orange County is being portrayed as a place that it somewhat isn't. Orange County was just puffed up to attract viewers; nothing more, nothing less.

Honestly, the show isn't even about Orange County. It's about a family. "The OC" is just where it takes place. And we've already discussed this. They needed a place in California and they chose The OC. Well, really they chose Newport. The title is confusing, I admit. I LOVE THE SHOW!

I can't believe what happened Wednesday! I HATED that episode! I hate Oliver so much! I can't wait to see the newest one, though. Oliver with a gun? Not a good combo, don't you think? Who do you all think is shot? It'll either be Ryan, Marissa, or Oliver might shoot himself. Either way, I hope Ryan and Marissa get back together.

When the O.C. first came out, all my friends went gaga for it, and I totally opposed it, it didn't look interesting to me at ALL. Then a while ago I watched an episode and now I'm hooked! I've seen three episodes and I love this show! The only bad thing is, from my lack of past watching, a lot of stuff leaves me in the dark (like past boyfriends, etc.) and I mix peoples names up a lot.

My favourite character is definitely Seth... the way he talks is hilarious (like Summer said, "witty banter")! Marissa's been bothering me since she keeps siding with that scumbag Oliver!

Remember that commercial they had playing last week, before the last episode aired? I don't know about you guys, but I really, really did not like that commercial. They had basically stereotyped all the characters and were using a single word to identify them. I didn't like that at all.

I know what you mean! Before the show aired, all the commercials had Marissa asking Ryan, "So what do you think of Newport?" I was convinced that the show took place in Newport, R.I., where my grandfather lives. It took me ages to figure out that it was Newport, CA.

Oliver...why did they pick such a hot guy to play him?? Whoever plays Oliver is very nice, if I do say so myself. But I don't like his character at all. Of course, after last episode, I don't like Ryan's charcter much either, because he's acting like a baby whenever someone even LOOKS at Marissa. What's he going to do if their relationship doesn't work out in the end? Sheesh.

January 28th, 2004, 7:36 pm
I can't really blame Ryan though. He doesn't have good experience with trusting people. I mean, look at his mom! Marissa and the Cohens are the only things good in his life and he's afraid of losing them. I'm, honestly, kind of mad at Marissa. She seems blind if she can't see Oliver for what he is. I got so mad at Seth, though. Of all people he should be on Ryan's side! I thought it was almost funny that Luke (of all people) took Ryan's side. I want Ryan and Marissa back together, but I love Ryan and I'm starting to dislike Marissa.

Does anyone have a theory on who gets shot next episode?

February 12th, 2004, 10:53 pm
Did anyone watch last night's (Feb 11) episode? I was disappointed in it, mainly because I was totally expecting Oliver to kill himself at the end. And Anna broke up with Seth! I thought they were really cute together, but nooo, Seth has to have a crush on Summer, who has the brains of a fly. :grumble:

And next week's episode just looks...weird. I mean, Julie and Luke?? She's 19 years older than him!

DarkMark90
February 13th, 2004, 9:37 pm
Next weeks episode looks bizarre, but still, i'm excited.

I found this weeks (feb 11) kind of corny, because nobody got hurt in the end, and every thing turned out all hunky-dory except for the fact that Oliver got arrested.
I'm kind of mad that Seth has to be so stupid, because i think Summer is just a superficial idiot, and he is stupid for STILL liking her after everything that's happened.

mekell
February 15th, 2004, 2:29 am
I know what ya'll mean. I was a bit disappointed no one got shot! I told my mom that I thought that episode was a rip off! They did have a gun shot in the comercial!

I knew Hannah would be mad about Seth and Anna. I wasn't that shocked... at least, not as shocked as I was about Julie and Luke! Luke is sooo cute and Julie is so... so... I can't say it on a family thread.

Marissa better be telling Ryan "I'm sorry," an awful lot! I mean, Oliver was just some guy she met, and Ryan was her boyfriend, and Ryan isn't stupid! Like Summer said, he might be violent, but he isn't stupid! He knows what he's talking about! (That was possibly the first time I've ever agreed with Summer.)

Okay, do you all think Ryan and Marissa will get back together? We all know that Ryan loves her, and that Marissa will want him back, but should Ryan take her back? I don't know! "confused."

Woooooo! I got my ranting done for the day! See ya'll later!

HannahStarr
February 19th, 2004, 9:13 pm
I did NOT like last night's episode, and not just because Seth and Summer did it (twice!). It seemed as if the whole message was, "It's OK to do it as long as you have protection." Hello! You can still get pregnant, even with protection. (Sorry, but I for the past three years I've had two teachers who were really big on this stuff.) And then Sandy comes in and tells Seth that he should do it again with Summer because the first time is always awkward. Shouldn't he, as a responsible parent, be telling Seth NOT to do it?

Then there was the whole Julie/Luke thing, which was really gross (I had to cover the TV screen when they kissed. The kiss went on for at least 5 minutes, I swear!). Luke's acting was kind of bad too, whenever he was around Julie.

I do have a few questions:
1) How old is Theresa? Because she looks at least 5 years older than Ryan, but I thought they were the same age.
2) Do Hailey and Jimmy have a past together?

Is Annah the girl Seth was at a ball with and discussed comics books with?

Yep, that's Anna. :D She's my favorite character because she reminds me of...well, me! I stopped watching The O.C. about a month or two ago because it got very unrealistic (starting with the episode you just saw, Furienna) and it just went downhill from there. My friend told me what happened on the season finale and it was really sad (sad as in pathetic, not tear-jerking sad). I don't know what they're going to do for the second season in order to save it...

I think the OC has plumbed previously unreached depths of cliché. A plot so predictable and insulting to the mind of the viewer one wonders how the soulless robots the claim to script it keep going [ed obviously the brown envelopes!]

Still, when i come in after a few drinks & catch the repeat (about midnight) its light viewing.

And I missed the last episode too becaue Dad just had to watch the ice hockey world championship on another channel on the satelite dish so I could't watch it. I don't know if I want to see it anymore if Seth is gonna have sex with Summer. I mean, Seth, where did your brain go? I used to think you were cute! But I think I just see what happens in upcoming episodes before I stop seeing it.

Grrrrr.

Well the new season starts in November, i don't know how i'm going to last.

Girl who plays Marissa. She looks okay, but the acting? No, just..no.

Rachel Bilson is fiiiine. Summer!

The actual show, is enjoyable. Good light entertainment, although it steadily went downhill as the season progressed. I was thinking there was like 27 episodes there from what I read online, but E4 showed 16 or something. I don't know if they're splitting it or what. Weird. I wasn't watching regularly by the end of the season, but I was curious anyway. Seth is joookes. Ha.

I know, i almost did too!! It was just so sad, the whole chapter...i think that the most affected when Ryan left was Seth, i mean, he went from having no friends, talking to no one, to having a brother, a best friend who he could talk to and the girl who he was in love with since like, forever. By the way, do you think he got to Tahiti?? But i do think that everybody changed after Ryan arrived. Marissa and Summer became less shallow, Seth was happier, Luke became a nice person, not the idiot he used to be...I really think Ryan will came back though. Otherwise the show would be over. The baby COULD be the other guy´s, couldn´t he...but he is mean to Theresa...oh, why did she get pregnant anyway???

For the premiere, nothing huge happened.
-Seth and Ryan moved back to Orange County.
-Summer is mad at Seth for leaving,
-Seth's parents are happy that he's finally back,
-Teresa told Ryan a lie that the baby died, while really it's still alive, and she wanted him to be happy.
-Marisa is mad at her mom, and had a hyper spaz attack involving throwing lawn furniture in the pool.

I think that covers some points. As for me, it's almost 8:00 right now, and i'm going to watch the O.C! :D

My girlfriend lives on the beach at Newport and her life is nothing like anyone's on the OC, and I'm pretty sure that Irvine (my city) does not exsist in the world of "The OC"...and I realize it's just a show...but I'm still a bit...I dunnow...annoyed.

I guess actual residents of that area would be irritated, yet it's just a tv show after all, and everyone knows that some things are exagerated, even though it would be really cool if our lives had the same sort of glamour like the characters in the O.C. However, reality is never like that. :)

No offense to anyone, but I watched one episode and was disguested... it's just that the OC is not some tropical paradise, trust me on this one, I live like right next to Orange County and nobody just walks around the beach all day, that isn't what California is about. The sad thing is that all the TV shows portray Californians as little sensitive baywatch people who care about nothing but a good tan and some seashell necklace their friend made them. They couldn't be farther from the truth. California isn't some sensitive, movie-hypnotized, palm tree, beachs, bikini, lemonade, expensive house place. Look at the inland empire!! We grow more produce there than anyone else does in the entire country! And the inland empire is only a little stretch of fertile land between the Sierra Nevada mountains and the coastline. Now THAT is California.

Sorry if I bored you to death with my famous lecture on Califorina, I feel obligated to do this for some crazy reason.

well, i recently started watching the show, and now after a few episodes, i'm becoming obsessed. It's really the story line that brings me back to it. (and..ahem...adam brody and ben mckenzie..ahem..lol:blush:) anyways, it's a really good show, because there is so much happening all the time. It never really gets slow, because something new will occur, and it's fast moving. lol, as for the fact that the setting of Orange County California is false from reality, i don't look at the show like that. I know that is obviously not like how the show portrays. I mean, their high school has a cafe and lounge areas with a courtyard. Obviously i know it's unrealistic! But, its the material the show portrays that is intriguing for viewers, and some issues (for example Marissa's old alcholic phases from season one, sort of teaches teens to not get involved in it, if you know what i mean)

lol, god i've written a lot. whoops!lol.

I don't really think like that....it's a show right...just like how they show americans as dicks and canadians as simple country people...whoever takes shows seriously are ...pretty pathetic...i think we all love the show is because of all the drama and how all the guys are hot and the gurls are good looking...so if you look at the world like that..it may turn out to be a sad life you live...and less fun...because the oc is awesome!! lol..but yea this thread must be old...cuz everyone at the beginning is like...i don't know about this show...lol..some people are so weird

I really love the last new episode that was on. It's on again tonight, and I'm going to tape it. I couldn't BELEIVE what's planned for Marissa. :)

I saw some new coming attractions, and Jimmy is apparently leaving. At a party for him, Marissa and her mom get into a fight, and Julie says, "She's screwed up." Marissa then says, "Of course I'm screwed up. I'm the daughter of a thief and a slut (very sorry if I can't say that word!)." Looks like a good episode.

Yeah, the thing about Marissa is quite strange. And i heard about the outburst between her and her mom too. The episodes just keep getting more interesting. lol. I also would like to say that i like Lindsey's character. She's a bit more different from some of the others which i think is good to give even more variety.

haha! i watched the Chrismakkuh episode again too!:p. There was nothing to watch so i just indulged myself with those re-runs.

I LOVE THE O.C.
I think TV really needed a Melrose Place-like show as the past couple of years has been heavily dominated with reality TV. I think that is why so many people love it. It is different from anything on right now. Now we have seen more of these types of shows pop up like Desperate Housewives, Summerland, The North Shore... they are helping tv bring back good ole fashioned drama to prime time and I love it!

Last season I couldn't get enough of Seth. This season, I am loving Ryan much more as he seems a bit happier and has opened himself up more which I am finding really interesting.

If you want detailed spoilers about the O.C. check out: http://www.spoilerfix.com/theoc.php

For example here is a HUGE SPOILER :wow: !!!
Marissa comes out as a lesbian! Series creator Josh Schwartz is confirming rumors that Mischa Barton's lovelorn alter ego will fall for another girl in early '05. "Marissa is at a point in her life where she's trying to find herself and her true identity," Schwartz tells Out.com. "There's another character who she really connects with. It's a girl, which is not something Marissa may have anticipated. But she's willing and game to explore and experiment with that"

I'm so happy to have found an oC thread on here! I'm totally hooked on the OC and I can't wait for season two to start in England which is does...I think the 25th Jan!!

I've always preferred Ryan to Seth ever since that infamous moment in the 2nd episode where he did push-ups on some scaffolding!! But I am a fan of Seth...he's so sweet!

I think the Chrismakkuh episode was one of the better ones. I love all the drama, plus for Summer to pull that together at the end was a surprising, yet very good thing. I'm really liking Lindsey's character. I can't wait for the next episodes.

What season is it up to in America? I think it's the 2nd season. Our last episode was a new Chrismakkuh episode. We have new episodes starting this week though.

I hope that Ryan doesn't stay with Theresa because i really want him and Marissa to get back together.
Ryan and Marissa don't get back together. Marissa starts with the garden guy, and Ryan gets together with this new girl, Lindsay, who turns out to be Kayab's daughter. Seth hooks up with this girl from a bar, and Summer has a new boyfriend who is similar to Seth. There are some new episodes starting this week, and it looks like Marissa hooks up with Seth's girl from the bar.

I just finished watching the new episode of season 2 on Fox. It was really good. Marissa totally goes nuts..but i guess i won't ruin it or anything for those who haven't watched it yet. As well, Lindsey and Ryan don't know what to do with their relationship, considering that their family is quite confusing right now. haha! lol.
Despite the fact that at the most important part of the show my mother started to call me to help with the groceries, i just kept watching. The show was worth getting yelled at a bunch of times, and almost facing being grounded or something. (i'm not sure what she had in mind, i wasn't listening to her, because i was watching the show. :p)

That was a good episode. I felt bad for Marissa in the end, at the lifeguard station on the beach. I also felt bad for Julie, too. I love her character. Judging from the coming attractions for next week, it looks like Seth accomplishes what he wanted to do in this episode- be a bad boy. Modest Mouse was great. ;) Is DJ ever become more important? You don't see much of him, but I don't really like him anyway. I like all the other new characters, though.

I do like Seth with Alex though.I'm not sure if i like lindsay yet but she might gorw on me eventually.I feel the same about Lindsay. Her and Ryan just don't seem like they'll work. After all, they're practically related. Does anyone watch the real o.c. (laguana beach-sp?). I like stephen.I've watched a lot of the episodes, and it's pretty good. I can't wait untill Jan 25th when the second series comes over to the UK! I really can't wait to watch it! I could'nt help it and read all the spoilers, i can't beleive Marissa kisses another girl, that really came as a shock to me. I do hope that she gets back with Ryan even though by the looks of thing he's with a girl named Lindsay. They just seemed like the perfect couple! And i can't beleive Summer and Seth brake up, i did'nt see that on the cards. But hey, there has got to be some surprises to keep you hooked, it can't always run the way you want it to other wise it will get boring! It seems to be really good so far and i'm patiently waiting for the season to start over here- not! :)

This was an ok episode. I did love it in the begining when Sandy called the boys in for punishment and grounding. He sounded so uncharacteristically stern and dad-like. It was absolutely hillarious! Plus Sandy is one heck of a singer!

on the next O.C. The Ex-Factor Airdate: January 20, 2005
The return of Alex's ex gives Seth an insight into the sort of woman he's sort of dating, as Ryan gives Marissa hell for letting Lindsay booze her way through a girls night out. Meanwhile, Sandy's idea to salvage the Newport Group's image hits a dead end with Julie's face plastered all over it.
Marissa and Summer try to convince Lindsay to take part in a girls night out. Eventually, the ladies will end up at the Bait Shop where Summer talks with a polo team player named Matt. Summer is surprised that the polo team knows about her and Zach and especially about their six-month anniversary. Seth and Zach sit with comic book geeks at school and all chat about comics. Seth seems upset but it's not clear why it seems that it may be something Alex did... At the Bait Shop, Alex presents Isabelle, the new coat check girl, to Seth. Sandy, Kirsten, and Caleb are at a restaraunt. Sandy is not happy at Caleb and he leaves the table. That is all I've got so far!

I'll sum it up for you. :)
-Valentines Day
-Kirsten is mad after finding out about Rebecca
-Sandy buys her like 1000 roses to make up for it but she sticks a bunch in the garbage disposal.
-Seth and Summer agree to spend as little time together as possible, only to find out that Zach has set up a pitch in Seattle. They all have to go on a road trip together.
-Seth is upset because he really wants Summer back.
-Marissa hints to Alex that she wants to go on a date but Alex hates Valentines day and promises a date in one week after the whole thing has blown over.
-Julie comes back from Europe early and really wants to bond with Marissa.
-Marissa agrees to go to dinner with her mom where she takes Alex's advice and humours her mom in order to make the evening less painful.
-Ryan wants to celebrate Valentines day with Lindsay, but she wants a break to spend time with Caleb. She soon agrees to taking a break from the break on the condition that Ryan patch things up with Caleb. He agrees.
-Sandy decides to give Rebecca's case to another lawyer in order to save his marriage.
-Rebecca's father dies.
-Kirsten forgives Sandy and they make dinner reservations. But just before the go out, Rebecca phones and states that she is going to run away again. Kirsten allows Sandy to go say goodbye to Becca before their dinner.
-Rebecca kisses Sandy. He kisses her back. They say goodbye but Sandy misses dinner. When he gets home Kirsten in so angry that she doesn't even speak to him. She merely closes the bedroom door lightly in his face. He's blown it.
-Seth blows the comic pitch when he stays up all night dreading the thought of Summer and Zach having sex in the next room. At the pitch he introduces a new storyline to the comic. A love story. He says that The Ironer and Little Miss Vixen are going to end up together but the comic-guy doesn't like the idea. Neither do Summer and Zach who are extremely confused and angry with Seth's actions. The comic-guy can see that there is tension between the three partners and refuses to work with them until they grow up or sort things out. Seth takes the bus home but Zach and Summer stay behind to celebrate Valentines together...in their hotel room.
-Ryan and Caleb clash heads until Ryan challenges Caleb to a game of pool. If Ryan wins, Caleb has to accept him as Lindsays boyfriend, and if Caleb wins, Ryan says he'll stay out of the way. Best out of 10 games wins. Ryan wins and walks away with a smile. He allows Caleb to spend Valentines day with Lindsay to bond. Essentially being the bigger man. We are left to wonder if some sort of understanding has formed between the two.
-Julie worries that Marissa will lose her inheritance from Caleb if he decides to adopt Lindsay. Marissa seems to be unsure of whether she cares or not. Her recent self-discovery and her old spoiled ways seem to be battling each other.
-Later that night after the dinner with her mom Marissa is stressed out. She found it hard pretending to be interested in her mothers plans for the future. She immediately goes to see Alex afterwards. She decides to make her feelings clear in case she wasn't forward enough before. She tells Alex that she had the worst possible night, but knowing that she could come back to Alex afterwards made it worth while. She expresses that she feels happy and safe when their together. She implies that she wants to take their relationship further but at the same time doesn't want Alex to feel rushed. Alex is touched by this and decides that it's time for their first date afterall. They sit out on the beach together and the show ends with them sharing a rather intimate kiss.

THE END.

Hope that helps for next week. :)

TnK, I will ignore that and answer mixedgurltuja27.

Yah, I watched the preview. From what I can remember, the episode will mostly be about Caleb's decision to adopt Lindsay. Julie thinks he's rushing into things and I think that she wants Lindsay to take a DNA test before Caleb makes any decisions. And, even though this wasn't in the preview, Alex takes Marissa to hang out with some of her friends. I read it online. No word on what the point and purpose is, but that's all I remember.

mixedgurltuja27
February 14th, 2005, 3:08 am
thanks anywayzz.....TnK...if you don't like the OC, then why do you come on a thread made for people who enjoy the show??

animagus_prongs.....thank you for the oh so helpful information that you have given me...i would just like to know one thing...if caleb is lindsay's father, then why does he have to adopt her?? can't he just exercise his paternal rights and take her in?? if there's a problem about her mother.....then he can just go to court over custody and ask for either full parental rights (not gonna happen even if he did go to court) or joint custody.....i love this show.....it is one of the best shows fox has ever produced (not like north shore....i hated that oc-wannabe show)....sometimes i think the writers aren't all there though...some of their logic is missing....but then it all ties together in the end because what they do is necessary for the plotline and outcome of the show.......

Animagus_Prongs
February 14th, 2005, 3:18 am
You're very welcome! :)
And you're right...that makes no sense whatsoever. But I don't remember if they actually used the words 'adopt'. It might just be a custody battle. I'll go check.

Okay so this is what I've found out...
Caleb's plan to adopt(?) Lindsay stirs up serious questions about her paternity; Kirsten makes a bold move after realizing that Rebecca's after more than just Sandy's legal help; Marissa gives Alex proof of her feelings; and Seth wallows in the fallout from Summer and Zach's hotel tryst.
While Rebecca pays her last respects to her father, Kirsten grows impatient with Sandy’s long absences from home and pays Rebecca a visit. Alex invites Marissa to hang out with her friends. Meanwhile, Caleb decides to remove all doubt that Lindsay is his daughter by having her take a DNA test. Lindsay is somewhat hurt by this. Seth gets into even MORE trouble with Summer when he decides to ask if he and Summer had sex.

That's all I got.

Oh yeah! By the way, in my summary I forgot to mention that Zach and Summer plan to go backpacking in Italy soon. Seth isn't too happy about that.

Looks like I'll step up to the plate once again. :)
*Cracks fingers*
Alright...
Before we get into ships, there are two new characters. Lindsay and Alex. Lindsay is Ryan's lab partner and Alex runs The Bait Shop which is a sort of a bar and hangout. Bands come and play there a lot too.
At the present moment, Lindsay is dating Ryan. At first they hated each other. Lindsay was really rude to Ryan because she thought he was the typical egotistical guy. Ryan finally convinces her that he's a decent guy and eventually they admit that they like each other. We later find out that Lindsay is Caleb's daughter.
Marissa and Ryan are long over. And Marissa fell for the poolboy at her house. They started dating but her mom and DJ's (the poolboy) family hate each other and she forbids Marissa to date him. She does anyway. Now, I missed a few episodes, so I don't know the exact details, but DJ leaves Marissa.
Summer is dating a guy named Zach who she goes to school with. Seth tries to act like he just wants to be friends, but it's quite obvious to Summer that he wants more. So to prove that he's over her he gets her and Zach tickets to see some band play at the Bait Shop. But in order to get the tickets he has to beg for a job from Alex. He starts cleaning toilets and mopping the floors and such. He gets the tickets but Summer still just wants to be friends. Seth soon finds out that he and Alex have a lot in common and they eventually start to date. But about a week in, Alex's Ex shows up in New Port. And we find out that her Ex Boyfriend is actually and Ex Girlfriend. Alex wants a break to figure things out. In which time she befriends Marissa who helps her deal with her manipulative Ex. They start spending a lot of time together and Marissa starts to feel drawn to Alex. Alex goes to see Seth and tells him that there's no point going on with their relationship because they were obviously each others re-bounds. And it's obvious that he still loves Summer. When Seth inquires as to what he helped Alex accomplish she says that he helped her get ready for the next big thing. The next thing being Marissa. Before all this, Alex had freaked out Marissa by asking her what she was after. You know, the whole "What's going on between us?" thing. Marissa obviously wasn't ready to express herself, not unless Alex felt the same. Marissa decides that she doesn't care and goes to see Alex who is missing her and regreting scaring her off. Marissa joins her in the dance floor and grabs her hand. That's all that really happens and then the episode ends. But it's implying that they are now an item.

That's it. Read my summary above if you want to know more details on what's happened since then. :tu:

It's not the fact that they give stuff away that bothers me, it's just that they give us a taste and then leave us wanting more. When you have an idea of what's going to happen you get excited and can't wait to see how it pans out. I personally was really excited for Marissa and Alex to get together. And in the commercial it showed them leaning in for a kiss and then that's it. Then you have to wait seven days to see how everything turns out. Not just with them but with Sandy and Rebecca. It shows them going in for a kiss, but don't actually show it. It leaves you shouting "Sandy you better not kiss her!!!". The waiting is agony. And I have to work tomorrow night too. But it's all good. I think I have the only job in the universe that allows me to watch my own t.v. :tu:

if i had a job that made me miss tuesday(gilmore) or thursday(oc) tv, i'd quit.....probably not, but still.
i wonder what'll happen with kirsten and rebecca. honestly, i wouldn't be so quick to fight for sandy after that move he pulled. at least not right away.

it's tuesday (i luv gilmore girls too....i'm addicted) wednesday (missy elliot and smallville) thursday (oc and point pleasant) or saturday (mad tv and saturday night live) tv for me.....i'm way underage, so it's not like i can do anything on saturday night...that suxx. omg i can't wait until tomorrow..................it's gonna drive me crazy...i'm going insane and there's nothing anyone can do....the only thing that can help me is seeing tomorrow's episode.....my sis cut it off the week before last. it was the episode where marissa had spent the night at alex's. she said she didn't want to see any..(bleep out word because i don't know if i'm allowed to put that particular d word on here)...doing anything.....i had to go in the back to watch it......i was like dang....she kicked me out and it was my turn to watch the tv.......

Wow there aren't a lot of guys that watch this show are there?

Anyway I can't wait till the next episode as the OC is the only show on t.v. I care about now that Rescue Me's season ended.

I love Seth, he is so funny, kinda like Summer too. In the Netherlands they show the OC on Tuesday after the Gilmore Girls, so my evening is perfect.
